WHEN I START TO TAKE OFF THE CAR STALLS OUR ON ME FOR LIKE 3 OR 4 SECONDS, IT HAS ALMOST CAUSED ME TO WRECK A LOT OF TIMES AND MY 2013 HONDA PILOT DOES THE SAME THING
WHEN DRIVING OR WHEN CAR STARTS, SEVERAL LIGHTS ON THE DASH COME ON, FDW, BRAKE, STEERING WHEEL, LANE DEPARTURE, ABS... THE WARNING FCW SYSTEM FAILED FLASHES ON MESSAGE CENTER. THIS HAS BEEN DOING FOR YEARS ON AND OFF. HAS GOTTEN WORSE RECENTLY ON MORE THAN NOT LATELY. ALSO THE STEERING WHEEL HAS BEEN LOCKING UP WHEN I START MY CAR.
HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY IS ACCUMULATING MOISTURE CONDENSATION INSIDE OF IT.
MY CAR ABS SYSTEM PROPLEM.
POWER STEERING NOT WORKING AT ALL. GOT INTO MY HONDA TO GO UP THE STREET BUT COULD NOT TURN THE STEERING WHEEL. NOTICE THE POWER STEERING LIGHT ON. TRIED SEVERAL TIME TO CUT THE ENGINE OFF AND RESTART, BUT THE SYSTEM NEVER CAME ON. LIKE RIDING A DEAD MULE!
POWER STEERING STOPPED WORKING OUT OF NOWHERE WITH NO WARNING. EXTREMELY DANGEROUS SITUATION IF DRIVING ON HIGHWAY OR ANYWHERE FOR THAT MATTER. FORTUNATELY THE CAR WAS PARKED WHEN THE POWER STEERING WENT OUT. TOOK CAR TO THE HONDA DEALER AND THEY TOLD ME THAT THE CAR HAD NO RECALLS.
CAR WILL NOT START EVEN WITH THE KEY FOB INSIDE THE CAR. KEY FOB HAS NEW BATTERY, CAR BATTERY IS FINE AS WELL. BRINGING THE FOB CLOSE TO THE START BUTTON OCCASIONALLY STARTS THE CAR. SIMILAR ISSUE WAS RECALLED IN EARLIER MODELS, NO RECALL HAS BEEN ISSUED FOR LATER VINS
ACCORDING TO UBER, THIS VEHICLE [XXX] HAS BEEN SALVAGED OR HAS A REBUILT TITLE. THE DEALER DOES NOT AGREE AND CARFAX REPORT DENIES BEING INVOLVED IN ANY ACCIDENT IN THE PAST. WHILE DRIVING MY STEERING WHEEL SHARPLY TURNS LEFT IF LET GO OF STEERING WHEEL. ACCIDENTLY I NOTICED I HAVE A LETTER FROM HONDA TO BRING THE CAR FOR STEERING GEAR SOFTWARE UPDATE WHERE IT REFERENCES TO TWO CODES THAT IF THEY ARE SET HONDA WILL REPLACE THE STEERING GEAR ASSEMBLY AND EXTENDS WARRANTY TO 13 YEARS AFTER THE PURCHASE. DEALER UPGRADED THE SOFTWARE BUT TEST DRIVING IT AND STILL CAR TURNS LEFT SHARPLY BUT THEIR DIAGNOSTIC IS NOT COMING WITH ANY CODE TO SAY THE WHAT THE ISSUE IS. THE STEERING GEAR APPARENTLY IS ELECTRICALLY DRIVEN. THEIR RECOMMENDATION IS TO REPLACE IT AT MY OWN COST OF $3750. I DIRECTLY CONTACTED THE HONDA CORPORATE AT 800-999-1009 AND DESCRIBED THE SITUATION AND A CASE NUMBER ASSIGNED (#11377924). SEPARATELY DISCUSSING THE ISSUE WITH DEALER MANAGEMENT AND THEY SAID THEY ALSO TALK TO HONDA ENGINEERING TO FIND THE ISSUE AND HOPEFULLY AT NO COST TO ME. UNFORTUNATELY A COUPLE OF DAYS THE CASE HAS BEEN TURNED DOWN AND HONDA CASE MANAGER INDICATED THEY ARE NOT WILLING TO COVER THE COST. I ARGUED THIS IS A SAFETY MATTER AND ACCIDENT CAN HAPPEN. YOUR HONDA DIAGNOSTIC COULD NOT COME UP WITH ANY CODE AND YOU NEED TO FIGURE THIS OUT FOR YOUR OWN SAKE AND HONDA REPUTATION, BUT TO NO AVAIL UNFORTUNATELY. DEALER FINAL OFFER WAS TO GIVE A COUPLE OF HUNDREDS OFF OF REPLACEMENT COST. IF THERE WAS A DIAGNOSTIC AND WOULD BE ABLE TO INDICATE THE CAUSE THAT WOULD HAVE BEEN ACCEPTABLE. CURRENTLY THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE. I HAVE THE HONDA LETTER AND DEALERSHIP DONE THE SOFTWARE UPGRADE BUT CURRENTLY AT THE CAR IS AT THE DEALERSHIP THE DEALERSHIP IS GILLMAN HONDA IN HOUSTON, TX AT HWY 59 AND SAM HOUSTON BELTWAY SOUTH.
AFTER WORKING A LATE SHIFT AT HER JOB, MY WIFE WENT TO DRIVE HOME ONLY TO HAVE THE CAR FAIL TO START. AT 11PM, SHE WAS LEFT STRANDED IN AN EMPTY PARKING LOT UNTIL I COULD REACH HER (45 MINUTES FROM OUR HOME). THE CAR'S STARTER HAD FAILED. A GOOGLE SEARCH SHOWS THAT THIS IS A COMMON AND WELL-DOCUMENTED FLAW WITH THE 2013 ACCORD. CALLED THE LOCAL DEALER AND THEY INSIST THAT THEY HAVE NO REPORTS OF KNOWN STARTER ISSUES. REPAIR COST IS OVER $300 ($200 FOR PART PLUS LABOR COSTS). REACHED OUT TO HONDA CORPORATE, NO RESPONSE.
ON 10/8/20 POWER STEERING WENT OUT WHILE DRIVING ABOUT 20 MPG IN A PARKING LOT. WARNING ICON CAME ON. PROBLEM RESOLVED AFTER TURNING CAR OFF AND RESTARTING. THIS IS THE 2ND TIME IT'S HAS HAPPENED.
MY STEERING STOPPED WORKING WHILE IN A PARKING LOT AND FORTUNATELY NOT WHILE MAKING A TURN. I WAS ABLE TO MUSCLE IT HOME BUT IT WAS FIGHTING ME THE WHOLE TIME AND I HAD TO TAKE VERY WIDE TURNS. THERE WAS A RELATED RECALL FOR A STEERING SOFTWARE UPDATE AND AN EXTENDED WARRANTY FOR A STEERING TORQUE SENSOR. IN THIS CASE IT WAS THE EPS STEERING MODULE WHICH HAD TO BE REPLACED SO IT WAS NOT COVERED. SINCE THERE ARE KNOWN PROBLEMS WITH THE STEERING, I THINK THE EPS MODULE SHOULD BE CONSIDERED IN THE RECALL/EXTENDED WARRANTY BULLETIN SINCE IT IMPACTS THE SAME SAFETY ISSUE AS THE RECALL.
WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY, I HAD THE CRUISE CONTROL ACTIVATED AT APPROXIMATELY 70MPH. MY VEHICLE HAS ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL AND ON TWO SEPARATE OCCASIONS WITHIN ONE DAY, THERE WAS NO ONE IN FRONT OF ME BUT THE CAR STARTED BRAKING HARD. FORTUNATELY, NO ONE WAS BEHIND ME OR THEY PROBABLY WOULD HAVE REAR-ENDED ME AS IT TOOK ME A FEW SECONDS TO CANCEL THE CRUISE CONTROL SINCE IT CAUGHT ME BY SURPRISE. IN AT LEAST ONE OF THE INSTANCES, THERE WAS A LARGE TRACTOR-TRAILER TO THE RIGHT OF ME SO I'M NOT SURE IF IT PERCEIVED IT'S SHADOW AS BEING A VEHICLE. I BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE NEW IN 2013 AND THIS WAS THE FIRST TIME THAT THE ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO BRAKE WHEN NO ONE WAS ACTUALLY IN FRONT OF ME.
STARTER BUTTON FAILS TO START ENGINE,50% OF THE TIME,EVEN WITH BRAKE FULLY DEPRESSED.
INTERMITTENT START BUTTON NOT ENGAGING. NEW BATTERY, NEW BATTERIES IN BOTH FOBS. USUALLY OCCURS AFTER INITIAL START WHEN YOU HAVE DRIVEN, STOPPED AT A DESIGNATION, EVEN JUST TO GAS UP. YOU PRESS START BUTTON, ALL LIGHTS COME ON, YOU TURN IT OF AND USUALLY ON THE THIRD ATTEMPT IT STARTS.
DRIVER AIRBAG DID NOT DEPLOY, HOWEVER, PASSENGER AIRBAG DID DEPLOY. CAR WAS STATIONARY AND HIT FROM BEHIND BY ANOTHER VEHICLE MOVING AT LEAST 35 MPH AND CAR PUSHED INTO ANOTHER STATIONARY VEHICLE IN FRONT. CAR WAS HIT STRAIGHT FROM BEHIND. DRIVER HAS CONCUSSION AND NECK INJURY; PASSENGER DOES NOT, BUT HAD EYE IRRITATION.
POWER STEERING WENT OUT. WARNING LIGHT FOR POWER STEERING CAME ON. TURNED OFF CAR, RESTARTED AND THE SAME WARNING LIGHT CAME ON. TURNED OFF THE CAR AGAIN, RESTARTED AND POWER STEERING WAS THEN WORKING. THIS DID NOT CAUSE AN ACCIDENT.
2-3 MONTHS AGO, AT APPROX 72,000 MILES, THE STARTER WOULD NOT WORK ON OCCASION. INDEPENDENT DIAGNOSTIC SUGGESTED ISSUE WITH ALTERNATOR (REPLACED) AND BATTERY (REPLACED). ISSUE CONTINUED. NOW WE HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO START THE CAR FOR DAYS. A TEST OF THE STARTER SHOWS NOTHING WRONG. THEN FCW SYSTEM FAILED WHILE TRYING TO START THE CAR, CLEARED AND FAILED AGAIN. PUSHING STARTER BUTTON RESULTS IN ALL LIGHTS AND POWER COMING ON, BUT NO START OF THE CAR. WHEN POWER IS OFF AND DOOR OPEN, THERE IS A WARNING SIGNAL SIMILAR TO WHEN LIGHTS ARE LEFT ON, BUT LIGHTS ARE OFF. SEEMS THE STARTER PROBLEM IS COMMON, BUT THE RECOMMENDED FIXES ARE NOT WORKING. REPEATEDLY REPLACING PARTS DOES NOT RESOLVE THE ISSUE. I WAS 150 MILES FROM HOME BEFORE THE LAST START. WHEN THE CAR STARTED AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS, I IMMEDIATELY DROVE HOME. I CAN'T RISK BEING STRANDED.
I HAVE OWNED THIS VEHICLE FOR 4 YEARS WITH NO PROBLEMS. I RECENTLY STARTED USING THE AUTO FEATURE OF THE CLIMATE CONTROL SYSTEM. BOTH TIMES THAT I HAVE USED IT AFTER A COUPLE DAYS OF DRIVING MY POWER STEERING GOES OUT AND THE SPEED OF THE CAR DOESN'T SEEM TO MATTER. I HAVE RESEARCHED THIS ON SOCIAL MEDIA AND CAN'T FIND A SOLUTION TO THIS PROBLEM OTHER THAN TO TAKE IT TO A HONDA DEALERSHIP AND SPEND $2000 TO REPLACE THE COMPONENTS. MY SOLUTION NOW IS NOT TO USE THE AUTO CLIMATE CONTROL SYSTEM. I ONLY HAVE JUST OVER 60000 AND THE PROBLEM IS NOT FROM WEAR AND TEAR. I HAVE CONTACTED THE LOCAL HONDA DEALER AND HONDA CUSTOMER SERVICE WITH NO HELP AS TO SOME ADVICE TO DEAL WITH THIS. LOOKING AT WHAT IS ON SOCIAL MEDIA, I CAN'T BELIEVE THIS HASN'T BEEN RECALLED. THIS HAS REALLY BLOWN MY BUBBLE AS TO THE HIGH REGARD I HAD FOR HONDA VEHICLES OVER THE YEARS.
AFTER MY 100,000 MAINTENANCE IN SEPTEMBER 2020, MY HONDA ACCORD BEGAN HAVING PROBLEMS STARTING. SINCE THEN, I HAVE REPLACED THE BATTERY, THE ALTERNATOR AND STARTER. WHEN I START THE CAR FOR THE FIRST TIME OF THE DAY, IT STARTS. AFTER PARKING THE CAR AFTER I HAVE GONE SOME PLACE, THE CAR WILL NOT START. THEN, I HAVE TO KEEP PRESSING THE ELECTRICAL START BUTTON UNTIL THE CAR STARTS. SO FAR, AT TIMES, IT TAKES ABOUT 5 TO 10 MINUTES TO RE-START THE CAR. I REPORTED THE SITUATION TO HONDA USA ON 02/01/2021 AND THEY SAID THERE ARE NO RECALLS ON THIS VEHICLE SO THEY CANNOT HELP ME. HOWEVER, HONDA USA DID START A CASE FOR ME. MY WIFE AND I DO NOT WANT TO GET STRANDED AFTER DRIVING SOME PLACE. AFTER REVIEWING THE INTERNET, THE ELECTRICAL STARTING SYSTEM IS A MAJOR ISSUE FOR THE 2013 HONDA ACCORD. HONDA USA SAYS YOU CANNOT BELIEVE EVERYTHING ON THE INTERNET. SEE CARCOMPLAINTS.COM. SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE BECAUSE IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE.
when attempting to start car , you can hear grinding noise, car fails to start , have to attempt several times to have the car to start, the procces to start car gets worse by every attempt
The contact owns a 2013 Honda Accord. The contact stated while slowing down to making a left turn, the steering wheel independently turned completely to the left. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The contact took the vehicle to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed with needing the electronic power steering (EPS) gearbox to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired but was pending repairs. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 44,618.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 HONDA ACCORD. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE AT AN INTERSECTION STOP, THE CONTACT DEPRESSED THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL TO PROCEED DRIVING AND AT 6 MPH, ANOTHER VEHICLE CRASHED INTO THE CONTACTS DRIVER SIDE DOOR. NO AIRBAG DEPLOYED. NO INJURIES WERE SUSTAINED. NO POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE OTHER VEHICLE LEFT THE SEEN. THE CONTACT MANAGED TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR A DIAGNOSTIC TESTING AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE AIRBAG SENOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE AT THIS TIME WAS BEING REPAIRED. THE CONTACT MENTIONED NHTSA ACTION NUMBER: EA19001 (AIR BAGS) AS A POSSIBLE SOLUTION TO WHY THE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE DEALER BILL KAY HONDA (1360 LOCKE DR, BOURBONNAIS, IL 609140) WAS CONTACTED AND CONFIRMED NO RECALL WAS PRESENT UNDER THE VIN. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE BUT NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE WAS OFFERED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 121,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
ENGINE IS MAKING GRINDING/SCREECHING NOISE WHEN THE CAR STARTS, EVERY SINGLE TIME. THE MILEAGE ON THE CAR IS JUST 65,000. HONDA DEALERSHIP DOES NOT EVEN KNOW WHAT THE ISSUE IS. NO RECALL YET.
BOUGHT THE HONDA ACCORD IN NOVEMBER, 2012. I AM THE ONLY DRIVER. CAR HAS APPROXIMATELY 14,000 MILES ON IT AND THE SEAT MOTOR HAS FAILED. IT MAKES NOISE. SEAT CANNOT BE PROPERLY ADJUSTED BY MOTOR. OTHERS HAVE COMPLAINED AND SAID SEAT COULD COLLAPSE DOWN AND THAT IS DANGEROUS. THIS IS A COSTLY REPAIR INVOLVING REPLACING ENTIRE FRONT SEAT.
THE POWER STEERING SUDDENLY STOP WORKING ALMOST CAUSING ME TO CRASH MY CAR.
I was driving on an interstate highway when a car ahead of me swerved and appeared to lose control. I had to brake extremely hard to avoid being involved in a collision. I was exiting off the interstate at the next exit. My steering had begun to pull to the left very heavily, but was hard to turn to the left, and when I needed to make a right turn it seemed very loose with no resistance. I was able to get the car home. A few days later when I had someone to follow me to the nearest Honda dealership, I took it in and was told that the steering "box" needed to be replaced and they proceeded to repair the car. With the addition of a new battery the repair totaled $3209.01. I asked how braking the car hard could damage an electrical power steering box. Apparently, they did not know, but mentioned having had to replace other "boxes," but said there was no recall on them.

THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TAKEN TO LOCAL DEALER COOKEVILLE HONDA LOCATED AT 560 NEAL ST, COOKEVILLE, TN 38501, (931) 528-6009, WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED WITH NEEDING "GEAR BOX" TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED AS OF YET. THE MANUFACTURER HAD BEEN INFORMED OF FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 112,000.
WIFE WAS DRIVING AT AROUND 35 MPH WHEN THE POWER STEERING CUT OUT. NO WARNING LIGHTS OR ANYTHING. I DROVE IT NEXT DAY AND NO ISSUES....DAY AFTER THAT I DROVE IT WITH ESSENTIALLY NO POWER STEERING. I BRING IT TO THE DEALER, "ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING MOTOR" THEY TELL ME....THEY REPLACE THAT AND THEN DECIDE THE "CONTROL BOX" FOR IT ALSO NEEDS REPLACED....THEY REPLACE THAT AND THE ISSUE IS STILL NOT RESOLVED. NOW THEY ARE TELLING ME THEY DONT KNOW WHATS WRONG WITH IT AND THEY ARE IN DIRECT CONTACT WITH HONDA (ITS AT A HONDA DEALER.) HE TELLS ME LAST NIGHT TO BE PATIENT "THERES SOMETHING WE NEED TO TRY" I SAID OK KEEP ME UPDATED HAVNT HEARD BACK YET. I SEE THERES LOTS OF ISSUES ON HERE ABOUT THIS HOW IS IT NOT A RECALL? I ALSO FOUND A THREAD FROM 2015 WHERE PEOPLE HAVE PAPERWORK ABOUT A RECALL....BUT CAN FIND NOTHING ABOUT THIS RECALL ON HONDAS WEBSITE. NOT SURE WHAT TO DO BEING THE BILL IS ALREADY OVER 2K AND THEY DONT EVEN KNOW WHAT THEY NEED TO FIX....
THE TRACTION CONTROL, BRAKE, POWER STEERING AND FCW ERROR LIGHTS COME ON WHILE DRIVING. THE MESSAGE STATES "FCW FAILED". THIS HAPPENS WHILE DRIVING, PARKED AND ON ALL ROAD SURFACES. EVEN WHILE PARKED IN THE GARAGE. ALL LIGHTS COME ON AT THE SAME TIME.THE COME ON AS THE VEHICLE GETS TO NORMAL OPERATING TEMPERATURE.
REAR VIEW CAMERA GOES COMPLETELY BLACK ONLY SHOWING GUILDANCE LINES
NO POWER STEERING, WENT OUT WHILE DRIVING. LOW MILEAGE, ALWAYS DID MANU REPAIRS.
I had called up NHTSA earlier also to report the problem but they said - report that to Honda America. Nevertheless, I'm putting it here. My 2013 Honda Accord that had ~36000 miles on it gave me a hard time; as I was driving on the highway with my family; the power steering gave up, it became super heavy and I almost lost control of the vehicle. Luckily, I was able to get off the highway and save my family. Off the highway, I turned off the engine and started it back; and now the steering was back to normal. As I was not far from home, I drove slowly and carefully back home. On reaching home, I called up American Honda and they said - they never heard of such an issue and nothing could be done as the vehicle was out of warranty. The following days, I called up nearby Honda dealers but could not get anything concrete and so took it to one of the dealers who simply changed the Power Steering Electronic Module and the issue was sorted.
MY DAUGHTERS 2013 HONDA ACCORD V6 HAD A STUTTER UPON ACCELERATION. AFTER RESEARCHING THE ISSUE, THE TRANSMISSION WAS FLUSHED 4 TIMES. THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THESE NEW TRANSMISSIONS HONDA PUT IN THE 2013. A FEW DAYS AGO THE SIDE WALL OF THE SIDE MISSION EXPLODED. CHUNKS OF METAL WAS FOUND ON THE GROUND AND IT SMELLED LIKE IT MIGHT CATCH ON FIRE.
POWER STEERING LOCKED UP WHILE DRIVING. WARNING LIGHT CAME ON. PROBLEM REPEATED 3 TO 4 TIMES. STEERING HARD TO TURN IN EITHER DIRECTION. SAFELY DRIVE TO A SIDE. TURN CAR IGNITION OFF FOR A MINUTE THAT RESET STEERING TO NORMAL. AT TRAFFIC SINGNAL WHEN STOPPED AT 0 SPEED CLICKING NOISE FELT AT BREAK PADEL AND AT ACCELERATOR. TAKE IT TO A DELER IN ORLANDO FOUND STEERING RACK GEAR BOX NEED TO REPLACE(52-02) ALSO NEEDS WHEEL ALIGNMENT.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 HONDA ACCORD. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS IN THE RAIN, THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED HOWEVER, VEHICLE WAS HARD TO STOP AND UNSTABLE. THE BRAKE, TPMS, AND VEHICLE STABILITY ASSIST WARNING LIGHTS WERE ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO WALSH HONDA (2056 EISENHOWER PKWY, MACON, GA 31206, (478) 788-4510) WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE REPAIR PARTS WERE ON BACK ORDER. THE CONTACT STATED THE WRONG PART WAS PREVIOUSLY INSTALLED IN THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED HOWEVER, NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE WAS PROVIDED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 132,000. INVALID VIN.
WHEN DRIVING THE POWER STEERING WOULD STOP WORKING COMPLETELY AND VEHICLE OPERATOR COULD BARELY STEER THE VEHICLE. WHEN GOING AROUND A CORNER THE POWER STEERING CUT OUT AND THE DRIVER SKIDDED OFF THE ROAD BUT WAS NOT INJURED. WE HAD TO GET THIS FIXED BECAUSE IT WAS A LIFE THREATENING PROBLEM. IT COST US 2,500 DOLLARS TO GET FIXED. HONDA HAD TO REPLACE THE POWER STEERING UNIT STEERING RACK. THIS IS OBVIOUSLY A MANUFACTURERS DEFECT THAT HONDA SHOULD HAVE PAID FOR BUT WE HAD TO PAY OUT OF OUR OWN POCKETS BECAUSE IT WAS TOO DANGEROUS TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE.
THE ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING (EPS) IS PROGRESSIVELY FAILING JUST LIKE MANY OTHER OWNERS HAVE REPORTED PREVIOUSLY. I FIRST NOTICED THIS WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY 65 TO 75 MILES PER HOUR BUT IT CONTINUES TO GET WORSE REGARDLESS OF SPEED. THE STEERING WANTS TO TURN LEFT ON ITS OWN AND IT IS SLUGGISH WHENEVER I MAKE A TURN EITHER DIRECTION. IN FACT I CAN EVEN FEEL THE SLUGGISH STEERING WHILE THE CAR IS PARKED. I'VE BEEN COMMUTING TO WORK IN MY OLD GMC TRUCK WHILE THIS PROBLEM IS BEING LOOKED AT BY A LOCAL GARAGE. THIS IS CLEARLY A SAFETY HAZZARD AND CONSIDERING HOW MANY PEOPLE HAVE ENCOUNTERED FAILURES WITH THE EPS OVER MULTIPLE MODEL YEARS I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY HONDA HASN'T RECALLED IT. MY LOCAL GARAGE SAID IT REQUIRES THE STEERING RACK REPLACED WHICH IS AN EXPENSIVE PART AND WILL REQUIRE SIGNIFICANT LABOR COST AS WELL. I'VE BEEN A LOYAL HONDA CUSTOMER SINCE 1992 BECAUSE OF THE HISTORICAL QUALITY OF THEIR VEHICLES SO IT'S DISAPPOINTING THEY DON'T WANT TO RECALL THIS. I GUESS IT'S TIME TO LOOK AT OTHER BRANDS OF VEHICLES FOR MY NEXT PURCHASE.
I LOST MY POWER STEERING AT 65MPH DRIVING TO THE COAST ON HIGHWAY 26 IN OREGON. I NEARLY CRASHED MY CAR ON THE CURVE WHEN MY WHEEL WOULD NOT TURN LIKE IT NORMALLY DOES. I HAD TO YANK THE WHEEL TO THE LEFT TO STAY ON THE ROAD. I WAS TERRORIST! I SLOWED MY CAN TO 50MPH THE REST OF THE 45 MILES TO MY BEACH HOUSE IN SEASIDE OREGON. THE STEERING CONTINUED TO GET WORSE AND I HAS HAPPY TO HAVE THE TRAFFIC SLOW DOWN 20 MILES OUT OF SEASIDE TO BUMPER TO BUMPER. I BARELY GOT THE WHEEL TO TURN INTO MY DRIVEWAY AT OUR SEASIDE, OREGON HOME. I STARTED MY 'RESEARCH' TO SEE IF A RECALL HAD BEEN MADE ON MY CAR FOR POWER STEERING BECAUSE I WOULD HAVE DIED HITTING THE WALL OF DIRT AND TREES LEAVING THE HIGHWAY. THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE! I FOUND AN ARTICLE FROM 2014 THAT 374,000 PEOPLE HAD COMPLAINED OF THIS SAME PROBLEM. AND THAT YOU WERE INVESTIGATING BACK IN 2014! MY CAR ONLY HAS ABOUT 42,000 MILES ON IT AND THAT WAS THE TIME OF THEM GOING OUT ACCORDING TO THE ARTICLE. CARS EFFECTED WERE 2013-2017 HONDA ACCORDS EX. MINE IS THAT AND A V6. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT AN UNDISCLOSED SPEED, THE VEHICLE JERKED AND VIBRATED ABNORMALLY WITH THE ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING FAILURE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. ADDITIONALLY, THE VEHICLE WENT INTO LIMP MODE AND DECELERATED TO 40 MPH. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO BE DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. BOB HOWARD HONDA LOCATED AT 13201 N. KELLY AVE, OKLAHOMA CITY, OK 73131, AND THE MANUFACTURER WERE NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 150,000.
I PURCHASED MY 2013 HONDA ACCORD LAST FALL. IT HAD 28,000 MILES ON IT AT PURCHASE AND HAS 36,700 MILES TODAY. TWO WEEKS AFTER I HAD AN OIL CHANGE AND TIRES ROTATED, I BEGAN HAVING ISSUES WITH THE POWER STEERING PULLING LEFT. WHILE TRAVELING AT 50MPH ON A CROWDED CITY HIGHWAY, MY STEERING WHEEL JERKED LEFT AND I COULD HAVE HIT THE CAR IN THE LANE NEXT TO ME. THE PROBLEM PRESENTED AT INTERMITTENT TIMES OCCURRING LATER IN A TRIP. I DID AN EXPERIMENT IN A PARKING LOT; ROLLING FORWARD VERY SLOWLY, I LET GO OF THE STEERING WHEEL. THE STEERING WHEEL SPUN TO THE LEFT AND THE CAR EXECUTED A PERFECT 90-DEGREE LEFT TURN BY ITSELF. THE CAR DID THIS AGAIN TWICE MORE DESPITE TURNING THE ENGINE OFF FOR A PERIOD BEFORE TURNING IT BACK ON. I TOOK IT BACK TO MY LOCAL MECHANIC WHO COULD FIND NO ERROR CODE BUT COULD REPLICATE THE PROBLEM. AFTER RESETTING THE TORQUE SENSOR, IT WAS A BIT BETTER BUT NOT FIXED AS THE CAR STILL WANTS TO TURN LEFT. THE STEERING IS ERRATIC SOMETIMES IT IS HARD TO TURN RIGHT AND SOMETIMES THE STEERING FEELS LOOSE. MY LOCAL MECHANIC SENT ME TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE I PURCHASED THE CAR WHO SUGGESTED I TAKE IT TO A HONDA DEALER. THE DEALER'S SERVICE DEPARTMENT ALSO REPLICATED THE PROBLEM BUT COULD NOT FIX IT BECAUSE THE CAR DID NOT SHOW ANY ERROR CODES AND HONDA WILL ONLY REIMBURSE THEM IF THE CAR SHOWS TWO SPECIFIC ERROR CODES. I FOLLOWED THEIR SUGGESTION TO CALL HONDA; [XXX]. THE REGIONAL CASE MANAGER CALLED ME BACK, DID NOT ASK ME ANY QUESTIONS ABOUT MY PROBLEM BUT RUDELY LAUNCHED INTO A RAPID-FIRE LECTURE ABOUT WHY HONDA WAS NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR FIXING THIS PROBLEM IN MY CAR. BOTH MECHANICS WHO LOOKED AT MY CAR STATE IT NEEDS A NEW POWER STEERING RACK AND THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE.
