On April 25th, 2025 while traveling on Interstate 20 at 70+mph speeds with my children in my vehicle and 30 weeks pregnant, with no indication of an issue my 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe suffered catastrophic engine failure. There was zero warning from the vehicle including noises/electronic display warnings that this was fixing to occur. In the middle of going 70+mph surrounded by traffic on a busy interstate the vehicle just shut off completely. I was able to use what momentum I had from my speed to get on to the shoulder. However, the failure prevented me from being able to turn on my signal to alert other drivers of my merging and prevented the use of my emergency flashers to signal once on the shoulder immobile. The vehicle would not start up again after that, and I had to call a tow truck to take my vehicle to the nearest certified Chevrolet service center. When the tow truck arrived the vehicle would not even shift into neutral allowing them to load it without potentially causing more damage. It had to be drug with the wench in park onto the tow truck bed. Once at the nearest service center I was told it would be up to 3 weeks + before they could do a diagnostics. I was 14 hours from home when this happened, and now had to pay to have my Tahoe towed 14 hours back to the service center near my home. On May 8th the failure was determined to be caused by this recall, specifically the crankshaft. The dealership has lied and said they've ordered a new motor and it came in, then called to tell me they ordered the wrong motor. They said they ordered the correct one and it would be in within 14 days, and that was 25 days ago. They called today June 16, 2025 to tell me there is still no update on when my engine will ship to complete this repair. The dealership has also refused to assist me with any loaner vehicle or rental assistance even though GM has told me I am entitled to it under this recall. GM has moved my case to Parts Delay team and I still have not been contacted.
The contact owns a 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe. The contact stated that while driving approximately 70 MPH the vehicle stalled. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer who diagnosed the vehicle and determined that the engine had seized and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The contact was informed that the VIN was included in the NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V274000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING). The contact indicated that the vehicle had experienced the failure listed in the recall. The failure mileage was 47,000. The VIN was invalid.
While starting from a stop the engine stuttered and resulted in a major loss of power. Luckily this occurred pulling out of our driveway on to a quiet neighborhood street. Several warning lights and messages went off including the engine and transmission system warning, “service ESC”, “Service Traction Control”, and the emission system warning. After driving it to the dealership at 30mph since the shaking and banging noise was so bad, the dealer diagnosed it as a cylinder 6 caused by a failed lifter and lifter rod. Resulting repair involved lifters and rods in that same bank at a $3500 repair. The vehicle was just over 4 years old with 79,250 miles.Repair invoice available upon request.
While traveling on the highway one day, my 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe began warning lights on the dashboard. Shortly after, it running roughly,, and jerking, so I pulled over to investigate. There no visible smoke, so I drove to the nearest auto parts store, where they ran a diagnostic test that returned a code of P0306. I then took vehicle back to the dealership where have always received oil changes and repairs. I have never visited any other dealership, relying on certified GM/Chevrolet dealerships. After inspecting the vehicle, they informed me that the lifters needed replacement advised that it would be best to replace the engine entirely. Upon further research, I discovered that issue has been affecting many people in our area and across the United States. This needs to be addressed, as the vehicle is only three years old, purchased brand new with zero miles, and I have not done anything out of the ordinary to cause this problem. The vehicle being 70,000 and 12.000 for repairs is insane.
Check engine light comes on. Car suddenly stalls and engine shutters, shuts off and on. Goes into limp mode as engine shutters at about 15 miles per hour. GM has not included this 2021 Tahoe which is the same exact condition under Product Safety Recall N212332040 "Stall While Driving". That recall was issued at the same time or month as this Tahoe was built and sold and should have been included. This Tahoe was towed to the dealer and GM has not been able to supply parts. The Tahoe will soon have been at the dealer for 60 days with no solution. The recall build dates should be expanded to include all GM vehicles with this defect. It is explained as: "The fuel pump power control modules in these vehicles may contain a supplier manufacturing defect that can cause the fuel pump to fail or operate intermittently, interrupting the flow of fuel to the engine. If the engine does not receive adequate fuel, the vehicle may unexpectedly stall. The driver may see a check engine light, receive an OnStar notification that a Diagnostic Trouble Code has been set, or experience a rough running engine. The vehicle may also be placed into a reduced power mode. A vehicle stall without warning could increase the risk of a crash, especially at high speeds"
My vehicle has a little over 15000 miles on it. On Thursday April 3rd, while driving 35 mph in town, my RPMs shot up to 4 and the vehicle would not respond to accelleration. A few seconds later the engine light appeared. I managed to get the vehicle home going no faster than 42 mph off and on. Upon arriving home I realized I had no reverse in the vehicle. I immediately called the dealership and was told to bring it in. They didn't look at it until the following Monday April 7th when they determined the Transmission Control Module went out. GM told them they "couldn't find that part anywhere". Thr vehicle still sits behind the dealership and GM has no answers and has already hinted that it may be at least 60 days. This is unacceptable.
The headlight adjustment screws fail causing the projector adjustment to bottom out leaving limited visibility when driving in the dark. The headlights then do not raise back up any longer.
The contact owns a 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe. The contact stated that the engine was consuming an excessive amount of oil, and there was an abnormal knocking sound coming from the engine. Additionally, the vehicle hesitated and failed to accelerate as needed, with blue smoke coming from the exhaust pipes. The check engine warning light was intermittently illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who determined that there were metal shavings in the engine oil and that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 51,000.
Fuel Pump Module Failure at 27k miles, experienced total loss of power while driving. GM issued a recall for this part in other 2021 Tahoes, but said my vehicle is not included in the recall. Researching online this seems to be a large problem with this model year, yet they did not recall all vehicles. Clearly mine was effected.
2nd glow plug failure
After I washed my 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe, I went to run some errands. As I pushed the start button, the car would try to start but did not. I tried several times without success. I had the truck towed to Ed Morse Chevrolet in Sunrise, Florida. My odometer is at approximately 43,000 miles. About 3-4 months ago, at 42,000 miles, I had the same situation. I had to have the truck towed to Ed Morse. At the time, the Service Writer told me it was probably the fuel cell module and that Chevy has been a problem with them. The Service Writer surprisingly admitted that this issue could cause the truck to stop in the middle of your commute! I told him that an issue this serious needs a recall. So, today, when AAA picked up my truck, he said that this happens frequently and he towed many Chevrolet Tahoes and pickup trucks with this issue. The AAA technician even reiterated that the fuel cell modular failure shuts down your vehicle while driving! This is insane and troubling. Within 1000 miles, I will need 2 fuel cell modules and there is no guarantee that this one will last. I'm [XXX] so not much night driving. The other night I left a meeting when I turned on headlights one is pointing down. Difficult to see and hard to stay between the lines. My vehicle has never ben in an accident nor had lights repaired. Checking online I see this is a problem for many Tahoe, Suburban and Yukon owners and perhaps even pickup trucks. In my opinion this represents a serious safety concern. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
The contact owns a 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe. The contact stated while driving 70 MPH, the check engine warning light and other unknown warning lights illuminated. The message "Loss of Oil Pressure" was displayed, and the vehicle made an abnormally loud banging sound. The contact was able to continue driving at slow speeds with the hazard lights engaged. The contact drove to the dealer, where he was employed. The dealer diagnosed that the engine lifters had failed. The vehicle was then towed to the Chevrolet dealer, where it was diagnosed that the lifters had failed. The dealer provided an estimated fee for the repair. The vehicle was towed to Redline Performance LLC, where it was diagnosed that there were metal shavings in the oil pump, camshaft, and in other unknown parts, along with the lifters failure. The mechanic replaced the lifters, the connecting rod, the camshaft, the oil pump, and other unknown parts; however, the failure recurred after picking up and driving the vehicle to the residence. Additionally, there was smoke coming from the engine. The vehicle was towed to Stan McNabb Chevrolet Columbia (101 S James Campbell Blvd, Columbia, TN 38401), who informed the contact that the vehicle would not be diagnosed by the dealer. The contact became aware that the VIN was included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V274000 (Engine and Engine Cooling), which the contact related to the failure; however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 66,000. VIN tool confirms parts not available.
Vehicle smells heavily of gasoline/fuel exhausts to the point of headaches. Vehicle obtained just over one year ago currently with dealer.
i have a 2021 Tahoe with 68,000 miles on it. On March 14 my transmission started slipping while driving. the RPM would rev up, the car would jerk forward and then the RPM would fall back down. did this to me 6 times while driving. i got my car home, called the dealership. went to drive it to the dealership and the car would no longer go in reverse. had to have the car towed to the dealership.
Driving on a highway to Dallas and vehicle loss power and locked up in the middle of the highway. Was stranded on the highway for 4 hours. Vehicle would not start up and had to get towed to local dealership. Dealership diagnose the problem and stated that the engine has failed. I got the vehicle towed back home to my local dealership and they confirmed that the engine has failed. The vehicle showed no signs of engine issues. GM needs to recall this vehicle.
The contact owns a 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle jerked and failed to accelerate as intended while depressing the accelerator pedal. The contact was able to pull over to the side of the road before the vehicle stalled. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was towed to a dealer; however, the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The vehicle was then towed to the residence. The vehicle was again towed to the dealer, where it was diagnosed, and determined that an engine valve had failed, and the lifter lock pin spring had failed, which caused the engine to misfire and engine failure. The contact was informed that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle remained at the dealer unrepaired due to the cost. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V274000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING); however, the VIN was not included. The contact stated that the first year the vehicle was purchased the vehicle failed to restart, and several attempts were needed to start the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer. The contact stated that an unknown electrical system repair was performed. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was unknown.
We had a failed lifter that caused bent rods which caused scratches on the crank shaft which caused us to have to replace the engine. After a simple internet search I have found the lifter failure is very common with gms 5.3 v8. We were told oil needs to be changed at least every 5000 miles although the vehicle prompts you around 7000.
2 incidents of complete engine power loss while driving. Luckily was able to roll off road safely to curb. Dashboard glitch/flashing multiple/various message, including check engine, conditions not ideal to shift, etc. Would not re-start/shift when attempted. Tried disconnecting battery cable completely and re-connecting and that seemed to 're-set' the system and engine re-started. Incidents were about 30 days apart. "This battery reset" was tried because approx 1 year prior after leaving Tahoe parked at airport for a 7 day trip, it would not start, completely dead. Battery charge/jump would not work...watched youtube videos and someone said to try disconnect/reconnect cable and it worked to start it up at that time & did take it into Dealership after that incident and no-cost repairs were made for that issue. Called Chevy 3/25/25 on this power loss while driving issue to ask for information/assistance, they advised to take to dealership for diagnostic info/report and depending on result/cause might assist with costs to repairs. Appointment set for 3/28/2025 with Salem Oregon Chevrolet.
The contact owns a 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe. The contact stated that upon coming to a complete stop, the vehicle suddenly jolted forward independently. The vehicle returned to normal functionality, but the failure became a regular occurrence. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who diagnosed a failure with the valve body. The vehicle was not repaired due to part availability. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but provided no assistance. The failure mileage was 57,000.
The contact owns a 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed at night, the contact became aware that the headlamps failed to provide adequate illumination. After a visual inspection, the contact observed that the headlamps were loose within the assembly and were dramatically tilted at a downward angle. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who diagnosed a failure with the headlamp adjuster. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 60,000.
The contact owns a 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe. The contact stated that while her husband was driving at an undisclosed speed, several unknown warning lights illuminated, and the engine made knocking sounds. The message "Service Transmission" was displayed. The contact's husband pulled over and turned off the vehicle. The vehicle failed to restart immediately. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who replaced the camshaft retainer, valve tensioner kit, gaskets, seals, lifters, engine bolts, rods, and pipes; however, the "Service Transmission" message displayed again while driving. The dealer was made aware of the failure, but the vehicle was not yet diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but informed the contact that there was no recall associated with the VIN. The failure mileage was approximately 89,678.
Sudden engine failure while driving. Was able to pull to the side of the road with a few hundred feet. Repair required full engine replacement. Have to other friends that drive similar gm products that also experience engine failure with 3 weeks of our incident.
Info center with radio, vehicle info, on star keeps going black screen. When this happens I loose all control of info center and on star goes out where no location would be available if the vehicle was in an accident. This is safety concern because with no automatic notifications of accident no one would know if vehicle was in an accident. The vehicle has been to dealer 4 times for this problem since February of this year. Each time the dealer says it needs another update each time. GM is having this issue with many of the Vehicles like this Tahoe. On Star is also aware of the issue too. GM knows there's an issue but now they are saying I have to pay for an update because I am out of my extended warranty even though this has been an ongoing problem which started when I was in warranty. This has to be a programming issue that they need to fix. The vehicle has to be shut off for up to an hour for screen and controls to come back on which is safety issue because no way to change any settings for vehicle and safety backup because of no on star.
The contact owns a 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe. The contact stated that while his wife was driving 45 MPH, the vehicle hesitated. In addition, while attempting to shift the into drive, the gear shifter failed to respond as needed. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The contact stated that the dealer was contacted. The vehicle was towed to a dealer where it was diagnosed and determined that the valve body assembly needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The VIN was not included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V797000 (POWER TRAIN). The manufacturer was notified of the failure but offered no assistance. The manufacturer referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline to report the failure. The failure mileage was 68,000.
Purchased vehicle 10/30/2024 with approximately 65,000 miles. 4 months later at 69,100 miles transmission failed and replaced.
Valve body for 10 speed transmission suddenly malfunctioned while driving on I-95 at 60mph causing rear wheels to lock up for couple of seconds. Then, Engine rpm went to 5000. Error message displayed"reduced acceleration, drive with care" and "Unable to shift soon, service transmission soon". Upon taking to dealer, service advisor mentioned that it could be valve body issue. which is very common for these vehicles. After diagnosis from dealer, there were two codes: P0770 and P0776. Upon some research it was found that these issues are indeed very common for 10speed GM transmission. But, GM hasn't done much to address it. GM acknowledged the issue in their Oct, 2023 bulletin. This is a safety issue especially at highway speeds.
The contact owns a 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe. The contact stated that while attempting to start the vehicle, the vehicle failed to start as intended. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The contact attempted to start the vehicle several times, however the vehicle failed to start. The contact stated that the vehicle was parked in an underground parking lot. The contact stated that four tow trucks attempted to tow the vehicle; however, the transmission had to be disconnected from underneath the vehicle to remove the vehicle from the underground parking garage. The vehicle was then towed to the dealer where it was diagnosed with a failed fuel pump power control module. The contact was informed that the fuel pump power control module needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The contact was informed of NHTSA Campaign Number: 21V739000 (Fuel System, Gasoline); however, the VIN was not included in the recall. In addition, the contact stated that when the vehicle was retrieved from the dealer after the repair, the failure reoccurred. The contact stated the vehicle was started, and the vehicle was driven to the residence without the failure reoccurring. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case was filed. The contact was advised to contact the NHTSA Hotline to report the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 49,064.
1st. While driving at highway speeds my vehicle disengaged from adaptive cruise control when no cars were in view of sensors. However, cars were behind me, making it a little scary. Happened once but I haven't had my vehicle to know if it would happen again. 2nd. Car has a vibration at speeds of 30 to 40 mph. Vehicle has literally been at dealership since February 10th, 2025 with no eta for valve body in sight.
I was driving along the highway at 11pm when I the vehicle started shaking and I heard strange sounds coming from outside the vehicle. I pulled over to inspect and realized it was coming from the engine bay. The engine was making knocking, rattling, and belt slipping noises and the entire vehicle was shaking and the engine also stuttering. I was able to drive the vehicle to a nearby plaza where I had it towed the following morning. There were no warning signs, the vehicle ran properly up until this occurred. The dealership inspected it and told me the engine needs to be replaced and it was likely that a rod bearing that went bad. This happened nearly 2 months ago and I am still waiting for a new engine.
On a few occasions the emergency / parking brake auto releases when parked on a slight incline while the engine is running and transmission is in park.
Engine knocking while accelerating. Told by Chevy dealership that a thruster is broken. Car is only 4 years old with 60k miles. Unfortunately, not under warranty. Quoted $5,000 for fix. No errors on dash or visuals of the problem.
The contact owns a 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe. The contact stated while making a right turn, the vehicle lost automotive power. No warning light was illuminated. The contact stated that the transmission was stuck in park(P). The vehicle was towed to a local independent mechanic and was diagnosed with fuel module failure. The contact was informed that the fuel module needed to be replaced. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer where it was diagnosed at the owner’s expense. The vehicle was not repaired due to the cost. Upon further investigation, the contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 21V739000 (Fuel System, Gasoline); however, the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 80,000.
On 2 occasions the dash lights and gauges do not turn on when the vehicle is on. The first time this happened I was driving and was no longer able to see my speed or any other details provided by the gauges. We changed the fuse and it seemed to work for 1 day. The next day I turned the vehicle on, was able to drive but none of the dash features were functioning again. Will be taking to dealership when available scheduling to have it evaluated.
My vehichle will not go in reverse my wheels are locking up and also my car is going over 6000 rpm when going down the highway and not wanting to shift gears where it is a safety concern for myself and my kids well being
I want to file a complaint on Chevy I have a high country, 2021, my dealership has had it for over 2 months, can't get the part to fix it - valve body- They have another one there, that's been there for 5 months, can't get the part. So, 2 Tahoes at same dealership, same problem, and can't get the part to fix. I have escalated to chevy, have a case number, chevy themselves can't get the part to fix my truck. But I still have to pay for it-big payment for something, I can't drive, isn't worth anything for trade and useless- I am furious. I have been a lifetime chevy owner-and this is changing my mind. Last nights communication with chevy escalation please read: Dear STACEY, We have the following update for your 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe, case number [XXX]. We are still experiencing a delay on the part(s) needed to repair your 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe. We understand this is a significant inconvenience and we continue to work diligently to resolve the delay. If further information is made available, you will be contacted by your dealer or myself. Thank you again for your patience and please contact me to discuss any additional questions or concerns you may have. I can be reached at the number listed below or emailed at CustomerCare@Chevrolet.com (please reply with history to this email for fastest response). AND MY RESPONSE: Thank you for the update. However Janet, if you can not find the part. I want my truck fixed asap. If that means a new transmission then that means a new transmission. This is a Chevy problem and Chevy knows it. Otherwise, payoff my truck. Give me full value so I can trade it I owe $54k. Not to be a complete rude person. But if my truck doesn’t get fixed fast. I’m going to start escalating this to who ever will listen I know this isn’t your fault. But it’s not mine either. And I have a $1300 a month payment for something I can’t drive. And Chevy can’t fix! Vehicle has no warning of issues. Regular maintenance had been performed and had 80k miles. Driving down a 4 lane the engine locked up and lost power. We have been waiting on it to be repaired for 4 months now. The engine is back ordered from GM and no one can find used ones. We found a refurbished one but it also locked up within 30 minutes of being installed. I was warrantied so now we are having ours rebuilt but is costing us $14k.
My wife was driving the vehicle when all of a sudden the engine started knocking and throwing a bunch of codes. The engine has a bottom end knock and it seems this is a known problem with these engines.
Service safety restraint system notification is coming on, vehicle has 45,000 miles on it.
Statement of Safety Issue for 2021 Tahoe Transmission Vehicle Information: Make and Model: 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe VIN: [XXX] Issue Description: I have been receiving the warning message "Service Transmission. Unable to Shift Soon." multiple times, specifically on [XXX] and again on [XXX]. This issue is particularly concerning as there is an existing recall on the 2021 Tahoe for a transmission problem that can cause the rear wheels to lock up or result in the vehicle suddenly losing the ability to shift, as explained by a GMC transmission technician. Attempts to Resolve: I have contacted multiple dealerships to attempt to get my transmission diagnosed. Unfortunately, all dealerships within my area are backed up with transmission work for 4-6 weeks. I have spoken to multiple dealership service departments and have been informed that there are numerous vehicles currently experiencing this same exact issue. Some vehicles are continuing to drive, while others are being stranded on the side of the road, unable to shift. Safety Concern: The safety concern, as stated in the recall, is that my rear wheels may lock up or my vehicle may suddenly lose the ability to shift. This is particularly alarming for me as I have to drive over a large steep bridge every day to go to work, and there is no emergency lane while traversing the bridge. I am terrified to continue driving, but I only have one vehicle for my family (this 2021 Tahoe) and no dealership has a loaner vehicle available due to the high quantity of transmission errors. Conclusion: Given the severity of the issue and the potential safety risks, I urgently request assistance in addressing this transmission problem as soon as possible. The current situation is untenable and poses a significant danger to my safety and the safety of others on the road. I am getting heavy oil consumption and the dealer just keeps on wanting to run tests and not fix the actual issue
As many have already complained, the headlight adjuster screw for the drivers side of the headlights of the vehicle always break or get stripped out even at low mileage, causing the headlight of the drivers side to point down onto the road and being unable to illuminate anything past the very front of the vehicle at night. This is a serious hazard that is not possible to fix or adjust without a large bill at the dealership. The drivers side headlight is pointed down and me myself, has resorted to adjusting the passenger side headlight to point up to compensate for this issue. This is causing many safety issues as I cannot see anything past 1-2 feet from the front.
Vehicle just lost propulsion and would not move. Engine was running but just came out of gear and went into neutral at 70mph. Pulled off highway and vehicle would not go back into drive. Would not go into any gear except park. After a while it went into drive and would not go over 30mph. Limped into a nearby dealership and dropped it off. It took GM 47 days to figure out the issue yet the new part was installed immediately. Some sort of computer calibration glitch and GM didn't know the answer till I threatened a lawsuit. Still not confident it was repaired correctly. Dealership was fine and informative but GM blew me off.
On [XXX] I was driving in the [XXX] in El Paso Texas at about [XXX] I was about to enter [XXX} and the vehicle suddenly stopped with no warning! I was able to pull to the side and put the blinkers because the traffic was heavy and could of had a vehicle crash into me if I had not maneuver the vehicle quickly(My two daughters where with me in the vehicle). The vehicle prompted to start the vehicle, which I did so and continued my way. As soon as I was able to get into the [XXX] the check engine light turned on, and the forward collision warning message on the display. I stopped to my nearest Autozone to get some help as the vehicle started to make a noise too. They connected their computer and told me that the vehicle was given a message of a faulty cylinder, they told me I should not move the vehicle until I had it inspected on a GM dealership. Which I did on Friday December 20, 2024, I am waiting for a full diagnostic to see what had happened to my vehicle. The contact owns a 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe. The contact stated that while driving 35-40 MPH, the vehicle stalled without warning. The vehicle failed to restart. The contact waited with the hazard lights flashing. The contact stated that after approximately 6 attempts the vehicle restarted. After driving a short distance, the vehicle stalled again. The contact was able to coast to a nearby gas station. The contact made several more attempts to start the vehicle after waiting for a while, to restart the vehicle. The contact was able to drive to the residence. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who diagnosed that the fuel pump power control module (Part # 13544060) had failed and needed to be replaced. The dealer was unable to repair the vehicle due to the part not being available. The contact became aware of NHTSA Campaign Numbers: 21V739000 (Fuel System, Gasoline) and 21V064000 (Fuel System, Gasoline); however, the VIN was not included in the recalls. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The manufacturer referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline to report the failure. The failure mileage was 60,452.
Air bags did not deploy after significant frontal damage. No warning that the air bag sensor was bad.
Vehicle brake module system failed after being replaced one week ago. All of my systems system lights are coming on on my dashboard. I cannot drive past 62 mph. This is the second time that this has happened under a month after vehicle being serviced at a GM dealership.
GM has a known issue with engine lifters on this model engine that fail around 60,000 miles. Customer service managers even stated so themselves and GM has a TSB related to this. Repair bill is $5K-$6K if it doesn’t bend the cam shaft and upwards of $10K if cam is bent. This is a huge safety issue because vehicle fails while in motion, shakes violently, and numerous safety features the driver relies on turn off.
I have taken this vehicle two times to the dealers that sell Chevrolet. The first time it was there for 5 hours and nothing was done and the second time the service agent said there was no recall on this vehicle when obviously there is one.
My vehicle performed an update without my knowledge. When I got back into my vehicle after a quick stop the infotainment system said "Update Failed - Return to Dealer". I did so and was informed that a reprogram was attempted but failed so the entire system needed replaced. There is active recalls I'm told on newer model vehicles with the same issue but mine is not included. So, after the OTA update I didn't ask to take place I'm stuck paying $1,300 for a new infotainment system. I called GM who basically told me without there being a recall there was nothing they could do.
