THE IGNITION SWITCH DIDN'T WORK WELL ONLY A FEW YEARS AFTER I PURCHASE THE NEW CAR (2013 HONDA ACCORD). THE FACTORY MUST HAVE A RECALL!
AT 61XXX MILES THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO NO LONGER START RELIABLY. SOMETIMES I WOULD PUSH THE START BUTTON AND IT WOULD START NORMALLY AND SOMETIMES I WOULD JUST HEAR A SINGLE CLICK BUT THE ENGINE WOULD NOT TURN OVER. WHEN THE ENGINE WOULD NOT START IT WOULD SOMETIMES START IF YOU RETRIED IT, BUT USUALLY IT WOULD ONLY RESTART AFTER MULTIPLE PUSHES OF THE START BUTTON. SOME DAYS I COULD NOT START IT AFTER 20 OR MORE ATTEMPTS. AFTER ABOUT A WEEK OF THIS WHEN I FINALLY GOT IT STARTED I DROVE IT TO MY LOCAL MECHANIC'S SHOP AND LEFT IT FOR THEM TO DEAL WITH. THEY DIAGNOSED IT AS A BAD STARTER, REPLACED THE STARTER AND NOW IT WORKS OK. I HAD TESTED THE CAR BATTERY AND IT HAD 13.6 VOLTS. I TESTED THE KEY FOB BATTERIES AND THEY HAD WELL OVER THEIR ADVERTISED 3V . I READ THE HONDA ACCORD FORUMS AND FOUND MANY, MANY PEOPLE WITH THE SAME SYMPTOMS. I BELIEVE THIS IS THE 6TH HONDA I HAVE OWNED AND NEVER REPLACED A STARTER ON ANY OF THEM - 3 OR 4 OF THEM HAVE GONE NEARLY 200K MILES WITH NO STARTER PROBLEM. JUDGING BY THE NUMBER OF PEOPLE WHO HAVE REPORTED BAD STARTERS IN THE FIRST 75000 MILES I WOULD HAVE TO SAY HONDA, WAS EITHER TRYING TO SAVE MONEY BY USING CHEAP STARTERS OR HAS A BAD SUPPLIER FOR THEIR STARTERS. WHATEVER IT IS, THEY ARE PUTTING THEIR CUSTOMERS IND SOME VERY INCONVENIENT AND POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS SITUATIONS.
I HAVE BEEN STRANDED ABOUT 15 TIMES DUE TO MY CAR NOT STARTING AND HAVING SEVERAL WARNING LIGHTS ON. I BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE NEW AND HAVE COMPLETED ALL THE NECESSARY SCHEDULED MAINTENANCE. I SHOULD NOT BE EXPERIENCING THIS. AFTER DOING SOME RESEARCH, SEVERAL HONDA OWNERS ARE EXPERIENCING THUS SAME ISSUE. THIS PROBLEM IS STARTING TO DIMINISH MY QUALITY OF LIFE. I HAVE TO WORK FOR A LIVING AND NOT HAVING A RELIABLE VEHICLE HAS CAUSED ME TO BE LATE OR MISS WORK. HONDA IS SUPPOSED TO BE ONE OF THE RELIABLE VEHICLES BUT THAT IS NOT THE CASE FOR ME. I TRULY BELIEVE THIS CAR IS A LEMON. WHEN THIS HAS HAPPENED, MY VEHICLE WAS OFF AND STATIONARY. I WANT TO STRESS THAT THIS HAS HAPPENED 15 TIMES AND I WISH I HAD STUMBLED ON THIS SITE THE FIRST TIME BECAUSE I WOULD HAVE LOGGED EACH INCIDENT. IT DOES NOT FEEL GOOD TO BE STRANDED WITH A BROKEN VEHICLE.
WHEN ATTEMPTING TO START ENGINE OF PARKED VEHICLE, NOTHING HAPPENED WHEN KEY WAS TURNED. TOOK SEVERAL ATTEMPTS TO START CAR EACH TIME. STARTER HAD FAILED AND WAS REPLACED.
BOUGHT THIS CAR AT THE END OF ITS 3 YEAR WARRANTY 2 YEARS AGO. I IMMEDIATELY HAD TO HAVE THE STARTER AND BATTERY REPLACED (09/16). CAR BEGAN NOT STARTING WHEN THE PUSH BUTTON IS ENGAGED, STARTER WAS REPLACED AGAIN IN (03/18). NOW IN SEPTEMBER THE CAR BEGAN TAKING 5 OR 6 PRESSES OF THE START BUTTON TO START. DEALER REPLACED THE BATTERY (09/18). ONE WEEK LATER THE PROBLEM BEGAN AGAIN AND THE STARTER WAS REPLACED AGAIN (10/18).
TAKATA RECALL STARTER MOTOR (MITSUBA) (V6) STARTER GRINDS OR SPIN AT STARTUP
ISSUE WITH PUSH BUTTON START. STARTED EXPERIENCING INTERMITTENTLY WHEN PUSHING BUTTON, CAR WON'T START. TYPICALLY HIT THE BUTTON AGAIN AND CAR STARTS. NOW, HOWEVER, IT IS TAKING A FEW TO SEVERAL TIMES OF PUSHING THE START BUTTON FOR CAR TO START. THIS CAN HAPPEN AFTER BEING TURNED OFF FOR A MINUTE TO OVERNIGHT. THERE IS NO PATTERN. I'VE SEEN THIS PROBLEM HAS HAPPENED TO MANY OWNERS OF THE '13 HONDA ACCORD WHEN I LOOK ONLINE. WHY HASN'T HONDA TAKEN RESPONSIBILITY & ISSUED A RECALL. THIS CAN BE A SAFETY ISSUE IF YOU GET STUCK SOMEWHERE & CAR WON'T START. (COPY/PASTE- SAME PROBLEM!!)
WHILE DRIVING AT ABOUT 40 MILES PER HOUR THE POWER STEERING STOPPED WORKING. IN OCTOBER 2016 I HAD THE SAME PROBLEM AND THE REPAIR WAS DONE AS PER WARRANTY EXTENTION 15-056. THE CAR HAD 51693 MILES. I NOW HAVE 75000 MILE ON THE VEHICLE AND THE THE SAME PROBLEM OCCURRED 2 TIMES WITHIN ABOUT 20 MINUTES. I READ A REPORT THAT THE NHTSA DETERMINED THAT THE PROBLEM WAS DECREASING IN FREQUENCY AND THAT THE PROBLEM WAS WITH EARLY EQUIPMENT THAT HAD BEEN REPAIRED. OBVIOUSLY THIS IS NOT THE CASE.
MULTIPLE TIMES, WHILE DRIVING, MY POWER STEERING WILL GO OUT AND IT BECOMES VERY DIFFICULT FOR ME TO TURN THE WHEEL. I HAD TO PULL OVER WHILE ON THE HIGHWAY AND RESTART MY 2013 HONDA ACCORD TO TEMPORARILY FIX THE ISSUE. THIS ONLY HAPPENS WHILE I AM DRIVING.
POWER STEERING FAILED WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH ON HIGHWAY, LUCKILY ONE EXIT FROM A DEALER. EPS WARNING LIGHT CAME ON. TOOK CAR TO DEALER AND FIXED IT FOR 2900.00. WARRANTY HAS SINCE BEEN EXTENDED FROM 5 TO 13 YEARS FOR THIS ISSUE ON MY SPECIFIC VEHICLE.
INTERMITTENT STARTING PROBLEMS. CAR HAS NEW BATTERY AND ALTERNATOR IS GOOD. PLEASE SEE SAME COMPLAINTS ONLINE. ONE TIME I DROVE HOME FROM WORK FOR ABOUT 15 MILES, TURNED OFF CAR IN THE DRIVEWAY, TRIED TO START THE CAR AND WONT START.
I WAS IN A PARKING LOT TRYING TO PARK MY CAR IN A SPOT ON THE RIGHT SIDE. AS I PRESSED THE ACCELERATOR AT A NORMAL PRESSURE, THE CAR JUST STARTED ACCELERATING AND DID NOT STOP. I FIRST SLIGHTLY HIT A CAR WHICH HAD JUST PULLED OUT OF A PARKING SPOT. I TRIED TO USE THE BRAKES MULTIPLE TIMES AND TRIED TO SHIFT GEARS TO MAKE ANYTHING HAPPEN WHICH COULD HELP STOP THE CAR. IT WAS OUT OF CONTROL AND IN ORDER TO AVOID A CLIFF, I VEERED TO THE RIGHT AFTER PASSING ABOUT 30 PARKED CARS AND HIT AN EMBANKMENT WITH A TREE ON IT. MY CAR CRASHED INTO A PARKED LEXUS SUV WHICH THEN WAS LIFTED AND MOVED TO THE RIGHT AND HIT ANOTHER PARKED CAR. THE AIR BAGS CAME OUT AND THE CAR STOPPED. MY WIFE AND I AND OTHER PEOPLE COULD HAVE DIED IF THERE WERE ANY PEDESTRIANS IN THE PARKING LOT. WE BOTH HAVE MANY LIFE THREATENING INJURIES AND CANNOT DRIVE DUE TO THOSE FOR A LONG TIME. IN ADDITION WE ARE NOW QUITE FRIGHTENED. THE CAR WAS COMPLETELY OUT OF CONTROL AND I COULD NOT STOP IT.
2013 HONDA ACCORD. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO RECALL FOR PLACEMENT OF ELECTRIC POWER STEERING RACK. *AS *TR THE CONSUMER REQUESTED TO BE REIMBURSED FOR A STEERING FAILURE THAT WAS ONCE INCLUDED IN AN EXTENDED WARRANTY PROGRAM. THE CONSUME WAS NOT INFORMED OF THE EXTENDED WARRANTY. *JS *JS
I OWN A 2013 HONDA ACCORD. THE POWER STEERING (EPS) WILL GO OFF RANDOMLY. IN THE PAST WEEK IT WENT OFF ABOUT 6 OR 7 TIMES PER DAY. IT WILL SHUT OFF EVEN ON THE HIGHWAY WHICH MAKES IT VERY DANGEROUS TO GET CONTROL OF THE CAR. THIS HAPPENS DAILY.
I HAD ABOUT 3 TO 4 TIMES THAT THE CAR DOESN'T START AT FIRST TIME THIS YEAR. THOSE TIMES, I HAD TO TRY FOUR OR FIVE TIMES. NOW I THINK OF IT IT STARTED TO HAPPEN AFTER REPLACING THE RECALLED PART, BATTERY SENSOR ON 3/23/2018. ON 9/10/2018, I TRIED SO MANY TIME TO START THE CAR BUT HAD TO TOWED TO HONDA DEALER TO TAKE A LOOK. NEXT DAY, I WAS TOLD THE STARTER NEEDED THE STARTER REPLACEMENT COSTING $850, AND MY CAR ONLY HAS 35600 MILES ON IT.
MY CAR WILL NOT START AT TIMES, I MAKE SEVERAL ATTEMPTS AND AFTER 4 OR 5 TRYS IT THEM STARTS.
WHILE DRIVING, THE POWER STEERING LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND I LOST POWER STEERING. LUCKILY I WAS DRIVING LOCALLY SO GAIN CONTROL OF VEHICLE QUICKLY.
EPS LIGHT CAME ON. WAS VERY DIFFICULT TO STEER. FIRST TIME HAPPENED 09/05/2018, SECOND TIME- 09/06/2018. JUST HAD A RECALL WORK DONE RE: BATTERY ON 08/30/2018. COULD IT BE RELATED? I SEE MANY OTHER COMPLAINTS REGARDING THE SAME ISSUE. SHOULDN'T THERE BE A RECALL? LOOKS LIKE THERE WERE ACCIDENTS CAUSED BY THIS PROBLEM. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE SHOP YESTERDAY, PAID $160- NOTHING WAS FOUND WRONG. I FEEL UNSAFE DRIVING LIKE THIS. PLEASE RESPOND. SINCE PURCHASE IN 2017. WE HAVE HAD TO GET ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE MULTIPLE TIMES TO JUMP THE BATTERY BECAUSE VEHICLE WOULDN'T START. WE HAVE SPOKE TO HONDA THAT PERHAPS THIS VIN# VEHICLE SHOULD HAVE BEEN ON A RECALL...BUT NOT INCLUDED ON A THE 11/8/17 KGO RECALL. WE THEN TURN TO LOCAL PEPBOYS TO DO A 1ST DIAGNOSTIC ON 10/2/2018 AND SHOWED DAMAGED BATTERY AND SO WE PURCHASED A NEW BATTERY AND THEN 2 WEEKS LATER ON 11/2/18 HAD TO HAVE TWO JUMP STARTS THAT WEEK AND WE RETURNED TO PEPBOYS FOR A 2ND DIAGNOSTICS THAT PINPOINTED SOMETHING CAUSING BATTERY DAMAGE. INSTALLED A NEW 2ND BATTERY WHICH BRINGS US TO WHERE WE ARE CURRENTLY. IN CONCLUSION, WE ARE FEARFUL AS WE DRIVE THIS VEHICLE AND PARK AND WORRY THAT WE ARE GOING TO BE LEFT STRANDED SOME WHERE WHEN WE GO TO CRANK VEHICLE OR WORSE A FIRE DUE TO SOME ELECTRICAL SHORT. WE BELIEVE THAT HONDA SHOULD PROVIDE A VOUCHER TO TAKE VEHICLE TO LOCAL HONDA DEALERSHIP AT THEIR COST TO DETERMINE THE ROOT CAUSE SINCE THEY SHOULD KNOW THEIR VEHICLE THE BEST.

LOCAL HONDA DEALERSHIP CLAIMS THIS WAS COMPLETED, BUT WILL NOT PROVIDE DOCUMENTATION. IS THERE ANY OTHER WAY TO GET THE DATE AND CONFIRMATION OF THE REPAIR? USED ACCORD PURCHASED 8/13/18. VIN#[XXX]. FAULTY STARTER: HAS BEEN AN ISSUE FOR MORE THAN A YEAR. INCREASINGLY, IT HAS TAKEN MORE THAN ONE TIME TO START THE CAR. AT TIMES IT HAS TAKEN MORE THAN 8 TIMES PUSHING THE "PUSH-TO-START" BUTTON TO GET THE CAR TO START. BASED ON MY RESEARCH THIS HAS BEEN A KNOW ISSUE FOR HONDA FOR MORE THAN 2 YEARS, BUT THEY HAVE YET TO ISSUE A RECALL TO REMEDY THE PROBLEM. IT COST ME ~$650 TO REPLACE THE STARTER.
I HAD PULLED INTO A PARKING STOP AND STOPPED. I WAS ABOUT TO REVERSE TO PARK STRAIGHT WHEN MY CAR SHOT FORWARD. THE BRAKES WERE NOT WORKING AND THE CAR ACCELERATED FORWARD UNTIL IT WAS STOPPED BY A BRICK COLUMN. I WAS IN A PARKING LOT IN FRONT OF A RETAIL STRIP CENTER.
THERE THREE WARNING INDICATORS THAT COME ON MY DASH AND WILL NOT GO OFF. THE INDICATORS ARE THE POWER STEERING SENSOR, THE TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING SYSTEM AND THE VSA ENGAGED INDICATOR. I HAVE 4 FRIENDS WITH HONDA ACCORDS RANGING FROM 2013 - 2015 AND WE HAVE ALL EXPERIENCED THE SAME ISSUE. WHEN I TALK TO A MECHANIC AS WELL AS HONDA NO ONE KNOWS WHY THESE INDICATORS ARE ILLUMINATED. NO ISSUES CAN BE FOUND TO WHY THESE LIGHTS WILL NOT GO OFF. THE VEHICLE STARTS IN THE AM AND THESE LIGHTS ARE NOT ON AND WHEN I DRIVE ABOUT 30 MILES THESE LIGHTS COME ON AND STAY THE REMAINING TIME. THESE LIGHTS STAY ON, HIGHWAY AND STREET DRIVING AS WELL AS SITTING STATIONARY.
WHILE DRIVING, THE POWER STEERING FAILS AND BECOMES DIFFICULT TO STEER. THE POWER STEERING WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATES WHEN THIS OCCURS. THIS CONDITION HAS OCCURRED AT LEAST 10 SEPARATE TIMES IN THE LAST MONTH AND ONCE WAS ON THE FREEWAY TRAVELING AT 75 MPH AND ANOTHER WHILE TRAVELING AT 50 MPH, BOTH OF WHICH CAUSED ME TO NEARLY LOSE CONTROL AS I WAS CHANGING LANES. ALL OTHER INSTANCES OCCURRED WHILE MAKING SLOW SPEED TURNS. SHUTTING OFF THE VEHICLE AND RESTARTING USUALLY RESET THE SYSTEM BUT LAST FRIDAY THE STEERING FAILED AGAIN AND HAS NOT BEEN ABLE TO RESET, GOING ON 5 DAYS NOW. THIS ISSUE IS DANGEROUS AND HAS BEEN DIAGNOSED AT THE LOCAL HONDA DEALER AS A FAULTY POWER STEERING RACK UNIT. I HAVE RESEARCHED THIS CONCERN AND HAVE FOUND SEVERAL OTHER VEHICLES HAVE EXHIBITED THE SAME PROBLEM.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 HONDA ACCORD. WHILE THE KEY WAS IN THE IGNITION, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. AFTER TWENTY MINUTES, THE VEHICLE RETURNED TO NORMAL. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED BY AAA TO BALISE HONDA OF WEST WARWICK (509 QUAKER LN, WEST WARWICK, RI 02893, (401) 822-2000) TO BE DIAGNOSED, BUT NO FAILURE WAS FOUND. THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE DEALER INSTALLED A NEW BATTERY AND STARTER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000.
VEHICLE WAS PARKED ON GRAVEL PARKING AREA. WHEN VEHICLE WAS STARTED THE EPS WARNING LIGHT CAME ON. THE STEERING WHEEL ACTED FROZEN AND WAS NOT ABLE TO BE TURN LEFT OR RIGHT EVEN WITH SIGNIFICATE FORCE AND ATTEMPTED MOVEMENT FORWARD OR IN REVERSE. STOP VEHICLE AND FOLLOWED INSTRUCTIONS IN VEHICLE MANUAL. WHEN RESTARTING VEHICLE WARNING LIGHT DID NOT DISPLAY AND STEERING WAS NORMAL. VEHICLE WAS TAKEN IN FOR DIAGNOSTICS AND EPS UNIT WAS REPLACED. VEHICLE HAS 70,533.
THE STEERING WHEELS AUTOMATICALLY BECOME STIFFER AND HARD TO TURN RIGHT OR LEFT WHILE DRIVING.IT TAKES A LOT OF MUSCLING TO KEEP IT UNDER CONTROL BEFORE AN ACCIDENT OCCURS. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THIS INCIDENT OCCURRED.MY CAR HAS GOT 84000 MILES ON IT AND REGULARLY SERVICED AND MAINTAINED. THE NEXT DAY IT HAPPENED IT BECAME NORMAL AS USUAL WITH NO REPAIRS. I UNDERSTOOD LATER THAT THERE IS NO POWER STEERING FLUID AND THIS FUNCTION IS ELECTRICALLY CONTROLLED! FROM ONLINE, GOOGLE SEARCH INDICATED SEVERAL OF THE HONDA CUSTOMERS OWNING THE SAME CAR MODEL EAR HAS EXPERIENCED THE SAME PROBLEMS WITH THE STEERING WHEEL. THIS SITUATION IS VERY DANGEROUS ESPECIALLY IN HIGHWAY EXITS AND ENTRANCES WHERE CAR DRIVES IN OVER 50-60 MILES.IT CAN CREATE LIFE THREATENING ACCIDENTS IF NOT CORRECTED. DEALERS COULD NOT DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM AND DO NOT HAVE THE CAPABILITY TO FIX IT AND MIGHT COST A FUTURE. I WOULD LIKE HONDA TO RECALL THIS CAR AND FIX IT IMMEDIATELY BEFORE ANOTHER EMERGENCY SITUATION, ACCIDENT OR THRETS TO SAFETY AND LIFE.
WHILE DRIVING, WITHOUT ANY WARNING, THE POWER STEERING CUTS OUT. AFTER SHUTTING THE CAR DOWN IT THE STEERING WORKS. I WAS ON A HIGHWAY & HAD CLOSE CALL ACCIDENTS TRYING TO PULL OVER. IT HAS NOW HAPPENED 4 TIMES IN 5 DAYS. THE VEHICLE HAS UNDER 50,000 MILES
TAKATA RECALL. NOTHING HAS BEEN RESOLVED. ADDITIONALLY, VTC ACTUATOR. HONDA HAS REPAIRED ACCORD'S FROM 2008-2012 BUT NOT 2013-2016 WHICH HAVE THE SAME ISSUE. VARIOUS FORUMS AND MY OWN VEHICLE HAS THE ISSUE. I HAVE VIDEOS AND SOUND TO PROVE THE SAME ISSUE THAT HONDA IS REPAIRING ON ACCORD'S FROM 2008-2012 ON THE SERVICE BULLETIN. THE VEHICLE IS STATIONARY. WHEN TURNING ON THE VEHICLE, THE VEHICLE STARTS WITH A LOUD START-UP AND SOMETIMES WHEN THE WEATHER IS REALLY COLD, THE ENGINE WON'T START. HONDA DOES HAVE A RECALL FOR THE SAME ISSUE BUT FOR OLDER CARS.
WHEN ATTEMPTING TO USE THE PUSH BUTTON TO START THE CAR,I AM UNABLE TO START IT. ALL THE DASHBOARD LIGHTS COME ON AND I GET A CLICKING SOUND. AFTER 6-10 TIMES TRYING TO START THE CAR IT FINALLY STARTS. CAR HAS 48,000 MILES. HAS HAPPENED A FEW TIMES.
ELECTRIC POWER STEERING MALFUNCTION LIGHT CAME ON COULD BARELY TURN THE WHEEL, THE FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED WAS RUNNING ABOUT 40 MPH AND AGAIN IT HAPPENED WAS RUNNING AT 50 MPH AND GOING INTO A CURVE AND THE THIRD TIME MY SPEED WAS 55 MPH ALL THREE TIMES THIS HAS HAPPENED I WAS ON A HIGHWAY. THE FIRST TIME I HAD JUST GOT OFF THE INTERSTATE. IF YOU ARE WHERE YOU CAN PULL OFF THE ROAD AND TURN THE VEHICLE OFF AND START IT AGAIN THE STEERING IS FINE. SEEMS THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL AS RESEARCHING ON THE INTERNET I'M NOT THE ONLY ONE WITH THIS ISSUE. I HAVE CALLED HONDA HEADQUARTERS AND THEY ACT LIKE THEY DON'T KNOW WHAT I AM TALKING ABOUT AND HAD A RECORD THAT I HAD CALLED IN REGARDING THIS ISSUE. SO DOES IT TAKE SOMEONE BEING SERIOUSLY INJURED OR KILLED BEFORE THIS IS LOOKED AT. I WAS TOLD TO REPLACE THE ELECTRIC POWER STEERING GEAR. I ASKED ABOUT THE SOFTWARE UPGRADE THAT I HAD READ ABOUT AND ALSO REGARDING HOSES THAT WERE GETTING HOT CAUSING THIS. ALL THE DEALERSHIPS KNOW IS IT WILL COST MORE THAN $2000 FOR A NEW STEERING GEAR. THIS SHOULDN'T HAPPEN IN THE FIRST PLACE. I KNOW PARTS GO BAD AND IF THIS IS AN ISSUE WITH OTHER VEHICLES MAYBE DUE TO THIS BEING DANGEROUS DRIVING AUTO MAKERS MAY GO BACK TO STEERING FLUID AND DO AWAY WITH ELECTRIC POWER STEERING. STARTER FAILURE DESCRIBED IN HONDA'S TSB 16-002. CAR EXHIBITED A GRINDING NOISE UPON TRYING TO START. IT WOULD FAIL TO START. THIS WAS AN INTERMITTENT PROBLEM. HONDA FINALLY REPLACED THE STARTER BUT WAS UNWILLING TO WARRANTY THE KNOWN PROBLEM. A YEAR LATER I AM HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM.

CAR CLICKS BEFORE STARTING, CUTS OFF WHILE DRIVING, STEERING LOCKS WHEN CAR CUTS OFF. I DRIVE A CONSIDERABLE AMOUNT OF TIME ON THE FREEWAY WITH MY FAMILY. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION TO THE LIVES OF MYSELF, FAMILY AND OTHER DRIVERS ON THE ROAD. THIS IS A DAILY OCCURRENCE. SPEED VARIES WHEN THIS HAPPENS. SOMETIMES IT OCCURS FROM A COLD OR WARMED START.
THE HONDA HAS BEEN INTERMITTENTLY STARTING FOR THE PAST MONTH. WHEN YOU INITIALLY TRY TO START THERE IS A CLICK AND IF YOU TRY AGAIN OFTEN 3-4 ATTEMPTS IT WILL START. SUMMER MONTHS THIS IS VERY FRUSTRATING THE VEHICLE HAS A BATTERY SENSOR RECALL AND SINCE THE RECALL THIS HAS STARTED TO OCCUR.
MY CAR HAS JUST GONE BEYOND THE 36,000 MILE WARRANTEE & IS NOW HAVING DIFFICULTY STARTING. WHEN THE START BUTTON IS PUSHED, ALL I GET IS SOME WARNING LIGHTS. IT WILL START AFTER 6 - 12 ATTEMPTS. IT DOES NOT SEEM TO MATTER IF THE ENGINE IS COLD OR WARM. THREE DIFFERENT PEOPLE HAVE EXPERIENCED THIS PROBLEM WHEN STARTING THIS VEHICLE. THE PROBLEM HAS LASTED WEEKS & IS STILL PRESENT. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. AFTER RETRIEVING THE VEHICLE, THE FAILURE CONTINUED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED BACK TO THE SERVICE CENTER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE STARTER WAS FAULTY. THE STARTER WAS REPLACED AND THE FAILURE WAS REMEDIED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 45,000.
CAR DEVELOPED PROBLEMS STARTING. ALL LIGHTS, RADIO, ETC WOULD TURN ON BUT THE STARTER WILL NOT START THE VEHICLE. IT BEGAN SLOWLY AND GOT INCREASINGLY WORSE WITH TIME. PROBLEM GOT EVEN WORSE AFTER THE RECALLED BATTERY SENSOR WAS REPLACED.
CAR WOULD NOT START AFTER PUSHING PUSH START MULTIPLE TIMES AT 5:00 P.M. CAR WAS STATIONARY .TRIED TO START AGAIN AT 6:00 P.M., WOULD NOT START. NEXT MORNING TRIED TO AGAIN TO START CAR, FAILED TO START. CALLED AAA THEY CAME TWICE THE FIRST TECH STATED BATTERY WAS FINE AND THAT IT WAS THE STARTER HE DIDN'T HAVE TOW TRUCK SO A SECOND TECH CAME AGAIN STATED IT WAS THE STARTER. CAR WAS TOWED TO HONDA DEALERSHIP AND THE DIAGNOSIS WAS STARTER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED.

I WAS DRIVING MY 2013 HONDA ACCORD IN A SCHOOL ZONE AND ATTEMPTED TO TURN LEFT, BUT THE STEERING WHEEL WAS VERY DIFFICULT TO TURN. I NEEDED TO USE A LOT OF FORCE IN ORDER TO TURN THE STEERING WHEEL TO THE LEFT. I PULLED OVER AND STOPPED THE CAR. WHEN STOPPED, I STILL COULDN'T TURN THE WHEEL TO THE LEFT, BUT IT COULD BE SPUN TO THE RIGHT CONTINUOUSLY LIKE IT WASN'T CONNECTED TO ANYTHING. I CALLED MY HONDA DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD TO BRING IT IN. THEY ARE REPLACING THE STEERING GEAR BOX BUT IT WILL COST ME ABOUT $3,000. I CONSIDER MYSELF LUCKY IN THAT I WAS IN A SCHOOL ZONE AND DRIVING SLOWLY, AND NOT ON THE HIGHWAY. OTHERWISE, I WOULD HAVE LOST CONTROL OF MY CAR WHILE GOING AT A HIGHER SPEED.

THE ELECTRIC POWER STEERING EPS WARNING LIGHT , COUPLED WITH STEERING WHEEL STIFF RESISTANCE, OCCURRED DURING SEVERAL RANDOM EVENTS OVER THE LAST FOUR DAYS - ONCE THE FIRST DAY 30 MPH ON RURAL ROAD, TWICE THE SECOND AT 50 AND 30 MPH ON HIGHWAY THEN RURAL ROAD, FOUR TIMES YESTERDAY WITHIN THOSE SPEEDS ON CITY STREETS, THEN TWICE WHILE DRIVING TO THE DEALERSHIP THIS MORNING AT 60 MPH ON INTERSTATE HIGHWAY. SHUTTING OFF THE ENGINE, THEN RESTARTING, ONLY TEMPORARILY CLEARED THE ISSUE. I WAS FORTUNATELY DRIVING DURING THE EVENTS, AND NOT ALLOWING MY WIFE OR DAUGHTER TO EVEN CONSIDER HANDLING. TIGHT TURNS WERE NOT POSSIBLE - PERIOD. THE DEALERSHIP, UPON COMPLETING DIAGNOSTICS TODAY, DETERMINED THE STEERING BOX/RACK AND PINION WERE THE SOURCE OF FAILURE. WITH <59,000 MILES, SPOTLESS RECORD OF MAINTENANCE AT THIS ORIGINAL DEALER, AND NEVER ABUSED, THIS TYPE OF EITHER MECHANICAL OR ELECTRICAL FAILURE IS UNACCEPTABLE, AS WELL A DANGER TO THE PUBLIC. I REVIEWED 158 COMMENTS/CASES ON CAR COMPLAINT WEBSITES, SPECIFIC TO HONDA ACCORD 2013 MODELS WITH SIMILAR EPS/STEERING BOX ISSUES. WHEN PUSHING MY IGNITION BUTTON, MY CAR WON'T START, IT MAKES A CHOCKING NOISE. THIS CHOCKING NOISE HAPPENS ONE TO TWICE DAILY FOR THE LAST SEVERAL MONTHS.
