When driving my vehicle, the steering wheel gets sticky and is hard to turn and if I move the wheel slightly to the right the wheel automatically turns all the way right. I have almost gotten into an accident a couple times due to this issue. The steering wheel does not turn back to center. I see that this is a common issue for my vehicle make and model. This is a severe issue that can cause bodily harm if not replaced quickly.
The ABS/Brake warning lights have lighted up on my instrument panel. It appears that the ABS/VSA module is bad. I do not see a recall for this from Honda but after doing further research, I have learned that this is a known problem for 9th generation Honda Accords. This leaves the vehicle without the anti-lock brake system working. Brakes still engage, but no ABS. This puts driver and any passengers at risk. The dealer acknowledges the known issue but wants over $3k for the repair. Faulty ABS modules are a great liability and put drivers and their passenger at risk of injury and/or death. I am asking that the NHTSA seriously look into this matter and make Honda take accountability for this know issue they are fully aware of.
There were no warnings the power steering failed just as the previous recalls on the 2000 model Hondas did but there's no recall for this one the ABS has been affected there's no power steering and reduced engine power on and off a number of safety lights on dash the exact symptoms as described for number of Honda's before this one even the same year model but not this one 2013 Honda Accord vin [XXX] . I keep writing and promises if no one is taking notice to my complaint INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
The contact owns a 2013 Honda Accord. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the transmission unexpectedly downshifted. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed and determined that the transmission had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The dealer was contacted; however, the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 117,000.
My 2013 Honda Accord lost all power steering.
While driving on [XXX] in Selden, NY on [XXX] @ the speed of approximately 45-50 mph my 2013 Honda Accord Sport (sedan) abruptly, unexpectedly and violently lurched to the left on it's own while I was holding the wheel with my fingers. Thank God I was already in the left lane because my vehicle went off the left shoulder and began to go onto the grass in the median but I was able to recover before completely going of the road. Had I been in the right lane I would have ran into a vehicle in the left lane because traffic was heavy at the time. Up until this point, my car drove straight and true without the need for alignment, air pressure adjustments, brakes or balancing. I know this because I have a little over 95,000 miles on the car and I keep my Honda pristine. However, to rule out the obvious possibilities I had an alignment done and all 4 tires checked for balancing and tire pressure issues. My brakes are in excellent condition and the vehicle did not make any unexpected sounds either before or after the incident and no dash board lights came on before or after the incident. I went to my mechanic and he researched the problem and I was told that the EPS was malfunctioning so he reset the computer and the problem seemed to be rectified. Unfortunately, the problem occurred again, on [XXX] except this time the car lurched to the right with the same intensity. I went back to my mechanic on Friday, June 6, 2025 and after diagnosis I was told that the same problem is occurring with the EPS but this time it cannot be fixed and the cost of repair is approximately $3200.00. I did some research on line and found a ton of information on complaints about faulty EPS systems in multiple year Honda's and an investigation that is ongoing involving the NHTSB about this defect. I went to Baron Honda, in Patchogue, NY and one of their service managers, Steve, says he hasn't heard anything about any of this. I call [XXX]. I'm angry INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
I had my passenger drive shaft broken in May 2025, and there's a recall for the same issue for my model announced in June 2025. I had to change my shaft with an aftermarket part due to emergency during that time. Now, after the recall was announced I went to McCarthy Honda overland park for replacement. But the service personnel said that they don't see any dynamo on either of the shafts and denied recall. Then I told the front desk lady(Alyssa Waller) that I have replaced it in may due to emergency. She said that they don't do repairs if there is an aftermarket part and she was really rude. I was trying to understand the situation and trying to be very calm but her rudeness made me very upset with the overall service. Finally it's the thing they refused to do the recall even though I showed a picture of my broken shaft.
I have a Honda accord ex sedan then driving in the rain and down pouring the car lights would flicker like no power to drive. When I stop it goes off. This has happen to me 2 times. I seen there might of been a recall on my car so I thought I would check to see. I have a [XXX] son always like to make sure I don't have an issue. Thanks INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
While driving at about 20 - 30 mph making turns either right or left my steering locks up causing me to almost hit a pedestrian. I was able to stop the car on n time. I shut the car off and restarted raving the engine to build up pressure. It mostly happens in morning or when the car sits a very long period
Steering is hard to turn to the right and easy to the left. I suspect bad Electronic Steering Rack and Pinion. Not safe to drive. No warning lights as of yet, but mechanically has symptoms.
The EPS has failed. The steering wheel automatically turns to the left on its own which almost caused an accident and it is difficult to turn the steering wheel
VSA ABS FCW EPS warning lights, according to Honda dealership it needs a VSA ABS module, these are thousands of dollars and there’s thousands and thousands of pissed off customers. This should be warranted. It looks like honda of Europe did warranty it. I’m not sure what’s going on in honda North America. It can cause the brake pedal to go soft, and is definitely a safety hazard
Odometer Fraud. The contact purchased a 2013 Honda Accord. The contact stated that upon having the vehicle appraised to sell the vehicle, a Carfax report discovered that there was a mileage discrepancy. The vehicle was a private sale. At the time of purchase, the vehicle mileage was approximately 120,000; however, according to the Carfax report, as of October 2024, the vehicle mileage was approximately 217,000.
The high pressure fuel pump is failing. Had a diagnostic ran with the help of Autozone technicians. Advised to replace it. Looked up recalls for my vehicle and found the same issue. I was driving the vehicle home from work when the vehicle was struggling to move. It is available for inspection. No lights on prior to the fuel pump failure. These lights came on after the incident: check engine light, steering wheel with the exclamation mark, traction control, and the tire pressure light blinks then remains on.
VSA/ABS Module has gone bad. Loss of emergency braking
While driving, the steering wheel jerks to the left. There is a constant pressure of the wheel turning left. This puts me and others in danger. There have been other experiences from other people on different forums that have experienced this. Warning lamp did come on for electric steering but turned off a few days later.
The contact owns a 2013 Honda Accord. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle lost motive power. No warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was able to restart. The vehicle was taken to the dealer; however, no diagnostic trouble codes were retrieved. The dealer replaced the air intake hose, but the failure persisted. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V858000 (Fuel System, Gasoline); however, the VIN was not included in the recall. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 162,000.
The contact owns a 2013 Honda Accord. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the contact stated the ABS warning light and several other unknown warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer; however, the contact was requested to pay a diagnostic test fee. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case was filed. The failure mileage was approximately 79,347.
The car has keyless entry and push button to start. Recently I noticed the car was not able to start correctly when pushing the push button. Sometimes it can start but it needs the keyfob to be very close to the push button. 3 days ago the car wont start at all no matter how I tried it. Testes battery and starter all are at working condition. I suspected the keyless push start button is faulty.
Honda issued a recall for the protective coating for the driveshaft. Months prior to this recall, our axle failed. We paid for the replacement. Honda's recall letter clearly states that we can apply for reimbursement if we paid for the repair which we did. Honda refuses to reimburse us for the repair. The local Honda dealer has verified that we deserve reimubursement. And according to the Honda dealer, another Honda representative verified this. We are asking for $676.77, the cost of the repair. Honda's case # is 15782176.
Traction Control/ABS/Brake lights turn on 122-11 VSA Solenoid Valve Malfunction and 83-11 which causes pcm malfunction. This is a known problem with Honda vehicles and should be a recall. When this error occurs traction/abs/brake, LDW fcw are disabled. The fix for this is over $1000.00.
Steering has failed. Yes available for inspection. Safety of Driver and occupants as well as other drivers due to vehicle making an unwanted sharp left turn. Yes the Honda Dealer has confirmed. Yes by the Honda Dealership. No warnings, just a sudden left turn by the steering wheel.
The car has starting issues where it takes up to 20 attempts at the start button to get the car to start. This is a safety issue, since a person can get stranded in the middle of nowhere. I now leave my car engine on all the time (wasting gas, adding CO to the atmosphere, overheating the car) while I run errands, as I don't want to get stranded.
We were driving on the highway when the vehicle began stalling and failed to accelerate. We pulled onto the shoulder and all of the lights on the dash were on "Check engine, Electric Power Steering light, and low fuel light: The vehicle had half a tank of gas, so it was not a low fuel issue. After a few attempts the car finally started again and began to pick up power. My neighbor who is a certified Acura mechanic, used his diagnostic tool and the error code P0087 popped up indicating a drop in fuel rail/system pressure. This is the first time this has happened to this vehicle. We have serviced it regularly at our local Honda dealer since we purchased the vehicle. We see that there is an active recall for the exact issue we experienced NHTSA RECALL NUMBER:23V-858, however, our VIN number was not included in that for some reason. We feel strongly that the issue is indicative and matches that recall campaign and are requesting this recall be investigated and expanded.
On December 10, 2024, while driving at approximately 45 mph on State Street, my vehicle suddenly lost all power and stalled. The dashboard lights went out, and there were no prior warning indicators. Thankfully, I was able to coast safely off the road and restart the vehicle after it stalled. Before this incident, I had experienced multiple occasions when my car took unusually long to start. When pressing the gas pedal, the vehicle struggled to accelerate, feeling like it had no power. On December 26, 2024, I received an email stating that certain 2013–2023 Honda Accords might be subject to a recall due to a faulty fuel pump. However, after checking my specific VIN, I found no active recalls listed for my vehicle. Given the issues I have been experiencing over the past year—including stalling and power loss—I believe my vehicle may be affected by the same faulty fuel pump issue. I am filing this complaint to document that the identified fuel pump issue may affect more vehicles from these model years.
2013 Honda Accord EX-L V6 2 Separate Malfunctions Loss of all Power Steering Faulty VSA Module effecting Dashboard Indicators Broken VSA (Vehicle Stability Assistance) Module causes the ABS, FCW, LDW VSA, Steering, and Tire Gauge Warnings to light up solid. Causing the driver to be unaware if anything is wrong with the vehicle. Also leaving the car without working safety features promised by Honda such as the (FCW) Forward Collision Warning and (LDW) Lane Departure Warning Due to the Faulty VSA Module I did not receive a warning at my loss of power steering. I was able to maneuver myself off the main road and take it to a local mechanic who after scanning and checking was confused and suggested that it would most likely need an entire steering rack replacement. Still haven't gone to an Official Honda Dealership. I did not receive any warning from the vehicle when my power steering went out. Due to the faulty VSA module affecting the lights on my dashboard that included the one that would indicate faulty Power Steering. This is the first year of the model to incorporate ESA. NHSTA has had a open investigation into the faulty Power Steering but was eventually closed due to lack of reports. Many people have been reporting similar issues with this model and it has caused accidents and allegedly some deaths. At this current time there is no safety recall by Honda to fix either the Broken VSA Module or more importantly the Power Steering. VSA Modules have been recalled and replaced by Honda in different countries but not in the United States. The Faulty VSA Module puts drivers at risk by leaving the driver unaware of any potential issues with their vehicle until the problem already happens and leaves mechanics confused as to what the issue actually is. I implore NHTSA to take action against this very dangerous issue with both the loss of Power Steering and the VSA module with this year and model of Honda.
While driving my 2013 Honda Accord sedan on the turnpike, I experienced a critical failure of the Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA) modulator, which was later inspected and confirmed to be malfunctioning by a Honda service technician at South Motors Honda. This component is available for inspection upon request. As I was traveling at approximately 65 mph, the ABS (Anti-lock Braking System) malfunctioned, causing the brakes to lock up when I attempted to slow down for traffic ahead. This sudden loss of braking control put my safety and the safety of others at significant risk, as I nearly collided with the vehicle in front of me. The problem has been reproduced and confirmed by an independent service center. The vehicle has not been inspected by the manufacturer, police, or insurance representatives. Prior to the failure, several warning lamps, including the VSA, ABS, and BRAKE lights, illuminated on the dashboard. These warning lights first appeared about a week before the incident, but I was unable to get the vehicle serviced immediately due to scheduling constraints. Additionally, the Front Collision Warning system was not functioning, which further compromised my ability to avoid a potential accident. This malfunction was particularly concerning as it failed to alert me to the rapidly approaching vehicle ahead, exacerbating the dangerous situation caused by the ABS failure.
I believe my vehicle should be included in a recall (Safety Recall: 2013-15 Accord Driveshaft Inspection) that it is not currently included in. This is a major safety concern that the recall may not include all affected vehicles including mine. What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? Right driveshaft snapped while I was driving rendering the vehicle without propulsion, as well as allowing the vehicle to roll while in Park How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? This occurred while I was driving and I lost the ability to move the vehicle. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? Yes the Honda dealership confirmed the driveshaft snapped. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? I have a picture of the snapped driveshaft and the Honda dealership inspected it and provided me with a description of the issue. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? There were no warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure.
The contact owns a 2013 Honda Accord. The contact stated while driving 60 MPH, the vehicle was pulling to the left. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact stated that another vehicle was approaching close by on the right and the contact attempted to steer over to the left. The vehicle was extremely close to the highway grooves and the steering wheel seized to the left. The contact who is an independent mechanic, diagnosed the vehicle with power steering failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The dealer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 135,000.
This year model and make had a recall due to ABS modulator malfunction. At the time said my car was one that was not a recall, which is strange because I have the same make and model and I took my car into the honda place for oil change back in 2024 and the ABS modulator went out. The dealership told me that was a recall on this vehicle before for the same situation. I did contact the Honda corporation explain the situation advised me that my car was not on recall for that. I have always taken my car to dealership for any maintenance work, so strange to me that same thing you can a recall on my car has that problem, but not on recall. Which is now going to cost me thousands of dollars to get fix, for something that was on recall for same year of my car and make and model.
ABS (Automated Breaking System) is impacted and turns on lights on my dashboard failing the following while driving (Forward Collision Warning, Tire Pressure Light, Lane Departure Warning, Anti-skid system) It is avaliable for testing on request. Car does not stop as it is supposed to in urgent breaking due to ABS failure and puts driver and others on risk. My spouse already got in an accident due to this. Yes, after months of system failure on and off, I finally got my car inspected at a independent service center. Honda dealership costs more and are not ready to even look at it without paying, even though this seems to me a problem discussed online in many forums/sites. I called and emailed manufacturer and was turned down by requesting me to go to the Honda dealership repair which charge way more only to inspect only one issue. No other than the independent service center. Yes, there were dashboard lights of the above mentioned lights and I discussed this with Honda service team during my oil change and I was said this is driver assistance and not a safety issue. The root cause diagnosed by independent service center was ABS system.
Steering is sticky and difficult to turn sometimes. Sometimes the steering loosens up very quickly resulting in a very fast turn, making it very dangerous. On a regular turn, the steering wheel almost jitters, providing uneven No codes or warnings have shown up. Honda wants $4000 to replace the entire eps rack but have not stated a definitive issue with it. This all started out of nowhere, I was driving in a neighborhood and the steering went haywire.
the fuel pump on my 2013 honda accord went out. Ive taken the vehicle to the honda dealer multiple times to get it diagnosed and they keep telling me its the high pressure fuel pump and once replaced my car will run smoothly.NOT the case ive replaced it more than 6 times, my car still stalls and turns off at random so im unable to drive the vehicle. it starts and drives but you have to look at the rpms while driving, if i go over 2000 rpms itll stall. when the issue first started i was at a redlight when the vehicle stalled, thankfully no one was around me since it was late but had there been traffic my car would have been hit. i have 2 children and I cant and will not put them in that car knowing it has a problem no one is willing to take a deep dive into. Due to this issue multiple lights on the dash are on and wont go off until the problem is fixed.
Excessive Engine oil consumption 2-3 quarts between 5000 to 6000 oil changes. ABS Module failure causing all safety feature not working.
When we drive the car, there is a problem with the power steering that causes the steering wheel to over-steer, which makes the car jerk to one side or the other without warning, which makes the car veer into other lanes. We took the car to the auto shop, the mechanic told us that when the car is up on the lift and they start the car, the wheels turn by themselves, which shouldn't happen.
1. Faulty vehicle stability assistance (VSA) and antilock braking system (ABS) Module. Common issue and reported by thousands of Accord Owners, Other models of same Honda generation have been recalled for same exact issue. Vehicle is available for inspection on request. 2. Faulty VSA module poses increased risk of “loss-of-traction” events that could result to injury or death on roads. Faulty ABS module poses a severe detriment to the braking system of a the vehicle, in some cases rendering the brake pedal unresponsive or locking the brakes, in turn increasing the risk of losing control of the vehicle that could result in injury or death. 3. Yes, multiple mechanics have diagnosed the vehicle and came to the same conclusion that it is a faulty VSA/ABS module. 4. No, manufacturer, police or insurance reps have not investigated. 5. Yes this issue is known to trigger every warning light on the dashboard to turn on at once. That is what happened on my vehicle.
Power steering issues: Stiff steering wheel that locks then becomes loose and causes loss of steering control. Deviation from the intended path of travel without warning or driver input. Constant veering to one side without driver input.
ABS module failure. Lights up emergency brake, tire pressure warning, Electrical power steering, and Vehicle Stability Assist indicator. Did some research and the failure is caused by faulty soldering inside the ABS module.
I was involved in a accident in which my car had stalled on me in the middle of a intersection and I was hit by on coming traffic and I also got hit by a truck on my left hand side which had been just repaired by someone who was certified and pay through insurance company when I got my vehicle back the ads light was on my dash as well I was hurt And the airbags split open my lips and my head
vsa failure associate with fcw, ldw, vsa, tmps and eps warning light. the cause is vsa modular
The ABS module failure has caused all my dash boards lights to remain on making the lan assist and calibration impossible to complete. This needs to be investigated for all Honda accords from 2012 - 2018. I have had several mechanics say this should be recalled due to its occurrence. The other issue is the timing belt slips without any wrecks due to being poorly built.
Car started to show FWC lights, LDW lights, steering warning, Traction control. Inspected by two mechanics and say the codes come back to ABS module defect.
The contact owns a 2013 Honda Accord. The contact stated while driving 35 MPH, the vehicle started sputtering and lost motive power. The contact stated that several unknown warning lights were illuminated. The contact pulled over, and there was a delay in restarting the vehicle. The contact stated that the failure was related to NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V858000 (Fuel System, Gasoline). The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who stated that the failure was due to the fuel pump. The local dealer was contacted, but the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and informed the contact that there was no recall on the VIN. The failure mileage was approximately 153,000.
2013 Honda Accord with proper Maintenance and oil changes on time burns oil since few years despite its a low mileage car with total 69000 miles. I see online a lot people facing same issues with Honda oil burning complaints in 2013 to 2017 Accords and others. But never recieved any Recall or Technical Service Bulletin from honda to get this problem addressed. In fact spoke to Honda customer service and they said we can't do anything about it as your car VIN is not from affected models. They gave me case # 166116613 but no help. I need help from NHTSA. I took my car to dealership before Christmas on December 23rd and they gave me inspection report with no signs of any kind related to engine.
Power steering failed without warning which is extremely dangerous and could possibly cause a fatality.
Steering wheel will pull left and want to keep going left. Have to really pull steering wheel right to keep car straight. This is a known problem on 2013 Honda accords. This almost caused an accident on the road. I am bringing it to Honda but it's a known problem and should be recalled. I know the 2012 models had the issue and they were recalled.
When overtaking a car on a one lane highway, the engine suddenly started to sputter and the steering felt unstable, and a few seconds later, four engine lights turned on (Malfunction Indicator Lamp, Vehicle Stability Assist System Indicator, Electric Power Steering System Indicator, Low Tire Pressure/TPMS Indicator). I was able to drive the car to an auto shop, where their mechanics did a diagnosis and found codes P0087, 83-11, 61-11, 85-01. While cycling through the codes all lights turned off, so they advised that I could continue to drive the car as is. A few weeks later, the same problem happened when I was driving on the highway. This time, I could not push the car past 2500 RPM, rendering the car unable to exceed 55mph on the highway. I was able to drive the car to a Honda dealership. They diagnosed P0087 and P0088 codes, and followed the TSB recommendation to replace the high pressure fuel pump. After paying the hefty replacement fee and getting the new part, the car works as expected. Q1: High pressure fuel pump failed, Honda dealership did repair so they would have the old part if not already disposed. Q2: In first instance, car became unstable at high speeds. In second instance, had to drive two hours back to dealership near me on a highway going 20mph under speed limit. Also had to pull over on a narrow shoulder. Q3: Technicians reproduced problem when holding vehicle at 3000rpm. Found code P0087 and S/B 14-039 for that code, which recommended replacing the high pressure fuel pump. Q4: Component inspected by Honda dealership. Q5: Specific warning lamps and codes listed above.
On [XXX], my CV axle broke. I was stopped at a stoplight and when the light turned green, I stepped on the accelerator, then heard a VERY loud “clunk” and my car didn’t move. I shifted into all of the other gears, but it didn’t move. I shifted it into Park and called AAA. They dispatched a tow truck driver, who arrived about 45 minutes later. He engaged the emergency brake, after checking under the car and informing me that the driver’s side CV axle had broken, which prevents the car from actually being able to shift into Park. He towed the car to an independent mechanic. Both the tow truck driver and the mechanic said it’s quite uncommon for a CV axle to break. I was about 1/2 mile from getting on the freeway and luckily I didn’t make it that far, because it could have been much worse during rush hour traffic. As it was, I was blocking a lane of traffic at the stoplight. I have both pieces of the driver’s side CV axle in my possession. No one other than the tow truck driver and mechanic have inspected it, yet. I had no warning at all that the axle was about to break. While doing some online research to find out the likelihood of the passenger side CV axle breaking, I came across a recall notice for the drive shaft of certain 2013-2015 Accords in salt belt states. My VIN search showed that my car wasn’t part of this recall and a call to a Honda dealer confirmed this. I’m puzzled, since we live in Wisconsin. Might the recall need to be expanded? Code 123_11 for bad ABS module. Lights that turn on within the dashboard are: Front Crash Warning (FCW), Lane Departure Warning (LDW), TPMS, Traction Control, and Electronic Power steering. This issue is common within this generation of Accord and Honda needs to issue a recall.
Dash board lights indicated ABS system module malfunction, per Illinois Honda dealership diagnosis. ABS module failure also causes failure of forward collision warning system and lane departure warning system.
