March 9, 2025 Big O installed 4 new tires on my 2017 Ford Edge w/Eco boost engine. March 22, 2025 engine light came on while driving. Because I just had it at Big O, I took it back to them to check. March 24, 2025 Big O diagnosed my car when code P0303 came on. Spark plugs were good, but technician saw via camera that coolant was leaking into the engine. I was told to call Ford & that I probably had to replace the entire engine. I called Groove Ford. Service manager confirmed with that code that I needed a new engine. It was out of warranty & had no recalls yet. I have always taken great care of my car & was shocked to hear this! From my research, Ford has known about this problem for years. I reported it to Ford customer service & got a claim number. They also said they won't provide financial assistance. This is my 2nd Ford & I'm REALLY disappointed with them. There are hundreds of people like me that have this problem with their Ford vehicle. A recall needs to be done!

My adaptive steering light came on and my steering wheel turned to the left like I am turning left. I am on social security and can not afford to pay 4000 dollars to have this fixed. Ford has a recall on 2017 edges for this. All these steering wheels are made just alike. This vin# should be included in the recall. I do not want to have an accident due to them not fixing this vehicle. Please help me with this. Thank you.

There are approximately 78,000 miles on the car. Recently, a rough start caused the "check engine" light to come on. After taking it to a repair shop, the mechanic discovered there was coolant seeping into the #1 cylinder. Research confirmed that it was a known issue associated with a 'porous block' created during the casting process. Ford has known about this issue with the 2.0 In-line 4 eco-boost engine for over a decade and has not recalled the engine or offered to make any sort of restitution. Repair cost is estimated to be $8,000.
A coolant intrusion required the long block to be replaced.
I turned my car on and a Warning light of adaptive steering sensor came on. Then my steering wheel was not in the correct position while I was driving. I only have 80 thousand miles on this vehicle. I feel like this vehicle should have been included the recalls of the other 2017 ford edges. Adaptive steering issues. Please add my VIN # to the recall so I can fix this. I’m afraid to drive it now. Thank you for your time with this problem. I can’t afford to fix this. I was told it would cost close to 4000 dollars.
Engine is overheating due to coolant intrusion due to manfracturing error.
Check engine light came on and I took it to the dealer. They determined there is a coolant intrusion and the fix is replacing the engine.
Fall of 2024 my right/rear brake line blew. March 3rd 2025 the left/rear brake line blew. Left with no brakes both times and costly repairs. Called my Ford dealer and they said there is no recalls. My mechanic said that both break line failed. There were no warning signs either time. Very scary and dangerous!
My vehicle started going through coolant. Next, it started to misfire and was having the check engine light come on. It had the code P0304. It was a cylinder 4 misfire. We took it in to get diagnosed at AutoNation Westlake Ford. It is part of the technical service bulletin. There is coolant leaking into the 4th cylinder of our vehicle causing this issue. It is now happening while driving. We contacted for customer service to see if they have any programs to assist with the repairs needed because the entire engine needs replaced and it is a known malfunction due to poor engine design. They said there is nothing that can be done from them.
The car started burning through coolant. A pressure test was done to determine if there way a leak, and there wasn’t. About a week later it missed when I started the car and the check engine light came on. The light was from code P0304 which is a 4th cylinder misfire. This is posted as a service technical bulletin by Ford. As we drove the car it started to misfire while driving. I was worried it would stop running while I was driving. We took the car to AutoNation Westlake Ford. They determined it is coolant intrusion into the 4th cylinder and it is from a design flaw with the engine. It is a mechanical defect due to poor engine design. The entire engine needs replaced. I have called Ford customer service and they said there is nothing Ford can do to even assist with the $11,000 repair of the car. I am left with a car I cannot drive due to safety concerns for myself and others on the road. I either try to figure out how to pay $11,000 for the repairs or scrap the car and have nothing to show for it. It is in amazing condition. 104,000 miles. I have pictures attached of the bore scope used to see where the leak is happening. The coolant is seen on the mating surface of the engine block and running down into the 4th cylinder. You can see the previous trails of fluid all along the side of the engine as well.
Recently my brakes have become very spongy. We have replaced the brake pads, calipers, rotars and e-brake. They are still spongy and nothing has been resolving the issue. My lines have been bled 3 times now at a cost of $100 each time. I have to pump my brakes to tighten them. Mechanic cannot find any problems. I see there is an open investigation with NHTSA regarding 2015-2017 ford edge braking systems. Not sure if mine is related or not, but something is wrong.
The parking brake may fail. There is a common problem when looking online.

Started car and heard rattling noise. Took the car to shop and was told it was the flex plate. Called Ford to see if I could get it repaired under CSP 22n12 I was told I COULD NOT because I previously took my car to the Ford dealer because it was driving rough and making a sound so I took it in to see if it was the flex plate (another Ford dealer diagnosed it with the coolant intrusion issue) and because they said they inspected it and despite making no repairs the dealership closed the CSP 22N12 on my car. I called Ford Customer Service and was told I could file a complaint but there is nothing that they can do. First I had to deal with coolant intrusion and now the flex plate! I think it’s horrible that the consumer has to keep being financially responsible for the flaws of this suv. Another defective part that I’m left paying for and now my car has to just be parked until I can afford it.
*Left rear brake failure. *Hard to stop - spongy brake pedal goes to floorboard when trying to stop. *Independent service center confirmed left rear brake hose leak. *Only the service center inspected the vehicle. *No warning lamps or messages of the problem prior to the failure. The problem first appeared the day of the brake failure. *I had the car towed to the independent service center. They found the left rear brake hose leaking brake fluid. They suggested replacing both rear brake hoses. Once replaced, they did not notice any other issues on the test drive afterwards.

The vehicle was not repaired due to the cost. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 55,000.
**Incident Summary:** I am reporting an issue with my 2017 Ford Edge with an EcoBoost engine. The vehicle has 39,844 miles on it. The component that failed is the head gasket, which has warped due to coolant intrusion. This issue led to the necessity of a full engine replacement. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. **Safety Concerns:** The malfunction compromised my safety and the safety of others as it led to the car overheating and the check engine light coming on. These symptoms started during the summer. Overheating poses a significant risk, potentially causing engine failure while driving, which could lead to dangerous situations on the road. Moreover, the presence of coolant in the oil and exhaust fumes indicated severe engine damage, which could have resulted in a fire hazard if not addressed promptly. **Problem Reproduction and Confirmation:** The problem has been reproduced and confirmed by an authorized Ford dealership. They performed a detailed inspection and diagnosed that the engine needs to be replaced due to the warped head gasket and coolant intrusion. **Inspections:** The vehicle and the failed component have been inspected by the Ford dealership. No inspections have been conducted by police, insurance representatives, or other authorities. **Warning Signs:** There were warning signs prior to the complete failure. The check engine light started coming on intermittently over the summer, and the car began to overheat. These symptoms indicated an underlying issue, which eventually led to the discovery of the warped head gasket and coolant intrusion. **Assessment:** Based on the inspections and symptoms, it is clear that the coolant intrusion into the engine led to the head gasket's failure. This is a known issue with EcoBoost engines, and it caused significant damage, warranting a complete engine replacement.
The contact owns a 2017 Ford Edge. The contact stated that while attempting to start the vehicle, the vehicle failed to start. The contact used a diagnostic scanner and retrieved fault codes for a misfire in cylinders #1 and #2. The contact researched the failure and concluded that the failure might be because of coolant intrusion into the engine. The local dealer was contacted; however, the vehicle was not diagnosed because the VIN was not under recall. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 110,000.
Vehicle has the 2.0 EcoBoost Turbo engine. The original engine produced same issues, mechanic found coolant intrusion at around 78,000 mi and replaced it for around $6,000 out of pocket in March of 2023. Logged everything with the local Ford to ensure new engine warranty stayed intact. Now the replaced engine is experiencing the same and also more concerning issues. Starting in Late January early February 2025, engine has 19,000 mi, vehicle has around 97,700 mi. Vehicle issues began with rough idling & white exhaust at cold start. Vehicle began shutting off while driving. It would never show any signs beforehand, would be driving normally, and then suddenly vehicle shut off and losses all power. Happened 5 times to me going speeds averaging from 35-75, including 3 times on a highway. Took vehicle into shop multiple times to rule out issues. Mechanic noticed a leaking gasket (commonly known issue with this engine), knowing the engine had warranty it was towed to the local Ford dealership. Dealership said the engine was experiencing coolant intrusion. However, in order to even request for an engine replacement under warranty they would have to do an engine teardown at around $5,000 in labor out of pocket. This vehicle is unpredictable and has sat undriven since February 2025. Ford is doing everything to get out of fixing their manufacturing issue & to disprove the part warranty that no one will give me a copy of. This issue is also logged on the Service Bulletin 19-2346
When I am putting my vehicle in reverse the camera at times has blacked out froze or even turned a weird color with lines on the screen I know there was recall for this but my vin was not included
