I WAS AT A COMPLETE STOP AND WHEN I ACCELERATED TO APPROXIMATELY 15-20 MPH, THE RPMS INCREASED TO OVER 5,000 AND ENGINE BEGAN TO SHAKE HOWEVER WHEN PRESSING ON THE GAS PEDAL VEHICLE WOULD NO LONGER ACCELERATE. MY ENGINE, EPS, AND OIL LIGHTS ALL ILLUMINATED AND VEHICLE STALLED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE LANE. VEHICLE IGNITION WOULD NOT ENGAGE AFTER STALLING. I HAD TO HAVE THE VEHICLE TOWED. IN SEPT OF 2019 I HAD A SIMILAR ISSUE WITH HIGH RPMS, VEHICLE NOT ACCELERATING PROPERLY AND SAFETY LIGHT ILLUMINATING. I BROUGHT IT IN TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE WE PURCHASED IT USED (JUNE OF 2019) AND THEY CLAIMED THEY COULD NOT FIND ANY PROBLEMS. NO RECALL WAS MENTIONED BY THEM SO I AM ASSUMING IT WAS NEVER LOOKED INTO. HAD IT NOT OF BEEN FOR THE TOW TRUCK DRIVER I WOULD HAVE NEVER BEEN MADE AWARE OF A POSSIBLE RECALL ISSUE.

THE CONTACT STATED SEVERAL ATTEMPTS WERE NEEDED TO RESTART THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE STARTED NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 120,000.
I WAS DRIVING ABOUT 60 ON HIGHWAY MY CAR LOST ALL ABILITY TO ACCELERATE AND EVENTUALLY KILLED MY BATTERY SO I RESTART THE CAR TO WHICH MY SPEED WAS NO LONGER GETTING ABOVE 20 MPH AND BARELY COST TO A PARKING LOT MIND YOU I WOULD HAVE POWER BUT NO ACCELERATION AND I HERD A KNOCKING THAT WAS NOT PRESENT BEFORE MY CAR JUST WAS SERVICED FOR A OIL CHANGE AND FILTER WAS PUT ON IT ABOUT TWO WEEKS FROM THE DAY IT HAPPENED WHICH THIS ALL CAME ABOUT JUNE 25, 2020 AND MY AC ALSO QUIT WORKING IT BLOWS BUT NO COLD COMES OUT JUST RECENTLY HAPPENED WITH IN THE PAST TWO WEEKS. *TR
PURCHASED THE VEHICLE TODAY AND ODOMETER READS DIFFERENT THAN REPORTS. REPORT SHOW IT SHOULD 151,000 WHILE THE DASH SHOWS 92,583. *TR
AS I WAS DRIVING OVER 60MPH I NOTICED THAT MY CAR WAS PULLING IN DIFFERENT DIRECTIONS. I MADE IT OFF THE HIGHWAY AND TURNED A SHARP CORNER AND THE BOLTS TO THE LOWER CONTROL ARM APPEAR TO HAVE FELL OUT. THE DRIVER SIDE LOWER CONTROL ARM IS DANGLING. TOW TRUCK IS NEEDED. *TR
DRIVING CAR AND IT STALLED AND DIED. ENGINE MAKING CLUCKING SOUND. HAD TO TOW TO MECHANIC ENGINE LOCKED UP. ALSO BEFORE ENGINE FAILURE CAR HARD TO START .THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION WHEN DIED IN THE CITY. *TR
MY ENGINE LIGHT HAS BEEN ON FOR 6 MONTHS AND I HAD THE TIMER SENSOR REPLACED TWICE. AND IT IS STILL ON. MY CAR STEERING WHEEL VIBRATES AT TIMES. THE STEERING WHEEL MAKES A CRACKING NOISE WHILE PARKING OR PULLING OUT. ALSO MY AIRBAG LIGHT HAS BEEN ON CONTINUOUS FOR 6 MONTHS OVER THE STEERING WHEEL. KEEP TAKING IT TO THE SHOP AND TOLD TO CHECK RECALLS BUT MY CAR IS NEVER LISTED.
EPS CHECK ENGINE ABS AND WHEEL LINEAMENT LIGHTS ARE ALL ON AND MY WHEELS SOUND HORRIBLE HITTING A SMALL BUMP
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 HYUNDAI SONATA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE REVERSING OUT OF HER FRIENDS DRIVEWAY. THE VEHICLE FAILED TO STOP AS THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED. NO WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP WHEN IT CRASHED INTO THE CURB. NO INJURIES WERE SUSTAINED. NO POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. NO DAMAGED TO THE VEHICLE. THE DEALER DON DAVIS HYUNDAI (214 HIGHWAY 332 W, LAKE JACKSON, TX 77566) WAS CONTACTED AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT NO RECALLS WERE UNDER THE VIN. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN DIAGNOSED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DRIVABLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 124,000.
STARTING THIS PAST WEEKEND, MY SON'S CAR STALLED WHILE DRIVING BUT WAS ABLE TO RESTART AND GET TO HIS DESTINATION. YESTERDAY 6/2/2020 HE RECEIVED AN OIL CHANGE AND HEADED TO WORK. HIS ENGINE STARTED KNOCKING LOUDLY AND STARTED TO STALL AGAIN WHILE HE WAS ON THE HWY. HE WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER SAFELY. WE HAD THE CAR TOWED TO A GARAGE. THEY SAID IT WAS THE ENGINE SPECIFICALLY #3 ROD. THEY TOLD US IT HAS BEEN AN ISSUE WITH HYUNDAI FOR THIS ENGINE. *TR

MY CAR HAS 110,000 MILES AND SUDDENLY THE AIR BAG LIGHT WILL NOT GO OFF. I KNOW I HAD RECALL #174 THAT WAS SERVICED IN JULY OF 2019. LESS THEN A YEAR LATER THE DEALER IS SUGGESTING I MAKE AN APPOINTMENT FOR A $125.00 DIAGNOSTIC CHECK!!!! *TR

I PULLED INTO MY DRIVEWAY AND AS I PUT ON THE BRAKE THE CAR SUDDENLY ACCELERATED. THERE ARE SKIDS MARKS ON THE CEMENT SHOWING THE FRONT WHEELS WERE LOCKED FROM BRAKING BUT THE CAR CONTINUED TO PUSH ME FORWARD INTO THE BACK OF MY FORD RANGER.. THE ENGINE WAS REVVING AND SINCE BRAKING WAS NOT STOPPING THE CAR I SHOVED IT INTO PARK. THE CAR CAME TO A HALT BUT THE ENGINE WAS STILL REVVING AND DID NOT STOP UNTIL I TURNED OFF THE MOTOR. AN ARTICLE ON AUTOWISE.COM DATED 10/26/2019 REFERS TO THIS PROBLEM AS "HYUNDAI'S SECRET ACCELERATION PROBLEMS" AND THERE ARE A LOT OF COMMENTS FROM ABOUT 40 DIFFERENT PEOPLE TALKING ABOUT THIS TYPE OF PROBLEM. THIS HAPPENED TO ME ONCE BEFORE BUT NOT WITH NO DAMAGE. THIS COULD HAVE BEEN FATAL IF I HAD BEEN IN ANY OTHER SITUATION. IT IS TIME FOR A FEDERAL RECALL. *TR

PURCHASED CAR FROM CARMAX IN 2019 THEY SAID THERE WAS NO OPEN RECALLS. CAR HAD 110,XXX MILES. CAR YESTERDAY DIED ON ME WHILE DRIVING 3 TIMES TO AND FROM WORK. NEARLY GOT INTO AN ACCIDENT TWICE. ONCE STALLED ON HIGHWAY AT 65 MPH. SECOND TIME WAS COASTING TO A STOP LIGHT ALMOST REAR ENDED A CAR. THIRD TIME WAS AT STOP LIGHT. AFTER THE THIRD STALL I WAS APPROACHING THE HIGHWAY ON-RAMP AND T MADE KNOCKING NOISES AND STALLED. I COASTED TO SAFE PLACE OFF THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. POPPED THE HOOD SAW OIL ALL UNDER THE CAR AND TRAIL UP TO IT. THEN I SAW BROKEN PIECES OF ALUMINUM BLOCK AND PIECE OF CONNECTING ROD. NEEDLESS TO SAY IT EXPERIENCED CATASTROPHIC FAILURE. THEN GOT HOME AND SEEN THERE WAS RECALL FOR THIS VERY PROBLEM. MY CAR HAS 127,133 MILES ON IT NOW. *TR
THE HYUNDAI SONATA 2011 FUEL PUMP FAILED AND THE CAR STOPPED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. PUTTING ME IN DANGER OF AN ACCIDENT. THE ENGINE HAD BEEN REPLACED, AND OTHER SONATAS HAVE REPORTED PROBLEMS WITH THE FUEL PUMP. THE COST OF REPAIR WAS $605 FOR THE PUMP AND $300 FOR THE LABOR. THIS PUMP IS IN THE FUEL TANK AND IS VERY DANGEROUS. IT SHOULD BE RECALLED JUST LIKE THE ONES IN THE 2013 & 2014. I WANT A REFUND OF MY MONEY TO FIX THIS DANGEROUS PROBLEM. *TR
THE DASHBOARD HAS SEVERAL CRACKS AND MANY OTHERS HAVE REPORTED THE SAME PROBLEM ON 2011 AND OTHER MODELS. MY CONCERN IS FOR THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG SINCE THERE ARE SEVERAL CRACKS ON THE DASHBOARD IN THAT AREA.
ENGINE HAS BEEN REPLACED 2 TIMES DOING 65 MPH ON FREEWAY LOSES POWER IN ADDITION AIR BAG LIGHT IS ON WHEN THEY HAD CAR FOR 3 WEEKS THEY GAVE IT BACK AND SAID THEY DIDN'T KNOW WHAT WAS WRONG WITH AIRBAGS I HAD VEHICLE TOWED THERE 2 DAYS AGO AGAIN AND SPOKE TO [XXX] AT PALM SPRINGS HYUNDAI AND HE SAID THEY WERE TRYING TO FIGURE OUT PROBLEM WITH ENGINE THEY INSTALLED AND IF I WANTED HIM TO DIAGNOSE AIRBAGS PROBLEMS IT WOULD BE A 150 DIAGNOSIS FEE THEY HAD THE CAR THERE THE FIRST TIME FOR 3 WEEKS AND RELEASED IT AND TIL MY DAUGHTER THAT THEY COULD NOT FIGURE IT OUT AIRBAGS ISSUES ARE DANGEROUS IF THEY ARE NOT WORKING CORRECTLY AND DEPLOY ON FREEWAY I TOLD [XXX] SERVICE GUY THIS BUT HE GIGGLED AND SAID IT WOULD COST 150 DOLLARS DIAGNOSTIC FEE WHICH HE SAID THEY CHECKED SEVERAL MONTHS AGO I LENT MY DAUGHTER WHO DRIVES MY 8 YEAR OLD GRANDSON MY VEHICLE BECAUSE I WAS CONCERNED OF THEIR SAFETY I AM A CANCER PATIENT AND NEED A VEHICLE TO GET BACK AND FORTH TO MY DOCTORS WHEN I ASKED [XXX] ABOUT A RENTAL HE BRUSHED ME OFF AND SAID THERE WERE NONE AVAILABLE AT THIS POINT I AM GOING TO CALL ABC INVESTIGATIVE REPORTERS BECAUSE I AM AT A WITS END I REALLY NEED HELP WITH THIS MATTER THANK YOU [XXX] AIRBAGS ALSO [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6). *TR
MY HUSBAND AND I ARE THE OWNERS OF TWO 2011 HYUNDAI SONATAS. OUR COMPLAINT IS BASED ON THE FACT THAT WE FEEL THAT HYUNDAI HAS EITHER PURPOSELY OR IN IGNORANCE CREATED AN INHERENT DEFECT IN ITS BATTERY SYSTEM. OVER THE COURSE OF THE PAST NINE YEARS, ON A NUMBER OF OCCASIONS, WE HAVE HAD TO HAVE OUR BATTERIES CHANGED OR DISCONNECTED TO REPAIR SOMETHING ELSE. EACH TIME THIS HAPPENS, WHEN THE BATTERY IS DISCONNECTED OR REPLACE BY AN AUTO SHOP OTHER THAN HYUNDAI, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT TURNS ON AND THERE IS AN WARNING THAT THE MAP SENSOR NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. MY DASHBOARD HAS HAIRLINE CRACKS IN THE AREAS BY THE AIR BAGS. I FEEL THAT THIS COULD BE A COMPROMISE ISSUE WITH THE AIR BAGS. WE HAD THE SAME ISSUE WITH OUR OTHER 2011 SONATA. - ENGINE HAD METAL SHAVINGS IN IT WHICH LED TO EXCESSIVE AMOUNTS OF OIL CONSUMPTION, IT TOOK THE DEALERSHIP ALMOST A YEAR TO ADMIT THAT THE ENGINE WAS GOING OUT -THE BRAKE LIGHT SWITCH KEEPS GOING OUT, I HAVE REPLACED MY THIRD SWITCH IN MY 7 YEARS OF OWNING THIS CAR. -THE TAILLIGHT WIRING HARNESS WARP THE TAILLIGHT HOUSING FOR THE BRAKE LIGHTS DUE TO EXCESSIVE HEAT GENERATED FROM THE 2537 BULBS. IN GENERAL, THE WIRING HARNESS DON'T EVEN LAST THAT LONG
THE ENGINE LOCKED UP ON MOTION AND SEIZED THE OIL PUMP
THE DRIVER SIDE TAIL LIGHT BULB WAS OUT. WHEN I ATTEMPTED TO REPLACE IT, I NOTICED THAT THE LIGHT ASSEMBLY MOLDING HAD MELTED (DUE TO THE HEAT FOR THE TAILLIGHT) AND I COULD NOT REMOVE THE TAIL LIGHT BULB. WHEN I LOOKED AT THE PASSENGER SIDE, IT HAD MELTED AS WELL. AT THIS TIME, I EVEN HAVE A TAILLIGHT BULB THAT FELL INTO THE LIGHT ASSEMBLY ON THE PASSENGER SIDE BECAUSE IT COULD NOT BE PULLED THROUGH THE MELTED MOLDING. THE LIGHT SOCKETS FOR BOTH THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER TAIL LIGHTS HAD BURN MARKS ON THEM. *TR
SEAT BELT WARNING LIGHT LUMINATED ON DASH BOARD, DOES NOT GO OFF.
I WAS DRIVING AT A SLOW RATE OF SPEED, ABOUT 10 MPH, AND I HEARD A CLANKING NOISE AND HEARD SOMETHING HITTING THE TIRE WELL. I STOPPED MY CAR AND GOT OUT. MY DRIVER'S SIDE COIL SPRING BROKE, AND A PIECE ABOUT 5 INCHES LONG, WAS ON THE GROUND. I CHECKED THE RECALL LIST AND IT SAID MY VIN # WAS NOT ON THE LIST. MY NAME IS [XXX]. CELL PHONE #[XXX]. TRANSMISSION OCCASIONALLY CUTS OUT WHEN CAR HAS BEEN TURNED OFF AND ON AGAIN.
The Sonata Hyundai Hybrid trunk will not open when the battery dies, and since the battery for the Hybrid is in the trunk, when the battery dies, the car has to be towed because, unfortunately, the key to the trunk has never worked. The last time my battery died, the dealer, after many hours, finally managed to get the trunk open but not without damaging the mechanism. Now there is no way for someone to get out of the trunk if they should get locked in. It's my understanding that a trunk latch malfunction has been a problem with Hyundai Sonata Hybrids for a long time. There is a recall on the newer models. Why not the 2011? The latch does not work. There were no warnings that the battery was low before the trunk became unaccessable.
ENGINE SEIZED WHILE DRIVING ON MARCH 24, 2020
WAS DRIVING ABOUT 30 MPH WHEN THE CAR BEGAN ACCELERATING WITHOUT ME APPLYING PRESSURE TO THE GAS. I WAS COMING TO A LIGHT TO MAKE A RED TURN AND WHEN I APPLIED THE BRAKES THEY WOULD NOT SLOW DOWN MY VEHICLE SO MY SPEED INCREASED. THE STEERING WHEEL THEN LOCKED AND BEFORE I KNEW IT A CAR HAD COLLIDED WITH ME CROSSING IN FRONT OF ME. MY CAR WAS TOTALLED.
EVERY TIME I STOP AND START TO GO AGAIN IN FIRST AND SECOND GEAR IT FEELS LIKE MY CAR IS SLIPPING AND NOT WANTING TO CATCH THE GEAR SEEMS TO ME LIKE IT'S GOING TO STALL IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD ONE DAY
THERE'S A CLICKING SOUND IN THE STEERING COLUMN OF MY VEHICLE, FIRST IT WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE CRUISE CONTROL SYSTEM NOW IT'S THE STEERING COLUMN. STATIONARY AND IN MOTION. *TR
WHEN I TURN STEERING WHEEL IT MAKES THE LOUD SOUND. MY WINDSHIELD ONLY WORKS ON FAST MODE. TRY TO CALL THE PLACE I GOT IT FROM THEY DON'T KNOW WHAT'S GOING ON. THEY WANT TO KEEP IT OVER NIGHT BUT CAN'T GET AHOLD OF ANYMORE FOR THEM TO GET IT. THEY WILL NOT RETURN MY CALLS. THE BEEN GOING ON SINCE I GOT THE CAR.

THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED AS OF YET. THE MANUFACTURER HAD NOT BEEN INFORMED OF FAILURE. UPON INVESTIGATION, THE CONTACT ASSOCIATED THE FAILURE WITH NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V568000 (ENGINE) HOWEVER, THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 72,000.*DT*JB
WHILE EXITING THE FREEWAY, MY ENGINE, EPS, BATTERY AND OIL LIGHTS ALL WENT ON AND MY ENGINE STALLED OUT. THIS RESULTED IN A TOW TO AN AUTO REPAIR SHOP, WHERE I WAS TOLD THERE WAS LIKELY A ROD BEARING FAILURE IN THE ENGINE, WHICH REQUIRES REPLACING THE ENGINE. AFTER SOME RESEARCH, I DISCOVERED ACTIVE HYUNDAI RECALL 132 - ENGINE INSPECTION / REPLACEMENT, WHICH IS VERY SIMILAR TO WHAT I EXPERIENCED.THIS RECALL IS NOT CURRENTLY ASSOCIATED WITH MY VIN, HOWEVER, DESPITE FITTING THE DESCRIPTION AND MODEL YEARS AFFECTED. SHOULDN'T I HAVE BEEN ISSUED A RECALL NOTICE FOR THIS?
I WAS DRIVING ON A CITY STREET IN KERNERSVILLE, WHEN THE MOTOR LOCKED UP AND ALMOST CAUSE ME TO WRECK. THE MOTOR HAD AROUND 120,000 MILES ON IT.
IT JERKS TIME TO TIME WE TOOK IT TO A LOCAL HYUNDAI DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID THEY CHECKED TRANSMISSION AND TEST CAME BACK FINE. I HAVE A 3 YEAR OLD AND THE INTERMITTENT JERKING SCARES US. IT HAPPENS WHEN IT HAS DIFFICULTY SHIFTING SOMETIMES. DON'T KNOW WHEN TO EXPECT IT. IT CUT OFF ONE DAY IN CITY STREETS THEN STARTED BACK. MY CAR IS BURNING A EXTREME AMOUNT OF OIL. AFTER FILLING UP MY OIL OR GETTING A OIL CHANGE WITHIN TWO WEEKS I'M DOWN TO ONE QUART OF OIL.
I WAS DRIVING THIS VEHICLE ON THE HIGHWAY AND THE ENGINE JUST CAUGHT FIRE AND THE VEHICLE BURNT DOWN
I WAS DRIVING ON A SIDE STREET, HEARD LOUD NOISE COMING FROM LEFT FRONT WHEEL AREA WHEN I HEARD A GRINDING SOUND AND CAR WAS RIDING ROUGH. CALLED FOR HELP.INSTRUCTED NOT TO DRIVE VEHICLE TILL IT WAS LOOKED AT BY A MECHANIC. MECHANIC WHO EVALUATED AND REPAIRED VEHICLE SAID HE HAS NEVER SEEN "PITTED WHEEL BEARINGS" IN 30 YEARS OF OPERATION. HORN COVER PRESSES DOWN ON AIRBAG CONNECTOR CAUSING THE AIRBAG TO LIGHT TO COME ON. THIS COULD CAUSE THE AIRBAG TO FAIL TO INFLATE IN A CRASH.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED 2011 HYUNDAI SONATA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE THE DRIVER WAS DRIVING WAS ON THE HIGHWAY, THE SPEEDOMETER STARTED TO GO CRAZY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE HIS WIFE WAS PULLING INTO THE DRIVEWAY AT HER RESIDENCE, SHE SAW SMOKE COMING FROM THE ENGINE, THE VEHICLE BLOWUP. THE DRIVER AND PASSENGERS WAS ABLE TO EXIT THE VEHICLE SAFELY AND DID NOT SUSTAINED ANY INJURIES. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT EXTINGUISHED THE FIRE AND FILE A REPORT. A POLICE REPORT WAS ALSO FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC AND LATER WAS TOWED BY AN INSURANCE COMPANY LOT. WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 134,000.
THE AIR BAG WARNING HAS BECOME CONSTANT RANDOMLY AND DOESN'T GO AWAY AFTER SEATBELT ARE BUCKLED
THE BRAKES LIGHTS AND HEAD LIGHTS GOES OUT ALOT.. BULBS MELTING INTO SOCKET AND BURNING OUT FREQUENTLY AND HAVING TO REPLACE THE WHOLE ASSEMBLY. IT'S VERY HAZARD BECAUSE IT CAN CATCH FIRE. I WAS DRIVING ON HIGHWAY DOING RAIN AND NOTICED MY HEAD LIGHT JUST WENT OUT AND I PULLED OVER TO CHECK AND CHECKED THE BACK AS WELL CAUSE I SMELLED SOMETHING BURNT. THE REAR BREAK LIGHT WAS BURNT AND MELTED INTO SOCKET. I'VE REPLACED THE BACK ASSEMBLY ALEAST ONCE TO TWICE A YEAR.
I HAVE BEEN HAVING INTERMITTENT TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS FOR A WHILE NOW. I?VE HAD THE CODES CHECKED SEVERAL TIMES AND BY SEVERAL PEOPLE, AND EACH ONE SAYS THAT ITS A CODE FOR A FAULTY AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION TEMPERATURE SENSOR. IT CAUSES VERY HARD AND UNPREDICTABLE SHIFTING. WE?VE HAD TO STOP DRIVING IT ALL TOGETHER BECAUSE OF SAFETY CONCERNS DUE TO THE FACT THAT THE LAST TIME I DROVE IT I HAD MY 11 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER IN THE CAR WITH ME AND THE CAR WOULD NOT SHIFT INTO THE PROPER GEAR WHILE GOING THROUGH A BUSY INTERSECTION, AND WE WERE ALMOST T-BONED BY A LARGE SUV, THE IMPACT WOULD HAVE BEEN ON THE PASSENGER SIDE WHERE MY DAUGHTER WAS AND I HAVE REFUSED TO DRIVE OR ALLOW THE CAR TO BE DRIVEN SINCE. I HAVE FOUND A VERY LARGE NUMBER OF COMPLAINTS FOR THIS SAME ISSUE ON SEVERAL SITES ONLINE, MOST OF WHICH I HAVE COME ACROSS ON A SONATA FORUM. THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE BY THE MANUFACTURER. THIS IS NOT SOMETHING THAT IS UNCOMMON AMONG THESE CARS, BUT IT IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS, AND THE FACT THAT THERE HAS NOT BEEN A RECALL ISSUED TO CORRECT IT IS, IN MY OPINION, RECKLESS AND IRRESPONSIBLE. WE PUT OUR LIVES, AND THE LIVES OF OUR FAMILY AND LOVED ONES, IN THESE CARS BECAUSE WE TRUSTED THIS COMPANY/MANUFACTURER TO KEEP US SAFE, AND THEY HAVE FAILED AND CONTINUE TO FAIL BY NOT ADDRESSING THIS ISSUE PROPERLY. *TR
OUR CAR HAD A RECALL, THE RECALL WAS FIXED IN 2014, BUT IT HAS SINCE BROKEN. DURING THAT TIME WE HAVE PUT ONLY 30,000 MILES ON THE CAR. THE TRANSMISSION CABLE SNAPPED AND THEY ARE CHARGING US $1000 TO FIX SOMETHING THAT THEY SAID THEY FIXED. THIS IS A PART THAT SHOULDN'T BREAK FOR THE WHOLE LIFE OF THE CAR. OUR CAR HAD A RECALL, IT WAS REPAIRED BY HYUNDAI, AND THEY ARE REFUSING TO REPAIR THE 'REPAIRED' WORK. WE CALLED HYUNDAI CORPORATE OFFICES AND GOT THE RUN AROUND. I FEEL, IF THIS WAS A NATIONAL ISSUE, TO WHERE THEY HAD TO RECALL 850,000 CARS, THEY MUST HAVE BEEN A SERIOUS ISSUE. ON WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 5, 2020, I WAS AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT WHEN SOMEONE MOTIONED TO SPEAK TO ME IN REGARDS TO MY DRIVER SIDE BRAKE LIGHT BEING OUT. I PROCEEDED TO DRIVE TO MY DEALERSHIP TO GET IT CHANGED OUT KNOWING IT WAS PROBABLY JUST A BURNT OUT BULB. THE DEALERSHIP SERVICE PERSONNEL INFORMED ME THAT THE WHOLE SOCKET WHERE THE LIGHT BULB SITS IN HAD MELTED. THIS CAUSED ALOT OF EROSION IN THE BULB SOCKET AND AFFECTED THE WIRING AS WELL. I FEEL DEEPLY THAT THIS CAN CAUSE A FIRE CONSIDERING THE LIGHT BULB BUSTED AND CAUSED THE WHOLE INSIDE OF THE SOCKET TO MELT. I PAYED $150.00 TO REPAIR THE SOCKET AND WIRING TO FIX THE PROBLEM FOR NOW. I WAS TOLD IT MAY NOT LAST LONG. I'M HOPING THIS PROBLEM DOESN'T LINGER AND CREATE MORE PROBLEMS. I AM VERY CONCERNED ON HOW THESE LIGHT BULBS POP AND MELT EVERYTHING. I WOULD LIKE THIS TO BE TREATED AS A SAFETY ISSUE. PLEASE HELP ME RESOLVE THIS ISSUE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT AN UNKNOWN WARNING LIGHT HAD APPEARED WHILE ATTEMPTING TO START THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THE VEHICLE WITH A DEFECTIVE FUEL PUMP. THE CONTACT SPOKE WITH LEN STOLER HYUNDAI 11279 REISTERSTOWN RD, OWINGS MILLS, MD 21117 WHO INFORMED HER THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT SUBJECTED TO A RECALL. THE MANUFACTURER HAD NOT BEEN NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 85,000.
