I NOTICED THAT MY CAR WOULD NOT BRAKE PROPERLY IF I HAPPENED TO BE BREAKING OVER AN UNEVEN SERVICE YEARS AGO. SO, I DRIVE TO AVOID HAVING TO DO SO. BUT, THEN RECENTLY IT STARTED MAKING A SQUEALING NOISE ALONG WITH BREAKING. IT COMES AND GOES. THEN, A CLUNKING NOISE STARTED WHEN REVERSING. NOW, THE CLUNKING NOISE COMES IN EITHER DIRECTION. THE SQUEALING HAS GRADUATED TO SCRATCHING AND SCRAPING WHEN I ACCELERATE OR DECELERATE. IT COMES FROM MY FRONT, PASSENGER SIDE TIRE AND WHEN I TURN MY STEERING WHEEL ALL THE WAY TO THE RIGHT, IT GETS VERY LOOSE - WHEREAS TURNING ALL THE WAY TO THE LEFT STILL FEELS APPROPRIATELY TIGHT. I THINK THE LOOSENESS IS CONNECTED TO THE FRONT RIGHT PASSENGER SIDE WHEEL, AS IF A PIECE HAS BROKEN OR IS LOOSE - BECAUSE IT COMES AND GOES. THIS ALL HAPPENS WHEN I'M MOVING, NO MATTER WHAT TERRAIN IT IS (HIGHWAY, CITY STREET, ETC.) AND WHETHER I AM TURNING OR NOT.
"TAKATA RECALL" NOTICE WAS SENT. WHEN I TRIED TO CONTACT A DEALERSHIP THERE WAS NO LOCAL DEALERSHIP ON HAWAII TO CORRECT THE ISSUE. I WOULD LIKE THIS ISSUE FIXED DUE TO THE "TAKATA RECALL" BUT NOT HAVE TO SEND MY VEHICLE TO THE CONTINENTAL US DUE TO THIS ISSUE NOT BEING MY FAULT.
I WAS INVOLVED IN A HEAD ON COLLISION INTO A UTILITY POLE ON A TWO LANE ROADWAY. I WAS FOUND UNCONSCIOUS IN MY CAR. I HAVE NO RECOLLECTION OF THE COLLISION ITSELF BUT NO OTHER CAR WAS FOUND TO BE INVOLVED. THE DRIVERS SIDE OF THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED THE MOST DAMAGE. I HAD MY SEATS BELT ON BUT NOT A SINGLE AIRBAG IN THE ENTIRE VEHICLE DEPLOYED, DESPITE THE DISABLING DAMAGE THAT OCCURRED TO THE VEHICLE. I HAVE REACHED OUT TO TOYOTA MULTIPLE TIMES SINCE THE INCIDENT OCCURRED YET ABOUT THE CONCERN OF NO AIRBAGS DEPLOYING YET WAS NEVER NOTIFIED THAT THIS WAS EVEN AN OPTION TO REPORT THE FAILURE OF THE AIRBAG TO DEPLOY IN AN ACCIDENT, ESPECIALLY WHERE THE HEAD ON COLLISION TOTALED THE CAR. THE PICTURES OF THE INCIDENT ATTACHED TO THIS REPORT WERE OBTAINED BY MY FATHER IN THE DAYS FOLLOWING THE ACCIDENT AND INCLUDE THE ROAD OF THE ACCIDENT AND THE CAR. THE STEERING WHEEL IS VISIBLY DEFORMED FROM THE IMPACT MY BODY HAD ON IT DURING THE CRASH. I FRACTURED THE C2 SEGMENT IN MY NECK AND TO THIS DAY STILL SUFFER FROM COMPLICATIONS FROM THE CONCUSSION AND INJURIES OF THIS CRASH ON A DAILY BASIS. I HAVE BEEN THROUGH NEUROLOGICALLY TESTING AND THERAPIES RELATED TO THE INJURIES. THESE INJURIES HAVE IMPACTED MY LIFE GREATLY AND I FEEL AS THOUGH MY CONCERN IS BEING DISREGARDED BY TOYOTA. I STRONGLY FEEL AS THOUGH MY INJURIES WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN NEARLY AS SEVERE IF THE AIRBAG DEPLOYED AND I WOULD REALLY APPRECIATE IT IF YOU COULD LOOK INTO THE CASE. I DO HAVE ADDITIONAL INFORMATION AND PICTURES IF NEEDED. *TR
THE ENGINE TURN OFF SUDDENLY AND THE POWER STEERING SYSTEM FAIL,THEN ENGINE TURN ON AND POWER STEERING WORKS FINES .ITS PASS SEVERAL TIMES.
WHEN I DRIVE AT 60MPH AND HIGHER MY 2009 5 DOOR LIFTBACK YARIS WITH ELECTRONICALLY ASSISTED STEERING THAT I BOUGHT NEW, IT HAS A DANGEROUS TENDENCY TO WANDER. IF I LOOK AWAY FOR A SECOND, THE CAR WANDERS AND HAS OFTEN DONE SO INTO OTHER LANES. THIS HAS HAPPENED ABOUT 10 TIMES IN THE YEAR THAT I HAVE OWNED IT. I HAVE HAD TO ADJUST MY DRIVING HABITS TO REDUCE THE AMOUNT OF TIMES THAT THIS HAPPENS OTHERWISE IT WOULD HAVE HAPPENED MANY MORE TIMES. THE HABITS THAT I PRACTICE TO AVOID THIS ARE TO PAY CONSTANT ATTENTION TO THE ROAD AHEAD OF ME SO I DON'T WANDER OUT OF MY LANE. MUCH MORE ATTENTION IS NEEDED WITH THIS CAR THAN ANY OTHER OF THE 8 PASSENGER CARS I HAVE OWNED AND DRIVEN. IT IS VERY TAXING ON MY ENERGY LEVEL ON LONG DRIVES WHICH I CONSIDER TO BE 3 HRS OR MORE. I AM VERY CAR SAVVY AND I THINK THIS PHENOMENON IS DUE TO THE ANGLE OF CASTER ON THE FRONT SUSPENSION. UNFORTUNATELY THERE IS NO ADJUSTMENT FOR CASTER ON MY YARIS OTHERWISE I WOULD TRY THAT. IT DOES NOT TRACK AS STRAIGHT AS MY PREVIOUS CARS OF WHICH RANGE FROM HEAVY TO LIGHT WEIGHT, FROM OLD TO NEW, AND FROM BEING EQUIPPED WITH POWER STEERING TO NO POWER STEERING. MY YARIS HAS ELECTRONIC ASSISTED STEERING. I HAVE READ THAT THE NEW COROLLA HAS ELECTRONIC STEERING AND THOSE DRIVER'S COMPLAINTS REFLECT MINE. I HAVE NOT COMPLAINED ABOUT THIS EARLIER BECAUSE I THOUGHT IT WAS DUE TO THE COMBINATION OF LIGHT WEIGHT WITH SMALL SIZE AND RELATIVELY TALL HEIGHT. AFTER HEARING OF THE COROLLA DRIVER'S COMPLAINTS AND THE COINCIDENCE OF IT BEING EQUIPPED WITH POWER STEERING, I THINK THERE MAY BE A PATTERN. MY THEORY IS THAT THE CASTER IS SET TO MAKE STEERING EASY ON THE ELECTRIC POWER STEERING FOR THE REASON OF SAVING WEIGHT AND MONEY IN THE MATERIALS IT WOULD TAKE TO MAKE A MORE ROBUST POWER STEERING SYSTEM SUCH AS BIGGER ELECTRIC MOTOR, BIGGER WIRES, BIGGER BATTERY, BIGGER ALTERNATOR, ETC. *TR
