STEERING COUPLER RECALL NEEDED! FRONT DASH CRACK RANDOMLY APPEARED I READ IT COULD BE DUE TO THE DAMAGED COUPLER. I HAD A WRECK AND MY CAR WAS ABOUT $400 FROM BEING TOTALLED. THE INSURANCE REFUSED TO FIX THE COUPLER AND IT IS NOW MY RESPONSIBILITY. IT SOUNDS AWFUL AND IT IS SCARY DRIVING AROUND WITH MY STEERING WHEEL SOUNDING LIKE IT IS GOING TO FLY OFF THE DASH.
MY TRANSMISSION APPEARS TO BE SLIPPING. REALLY SCARED TO DRIVE IT FAR BUT CAN'T AFFORD TO REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION.
ACCELERATION PROBLEMS CAR STOP ON ME I GOT MY CAR TOWED NO CODES OR NOTHING SHOWED UP TRY TO START CAR AT SHOP SMELLED A BURNING SMELL NEEDS NEW STARTER NEW STARTER REPAIRED. COUPLE OF DAYS LATER I STOP FOR A UPDATE ENTIRE ENGINE GONE WILL CALL HYUNDAI TOMORROW I HAVE TWO KIDS AND THIS IS HORRIBLE
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2011 HYUNDAI SONATA. THE CONTACT CALLED ON BEHALF OF HER SPOUSE THE DRIVER, STATING WHILE HE WAS DRIVING AT AN UNKNOWN SPEED, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT. THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO COAST TO THE SIDE OF THE ROADWAY BUT WAS UNABLE TO RESTART. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HER SPOUSE SAW SMOKE COMING FROM UNDERNEATH THE HOOD OF THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THEY RECEIVED A CALL FROM THE POLICE DEPARTMENT MAKING THEM AWARE THAT THE VEHICLE HAD CAUGHT ON FIRE. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT WAS EXTINGUISHED THE FIRE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A TOW LOT AND DEEMED A TOTAL LOSS. A POLICE REPORT AND FIRE DEPARTMENT REPORT WAS MADE AS THE FIRE DEPARTMENT HAD TAKEN PHOTOS OF THE FIRE. THE MANUFACTURER OR THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED ABOUT THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 100,000.
WHEN ACCELERATING THE CAR JERKS AND THEN RUNS SMOOTHLY ON THE HIGHWAY, THE CAR JERKS EVERYTIME STOPPING AT THE STOP LIGHT AND MOVING FROM A STOP LIGHT AND ALSO JERKS WHEN REVERSING. THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, SO I TOOK IT TO HYUNDAI DEALERSHIP. AFTER SERVICING THE CAR AND WYNN FUEL INJECTION AND THROTTLE BODY SERVICES WHICH ALREADY COST ME MORE THAN $800.00, THE TOOK THE CAR FOR ROAD TEST AND IT WAS STILL JERKING, THEY TOLD ME THAT THE TRANSMISSION BAD AND IT NEEDS TO BE REPLACED.
I WAS DRIVING MY CAR WHEN SUDDENLY THE STEERING WHEEL STARTED MAKING A LOUD CLICKING NOISE ANY TIME TURNED THE WHEEL OR WENT OVER A LARGE OR SMALL BUMP. THE NOISE IS SO LOUD THAT IT WILL OCCASIONALLY SET OFF THE "CHECK ENGINE" LIGHT BUT THIS WILL EVENTUALLY GO OFF ON ITS OWN.
BRAKE LIGHTS STAY ON GOT A RECALL ON IT DEALER SAYS THEY FIXED IT AND NOW WANT YO CHARGE ME OVER 200.00 TO FIX IT AGIN
VEHICLE SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY. NOT THE BATTERY, BELT, HAS OIL AND ANTIFREEZE ALMOST CAUSED A MAJOR ACCIDENT WITH MY 17 YEAR OLD DRIVING
THE KEY TO MY 2011 SONATA IS STUCK AND I CANNOT GET IT OUR OF THE IGNITION. THE CAR OPERATES JUST FINE. BUT WHEN YOU TURN THE MOTOR OFF YOU CANNOT GET THE KEY OUT.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO HAPPY HYUNDAI (9121 SOUTH CICERO AVE, OAK LAWN, IL 60453, (708) 422-9300) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE STEERING GEARBOX SHAFT FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 106,000.
THE CAR IS STILL THROWING THE ECM CODE UP AFTER ITS BEEN REPLACED SUPPOSEDLY THE BRAKES HAVE BEEN GRINDING SINCE DAY 1 THE BRAKE ACTUATOR IS BAD SOMETHING IS MAKING THE THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR TO KEEP GOING BAD THE DEALERSHIP WAS AWARE OF ALL THE ISSUES AND MADE US AWARE OF 2
POWER STEERING SUDDENLY CUT OUT WITHOUT WARNING WHILE IN MOTION ON THE STREET. THIS RENDERED THE VEHICLE NEARLY UNUSABLE.

AIRBAG LIGHT ON IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND MANY OTHERS REPORTING SAME ISSUE SAME VEHICLE YEAR AND MODEL
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 HYUNDAI SONATA SE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING, THERE WAS A FUEL ODOR PRESENT. THE CONTACT NOTICED SMOKE COMING UNDER THE HOOD AND THEN FLAMES. THE VEHICLE WAS STOPPED AND THE CONTACT EXITED THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS ENGULFED IN FLAMES AND DESTROYED. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT EXTINGUISHED THE FIRE. THERE WERE NO INJURIES AND NO POLICE REPORT FILED. THE CONTACT WAS NOT SURE IF A FIRE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE JUNKYARD FOR INSPECTION BY THE INSURANCE COMPANY. THE DEALER VERIFIED THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS AND THE MANUFACTURER ISSUED A CASE NUMBER AND PROMISED A CALLBACK. THE ENGINE WAS REPLACED BY AN EARLIER RECALL AND HAD 20,000 OF MILEAGE AT THE TIME OF THE FIRE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 137,000.
WHILE DRIVING VEHICLE IT FULLY SHUT OFF. IT HAD BEEN MAKING A LOUD NOISE FOR A WHILE AND BURNING OIL FREQUENTLY SO WE TOOK IT TO HYUNDAI FOR THE ENGINE RECALL AND THEY SAID NOTHING WAS WRONG WITH THE ENGINE. NOW THE CAR SHUTOFF ON A MAJOR HIGHWAY IN THE BAY AREA (RICHMOND PARKWAY) S AND NOW WON'T CRANK OR START. TOOK THE CAR TO MIDAS TO DO A ENGINE DIAGNOSTIC AND WASTED MONEY BECAUSE THEY SAID THEY COULDN'T DO THE FULL CHECK WITHOUT THE CAR CRANKING. MECHANIC THINKS A ROD OR PISTON IS THE CAUSE. CALLED HYUNDAI AND THEY ARE GIVING THE RUN AROUND AS TO SEEING ABOUT THE ISSUE. NEED HELP ASAP. I'M A MOTHER OF FOUR CHILDREN AND NEED HELP.

I HAD JUST BOUGHT MY CAR, TWO MONTHS LATER, I'M DRIVING TO WORK WHICH IS LESS THEN 5 MILES AWAY .. AND MY CAR TS MAKING A KNOCKING NOISE. I GOT NO LIGHT SIGNAL WARNING ME ABOUT OIL OR ENGINE, IT JUST STARTED THE NOISE SO I STOPPED DRIVING IT SO NO FURTHER DAMAGE WAS DONE. MY CAR LIGHTS NEVER CAME ON EVER ABOUT MY OIL OR ENGINE. NOT EVEN FOR TIRE PRESSURE.
I WAS DRIVING AND MY STEERING COLUMN STARTED MAKING A STRANGE NOISE. THE STEERING WHEEL HAS A LOT OF PLAY IN IT. I WAS ONLY ABOUT TWO MILES FROM HOME, SO LUCKILY I MADE IT. UPON A GOOGLE SEARCH I REALIZE THERE WAS A RECALL OPEN ON THE STEERING COUPLING. I MADE AN APPOINTMENT TO HAVE MY CAR LOOKED AT. WHEN I DROPPED IT OFF, I WAS NOTIFIED I WASN'T COVERED UNDER RECALL BECAUSE I WAS PAST THE 100,000 MILE WARRANTY FOR THE COUPLING. IT'S EXTREMELY SAD THAT I HAD TO PAY $300 TO FIX A $5 PART THAT HYUNDAI KNOWS IS DEFECTIVE.

I HAD SMELLING A GAS SMELL COMING FROM THE VENTS ON FRIDAY JULY 19TH ANDI TOOK IT TO FIRESTONE FOR A NEW BATTERY AND A OIL CHANGE. I CALLED THE HYUNDAI DEALERSHIP BECAUSE FIRESTONE TOLD ME ABOUT A NEW RECALL FOR THE FIRE PRESSURE FUEL REGULATOR AND THEY HIGHLY SUGGESTED I TAKE IT INTO THEM. I CALLED HYUNDAI AND THEY SAID FOR ME TO BRING IT IN AND I DIDN'T NEED AN APPOINTMENT SO I TOLD THEM I WOULD BE THERE AROUND 3-4PM YESTERDAY. SO I LEFT WORK EARLY, PICKED UP MY CAR FROM FIRESTONE AND HEADED TO THE DEALERSHIP WHICH WAS ABOUT 10 MILES AWAY. I GOT ON I-35 DOING ABOUT 40MPH OR SO BECAUSE OF TRAFFIC. ALL OF A SUDDEN THE CAR NEXT TO ME STARTS HONKING AND WAVING SAYING MY CARS OF FIRE. I TRY TO APPLY THE BREAK BUT THERE WAS NO PRESSURE. MY INSTRUMENT COLUMN LIT UP LIKE THE 4TH OF JULY AND THEN ALMOST IMMEDIATELY SMOKE STARTS COMING IN FROM THE VENTS, DASHBOARD AND FLOOR. SO MY ONLY OPTION IS TO TUCK AND ROLL DOING ABOUT 35-40MPH ON ONE OF THE BUSIEST HIGHWAYS IN AUSTIN. SO I TUCK AND ROLL, PEOPLE ARE STOPPED TO HELP. I SEE MY CAR CONTINUE TO ROLL INTO THE BARRIER AND WHILE CAR BURST INTO FLAMES.
MY BRAKES ACTING ALMOST HIT THE CURVE WHEN I WAS TRYING TO STOP,THE TRANSMISSION STALLED ALMOST CAUSING ANOTHER CAR TO HIT ME FROM BEHIND AS I DROVE DOWN THE HIGHWAY ALSO THE ENGINE IS USING EXCESSIVE OIL AFRAID THE ENGINE WILL LOCK UP CAUSING AN ACCIDENT .

SOUTH CHARLOTTE HYUNDAI (8525 SOUTH BLVD, CHARLOTTE, NC 28273, 980-224-5870) WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
THE AIRBAG LIGHT WILL NOT GO OUT. IT CAME ON WHILE I WAS DRIVING ON A CITY STREET. MY DAUGHTER WAS IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT. WE BOTH HAD OUR SEATBELTS ON. I'M CONCERNED FOR OUR SAFETY. NOT SURE WHAT THE AIRBAG LIGHT IS TRYING TO WARN.
SINCE,I HAVE OWNED THE CAR I HAVE,NOTICED THE STEERING WHEEL FEELING LOOSE. OVER,THE LAST SEVERAL MONTHS I HAVE EXPERIENCED UNCONTROLLABLE RATTLING AND INCREASED SHAKING. I TOOK MY CAR IN TO BE LOOKED AT AND 3 DIFFERENT SHOPS TOLD ME MY STEERING RACK WAS ABOUT TO GO. AFTER SOME RESEARCH ON MY MAKE AND MODEL, IT IS DETERMINED THAT SOME 2011 SONATAS MADE BETWEEN CERTAIN DATES HAD FAULTY STEERING RACKS FROM THE START. THE CAR IS ALMOST UNDRIVEABLE AND HYUNDAI CONTINUES TO IGNORE THIS PROBLEM WHEN IT SHOULD GO INTO RECALL. THERE ARE OVER 1100 COMPLAINTS TO THE SAME ISSUE.
VEHICLE WILL SHUT DOWN WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD. NO WARNING LIGHTS OR SOUNDS. THE ENGINE WILL JUST SHUT DOWN COMPLETELY. ENGINE STARTS UP AGAIN BUT WILL AGAIN SHUT DOWN WHILE DRIVING. NO CODES WILL COME UP ON THE ECM WHEN SCANNED AT A MECHANIC SHOP. NO WAY TO TELL WHAT IS GOING ON. HYUNDAI DEALER HAS NO ANSWERS FOR ME.
RECALL CODE 136, BRAKE LIGHTS STAY ON. THIS DOES NOT SHOW UP IN MY HISTORY OF RECALLS FOR MY SONATA. THE VEHICLE REAR BRAKE LIGHTS WILL STAY ON AFTER FULL RELEASE OF THE BRAKE PEDAL. BRAKE LIGHTS MAY SHOW OFF, CAR IS THEN SHUT OFF. 2 MINUTES LATER, THE CAR BRAKE LIGHTS ARE ON (NOT ALL THE TIME, BUT FREQUENT ENOUGH). THIS IS A REOCCURRING EVENT.
ENGINE FAILURE
AIR BAG LIGHT STAYS ON, NEVER HAD AN ACCIDENT. HAD THE ENGINE REPLACED BECAUSE OF FAILURE. HYUUNDAI REPLACED ENGINE BUT NOW HAVE AIR BAG PROBLEM. CAR WAS MOVING WHEN LIGHT CAME ON.
TAKATA RECALL WHEN TURNING THE STEERING WHEEL THE HORN PLAYS WHILE DRIVING. YET WHEN YOU PRESS THE HORN IT DOESN'T PLAYS.
CAR RANDOMLY WOULD NOT ACCELERATE AND CAR CAME TO A STOP AND JUST WOULD NOT CUT BACK ON. THERE IS A ENGINE RECALL ON MY CAR
SONATA RECALL. ALL OF A SUDDEN MY STEERING WHEELS MAKES THIA CLICKING NOISE WHEN TURNING AND ON ROUGH ROADS. THERE IS A CLAMP THE SNAPPED AND MY MECHANIC FIXES THOSE ALL THE TIME. I WAS DRIVING AND OT NOW SOUNDS LIKE MY STEERING WHEEL IS ABOUT TO FALL OFF.
DRIVING ON A BUSY 4 LANE HIGHWAY AT 50 MPH AND MOTOR SEIZED WITH NO WARNING. THIS VEHICLE HAS HAD A MOTOR RECALL AND WAS BROUGHT TO A AUTHORIZED DEALER IN 2016 FOR AN INSPECTION AFTER WE RECEIVED THE FIRST NOTICE. WE WERE TOLD THAT OUR VEHICLE WAS FINE AND NO REPAIRS WERE DONE AT THAT TIME. WE RECEIVED A SECOND NOTICE FOR THE SAME ISSUE A FEW MONTHS AGO STATING THAT HYUNDAI WAS EXTENDING THE WARRANTEE FOR THE MOTOR BECAUSE OF THE SAME MOTOR ISSUE IT WAS CHECKED FOR IN 2016. WE ARE OVER THE EXTENDED WARRANTEE MILEAGE AS THIS VEHICLE IS USED DAILY AS A COMMUTER VEHICLE TRAVELING THE TURNPIKE DAILY AT 70 MPH HAD THIS HAPPENED ON THE TURNPIKE THE RESULTS COULD HAVE BEEN VERY BAD AS MOST VEHICLES TRAVELING THE TURNPIKE ARE TRAVELING AT GREATER SPEEDS THAN 70 MPH. HYUNDAI NEEDS TO BE ACCOUNTABLE FOR ALL VEHICLES WITH THIS MOTOR ISSUE REGARDLESS OF THE MILEAGE IT IS A TRUE DEFECT AND SAFETY ISSUE.
TAKATA RECALL, MY VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION WHEN MY AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT CAME ON 3 WEEK AGO WHILE DRIVING ON CITY STREET AND HAVE NOT COME OFF SINCE THEN. I HAVE ALSO LOOKED AT THE CAR HISTORY AND HAVE NOTICED 14 RECALLS ON THIS VEHICLE INCLUDING THE AIRBAGS. WHILE IN MOTION, MY DOORS UNLOCK BY THEMSELVES. LASTLY, THE TRANSMISSION SHIFT GEAR SOMETIMES DISAPPEAR FROM THE DASHBOARD AS WELL AS THE SHIFT GEAR WHICH IN MOST CASE THE CAR WOULDNT START OR JERKS WHEN IT DISAPPEAR WHILE IN MOTION
THE BRAKE LIGHT EXPLODES EVERY COUPLE OF MONTHS.
The contact owns a 2011 Hyundai Sonata. The contact stated that the vehicle experienced excessive oil consumption. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer where it was diagnosed with carbon build-up in the chamber. The vehicle was repaired but the failure recurred. Additionally, there were two oil consumption tests performed. The contact was informed about a complete engine tear down. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to NHTSA for assistance. The approximate failure mileage was 125,595.
THE STEERING HAS BEEN FAILING OVER THE COURSE OF SEVERAL MONTHS. THERE IS A LOUD CLUNKING SOUND WHEN TURNING THE WHEEL AND THE STEERING IS EXTREMELY LOOSE. THERE IS NOT AN OPEN RECALL AT THIS POINT FOR THIS PART. RESEARCH INDICATES THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM AND CONTINUES TO WORSEN AS THE PART ERODES AWAY. SHAME ON HYUNDAI FOR NOT ADDRESSING THIS KNOWN ISSUE.
THE DASHBOARD OVER THE PASSENGER'S SIDE IS CRACKING - VEHICLE HAS LESS THAN 90,000 MILES ON IT.
IN MOTION CAR SURGES AND JERKS FORWARD RANDOMLY. THERE IS A GAS SMELL WHEN DRIVING AND CAR BEGINS TO SHAKE WHEN ENGINE IS ENGAGED. BACKUP CAMERA WILL NOT ENGAGE AT RANDOM TIMES OR CAR WILL NOT TURN ON WITH PUSH TO START SYSTEM. DIAGNOSES ENGINE AND ELECTRICAL ISSUE BUT HYUNDAI WON'T INCLUDE IN THEIR RECALL CAMPAIGN.
THIS ISSUE HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR MONTHS NOW. AND I HAVE DRIVEN AROUND SEEING MANY OTHER HYUNDAI SONATAS WITH HE SAME ISSUE. WHEN I HIT MY BRAKE, THE BRAKE LIGHTS WILL NOT GO OUT. I HAVE FINALLY FIGURED OUT HOW TO GET THEM TO GO OUT (PULLING MY BRAKE UPWARDS WITH MY FOOT). THIS HAS RESULTED IN MY LIGHTS STAYING ON AND MY CAR DYING A FEW TIMES. IT IS A VERY DANGEROUS PROBLEM AS OTHERS ARE NOT ABLE TO TELL WHEN I AM BRAKING BECAUSE MY BRAKE LIGHTS STAY ON WIHTOUT PUTTING MY FOOT UNDER THE BRAKE AND PULLING UP ON IT.
WHILE IN DRIVE AND PARK, BRAKES LIGHTS AND TAIL LIGHTS KEEP GOING OUT. HAVE REPLACED BULBS 4 TIMES IN LESS THAN A YEAR. BOTH SEAT BELT LIGHTS CONSTANTLY FLASHES EVEN WHEN BUCKLED UP. AIR BAGS AND TIRE PRESSURE LIGHT WILL NOT GO OUT AFTER RESETTING REPEATEDLY. DOME LIGHTS NO LONGER WORK IN AUTOMATIC
I WAS DRIVING MY VEHICLE DOWNTOWN AND MY EPS LIGHT CAME ON ALONG AS WELL AS FLICKERING OF MY LOW TIRE PRESSURE AND ABS LIGHT WHICH I BELIEVE IS BREAKS FAILING. BUT I HAD FAILURE OF MY POWER STEERING FOR SURE. OUT OF NOWHERE I COULD NO LONGER NAVIGATE HEAVY AND SLOW TRAFFIC. I TURNED THE CAR OFF AND BACK ON ONLY TO HAVE ALL OF MY GEARS LOCK UP AND NOT ALLOW ME TO EVEN ATTEMPT AT MOVING IT, AFTER TURNING IT OFF THE SECOND TIME CAR ENTIRELY DIED AND WILL NOT START AT ALL. WE MANAGED TO GET THE GEARS UNLOCKED AFTER A FEW ATTEMPTS WITH JUST THE BATTERY ON AND PUSH IT OFF THE BUSY ROAD TO CALL FOR A TOW TRUCK. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE POTAMKIN HYUNDAI LOCATED AT 6200 NW 167TH ST, MIAMI LAKES, FL 33014, WHERE THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE CONSUMER AFFAIRS OF THE MANUFACTURER CALLED THE CONTACT BACK AND STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER OFFERED TO COVER HALF OF THE REPAIR COST. I WAS DRIVING WEST ON SUNNYSIDE ROAD AFTER LEAVING THE PARKING LOT OF NEW SEASONS. I COULD SEE THAT THE LIGHT WAS RED AND I PULLED OUT ONTO SUNNYSIDE ROAD. I PUSHED HARD ONTO THE BRAKES BUT THE CAR CONTINUED FOREWARD UNDER THE PICKUP IN FRONT OF ME. EVEN WITH THE AIRBAGS DEPLOYED I HAD NO CONTROL. I WAS PUSHING THE TRUCK FOREWARD. THE OTHER DRIVER TURNED ONTO 157TH AVE AND I WAS STILL UNABLE TO STOP THE CAR. I ALSO TURNED RIGHT ONTO 157TH AVE. IT WAS UP HILL I TURNED OFF THE KEY AND IT CAME TO A STOP. MY WIFE WAS PANNICKING AND SO WAS I. THE CAR WAS FILLED WITH SMOKE AND A LOT OF HEAT. MY WIFE WAS SCREAMING FOR SOMEONE TO CALL 911. THE DRIVER OF THE TRUCK RUSHED BACK TO SEE IF WE WERE ALL OK. HE CALLED 911. MY WIFE WAS SORE AS THE AIRBAGS DEPLOYED AND HIT HER IN THE CHEST. SHE HAD PAIN IN HER NECK TOO. I WAS OK AT THE MOMENT. I WAS WORRIED ABOUT THE OTHER DRIVER. HE SAID THAT HE WAS FINE. HE SAID THAT HE HAD TO HONK HIS HORN TO GET THE CAR IN FRONT OF HIM TO MOVE. THEY DID AND HE WAS ABLE TO TURN RIGHT. I AM UPSET WITH RON TONKIN HYUNDAI AS I HAVE HAD TO WAIT ALMOST A MONTH TO GET AN APPOINTMENT FOR MY OIL CHANGE AND THE RECALLS TAKEN CARE OF. THE FIRST RECALL WAS FOR THE AIR BAGS. THE SECOND RECALL WAS FOR THE HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PIPE MAY HAVE BEEN DAMAGED MISALIGNED OR IMPROPERLY TORQUED WHEN THE ENGINE WAS REPLACED ALLOWING THE FUEL TO LEAK. I AM VERY UPSET WITH RON TONKIN HYUNDAI AS I HAVE HAD TO WAIT FOR ALMOST A MONTH TO GET AN APPOINTMENT. JENNIFER LOPEZ THE SERVICE ADVISOR. MY APPOINTMENT WAS SET FOR JUNE 26TH 4 DAYS AFTER THE ACCIDENT. I WENT IN TO CHANGE THE CARS AS I HAVE A 2004 ELANTRA. I HAVE FREE OIL CHANGES ON BOTH CARS. SHE TOLD ME THAT THE RECALLS WERE NOT THE REASON AND ASKED ME IF I WAS GOING TO BUY ANOTHER HYUNDAI.
I WAS INITIATING TO PARK MY CAR AND IT ACCELERATED ON ITS OWN AND TOOK ME AND MY DAUGHTER OVER A CURB. AS IT TOOK US OVER A CURB , HER SEATBELT UNBUCKLED AND CAUSED HER CAR SEAT TO FLIP OVER.
7/19 BOUGHT MY 2011 SONATA THEN TWO DAYS LATER CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. TOOK TO DEALERSHIP THEY SAID GAS CAP WAS LOOSE AND IF IT CAME BACK ON TO BRING BACK IN. 2 WEEKS LATER WENT TO GAS STATION, CAME BACK OUT CAR WOULDNT START. NO CLICK OR ANYTHING. ALL POWER WORKED AS WELL. WALKED HOME STARTED RESEARCHING, OTHER OWNERS HAD THE SAME ISSUE. WALKED BACK DETERMINED TO TRY SOME THINGS I READ ABOUT. CAR STARTED WITHOUT ME DOING ANYTHING. NO CHECK LIGHT CAME ON. NEXT DAY DRIVING CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND THATS WHEN I TOOK BACK TO DEALERSHIP. OF COURSE IT STARTED UP WHENEVER THEY TRIED IT SO THEY WROTE COULD NOT DUPLICATE CUSTOMER CONCERN. THEY RAN DIAGNOSTICS AND THEY SAID PURGE VALVE WAS FOUND TO BE SHORTNED INTERNALLY. CODE P0455. 500 BUCKS LATER BECAUSE NO WARRANTY (AS IS VEHICLE) NOT EVEN A MONTH OFF THE DAM LOT...MY INSTRUCTIONS WERE WHEN FILLING UP WITH FUEL DO NOT TOP OFF BEYOND WHEN THE FUEL PUMP SHUTS OFF. FUEL COULD ENTER THE PURGE VALVE/CANISTER VIA VENT TUBES. WTF....THEY WOULDNT COVER EVEN THOUGH THE DEALERSHIP PUT THE GAS IN WHEN I BOUGHT IT SO IT WASNT ME....LUCKY ME :(
THE CAR EXPLODED, BURNED AND IS A TOTAL LOSS. AS THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION, THE ENGINE BEGAN TO SMOKE. GAS THEN BEGAN TO LEAVE AND THE STENCH OF GAS WAS STRONG. UPON PULLING OVER IN A PARKING LOT OF A FAST FOOD RESTURAUNT, A FIRE STARTED IN THE ENGINE AREA AND THE FIRE BEGAN TO RAPIDLY SPREAD. AS I GOT OUT OF THE CAR THE CAR EXPLODED.
