THE CONTACT WAS FORCED TO APPLY THE BRAKE PEDAL TWICE BEFORE THE CRUISE CONTROL DISENGAGED TO APPROXIMATELY 75 MPH. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT NOTIFIED.THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 116,350.

THE PARTS TO DO THE REPAIRS WERE UNAVAILABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIRS. THE HYUNDAI DEALER (ROUTE 60 HYUNDAI, 8575 20TH ST, VERO BEACH, FL 32966, (772) 569-6004) WAS CONTACTED AND CONFIRMED THAT THE PARTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE FOR THE RECALL REMEDIES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE AND WAS NOT ABLE TO CONFIRM WHEN THE PARTS WERE TO BECOME AVAILABLE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. PARTS DISTRIBUTION DISCONNECT.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 HYUNDAI SONATA. WHEN THE STEERING WHEEL WAS TURNED, THE CONTACT HEARD A CLUNKING NOISE AND THE STEERING WHEEL WAS DIFFICULT TO MANEUVER. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO STATED THAT THE POWER STEERING COUPLING WAS WORN AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE LOCAL DEALER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 137,000. CONTACT STATES THAT FAILURE MILEAGE EXCEEDED WARRANTY OF 100,000 AND IF COUPLING WERE TO FAIL VEHICLE WOULD ONLY LOSE POWER STEERING. DRIVERS SIDE AIRBAG LIGHT STAYS ON
I WAS DRIVING AT LOW SPEED 20-25MPH ON A CITY STREET WHEN I HEARD SOME ODD NOISE COMING FROM MY PASSENGER SIDE WHEEL. I WENT OVER A LITTLE BUMP AND THERE WAS A LOUD CLINK OF SOMETHING BRAKING OFF AND HITTING THE BOTTOM OF MY CAR. I WAS ABLE TO PULL INTO A PARKING LOT. I FOUND MY CAR TO BE SLANTED TOWARD THE PASSENGER SIDE. I LOOKED ON THE STREET AND FOUND THE BOTTOM RING OF THE SUSPENSION COIL. I LOOKED ONLINE AND FOUND THERE WAS A RECALL ON THIS PART IN THE "SALT BELT STATES" SO I CALLED HYUNDAI. HYUNDAI TOLD ME MY CAR WASN'T UNDER THE RECALL BECAUSE IT WAS MADE AT A DIFFERENT FACTORY. IT'S VERY CONCERNING TO ME THE NUMBER OF OTHERS WHO HAVE BEEN IN THE SAME SITUATION AS MINE. THE POTENTIAL FOR SERIOUS HARM TO MYSELF, PASSENGERS AND ANYONE ELSE ON THE ROAD WAS VERY HIGH. HOW MANY PEOPLE HAVE TO EXPERIENCE THIS FOR THE PART AT THE FACTORY MY CAR WAS ASSEMBLED TO BE RECALLED? ALSO, NOW THE CONCERN FOR THE SAME THING TO HAPPEN ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE AS WELL. I HOPE THIS ISSUE IS ADDRESSED AND FIXED!
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2011 HYUNDAI SONATA. WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH ON THE HIGHWAY, THE VEHICLE CAUGHT FIRE UNDER THE HOOD. THE CONTACT PULLED OVER, EXITED THE VEHICLE, AND CALLED THE POLICE. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE VEHICLE WAS ENGULFED IN FLAMES AND DESTROYED. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT ARRIVED TO EXTINGUISH THE FIRE. THE WRECKAGE WAS TOWED AWAY. THE CONTACT WENT TO PLAZA HYUNDAI (2740 NOSTRAND AVE #2, BROOKLYN, NY 11210, (347) 983-5977) AND WAS INFORMED TO CALL THE MANUFACTURER. THE CONTACT REACHED OUT TO THE MANUFACTURER, BUT HAD NOT SPOKEN WITH ANYONE YET. THE CONTACT SETTLED FOR THE RECOVERY COST OF THE VEHICLE WITH HIS INSURANCE COMPANY. THE CONTACT FELT THAT THE MANUFACTURER IGNORED HIM THROUGH THE ENTIRE PROCESS. A YEAR BEFORE THE FIRE, THE ENGINE WAS REPLACED WITH A REFURBISHED ENGINE PER AN UNKNOWN RECALL. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS NOT DETERMINED. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 150,000.
HEADLIGHTS FLICKER INTERMITTENTLY WHEN USING TURN SIGNAL
NHTSA IN DECEMBER 2015 THE ENGINE ON OUR 2011 HYUNDAI SONATA FAILED WHILE ACCELERATING TO MERGE INTO TRAFFIC ON A VERY BUSY HWY 101 IN THE SAN FRANCISCO BAY AREA. WE BROUGHT OUR VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE WE HAD PURCHASED IT IN MAY 2011. THE FOLLOWING MORNING WE WERE TOLD BY THE DEALERSHIP'S SERVICE DEPARTMENT THAT THE ENGINE HAD FAILED AND THAT HYUNDAI NORTH AMERICAN HAS AUTHORIZED THEM TO REPLACE THE ENGINE AT NO COST TO US. AFTERWARDS, WE BROUGHT THE VEHICLE BACK COMPLAINING OF 1. A NOISE COMING FROM THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT, AND 2. A TOXIC SMELL INVADING THE PASSENGER CABIN SEEMINGLY COMING FROM THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. WE WERE TOLD THAT THEY WERE UNABLE TO REPLICATE EITHER OF THESE CONDITIONS WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS WITH THEM. AFTER SEVERAL RETURN VISITS WE WERE TOLD THAT THE SOUND AND SMELL WERE DUE TO A FAILED 'MOTOR ASSEMBLY' NEEDING TO BE REPLACED. WE WERE CHARGED APPROXIMATELY $575 DESPITE OUR OBJECTIVES ASSERTING THAT THE FAILED MOTOR ASSEMBLY WAS THE RESULT OF FAULTY WORK WHEN THE ENGINE WAS REPLACED LEST THE OTHER 3 MOTOR ASSEMBLIES WOULD ALSO NEED TO BE REPLACED. WE WERE EVENTUALLY REIMBURSED BUT NOT MY THE DEALERSHIP BUT RATHER BY HYUNDAI N.A.. WE AGAIN MENTIONED OUR COMPLAINT ABOUT THE FREQUENT TOXIC SMELL TO HYUNDAI N.A. REQUESTING THAT THEY BUY THE VEHICLE BACK FROM US BASED ON THE AFOREMENTIONED CONDITIONS. WE WERE ADVISED THAT OUR VEHICLE WAS NOT ELIGIBLE FOR BUY BACK, RATHER HYUNDAI N.A. OFFERED A SETTLEMENT AGREEMENT FOR $2,000. WE RELUCTANTLY ACCEPTED THE SETTLEMENT AGREEMENT AND SIGNED THE RELEASE BELIEVING THAT THERE WAS NO OTHER FORUM FOR US TO SEEK REMEDIES EXCEPT THROUGH THE COSTLY COURT SYSTEM. WE REGRET HAVING ACCEPTED THE SETTLEMENT AGREEMENT EACH TIME THE TOXIC SMELL INVADES THE PASSENGER CABIN. AFTER THE RECENT NEWS REPORTS WE ARE NOW FEARFUL THAT OUR 2011 SONATA WILL BURST INTO FLAMES.

THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO CRENSHAW HYUNDAI (330 HUFFMAN MILL RD, BURLINGTON, NC 27215, (336) 584-1144) FOR ROUTINE SERVICE AND A DIAGNOSTIC TESTING WAS COMPLETED ON THE AIR BAGS. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE AIR BAG MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED DUE TO THE REPAIR FEES. THE VIN WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 18V137000 (SEAT BELTS, AIR BAGS); HOWEVER, THE PART NEEDED FOR THE REPAIR WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE MANUFACTURER INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE PART WAS NOT AVAILABLE FOR THE REPAIR AND OPENED CASE NUMBER: 11401169. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE AIR BAG WARNING INDICATOR REMAINED ILLUMINATED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 121,000. PARTS DISTRIBUTION DISCONNECT.
I WAS RECENTLY REAR-ENDED. THE VEHICLE WAS STOPPED AT A STOP LIGHT WHEN SOMEONE RAN INTO ME. THE AIRBAG LIGHT FOR DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE TURNED ON AFTER THE ACCIDENT. HYUNDAI DEALERSHIP SAID THAT THE AIRBAG SENSOR NEEDED TO BE RESET BUT IT WAS NOT DUE TO THE ACCIDENT BECAUSE THE AIR BAGS ARE NOT DESIGNED TO DEPLOY IF YOU ARE HIT FROM BEHIND. THEY SAID IT SOMETIMES JUST FAILS ON ITS OWN. THIS CANNOT BE, IT IS EITHER DEFECTIVE OR IT WAS CAUSED BY THE ACCIDENT. THERE WERE NO ISSUES BEFORE THE ACCIDENT. THE ACCIDENT OCCURRED IN APRIL IN LAKEWOOD, CO. CASE REPORT NUMBER 18-100159 WITH LAKEWOOD PD.
WHEN STARTING VEHICLE IT WONT START. DOESNT MAKE ANY KIND OF GRINDING OR CLICKING NOISE. AFTER A FEW TIMES CAR STARTS UP.
I PURCHASED THIS CAR USED & I PURCHASED A USED CAR WARRANTY FROM THE DEALER BECAUSE IT ALREADY HAD MORE THAN 100,000 MILES ON IT & HAD TO GET MY ENGINE REPLACED BEFORE DRIVING 3000 MILES. BUT NOT LONG AFTER GETTING IT BACK, MY STEERING WAS MAKING A CLICKING, KNOCKING NOISE WHILE BEING STILL & WHILE IN MOTION & IT DOESN'T FILL SAFE. PRIOR TO REPLACING THE ENGINE, IT WAS NOT MAKING THIS NOISE. I BOUGHT IT USED ALREADY OVER 100,00 MILES & IT'S IN GETTING 3 RECALLS REPAIRED & I WAS TOLD THAT IT'S NOT COVERED UNDER HYUNDAI WARRANTY OR RECALL & WILL COST ME OVER $400 LIKE OTHERS & I CAN'T AFFORD $400+. THIS SHOULD BE COVERED UNDER A RECALL ESPECIALLY AFTER THE # OF COMPLAINTS I'VE SEEN ON THIS. IT SOUNDS & FEELS LIKE MY STEERING WHEEL MAY COME OFF WHILE TURNING, GOING OVER BUMPS, ON A STREET, ON A HIGHWAY, WHILE DRIVING, IT DOESN'T MATTER & AGAIN, IT CLICKS/KNOCKS EVEN WHEN I TURN THE STEERING WHEEL JUST SITTING. I HAVE A VIDEO THAT CAPTURES THE SOUND WHEN NOT IN MOTION. IT STARTED IN APRIL 2018, NOT LONG AFTER I GOT MY ENGINE REPLACED IN MARCH 2018. THAT'S WHEN I LOOKED UP THE RECALLS BEFORE MAKING THE APPOINTMENT & LEARNED ABOUT THE STEERING, AIR BAGS & SEATBELTS. SINCE I CAN'T AFFORD IT BECAUSE I'M RETIRED DISABLED I'M GOING TO HAVE TO DRIVE FEELING UNSAFE UNTIL YOU DECIDE RECALLING THIS STEERING WHEEL INFRACTION. THERE ARE THOUSANDS OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE EXACT SAME THING WHO ARE ALSO WONDERING WHY THIS WAS NOT PART OF THE RECALL. THIS NEEDS TO BE A RECALL LIKE YESTERDAY. I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE MARCH 2018, I HAVE SPENT UNNECESSARY MONEY ON HEADLIGHTS AND MY BACK BRAKE LIGHTS. I'VE SPENT 180.00 REPLACING MY HARNESSES DUE TO MY BULBS MELTING INSIDE OF MY HARNESSES. MY CAR SMELLS OF WIRES BURNING INSIDE OF MY CAR. IT'S MULTIPLE PEOPLE DRIVING THESE PARTICULAR CARS AND I'VE NOTICED THEIR SONATA'S HAVE THE SAME ISSUES WITH THE LIGHTS... I HAVE PEOPLE THAT DRIVE THE SAME CAR PULLING ME OVER OR PULLING BESIDE ME ASKING IF I HAVE TROUBLE WITH MY LIGHTS. YOU GUYS NEED TO REALLY RECALL THESE CARS BACK IN, MY CAR SHOULDN'T HAVE A BURNING SMELL

AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THE STEERING COLUMN WAS FAULTY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER AND DEALER WERE NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 100,000.
I WENT TO THE NEAREST HYUNDAI DEALERSHIP TO GET SOME OPEN RECALLS THAT I HAD DONE AND I HAD LIKE 5 OR 6, MANY OF WHICH WERE VERY CRITICAL. I GOT A CALL NEXT DAY ASKING ME TO COME AND PICK UP MY CAR, WHICH I WAS VERY SKEPTICAL ABOUT. THEY ASKED ME TO SIGN A PAPER INDICATING THAT EVERYTHING IS DONE. I ASKED IF I CAN SPEAK TO SOMEONE TO EXPLAIN WHY THIS HAPPENED SO QUICKLY AND IF THERE'S ANYTHING TO WORRY ABOUT AND THEY COULDN'T CONNECT ME WITH ANYONE NEITHER DID THEY ASK FOR MY INFORMATION TO CONTACT ME WHEN THAT EXPERT IS AVAILABLE. NOW ABOUT A MONTH SINCE TAKING THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP, I CHECK MY VIN ONLINE AND TO MY SURPRISE 4 OF THE MOST CRITICAL OPEN RECALLS ARE STILL NOT CLOSED OR REMEDIED. THEY INVOLVE PROBLEMS WITH THE ENGINE, TRANSMISSION, SEATBELT, AND BRAKE PEDAL. THERE ARE ALL ISSUES THAT COULD RESULT IN A FATAL ACCIDENT. I DON'T REALLY KNOW WHAT TO DO BECAUSE THIS IS A MATTER OF HONESTY. I SHOULD NOT HAVE HAD TO CHECK FOR THEM TO BEGIN WITH. THIS HYUNDAI DEALER IS SUNBURY MOTORS HYUNDAI.
BREAK LIGHTS NEED TO BE REPLACED MORE AND MORE FREQUENTLY OVER THE COURSE OF 6-8 MONTHS. RECENTLY THEY NEED REPLACED JUST WEEKS APART. USUALLY BOTH GO OUT AT THE SAME TIME, BUT NOT ALWAYS. BOTH SOCKETS ARE NOW BURNT OUT. NEW BULBS DON'T WORK IN EITHER SOCKET, AND BOTH SOCKETS APPEAR TO BE BLACKENED/SLIGHTLY MELTED AND PLASTIC AROUND THE SOCKET EASILY CRACKS. EACH TIME THEY WENT OUT, THE ISSUE WAS BROUGHT TO MY ATTENTION AFTER BEING PULLED OVER, IN OR AROUND THE CITY, AND KINDLY INFORMED BY AN OFFICER.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE LOCAL DEALER (GLICK GMC, 48 BRIDGEVILLE RD, MONTICELLO, NY 12701) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE STEERING GEAR ASSEMBLY AND TORQUE FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 10V426000 (STEERING). THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED DUE TO THE REPAIR COST. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 138,000.
THE STEERING COLUMN ON MY 2011 SONATA STARTED MAKING TERRIBLE NOISES DUE TO A KNOWN ISSUE WITH THE STEERING SHAFT. EVEN THOUGH THERE IS A FORMAL NHTSA INVESTIGATION NHTSA ACTION NUMBER: PE10035) AND RECALL (NHTSA RECALL NO. 10V-426), THE DEALER (HTTPS://WWW.HYUNDAIOFCHANTILLY.COM/SERVICE_APPOINTMENT_FORM.CFM) TOLD ME THAT I HAVE TO PAY OVER $400 DOLLARS TO FIX THE $2 PART THAT IS CAUSING THIS HAZARDOUS ISSUE. UPON INSPECTION FROM AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, THE CONTACT WAS MADE AWARE OF A LEAF SPRING FRACTURE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO BERGSTROM HYUNDAI OF APPLETON (3023 N VICTORY LN, #101, APPLETON, WI) WHERE THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE COIL SPRING FRACTURED AND RECOMMENDED BOTH SPRINGS BE REPLACED DUE TO CORROSION. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 110,000.
HEARD CLUNK DRIVERS SIDE FRONT OF CAR PULLING IN TO FRIENDS DRIVEWAY, TOLD FATHER ABOUT IT, HE LOOKED AND COIL SPRING WAS SITTING ON EDGE OF COILS SPRING SEATING....FOUND BROKEN PIECE OF COIL SPRING IN PARKING LOT WHERE I PARK MY CAR IN FRONT OF MY APARTMENT. LESS THAN 64,000 MILES ON THE CAR.
FAULTY AIR BAG CONTROL MODULE, AIR BAG WARNING LAMP ILLUMINATED, TOOK TO DEALER FOR SERVICE, WAS TOLD THERE IS A RECALL FOR THIS ISSUE. HOWEVER THE PARTS TO REPAIR ARE NOT AVAILABLE AT THIS TIME. VERY CONCERNED ABOUT DRIVING A VEHICLE WITH A FAULTY AIR BAG SYSTEM.
BRAKE LIGHTS STAY ON, AFTER YOU LEAVE OFF BRAKE PEDAL. COULD RESULT IN SERIOUS REAR END ACCIDENT IF PERSON FOLLOWING YOU DOESN'T KNOW WHEN YOU REALLY ARE APPLYING BRAKES. THIS IS BELIEVED TO BE THE BRAKE LIGHT STOPPER PAD. I AM A MECHANIC AND THE STOPPER PAD IS CRUMBLING. PER DEALER IT WAS REPLACED 1/2016 AT 70000 MILE NOW 2YEARS LATER AND 14000 MILE LATER IT IS BAD AGAIN. THIS PROBLEM COULD IMPACT ALL 2011 AND OTHER YEAR MODELS. I BELIEVE IT IS A CRITICAL SAFETY ISSUE THAT COULD CAUSE A STEERING FAILURE, BASED THE DEGREE MY STEERING WHEEL WAS CLICKING AND THE TWO INCH PLAY THAT I WAS EXPERIENCING!
