TAKATA RECALL. I RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE IN APRIL OF THIS YEAR STATING THAT NO REMEDIES WE'RE CURRENTLY AVAILABLE. GIVEN THE SEVERITY OF THE ISSUE, I CALLED MY LOCAL DEALER AND REQUESTED A LOANER VEHICLE WHICH I WAS DENIED. I THEN CALLED VOLKSWAGEN CUSTOMER CARE AND SPOKE WITH A REPRESENTATIVE. UPON SAYING I FELT UNSAFE DRIVING MY VEHICLE I WAS TOLD THAT IT WAS SAFE TO DRIVE AS LONG AS I DIDN'T CRASH, AFTER WHICH THE REPRESENTATIVE LAUGHED. WHILE I NEVER WISHED TO CAUSE AN ORDEAL OUT OF THIS RECALL, I FEEL DISRESPECTED BY VOLKSWAGEN. MY ONLY REQUEST WAS THAT I WOULD BE PROVIDED A LOANER VEHICLE AS I COMMUTE COLLECTIVELY OVER AN HOUR EVERY DAY ON THE HIGHWAY. I FEEL THAT VOLKSWAGEN IS NOT UPHOLDING A PROPER CUSTOMER SERVICE ATTITUDE AND THEY SHOULD BE LOOKED INTO. ADDING ON TO THAT, I WOULD STILL LIKE TO HAVE A LOANER VEHICLE OFFERED TO ME BY VOLKSWAGEN.

A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED AND THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER WHERE THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE AIR BAGS FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V079000 (AIR BAGS). THE PART TO DO THE REPAIR WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000. WHILE DRIVING A 2006 PASSAT 3.6L, THE OIL PRESSURE WARNING CAME ON. TOOK TO VW OF ORLAND PARK IL.THEY TOLD ME THE OIL PUMP BOLT IS BACKING OUT, IT HASN'T YET, BUT IT WILL, IT'S A COMMON PROBLEM. THEY RECCOMENDED A NEW OIL PUMP, BOLT INCLUDED, AND NEW TIMING KIT AS THAT WOULD HAVE SUFFERED RESIDUAL DAMAGE FROM THE BOLT BACKING OUT. THEY OFFERED TO DO THIS FOR $6000. A NEW ENGINE FOR $11,000. BEING DISGRUNTLED, THE LEAD TECH SUPERVISOR PULLED ME TO THE SIDE AND SAID THIS BOLT WAS FIXED IN LATE 2007 MODELS. I ASKED HIM HOW MUCH TO JUST REPLACE THE BOLT. HE TOLD ME $3000 + $12.00 FOR THE BOLT. I COULDN'T AFFORD THE REPAIR. VW OFFERED NO GOODWILL FOR ISSUE. EVERY TIME CAR IS STARTED, OIL PRESSURE WARNING SOUNDS AND THEN GOES OFF, NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHTS EVER COME ON. NO WEIRD SOUNDS. CAR IS NOT BEING DRIVEN NOW. VW IS AWARE OF THIS ISSUE AND HAS DONE NOTHING. ONE WRONGLY SIZED BOLT CAN CAUSE THE WHOLE ENGINE TO FAIL. VW' HAS BEEN HAVING PLENTY OF RECALLS LATELY, PUTTING LIVES IN DANGER. PLEASE INVESTIGATE THIS! THERE SHOULDN'T HAVE TO BE A BODY COUNT TO ISSUE A RECALL.

IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE CONTACT EXITED THE VEHICLE, IT ENGULFED IN FLAMES. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT WAS CONTACTED AND A REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A SALVAGE YARD WHERE IT WAS DEEMED DESTROYED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 115,000.

TAKATA RECALL THE DRIVER'S SIDE AIRBAG WAS RECALLED OVER A YEAR AGO, AND IT STILL HASN'T BEEN REPLACED. VW OF AMERICA GIVES NO TIMELINE AS TO WHEN IT WILL BE REPLACED. THIS HAS GONE WAY BEYOND A REASONABLE TIME PERIOD IN WHICH THE REPLACEMENTS COULD BE OBTAINED. MY VEHICLE IS NOT SAFE CURRENTLY. VW SAYS IT'S SAFE TO DRIVE, BUT NOT SAFE TO GET INTO AN ACCIDENT. I AM UNABLE TO DRIVE IT DUE TO THIS SERIOUS SAFETY PROBLEM.

THE FAILURE RECURRED MULTIPLE TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PUMP NEEDED TO BE REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 120,000.

TAKATA RECALL - IT HAS BEEN ALMOST A YEAR SINCE THIS RECALL AND THERE HAS BEEN NO REMEDY; JUST "WORKING ON IT". HOW LONG IS THE RECALL GOING TO TAKE? I DO NOT WANT TO GET IN AN ACCIDENT AND DIE FROM SOME COMPANIES NEGLIGENCE. AND, WHAT HAPPENS IF THIS CANNOT BE FIXED SOON?
WHY, NEATLY A YEAR LATER IS THERE NO FIX AVAILABLE FOR THE TAKATA AIRBAG ISSUE? WHILE THANKFULLY WE'VE NOT BEEN DIRECTLY AFFECTED, IT IS NOT ACCEPTABLE TO BE SUBJECTED TO THIS RISK 11 MONTHS AFTER DISCOVERY OF DEFECT. PLEASE PUT PRESSURE ON VW AND TAKATA TO BRING A RESOLUTION QUICKLY.
