The tipm fuel pump relay is faulty causing the car to start intermittently. It also stalled on a main road without any warning with my kids in the car. Luckily I was able to put the flashers on and drift to the side and others were able to get around without any accident. However they came close to hitting myself and others. I have spent over $1,000 at this point fixing items that didn't need to be fixed only to finally find out online that others have this issue and its a known issue for Dodge, Jeep, and Chrysler Town and Country but for some reason the recall is only for Dodge and Jeep.
The vehicle will crank but not start. This happened intermittently at first but is now a consistent issue. Through research I discovered that this is a common TIPM issue on this year Chrysler/Jeep/Dodge vehicles. A recall was placed for Jeep and Dodge however there has been no recall on Chrysler models with the same issue. This issue can cause the vehicle to not start as well as stall while driving which could potentially cause an accident. This recall needs to be in effect for Chrysler model vehicles with the sand issue as the Jeep and Dodge models
Fuel Pump Relay- the TPIM
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE ATTEMPTING TO START THE VEHICLE, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO START-UP. THE CONTACT CHARGED THE BATTERY FULLY HOWEVER, THE ENGINE STILL FAILED TO TURN OVER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS INTERMITTENT. THERE WAS NO WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. NAPLES DODGE CHRYSLER JEEP RAM (6381 AIRPORT-PULLING RD, NAPLES, FL 34109, (239) 296-2404) WAS CONTACTED AND MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO BE DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 84,000.
VEHICLE IS EXPERIENCING INTERMITTENT DEAD BATTERIES AND NO START ISSUES. HAD VEHICLE SHUT DOWN WHILE DRIVING AS WELL TO FUEL PUMP SHUTTING DOWN. AFTER DIAGNOSTIC FOUND THE FUEL PUMP WAS STAYING ON AFTER KEY WAS REMOVED KILLING THE BATTERY. THIS IS AN ISSUE WITH A BAD TIPM MODULE THAT HAD BEEN UNDER A RECALL ON THE PREVIOUS YEARS TOWN AND COUNTRY. CALLED THE DEALER TODAY ANS WAS TOLD ON THERE WERE NO OPEN RECALLS ON MY SPECIFIC VIN.
FUEL PUMP RELAY IS STUCK RESULTING IN CONTINUOUS PUMP RUNNING CAUSING DEAD BATTERY OVERNIGHT AND VEHICLE NOT STARTING.
THE VEHICLES BATTERY DIED DUE TO A FAULTY TIPM. AFTER A JUMP START IT WILL RUN BUT ONCE THE VEHICLE IS OFF AND SITTING FOR LESS THAN AN HOUR THE VEHLICE WILL TURN OVER, DIE, THEN WILL CRANK AND NOT TURN OVER FOR A WHILE. THIS IS THE FIRST TIME THIS IS HAPPENING WITH THIS VEHICLE IT HAS A LITTLE LET THAN 70,000 MILES.
VEHICLE WON'T START. ENGINE TURNS OVER BUT WON'T RUN. SITTING IN MY DRIVEWAY.
THE TIPM ON MY VEHICLE HAS GONE BAD AND THE FUEL PUMP IS NOT WORKING PROPERLY, WONT START, ETC. ALL THE TIPM PROBLEMS YOU READ ABOUT IN THE OTHER COMPLAINTS. THIS VEHICLE HAS A 3.6L ENGINE, THE SAME ENGINE THAT THE 2011 DODGE DURANGO HAS THAT HAS HAD A RECALL TO REPAIR THIS TIPM PROBLEM. IT MAKES NO SENSE THAT THIS 2011 CHRYLSER TOWN AND COUNTRY WOULD NOT HAVE A RECALL AS WELL. EXPLAIN THAT TO ME!
FAULTY FUEL PUMP RELAY THE VEHICLE WILL SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING AND IT WILL STAY ON WHILE KEY IS OFF AND KILL BATTERY
FUEL PUMP RELAY GAVE OUT AND UNLIKE THE DURANGO AND GRAND CHEROKEE IT'S NOT ON RECALL IT'S ALSO 1000 DOLLAR PART THAT THEY KNOW IS BAD, IT STOPPED WORKING FOR ME ON THE HIGHWAY HAD TO COAST TO THE ICY SHOULDER AND SLIPPED INTO THE DITCH ALMOST FLIPPED BECAUSE SINCE THE ENGINE WASN'T ON NEITHER WAS THE POWER STEERING
VAN WAS HAVING A HARD TIME STARTING. THEN ONE NIGHT I HEARD A HUMMING NOISE WHEN THE CAR WAS OFF. DIDN'T KNOW WHAT IT WAS. THE NEXT MORNING BATTERY WAS AT 0%. CHARGED THE BATTERY AND GOT IT TO START. WHEN STARTING WE HAVE TO TURN IT TO THE ON THEN OFF POSITION A FEW TIMES BEFORE I COULD GET IT TO WORK. WHEN I HEAR THE HUMMING OF THE FUEL PUMP THAT IS RUNNING WHEN THE KEY IS OUT, I CAN PUT KEY IN AND TURN IT TO ON AND OFF A FEW TIMES AND GET IT TO STOP. MY SHOP SAID THE TIPM NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. IT IS RECALLED ON OTHER VEHICLES BUT NOT OUR VAN. IT WAS SUPPOSED TO COST $710 TO FIX BUT THE PART NUMBER HAS NOW BEEN SUPERSEDED WITH THE FIXED AND THE NOW WILL COST $950 TO FIX. WE SHOULD BE PAYING FOR REPAIRS FOR THIS WHEN THE SAME PART HAS BEEN RECALLED FOR OTHER VEHICLES! I'M WORRIED THAT THE FUEL PUMP RELAY WILL END UP WEARING OUT THE FUEL PUMP TOO WHICH WOULD COST ANOTHER $600 TO REPAIR. I HOPE THE COMPANY WILL DO THE RIGHT THING AND FIX THIS BROKEN PART FOR ALL VEHICLES THEY USED IT IN!
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY. WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED AND THE ETC WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO RESTART THE VEHICLE APPROXIMATELY FOUR TIMES, BUT WAS UNSUCCESSFUL. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED BY AAA TO AUTONATION CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM HOUSTON (1515 SOUTH LOOP WEST, HOUSTON, TX 77054, 713-489-7825) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE FUEL PUMP RELAY FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 217,000.
FUEL PUMP WILL NOT SHUT OFF, RUNS CONTINUALLY UNTIL BATTERY DIES. THE VEHICLE IS PARKED AND TURNED OFF HOWEVER THE FUEL PUMP CONTINUES TO RUN.
FAULTY FUEL PUMP WIRING SYSTEM THE TIPM IS NO LONGER ALLOWING THE ENGINE TO REALIZE THEIR IS FUEL. IT IS NOT THE FUEL PUMP. THERE ARE SO MANY WEBSITES THAT OFFER THE SERVICE TO RE-MANUFACTURER THE TIPM BECAUSE OF THE ONGOING ISSUES. WHY IS THEIR NOT A RECALL?
MY 2011 CHRYSLER TOWN & COUNTRY QUIT WHILE DRIVING ON HENSIL RD PORT ORANGE, FL. LOST POWER STEERING AND POWER BRAKES. WAS ABLE TO PULL TO SIDE OF ROAD. FOUND PROBLEM IS FUEL PUMP RELAY IN THE TIPM IS INSUFFICIENT TO CARRY THE LOAD. A RECALL WAS ISSUED FOR 2011 DURANGO AND JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE, BUT NOT 2011 DODGE CARAVAN OR CHRYSLER T&C FOR THE SAME PROBLEM.
SUMMARY: I BELIEVE THAT THE TIPM FUEL PUMP RELAY IS CAUSING THE ISSUES. IT HAS LEFT THE FUEL PUMP ON WHEN THE ENGINE AND POWER WAS OFF WITH THE KEY OUT OF THE VEHICLE. IT HAS MANY TIME CRANKED WITHOUT STARTING, WHILE STATIONARY WITH THE ENGINE COLD AND ALSO WHILE HOT. THIS MORNING IT SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING MY KIDS TO SCHOOL IT SHUTOFF THE ENGINE WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY FOLLOWED BY CRANKING IT WAS RESTARTED. IT FAILED TO START AFTER COMING OUT OF THE SCHOOL. I HAVE SEEN THAT CRYSLER RECALLED THIS PART ON DURANGOS WITH THE SAME ENGINE AND MODEL YEAR.
THE FUEL PUMP WOULD KEEP ON RUNNING AFTER KEY WAS TAKEN OUT OF IGNITION AND EVENTUALLY CAR WOULD NOT START OR WOULD DIE OUT IN THE MIDDLE OF DRIVING.
A FEW MONTHS BACK, MY BATTERY DIED (IT WAS FAIRLY NEW). AFTER REPLACING THE BATTERY WITH A NEW ONE, I NOTICED THERE WAS A CONSTANT SOUND COMING FROM THE BACK OF THE CAR EVEN WHEN THE CAR WAS TURNED OFF - TURNED OUT TO BE THE FUEL PUMP CONTINUALLY PUMPING. AFTER DISCONNECTING AND RECONNECTING THE BATTERY A FEW TIMES, THE CONSTANTLY RUNNING FUEL PUMP ISSUE WENT AWAY. FAST FORWARD A FEW MONTHS AND MY CAR STARTS HAVING TROUBLE STARTING. IT RANDOMLY WON'T TURN OVER - SOMETIMES TAKING 10-20 TRIES BEFORE IT STARTS. EVENTUALLY IT WON'T TURN OVER AT ALL. AFTER LOOKING ONLINE AND FINDING A [XXX] OF OTHER PEOPLE WITH THE SAME ISSUE, I DISCOVERED THE TIPM "FAULTY FUEL PUMP RELAY" ISSUE WITH THE CHRYSLER VEHICLES - INCLUDING MINE. I RIGGED A CABLE TO TEMPORARILY BYPASS THE FUEL PUMP RELAY, AND NOW IT STARTS EVERY TIME JUST FINE. FOR THE LONG TERM SOLUTION I WILL NOW NEED TO PAY TO HAVE THE TIPM MODULE REPLACED. THIS IS THE LAST CHRYSLER BRAND CAR I WILL BUY - IT'S ONE THING TO HAVE A PROBLEM WITH YOUR VEHICLE YOU BUILD (ALL CAR COMPANIES HAVE ISSUES), IT'S ANOTHER THING TO KNOW THAT THERE IS AN ISSUE AND GIVE A BIG [XXX] YOU TO YOUR CONSUMERS BY REFUSING TO ADDRESS THE KNOWN ISSUE. THIS COMPLAINT IS TO ADDRESS A PROBLEM WITH THE FUEL PUMP RELAY LOCATED WITHIN THE TOTAL INTEGRATED POWER MODULE (TIPM). OUR 2011 TOWN AND COUNTRY HAS HAD NUMEROUS ISSUES WITH NOT STARTING BECAUSE THE FUEL PUMP ISN'T GETTING POWER. WE HAVE HAD ISSUES WITH THE VEHICLE SHUTTING OFF DURING OPERATION. NOW THE VEHICLE WILL NOT START AT ALL.
