THE GEARSHAFT WON'T COME OUT OF PARK. I HAD THIS REPAIRED AT THE DEALERSHIP ABOUT TWO YEARS AGO AND IT IS NOW HAPPENING AGAIN AND PAID $300 FOR A GROUND WIRE. MY CAR CURRENTLY HAS 90000 MILES ON IT. I WOULD LIKE TO FILE A FORMAL COMPLIANT REGARDING THE SAME ISSUE. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CHEVROLET AVEO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH, THERE WAS A BURNING SMELL INSIDE THE VEHICLE. AS A RESULT, THE INSTRUMENT PANEL BECAME INOPERABLE. IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE FAILED TO SHIFT INTO THE PARK POSITION. ALSO, THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE IGNITION KEY FAILED TO DISENGAGE FROM THE IGNITION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE FUSE BOX WIRING NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V261000 (EXTERIOR LIGHTING). THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 71,000. UPDATED 4/29/15*CN
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CHEVROLET AVEO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE GEAR SHIFTER WOULD NOT RELEASE FROM PARK AND CAUSED THE BRAKE LIGHT SWITCH TO FAIL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER TO HAVE A DIAGNOSTIC PERFORMED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. WHILE CAR WAS PARKED I WAS UNABLE TO SHIFT TO DRIVE. I HAD TO CALL A TOW TRUCK TO MY JOB AND HAVE IT TOWED. LUCKILY THE TOW GUY KNEW WHERE THE EMERGENCY BYPASS WAS OR ELSE I WOULD HAVE HAD TO WAIT FOR A CRANE TO LIFT IT. AT THE DEALERSHIP THEY HAD TO REPLACE MY BRAKE SENSOR AND MY GEAR SHIFT. OUR CHEVY AVEO ONCE AGAIN WAS BROKEN THREE TIMES IN ONE MONTH THE CLUTCH STUCK IN PARK MODE UNABLE TO GO INTO DRIVE MODE CHEVY AVEO WAS EARLIER WITH CLUTCH STUCK ON JUNE 15, 2008, JULY 15, 2008 AND JULY 21, 2008. CHEVY AVEO FAILED TO RESPOND TO RECALL THE CHEVY AVEO AS THIS IS A SERIOUS HAZARD TO MY FAMILY. COUPLE OF OBSERVATIONS: CHEVY AVEO HAD A FULL TANK WHEN IT WAS DELIVERED ON 7/21/2008 AT 14889 MILES. WHEN I PICKED UP THE CHEVY AVEO ON 7/23/08 IT SHOWED AN 1/8 FUEL WAS USED DURING THIS SERVICE SHOWING MILEAGE AT 14962. GAS BEING EXPENSIVE AT THIS TIME I WAS WONDERING WHETHER IT WAS TEST DRIVEN FOR 75 MILES? SECONDLY, TEAM CHEVROLET INVOICE STATES " CUSTOMER STATES THE KEY WOULD COME OUT OF THE IGNITION? I NEVER STATED THIS AT ANY TIME. THE PURPOSE WHY THE CHEVY AVEO WAS SENT BACK TO THE SERVICE CENTER WAS BECAUSE THE CLUTCH SHIFT WAS STUCK ONCE AGAIN IN PARKING MODE AND WOULD NOT MOVE BACK TO DRIVE MODE. THERE WAS NO PROBLEM WITH THE KEY AT ANY GIVEN TIME, IGNITION KEY HAD FREE MOVEMENT. THANKS FOR YOUR SERVICE. *TR UPDATED 07/24/08
BEARING AND HUB ASSEMBLY HAD TO BE REPLACED ON LEFT SIDE AND ALSO THE ADJUSTER ASSEMBLY ON THE DRIVERS FRONT SEAT HAD TO BE REPLACED. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CHEVROLET AVEO. ONCE THE VEHICLE IS SHIFTED INTO PARK, IT WILL NOT SHIFT INTO ANY OTHER GEAR. THE CONTACT MANAGED TO MOVE THE GEAR OUT OF PARK WHEN SHE STUCK A SHARP OBJECT INTO THE GEARBOX. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN TO THE DEALER FOUR TIMES AND THEY REPLACED THE GEAR SHIFTER, BUT THAT DID NOT CORRECT THE FAILURE. THE DEALER ALSO THOUGHT IT WAS THE BRAKES, BUT THAT ALSO DID NOT CORRECT THE FAILURE. A REPORT WAS FILED WITH THE MANUFACTURER AND THEY STATED THAT THE DEALER WOULD REPAIR THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT RECENTLY NOTICED THAT THE AIR BAG LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATING. THE DEALER REPLACED THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE AIR BAG. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 1,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 37,000.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER, WHO INFORMED THAT THE CLUTCH AND SHIFT LINKAGE WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE CLUTCH WAS REPLACED THREE TIMES PREVIOUSLY. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED FOR THE RECENT FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE ISSUE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 9,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CHEVROLET AVEO. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN FAILING EVER SINCE IT WAS PURCHASED. WHILE DRIVING BETWEEN 35-70 MPH, THE CONTACT SMELLS SOMETHING BURNING. THE CONTACT LEFT THE VEHICLE AT THE DEALER ON FOUR OCCASIONS FOR REPAIR, BUT NO WORK WAS EVER PERFORMED. THE ROAD CONDITIONS WERE DRY AND SUNNY AT THE TIME OF THE INCIDENT. OCCASIONALLY, WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH, THE VEHICLE WILL NOT SWITCH GEARS AND THE CRUISE CONTROL DOES NOT OPERATE PROPERLY. THE HEADLIGHTS TURN ON AND OFF WITHOUT THE VEHICLE TURNED ON. THE AUTOMATIC DOOR LOCKS NO LONGER WORK AND THE CONTACT HAS TO USE HER KEY TO ENTER THE VEHICLE. AFTER LOCKING THE DOORS, THEY SOMETIMES DO NOT OPEN FROM WITHIN THE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT. THE CONTACT CARRIES A HAMMER IN THE VEHICLE IN CASE SHE HAS TO BREAK THE WINDOWS TO ENTER THE VEHICLE. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 5,080 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 56. UPDATED 5/30/08 *CN THE AIR BAG LIGHT STAYED ON, THE TRUNK LID WOULD POP OPEN WHILE THE CONSUMER WAS DRIVING, THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR WOULD OPEN AS WELL, THE TRANSMISSION HAD A STRANGE ROARING SOUND AND IT WAS ALSO HARD TO UPSHIFT AND DOWNSHIFT, THE ODOMETER WOULD JUMP FORWARD ON ITS OWN WHEN IT WAS PARKED AND THEN RESTARTED, THE HORN WOULD BLOW ON ITS OWN WHEN NO ONE WAS IN THE VEHICLE.
