This page combines three types of NHTSA data: recall campaigns (official manufacturer or government actions), owner complaints (unverified consumer reports), and crash test ratings (where available). A vehicle with many complaints is not necessarily less reliable — complaint volume correlates with sales volume and vehicle age. Recalls indicate identified defects, not overall quality. To compare this model year with others, use the year navigation in the sidebar or return to the model overview page.
PJ's Truck Bodies & Equipment Co., (PJ's) is recalling certain 2009-2013 Ford F-350, F-450, and F-550 Super Duty chassis modified by PJ's and equipped with certain Muncie Power Products PTO Assemblies. In the affected vehicles, oil may leak from the PTO pressure switch onto a thermal blanket covering the exhaust.
Remedy Status
PJ's has notified owners and dealers will install a new pressure switch kit that moves the switch away from the exhaust system, free of charge. The recall began on August 28, 2014. Owners may contact PJ's customer service at 1-866-475-8782.
Driving along at 70 mph and just crossed a bridge and met the asphalt when all of a sudden the steering wheel shook violently & almost caused a fatal accident. Tractor trailer & cars swung to avoid me. Went to pull out onto expressway & at 15 mph & the rumble strips along the right shoulder caused it to shake again tremendously. This vehicle has had at least 8 episodes with the death wobble. This vehicle was taken in to a Ford dealership on December 3, 2025 and was supposed to be fixed entirely. Someone is going to be killed until Ford realizes the problem. Please act on this issue. I have reported these incidents three-times to you folks with out hearing back.
Was driving at 55mph and suddenly truck went into a terrible death wobble & almost caused a serious crash. On 11/25/2025 I had taken it in to the ford dealership to correct this problem since it had happened four times in August & September of this year. Which also almost caused four serious accidents. The ford dealer replaced L & R dragline ends & adjuster sleeve.Replaced right outer tie rod end & replaced track bar ball joint. Performed 3D wheel alignment & road tested on highway..This is the second time I’m writing you to get this recalled.
The contact owns a 2013 Ford F-350. The contact stated that while reversing, the rearview camera was intermittently inoperable. The message "Camera Unavailable - See Dealer" was displayed. The dealer and the manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 115,000.
My 2013 F-350 Super Duty 6.7 Diesel truck has a problem with the DEF system and power loss. I had a check engine light come on, and an AutoZone scan shows a P20BA Power Train System and a few other codes were noted (see attached documents). I took it to my selling dealer, and they confirmed the Reductant Heater needs to be replaced. I found out there is a recall for this defective part on just about every Ford F-Series 6.7 Diesel "except" my specific year and model. The recall on all of the other F-Series trucks have the same defective part as my truck has. Why is Ford getting away with this. If the part installed in my truck is the same defective part that is being replaced on all of the other trucks, why is my truck not included in the recall, it is the same defective part. It is costing me over $1,700.00 to replace a known to Ford and NTSB, a defective part. I would think Ford should be ordered to include my truck in the recall or replace at cost of parts only and not the full-blown excessive charge I am having to pay. PLEASE HELP
STEERING BECAME ERRATIC & UNCONTROLABLE WHILE DRIVING AT 55MPH. STEERING WHEEL SHOOK . IT WAS A DEATH WOBBLE AND ALMOST CAUSED A SERIOUS ACCIDENT. THIS HAS HAPPENED FOUR TIMES IN THE LAST TWO MONTHS. THIS IS A 2013 FORD F-350 WITH 102,000 MILES. EACH TIME TRUCK HAD IT HAPPEN, IT WAS AFTER A EXPANSION JOINT IN ROAD WAS GONE OVER. TRUCK WAS TAKEN TO FORD DEALER & WE ARE WAITING FOR THEIR ASSEMENT OF THE PROBLEM.
1. The tread seperated from the tire at 60mph on highway. small vibration prior to incident. 2. Extremely dangerous to all. Vehicle was towing loaded horse trailer, middle lane. 3. Tried to bring up to Michelin corporate with little help available. 4. I will be taking tire to vender/dealer for inspection. have photos available. 5. only warning was small vibration that became present at 50-60 mph and went away at lower speeds. Vehicle did not vibrate on prior day. thought is was out of balance wheel.

Every time I hit a bump it starts to shake and I have to slow way down to stop it. Was told not to drive on highway that it has what they call the death wobble.
The contact owns a 2013 Ford F-350. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed and determined that the EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation) cooler needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The contact related the failure to Customer Satisfaction Program: 21M04. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case was opened. The failure mileage was approximately 78,500.
Several months ago I noticed a shrill whining noise coming from the engine compartment. Upon closer inspection, I observed raw emissions coming from the exhaust manifold. Upon research I noticed that this was a very common problem with the 6.7 diesel between 2011 and 2014 with Ford even putting out a service bulletin (SSM50330) and designing repair parts and new heads for their defective design of exhaust studs. The repair of this defective part is very costly and they expect the owners of the vehicles to bear the entire cost of this repair. This is not only a safety issue because of exhaust gases entering the cab of the vehicle, but is also an EPA issue because these gases are passing directly to the atmosphere without being treated or going through the catalytic converter!
When driving my 2013 Ford 350 Crew Cab 4x4 6.7 Diesel with only 68,000 miles stock with original equiptment , I was driving to my chemo appt as I have stage 4 cancer and a mom of a young son the truck started a shake and the sterring wheel violently came away from my hands. It got so bad I almost went into oncoming traffic putting my sons life and myself and others in danger, I have brought this truck to local shop and they figure it out. This has gone several times. Its my primary truck. Im a widow and need a safe truck. I cant bring to dealer as they charge $150 hr. I dont have a extended warranty on the truck, No codes popped up on dash, Ford has many complaints with there trucks including the f 150 which i owned and it lived at the shop . over $10,000 out of pocket and problem never fixed always can find issue. something needs to be done before someone gets killed in a accident .
We had the death wobbles going 65 on cruise control everytime we hit a bump on the freeway. I lose control until I slow down to 35 mph.
I am the original owner and began experiencing the death wobble in 2020. I put $5k into my suspension and put an additional steering stabilizer bracket to still experience the wobble. It’s dangerous and has nearly made me wreck with my only child onboard. Something has to be done. This is a known issue that Ford will not address or repair properly. These vehicles are not cheap and we should feel safe to drive on the interstate. I currently cannot. Extremely disappointed in Ford
The Ford F350 Death Wobble due to - stablizers and track bar.
Cp4 pump failure resulting in stalled engine and loss of power brakes and power steering. Lifter failure resulting in loss of power and check engine light illuminating
When hitting a bump in the road at highway speed, the front end of the truck will began to wobble and oscillate uncontrollably. Had to stop by the side of the road to get it to stop. Took it to the local Ford dealership and they are replacing all the steering components in the front end at my expense…$2100. This is apparently a known issue with 2009 and later Ford Super Duty trucks. This is an extremely dangerous situation and should be rectified by Ford at no cost to owners.
We have experienced “death wobble” several times with the Ford. Every time we get all the necessary parts replaced and they’ll last about 6 months and the death wobble will return. It’s highly dangerous as you lose control of the vehicle and it can walk into another lane with traffic. You are unable to steer when this is happening. The only way to regain control is to slow the vehicle down to around 35/40 mph. It’s a danger to us and to others on the road.
As I drive on the freeway, if I hit even the smallest bump or rough patch in the road, the vehicle begins to shake violently and the only way to stop the shaking is to slow way down to an almost complete stop. It is difficult to see and steer to control vehicle. Often I am not able to pull over to the side of the road to stop and end up stopping in a lane in the middle of the freeway. This is very dangerous. We have had the vehicle serviced multiple times to try to repair the problem and nothing has helped.
The 2013 Ford F-350 Death Wobble. The front end suspension was affected. It occurred on an Interstate freeway at approximately 75 MPH. This is the first time for the vehicle. It has not been to a shop post incident. There were two occupants in the vehicle at the time of incident. There was a section of less smooth pavement at the time the shake started.
