This morning noticed the steering felt a little stiff. I started driving down the street and it would randomly pull to the left hard.. all of a sudden it would yank the car left into the other lane. Vehicle has not been to the dealership yet.. just saw this on the news the other evening
When I'm driving, my car will periodically steer itself to the right unless I forcefully hold the steering wheel against the direction it's trying to turn. This issue can also occur when idling at say a red light, or stop sign. This puts mine and others safety at risk because at any point my car could steer itself into another car without input. I have taken the vehicle to the authorized Honda dealer in my city and was told that it was an "alignment" issue. Funny thing is, I went ahead and got an alignment when purchasing new tires a few weeks later and on my way home the issue happened numerous times (with videos to prove it) and continues to happen to this day. My vehicle gave no warning or messages prior to the issue happening. This has been an ongoing issue for close to two years now so I'm very happy to see that the news that this is an issue that the NHTSA is probing. Honda insinuating that this is an alignment issue is an insult to mine, and my families safety.
Driving 40-45 miles per hour when steering felt unstable. Pulled in to parking lot when steering wheel symbol came on, car was very hard to steer at this point. Total loss of power steering. No damage or injury.
The electric steering turns the vehicle without any input from the driver. The car will automatically turn to the left if the wheel is not corrected. This is not a pull left as in a bad wheel alignment. This happens even if no one is in the car and the car is stopped. It makes the car useless to drive because it is so unsafe.
CAR STEERING WHEEL TURNS ALL THE WAY RIGHT ON ITS OWN. YOU HAVE TO USE FORCE IN ORDER TO CORRECT THE CARS PATH OF TRAVEL. STEERING ISSUE OCCURRED IN OUR DRIVEWAY WITH THE ENGINE RUNNING AND WE WERE BACKING. THE ISSUE CONTINUE WHEN WE PLACED THE CAR IN DRIVE.
DIFFERENT DOOR LOCK ACTUATORS HAVE BEEN REPLACED MULTIPLE TIMES SINCE ORIGINAL OWNERSHIP IN 2012. POWER LOCK SUDDENLY DOES NOT ACTUATE WITH REMOTE NOR DRIVER SIDE CONTROL. ONLY PHYSICAL ACTUATION OF LOCK ENGAGES OR DISENGAGES LOCK
Intermittent activation of vehicle stability assist, electrical power steering, and tire pressure monitoring system lights. Diagnosed as yaw rate sensor failure requiring replacement of anti-lock braking system modulator.
YESTERDAY MORNING, (5-10-21), I WAS LEAVING FOR WORK IN MY ACCORD. THERE WAS SUDDENLY NO STEERING AND I WAS UNABLE TO MAKE THE RIGHT TURN OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY. HAD THIS HAPPENED ON A WINDING ROAD I'D BE A 3500 LB. BASE JUMPER WITH NO PARACHUTE. TAKING IT TO A DEALER, TERRIFIED TO DRIVE THE CAR AFTER REPAIRS.
ON TUESDAY, MAY 3, 2021, MY CAR SUDDENLY VERED TO THE LEFT AND I HAD TURN MY STEERING WHEEL EXCESSIVLEY (ABOUT 90 DEGREES) TO GET MY CAR BACK INTO MY LANE. IF THERE WOULD HAVE BEEN A CAR NEXT TO I WOULD HAVE HIT IT SOMEONE OR SOMETHING. I SUDDENLY WAS HEARING A CRACKLING NOISE FROM MY STEERING COLUMN. I DROVE MY CAR A COUPLE OF MORE TIMES BEFORE I TOOK IT TO ROUSH HONDA IN WESTERVILLE ON 5/12/2021. WHEN I TOOK MY CARI EXPLAINED THE PREVIOUS SITUATION AND TOLD THE GENTLEMAN THAT THE NOISE IN THE STEERING COLUMN WAS GETTING LOUDER AND LOUDER AND HE SAID I WAS GETTING CHARGED $99 TO FIND OUT WHAT THE NOISE IS ABOUT AND WHAT WAS GOING ON. ON 5/13/2021, THE SERVICE DEPART. CALLED TO LET ME KNOW THAT IT WAS AN ALIGNMENT ISSUE AND SAID NOTHING ABOUT THE NOISE. I ASKED THEM WHAT ABOUT THE NOISE AND SHE SAID THERE WAS NOTHING ON THE SERVICE WRITE UP ABOUT A NOISE. SO I ASKED FOR A MANAGER. WHEN THE MANAGER CALLED, MAX WAGNER, HE TRIED TO TELL ME THAT THE NOISE WAS COMING FROM THE TIRE AND AXLE AND NOT THE STEERING COLUMN. YOU CAN CLEARELY HEAR THE NOISE COMING FROM THE INSIDE OF THE CAR AND STEERING COLUMN. I HAVE A LIFETIME ALIGNMENT WITH FIRESTONE AND TAKE MY CAR ON A REGULAR AND RESPONSIBLE BASIS. HONDA IS CLEARLY GIVING ME A RUN AROUND AND IS AVOIDING TO FIX THE ISSUE THAT IS CLEARLY A PART MANUFACTURING DEFECT. CAN THIS BE INVESTIGATED BY YOUR AGENCY?
The contact's daughter owns a 2013 Honda Accord. The contact stated her daughter was attempting to start the vehicle however, it was approximately five minutes before the vehicle started. The contact stated her daughter was not aware if there were any warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. A dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 117,000.
The contact owns a 2013 Honda Accord. The contact stated that several attempts were needed to start the vehicle. The failure occurred intermittently at first; however, the failure was occurring more often. The contact stated that the failure was related to Manufacturer Communication Number: A16-002 (Electrical System). The contact had not taken the vehicle to be diagnosed. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 61,000.
ON THREE OCCASIONS OVER THE PAST TWO YEARS THE 2013 HONDA ACCORD 2.4L SEDAN WOULD NOT START. THE FIRST TIME AAA CHANGED THE BATTERY. THE NEXT TIME AAA DETERMINED THAT THE BATTERY WAS FINE BUT THE CAR REACTED WITH A FAST CLICKING SOUND. PRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL WOULD NOT WORK AND THE GEAR SHIFT WOULD NOT MOVE OUT OF PARK. THE THIRD TIME WE LEFT THE CAR FOR ABOUT 15 MINUTES AND THEN IT STARTED. EACH TIME THE CAR WAS LEFT IN THE ON POSITION, IN ONE CASE CHARGING A CELLPHONE, IN ANOTHER CASE LISTENING TO THE RADIO. IN THE PAST I HAVE NOTICED THE SMART ENTRY SYSTEM LIGHT COME ON AND OFF BUT WAS TOLD IN ONE CASE (BY A HONDA SERVICE REP!) THAT THEY COULD NOT DETECT A PROBLEM AND NOI CODE WAS REGISTERED. THEY SAID I WOULD HAVE TO BRING IT IN WHEN THE LIGHT WAS ON BUT IT IS INTERMITTENT. I WAS WONDERING IF THERE COULD BE INTERFERENCE FROM MY OTHER CAR'S REMOTE KEY OR MY CELL PHONE SO I HAVE BEEN MOVING THOSE TO THE BACK OF THE ACCORD. I HAVE ATTACHED SCREEN SHOTS FROM THE WARNING LIGHT AND TWO WEBSITES/BLOGS WITH MANY PEOPLE WHO HAVE PROBLEMS THAT MAY BE RELEVANT. HERE ARE THE LINKS TO THOSE SITES: HTTP://WWW.CONTINENTALHONDA.COM/BLOG/HONDA-DASHBOARD-WARNING-LIGHTS-EXPLAINED/ HTTPS://WWW.DRIVEACCORD.NET/THREADS/SMART-ENTRY-SYSTEM-LIGHT-IS-ON.125729/PAGE-3 HTTPS://WWW.CARGURUS.COM/CARS/DISCUSSION-T43926_DS666390 THANK YOU
MY CAR IS FACING NO STARTING ISSUES SEVERAL TIMES A YEAR EVEN THOUGH I HAVE DONE EVERY SINGLE MAINTAINANCE ON TIME AT THE DEALERSHIP. THIS TIME THE DEALER TOLD ME IT IS A BULLETIN 19-034 AND NEED A SOFTWARE UPDATE. THIS COULD BE VERY DANGEROUS IF IT HAPPENED ON THE HIGHWAY. FORTUNATELY, IT HAPPENED IN A SMALL PARK AND I WAS DRIVING VERY SLOW. THERE IS ALWAYS SOME STARTING ISSUES OF MY HONDA ACCORD SINCE I BOUGHT IT. I WENT TO THE DEALERSHIP SEVERAL TIMES EVERY YEAR. SOMETIMES THE DEALER ASK ME TO CHANGE BATTERY AND SOMETIMES THE DEALER AKSED ME TO CHANGE ALL KINDS OF FLUIDS. I HAVE CHANGED EVERY SINGLE FLUIDS, PCV VALVE, BRAKE PADS AND ROLLTERS IN THE CAR ALMOST YEARLY AND THE NO START ISSUE IS STILL HAPPENING. I FEEL IT TAKES ME TOO MUCH TIME AND COST ME SEVERAL THOUSAND OF DOLLARS EVERY YEAR IS TOO MUCH. ALSO, IF THE TURNOFF HAPPEND ON THE HIGHWAY IT IS VERY DANGEROUS. I AM HESITATE TO TAKE MY KIDS IN THE CAR SINCE THE PROBLEM. VERY ANNOYING. ALSO, THE SOFTWARE PROBLEM SHOULD BE SOLVED BY THE MANUFACTURER FREE BUT THEY ARE CHARGING ME EVERY SINGLE TIME.
WATER PUMP SEIZED. DRIVE BELT SHREDDED.
I HAVE CHANGED MY CARS BATTERY YEARLY SINCE 2016. IT ALWAYS HAVE A STARTING ISSUE AFTER SEVERAL MONTHS. I HAVE CHANGED 4 BATTERIES AND THE ISSUE IS STILL COMING EVERY YEAR. LAST TIME WAS HAPPENED IN A PARK WHEN I WAS DRIVING MY KIDS. FORTUNATELY, MY SPEED WAS ONLY 20 MPH AND THE CAR TURNED OFF AND CANNOT START. IF THIS HAPPENED ON THE HIGHWAY, IT WOULD BE VERY DANGEROUS. I THINK THE BATTERY OF ACCORD HAS SOME PROBLEMS AS I ALWAYS CHANGE THE ORIGINAL BATTERY FROM THE DEALER. MY OTHER CARS ONLY NEED TO CHANGE BATTERY AFTER 4 TO 5 YEARS OF USE BUT MY ACCORD NEED TO CHANGE A NEW BATTERY EVERY YEAR. THERE MUST BE SOME ISSUES OF THE CAR IT SELF. IF THIS HAPPENED WHEN I WAS ON THE HIGHWAY, IT WOULD BE REALLY DANGEROUS.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 HONDA ACCORD. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING AT SLOW SPEEDS, THE STEERING WHEEL WENT TO THE RIGHT AND WAS DIFFICULT TO TURN. THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED HOWEVER, WAS SLOW TO RESPOND. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO HONDA OF BRIDGEWATER (1201 US-22, BRIDGEWATER TOWNSHIP, NJ 08807 (908) 722-5566) TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE STEERING NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 64,000. INVALID VIN.
MY CAR'S STEERING WHEEL RANDOMLY JERKS LIKE IT'S GOING TO STEER OUT OF CONTROL, WHAT I DO IS GRIP THE WHEEL TIGHTLY AND I'M ABLE TO GAIN CONTROL. IT'S NOT OFTEN BUT IT'S HAPPENED A FEW TIMES WITHIN THE PAST 2 MONTHS TO DRAW CONCERN. IT'S ALWAYS WHILE I'M DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY.
MY CAR STEERS TO THE RIGHT WITH NO WARNING WHILE DRIVEN. IF I LET GO OF WHEEL, IT SUDDENLY DRIFT RIGHT. IT HAPPENS ON LOCAL ROAD OR HIGHWAY. I HAD ALIGNMENT DONE, TIRE ROTATION, THAT DID NOT SOLVE THE ISSUE. THE DRIFT COMES AND GOES. THE AUTO DEALER SAYS POWER STEERING IS NOT COVERED UNDER POWER TRAIN WARRANTY. THE TECH AT THE DEALER BELIEVE IT'S A SENSOR ISSUE AND NOT SAFE TO DRIVE AS IS. EVEN AFTER SHUT OFF THE CAR, THE WHEEL TURNS ITSELF TO THE RIGHT.
ENGINE CONTINUES TO BURN OIL INTERNALLY. HONDA DEALER TELLS ME THAT IS IMPOSSIBLE BUT ACURA HAD A RECALL FOR THE SAME ISSUE. OIL FAN HUMMING, ENGINE OVERHEATING. PARKED BEFORE ENGINE LOCKED UP.
EXCESS VIBRATION AND OIL CONSUMPTION DUE TO VCM OPERATION. VCM ALSO MAKES THE TRANSMISSION SEARCH FOR GEARS WHILE DRIVING AT A STEADY SPEED
Car is just randoming not starting, having to get it jumped to start it & pistons are knocking!
Car pulls to the right, actually will jerk the steering wheel out of your hands. Only at low speeds and very intermittent. Dealership said I must have hit something and I didn’t. Cost to fix is more than the vehicle is worth. I believe this is a manufacturing defect.
STEERING WHEEL TURNS TO RIGHT WHEN CAR IS STARTED...CAR STEERING ON ITS OWN...VERY DANGEROUS!
Steering began pulling hard to the left within a relatively short space of time, 2-3 days. After checking the tire pressure on all four tires and discovering no variants, we knew there was a serious problem! Our safety and that of others was at risk! The problem was confirmed when the local Honda dealer said they could not perform an alignment on our vehicle until the steering system was fixed. Then, in order to make the vehicle safe to drive, the dealer said our only option was to replace the rack and pinion/power steering system in order to make it possible to align the wheels on the car. The dealer replaced said components on April 6, 2021. The component in question was not inspected by manufacturer, police or insurance representatives. However, it was inspected by our dealership who replaced the faulty steering system. There was no warning of any type before the steering began pulling to the left! We were surprised that this should happen with a Honda and especially one with less than 100,000 miles.
ALL THE LIGHTS ARE BASICALLY ON THE 2013 HONDA ACCORD EX WHICH INCLUDES THE BRAKE, ABS, TPS. I NOTICED THAT EVEN WHEN I HAVE NOT PRESSED THE BRAKES, THE BRAKES ARE APPLIED BY THE CAR. EXPECIALLY IN LOW/IDLE SPEEDS. THIS RESULTS IN ME HABVING TO PRESS THE GAS PEDAL AND RESULTS IN A ROUGH RIDE. I TOOK THE CAR INTO THE DEALER TODAY 4/1/2021. DEALER STATES THE CAR HAS A FAULTY VSA MODULATOR AND QUOTED $1400 FOR THE PART (57110-T2FA17) AND $510 FOR THE LABOR. ALSO SAID THE THEY NEED TO BLEED THE BRAKE FLUID AND REPLACE IT. AND THIS SAME PART WAS REPLACED BACK ON 11/5/2014. THIS CAR IS NOT PART OF ANY ACTIVE RECALL, BUT THE VSA MODULATOR HAS NOW FAILED TWICE. THE CAR WAS PURCHASED BRAND NEW 4/20/2013. SEARCHING ONLINE SHOWS HONDA RECALLED SEVERAL OTHER MODELS AND YEARS FOR THE VSA MODULATOR. I HAVE ATTACHED SOME OF OTHER RECALLS THAT AFFECTED THE VSA MODULATOR
I WAS MAKING A RIGHT HAND TURN INTO A PARKING LOT AND STEERING WHEEL BEGAN SPINNING HARD TO THE LEFT. I WAS UNABLE TO CONTROL THE STEERING. I TOOK THE CAR TO MY HONDA DEALER AND THEY TOLD ME THERE WAS COMPLETE FAILURE OF THE STEERING COLUMN WHICH HAD TO BE REPLACED.
2013 Honda Accord Sport steering pulling to the right. Not pulling very hard, but am afraid condition will worsen. I understand that you are looking into numerous complaints concerning problems with electric power steering on this model year Honda Accord. I have had tires rotated, suspension and components checked for wear, alignment checked with no problems found. Hope I don't have any severe steering problems that some Accord owners have reported. My issue started about two months ago, about the same time I noticed a low whistling sound coming from the steering column. Don't know if that is related to the steering issue but unusual to have the noise happen at the same time. Thanks.
My EPS (electric power steering light) will randomly turn on making my vehicle incredibly difficult to return. I have taken it into a Honda dealership and have been informed that it is due to faulty EPS unit that need to be replaced. This has put my safety and the safety of others at risk because it makes my vehicle incredibly hard to turn and is unpredictable. Sometimes my EPS works and sometimes it doesn't. I was able to show this issue to a dealership representative at Car Pros Honda El Monte who witness the EPS light on and was unable to turn the steering wheel. This issue first appeared in April 2021 and has been gradually getting worse until now. I have taken this car into the dealership 3 times already, and was finally told about the faulty EPS unit on the third trip.
The steering began pulling to the left. The alignment was examined and adjusted without fixing the problem. I lifted the front of the vehicle off the ground, started the engine and the steering turned slowly by itself to the full left stop. Took the vehicle to the Honda dealer for repair. They reset the error codes and examined everything. Upon leaving the dealer repair depot the steering pulled very hard to the left. I returned and complained. The manager helped out and contacted Honda Factory support. A 4 wheel alignment was performed and adjusted to factory specs. The electronic steering system was fully reset and reprogrammed. This seemed to fix the problem. About 1 month later the steering system began to act erratically and continues to do so. Sometimes when turning a corner the steering system pulls in the direction of the turn, right or left. Sometimes it acts normally. All oddities seem to related to accelleration and braking. When driving in a straight line there is no deviation left or right however it is always harder to turn the wheel left than right.
BASICALLY, MY COMPLAINT IS THAT I DON'T FEEL THAT MY STARTER SHOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED AT 36,000 MILES... I HAVE ONLY HAD THE CAR FOR 9 MONTHS.. I ALSO HAD TO REPLACE THE FRONT PADS AND ROTORS TOO.. BASICALLY TOTALLING $640. IN PARTS AND 360. IN LABOR.. I BOUGHT IT DIRECTLY FROM THE DEALERSHIP.. IT HAS THE PUSH BUTTON START AND IT PUT OUT A 'GRINDING SOUND' WHEN I WENT TO START IT, THEN THE FRONT BAKES STARTED SQUEAKING ALSO..
HONDA ACCORD SPORT 2013 I4 CVT. CV AXLES ARE CORRODED DUE TO FAILING PAINT FINISH. THIS CORROSION GETS INSIDE THE RUBBER RESONATOR(DONUT LOOKING PIECE), AFFECTING THE INTEGRITY OF THE AXLE. HONDA HAS RECALLED THESE AXLES IN OTHER STATES, BUT NOT IN UTAH. I AM THE ORIGINAL OWNER OF THE CAR AND HAVE BEEN DENIED BY HONDA ON REPLACING AXLES PER THE RECALL.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2013 HONDA ACCORD. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HER DAUGHTER INFORMED HER THAT WHILE DRIVING 20 MPH, SHE LOSS CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND BLACKED OUT. AFTER REGAINING CONSCIOUSNESS, HER DAUGHTER NOTICED THAT SHE HAD STRUCK TWO VEHICLES THAT WERE PARKED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HER DAUGHTER PICKED HER UP AND UPON TAKING HER BACK TO THE VEHICLE, SHE NOTICED THAT THE FRONT AXLE HAD DETACHED FROM THE VEHICLE. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. NO INJURIES WERE SUSTAINED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A TOW LOT AND DEEMED A TOTAL LOSS BY THE INSURANCE COMPANY. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED BY A DEALER OR AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 120,000.
2013 HONDA ACCORD ACCORD WITH 81K MILES IS BURNING OIL ABOUT 1QUART 1000 MILES.
MY 2013 ACCORD SPORT SUDDENLY VEERED LEFT ON IT'S OWN AND I HIT A TELEPHONE POLE BREAKING IT IN HALF. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE CAR IS A TOTAL LOSS AND I AM INJURED. I WAS DRIVING IN A STRAIGHT LINE WHEN THIS HAPPENED.
2013 HONDA ACCORD V6EXL STARTER MAKES GRINDING NOISE WHEN BEING STARTED. SOMETIMES TAKES MULTIPLE TRYS TO FINALLY TURN OVER AND START ENGINE. BROUGHT TO DEALERSHIP BUT THEY SAID THEY COULD NOT REPLICATE THE ISSUE. ONLY OFFERED TO REPLACE ENTIRE STARTER SYSTEM FOR $900.
LOST POWER STEERING AND ALMOST LOST CONTROL OF CAR !!
My 2013 Honda Accord randomly started turning to the right on its own. Until this day the car continues to experience this issue on and off with no pattern. The dealership could not replicate the issue, stated noticed steering wheel hard, cleared both DTC’s and performed all sensor learn, found 1 EPS updated and performed update but steering still stiff. Raised car and inspected power steering rack but nothing abnormal, hard reset performed but still did not fix the issue After troubleshooting code found service bulletin to replace fuse box assembly. I declined fuse box assembly replacement as the Honda mechanic could not guarantee this would fix the issue.
The contact's daughter owns a 2013 Honda Accord. The contact stated that while his daughter was driving at unknown speeds she veered off the road, to the right for unknown reasons and crashed into a tree. The driver received medical attention however, succumbed to her injuries at the scene. There was no report of fire or air bag deployment. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to an independent lot. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was unknown.
THIS IS TO INFORM YOU I MADE AN APPOINTMENT FOR 2/20/2021 WITH MY LOCAL HONDA DEALERSHIP ONE WEEK PRIOR BASED ON THE RECALL LETTER RECEIVED FROM YOUR OFFICE. I WAS WAS PHYSICALLY THERE, I WAS TOLD BY ONE OF THE ADVISOR THAT THEY RAN OUT OF PARTS. NO FUTURE APPOINTMENT WERE MADE BY THE DEALERSHIP. NOT SURE WHAT IS MEANS BUT THIS WAS WRITTEN UNDER COMMENTS :DA212407, FROM THE "COMPLIMENTARY MULTI POINT INSPECTION" FORM. PERSONAL ARRANGEMENTS WERE MADE TO LEAVE MY CAR BASED ON MY CONVENIENCE; THE ROAD CONDITIONS WERE VERY ICY AND TREACHEROUS TO GET THERE; MY RIDE BACK HOME WAS WAITING IN THE PARKING LOT. AFTER GOING THROUGH THE PROCESS OF CHECKING IN MY CAR AND LEAVING THE DEALERSHIP, THEN I RECEIVED A PHONE CALL FROM ONE OF THE EMPLOYEES (YVONNE) THEY COULD NOT ACCOMMODATE ME. IN ADDITION, I CALLED YOUR VEHICLE SAFETY HOTLINE YESTERDAY 2//02/20/2021 TO REPORT THIS BUT YOUR OFFICE WAS CLOSED. I AM VERY DISAPPOINTED IN THE CUSTOMER SERVICE I EXPERIENCED. THANK YOU FOR YOUR ANTICIPATED COOPERATION WITH THIS MATTER.
STEERING RACK/ PINION : CARS STEERING WHEEL JUST RANDOMLY TURNING ON ITS OWN TO THE LEFT AND BECOME HARD TO STEER WHEN DRIVING ON HIGHWAY AT HIGHER SPEED
I HAVE NOT OWNED THE CAR IN QUESTION SINCE MAY 2016 AFTER THIS CAR WAS TOTALED IN AN ACCIDENT AND I KEEP GETTING CALLS FROM HONDA OF PASADENA (PASADENA, CA). THE PROCESS ON THE NHTSA WEBSITE SAYS THAT THE MANUFACTURER CONTACTS CAR OWNERS TO NOTIFY THEM OF SAFETY RECALLS CORRECT? ARE DEALERS ALLOWED TO USE MY PERSONAL PHONE NUMBER/DATA TO SOLICIT ME FOR THESE REPAIRS MULTIPLE TIMES LIKE THIS? I MEAN, THE NOTIFICATION FROM THE MANUFACTURER APPEARS TO BE ENOUGH; THIS WILL ALLOW THE CUSTOMER TO CHOOSE THE DEALERSHIP ON THEIR OWN. THE PRACTICE OF THE DEALERSHIP REACHING OUT TO ME IS MORE LIKE AN UNETHICAL PRACTICE TO BAIT CUSTOMERS INTO GETTING REPAIR MONEY FROM THE MANUFACTURER. THIS IS IN FACT BAITING. PLEASE HELP AND RESPOND AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.
WHEN I PUSH THE START BUTTON IT DOESN'T ALWAYS START - GET A GRINDING NOISE.
MY CHMSL LIGHTS WERE NOT WORKING AFTER 108,220 MILES. I TOOK THE CAR TO HONDA DEALER AND THEY QUOTED $258.99 FOR PARTS AND $500.00 FOR LABOR TO REPLACE THE HIGH MOUNT 3RD BRAKE LIGHT. I TOOK IT TO A PRIVATE MECHANIC TO GET THE CAR FIXED WHO TOLD ME THAT FACTORY-INSTALLED LED CHMSL HAD ITS QUICK CONNECTOR WITHOUT A STOP TAB THEREFORE THE WIRE WAS PULLED OUT FROM THE QUICK CONNECTOR. I HAD TO PAY $250.00 FOR TOTAL REPAIRS TO REPLACE LED CHMSL. THE MECHANIC ALSO MENTIONED TO ME THAT THE MANUFACTURER INSTALLED THE PART WHICH WAS DEFECTIVE INTENTIONALLY AS IT HAD SOME PERMANENT MARKINGS ON THE LED FIXTURE. HE ALSO MENTIONED THAT THE LED FIXTURE WAS FUNCTIONAL EXCEPT FOR THE DEFECTIVE LOCKING TAB FOR THE CONNECTOR. THE PROBLEM APPEARS TO BE QUALITY CONTROL AND MANUFACTURING DEFECT.
My Honda Accord suddenly started having steering issues. One day I was driving and my wheel suddenly just jerked to the right causing me to almost loose control of the vehicle. As I continued to drive the vehicle over the next month or two the issue became more frequent constantly jerking as I'm driving becoming hard to keep straight and wanting to veer off to the right. Eventually, one day the wheel just completely locked. I brought the car to the dealership to be repaired. After receiving the vehicle back and the repairs supposedly being done the steering continues to suddenly jerk right and the wheel tightens from time to time. These issues caused me to almost loose control of the vehicle several times. A few months after I'd starting experiencing these issues I read that a probe had been opened about similar issues.
During the winter i started having issues with my car the bad battery sensor drained my battery had to buy a new one. Then i find out from Honda that i have a recall on that battery sensor still was having issues with the car going on. Finally got the battery sensor changed and now the starter is not working. This sensor is becoming costly for me first a battery and now a starter. This is ridiculous that i have to keep dishing out money for problems with my car that has to due with a faulty sensor that was recalled.
The steering turns left. As soon as you start you car, with hands off the steering wheel the entire steering system turns left. Opened 2 cases with Honda and NO RESPONSE. Case # 11941086 and 12222896. Hillside Honda informs us that the codes don't show up so the only thing they can do is replace the steering gearbox and alignment for a customer cost of $3592 + tax. This was a sudden onset incident, no accident to the car. It is a safety hazard and Honda refuses to do anything about it.
The contact's son owns a 2013 Honda Accord. The contact stated that upon depression of the accelerator pedal, the vehicle would intermittently shake without warning. The contact had taken the vehicle to a dealer on multiple occasions; however, the failure persisted. Upon investigation, the contact discovered NHTSA Campaign Number: 20V769000 (Power Train) which she linked to the failure. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was unknown. THE CONSUMER STATED TWO TIRES WERE THE CAUSE OF THE VIBRATIONS. TWO NEW TIRES WERE PURCHASED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED.
MY CAR SUDDENLY STARTING BEING VERY DIFFICULT TO STEER TO THE RIGHT AND WHEN TRYING TO STEER TO THE LEFT IT SPINS. THIS OCCURS WHILE DRIVING. I LIVE IN THE MOUNTAINS SO IT IS TERRIFYING TO THINK OF THE POTENTIAL SHOULD I BE UNABLE TO CONTROL THE CAR AND RUN OFF THE ROAD. THE CAR IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE AND I FEAR FOR MY SAFETY SO I TOOK IT TO THE HONDA DEALERSHIP IN BOONE, NC. THIS LEAVES ME WITHOUT A CAR TO DRIVE AND NO ACCESS TO ALTERNATIVE TRANSPORTATION IN MY SMALL RURAL MOUNTAIN COMMUNITY. THE DEALERSHIP WAS UNABLE TO PULL A DIAGNOSTIC CODE FROM THE COMPUTER. THEY USED A DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLESHOOTING TREE AND FOUND IT TO BE AN ISSUE WITH THE POWER STEERING RACK AND THE REPAIR WOULD BE NEARLY $3K. I HAVE BEEN A LOYAL HONDA CUSTOMER FOR 25 YEARS AND EXPECT BETTER. THIS APPEARS TO BE A WIDESPREAD ISSUE THAT ISN'T BEING ADDRESSED BY THE COMPANY. THERE ARE HUNDREDS OF REPORTS THAT I HAVE SEEN ONLINE WITH THIS SAME ISSUE SO IT IS CLEARLY A MANUFACTURING FLAW THAT NEEDS TO BE REMEDIED BY HONDA. I AM AN ELDERLY WIDOW AND NEED RELIABLE TRANSPORTATION. I DO NOT HAVE THE FUNDS TO REPAIR THIS CAR AND NEED ASSISTANCE FROM HONDA AND THE NHTSA TO HELP GET THIS RESOLVED. THANK YOU FOR YOUR ASSISTANCE AND URGENT ATTENTION TO THIS MATTER FOR ME AND THE MANY MANY MANY OTHERS FACING THIS SAME FAILURE IN THE 2013 ACCORD. PLEASE DO THE RIGHT THING. PEOPLE'S SAFETY SHOULD BE FOREMOST FOR ANY COMPANY LIKE HONDA.
WHILE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY THE ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING WENT OUT MAKING THE CAR EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO STEER. I WAS ABLE TO MUSCLE THE STEERING WITH BRUTE FORCE AND GET THE CAR HOME. AFTER SITTING IN MY DRIVEWAY FOR A FEW HOURS THE PROBLEM IMPROVED (THE POWER ASSIST WAS BACK) BUT THE CAR MAKES SCRAPING SOUND WHEN THE WHEELS ARE TURNING.
In January 2021 we took in my 2013 Honda Accord into my local Honda dealership because the steering wheel would jolt to the left while driving. It was very unsafe. My husband found information about an extended warranty having to do with the steering. Honda said that the car was not registering the specific code to fix it under the extended warranty so we would have to pay out of pocket which was over $3,000. We had read some comments from people experiencing the same issue but their Honda's fixed the issue. Ours would not. We took it back to our local Honda again and I called the corporation, again Honda said they can only fix this safety issue with payment. We then took the vehicle to a reputable mechanic in town and they too agreed that this issue should be covered by Honda. Our Mechanic outreached to our local Honda AGAIN and a Honda 30miles away and both said they cannot do anything without payment. We were shocked by how Honda clearly knew about the safety issue and concern but still would not do anything without payment and clearly the extended warranty impacted the steering. We had no choice but to pay for the repairs. The day we got the car back from being repaired ($3,772.35 later) we see that NHTSA opened an investigation for a safety recall on the steering! I will be contacting Honda for a full refund.
