THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE FAILURE WAS DUE TO AN UNKNOWN ENGINE CYLINDER FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 96,000.

THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE COOLANT LEVEL SENSOR MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 130,000.
WHILE DRIVING ON I95 MY RPMS DROPPED TO ZERO WITHOUT WARNING AND I WAS ABLE TO GET IT OFF THE ROAD. THE TOW TRUCK DRIVER SAID THE ENGINE WAS BLOWN. IT HAD 63,504 MILES ON IT AND THE REQUIRED MAINTENANCE HAD BEEN DONE LESS THAN 1600 MILES EARLIER. NO LIGHTS OR WARNING. LUCKILY I WAS ABLE TO GET IT OFF THE ROAD SAFELY.
TIMING BELT BREAKS TOO OFTEN. THE CAR HAS NOW HAD THE TIMING BELT REPLACE 3 TIMES SINCE I HAVE OWNED IT I BOUGHT IT AT 69,000 MILES I WAS REPLACED AT AROUND 74K THEN BROKE AND LEFT ME STRANDED ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AT NIGHT TIME AFTER HOURS AT 121K THEN HAS BROKE AGAIN AT 134K THIS IS SUPPOSED TO BE A 60K PART AND IS NOT LASTING LIKE IT SHOULD AND WHEN IT BREAKS CAUSES OTHER STUFF AROUND IT TO BE AFFECTED AS WELL. THE FIRST TIME I HAD TO REPLACE WATER PUMP, THE 2ND TIME WATER PUMP AS WELL AS ENGINE GASKETS AND IT COST ME $2600 TO FIX. THIS LAST TIME JUST THE WATER PUMP AND A WATER HOSE. THIS LAST TIME IT LEFT MY DAUGHTER STRANDED ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AFTER DARK ON HER WAY HOME FROM COLLEGE LUCKILY HER BOYFRIEND WAS ABLE TO COME PICK HER UP. THIS CAR IS NOTORIOUS FOR THE TIMING BELT ISSUE. ALL THREE TIMES THIS HAS BEEN REPAIRED BY 3 DIFFERENT SHOPS AND ALL THREE SAY THAT THIS CAR HAS MAJOR ISSUES DUE TO THE TIMING BELTS NOT BEING STURDY. CHEVY SHOULD BE REPLACING THESE CARS OR REFUNDING THE COST OF HAVING THESE REPAIRED YOU CAN'T EVEN RESELL TO PEOPLE DUE TO THIS ISSUE. ALSO I NEVER EVEN GOT A LETTER REGARDING THE HEAD LAMP RECALL. THE MECHANIC REPLACED THE THROTTLE BODY, PERFORMED A DOUBLE INTAKE SERVICE, AND TREATED THE FUEL WITH ETHANOL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 10,966.
I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AND THE CAR SMELLED LIKE IT WAS BURNING. AND, SMOKE BEGAN TO COME FROM UNDERNEATH THE HOOD. I GOT OFF THE FREEWAY AND I PARKED THE CAR IN FRONT OF A STORE.. I WAS DRIVING THROUGH TOWN,ALL OF A SUDDEN I HAD NO RPM'S AND THE CAR CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP . CALLED A TOW SERVICE AND HAD IT TOWED, THE MECHANIC EXPLAINED TO ME THAT THE TIMING BELT HAD SNAPPED AND IT HAS CAUSED INTERNAL DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE. FROM THE RESEARCH I HAVE DONE ONLINE, THIS SEEMS TO BE AN ONGOING PROBLEM WITH CHEVROLET, I JUST HATE TO THINK WHAT WOULD HAVE HAPPENED HAD IT BEEN ON A BUSY HIGHWAY, BECAUSE I HAD NO WARNING. *JS

I HAD TO CUT ACROSS TWO LANES OF TRAFFIC TO SAFELY MAKE IT TO THE SHOULDER OF THE ROAD. I BOUGHT THIS 2007 CHEVY AVEO BRAND NEW WITH ONLY 9 MILES ON IT. AFTER I PUT ABOUT 33,000 MILES THE A/C WENT OUT... ON A BRAND NEW CAR! THEN THE CONSOLE WITH THE SHIFTERS LIGHTS WENT OUT, BLINKERS WOULD STOP BLINKING AND JUST STAY GREEN. I WENT TO START MY CAR AT 10PM AND IT WOULDN'T START IT ACTED LIKE IT WAS GOING TO BE THEN KEPT CLICKING. SO I JUMPED IT AND DROVE AROUND TO CHARGE THE BATTERY. I HAD THE BATTERY TESTED AND THEY SAID EVERYTHING WAS FINE. GO BACK AND THE NEXT MORNING IT DOESN'T START AGAIN, ALL I GOT WAS A CLICKING SOUND WHEN TRYING TO START THE CAR. I TOOK IT TO A MECHANIC AND HE SAID THAT IT COULD BE THE STARTER OR THE ALTERNATOR AND THAT I SHOULD PAY TO GET THEM BOTH TESTED AND REPLACED IF NEEDED. THERE HAS GOT TO BE SOME TYPE OF A RECALL IF I GOOGLE IT AND EVERYONE HAS THE SAME ELECTRICAL AND ENGINE PROBLEMS. IT IS THE THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR ACCELERATOR POSITION SENSOR. I WAS TOLD THAT IF IT DON'T GET FIXED, EITHER THE GAS PEDAL WILL STICK OR IT COULD JUST STOP AND NOT GO ANYWHERE. I HAVE ONLY HAD THE CAR ALMOST 1 YR. AND IT ONLY HAS 44,000 MILES ON IT. *TR

THE DEALER ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THE HEAD GASKET WOULD NEED REPLACING AND PERFORMED THE REPAIRS. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 137,000 AND THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 122,000.
SPARK PLUG CABLES RUBBING ON ENGINE BOLT WHICH CAUSED CABLE TO ARC AND BURN ADDITIONAL CABLE. HAS FIRST TOLD THE VIBRATION OF THE ENGINE CAUSED CABLE TO WEAR. CAR MISFIRED AND SPURTED WHILE IN TRAFFIC, WHICH CAUSED SERIOUS TRAFFIC BACKUP. TOOK DIRECTLY TO DEALERSHIP, CABLES WERE ORDERED & REPLACE AT OWNERS EXPENSE. *TR

WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH, THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD CONTINUE TO MAINTAIN SPEED FOR MILES AS PRESSURE WAS REMOVED FROM THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE WOULD RECUR AT ANY SPEED. THE VEHICLE ALSO STALLED APPROXIMATELY FIFTY TIMES WITHOUT WARNING. IN ADDITION, THE VEHICLE WOULD DECELERATE INDEPENDENTLY, THE RPMS WOULD FLUCTUATE AND THE VEHICLE WOULD JERKS FORWARD ERRATICALLY WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DISCOVERED THAT WHILE THE TRANSMISSION WAS IN NEUTRAL, THE TIRES WOULD CONTINUE TO SPIN EXCESSIVELY ON WITHOUT DEPRESSING THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL. THE MECHANIC WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE OR REPAIR THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 51,000. UPDATED 6/8/11 *CN THE CONSUMER STATED THE CASE WAS CLOSED. 06/13/11
I BOUGHT MY AVEO NEW. AT ONLY 6,000 MILES THE MASTER CYLINDER FAILED AND 5,000 MILES LATER THE BRAKE BOOSTER FAILED AND I CRASHED--THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. GM WOULD FIXED THE BRAKE BOOSTER BUT NOT THE DAMAGE TO MY CAR! AT 13,000 MILES THE BRAKE DRUMS NEEDED TO BE RE-SURFACED, THE BRAKE ROTORS NEEDED TO BE CUT, AND I HAD TO GET NEW BRAKE PADS--AGAIN GM WOULD NOT FIX IT AND MADE ME PAY FOR IT. AT 16,000 MILES THE AIR BAG SENSOR FOR THE PASSENGER FAILED. AT 18,000 MILES THE GAS GAUGE FAILED AND THE SHIFTER GOT STUCK IN PARK, AND THE CRUISE CONTROL WOULD WORK ON AND OFF. AT 20,000 MILES THE ALL FOUR TIRES NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. AROUND THIS TIME, GAS MILEAGE DIPPED TO ABOUT 19-21MPG, BUT GM COULDN'T FIGURE OUT WHY. AT 30,000 MILES I HAD TO GET NEW ROTORS AND BRAKE PADS--AGAIN I HAD TO PAY FOR IT EVEN THOUGH THEY ARE WEARING OUT PREMATURELY. AT 35,000 MILES THE TRANSMISSION STARTED TO SHIFT HARD SO GM RECOMMENDED I CHANGE THE TRANSMISSION FLUID AT A COST $450 BECAUSE THE FLUID HAS A SPECIAL ADDITIVE THAT IS SHIPPED FROM KOREA! AT 44,000 MILES THE ENGINE DIED--MORE LIKE BLEW UP. GM SAID THAT IT IS MY FAULT FOR LETTING IT RUN TOO HOT, THOUGH I HAD NO WARNING FROM ANY GAUGES, LIGHTS, ECT... AGAIN I HAD TO FIX IT EVEN THOUGH I HAD THE 100,000 MILE WARRANTY. AT 48,000 MILES THE A/C NEEDED TO BE OVERHAULED--I HAD TO PAY FOR IT. AT 52,000 MILES I HIT A DEER AND AGAIN THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE INSURANCE COMPANY JUNKED IT. ABSOLUTELY WITHOUT A DOUBT IN MY MIND THE WORST CAR I HAVE EVER OWNED. GM SHOULD BE SUED FOR THIS CAR. THEY DO NOT HONOR THE WARRANTY AT ALL. THE SERVICE DEPARTMENTS TREATED ME WITH DISRESPECT. A COUPLE OF DEALERS REFUSED TO EVEN ACCEPT MY CAR FOR REPAIR. THE CAR IS VERY SCARY TO DRIVE AND NOT SAFE AT ALL. WITH ALL THE MONEY I SPENT FIXING THE CAR PLUS MY CAR PAYMENT EACH MONTH, I COULD HAVE EASILY PURCHASED A BMW INSTEAD. GM IS ABSOLUTELY THE WORST FOLKS TO DEAL WITH. NEVER AGAIN WILL I BUY OR SUPPORT ANYTHING FROM GM. *TR
BACK IN MAY OF 2008 I PICKED MY SON UP FROM SCHOOL, I SMELLED A SMELLED LIKE ANTIFREEZE. I STOPPED AT THE STORE BUT I DIDN'T THINK IT WAS MY CAR. ABOUT AN HOUR LATER, WHEN WE WENT TO CHURCH, I SMELLED THE SAME SMELL, BEING WE WERE THE ONLY CAR IN THE PARKING LOT, I KNEW THEN IT HAD TO BE MY CAR. WE PUT WATER IN IT AND WAITED UNTIL THE NEXT MORNING TO TAKE TO THE DEALERSHIP WE PURCHASED THE CAR FROM. THEY SAID IT APPEARED THAT I HAD HIT SOMETHING AND THE BOTTOM OF THE RADIATOR WAS DAMAGED HOWEVER I KEPT SAYING I DIDN'T HIT ANYTHING AND THEY TOLD ME TO TRY TO TURN IT IN TO MY INSURANCE AND SEE IT THEY WOULD COVER IT. ONE MAN EVEN WALKED ME TO THE CAR AND SAID IF I NEEDED HELP THAT "HELP ME OUT". THAT AFTERNOON I WAS ON THE PHONE WITH THE INSURANCE COMPANY TELLING THEM EXACTLY WHAT THE DEALERSHIP SAID THAT I HAD TO HAVE HIT SOMETHING BUT I DIDN'T REMEMBER HITTING ANYTHING WOULD THEY COVER IT. IN THE END THE INSURANCE COMPANY COVERED THE REPAIR OF THE RADIATOR PLUS 5 DAYS OF RENTAL CAR. WHEN WE WENT TO HAVE THE REPAIR DONE ON THE RADIATOR, WE ASKED FOR THE OLD RADIATOR BACK. MY HUSBAND TOOK IT BACK TO HIS SHOP AND DID A PRESSURE TEST ON IT. THE HOLE WAS ACTUALLY IN THE MIDDLE OF IT NOT IN THE BOTTOM AND YOU COULD SEE WHERE THE FAN SHROUD LINED UP WHERE THE RADIATOR MOUNTS TO IT AND IT HAD RUBBED A HOLE IN IT CAUSING THIS WHOLE PROBLEM. EVEN THOUGH THE INSURANCE COVERED THIS, I STILL THOUGHT RETRIBUTION NEEDED TO BE MADE BECAUSE PERHAPS THIS WAS A LEMON CAR OR EITHER A RECALL NEEDED TO BE DONE. THIS HAPPENED AT 23,000 MILES APPROXIMATELY. THEN THE FOLLOWING MONTH THE SAME FAN SHROUD RUBBED A HOLE IN THE AIR CONDITION LINE AND WE WERE WITHOUT AIR ABOUT 2,000 MILES LATER AND THE DEALERSHIP TOOK RESPONSIBILITY FOR THIS AND COVERED THIS UNDER THE WARRANTY. IT REALLY DIDN'T MAKE ANY SENSE. I HAVE CALLED GMAC AND THEY HAVE SAID THE DEALERSHIP ARE THEIR EYES AND EARS AND WE HAVE GIVEN THEM THE OLD RADIATOR BACK SO THEY COULD SEE WHAT WE SAW . *TR
