The contact stated that upon taking the vehicle to the dealer for the recall repair of NHTSA Campaign Number: 06V432000 (Power Train), the dealer informed the contact that the equipment and parts to do the recall repair were not available after the vehicle had remained at the dealer for two days. The contact stated that several other dealers were contacted and provided the same information. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 94,791.
TAKATA RECALL IN THE CARS MILAGE INDICATOR I RECEIVED A MESSAGE READING GAS CAP ALONG WITH A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT THEN I NOTICED MY FUEL RANGE AND GAUGE WOULD READ 200 MILES TO EMPTY AT 1/2 A TANK OF FUEL TO 23 MILES TO EMPTY WITH THE GAUGE BEING IN THE RED, WHEN I WAS DRIVING TO TOWN... WE JUST HAD BOTH FUEL PUMPS REPLACED BECAUSE THE UPPER FUEL PUMP WOULDN'T PUMP THE FUEL OVER TO THE LOWER FUEL TANK THIS CAR ONLY HAS 100,000 MILES ON IT AND WE'VE ALREADY DROPPED $900.00 TO HAVE THIS PROBLEM FIXED ONLY TO HAVE ANOTHER PROBLEM OCCUR... SECONDARY PUMP NEEDS TO BE REPLACED: THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON. THE VEHICLE HAS UNDER 55,000 MILES AND FAILED EMISSIONS TEST WITH THE FOLLOWING CODES: P0457, P0455, P0456. AN EVAP SYSTEM SMOKE TEST WAS PERFORMED AND FOUND A LEAKING SECONDARY UNIT. NEEDS SECONDARY PUMP REPLACED.

THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE GAUGES ON THE VEHICLE MOVED UP AND DOWN INDEPENDENTLY WHILE THE ENGINE SEIZED. THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM ALSO OPERATED INDEPENDENTLY BY DISPLAYING INACCURATE READINGS. THE CONTACT ASSOCIATED THE FAILURE WITH NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 06V432000 (POWER TRAIN). THE MANUFACTURER AND GINN CHRYSLER JEEP DODGE (5190 US-278, COVINGTON, GA 30014, 770-679-2202) WERE NOTIFIED AND STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN A RECALL. DRIVING HOME FROM WORK A GOOD SAMARITAN PULLED ME OVER AND ADVISED ME THE GAS WAS POURING OUT OF MY CAR, CALLED FIRE DEPARTMENT AND THEY PLUGGED LEAK AND I HAD IT TOWED TO DEALERSHIP. THEY ADVISED ME THERE WAS QUESTIONABLE DAMAGE TO THE TANK AND IT DIDN'T LOOK LIKE ANYTHING WAS RUN OVER OR HIT BUT CORNER OF GAS TANK WAS SEVERELY DAMAGED, LOST 3/4 TANK OF GAS ON ROAD. THE DEALERSHIP LOOKED OVER MY VEHICLE, I CALLED INSURANCE COMPANY TO REPORT INCIDENT. THEY DETERMINED THAT THE GAS TANK WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED AS WELL AS THE FUEL NECK FILLER VALVE AND BOTH FUEL PUMPS. I HAD ALL THE SUGGESTED WORK DONE AND TWO WEEKS AFTER HAVING MY CAR BACK I WOULD NOTICE THE TANK GO FROM 1/2 TANK TO EMPTY QUICKLY, NO LEAKING GAS SO I WOULD TRY TO PUT IN GAS AND ONLY ABLE TO PUT IN 2-3 GALLONS AT A TIME, IT THEN SHOOTS FROM EMPTY TO HALF TANK BACK DOWN, BACK UP AND DOWN. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AGAIN AND THEY DETERMINED INSTEAD OF THE USED GAS TANK A BRAND NEW ONE WAS NECESSARY. GOT MY CAR BACK ON 12/30 IMMEDIATELY WENT TO PUT GAS IN SINCE THEY HAD TO DRAIN TANK AND ONCE AGAIN THE SAME PROBLEM HAPPENED. I CANNOT PUT MORE THAN 2-3 GALLONS IN GAUGE FLUCTUATES BETWEEN 1/2 TANK TO EMPTY, RAN OUT OF GAS ON HIGHWAY CAR STALLED IN LEFT LANE LUCKILY I WAS ABLE TO GET OVER GET IT TOWED WHERE THEY TOLD ME IT HAD GAS IN IT, THEY PUT IN 2 GALLONS AT THE DEALERSHIP AND IT STARTED RIGHT UP. THIS IS A SAFETY CONCERN AND AM SCARED TO DRIVE AROUND THREE KIDS IN CAR IF IT IS GOING TO STALL. THERE SEEMS TO BE A PROBLEM WITH FUEL SYSTEM. CONTACTED CHRYSLER AND THEY ASSIGNED ME A CASE MANAGER AND CASE NUMBER AND PROMISED TO WORK WITH DEALERSHIP TO GET CAR FIXED. I HAVE ALREADY BEEN WITHOUT MY CAR 4 TIMES AND A TOTAL OF 5 WEEK SINCE I BOUGHT CAR ON 9/07/16. I WOULD LOVE A SOLUTION AS I LOVE THE CAR. *TR

THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO ADD FUEL TO THE VEHICLE, BUT THE TANK WAS FULL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE FUEL LINES AND FUEL TANK NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE OCCURRED APPROXIMATELY A MONTH AND A HALF. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 128,000.
THIS VEHICLE HAD A RECALL FROM CHRYSLER. I WAS GIVEN A CLAIM #[XXX] AND WHEN I SPOKE TO CHRYSLER I WAS TOLD THAT OUR VIN # WAS NOT COVERED DUE TO THE FACT THAT THEY THEMSELVES HAD ENDED THE RECALLED VEHICLES 2 WEEKS BEFORE OURS WAS PRODUCED. THAT IS ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS AS OUR VEHICLE SUFFERED THE EXACT SAME PROBLEMS AS THEY ALL DID 2 WEEKS EARLIER!!! I AM HAVING A PROBLEM WITH THE FUEL GAUGE. THE FUEL GAUGE WILL READ FULL AND WHEN THE FUEL GAUGE GETS TO HALF A TANK THE GAUGE DROPS TO EMPTY. ALSO WHILE FILLING THE TANK THE NOZZLE FROM THE GAS PUMPS WILL ALWAYS CUT OFF, IT WILL PUMP A FEW DOLLARS AND THEN STOP AND YOU HAVE TO PUMP THE FUEL IN VERY SLOW. I HAVE CHANGED THE FUEL PUMP IN THE TANK THREE TIMES AND THE GAS TANK TWICE. NOTHING WORKS THIS HAS BEEN A PROBLEM NOW FOR ABOUT TWO YEARS. I HAVE BEEN STRANDED ON THE ROAD DUE TO THE FUEL GAUGE DROPPING TO EMPTY AND IT IS VERY SCARY.
ABOUT 3 WEEKS I LET MY COUSIN USE CAR. SHE MADE IT TO INDY TWICE FROM FORT WAYNE, AND ONCE BACK HOME BEFORE I CAME TO GET CAR SHE STATED SHE HAD SET ALARM OFF AND THEN CAR WOULDN'T START. I HAD IT TOWED AND THEY COULDN'T FIND THE PROBLEM COMPLETELY BUT THOUGHT FUEL PUMP. CAR TURNS OVER PERFECT JUST WON'T FIRE. SO FUEL PUMP REPLACE AND ABOUT WEEK AND A HALF LATER IT'S STARTS TO NOT START UP ON FIRST IGNITE. SOMETIMES IT TAKES ME TWO-THREE TRIES THEN IT STARTS. ALSO SOMETHING WEIRD 2 TIMES WHILE PUMPING GAS AND LEAVING CAR ON, THE CAR SHUTS OFF AS SOON AS GAS STARTS FILLING. TODAY FOR THE 3RD TIME I STARTED PUMPING GAS AND MY CAR SHUT OFF BUT THIS TIME WOULDN'T START. IT ONCE AGAIN TURNS OVER BUT WON'T START. I HAD IT TOWED AGAIN!!!! ANY SUGGESTIONS? SO ONCE AGAIN THIS CAR IS HAVING ISSUES WITH THE FUEL PUMP SYSTEM. I HAVE A 2006 CHRYSLER PACIFICA (86616) AND ONE DAY WHEN DRIVING MY CAR JUST STALLED OUT AND WOULD NOT START FOR QUITE SOME TIME. I TOOK IT TO A CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP HERE IN BAYTOWN AND WAS TOLD THAT THE PLASTIC EVAP LINE MAY HAVE BROKEN DUE TO A DESIGN FLAW OF THE LINE BEING NOT ONLY TOO SHORT BUT ALSO MADE OF A HARDEN PLASTIC THAT IS SUPPOSED TO BE RUBBER INSTEAD. I WAS LUCK ENOUGH TO BE BY MYSELF BUT IF I HAD MY GOD DAUGHTER IN THE CAR WITH ME IT WOULD HAVE BEEN WORST OR I COULD HAVE BEEN SERIOUSLY INJURED. NOW CHRYSLER WANTS CLOSE TO $800 TO FIX THE ISSUE WHEN IN FACT THIS WAS A DESIGN FLAW TO BEGIN WITH FROM THE START.
