TAKATA RECALL : I RECEIVED A NOTICE IN THE MAIL THAT I HAVE ONE OF THE TAKATA AIRBAGS TO BE REPLACED. I CONTACTED MY DEALER AND THERE IS CURRENTLY NO REMEDY AND/OR NO PARTS FOR THIS FOR A LONG TIME. I KEEP CALLING BACK. IS THERE ANY WAY TO GET THE PARTS TO REPLACE THE AIRBAG?
"TAKATA RECALL" I RECEIVED A LETTER FROM FORD MOTOR COMPANY IN JUL 2016 REGARDING THETAKATA AIR IN MY VEHICLE WAS DEFECTIVE. SINCE THAT DATE, I HAVE TRIED MANY TIMES TO FIND OUT WHEN THE REPLACEMENT AIR BAGS WILL BE AVAILABLE AT MY FORD DEALER. IT IS NOW DEC 2017 & FORD DEALER KEEPS TELLING ME THEY HAVE NOT RECEIVED REPLACEMENT AIR BAGS. WHEN WILL THIS BE RESOLVED? MEANTIME I AM RIDING IN AN UNSAFE VEHICLE.
TAKATA RECALL--I RECEIVED A LETTER FROM FORD ,DATED JULY 2016 ADVISING THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE AIRBAG IN MY 2010 EDGE. HAVEN'T HEARD FROM FORD YET. I HAVE CALLED SEVERAL TIMES TO MY DEALER AND THE SAY THEY HAVEN'T HEARD ANYTHING. ADVISED TO CALL FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE. I WAS ADVISED THEY DIDN'T KNOW WHEN I WOULD GET AN AIR BAG . THERE WERE SEVERAL MILLION VEHICLES WITH THIS SAME RECALL AND TAKATA HADN'T STARTED MAKING THEM. ON 10/25/2017 I RECEIVED A NOTICE WHERE TAKATA WAS GOING TO FILE BANKRUPTCY IN JAPAN TO AFFECT ONLY DEBTORS IN U.S. AND MEXICO. THERE WAS GOING TO BE A CLASS ACTION SUIT FILED IN U.S. FEDERAL COURT AND I NEEDED TO REGISTER MY COMPLAINT OR I WOULD BE LEFT OUT OF EVERYTHING. FORD NEEDS TO BE MADE TO FIX THESE VEHICLES OR BUY THEM BAC AT A FAIR PRICE WHEN SOLD DEFECTIVE.
TAKATA RECALL. PLEASE ADVISE THE TIME LIMIT FOR FORD TO REPLACE THESE AIRBAGS. NOTIFIED JULY 2016, HAVE CALLED NUMEROUS TIMES, JUST ADVISED THEY STILL DO NOT HAVE A SOLUTION EXCEPT TO NOT CARRY PASSENGERS IN FRONT SEAT. WONDER WHY DODGE IS REPLACING THEM DAILY, BUT FORD STILL DOESN'T EVEN HAVE A SOLUTION.
TAKATA RECALL
TAKATA RECALL. I RECEIVED A RECALL IN THE MAIL IN JUNE 2016 AND TOOK MY CAR TO SOUTHWEST FORD TO REPAIR. THEY SAID THAT THEY DID NOT HAVE THE PARTS AND WOULD CONTACT ME WHEN THEY CAME IN, NEVER HEARD FROM THEM. I CALLED BACK IN EARLY 2017 AND THEY SAID TAKATA WAS UNDER BANKRUPTCY AND DON'T KNOW IF THEY WILL GET ANY PARTS. MY CAR IS STILL NOT REPAIRED AND COULD BE A DANGER TO ME OR MY KIDS. I RECEIVED A LETTER FROM FORD JULY 2016.
TAKATA RECALL - THERE'S A RECALL ON THE PASSENGER AIRBAG FOR MY FORD EDGE. THE CAR IS SAFE TO DRIVE, BUT IT'S NOT SAFE TO USE THE PASSENGER SEAT. IT'S BEEN 2 YEARS AND THERE IS STILL REPLACEMENT PARTS OR REPAIRS AVAILABLE. I DON'T HAVE USE OF MY PASSENGER SEAT AND IT AFFECTS THE RESALE VALUE.

TAKATA RECALL FORD INFORMED ME OF RECALL JULY 2016 HOW LONG CAN FORD MAKE ME WAIT FOR A REPLACEMENT AIRBAG ? THANK YOU
TAKATA RECALL THE FIRST RECALL NOTICE FROM FORD MOTOR COMPANY CAME TO ME IN JULY 2016. SAFETY RECALL NOTICE 16S26 / NHTSA RECALL 16V-384. THE LETTER PROMISED FORD MOTOR COMPANY (FMC) WOULD SEND A LETTER WHEN REPLACEMENT PARTS FOR THE DEFECTIVE AIRBAG WOULD BE AVAILABLE TO FIX THE PROBLEM AT MY LOCAL DEALER. SINCE THAT TIME I HAVE RECEIVED 4 MORE SAFETY RECALL LETTERS, DATED DECEMBER 2017, JUNE 2018, OCTOBER 2018 ALL WITH THE SAME RECALL NUMBERS. THE MOST RECENT LETTER OF MARCH 2019 IS FOR THE SAME THING, BUT WITH NEW NUMBERS, SAFETY RECALL NOTICE 19S01 / NHSTA RECAL 19V-001. UPON GETTING THE OCTOBER NOTICE, I CALLED MY LOCAL FORD DEALER, AND THEIR REPRESENTATIVE SAID HE WOULD ORDER THE PARTS AND CALL ME WHEN THEY ARRIVE TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT FOR REPLACEMENT. THEN WITH THE MARCH 2019 LETTER, I CALLED THE DEALER AGAIN. THIS TIME THE REPRESENTATIVE INFORMED ME THAT HE WOULD HAVE TO ORDER THE PARTS, AND IT WOULD BE UP TO 5 WEEKS BEFORE THE NEW AIRBAG COMES IN. HE ALSO SAID THAT FMC IS SENDING THEM ONLY 2 PER WEEK. NOTE: THE ANSWER TO WHEN DID THIS HAPPEN IS THE DATE OF THE FIRST NOTICE I GOT FROM FMC. AT TWO AND ONE HALF YEARS, I BELIEVE FMC HAS HAD MORE THAN ENOUGH TIME TO SOURCE SAFE AIRBAG TO REPLACE THESE DEFECTIVE ONES. PLEASE EXERT ALL THE INFLUENCE YOU HAVE AVAILABLE TO YOUR AGENCY TO EXPEDITE THE REPLACEMENT OF THESE AIRBAGS. THANK YOU.
THE OTHER DAY I HAD LEFT MY HOUSE IN MY 2010 FORD EDGE LIMITED AWD TO PICK UP MY DAUGHTER. AS I APPROACHED THE FIRST STOP SIGN IN MY NEIGHBORHOOD I APPLIED THE BRAKES. THE BRAKE PEDAL HIT A STOPPING POINT AND WOULDN'T DEPRESS ANY FURTHER, HOWEVER MY CAR KEPT GOING AND DIDN'T STOP FOR ANOTHER 15-20 FEET. I WAS STEPPING ON THE BRAKES AS HARD AS I COULD. I WAS ONLY TRAVELING 15-20 MPH AT THE TIME. AT SUCH LOW SPEEDS TAKING THAT LONG TO STOP IS UNACCEPTABLE. THANKFULLY NONE OF THE NEIGHBORHOOD CHILDREN WERE OUT PLAYING OR THIS SITUATION COULD'VE ENDED HORRIBLY. THI ISSUE OCCURRED SUDDENLY AND NOT GRADUALLY. MY DEALER SAYS IT'S THE BRAKE BOOSTER. SEEING HOW DANGEROUS THIS SITUATION IS AND HOW SUDDENLY IT OCCURRED I STARTED TO RESEARCH THE ISSUE. I FOUND CSP13N02 AND MY CAR FITS ALL THE CRITERIA (BUILD DATE, OAKVILLE, ONTARIO FACTORY...ETC.). I CONTACTED MY DEALER AND THEY SAID MY CAR WASN'T SHOWING UP ON THEIR SYSTEM AS COVERED AND TO TRY TO CONTACT FORD. THEN I CONTACTED FORD REGARDING THE ISSUE AND THEY TOLD ME TO CONTACT MY DEALER WITH A CASE NUMBER. ARE YOU KIDDING MY RIGHT NOW???? THIS IS ABSURD. I WILL PAY THE $700 TO FIX THE PROBLEM SIMPLY BECAUSE OF THE VALUE I HAVE FOR MY FAMILY'S SAFETY AND ON THE SAFETY OF MY NEIGHBORS. BUT...THIS IS A FORD ISSUE AND THAT IS CLEAR BY THE WARRANTY EXTENSION THEY PROVIDE SPECIFICALLY FOR THE BREAK BOOSTER PART FAILURE... FORD IS REFUSING TO ACKNOWLEDGE OR FIX THE PROBLEM. THE LADY I SPOKE TO HAVE ME AN ADDRESS TO A P.O. BOX AND TOLD ME I CAN WRITE A LETTER TO THE MANAGER IN DETROIT NAMED PHIL PERRY...REALLY??? MY FAMILY AND I HAVE BEEN DEDICATED FORD OWNERS FOR 4 DECADES, BUT SADLY THAT WILL BE CHANGING VERY SOON. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE.
TAKATA RECALL. MY WIFE AND I PURCHASED THE 2010 FORD EDGE FROM GARY YOEMANS FORD IN DAYTONA BEACH ON JUNE 31, 2016. AT THE TIME OF PURCHASE THE DEALERSHIP FAILED TO MENTION THERE WAS AN OPEN SAFETY RECALL FOR THE AIRBAG. WE BOUGHT THIS PARTICULAR VEHICLE BECAUSE THEY TOLD US IT WAS SAFE FOR OUR 2 MONTH OLD BABY. AS OF NOW, THEY AREN'T ABLE TO TELL US WHEN WE WILL BE ABLE TO GET OUR VEHICLE FIXED AND WE HAVE TO DRIVE IN AN UNSAFE CAR WITH OUR BABY BECAUSE OF THEIR NEGLIGENCE. WE WOULD HAVE NEVER PURCHASED IT IF WE WOULD HAVE BEEN INFORMED OF THE RECALL.

WHILE DRIVING ON INTERSTATE AND TRYING TO EXIT, THE BRAKES QUIT WORKING WITH NO NOTICE. HAD TO PUMP THEM TO GET THEM TO RESPOND. WHEN WE FINALLY GET HOME, WE PLAYED WITH THE BRAKING SYSTEM IN THE DRIVE WAY. THE BRAKE PEDAL STARTED OUT BEING DIFFICULT TO PRESS THEN ENDED UP MAKING A HISSING NOISE. HAD TO UTILIZE EMERGENCY BRAKE TO GET VEHICLE TO STOP QUICKLY OTHERWISE IT WOULD TAKE 50-100 FEET TO STOP. ONCE WE TOOK IT TO MOSES FORD IN ST ALBANS, WV, WE LEARNED THE POWER BOOSTER FAILED. AFTER RESEARCHING THE ISSUE, IT APPEARS FORD RECALLED 2011 MODELS BUT NOT 2010
OUR 2010 FORD EDGE IN THE PAST FEW YEARS HAS STALLED AFTER MAKING A SLOW TURN ON 4 SEPARATE OCCASIONS. DURING THE FIRST 3 OCCURANCES THE WE COULD THE CAR IMMEDIATELY. THE LAST OCCURANCE WAS LAST FRIDAY AFTER COMING OUT OF A SLOW TURN THE CAR LOST ALL FUNCTIONALITY AND I WAS ABLE TO ROLL TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD WHERE IT WOULD NOT START AGAIN AND IT HAD TO BE TOWED. WHEN IT GOT TO THE AUTO SHOP IT STARTED AGAIN AND THE MECHANIC COULD NOT RECREATE THE PROBLEM OR FIND A PROBLEM WITH THEIR COMPUTER DIAGNOSTICS. NEEDLESS TO SAY THE UNEXPLAINED ENGINE FAILURE WAS NOT FIXED. I AM AFRAID TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE ANYMORE BECAUSE OF THE POTENTIAL OF A SERIOUS ACCIDENT RESULTING IN INJURY OR DEATH.
THE CAR WOULDN'T START. SEEMED TO BE A FUEL ISSUE. HAD IT TOWED TO THE DEALER. THE SERVICE PEOPLE TELL US THAT THE FUEL PUMP HAS APPARENTLY BEEN FAILING INTERMITTENTLY AND OVERHEATED - MELTING THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTOR. THE FUEL PUMP AND ELECTRICAL CONNECTOR AND LABOR WILL COST $1,078. IT SEEMS TO US THAT THIS IS A DANGEROUS SITUATION AND, FROM WHAT WE HEAR FROM MECHANICS, IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH THE FORD EDGE. HOWEVER, ONLY THE 2014 MODEL YEAR HAS BEEN RECALLED FOR FUEL PUMP ISSUES...

THE MANUFACTURER WAS ALSO CONTACTED AND CONFIRMED THAT THE PARTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. VIN TOOL CONFIRMS PARTS NOT AVAILABLE.
THE BRAKE PEDAL BECAME HARD TO BRAKE. THE CAR WOUND STOP EVENTUALLY. WHEN I STOP TO TEST THE BRAKE THERE WERE HISSING SOUNDS WHEN BRAKE PEDAL NEAR THE FLOOR. HAPPEN TO SIMILAR MODEL FORD MODEL WITHOUT RECALL. TH'S IS A VERY DAGEROUS SITUATION WHEN TRAVEL ON THE HIGHWAY AND FORD KNEW ABOUT THAT: CUSTOMER SATISFACTION PROGRAM 13N02 CERTAIN 2010-2013 MODEL YEAR EDGE AND MKX VEHICLES EXTENDED WARRANTY COVERAGE ON BRAKE BOOSTER.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD EDGE. WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH, THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED, AND THE CONTACT HEARD AN ABNORMAL NOISE COMING FROM THE PEDAL. IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT HAD TO APPLY FORCE TO THE BRAKE PEDAL IN ORDER TO GET THE VEHICLE TO STOP. THE FAILURE RECURRED ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC AND A DEALER WHO CONFIRMED THAT THE BRAKE POWER BOOSTER WAS FAULTY AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V712000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE); HOWEVER, THE PART NEEDED TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 72,000. PARTS DISTRIBUTION DISCONNECT.
MY CAR HAS APPROXIMATELY 90,000 MILES. AFTER A TRIP WE BEGAN TO NOTICE THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS VERY HARD ON THE INITIAL TOUCH, LIKE PUSHING AGAINST A BRICK WALL. VERY FRIGHTENING. BRAKES DID SLOW THE CAR DOWN, BUT NOT AS QUICK OR RESPONSIVE AS WHEN THE PEDAL IS WORKING PROPERLY. WHEN PUSHED VERY HARD, THE PEDAL FINALLY MOVES FORWARD TOWARD THE FLOOR IN A SOMEWHAT NORMAL MANNER, BUT MUSHY. A HISSING SOUND IS ALSO HEARD WHEN APPLYING THE BRAKES. WHEN I TOOK THE CAR TO THE LOCAL DEALER I WAS TOLD THAT FORD HAD JUST RELEASED A NEW EXTENDED WARRANTY AND FREE REPAIR FOR THIS PROBLEM CONCERNING THE BRAKE BOOSTER, A TEAR, AND BEGINNING WITH FORD EDGE'S BUILT IN 2010. WHEN MY VIN WAS CHECKED, I WAS THEN TOLD MY CAR DID NOT FALL WITHIN THE DATES FOR THE PROGRAM. MY CAR WAS MANUFACTURED ON APRIL 27 2010 AND THE PROGRAM BEGINS FOR CARS MANUFACTURED ON MAY 3, 2010. WHEN MY DEALER CALLED FORD HE WAS TOLD THAT NOTHING COULD BE DONE; MY CAR HAD MISSED THE DATE BY 6 DAYS. IF YOU ARE EXPERIENCING THIS SIMILAR PROBLEM, PLEASE REPORT IT SO THAT ENOUGH COMPLAINTS CAN BE RECORDED THAT FORD WILL BE REQUIRED TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT, FOR ALL CARS THAT ARE EXPERIENCING THIS PROBLEM, NOT JUST THOSE MANUFACTURED AFTER SOME RANDOM DATE SELECTED BY FORD. IF THE ISSUE IS WITH THE PART, THEN ALL DEFECTIVE PARTS SHOULD QUALIFY. I HOPE IT DOES NOT TAKE A DEATH BEFORE FORD TAKES CARE OF THIS PROBLEM. I HAVE NO CHOICE BUT TO HAVE THE DEFECTIVE PART REPLACED, OR PARK THE CAR. I HAVE DRIVEN A FORD FOR MOST OF MY LIFE, BUT THINGS LIKE THIS ARE REASONS WHY I AM CONSIDERING CHANGING MANUFACTURERS. BEEN CHANGING THE BREAKS CONSTANTLY AND NOW THE BREAK BOOSTER IS GONE OUT. NO MATTER WHAT BREAKS I'VE PUT ON THEY WOULD ALWAYS BE HARD TO MASH. THEY WERE BLEED AND INSTALLED PROPERLY. I ONLY HAD THE VEHICLE 14 MONTHS.
