Check engine light came on after rough start. Had dealership check 9/28 and coolant is leaking into the 2nd cylinder requiring engine replacement. 71K Miles on car.
Coolant leaking into cylinder. Engine running rough and overheating. Available for inspection upon request. Risk of engine failure/power loss while driving. Confirmed by mechanic. Vehicle has not been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or other. No warning of this issue. Engine light on for purge valve issue at present time. Upon conducting research, this is a well-known issue with this engine (2.0 liter Ecoboost). Thank you for any help you're able to provide as this is a very expensive engine replacement or a practically useless vehicle I still owe $7,000 on.

Check engine light keeps turning on and off, took it to Ford to get diagnosed. There’s a coolant leak into the cylinder 2 causing a misfire and a cracked gasket. Whole engine needs to be replaced to fix this issue, over $6500 worth of repairs that I cannot afford and Ford won’t help with costs. My car is still currently drivable but isn’t safe to drive long distance as it could break at any time while I have myself and 16 month old child in the vehicle. I have a website with other Ford Edge owners having the same engine issue and needing to replace them. This is the link; [XXX] Please hold Ford accountable to announce a recall on the engine. Engine coolant began getting into the cylinders causing white smoke and the car to shake upon start-up. This would result in the engine failing emissions testing and worse. In talking with multiple mechanics I have been told that this is a known issue with this type of engine. The car is just over 5 years old and has 66,000 miles but now needs most of the engine replaced. All regular maintenance on this vehicle was up to date, and it is an engine flaw that is causing this, yet Ford is not willing to assist in the engine replacement.

Engine coolant began getting into the cylinders causing the car to shake upon start-up. Trusted mechanics have told me this is a known issue with this type of engine. They are saying the engine needs to be replaced at a cost upwards of $8,000 All regular maintenance on this vehicle is up to date, and it is an engine flaw that is causing this. Ford needs to be responsible for engine replacement. There are multiple Ford Edge owners with the same complaint.
Coolant leaks in to the motor totally ruining the motor, overheating and leaving people on the side of the road. In some cases catching on fire. There has been lemon cases filed and class action lawsuits. Families are left without a vehicle and ruined credit due to not being able to replace motors and other parts needed out of pocket. Ford needs to be held reliable!

Check engine light has been on and white smoke coming from exhaust and engine Been in for recall repairs several times. Steering wheel feels unstable when driving Suspension is unreliable. This is a very dangerous vehicle to be driving and needs to be recalled for these Known issues.
We were in the process of taking our vehicle in to be serviced and noticed that our engine light appeared. We were informed by the (Ford) dealer that a coolant leak occurred and our engine will need to be replaced. I am concerned because we typically follow the maintenance schedule. We are also concerned because we were informed that our extended warranty expired 4,000 miles prior. We opened case #CAS-44960379-N7Q8D9 with the Ford Motor Company to see if there were any open recalls on the issue. There were none. Further research identified an existing class-action lawsuit regarding our problem. We are taking steps to see if our dealer will honor our extended warranty anyway, but there is a chance they may not and may incur thousands of dollars to replace the engine. In doing so, we have no assurance that the problem may return.

The contact called Bert Ogden Ford(13752 Lupine Rd, Lyford, TX 78569) where she was informed that a callback would be received however had not heard back. The contact also stated that while the vehicle was idle in a parking lot, the temperature increased and the engine was shut off. After the engine had cooled, the contact attempted to restart the vehicle but the vehicle failed to start. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the engine failed due to a gasket leak. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and they referred her to a different dealer. The vehicle was driven to another dealer where they confirmed the engine failure diagnosis and informed that the VIN was not included in any recalls. The vehicle had yet to be repaired and remained in the dealer's possession. The failure mileage was approximately 65,000.

While driving our engine light came on, we took it to our mechanic and they determined that anti-freeze was low and possibly leaking into the engine. It is causing a misfire cylinder 1 and the time before cylinder 3. I read of similar problems with other peoples 2017 Edge. I don't want to have to replace my engine.

The manufacturer was contacted and stated that there was no recall for the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline. The failure mileage was 76,590.
My 2017 Ford Edge is experiencing loss of coolant with no sign of exterior leaks, over heating, the smell of gas in the reservoir, loss of power and rough idling as well. After plenty of research online and seeing the tsbs from the manufacturer this is definitely a problem. This vehicle is my only form of transportation, being that it has been a problem for many customers of ford it is absurd that this has not been recalled and fixed. We don't work hard every day, spend over 25k on a car for it to have a common problem amongst many of the same vehicle and same year, that is obviously a malfunction of the manufacturer.
Coolant leaking into cylinders. Its a known problem with 2015-2018 Ford edge with the 2.0 enging turbo echboost. I have called ford dealer and they said it is on the Technical Service Bulletin but they said no recalls on this. Can you please check into this for me. I have been advised mine is in the early stages but a total engine replacement will be necessary.
I recently bought a 2017 Ford Edge back May 2022, my flex plate broke at 121,000 miles and the manufacturer will not cover it after 120,000 at all. I see this is an issue with many of these Ford edges. They are saying it’s a “customer satisfaction program” not a recall. I don’t understand why not, when it is in fact, a safety issue and the flex plate was a recall before back in 2018 for this same model vehicle. This caused my whole transmission to go due to this issue within an hour of hearing rattling then metal grinding and now it’s in a shop not drivable, I thankfully got home and put my car in park in my driveway and then my car wouldn’t move.
The contact owns a 2017 Ford Edge. The contact stated while the vehicle was parked, the vehicle was started and there was smoke coming from the exhaust. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The contact was occasionally adding coolant to the coolant reservoir prior to the vehicle being taken to an independent mechanic. The vehicle was driven to an independent mechanic and the mechanic informed the contact that there was an internal coolant leak into the engine and that the engine might need to be replaced. The independent mechanic informed the contact that there was an unstated TSB associated with the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The contact spoke with the Ford Customer Service Department and was referred to the NHTSA Hotline to report the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 70,000.
Took the 2017 Ford Edge for regular service, oil change, etc. Noticed the engine light on the dash panel came on. Independent Mechanic informed me that there was a leak of coolant into Cyl #3 of the engine. Recommended that we take the car to a dealership as it has only 49,689 miles on it. Vehicle is running fine at the time, no smoke or loss of coolant. Drove to the dealership the same day and they confirmed that there has been a service bulletin issued on the vehicle's engine due to coolant leaking into the cylinders, causing engine failure. Waiting for dealership to have an open service bay to use to find the exact problem.
The contact owns a 2017 Ford Edge. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle was hesitating and sputtering and was consuming an excessive amount of coolant. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who informed the contact that the vehicle was leaking coolant into the engine block. The contact stated that DTC Code: PL302 was displayed. The contact called the local dealer, but the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline. The failure mileage was approximately 86,000.
The problem started off with the check engine light coming on and overheating. The Edge was swallowing antifreeze at a crazy rate. Then, while driving, the engine overheat warning came on and the power was decreased to zero forcing me to pull over. There was white smoke coming out and it had a terrible smell. I took my car to Pep Boys, and they said the Edge was misfiring on 2 cylinders. Their solution was to change the ignition coils. I got the Edge back and it was no better, and the check engine light came back on again and it would not start. I returned it to Pep Boys again, and this time they said the idle control valve was bad. They replaced it, and upon picking it up the check engine light came right back on again. I again returned it to Pep Boys, and this time they said I had dirty oil (even though I had a synthetic oil change 3 weeks prior), so they flushed out the engine oil and installed new spark plugs/tune-up. I picked the Edge up later that day, and again the check engine light came on. Having had enough of Pep Boys, I finally took my Edge back to my local Ford Dealership for service. They said that the entire engine needed to be replaced due to coolant leaking into 3 cylinders. The dealer said this is a well-documented problem with the 2017 Ford Edge 2.0L EcoBoost engine. I only wish someone pointed this engine issue out when I bought it!
The contact owns a 2017 Ford Edge. The contact stated while driving 20 MPH, he became aware of an abnormal smoke odor. Several unknown warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the engine had failed and needed to be repaired or replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and offered to cover 40 percent of the repair cost. The failure mileage was approximately 61,664.
The Ford dealer confirmed that the engine was cracked and leaking coolant into the cylinders. The engine light was on and the car would shudder and RPM's would drop. Before the dealer confirmed the problem I had the ignition coils replaced and all spark plugs replaced. Issue remained unresolved. At any time, the car could stop and I would be stranded. I found numerous incidents exactly like this online reported by Ford owners. The dealer was very familiar with the problem as was Ford Corp. when I called them. This is a manufacturer problem and they are not taking any responsibility!! There should be a recall on this issue. I have gone to great expense and inconvenience. Angry Ford customer.
Check engine light comes back on after several return trips to repair shop and several thousand dollars in repair cost. Issue is misfires. Plugs and coils have been replaced several times, as well as starter sensor but the problem persists. I understand this is an ongoing issue with countless 2017 Ford Edge owners. Not only is it costly, but the main issue is with safety as the engine may lose power while in transit, risking a hazardous situation for the occupants of the vehicle as well as other vehicles on the road. Just last week I brought the vehicle for yet another cylinder 1 misfire, to a different shop. It cost me $585 to repair. Two days ago the same cylinder started misfiring. Bringing it back to the shop yet again.
The contact owns a 2017 Ford Edge. The contact stated the vehicle failed to start with the check engine warning light illuminated. The contact stated that after starting the vehicle, she saw white smoke coming from the rear of the vehicle with an abnormal burning anti-freeze odor inside of the vehicle. The contact towed the vehicle to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed with needing the engine to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 80,000.
Informed that my 2017 Ford Edge with 122K miles has coolant leaking into cylinder 3 from block and now I have to replace my engine. I have to pay $8500. From my research this problem is a manufacturing defect and the Ford dealership failed to fix this issue.
I bought the car in July 2022 with 62,000 miles for my daughter. The car now has 65,000 miles on it as she only drives back and forth to school. Check engine light came on a month ago then 2 weeks later it overheated with coolant light coming on. It took over a month to get in to the dealership to look at the car. Today they looked at it and told me the coolant had an leaked into the engine due to an engine defect so I would need a new long block engine that will cost about 8,000 to repair. Of course it’s not under warranty and even thigh Ford knows it’s an engine defect and fixed the issue in the replacement they will not cover the charges. They recalled the 1.6 engine but not the 2.0 so now I have to pay for a new engine for a car I just bought for 23,000 a year ago. I was also told even if they do a recall I may not be reimbursed for the cost of the new engine. I am absolutely appalled that a car with 65,000 miles requires a new engine, this is Ford design issue and they are not taking any responsibility. I see there is a class action lawsuit against them for this issue. We are a Ford family owning 3 of them but after this experience I am trading them all in and will never buy a Ford again. All they have to do is the right thing but instead they won’t do it. There is a service bulletin for this exact issue. The dealership is very kind but nothing they can do to help.
The contact owns a 2017 Ford Edge. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed and determined that coolant had leaked into the cylinder and the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact was informed that the failure was referenced in TSB: 22-2229. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and the contact was informed that the vehicle was out of warranty. The failure mileage was approximately 104,000.
I own a 2017 Ford Edge. The contact stated that while driving the check engine warning light illuminated also would miss when started. The vehicle was taken Mac Haik Ford in Pasadena, Texas, where it was diagnosed with coolant intrusion into the cylinder, and the engine needed to be replaced. The engine would cost over $8000.00, luckily I had purchased an extended warranty & it only cost me $100.00. This is a very common problems & Ford should be made to recall for this problem, since the engine cost $8000.00 Ford won`t do it unless made too.
The car overheated due to a known engine defect which allowed the coolant to leak into the engine block. The car now needs a whole new engine. This is what the Ford Dealer gave me. This service bulletin is dated June of 2022 TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN 22-2229 2.0L EcoBoost - Coolant In Cylinders, White Exhaust Smoke And/Or Illuminated MIL This bulletin supersedes 22-2133. Model: Ford 2015-2018 Edge
I bought this car used from Honda Dealership. It had 84,000 mileage on it and since then. The headlights are so dim and I can’t see you have to drive with high beam on every time I go at night I’ve changed almost we like 56 different types light bulb, but still nothing still worst. If I used one for the manufacturer one it’s nothing it’s literally dark outside. I can’t see nothing and another problem is as the ball joint since I bought it I took it from my first oil change when they did the inspection on the car they told me one of my passenger side ball joint was loose but that time I didn’t have money to repair it because it was almost $5000 they said and I was like I don’t have the money. I’m a college student so and recently my car wheel is to the left side more. Something if there’s anything I can do is there anything y’all can do to help cause I don’t want to get in an accident because of that thing.
I was driving when I noticed a light on as I turned the car on as I was driving I saw 4 numbers showing which were the numbers for each tire but the one that was going down at a fast speed was the tire on the driver front tire. I had no blow out ,I had nothing for tire to go flat on me . When I was going to put on the spare that the card had I was not able to do that because I didn't have a jack or anything to change the tire. I had to get a used tire at a tire shop that cost me $60. And noticed that the number is not the same as my 3 other one's
The contact owns a 2017 Ford Edge. The contact stated while cold starting the vehicle, the vehicle idled very rough for several minutes before operating normally. The contact stated that she became aware that the low coolant level and check engine warning lights were illuminated. The contact had taken the vehicle to a local dealer, where it was diagnosed and DTC codes: P0756; P1450; P0136; P0102 were retrieved. The dealer determined that coolant had intruded into the engine block and the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle had not been repaired. The contact had researched online and related the failure to the manufacturer Technical Service Bulletin: 19-2346 Coolant in Cylinders (Engine and Engine Cooling). The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was 107,632.
