WHILE DRIVING ON HIGHWAY A MESSAGE SAYING REDUCED ENGINE POWER CAME ON AND VEHICLE WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. ALSO THE SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT CAME ON WITH IT AND SERVICE STABILITRAK CAME ON AS WELL.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 CHEVROLET CRUZE EQUIPPED WITH GOODYEAR ASSURANCE TIRES, SIZE P215/55R17. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE TIRE WAS SEPARATING FROM THE RIM AND LEAKING AIR. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TIRE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE TIRE WAS REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN AND VEHICLE FAILURE MILEAGE WERE UNKNOWN. THE APPROXIMATE TIRE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 43,000.
THE OUTER RIM OF THE WHEEL BROKE OFF FROM THE INNER 'STAR' OF THE WHEEL LEAVING THE INNER PART OF THE RIM AND THE LUG NUTS ATTACHED TO THE CAR. THE TIRE AND OUTER RIM DETACHED FROM THE CAR CAUSING DAMAGE TO THE CAR'S BODY. THE CAR FELL TO THE PAVEMENT WHEN THE OUTER RIM BROKE AWAY CAUSING BODY DAMAGE TO THE FRONT END OF THE CAR. THIS OCCURRED AROUND 7:30PM ON 2/29/2016. THE PAVEMENT WAS DRY, CLEAR AND FREE OF DEBRIS.
THREE WEEKS AGO, I STARTED HEARING A NOISE FROM THE BACK LEFT TIRE. TWO DAYS AGO THE ESP AND TRACTION LIGHT WENT ON AS WELL AS THE BRAKE FLUID LIGHT. EVERYTHING JUST STARTED HITTING AT THE SAME TIME. I THINK THE CAR IS RIGGED TO HAVE EVERYTHING GO BAD ONCE THE WARRANTY PERIOD IS UP. WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IF THIS IS COVERED SINCE SO MANY PEOPLE ARE HAVING PROBLEMS WITH IT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS BUT THEY WERE UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. THE TIRE WAS REPLACED AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE VEHICLE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 30,000 AND THE TIRE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 4,000. THE DOT NUMBER AND VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.

WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE TIRE PRESSURE LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED, INDICATING THAT THE THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE TIRE WAS FLAT. AFTER INSPECTING THE VEHICLE, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE REAR DRIVER SIDE TIRE WAS FLAT AND NOT THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE TIRE, AS THE WARNING LIGHT INDICATED. THE CONTACT REPLACED THE TIRE WITH THE SPARE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING OR REPAIRS. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 26,861.

LEFT FRONT TIRE SLOWLY LOSING AIR. WHILE 2011 CHEVY CRUZE WAS AT MATICK CHEVROLET FOR STEERING SHAFT RECALL (@ APPROX. 9000 MILES) I REQUESTED THAT THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT INSPECT THE LEFT FRONT TIRE FOR AN AIR LEAK. I SUGGESTED IT COULD BE THE INTERNAL AIR PRESSURE SENSOR WAS SLOWLY LEAKING. I WORK IN THE AUTO SUPPLY CHAIN AND I HAVE HEARD OF THE PRESSURE SENSORS LEAKING AIR. DEALERSHIP INFORMED ME THAT CHECKED FOR AIR LEAKS IN A WATER TANK AND COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING. THE TIRE CONTINUES TO LOSE APPROXIMATELY 5 PSI OVER A 3 OR 4 WEEK PERIOD. DEALERSHIP DID NOT OFFER TO REPLACE THE SENSOR AND TOLD ME SOME TIRES "JUST" LEAK AIR. *KB

THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 5 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 4,800.
