MULTIPLE BRAKE LINE RUPTURE/ FAILURE ON DIFFERENT OCCASIONS. *TR
WHILE DRIVING AT ANY SPEED THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY AND UNEXPECTEDLY ACCELERATED WITHOUT ANY WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE DEALER REPLACED THE ACCELERATOR AND THE CRUISE CABLES. WITHIN 10 MONTHS AFTER THE REPAIR WAS MADE THE PROBLEM RECURRED WHILE DRIVING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER. THE DEALER INFORMED THE CONSUMER THAT THE THROTTLE BODY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. *JB
ACCELERATOR THROTTLE STICKS AND REQUIRES EXCESSIVE FORCE TO REQUIRE THE VEHICLE TO MOVE AND EACH TIME CAUSES VEHICLE SURGE.
WE ARE AFFECTED BY THE RECENT RECALL CONCERNING THE WIRING HARNESS FOR THE FUEL SENDING UNIT AND ARE WAITING FOR THE NEW HARNESS PARTS TO ARRIVE. HOWEVER, ABOUT THE SAME TIME WE BEGAN HAVING TROUBLE WITH THAT, WE ALSO BEGAN TO HAVE PROBLEMS WITH A STICKING ACCELERATOR. AFTER STARTING AND PLACING THE VEHICLE IN GEAR, THE THROTTLE STICKS AND IS OBVIOUSLY A MECHANICAL PROBLEM RATHER THAN A LUBRICATION ISSUE. ONCE THE VEHICLE BEGINS TO ROLL, THE PROBLEM GOES AWAY. WE AHEV LIVED WITH THIS FOR SOME TIME AND HAVE RECENTLY DRIVEN TWO OTHER GMC PRODUCTS (2001 GMC 1500 YUKON XL AND A 2001 CHEVY 1500 PICKUP), THEY TOO HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. I AM QUITE CERTAIN THIS IS GOING TO BECOME A RECALL EVENT DUE TO THE FACT THAT WITH THE STICKING OF THE ACCELERATOR, THE VEHICLE OFTEN LURCHES FORWARD AFTER ENOUGH PRESSURE HAS BEEN EXERTED. THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL STICKS. *AK
WHILE TRAVELING ON THE HIGHWAY WITH THE CRUISE CONTROL SET AT 72MPH, WHICH HAD BEEN ON AND IN PLACE FOR ABOUT 20 MINUTES, I LOOKED DOWN AND SAW THAT THE CAR WAS NOW GOING 85 - EVEN THOUGH I HAD NOT TOUCHED THE ACCELERATOR. I DECIDED THAT I WOULD HIT THE BRAKE A LITTLE TO DEACTIVATE THE CRUISE AND RESET IT. AFTER TOUCHING THE BRAKE, BUT BEFORE I PUT MY FOOT ON THE ACCELERATOR THE CAR WAS BACK UP TO 80 - 85. I PLAYED AROUND WITH THE CRUISE CONTROL SWITCH, HOPING TO STOP THE PROBLEM. NOTHING WORKED IN THAT REGARD, SO I THOUGHT I WOULD JUST GET OFF THE HIGHWAY, TURN THE CAR OFF (WHICH WOULD RESET EVERYTHING), AND START OVER. WHILE TRAVELING TO THE EXIT, WHICH WAS ABOUT TWO MILES, I HAD TO KEEP SIGNIFICANT PRESSURE ON THE BRAKES TO KEEP THE CAR AT AN ACCEPTABLE HIGHWAY SPEED. ONCE I PULLED OFF ONTO THE EXIT RAMP, I REALIZED THAT THE CAR WOULD NOT STOP. I WAS STANDING ON THE BRAKE WITH BOTH FEET TO GET IT SLOWED DOWN TO MAKE THE TURN OFF THE RAMP. SINCE THE CAR WOULD NOT STOP, I TRIED PUTTING THE CAR INTO NEUTRAL TO GET THE PULL OFF THE WHEELS, AT WHICH TIME THE RPMS RED-LINED. I TRIED ALL THE DIFFERENT GEARS, WHICH HAD THE SAME RESULT. I BRACED MYSELF FOR THE JOLT AND THREW THE CAR INTO PARK, NO JOLT - THE RPMS WENT TO RED-LINE. AT THIS POINT I WAS HEADED FOR A GAS STATION AND I TURNED THE CAR OFF. UPON SHUTTING THE CAR OFF, A HUGE PUFF OF BLACK SMOKE CAME OUT FROM UNDER THE HOOD, AND EVERYTHING SMELLED LIKE BURNING RUBBER. A TOW TRUCK TOWED US BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP, WHERE THEY HAVE BEEN OF NO HELP WHAT SO EVER.
ACCELERATOR PEDAL STICKS INTERMITTENTLY. DEALER NOTIFIED, AND INFORMED CONSUMER THAT PROBLEM WAS NOT COVERED UNDER A RECALL AND ANY REPAIRS WOULD BE AT CONSUMER'S COST. FEEL FREE TO PROVIDE ANY FURTHER INFORMATION.*AK
