TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 HYUNDAI SONATA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE CENTER STEERING WHEEL CAP THAT SECURED THE DRIVER SIDE AIR BAG WAS NOT PROPERLY SECURED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO VALISE HYUNDAI (683 EAST COLUMBUS AVE, SPRINGFIELD, MA) WHO INDICATED THE POSITION OF THE CAP WAS NORMAL. THE FAILURE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000. *BF. COMSUMER RECEIVED RECALL NOTICE IN JANUARY 2019 AND ON FEBRUARY 6, 2019 HAD THE VEHICLE SERVICED AND CONSUMER INSPECTED THE AIRBAG COVER IMMEDIATELY . THE CIRCULAR OBJECT THAT WAS VISIBLE IN THE FIRST SET OF PICTURES FROM JAN 28,2019, WAS NO LONGER VISIBLE TO THE EYE. CONSUMER STATED STEERING WHEEL WAS TAMPERED WITH. POLICE OFFICER WAS CALLED TO THE SCENE AND OFFICER TOLD CONSUMER SHE NEEDED TO FILE A CIVIL COMPLAINT.*JB
MY ENGINE COMPLETELY SEIZED WHILE DRIVING. NO WARNING LIGHTS, NO OIL LIGHT. NOTHING
CAR ENGULFED IN FLAMES AS I DROVE HOME FROM WORK LAST NIGHT. FIRST THE BRAKES WENT OUT, SMOKE THEN FLAMES. MY ENGINE WAS NEW. INSTALLED DUE TO RECALL IN 2017
I RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE FROM HYUNDAI THAT THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE AIRBAG BEING IN DANGER OF "ELECTRICAL OVERSTRESS" CAUSING OPERATION FAILURE. THE LETTER SAID THEY WERE WORKING ON A FIX. PRIOR TO RECEIVING THE LETTER FOR THE FIX, MY AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT CAME ON WHILE I WAS DRIVING. I CALLED MIKE BROWN HYUNDAI (GRANBURY, TX) AND THEY SAID THEY COULD DO THE WARRANTY WORK. I TOOK MY CAR IN AND THEY SAID THEY DID THE RECALL WORK. HOWEVER MY AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT IS STILL ON. I FEEL THAT MY AIRBAG OVERHEATED PRIOR THE RECALL WORK THAT IS SUPPOSED TO PREVENT IT. THE DEALER WANTED TO CHARGE ME FOR A DIAGNOSIS AND HYUNDAI CONSUMER AFFAIRS WOULD NOT OFFER ASSISTANCE. I BELIEVE MY AIRBAG SYSTEM HAS A CATASTROPHIC FAILURE AND IS UNSAFE.
TWICE NOW CAR HAD JUST STOPPED RUNNING TOOK TO DEALER SAID IT WAS FUEL PUMP TWO WEEKS LATER SAME THING AT DEALER NOW BEING TOWED I THANK GOD I WASN'T IN AN ACCIDENT
TAIL LIGHT ALWAYS KEEP GOING OUT AND HEAD LIGHT ENGINES KEEP ACTING FUNNY MY SEATBELT DON'T LOCK OR KEEP ME IN PLACE
TAIL LIGHTS CONSTANTLY BURNING OUT DUE TO MELTED TAIL LIGHT ASSEMBLIES IN MY 2011 HYUNDAI SONATA. I COULD CHANGE THE BULB AND IT WOULD ONLY WORK FOR A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME. TAIL LIGHT ASSEMBLIES HAD TO BE REPLACED AT A COST OF $448.81. NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS POSTED ONLINE FOR THE SAME ISSUE. I HAVE ALSO EMAILED HYUNDAI DIRECTLY. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE.
WHILE DRIVING ON THE STREET AND HIGHWAY. THE HEADLIGHTS FLICKER, AND THE RADIO/CLOCK LIGHTS FLICKER ON AND OFF WHEN THE TURN SIGNALS ARE USED.IT SEEMS LIKE MOSTLY ON RIGHT TURNS.I NOTICED A SIMILAR COMPIANT WHEN READING THE COMPLAINTS FOR THE SAME EXACT CAR. I HAD MY CAR IN FOR AN UNRELATED ISSUED AND I MENTIONED IT TO THE SERVICE CENTER. I FOUND OUT ABOUT ANOTHER RECALL THAT I DID NOT KNOW ABOUT. WHY ARE THERE SO MANY RECALL..
FRONT PASSENGER SIDE DASHBOARD SUDDENLY HAS A LARGE CRACK DIRECTLY ABOVE THE PASSENGER AIRBAG.
HYUNDAI ANNOUNCED A RECALL IN FEBRUARY 2018. TO DATE THERE HAS BEEN NO COMMUNICATION WHATSOEVER FROM HYUNDAI ON THE REMEDY OR REPAIR FOR THIS RECALL.
FOUND OUT I HAD A RECALL ON MY AIRBAG AND THERE'S A RECALL ON MY STEERING COLUMN CALLED THE COMPANY AND THEY SAY THERE'S NOTHING THEY CAN DO FOR ME FOR THE STEERING
AFTER I HAD MY ENGINE REPLACED PURSUANT TO THE RECALL IN 2017. PRIOR TO 2017 I NEVER HAD A PROBLEM WITH MY CAR. ONCE THEY PUT THE NEW ENGINE IN MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, THEY REPLACED 4 DIFFERENT PARTS AT DIFFERENT TIMES AND STILL MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. THEY FOUND THAT THERE WAS A SMALL AREA IN MY HARNESS WIRE THAT A MOUSE HAD DAMAGED. I DROPPED MY CAR OFF IN OCTOBER 2018 TO HAVE THE FRONT AND BACK WIRE HARNESSES REPLACED. SINCE THAT TIME HYUNDAI CANNOT GET THE WIRE HARNESSES DELIVERED TO FIX MY CAR. I HAVE BEEN WITHOUT MY CAR FOR FIVE MONTHS NOW AND HAD NO IDEA WHEN THEY WILL RECEIVE THE WIRE HARNESSES. I HAVE TO DRIVE AN ELANTRA WITHOUT LUMBAR SUPPORT FOR THE LAST FIVE MONTHS, WHICH HAS CAUSED ME BACK PAIN SINCE I HAVE HAD 6 BACK SURGERIES. ADDITIONALLY MY CAR HAS NOT BEEN ABLE TO BE REGISTERED SINCE 2017 SINCE IT WILL NOT PASS SMOG WITH THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON.
DRIVING DOWN HIGHWAY AND STARTED HEARING A TICKING, THEN CAR DIED. I BARELY GOT OFF A BUSY HIGHWAY. SAW SMOKE, HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED. TOLD MY ENGINE LOCKED UP. I HAVEN'T HAD ANY PROBLEMS WITH MY ENGINE SINCE I BOUGHT THIS CAR NEW. IT HAS BEEN SERVICED AT A LOCAL STATION ROUTINELY.
WHILE DRIVING AT NIGHT, THE HEADLIGHTS, AS WELL AS INTERIOR DASH AND RADIO LIGHTS, WOULD FLICKER. MOST OF THE TIME THIS IS TRIGGERED BY USING THE TURN SIGNAL. AT TIMES THE LIGHTS MAY TURN OFF ALTOGETHER AND HAVE TO BE TURNED BACK ON BY JOSTLING THE TURN SIGNAL. THIS HAPPENS WHILE THE CAR IS IN MOTION.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2011 HYUNDAI SONATA. WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH, THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE REAR ENDED ANOTHER VEHICLE, WHICH THEN STRUCK A THIRD VEHICLE. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. THERE WERE A TOTAL OF FOUR INJURIES. NONE OF THE INJURIES REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO SUPERIOR HYUNDAI SOUTH (238 W MITCHELL AVE, CINCINNATI, OH 45232, (513) 598-8700) WHERE IT WAS DECLARED TOTALED AND TOWED TO A SALVAGE YARD. THE CONTACT CALLED THE MANUFACTURER REGARDING NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 18V137000 (SEAT BELTS, AIR BAGS), BUT THEY REJECTED THE CONTACT'S CLAIM FOR A RECALL REPAIR. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 84,000.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING OR REPAIRS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 81,000.
BOUGHT CAR 4/2017 5 DAYS LATER ENGINE LOCKED 4/2017 REPLACED BY HYUNDAI UNDER WARRANTY AND RECEIVED BACK 5/2017. WAS DRIVING STARTED SMELLING ANTIFREEZE, CAR NEVER SHOWED OVERHEAT, PULLED OVER, IT BLEW RADIATOR CAP OFF, BOUGHT NEW CAP, WENT BACK TO CAR, ADDED FLUID AND CAP, DRIVE 1/10 OF A MILE AND CAR CUT OFF AND WOULD NOT START BACK. MY MECHANIC PICKED UP AND REPORTS WATER IN ENGINE AND METAL IN OIL. SAME AS FIRST ENGINE. HYUNDAI CLAIMS NO WARRANTY ON THIS NEW ENGINE. THIS ENGINE HAS METAL IN OIL THE SAME AS THEIR RECALL.
OCCASIONALLY WHEN AFTER PUTTING THE CAR IN PARK AND HITTING THE PUSHBUTTON START TO TURN THE CAR OFF THE CAR TURNS OFF BUT STAYS IN ACC MODE. SO THE RADIO STAYS ON AND ILLUMINATED AND THEY PUSH BUTTON START TURNS RED ALSO ON THE DASH THE IMMOBILIZER INDICATOR POPS UP AND SAYS SHIFT INTO PARK WHEN TECHNICALLY THE CAR IS ALREADY IN PARK. WHEN GOING TO GET OUT OF THE CAR WITH THE KEY MAKES THE ALARM NOISE. THE KEY FOR WILL NOT EVEN WORK. BUT WHILE ALL OF THIS IS STILL HAPPENING I'M ABLE TO START THE CAR WITH NO PROBLEM . THIS IS A REAL INCONVENIENCE FOR ME SOMETIMES.
THIS WILL BE THE SECOND TIME IN 18 MONTHS THAT MY CAR HAS NOT STARTED AND NEEDED TO BE TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP. THEY STATED IT WAS THE ELECTRICAL ISSUES WITH THE PUSH STARTER. YOU SHOULD NOT HAVE TO REPLACE A PUSH STARTER/PARTS ASSOCIATED WITH IT THIS MANY TIMES IN A VEHICLE, LET ALONE 18 MONTHS APART. CHEAP PARTS, EXPENSIVE LABOR AND A LEMON OF A CAR WITH 13 RECALLS AND NOT EVEN 100K MILES ON THE CAR. I WOULD LIKE FOR HYUNDAI TO LOOK INTO THIS ELECTRICAL ISSUE AND WHY THIS KEEPS HAPPENING, AS I'VE SEEN OTHER OWNERS POST ABOUT IT.
DRIVER SIDE TAIL LIGHT ASSEMBLY MELTED CAUSING BRAKE LIGHT TO NOT TURN ON WHEN DEPRESSED. NO REASONABLE EXPLANATION PROVIDED BY THE HYUNDAI DEALERSHIP THAT WOULD EXPLAIN WHY COMPONENTS MELTED. I.E., 'RIDING THE BRAKES'. FOR THE MOST PART MY COMMUTE IS RURAL, FEW STOPS, MINIMAL BRAKING. REPLACING THE ASSEMBLY DOES NOT ADDRESS THE QUESTION AS TO WHY IT MELTED. MAINTENANCE IS DONE AS RECOMMENDED AND THE VEHICLE IS IN GOOD TO EXCELLENT CONDITION. THE INSTRUMENT PANEL DOES NOT ALERT DRIVER TO THIS PROBLEM THEREBY POSING A PROBLEM OF REAR END COLLISION DURING NIGHT DRIVING AND/OR PULLED OVER BY THE POLICE FOR FAULTY TAIL LIGHT.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 HYUNDAI SONATA. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 20 MPH, THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE OF THE VEHICLE WAS T-BONED BY ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED A FRACTURED RIGHT HAND DUE TO THE IMPACT OF THE DRIVER'S AIR BAG. ALSO, THE CONTACT'S LEFT FOREARM WAS BURNED BY THE SENSATION OF THE AIR BAG DEPLOYMENT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE AIR BAG DID NOT DEFLATE AFTER DEPLOYMENT. MEDICAL ATTENTION WAS REQUIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A BODY SHOP. IT WAS NOT CONFIRMED IF THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. A DEALER AND THE MANUFACTURER WERE NOT MADE AWARE OF THE CRASH. WHILE DRIVING ON HIGHWAY THE VEHICLE STALLED AND STOPPED. ENGINE LIGHTS WENT ON. THE CAR STARTED AFTER 15 MINUTES
A SHORTAGE IN THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM CAUSING THE HEADLIGHTS TO GO OUT, THE BRAKE LIGHTS TO NOT COME ON AND HAVE THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT TO COME ON, AND THE CHECK TIRE PRESSURE LIGHT TO COME ON AS WELL.
MY TRUNK WILL NO LONGER OPEN USING THE FOB, KEY OR BUTTON ON THE DASH. THERE IS NO WAY TO PUT DOWN THE REAR SEATS FROM INSIDE THE CAR. THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD, IF YOU WERE TO GET A FLAT TIRE THERE IS NO WAY OF GETTING IN THE TRUNK FOR THE SPARE TIRE. THE DEALER WANTS TO CHARGE $524.00 TO FIX IT. THIS IS A MANUFACTURER DEFECT AND SHOULD BE ADDRESSED. IT IS ALSO HAPPENING ON THE CURRENT MODEL YEARS.

THE CONTACT HAD TO APPLY FORCE TO THE AREA NEAR THE WINDOW TO GET IT TO SLOWLY GO UP AND DOWN. IN ADDITION, A CHIME WAS HEARD EACH TIME THE FRONT DRIVER AND PASSENGER SEAT BELTS WERE SECURED, AND A WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED FOR THE SEAT BELTS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBERS: 17V617000 (SEAT BELTS) AND 18V137000 (SEAT BELTS, AIR BAGS) AS WELL AS SERVICE CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 953 (ECM & CLUSTER UPDATE-ENGINE MONITORING LOGIC PRODUCT IMPROVEMENT). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE.

IN ADDITION, ALL FOUR TIRES WERE PREMATURELY WORN TO THE POINT THAT THEY MAY NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBERS: 14V434000 (POWER TRAIN), 15V568000 (ENGINE), 15V759000 (SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC), 17V152000 (SEAT BELTS), AND 18V137000 (SEAT BELTS, AIR BAGS). THE CONTACT DID NOT RECEIVE ANY RECALL NOTIFICATIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO PALM SPRINGS HYUNDAI (3919 E PALM CANYON DR, SUITE A, 1-(760) 202-8888) WHERE IT CURRENTLY REMAINED FOR OVER THREE WEEKS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 23,800.
STEERING MAKES A CLUNKING NOISE WHEN HITTING BUMPS AND TURNING LEFT AND RIGHT. THIS IS IN MOTION AND STABLE
SAT EVENING DRIVING THRU DOWNTOWN DALLAS CAR SUDDENLY AND WITHOUT WARNING LOST POWER AND REFUSED TO START AGAIN. LUCKILY ABLE TO COAST TO EXIT RAMP. TOW BILL OF $300 TO GET OFF ROADWAY. MONDAY MORNING ANOTHER $110 TO TOW TO MECHANIC. MECHANIC SAYS ENGINE IS GONE, BUT CAN'T EXPLAIN WHY. IT SIMPLY SEIZED UP. NEW ENGINE REQUIRED.
STEERING COLUMN CLUNK WHEN ATTEMPTING LEFT HAD TURN AND DRIVING. WHILE AT A COMPLETE STOP, IF YOU TURN THE WHEEL TO THE LEFT YOU HEAR A CLUNK. THIS IS GETTING PROGRESSIVELY WORSE. STEERING FEELS LOOSE/SLOPPY.

MY BRAKE LIGHTS ALL OF A SUDDEN WENT OUT, MY SHIFT LOCK LOCKS EVERYTIME I PUT MY CAR IN PARK I HAVE TO USE SOMETHING TO PRESS THE BUTTON TO UNLOCK MY GEAR SHIFT. GOT IT CHECKED AND IT TURNED OUT TO BE THE BRAKE LIGHT SWITCH
CAR STOPPED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE FREEWAY WHILE 120 MILES FROM HOME. ENGINE, OIL, BATTERY AND EPS LIGHTS ALL CAME ON AT THE SAME TIME AND CAR SLOWED DOWN UNTIL IT STOPPED. I WAS BARELY ABLE TO MOVE IT FROM THE MIDDLE LANE TO THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE FREEWAY. MY CAR WAS STILL OVER THE WHITE LINE AND IT COULD HAVE EASILY BEEN HIT BY ONCOMING TRAFFIC. CAR WAS SMOKING FROM THE PASSENGER SIDE. TOWED TO NEARBY MECHANIC WHO STATED THAT CAR HAD NO OIL. I JUST RECEIVED AN OIL CHANGE LESS THAN TWO WEEKS PRIOR AND HAD 2500 MILES LEFT BEFORE I NEEDED ANOTHER ONE. MECHANIC STATED THAT I NEED A NEW ENGINE. I JUST PURCHASED THIS CAR IN FEB 2018. WARRANTY IS FIGHTING ME ON FIXING IT SO NOW I HAVE PAYMENTS ON A CAR THAT DOESNT WORK AND ITS STILL 120 MILES AWAY. I HAD TO GET A RENTAL JUST TO GET MY FAMILY HOME SAFELY. THIS VEHICLE IS CLEARLY HAVING ENGINE ISSUES THAT NO ONE SEEMS TO CARE ABOUT BUT MY FAMILY WAS IN EXTREME DANGER AND NO ONE SEEMS TO CARE ABOUT THAT.
INTERNAL ENGINE NOISE AND UNUSUAL AMOUNT OF OIL CONSUMPTION , APPROXIMATELY 1 QT. PER 500 MILES . FOUND USA TODAY DATED 09/25/2015 STATING POSTED BY THE NHTSA THAT HYUNDAI ANNOUNCED A RECALL OF MY VEHICLE FOR THIS EXACT PROBLEM BUT LOCAL HYUNDAI DEALER STATED THAT MY VEHICLE WAS NOT COVERED BY THIS SAFETY RECALL.
THE STEERING WHEEL HAS BECOME LOSE. IT IS A STEERING WHEEL COUPLER, BUT HYUNDAI HAS EXPANDED THE WARRANTY TO 100,000 OR 10 YEARS. THE HYUNDAI'S HAVE BEEN HAVING NUMEROUS PROBLEMS WITH SO CALLED FIXED RECALLS.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN UNKNOWN DEALER IN WICHITA, KANSAS WHERE THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS A KNOWN ISSUE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND PROMISED TO CALL THE CONTACT BACK. THE CONTACT WAS NOT CALLED BACK. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 130,000.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 HYUNDAI SONATA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ENTIRE DASHBOARD CONTAINED SEVERAL EXTENSIVE CRACKS. THE CONTACT WAS CONCERNED THAT THE CRACKS COULD POTENTIALLY AFFECT THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG COMPONENTS. DORAL HYUNDAI (10285 NW 12TH ST, DORAL, FL 33172, 305-591-5407) INDICATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT UNDER A WARRANTY AND THAT THE PART WOULD NEED TO BE ORDERED AND REPLACED FOR THE DASHBOARD. THE DEALER DID NOT INSPECT THE AIR BAGS TO DETERMINE IF THEY WERE BEING AFFECTED DUE TO THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 65,000.
HI I HAVE HAD AN ISSUE WITH HYUNDAI ON MY 2011 HYUNDAI SONATA. I HAD A RECALL ON MY CAR OVER A YEAR AGO AND WAS TOLD THAT MY MECHANIC COULD FIX THE RECALL AND I'D BE REIMBURSED AS LONG AS I HAVE THE PAPERWORK OF THE REPAIR AND AT THE POINT THAT I DID THE REPAIR THEY SAID THEY DIDN'T HAVE A REMEDY YET. HYUNDAI TOLD ME THAT I COULD DO THIS REPAIR AT MY MECHANIC AND I'D BE REIMBURSED. IT HAS BEEN OVER A YEAR AND COUNTLESS PHONE CALLS AND SEVERAL DOCUMENTS SENT TO HYUNDAI AND THEY HAVE REFUSED TO COMPENSATE ME FOR THE REPAIR. IF I KNEW THE REMEDY WOULD HAVE BEEN SENT OUT 6 MONTHS LATER AND THAT I WOULDN'T HAVE BEEN REIMBURSED I WOULD HAVE LET HYUNDAI DO THIS REPAIR BUT THE DEALERSHIP SAID I'D BE REIMBURSED AND I HAVE TRIED FOR ALMOST 1.5 YEARS TO GET A REIMBURSEMENT AND THEY ALWAYS GIVE ME THE RUN AROUND. THE DEALERSHIP SAID THEY'D REIMBURSED ME IF I HAD MY PAPERWORK AND FILE A REIMBURSEMENT CLAIM. BUT THEY FAILED TO PAY ME STILL TO THIS DAY AND HAVE NOT ALLOWED ME TO TALK TO ANYONE TO HELP ME GET COMPENSATED FOR THIS RECALL. SO I CONTACTED Y'ALL TO FILE THIS COMPLAINT. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO TUSCALOOSA HYUNDAI (3831 HARGROVE RD E, TUSCALOOSA, AL 35405, (205) 752-8113) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AFTER THE REBUILT ENGINE WAS REMOVED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 120,000. *DT CONSUMER STATED SUDDEN ENGINE FAILURE AND THE CAR WAS TOWED TO A LOCAL MECHANIC AND ENGINE REPLACED. MECHANIC FOUND THERE WAS A RECALL FOR SUDDEN ENGINE FAILURE. CONSUMER FOUND 12 OTHER RECALLS. *JB
THERE IS A RECALL FROM FEB. 2018-HYUNDAI MOTOR AMERICA (HYUNDAI) IS RECALLING CERTAIN 2011 SONATA VEHICLES. IN THE EVENT OF A CRASH, THE AIR BAG CONTROL UNIT (ACU) MAY SHORT CIRCUIT, PREVENTING THE FRONTAL AIR BAGS, SEAT BELT PRETENSIONERS, AND SIDE AIR BAGS FROM DEPLOYING. THERE IS STILL NO REMEDY FOR THIS ISSUE-8 MONTHS LATER! MY AIRBAG LIGHT HAS COME ON- IN ADDITION TO THIS BEING A SAFETY ISSUE - WHETHER MY AIRBAGS WILL DEPLOY IN AN ACCIDENT- MY VEHICLE WILL NOT PASS THE MANDATORY ANNUAL STATE RMV INSPECTION REQUIRED. RECONNECTING THE BATTERY AFTER SERVICING THE CAR THE VEHICLE GETS A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT P0106 CODE (P0106 MANIFOLD ABSOLUTE PRESSURE/BAROMETRIC PRESSURE CIRCUIT RANGE/PERFORMANCE). THE ENGINE RUNS NORMAL. DRIVING THE VEHICLE AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS ON CRUISE CONTROL AT INTERMITTENT TIMES I EXPERIENCE A CRUISE CONTROL DISCONNECT AND TOTAL LOSS OF THROTTLE WHILE ENGINE IS STILL RUNNING. I HAVE TO COAST THE VEHICLE OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND TURN THE VEHICLE OFF AND RESTART TO GET THROTTLE CONTROL BACK THROUGH THE PEDAL. WHEN THAT HAPPENS THE VEHICLE ALSO GETS A P2110 (THROTTLE ACTUATOR CONTROL SYSTEM - FORCED LIMITED RPM LIMP HOME MODE) AND P0605 CODE (P0605 = INTERNAL CONTROL MODULE READ MEMORY (ROM) ERROR). I HAVE REPORTED THIS TO HYUNDAI. THEY RECOMMENDED I TAKE IT IN FOR SERVICE. I REPORTED IT TO THE DEALER. THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE OR SEE HISTORY IN THE COMPUTER. THIS HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES OVER THE YEARS. THE CAR LOSES ALL THROTTLE CONTROL AND I AM FORCED TO COAST TO THE SHOULDER.

SO, A CAR WITH KNOWN ENGINES PROBLEMS AND SEIZING AND KNOWN FIRES IS STILL ALLOWED TO BE ON THE ROAD? WHILE AT THE SAME TIME, THE CAR HAS AN ONGOING RECALL FOR NO AIRBAGS WITH NO SOLUTION TO THAT PROBLEM. SO IF I HAD BEEN RAN OFF THE ROAD WITH NO BRAJES, POWER OR STEERING, THE AIRBAGS PROBABLY WOULD NOT HAVE DEPLOYED EITHER. TGE WORST PART IS I TOOK THE CAR TO HYUNDAI 8 MONTHS AGO AND WAS TOLD THAT NONE OF THE SYMPTOMS THAT MY CAR HAD, WHICH MATCHED THE RECALL EXACTLY, WERE PART OF THE ENGINE ISSUE. SERIOUSLY? I AM THINKING, THEY WERE WRONG. AND ON TOP IF THAT. THEY WANTED TO CHARGE ME TO LOOK AT IT FOR THEIR RECALL! AFTER ENGINE SEIZING, RHEY REPLACEF ENGINE... RHREE DAYS LATER, MY ENGINE SEIZED. I HAVE HAD ISSUE AFTER ISSUE WITH MY 2011 SONATA. IN JUST A YEAR AND A HALF I HAVE HAD 5 THINGS FIXED OR REPLACED 2 OF THEM MAJOR. I'VE HAD THE WHOLE BREAK ASSEMBLY FIXED FOR MY BREAK LIGHTS NOT WORKING. MOST RECENTLY I HAD TO HAVE THE ENGINE REPLACED DUE TO IT SEIZING UP WITH JUST BARELY OVER 100K MILES. THEN 3 MONTHS AFTER THAT I'M HAVING ISSUES WITH THE CRUISE RANDOMLY TURNING OFF, THE BREAK LIGHTS NOT WORKING. ALSO THE GEAR SHIFTER WILL NOT GO INTO GEAR AT TIMES. ONE OF THE MAJOR ISSUES IVE HAD IS THE ENGINE RANDOMLY STALLING OR THE ACCELERATOR NOR WORKING AT ALL. THE ISSUE IVE HAD WITH THE CRUISE CONTROL WILL RANDOMLY HAPPEN WHETHER I'M MOVING OR IN PARK AND DURING THIS IS ALSO EFFECTS THE STABILITY CONTROL AS WELL AND IT WILL TURN ITS SELF OFF. WITH THE CAR STALLING, IT RANDOMLY HAPPENS WHETHER I'M AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT TRYING TO ACCELERATE OR WHILE I'M DRIVING.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 106,000.
