WHILE DRIVING THE CAR I HEARD A KNOCKING NOISE UNDER THE HOOD , THE OIL LIGHT INDICATOR CAME ON AND THERE WAS AS OIL BURNING SMELL. THE CAR JUST STOPPED RUNNING AND STALLED OUT.
THE AIRBAGS HAVE BEEN DISABLED FOR AN UNKNOWN REASON. THE WARNING LIGHT WILL NOT TURN OFF. THE CAR HAS NOT BEEN INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT. THIS BEGAN IN APPROXIMATELY OF JUNE 2019 AND THE CAR HAD APPROXIMATELY 110,000 MILES. ANOTHER ISSUE IS THE SEAT BELT LOCKING MECHANISM DOES NOT LATCH PROPERLY TO SECURE THE SEAT BELT. IT USUALLY REQUIRES MULTIPLE EFFORTS TO BE SECURED. ADDITIONALLY, THE SEAT BELT DOES NOT RETRACT PROPERLY EITHER. THAT ALSO TAKES SEVERAL EFFORTS TO GET IT RETRACTED. THIS BEGAN WHEN THE CAR HAD APPROXIMATELY 32,000 MILES ON IT. I HAD AN EXTENDED WARRANTY ON THE VEHICLE AND DUE TO PERSONAL CIRCUMSTANCES, WAS UNABLE TO BRING IT TO THE DEALER UNTIL THE CAR HAD APPROXIMATELY 37,000 MILES. THE DEALER REFUSED TO ADDRESS THE ISSUE UNDER THE WARRANTY. THE FIRST ISSUE OCCURS WHEN THE CAR IS STARTED AND THE AIRBAG LIGHT STAYS ON UNTIL THE CAR IS TURNED OFF. The contact owns a 2011 Hyundai Sonata. The contact stated that upon starting the vehicle, the vehicle would emit abnormal loud knocking sounds. The contact also stated that the vehicle had been experiencing excessive oil consumption; the vehicle was consuming about 4 quarts of oil per week. Additionally, the contact stated while driving at approximately 50 MPH, the vehicle shuddered violently and stalled. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The contact stated that the electric power steering assist and the brake assist were no longer operable. The contact veered to the side of the road. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer who diagnosed that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The contact associated the failure with NHTSA Campaign Number: 18V934000 (Engine). The failure mileage was approximately 118,000.

THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE STEERING COUPLER NEEDED TO BE INSTALLED AND THE AIR BAG WAS FAULTY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER AND DEALER WERE NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 131,000.

THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 98,727.
I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY BETWEEN LAMAR, COLORADO AND GRANADA, COLORADO, I WAS SLOWING DOWN FROM 65 MPH TO 30 MPH PULLING INTO GRANADA. ALL THE DASHBOARD LIGHTS CAME ON AND THE CAR COMPLETELY QUIT. I COULDN'T USE THE STEERING OR THE BRAKES. I WAS ABLE TO PULL ONTO A SIDE STREET. WE COULD NOT GET THE CAR TO TURN BACK ON. WE TOWED IT TO THE MECHANIC IN WICHITA, KS.

THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED OF A WARRANTY PROGRAM TO REPLACE THE ENGINE HOWEVER, THE ENGINE WOULD ONLY BE REPLACED AFTER A COMPLETE ENGINE FAILURE. THE CONTACT WAS ALSO INFORMED THAT A LOANER VEHICLE WOULD BE PROVIDED WHILE THE ENGINE WAS BEING REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TAKEN TO ANOTHER UNKNOWN DEALER TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. ADDITIONALLY, THE CONTACT WAS NOTIFIED OF POSSIBLE OIL CONSUMPTION FAILURE. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VEHICLE WAS OUT OF WARRANTY. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 112,000.
'TAKATA RECALL' MY VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION WHEN MY AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT CAME ON MAY 30TH 2019 AND HAVE NOT COME OFF SINCE THEN. I'VE ALSO LOOKED AT THE CAR HISTORY AND HAVE NOTICED 33 RECALLS ON THIS VEHICLE INCLUDING THE AIRBAGS.

TAIL LAMP ASSEMBLY MELTED AT BULB INSERTION AREA, FREQUENTLY NEEDS BULB REPLACEMENT. HAS BECOME A NUISANCE AND HAZARD.
I WAS DRIVING SOUTH BOUND ON I-355 IN DUPAGE COUNTY WHEN I WAS ABOUT TO SWITCH OVER FROM THE 3RD FROM RIGHT LANE ONTO THE 4TH FROM RIGHT LANE TO EXIT WHEN THE LEFT BACK OF MY CAR GOT HIT CAUSING ME TO DO A 180 SPIN INTO THE MIDDLE OF LANE TWO FROM LEFT HITTING ANOTHER VEHICLE BUT NO AIR BAGS DEPLOYED OUT. IDK IF IT'S RULED A TOTAL LOST OR NOT. INSURANCE HAVE TO GET BACK TO ME. ME AND MY 2YR DAUGHTER WAS IN THE CAR

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 153,957.
WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS ON THE US 101 NORTHBOUND INTO SAN FRANCISCO MY 2011 SONATA SUDDENLY BEGAN VEERING OUT OF ITS LANE AND WAS HARD TO STEER OR CONTROL. I WAS ABLE TO BRAKE AND STEER JUST ENOUGH TO GET TO THE RIGHT HIGHWAY SHOULDER WITHOUT HITTING ANYTHING AS THERE WERE NO CARS IMMEDIATELY TO MY RIGHT. I WAS STUCK ON A DANGEROUS PART OF THE HIGHWAY SHOULDER FOR AN HOUR WAITING TO BE TOWED, WITH THE VEHICLE SEEMING DANGEROUS TO DRIVE TO A SAFER SPOT. WHILE WAITING FOR A TOW ON THE HIGHWAY SHOULDER I WAS ABLE TO LOOK AT THE REAR-LEFT WHEEL WHICH WAS INCLINED INTO THE WHEEL-WELL AT ABOUT 30 DEGREES ON THE TOP SIDE. AFTER GETTING TOWED OFF THE HIGHWAY THE TOW-TRUCK DRIVER WAS ABLE TO LOOK UNDER THE CAR AND NOTICED THAT THE UPPER REAR CONTROL ARM OF THE BACK LEFT WHEEL HAD BROKEN. THE BACK LEFT WHEEL WAS LOOSELY MOVEABLE USING JUST OUR HANDS. THIS FAILURE COULD HAVE CAUSED A MUCH MORE SERIOUS ACCIDENT! I AM WAITING TO GET A FULL INSPECTION REPORT FROM A MECHANIC.
WHEN BACKING UP AND TURNING THE STEERING WHEEL A KNOCKING OCCURS. ALSO WHEN MOVING AT A SLOW SPEED AND TURNING THE WHEELS THE KNOCKING OCCURS.
THE LEFT DOOR LOCK BEGAN TO ONLY UNLOCK SPORADICALLY WHEN PRESSING THE UNLOCK BUTTON. NOW ONLY UNLOCKS MY DOOR ABOUT 35% OF THE TIME. IT APPEARS TO BE A POOR DOOR LOCK ACTUATOR AND SEEMS TO BE WORSE WHEN THE WEATHER CHANGES. THIS ISSUE FIRST PRESENTED ITSELF ABOUT 9 MONTHS AGO AND WAS VERY SPORADIC AND NOW IS A VERY COMMON ISSUE
HEAD LIGHTS GO OUT WHEN DIRECTIONAL IS TOUCHED, FRONT END BOTTOM OUT GOING OVER DIPS IN ROADWAY, STEERING HAS LOTS OF PLAY WHEN TURNING WHEEL LEFT AND RIGHT

A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE CONTACT SUFFERED INJURIES AND RECEIVED MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT NOTIFIED. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS NOT DETERMINED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 102,000.
PRIOR TO HAVING A SAFETY RECALL ADDRESSED, REGARDING MY STEERING COLUMN, I'D EXPERIENCED MOISTURE BUILDUP AND DAMPNESS. ON THE DRIVERS SIDE OF THE FLOOR, RUNNING CONTINUING UNDER THE THE FRONT SEAT TO THE BACK. LEAVING THE CARPET WET AFTER THE SLIGHTEST RAIN OR WATER CONDITION. THE VEHICLE IS USED DAILY, BACK AND FORTH TO WORK, 20 HIGHWAY MILES ROUND-TRIP. CAN THE REPAIRED RECALL NEED REPARING AGAIN?

THE CAR SLIPS OUT OF GEAR WITH CHANGING THE SHIFTER FROM PARK TO REVERSE. THE SELECTOR WILL BE IN REVERSE AND AS THE CAR IS MOVING IT SLIPS OUT AND GOES NEUTRAL
MY KEY GETS STUCK IN THE ACC POSTION. AND WILL NOT TURN TO THE LOCK POSITION AFTER EXPERIENCING THIS AFTER 24 HOURS I FINALLY WAS ABLE TO GET THE KEY OUT. THE NEXT DAY WHEN I PUT THE KEY IN THE IGNITION IT WOULD NOT TURN TO CIT ON.

SHORTLY AFTER THE REPAIR, THE VEHICLE STALLED AND WAS UNABLE TO BE SAFELY DRIVEN. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE SAME DEALER WHERE IT WAS DETERMINED THAT FURTHER DIAGNOSTIC TESTING WAS NEEDED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 7,000.
I BOUGHT THIS CAR 3 YEARS AGO. EVER SINCE THE DAY I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE, IT MAKES LOUD CLICKING NOISES WHEN YOU TURN THE STEERING WHEEL LEFT OR RIGHT WHILE IN DRIVE AND REVERSE. IN THE 3 YEARS THAT I HAVE OWNED THIS CAR, I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE THE TIRES 4 TIMES, THE BRAKES AND ROTORS MULTIPLE TIMES PER YEAR, TIE RODS, AND CV JOINTS AND YET THE CAR STILL CLICKS WHEN YOU TURN. I HAD THE ENGINE RECALL DONE IN MAY OF THIS YEAR. THEY GAVE ME THE CAR BACK A MONTH LATER. I HAD TO TAKE IT BACK THE VERY NEXT DAY BECAUSE IT WAS LEAKING COPIOUS AMOUNTS OF OIL AND MAKING A CLANKING NOISE THAT WAS NOT PRESENT WHEN I LEFT MY VEHICLE WITH THEM FOR A MONTH. THEY "FIXED" THE OIL LEAK AND TOLD ME THE NOISE WAS FROM MY FRONT BRAKES YET AGAIN. I HAD TO RETURN THE CAR AGAIN A FEW DAYS LATER BECAUSE IT WAS STILL LEAKING OIL! SO THEY "FIXED" THE LEAK A 2ND TIME AND AGAIN SAID THE NOISE WAS FROM MY BRAKES. LESS THAN A WEEK AFTER THAT THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME BACK ON. I IMMEDIATELY TOOK IT BACK AND WAS TOLD THAT IT WAS JUST A "LOOSE GAS CAP" WHICH I NEVER EXPERIENCED PRIOR TO THE ENGINE BEING REPLACED. THEY CLEARED THE LIGHT AND SENT ME ON MY WAY. I HAD BRAND NEW BRAKES AND ROTORS PUT ON, AGAIN, AND YET THE CLANKING NOISE IS STILL THERE. 5 DAYS AGO, THE CAR BEGAN DRIVING THE WAY IT WAS BEFORE THE ENGINE RECALL, SAME ENGINE FAILURE SYMPTOMS AND MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME BACK ON A SECOND TIME 3 DAYS AGO. I HAVE NOT HAD TO FILL IT UP WITH GAS IN 8 DAYS SO THERE IS NO WAY THAT IT IS FROM A "LOOSE GAS CAP." MY SEAT BELT LOCKS UP AND STAYS LOCKED UP IF I LEAN FORWARD. I SHOULD ALSO MENTION THAT WHEN I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE I HAD TO INFORM THE MANAGER THAT THE FRONT BUMPER WAS ONLY ATTACHED TO THE CAR BECAUSE SOMEONE DRILLED SCREWS INTO IT TO KEEP IT ON. HE HAD NO IDEA!! I MADE THEM REPLACE IT BEFORE I WOULD BUY THE VEHICLE. THE PAINT IS CONSTANTLY CHIPPING OFF OF THE "NEW BUMPER" THEY PUT ON IT.
OUT OF NOWHERE, THE AIRBAG LIGHT HAS COME ON, AND WON'T TURN OFF AFTER THE ENGINE IS IGNITED.
EARLY SUMMER OF 2019, I NOTICED A SMALL CRACK ALONG MY DASHBOARD, COMING FROM THE WINDSHIELD TOWARD THE SEAT. IT WAS ABOUT 2 INCHES LONG. BY AUGUST OF 2019, THE CRACK HAD GROWN TO APPROXIMATELY A FOOT. I HAVE CONTACTED HYUNDAI AND GONE TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THE ONLY THING THEY WOULD DO IS GIVE ME AN ESTIMATE ON REPAIR. THE ODD THING ABOUT THIS IS WHEN GOOGLING THIS ISSUE, IT IS QUITE COMMON. *TR
COMPLETED THE 953 CAMPAIGN RECALL TO UPGRADE SOFTWARE TO MONITOR FOR EXCESSIVE BEARING WEAR. AS DESCRIBED IN THE CAMPAIGN LETTER, A WARNING INDICATOR INDICATING A PROBLEM CAM E ON WHILE DRIVING (ON A HIGHWAY). AGAIN, AS INDICATED IN THE RECALL CAMPAIGN LETTER, THE VEHICLE OPERATED AT NO MORE THAN 60 MPH AND WITH REDUCED RPM. TOOK THE VEHICLE IMMEDIATELY TO THE NEAREST DEALER FOR EVALUATION/REPAIR AS INSTRUCTED IN THE RECALL LETTER. LEFT THE CAR WITH THE DEALER IN NC, WAITED SEVERAL DAYS TO HEAR FROM THE DEALER AND AFTER GETTING NO INFORMATION FROM THE DEALER, RENTED A CAR AND RETURNED HOME (VA). THE VEHICLE WAS DROPPED OFF AT THE DEALER ON APRIL 26. AS OF TODAY (MAY 8) WE STILL HAVE NOT RECEIVED A DIAGNOSIS PF THE PROBLEM FROM HYUNDAI. THE DEALER REFUSED TO OFFER A LOANER CAR WHILE WAITING IN NC.
THE FUEL GAUGE ON THE DASH BOARD STOPPED ACCURATELY SHOWING HOW MUCH FUEL IS IN THE TANK. THE TANK MAY BE FULL, BUT THE GAUGE WILL SHOW IT AS HALF FULL, OR THREE-QUARTERS FULL. SOMETIMES IT CHANGES MID-DRIVE, AND STARTS TO GO UP. I CAN'T TRUST THE GAUGE ANYMORE.

THE CONTACT CALLED RANDY WISE HYUNDAI (4350 LENNON RD, FLINT, MI 48507, (810) 230-2500) AND INFORMED THE DEALER OF THE FAILURE AND TO SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V568000 (ENGINE) HOWEVER, THE REPAIR FAILED TO FIX THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND PROVIDED A CASE NUMBER: THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 164,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 HYUNDAI SONATA. WHILE OPERATING THE VEHICLE, THE CONTACT HEARD A KNOCKING NOISE COMING FROM THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO TWO INDEPENDENT MECHANICS AND BOTH DIAGNOSED THAT A NEW ENGINE WAS NEEDED. THE MECHANICS STATED THAT THE ENGINE OIL NEEDED TO BE CHANGED EVERY MONTH AND THE OIL WAS LEAKING INTO THE ENGINE. THE OIL LEVEL WAS VERY LOW AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED CONSTANTLY. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED TO REPEAT THE PROCESS UNTIL A NEW ENGINE WAS INSTALLED. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE VEHICLE KEPT PULLING TO THE LEFT AND ALIGNMENTS HAD TO BE PERFORMED MUCH SOONER THAN NORMAL. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 130,000.
CAR ACCELERATES AND THEN STALLS AT HIGH RATE OF SPEED. DEALER SAYS NOT AN ISSUE WITH THE ENGINE AND THEY CANNOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG. ALSO GOES TO VERY HIGH RPM'S, WHILE DRIVING. ASKED ABOUT WHEN HAPPENED. IT HAPPENS ALL THE TIME FOR THE PAST THREE YEARS.
I NEVER RECEIVED INFORMATION REGARDING THE RECALLS ON MY HYUNDAI SONATA 2011 VEHICLE. I WAS DRIVING MY HYUNDAI SONATA 2011 ON 4/11/19, GOING ABOUT 60 MILES AN HOUR AND THE CUT SHUT OFF. WAS IN HEAVY CONGESTED TRAFFIC AND I WAS ALMOST REAR ENDED WITH NO CONTROL OF THE HYUNDAI SONATA 2011VEHICLE. MY HYUNDAI SONATA 2011 WAS MOVED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD WHERE A TOW TRUCK WAS CALLED. SUBSEQUENTLY, HYUNDAI SONATA 2011WAS TAKEN TO THE HUNTINGTON DEALERSHIP. DEALER INFORMED ME THERE WAS 7 RECALLS OF WHICH I NOT AWARE OF IN REGARDS HYUNDAI SONATA 2011 THIS COULD HAVE BEEN A LIFE THREATEN SITUATION AND HYUNDAI SHOULD NOTIFIED ME OF ALL RECALLS. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE AND LIFE THREATING TO FAMILY FRIENDS AND COMMUNITY.
THE STEERING COLUMN IS MAKING CLUNKING SOUNDS WHEN TURNING RIGHT OR LEFT AND THE VEHICLE HAS LOST STEERING RESPONSE. MY OWN READING TELLS ME THAT IT IS THE BUSHING IN THE COLUMN, WHICH HAS BEEN WORN DOWN OR BROKEN; LONG STORY SHORT - THIS IS NOT A UNIQUE PROBLEM TO ME. THE VEHICLE UNSAFE TO DRIVE AT THIS POINT.
OUT OF NOWHERE I STARTED HEARING A KNOCKING NOISE FROM MY ENGINE. MY CAR HAD OIL SO I DIDN'T UNDERSTAND WHY IT WAS KNOCKING. FEW DAYS LATER I WAS LEAVING WORK HEADING HOME AND MY VEHICLE JUST STOP ON THE HIGHWAY. I WAS PRESSING ON THE GAS AND NOTHING DIDN'T HAPPENED. SO I HAD TO PULL OVER; AS I WAS PULLING OVER LIGHT SMOKE WAS COMING FROM UNDER MY HOOD BUT MY CAR WASN'T RUNNING HOT. I SIT THERE 10 MINUTES BEFORE STARTING MY CAR BACK UP. THAT'S WHEN MY CAR WOULDN'T START OVER. I TRIED AGAIN AND IT STARTED BUT WOULDN'T MOVE THE LIGHT ON MY DASHBOARD WHERE BLINKING ON AND OFF FOR NO REASON. PREVIOUS BEFORE ANY OF THIS STARTED I ALSO DID NOT HAVE THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT NOR OIL LIGHT WAS ON. I HAD MY CAR TOWED THE NEXT DAY TO MY HOME. THAT'S WHEN I HAD A MECHANIC TO COME AND LOOK AT MY CAR. THE FIRST THING HE DO IS CHECK THE OIL SAID MY OIL WAS GOOD. HE DIDN'T UNDERSTAND WHY MY CAR WOULDN'T MOVE. THEN THE MECHANIC STARTED MY CAR UP AND IT MADE AND EVEN LOUDER NOISE WENT FROM LIGHT TAPPING KNOCKING TO SOMETHING UNEXPLAINABLE LIKE THE ENGINE JUST WANTED TO FALL OUT THE BOTTOM. MY MECHANIC HAD ME TO START MY CAR UP ONCE MORE AS HE LOOKED UNDER THE HOOD AGAIN TO SEE WHAT'S WRONG AS HE SAID STOP THE CAR. ALL THE OIL IN MY CAR HAS SPILLED INTO MY DRIVEWAY. THAT'S WHEN HE TOLD ME MY ENGINE HAS BLOWN A ROD.
I REPLACE LIGHT BULBS ON MY CAR EVERY MONTH IF IT'S NOT THE HEADLIGHTS, IT THE BRAKE OR TAIL LIGHT. I KNOW A FEW PEOPLE WHO OWN SONATAS AND WE ALL HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. BEING THAT THIS IS AN ISSUE FOR MORE THAN ONE CUSTOMER, INSTEAD OF HYUNDAI MAKING MONEY OFF THEIR MALFUNCTION, THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL ON THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM DEALING WITH THE LIGHTS. I HAVE ALMOST BEEN RUN INTO AND HIT BY OTHER CARS BECAUSE WE CANNOT SEE EACH OTHER.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 HYUNDAI SONATA. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE REAR BRAKE LIGHTS REMAINED ILLUMINATED. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. AN UNKNOWN LOCAL DEALER DIAGNOSED THAT THE REAR BRAKE PADS NEEDED TO BE REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 87,000.
I PULLED OUT ON TO A 4 LANE HIGHWAY AND THE ENGINE STALLED AND THE CAR COASTED ACROSS. AFTER A FEW SECONDS CAR REGAINED POWER AND WENT ON BUT STILL LOSING POWER. WHEN DRIVING ON INTERSTATE CAR KEEPS STALLING AT HIGH RATES OF SPEED. WHEN I CUT ON LIGHTS WHILE DRIVING CAR STALLS/LOSES POWER FOR A FEW SECONDS THEN GOES ON. BRAKE LIGHTS AREN'T WORKING ALL THE TIME PLUS 3RD BRAKE LIGHT KEEPS STICKING. I NEED ANSWERS TO THIS BEFORE WE GET SERIOUSLY HURT!!!!!
MY CAR HAD A ENGINE RECALL. HOWEVER, THE RECALL WAS ONLY EXTENDED TO 10 YEARS OF THE DATE AND TO 120,000 MILES ON THE CAR. I BOUGHT THE CAR WITH 115,000 MILES ON THE CAR FROM BAYWAY LINCOLN AND DID NOT RECEIVE ANY PAPERWORK DETAILING ABOUT THE ENGINE RECALL. I TYPED IN MY CAR IN VIN AND A RECALL CAME UP FOR THE PAST, BUT MY CAR IS NOT VALID ANYMORE. HYUNDAI SAYS THAT WILL NOT FIX THE RECALL BECAUSE ITS PASS 120,000 MILES. IF I NEVER RECEIVED ANY PAPERWORK IN THE MAIL FROM HYUNDAI DETAILING ABOUT THE RECALL HOW WOULD I HAVE KNOWN TO GET IT FIXED. I WAS NOT INFORMED ABOUT THIS RECALL AND TWO OTHER RECALLS. NOW, I HAVE TO EITHER BUY A BRAND-NEW ENGINE OR GET A NEW CAR BECAUSE I WAS NOT INFORMED OF THE RECALL AND NOW HYUNDAI REFUSES TO HOLD UP THEIR END. I SHOULD HAVE BEEN INFORMED OF THIS BY HYUNDAI.
MARCH 27, 2019, ABOUT 3:00PM, I WAS DRIVING THROUGH A TRAFFIC LIGHT 25 MPH & THE ENGINE STALLED SHUTTING OFF. WOULD NOT RESTART. AN HOUR LATER THE TOW TRUCK DRIVER TRIED TO RESTART WAS UNSUCCESSFUL.

ALL SERVICE RECORDS INDICATE THAT MY2011 SONATA HAS BEEN WELL MAINTAINED TO THE EXTENT THAT I AM GETTING OFFERS FROM THE DEALERSHIP THAT IT IS NEEDED FOR PARTS. WHILE ON THE WAY HOME FROM A PURCHASE OFFER EVENT ON SATURDAY 3/23/19 AFTER EXITING THE HIGHWAY TO A MAJOR THOROUGHFARE BY A BUSY MALL THE ENGINE COMPLETELY SHUT OFF . LUCKILY I HAD JUST PULLED INTO A TURNING LANE. POLICE HAD TO COME TO STOP TRAFFIC AND PUSH CAR OFF THE ROAD.

I WAS DRIVING MY 2011 SONATA AT A SLOW SPEED IN A PARKING LOT WHEN I HEARD THE SOUND OF METAL HITTING THE GROUND UNDERNEATH MY VEHICLE. I WALKED OUT TO FIND A FRACTURED FRONT PASSENGER SIDE SPRING COIL WHICH HAD COMPLETELY SNAPPED OFF. THIS COULD HAVE BEEN CATASTROPHIC HAD THIS HAPPENED ON THE BUSY INTERSTATE WHICH IS WHERE I WAS HEADED. I REALIZE MANY OTHERS HAVE HAD THIS ISSUE WITH THE 2011 SONATA IN "SALT BELT STATES". I AM IN WISCONSIN. THIS DEFECT IS REFERENCED UNDER HYUNDAI RECALL 133, THOUGH I, LIKE MANY OTHERS, HAVE A VIN THAT IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL, DESPITE THE NUMEROUS INCIDENTS OF THIS HAPPENING WITH VEHICLES OUTSIDE OF THE RECALL VIN RANGE. CLEARLY THESE ARE NOT ISOLATED DEFECTS. THIS IS A POTENTIALLY CATASTROPHIC MANUFACTURING DEFECT THAT COULD EASILY PUNCTURE A TIRE AND RESULT IN DEATH IF IT OCCURS AT A HIGH SPEED. IT IS UNACCEPTABLE FOR THIS PROBLEM TO BE IGNORED BY HYUNDAI. THE RANGE OF VINS AFFECTED BY THIS DEFECT IS LIKELY MUCH BROADER THAN HYUNDAI HAS TAKEN RESPONSIBILITY.
