TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 GMC SIERRA 800 (NA) EQUIPPED WITH YOKOHAMA GEOLANDAR A/T-S TIRES, SIZE: LT 285/75/R16 (NA). WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH, THE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE SHOOK AND THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE TIRE BLEW OUT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE TIRE WAS REPLACED WITH THE SPARE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THE WARRANTY WAS EXPIRED. THE APPROXIMATE VEHICLE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 101,793 AND THE TIRE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 14,000.

VISUALLY INSPECTED TIRES AND CHECKED PRESSURE ON ALL TIRES BEFORE A LONG ROAD TRIP. TIRE BLEW WITHOUT WARNING AND AM NOW NERVOUS ABOUT THE REMAINING TIRES. WAS ON INTERSTATE 10 AT APPROX 70MPH WHEN TIRE BLEW, LUCKILY NO ONE WAS NEXT TO ME AS THE REAR END OF THE TRUCK FISHTAILED INTO THE NEXT LANE. WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER SAFELY AND PUT ON A SPARE.
BOUGHT TRUCK 15 DAYS AGO. HAD A NAIL IN MY TIRE SO I PUT ON THE SPARE TIRE WHICH WAS RUSTY AND PROBABLY NEVER LOOKED AT FOR 11 YEARS BUT HAD TO PUT THIS ON TO AVOID BEING STRANDED. THIS VEHICLE WAS JUST INSPECTED AND WAS WONDERING IF THE SPARE TIRE IS INCLUDED IN THE INSPECTION PROCESS. DUE TO RUSTY TIRE CONDITION THE LUGS LOOSENED AND TIRE FELL OFF WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGH WAY AFTER I CHANGED IT. I WAS TOLD BYE THE MECHANICS THAT THE LUGS LOOSENED DUE TO A RUSTY FAULTY SPARE. DOES THIS FALL UNDER ANY LAWS DUE TO JUST PURCHASING THIS VEHICLE AND IT GOING THROUGH THE DEALERS INSPECTION STICKER. THIS CUSSED A SERIOUS ACCIDENT AND WANT TO KNOW IF THEY SHOULD BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE OR IF I AM LIABLE FOR THIS.
WHILE DRIVING, NEEDED TO SLOW DOWN FOR TRAFFIC LIGHT AND THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR. I WAS ABLE TO STILL DRIVE IT, AS THE BRAKES WOULD STOP THE TRUCK EVENTUALLY. CAUSE WAS THE RUSTED REAR BRAKE LINE THAT RUPTURED. COST TO FIX WAS $400.00 IN ADDITION, ON 12.27.13, I HAD THE FRONT WHEEL BEARING REPLACED AT A COST OF $525.00. THE TRUCK ONLY HAS 66,600 MILES ON IT. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 GMC CK2500 HD EQUIPPED WITH COOPER DEAN MUD TERRAIN RADIAL SXT TIRES, SIZE LT265/75R16. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH, THERE WAS A HEAVY VIBRATION FELT WITHIN THE VEHICLE AS THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE TIRE EXPLODED. THE VEHICLE BECAME UNCONTROLLABLE AND VEERED FROM THE RIGHT LANE TO THE CENTER MEDIAN BEFORE STOPPING. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER WHO REPLACED THE TIRE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. WHILE DRIVING THE TIRE TREAD SEPARATED COMPLETELY FROM THE TIRE CAUSING MODERATE BODY DAMAGE TO VEHICLE. TIRE IS A TEMPRA TRAILCUTTER RADIAL RT SIZE LT 305/70R16. A ONLINE SEARCH OF THIS TIRE REVEALED A RECALL WAS ISSUED ON THE SAME TIRE BUT ONE SIZE SMALLER BY ON 03-14-06. TREAWAYS RECALL # 06T008000 FOR TIRES MANUFACTURED BETWEEN 02-01-04 TO 01-21-06. MY TIRE SHOWS A MANUFACTURED DATE OF 4605 ( MEANING THE 46TH WEEK OF THE YEAR 2005 ). VEHICLE HAD TO BE TOWED AND SPARE TIRE USED. BODY DAMAGED WILL HAVE TO BE REPAIRED. I STILL HAVE THE TIRE AND SEPARATED TREAD FOR INSPECTION. *TR

OVER THE PAST WEEK, I NOTICED THAT MY GMC DENALI TRUCK WAS PULLING TO THE LEFT SO I HAD TO OVERSTEER TO THE RIGHT. EACH DAY, THE EFFECT BECAME MORE PRONOUNCED SO I HAD THE LOCAL GMC DEALER CHECK OUT THE TRUCK. THE PROBLEM WAS THAT THE CORDS IN THE FRONT GOODYEAR WRANGLER HP TIRE HAD SEPARATED--IT WAS A BLOWOUT WAITING TO HAPPEN. I DID NOT HIT ANYTHING WITH MY TRUCK TO HAVE CAUSED THE SEPARATION, THE TREAD WEAR WAS EVEN ON ALL TIRES, THEY WERE REGULARLY CHECKED FOR INFLATION, AND MOST OF THE TREAD WAS LEFT SINCE I HAVE PUT LOW MILEAGE ON THIS TIRES. A NUMBER OF DEATHS HAVE BEEN REPORTED DUE TO FAILURE OF THIS TYPE OF TIRE. I HAD BOTH FRONT TIRES REPLACED AND OVER THE NEXT FEW MONTHS, I WILL REPLACE THE REMAINING TWO TIRES. I PURCHASED BRIDGESTONE DUELER ALENZA HL TIRES AT 42509 ON 06/10/2009 AND ON 04/10/2011 I HAD A SLOW LEAK AND WENT TO BRIDGESTONE DEALER FOR REPAIR BUT NOTICED CRACKING IN TREAD. I WAS TOLD THIS WAS NORMAL! IN MAY 2013 MY MECHANIC SAID THIS CRACKING WAS DRY ROT AND I VERIFIED WITH OTHER TIRE DEALER TRUCK HAD 70693 MILE. THIS IS A 65000 MILE TIRE AND I ONLY HAD 14000 MILES BEFORE CRACKING STARTED- THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD. I DID NOT GO BACK TO BRIDGESTONE DEALER BECAUSE I WAS GIVEN INACCURATE INFO AND I BOUGHT MICHELIN INSTEAD. I JUST PURCHASED A 2004 GMC 2500HD FROM A PRIVATE PARTY. I INSPECTED THE TIRES (COOPER DISCOVERER ATR, LT265/16R16 LOAD RANGE E, DOT#3DW8 C8C 2406) AND REVEALED THAT THE TREAD AND SIDEWALLS ON ALL FOUR TIRES WERE SEPARATING. I CONTACTED THE PREVIOUS OWNER WHO CONTACTED THE DEALER WHOM HE PURCHASED THE TRUCK FROM. THE DEALER TOLD HIM THAT I WOULD HAVE TO CONTACT COOPER TIRE COMPANY TO RESOLVE THIS ISSUE. UPON READING THE NHTSA COMPLAINTS AND RECALL HISTORY I REALIZE THAT IT IS USELESS TO CONTACT COOPER TIRE SINCE NHTSA HAS NOT MANDATED COOPER TO RECALL THE REST OF THE TIRES THAT WERE EFFECTED BY THE "BAD ROBBER" IN 2006. I WILL HAVE THE TIRES REPLACED AND PLACE THEM IN THE GARAGE FOR WHEN THE RECALL COMES OUT AFTER SOMEONE'S LIFE IS TAKEN DUE TO A FAILED TIRE AND A FAILED POLICY. I BOUGHT (2) SIERRA 2500 HD TRUCKS THAT HAVE SERIOUS HUB ASSEMBLY PROBLEMS WITH ONE REPLACEMENT IN 2011, LIGHTING SYSTEM WORK WHEN IT WANT TO AND HAS DRAIN FIVE BATTERIES FROM AAA AND ADVANCE AUTO IN THE PAST SEVEN YEARS, ABS/ENGINE LIGHT STAYS ON SINCE 2007 AND AFTER 10 YEARS IS GASKET PROBLEMS WITH GM PRODUCTS. I HAVE TALK TO GM EXECUTIVE OFFICE THAT FIX THE HUB ASSEMBLY AND TAILGATE RECALLS PROBLEM IN 2011 BUT UNWILLING TO DEAL WITH IT NOW AFTER TALKING TO GM DAN. I THINK I NEED OUT SIDE COUNSEL AND ENGINEERING FIRM TO TEST AND TESTIFY ON MY BEHAVE AND 2,300 OTHER OWNERS WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. I WANT NEW VEHICLES AND SETTING UP A DATE WITH CONGRESSIONAL OVERSIGHT COMMITTEE, AND NHTSA REVIEW MY CASE. DRIVING ON FREEWAY AT SPEED LIMIT OF 75 MPH ON RURAL FREEWAY WHEN RIGHT REAR TIRE SEPARATED AND BLEW. THERE WAS NOTHING THE DRIVER HIT OR RAN OVER. IT JUST BLEW OUT ALMOST CAUSING A VERY BAD ACCIDENT. *JB
I BOUGHT NEW GMC SIERRRA IN MID 2004, TRUCK EQUIPPED WITH GOODYEAR WRANGLER ST. TRUCK EXHIBITS VERY POOR WET TRACTION AND EXCESSIVE TIRE WEAR. WHEN TIRE WAS APPROXIMATELY AT 18,000 MILES HAD SERIOUS SPIN OUT ON I75 SOUTH OF TAMPA IN LITE RAINY CONDITION. SINCE THEN NOTICED TIRE SPIN ON SLIGHTEST WET ROADS, EVEN HAS TROUBLE PULLING OUT OF CAR WASHES. THIS IS DANGEROUS TIRE AND SHOULD NOT BE INSTILLED ON LARGE VEHICLES. TIRE IS DOWN TO WEAR MARKS AND ONLY HAS 28000 MILES. TIRES HAVE BEEN ROTATED AND MAINTAINED ONLY BY GM DEALERS. GOODYEAR DEALER STATES THIS TIRE SHOULD NOT HAVE BEEN INSTALLED ON FULL SIZE TRUCKS, IT WILL WEAR EXCESSIVELY AND MAY LEAD TO BLOWOUT. DEALERSHIP WON'T DO ANYTHING AND GOODYEAR STATES IT IS NOT COVERED BY WARRANTY BECAUSE IT WAS ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT INSTALLED BY MANUFACTURER. *TR
ON 7/10/05, WHILE PULLING MY CAMPER, WHICH IS A 04 GMC 2500HD, BOUGHT NEW TO PULL THIS CAMPER, I EXPERIENCED A FLAT R/R TIRE WITH-IN 40 MILES ON THE TRUCK. ON 7/11/04 I EXPERIENCED 2 FLAT TIRES ON THIS TRUCK DUE TO DEFECTIVE VALVE STEMS. AFTER CHECKING WITH OTHER CHEVROLET/GMC OWNERS AT CAMPGROUNDS, THERE IS A MAJOR SAFETY PROBLEM WITH THE RUBBER VALVE STEMS. I ENDED UP HAVING TO HAVE STEEL VALVE STEMS INSTALLED ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD DUE TO TIRE FAILURE AND REPLACING TWO TIRES THAT ONLY HAD 13,500 MILES ON THEM. THE SERVICE REPAIRMAN EXPLAINED THAT DUE TO HEAT BUILDUP ON THE TIRES, THE RUBBER VALVE STEMS WILL NOT ACCEPT THE HEAT, AND FAIL. I HAD THREE FAILURES IN TWO DAYS DUE TO THIS, WHICH COULD HAVE CAUSED A SERIOUS ACCIDENT AND INJURY
WHEN EXAMINING THE TIRES WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED DRIVER NOTICED THAT THE LEFT AND RIGHT SIDE TIRES HAD TREAD SEPARATION FROM THE INNER AND OUTER SIDE OF THE TIRES. THE FIRST CAP FELL OFF THE TRUCK WITH ONLY 405 MILES, THE OTHERS FELL OFF SOON AFTER. *NM ALL CAPS WERE REPLACED AND SOON FELL OFF AS WELL. ONE CAP FLEW IN FRONT OF AN ON COMING VEHICLE ALMOST CAUSING A COLLISION. *TC THE CONSUMER STATED THE CHROME ON THE RIMS WERE THE PROBLEM. THE CONSUMER TRIED TO GET THE DEALER TO REPLACE THE RIMS, BUT TO NO AVAIL. *JB
