2006 VOLKSWAGEN PASSAT. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO DEFECTIVE VEHICLE TIRES. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVING ROUGH AND THE STEERING WAS VIBRATING DUE TO THE VEHICLE HAVING 3 BAD TIRES. THE CONSUMER RECEIVED 4 NEW TIRES. *JS
CAR IS IMMOBILIZED AT THIS TIME W/ KEY STUCK IN IGNITION, DEFECTIVE STEERING WHEEL APPEARS BEFORE THIS HAPPENS. CAR WAS STATIONARY IN MY DRIVE WAY, COLD WEATHER, FIRST START. IT'S INTERMEDIATE & HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES. STEERING HAS BEEN FIXED A FEW YEARS AGO FOR ISSUES OF THE SAME SORT. CAR HAS APPROXIMATELY 194,000 ON IT BUT THE ISSUE IS THERE HAS BEEN MULTIPLE PROBLEMS, CAM (REPLACED 2 X'S; ONCE UNDER WARRANTY OTHER TIME HAD TO PAY OUT OF POCKET), TURBO, SENSORS, PVC, STEERING, CONVERTER (OUT OF POCKET), REAR AXLE (OUT OF POCKET), ETC. HAVE ALL DOCUMENTS BUT DO NOT HAVE A WAY TO PROVIDE THEM IN THIS FORUM. PROBLEMS STARTED UNDER CERTIFIED WARRANTY BUT CONTINUED AFTER. BOUGHT CAR W/ APPROXIMATELY 23,000 MILES ON IT. BEEN NOTHING BUT A BIG HEADACHE. CAR IS WELL TAKEN CARE OF BUT CONTINUES TO HAVE ISSUES.

THE VEHICLE WAS SERVICED UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 06V470000 (WIPERS/ VISIBILITY) BUT THE REMEDY FAILED TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE. IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS FUNCTIONED NORMALLY WHEN THERE WAS NO RAIN WEATHER CONDITIONS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 110,000.
TAKATA RECALL CALLED MY DEALER TO GET AN UPDATE ON THE TAKATA RECALL, AND STILL NO AVAILABLE DATE, VW CUSTOMER SERVICE IS TELLING ME IS SAFE TO DRIVE THE CAR DESPITE SEVERAL CASES OF FATAL INJURY. VW IS ALSO NOT PROVIDING WITH A RENTAL OR IMMEDIATE SOLUTION TO THE PROBLEM.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 VOLKSWAGEN PASSAT. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 5 MPH, THE DRIVER SIDE AIR BAG DEPLOYED WITHOUT WARNING OR IMPACT. THE VEHICLE CRASHED INTO A CONCRETE DIVIDER. A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED INJURIES THAT REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVABLE EXCEPT FOR THE AIR BAG THAT WAS DRAGGED ALONG. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE INSURANCE COMPANY ORDERED THE VEHICLE BE TOWED TO A BODY SHOP. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 106,000. THE VIN WAS NOT PROVIDED.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND PROVIDED NO ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 169,000. VIN TOOL CONFIRMS PARTS NOT AVAILABLE.
2006 VR6 PASSAT. MAINTAINED AT LOCAL GARAGE WITH OIL AND FILTER CHANGES (SYNTHETIC OIL) EVERY 5,000 MILES. LOW OIL PRESSURE LIGHT CAME ON WHILE DRIVING AND TOOK TO A VW DEALER. TIMING CHAIN RUBBED ON COVER DUE TO LOOSE GEAR AND CAUSED PLASTIC PARTS TO FALL INTO OIL PAN. SUCKED UP BY OIL PUMP CAUSING FAILURE. ENGINE DID NOT FAIL, BUT THE REPAIR IS MORE THAN 3X THE VALUE OF THE CAR. *TR

LOW BEAMS ON BOTH SIDES CONSTANTLY FAIL. HAVE REPLACED BULBS WITH MANY DIFFERENT BRANDS. FAILURE OCCURS AROUND EVERY 6 MONTHS, GO FIGURE. MECHANIC STATED TO REPLACE HOUSING UNIT WOULD COST BETWEEN $600 TO $800.

TAKATA RECALL I WENT IN TO GET THE REPAIR A WEEK LATER AN AIRBAG FAULT CAME ON AND STILL ON. THEN TWICE WHILE I WAS DRIVEING ON HIGHWAY CAR CUTS OFF COMPLETELY THEN I HAVE TO PULL OVER WITH IT JUST ROLLING. THE STEERING SOMETIMES COMES ON AND SAYS DEFECTIVE THEN THE SUN ROOF OPEN CLOSES BY ITSELF. ALOT OF ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS ALWAYS HAVE TO GET SOMETHING FIX JUST PRAY THAT I DONT GET INTO AN ACCIDENT. THE HEATED SEATS DONT WORK NOMORE FOR SOME REASON ON DAY THEY WAS GOOD NOW NO AND ITS NOT THE FUSE.

TAKATA RECALL I HAVE AN '06 PASSAT. WHY IS IT A YEAR AFTER I GOT THE RECALL LETTER THAT I'M STILL WAITING FOR IT TO BE REPLACED? I HAVE A 6 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER THAT I DROP OFF AND PICK UP FROM SCHOOL IN THIS CAR WITH THE KILLER AIR BAG! MY PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG SENSOR "SOMETIMES" WORKS. WHY THE ENTIRE CAR HASN'T BEEN RECALLED, ONLY GOD KNOWS. THIS IS RIDICULOUS AND I'M ASHAMED MORE HASN'T BEEN DONE TO ENSURE THE SAFETY OF PASSENGERS OF THESE CARS MADE WITH SHORT CUTS AND CHEAP PARTS. MY LIFE AND MY DAUGHTERS LIFE IS WORTH FAR MORE THAN ANOTHER CHEAP SEAT IN FRONT OF A KILLER AIR BAG. THIS IS SUICIDE AND SHAME ON THOSE WHO ARE DELAYING THE FIXES BECAUSE THAT IS POTENTIAL ATTEMPTED MURDER ON MILLIONS OF PEOPLE AND THEIR CHILDREN.
MY VEHICLE IS RECALLED FOR THIS SERIOUS PROBLEM AND VW IS NOT OFFERING A PART TO FIX IT OR A RENTAL CAR. IT IS ILLEGAL FOR MY MECHANIC TO TURN OFF THE AIRBAG. I FEEL EXTREMELY UNSAFE DRIVING MY CAR WITH MY CHILD AND HUSBAND IN IT AS A MINOR FENDER BENDER IN WHICH THE AIRBAG ACTIVATES COULD RESULT IN DEATH. IT IS TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE THAT VW IS NOT OFFERING A SOLUTION FOR THESE CAR OWNERS TODAY.

CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON AND CAR WOULD RATTLE LOUDLY. ONE DAY THE CAR JUST STARTS DRIVING SLOW AND SHUTS OFF. I TOOK IT TO MECHANIC AND AFTER SEVERAL TESTS, IT WAS NOTED THAT THE ENGINE COILS AND TURBO CAP WAS BROKEN. HEFTY PRICE TO GET IT FIX. AFTER TWO DAYS, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS BACK ON. I RESEARCH AND TALKED WITH MECHANIC, IT SEEMS TO BE A GROWING PROBLEM WITH VW CARS.

I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE THEN I RECEIVED A TANAKA AIRBAG RECALL FROM VOLKSWAGEN OF AMERICA INFORMING ME THAT THERE ARE NO PARTS THE AIRBAGS THE VEHICLE IS UNSAFE ON THE ROAD I CAN'T GO ANYWHERE NOTHING HAS HAPPENED YET JUST A MATTER OF TIME.

TAMARA RECALL: I HAVE CALLED VOLKSWAGON AND A LOCAL DEALER ABOUT THE SAFETY OF MY DAUGHTER OR ANYONE DRIVING THIS VEHICLE. I HAVE ASKED IF THERE IS ALTERNATIVE TRANSPORTATION BEING OFFERED AND BOTH THE DEALER AND VOLKSWAGON HAVE INDICATED THEY ARE NOT OFFERING ANY ALTERNATIVE TRANSPORTATION. THEY HAVE ALSO INDICATED THAT A SOLUTION FOR THE AIRBAG AND PARTS ARE NOT AVAILABLE. VOLKSWAGON SHOULD OFFER ALTERNATIVE TRANSPORTATION UNTIL THIS CAN BE REPAIRED AND THE VEHICLE IS SAFE TO DRIVE!!!!!
TAKATA RECALL. THE DRIVER'S SIDE AIRBAG HASN'T BEEN REPLACED AS OF 09-30-2016. BOUGHT THE CAR, USED, 07-12-2016.
TAKATA RECALL I WAS IN A FRONT END COLLISION WITH ANOTHER CAR GOING ABOUT 70 MPH WITH THE FLOW OF TRAFFIC AROUND 3:15PM PST WHEN MY DRIVER'S SIDE AIRBAGS DID NOT ACTIVATE AT ALL. THERE IS A KNOW RECALL ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE AIRBAG FOR MY CAR BUT NO REPAIRS HAVE BEEN MADE AVAILABLE. THIS NON-ACTIVATION OF THIS SAFETY FEATURE OF MY CAR CAUSED ME TO HIT MY STEERING WHEEL HARD WITH MY CHEST.

TAKATA RECALL I AM A 21 YEAR OLD FEMALE COLLEGE STUDENT IN TALLAHASSEE, FL. MY PARENTS AND I CHOSE A 2006 VOLKSWAGEN PASSAT TO BE A SAFE CAR FOR ME AFTER AN ACCIDENT, WHERE MY PREVIOUS CAR(VW JETTA) WAS TOTALED. THEN TO FIND OUT A LITTLE UNDER A YEAR AFTER I PURCHASED THE CAR THAT THE AIRBAGS HAVE A RECALL I HAVE BEEN EXTREMELY REGRETFUL OF THIS DECISION. SINCE THAT DAY I HAVE BEEN AFRAID TO DRIVE MY CAR TO DRIVE MY CAR EACH TIME I GET INTO IT I THINK OF HOW RISKY IT IS TO DRIVE EACH TIME. I HAVE HEARD STORIES OF DRIVERS THROATS BEING SLIT BY THE UNSAFE METAL SHARDS THAT DEPLOY WITH THE RECALLED AIRBAGS. I DO NOT UNDERSTAND HOW THERE IS STILL NOT A FIX OR MEANS FOR DRIVERS TO BE ABLE TO DRIVE A CAR THAT IS SAFE. I THINK THAT IT IS EXTREMELY UNSAFE AND TOO RISKY TO HAVE ONE OF THE MAIN SAFETY MECHANISM IN CAR TO BE A THREAT TO DRIVERS AS WELL. WHEN THERE ARE RECALLS ON TOYS PEOPLE ARE INSTRUCTED TO IMMEDIATELY RETURN THEM TO THE STORE OR AT LEAST THROW THEM AWAY AND KEEP THE TOYS AWAY FROM THEIR CHILDREN. NOW THERE IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE WITH AIRBAGS IN A CAR AND NOT HIS HAS BEEN DONE. PEOPLE HAVE ALREADY LOST THEIR LIVES AS A RESULT OF THE FAULTY AIR BAGS AND STILL NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE. I AM WRITING TO HOPEFULLY GET A SOLUTION TO THIS ISSUE.
WE HAVE HAD TROUBLE FOR THE PAST WEEK WITH OUR CAR NOT CRANKING IN THE AFTERNOON. WE FIGURED IT WAS THE ALTERNATOR CAUSING THE BATTERY TO DIE. WE REPLACED THE ALTERNATOR. SO THE CAR DID GREAT FOR ONLY A FEW MINUTES, THEN WHEN BACKING OUT OF THE DRIVEWAY, THE STEERING COLUMN LIGHT CAME ON, THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED UP, AND THE CAR CONTINUED TO RUN. IF WE HAD BEEN GOING DOWN THE ROAD LIKE I HAVE READ HUNDREDS OF OTHER COMPLAINTS FOR THIS, WE COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED. WHY HAS THIS NOT BEEN RECALLED AS MANY COMPLAINTS HAVE BEEN MADE? THE STEERING COLUMN LIGHT COMES ON GOING DOWN THE ROAD AND EVERYTHING LOCKS UP FOR SOMEONE TO DIE. WILL VOLKSWAGEN THEN DECIDE ITS TIME TO RECALL IT? NOW THE KEY WILL NOT COME OUT OF THE IGNITION AND IT WILL NOT CRANK AT ALL.
BAD IGNITION COILS AND MISFIRES. CAM FOLLOWER AND CAMSHAFT WEAR PROBLEMS. DIVERTER VALVE (DV) FAILURE. HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PUMP (HPFP). CARBON BUILD UP AND COLD START MISFIRES. INTAKE MANIFOLD RUNNER CONTROL (IMRC) MOTOR. TIMING CHAIN, CHAIN ADJUSTER AND TENSIONER. VW AND AUDI FUEL PUMP CONTROL MODULE. PCV VALVE FAILURE.
TAKATA RECALL: RECEIVED WORTHLESS VW LETTER. BEEN DRIVING DANGEROUS CAR FOR 10 YEARS. DEFLATORS GET WORSE WITH AGE. CONTACTED VW DEALERS LOCALLY - NO PARTS ADN NO INFO.
