WHILE DRIVING OVER 50MPH ON THE HIGHWAY I GET A VIOLENT SHAKING IN THE ENGINE AND THE STEERING WHEEL SHAKES BAKE AND FORTH. THE ENGINE SOUND VERY LOUD WHILE ITS DOING THIS. IT ONLY OCCURS WHEN I AM AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE FUEL INJECTORS WERE DEFECTIVE, WHICH FILLED THE CRANKCASE FULL OF FUEL AND WAS A KNOWN ISSUE. THE VEHICLE WOULD HAVE BEEN REPAIRED PER AN EXTENDED WARRANTY; HOWEVER, IT FELL OUTSIDE OF THE PARAMETERS OF THE EXTENDED WARRANTY, INCREASING THE RISK OF AN ENGINE COMPARTMENT FIRE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 112,000.

EXHAUST MANIFOLD BOLTS BREAKING OFF CAUSING EXHAUST LEAK WHERE MANIFOLD BOLTS ONTO HEAD. DUE TO EXHAUST LEAK NOW VEHICLE IS THROWING CODES FOR CATALYTIC THRESHOLD LOW. WHICH LEADS TO A MAGNITUDE OF PROBLEMS TO LACK OF POWER, POOR FUEL MILEAGE AND NOT BEING ABLE TO PASS EMISSION TEST IN SOME STATES. PROBLEM RESULTS IN UPWARD OF THOUSAND DOLLARS IN REPAIR FOR FAULTY BOLTS, AFTER RESEARCHING SAID PROBLEM IT IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH GM V8 OF THIS YEAR OLDER AND NEWER AS WELL. THIS IS A MAJOR DEFECT AND FLAW IN GM'S DESIGN AND NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED ASPA!!! THIS IS A PROB THAT IS AFFECTING EPA LAWS AND NEEDS ACTION TAKEN AGAINST GM TO FIX THIS PROBLEM BEFORE IT GETS WORSE. DURING THE FAILURE, THE TEMPERATURE GAUGE READING WAS HIGH AND STEAM APPEARED FROM UNDER THE HOOD. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE ENGINE CYLINDER HEAD WAS CRACKED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 76,400.
I SMELLED EXHAUST FUMES IN THE CAB OF THE PICKUP TRUCK AND HEARD A SHRIEKING SOUND UNDER THE HOOD. I HAD TO PUT THE WINDOW DOWN TO RELIEVE MY DIZZINESS FROM THE FUMES. UPON INVESTIGATION I FOUND 3 OF THE 6 BOLTS BROKEN THAT FASTEN THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD TO THE ENGINE. EXHAUST FUMES ARE LEAKING FROM THE BURNED OUT GASKET. *TR
CRACKED CYLINDER HEADS, ALSO KNOWN AS CASTECH HEAD CASTING #706 THESE HEADS CRACK ON THE ENGINE CAUSE ANTIFREEZE TO MIX WITH THE OIL AND DESTROY THE ENGINE, I HAVE CONTACTED GM AND THEY WILL DO NOTHING FOR ME, EVEN THOUGH THERE HAS BEEN LAWSUITS AND ITS A VERY WELL KNOWN PROBLEM WITH THE VORTEC 4.8 AND 5.3L GM ENGINE. *TR
AT THE ABOVE LISTED DATE MY VEHICLE BEGAN BLOWING EXCESSIVE BLUE SMOKE THROUGH THE EXHAUST. I DISCOVERED AT THAT TIME THERE HAD BEEN A RECALL ON THE FUEL INJECTORS SEVERAL YEARS BEFORE. IT CONTINUES TO BLOW EXCESSIVE SMOKE BUT ONLY AT IDLE. I WISH TO HAVE THE PROBLEM CORRECTED AS IT IS HURTING THE ENVIRONMENT. I WAS GIVEN A PRICE AT THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP TO REPAIR THIS ISSUE. IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT ALSO NOTICED THAT THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FAILED AND HE WAS UNABLE TO DETERMINE WHAT SPEED HE WAS TRAVELING, HOW MUCH FUEL WAS IN THE VEHICLE, ETC. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN FOR INSPECTION WHERE THE CONTACT WAS ADVISED THAT THE CLUSTER WIRING FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED HOWEVER, THEY OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 50,000. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 53,000.
I BOUGHT THIS TRUCK FROM DEALER WITH 40151 MILES. I HAVE THIS TRUCK FROM 2007 TO PRESENT TIME WITH THE MILEAGE AT 51,000 MILES. THE TRUCK HAS BEEN USED FOR PERSONAL USE ONLY. I FEEL THAT THERE SHOULD BE A INVESTIGATION INTO THIS PROBLEM BECAUSE THIS WILL EFFECT MILLIONS OF GM TRUCKS. THIS PROBLEM WILL COST OVER $1000. TO FIX BECAUSE OF POSSIBLE FIRE,ENGINE FAILURE, EMISSIONS PROBLEMS, OTHER VERY COSTLY PROBLEMS THAT WILL RELATE TO THE BOLTS BREAKING OFF FROM DEFECT ON THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD. THIS CAN CAUSE VERY SERIOUS PROBLEMS. (THIS IS AS SERIOUS AS THE TOYOTA CAR PROBLEMS OR WORSE). I ALSO THINK WITH THE NEW AIR EMISSIONS STANDARDS THESE TRUCKS WILL NOT PASS THE INSPECTIONS. BECAUSE OF THE EXHAUST LEAKS ON THE MOTOR. THERE IS NO DOUBT I FEEL THIS SHOULD & CAN BE A CLASS ACTION SUIT. GM KNOWS OF THIS DEFECT OF THE BOLT BUT STILL NO RECALL. WHY MUST IT TAKE SOMEONE TO GET KILLED OR HURT BEFORE THEY FIX THE PROBLEM. I DON'T HAVE THOUSANDS TO FIX THIS PROBLEM & NOW WHEN I DRIVE I AM WORRIED ABOUT THE TRUCK GOING ON FIRE. THE CONTACT EXPRESSED CONCERN OVER THE SITUATION BECAUSE IT COULD LEAD TO A FAILURE OF THE RADIATOR. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 28,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE LOCAL MECHANIC REPLACED THE CYLINDER HEADS, THE GASKET KIT, BOLTS AND NUTS. THE MANUFACTURER DENIED ASSISTANCE WITH THE REPAIRS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 78,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 79,520.
