CERTAIN SPORT UTILITY VEHICLES AND TRUCKS FAIL TO COMPLY WITH THE REQUIREMENTS OF FEDERAL MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY STANDARD NO. 110, "TIRE SELECTION AND RIMS." THESE VEHICLES HAVE AN INCOMPLETE TIRE RIM DESIGNATION ON THE CERTIFICATION/TIRE LABEL LOCATED ON THE DRIVER'S DOOR EDGE. IN ADDITION, THE LABEL MAY ALSO BE MISSING THE TIRE LOAD RATING ON THE LABEL. ALTHOUGH THIS INFORMATION IS NOT REQUIRED BY THE STANDARD, IF A TIRE OF A LESSER LOAD RATING IS INSTALLED, THE TIRE MAY NOT BE ABLE TO SUSTAIN THE LOADS ENCOUNTERED DURING USE.
Remedy Status
A LABEL THAT WILL CORRECT THE LABEL ORIGINALLY INSTALLED WILL BE MAILED TO CONSUMERS ALONG WITH INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS. THE CUSTOMER WILL HAVE THE OPTION FOR DEALERS TO INSTALL THE LABEL. THE RECALL BEGAON ON NOVEMBER 7, 2006. OWNERS SHOULD CONTACT CADILLAC AT 1-866-982-2239, CHEVROLET AT 1-800-630-2438, AND GMC TRUCKS AT 1-866-996-9463.
GM IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2004-2011, CHEVROLET COLORADO, GMC CANYON, MODEL YEAR 2006, ISUZU I-280/I-350, AND MODEL YEAR 2007-2008, I-290/I-370, REGULAR CAB VEHICLES AND EXTENDED CAB VEHICLES WITHOUT A REAR SEAT AND EQUIPPED WITH A FRONT 60/40 SPLIT BENCH SEAT. THESE VEHICLES FAIL TO COMPLY WITH THE REQUIREMENTS OF FEDERAL MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY STANDARD NO. 225, "CHILD RESTRAINT ANCHORAGE SYSTEMS." THE TOP TETHER ANCHOR FOR THE FRONT CENTER SEAT IS NOT ACCESSIBLE AND THE OWNER MANUAL DOES NOT INCLUDE INSTRUCTIONS REGARDING HOW TO USE THE TOP TETHER.

DEALERS WILL CUT A HOLE INTO THE BACK PANEL TRIM COVER TO ALLOW ACCESS TO THE TOP TETHER ANCHOR FOR THE FRONT CENTER SEAT POSITION AND WILL PROVIDE SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION AS TO USE IN THE OWNER'S MANUAL. THE MANUFACTURER HAS NOT YET PROVIDED AN OWNER NOTIFICATION SCHEDULE FOR THIS CAMPAIGN. GM IS RECALLING 185,903 MODEL YEAR 2004-2009 COLORADO, GMC MODEL YEAR 2009-2004 CANYON, MODEL YEAR 2006 I-280, I-350, MODEL YEAR 2007-2008 I-290, AND I-370, PASSENGER VEHICLES ORIGINALLY SOLD IN OR CURRENTLY REGISTERED IN THE STATES OF ALABAMA, ARIZONA, FLORIDA, GEORGIA, HAWAII, LOUISIANA, MISSISSIPPI, NEVADA, NEW MEXICO, PUERTO RICO, SOUTH CAROLINA, TEXAS, U.S. VIRGIN ISLANDS AND UTAH. SOME OF THESE VEHICLES HAVE A BRAKE LAMP SWITCH THAT MAY NOT WORK AS DESIGNED DUE TO CONTAMINATION IN THE SWITCH.

DEALERS WILL INSPECT AND REPLACE THE NECESSARY COMPONENTS AS SPECIFIED IN THE RECALL BULLETIN FREE OF CHARGE. GM ANTICIPATES THAT PARTS WILL BE AVAILABLE BY JUNE 2010. A SPECIAL COVERAGE FOR VEHICLES REGISTERED IN ALL OTHER STATES WILL BE IMPLEMENTED IN THE SAME TIME FRAME. IN THE INTERIM, OWNERS WHO EXPERIENCE THE FAILURE CAN OBTAIN A FREE REPAIR, HOWEVER THEY WILL BE REQUIRED TO RETURN WHEN THE NEW DESIGN PART BECOMES AVAILABLE. While driving my vehicle the vehicle early in the morning going to work, the headlights went out. I pulled over, and turned it to auto and they worked there, but did not work when switching it to headlamps. That happened just the one time. Also, since I have owned the vehicle, after operating the vehicle when it is dark outside, and then getting out to get gas, and getting back in. I crank the vehicle over, and I have no dash lights. I cannot see how fast I am going. It only does this after operating the vehicle and turning it off, and then getting back in and starting it again. This has occurred many times for the past 4 years.
I WAS STOPPED AT A LIGHT BEHIND ANOTHER CAR I WAS REAR ENDED WHICH PUSHED MY TRUCK INTO THE BACK OF THE CAR AHEAD OF ME SO HARD IT MADE MY TRUCK AIRBORNE AND ROLLED 6 TIMES THRU A CITY INTERSECTION. THE FRONT OF MY TRUCK WAS CRUSHED ALMOST TO NOTHING OUT OF THE 4 VEHICLES INVOLVED MINE WAS THE ONLY ONE WHERE THE AIRBAGS DIDN'T DEPLOY. CONTRIBUTING TO ALL THE INJURIES I SUSTAINED AND I WAS THE ONLY WHO HAD INJURIES.
AFTER FILLING UP FUEL SPITS BACK OUT OF THE FILLER TUBE. HAS OCCURED MULTIPLE TIMES FOR MANY YEARS. APPEARS TO BE GETTING WORSE. VEHICLE IS STATIONARY
BOUGHT OUR PRISTINE 2007 GMC CANYON SLE IN NOV 2017 WITH 45, 471 ORIGINAL MILES. BEEN VERY HAPPY WITH IT UNTIL LIGHTING QUIRKS STARTED ABOUT A YEAR AGO. THE LAST YEAR OR SO THE TURN SIGNAL AND BRAKE LIGHTS HAVE PULSES WHERE THEY DECIDE TO NOT WORK CORRECTLY. THEN WORK FINE FOR MONTHS, BEFORE ACTING UP AGAIN. WE ACTUALLY HAD OUR CANYON IN AT THE GMC DEALER IN DEC 2019 FOR LOOS INTAKE MANIFOLD REPAIR, 2ND TIME IN LAST 9 MONTHS.. THE SERVICE MANAGER TOLD US WE ALSO HAD NO BRAKE LIGHTS. I SAID I DID NOT KNOW THAT AND I WAS NOW CONCERNED HOW LONG THEY HAVE NOT BEEN WORKING, AND THAT WE HAVE HAD INTERMITTENT TURN SIGNAL ISSUES A NUMBER OF TIMES IN THE LAST YEAR. COMES AND GOES. I THEN ASKED IF THERE WAS ANY BRAKE LIGHT OR LIGHT SWITCH RECALL ON OUR CANYON. I SAID I REMEMBER SEEING A RECALL NOTICE ON CONSUMER REPORTS. HE SAID THEIR IS NO RECALL ON OUR CANYON. THEY SAID THEY FIXED THE BRAKE LIGHT WITH A NEW BRAKE PEDAL BRAKE LIGHT SWITCH. TONIGHT THE LIGHTS STARTED ACTING UP AGAIN. WHEN PUSH BRAKE PEDDLE, LEFT TURN SIGNAL TURNS ON. LEFT TURN SIGNAL WAS ALSO INTERMITTENT FUNCTION, OCCASIONALLY THIS LAST WEEK. TONIGHT IT HAD A HARD TIME FIGURING OUT HOW TO WORK, FLASH CORRECTLY. THEN, WHILE DRIVING HOME TONIGHT AND WITH MY KIDS FOLLOWING ME IN THEIR SUV, WHEN WE GOT HOME THEY SAID THE CANYON NEEDS TO STAY PARKED UNTIL REPAIRED. THEY SAID MY TURN SIGNALS AND BRAKES LIGHT ARE TOTALLY MESSED UP AND NOT WORKING. NO LEFT RUNNING LIGHT, NO LEFT BRAKE LIGHT, AND RIGHT BRAKE LIGHT ON FULL BRIGHTNESS THE WHOLE TIME. THEY COULD NOT TELL WHEN I WAS BRAKING OR USING THE TURN SIGNALS. INTERESTING HOW THE DEALER SERVICE MANAGER DID NOT RECOMMEND TO US THAT THEY REPLACE THE LIGHT SWITCH ANYWAYS, JUST TO BE SAFE.
ABS FAULT I HAVE REPLACED BRAKES WHEEL HUBS AND SENSERS 2 TIMES IN 3 MONTHS STILL ABS FAULT 98,000 MILES ON TRUCK THIS ISSUE IS ALL OVER THE INTERNET NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 GMC CANYON. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE REAR SIDE CURTAIN AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT WAS CONCERNED THAT THE FAILURE WAS A KNOWN ISSUE FOR SIMILAR 2004 TO 2012 MODELS. THE DEALER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 218,000.
WHEN YOU START YOUR TRUCK UP LET IT WARM UP YOU START DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AND YOU TOUCH THE BRAKES AND THE RPM START GOING UP AND DOWN UP AND DOWN WITH VEHICLE DYING SPORADICALLY
THE AIR CONDITION BLOWER MOTOR SUDDENLY FAILED. UP INSPECTION AND TROUBLESHOOTING IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT THE PLUG CONNECTING TO THE MOTOR HAD MELTED.
TL* THE CONTACT CALLED ON BEHALF OF THE OWNER OF A 2007 GMC CANYON. WHILE DRIVING AT AN UNKNOWN SPEED, THE CONTACT BECAME NAUSEOUS. THE CONTACT PULLED THE VEHICLE OFF THE ROADWAY, EXITED THE VEHICLE, AND PASSED OUT FOR SEVERAL MINUTES ACCORDING TO A WITNESS. THE DRIVER EXPERIENCED SYMPTOMS DUE TO CARBON MONOXIDE POISONING. THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO MOVE THE VEHICLE ONCE SHE REGAINED CONSCIOUSNESS, BUT BECAME OVERWHELMED. THE CONTACT STOPPED THE VEHICLE AND, WHILE ATTEMPTING TO RETRIEVE DOCUMENTS FROM THE GLOVE BOX, SHE NOTICED FLAMES INSIDE THE GLOVE BOX. THE CONTACT EXITED THE VEHICLE. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT WAS NOTIFIED AND WAS ABLE TO EXTINGUISH THE FIRE; HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. A FIRE REPORT WAS NOT FILED. THE DRIVER WAS TRANSPORTED BY AMBULANCE TO A NEARBY HOSPITAL. THE DRIVER RECEIVED OXYGEN FOR SIX HOURS TO REMOVE THE CARBON MONOXIDE FROM HER LUNGS. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A PRIVATE LOT. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 85,003.
MY FRAME HAS A MAJOR RUST ISSUE ON THE DRIVERS SIDE UNDER TH GAS TANK. I HAVE READ SIMILAR COMPLAINTS ON THE INTERNET WITH THE RUST BEING ON THE DRIVER SIDE UNDER THE GAS TANK.
LOSS OF POWER STEERING, SLOW BREAKING AND UNABLE TO ACCELERATE. PROBLEM FIXES TEMPORARILY WHEN SHUTTING THE VEHICLE OFF AND THEN BACK ON.
VEHICLE WON'T START AFTER IT SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING ON FRWY . PULL OVER AND STARTED AFTER A FEW MINUTES LIKE NOTHING HAD HAPPENED
THE VEHICLE HAS 9 BOLTS HOLDING THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD TO THE ENGINE. THE OWNER SMELLED STRONG EXHAUST SMELL IN THE CABIN. HE REMOVED THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD FROM VEHICLE AND FOUND THAT 4 OF THE 9 BOLTS HAD FAILED AND WERE BROKEN OFF FLUSH WITH THE ENGINE BLOCK. THERE WAS EXHAUST RESIDUE IN THE IMMEDIATE AREA OF THE 1ST AND 5TH CYLINDER PORT INDICATING THAT EXHAUST GAS WAS BEING DISCHARGED INTO THE ENGINE BAY. THE FAILURE IS AN ALARMING SAFETY EVENT BECAUSE OF THE POTENTIAL FOR HOT EXHAUST TO CAUSE A FIRE IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT AND THE POTENTIAL FOR ASPHYXIATION DUE TO CONTAMINATED CABIN AIR. THIS IS ALSO AN ENVIRONMENTAL CONTROL FAILURE BECAUSE A PORTION OF THE EXHAUST GAS ISS BYPASSING THE CATALYTIC CONVERTERS. THE OWNER IS THE ORIGINAL OWNER AND ALL EQUIPMENT IS ORIGINAL. HE IS A DEGREED MECHANICAL ENGINEER AND HAS WORKED IN AUTOMOTIVE COMPONENT MANUFACTURING. GM WAS CONTACTED DIRECTLY AND THE OWNER DIRECTED TO SEE THE DEALERSHIP. THE OWNER PROVIDED THE DEALERSHIP WITH THE ATTACHED PHOTOS BUT THEN REFUSED TO INSPECT THE VECHICLE WITHOUT FIRST COLLECTING A "DIAGNOSTIC FEE." THE OWNER REFUSED.
HEATER CONTROLS QUIT WORKING. UPON FURTHER INVESTIGATION, THE FACTORY WIRING HARNESS MAIN HVAC CONNECTOR IS BURNT.
VEHICLE IS A SMALL PICK UP EXTENDED CAB WITH HALF DOORS THAT HAVE REAR SIDE HINGES. AIR BAG SERVICE LIGHT WAS SET. UPON REPAIR DIAGNOSIS, IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT WIRES THAT TRAVEL BETWEEN THE BODY AND THE LEFT SIDE HALF DOOR -BEHIND THE DRIVERS DOOR WERE BROKEN FROM THE DOOR OPENING AND CLOSING. SINCE THIS HALF DOOR IS USED VERY LITTLE, THERE IS A DEFECT WITH THE QUALITY OF WIRE THAT CANNOT WITHSTAND FLEXING BY OPENING AND CLOSING THE DOOR. THESE WIRES CONTROL THE PRE TENSIONER ASSEMBLY IN THE HALF DOOR. WHEN THE WIRES ARE BROKEN IT DISABLES THE ENTIRE AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEM. WIRES WERE NOT PHYSICALLY DAMAGED BY ANY OTHER MEANS. THESE WIRE SHOULD NOT BE BROKEN ON THIS AGE VEHICLE WITH LITTLE USE.
VEHICLE CRANKS BUT DOES NOT START. SECURITY LIGHT FLASHING. AFTER 10 MINUTES WITH KEY ON AND SECURITY LIGHT OFF AFTER TURNING OFF THEN CRANK ENGINE STARTS. HAPPENED AT LEAST 15 TIMES. NOW, ENGINE SOMETIMES WILL CRANK ITSELF IN THE "ON" POSITION AND WILL NOT START AND SECURITY LIGHT FLASHING. HAPPENED THREE TIMES AND FINALLY AFTER THREE 10 MINUTE KEY ON WAIT CYCLES IN A DARK PARKING LOT SECURITY LIGHT STOPPED FLASHING AND STARTED AND MADE IT HOME. VEHICLE VERY UNRELIABLE NOW. I AM TIRED OF HAVING A VEHICLE THAT THINKS THE OWNER IS TRYING TO STEAL OWNED VEHICLE. AND AUTO CRANK IN THE ON - NOT START- POSITION WITHOUT RUNNING. HOW DO I BYPASS THIS AWFUL SYSTEM WITHOUT ANOTHER CAR PAYMENT TO ANOTHER AUTOMAKER? THIS DEFECT IS DANGEROUS AND HAZARDOUS WHEN STOPPING FOR FUEL AND HAVE TO LEAVE ENGINE ON OR HOLDING UP CUSTOMERS UNTIL ENGINE STARTS. ALSO HOLDING UP VEHICLES ON A FERRY BOAT. VERY EMBARRASSING WHEN FRIENDS AND CO WORKERS HAVE TO WAIT TILL VEHICLE DECIDES TO START AND RUN. AND BEING LATE TO WORK. I DO NOT WANT NEW PARTS THAT WILL FAIL AGAIN, I WANT IT BYPASSED. SEND ME A KIT WITH DIRECTIONS ASAP! *TR
THE TRUCK'S SECURITY SYSTEM AND REMOTE START STOPPED WORKING. IT CONSISTENTLY HAS TO BE RESET FOR 10 MINUTES EVERY FAILED ATTEMPT AT TRYING TO GET THE VEHICLE STARTED. HAVE ALTOGETHER STOPPED USING THE SECURITY SYSTEM (WHICH IS NOT A GOOD IDEA IN AN APARTMENT COMPLEX). NOW THE AUXILIARY SYSTEM STILL REMAINS ON IF THE ONLY DOOR USED IS THE DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR. THE PASSENGER DOOR HAS TO BE OPENED AND CLOSED TO TURN THIS OFF. THIS IS NOT SAFE (ESPECIALLY WHEN PARKED IN A PARKING GARAGE, A COLD NIGHT, OR PARKING AWAY FROM A LIGHT). *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE AIR BAG WIRING HARNESS NEEDED TO BE PATCHED UP. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER, WHO STATED THAT THE WIRING HARNESS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000.
LEFT REAR BRAKE LAMP IS INOPERATIVE PERIODICALLY. I'VE REPLACED THE BULB 3 TIMES IN THE PAST BUT THIS TIME THE LIGHT WOULD NOT WORK. THE LAST BULB WAS PARTIALLY MELTED AT CONTACTS. NOT COVERED BY RECALL - I AM PAYING FOR SOCKET REPLACEMENT. DON'T KNOW IF THIS IS A CHRONIC PROBLEM. *TR
THE TRUCK EXPERIENCES ENGINE STUTTER AT LOW IDLE (>1000RPMS) VARYING FROM 1000 RPMS TO 200 RPMS WITH FELT LOSS OF POWER STEERING AT LOW RPMS. AT LOWER RPMS, TYPICALLY AT STOPS OR LOW IDLE TURNS, THE TRUCK WILL STALL WITH LOSS OF POWER STEERING AND BRAKE CONTROL (TAPPING THE BRAKE EQUALS SLAMMING THE BRAKE). RECENTLY, THE ISSUE IS NOW BECOMING MORE FREQUENT AND NOW OCCURRING WHILE MAKING LOW IDLE TURNS INTO TRAFFIC CAUSING A STALL. THE ONLY RESOLUTION IS TO DROP THE TRUCK IN NEUTRAL, IN TRAFFIC, AND RESTART HOPING THE BUMP START WILL OCCUR ON THE FIRST TRY BEFORE BEING HIT FROM BEHIND. I HAVE CALLED GM SERVICE SHOPS, THE SERVICE CENTER IN DETROIT AS WELL AS LOOKED FOR RECALLS ONLINE AND THERE ARE NO OFFICIAL POSTINGS OR KNOWLEDGE OF THESE PROBLEMS DESPITE NUMEROUS INDIVIDUAL ACCOUNTS FOUND IN GMC/CHEVY FORUMS. THIS ISSUE IS A DANGEROUS ISSUE IN MY OPINION AND NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED. *TR
