AFTER STARTING THE CAR ON THE STREET I PULLED THE CAR INTO THE DRIVEWAY TO WASH IT. AFTER ABOUT AN HOUR, I TRIED TO START THE CAR TO MOVE IT OUT OF THE DRIVEWAY. IT WOULD NO LONGER START. TURNS OUT THE STARTER HAD BURNED OUT. TOOK THE CAR TO THE SHOP. THEY STATED THAT THE EVEN AFTER REPLACING THE STARTER, THE STARTER CONTINUES TO TRY TO START THE CAR WHILE THE CAR IS RUNNING. THIS WILL CAUSE THE STARTER TO BURN OUT. I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE THE STARTER WITH 69K MILES ON THE CAR AND NOW HAVE BEEN WARNED THAT THERE IS AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM THAT WILL BURNOUT THE NEW STARTER UNLESS I GET IT FIXED.
TAKATA RECALL. I RECENTLY RECEIVED MAIL REGARDING POSSIBLE RECALL OF THE AIRBAG ON MY DRIVER'S SIDE. I CHECKED THE SITE AND IT STATED THERE ARE NO ACTIVE RECALLS FOR MY VEHICLE HIWEVER, I HAVE NOTICED FOR A COUPLE WEEKS THAT THE AIRBAG LIGHT ON MY DASHBOARD HAS BEEN ON. HOW DO I HANDLE THIS?
TOOK MY CAR IN FOR A RECALL FOR UNDERBODY RUSTPROOFING FOR RECALL CAMPAIGN 946. WHILE IN FOR THIS RECALL IT WAS FOUND BY THE HYUNDAI DEALERSHIP THAT THE VEHICLE HAD A R/F SPRING THAT WAS BROKEN. IT REQUIRED IMMEDIATE ATTENTION - UNSAFE TO DRIVE. I WAS QUOTED A PRICE FOR REPAIRS 220.00 DOLLARS. I INDICATED TO THE SERVICE ADVISOR AT CARBONE HYUNDAI, 4975 COMMERCIAL DRIVE, YORKVILLE NY 13495, PHONE 315-736-8356, I THOUGHT THIS REPAIR SHOULD BE COVERED UNDER THE RECALL. THEY SAID NO IT WAS NOT COVERED. WENT HOME AND FOUND A PRIOR RECALL - RECALL 133 WHICH STATES "ROAD SALT MAY CORRODE THE FRONT COIL SPRINGS, POSSIBLY RESULTING IN THE COIL SPRINGS FRACTURING. DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE FRONT COIL SPRINGS, FREE OF CHARGE". SO WHY WON'T THE DEALERSHIP HONOR THIS PRIOR RECALL TO REPAIR MY COIL SPRING FREE OF CHARGE????
THE SRS LIGHT COMES ON AND WILL NOT GO OFF.
THE BUTTONS AND HORN ON THE STEERING WHEEL ARE NOT WORKING, NOTHING HAPPENS WHEN YOU PUSH ANY OF THE BUTTONS. CRUISE CONTROL, ODOMITER RESET, TRIP BUTTON, VOLUME, BLUETOOTH, RADIO STATION CHANGE, AND HORN DO NOT WORK. THE HORN NOT WORKING IS A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE, I CANNOT LET ANYONE KNOW I AM NEAR OR THEY ARE TOO CLOSE TO ME. WHILE DRIVING AND WHILE IN PARKED MODE
VEHICLE WOULD SHUT OFF UNEXPECTALLY WHILE DRIVING ON A BUSY MAIL ROAD WITHOUT ANY WARNING SIGNS. THIS IINCIDENT OCCURRED MNTIPLE TIMES. I AM VERY CONCERN FOR MY SAFETY FOR MY FAMILY
THE STEERNG COLOUM SHAKES AND A CLICKING SOUND IS HEARD WHEN YOU TURN THE THE STEERING SIDE TO SIDE, AND ESPECIALLY WHEN YOU GO OVER A BUMP SOUNDS LIKE IT'S GOING TO SNAP AND BREAK OFF LEAVING YOU WITHOUT STEERING.IT HAPPENS WHEN I'M ON A CITY STREET, AND HIGHWAY IN MOTION AND WHEN IN PARK YOU CAN HEAR THE CLICKING OF THE STEERING WHEEL BY TURNING IT SIDE BY SIDE.
WHILE DRIVING, I ATTEMPTED TO PUT THE DRIVER SIDE WINDOW DOWN, AND THE CONTROL BUTTON HAS MALFUNCTIONED. IT IS ALMOST AS IF A SPRING OPERATES IT, AND HAS WORN OUT. THE BUTTON HAS NO CONTROL OF ITSELF. I HAVE NEVER EXPERIENCED THIS WITH ANY OTHER CAR I HAVE OWNED. I AM AFRAID OF IT FAILING ON ME, WHICH MEANS I WILL NOT BE ABLE TO OPERATE THE WINDOW UP AND/OR DOWN.
BOTH MY REAR LEFT AND RIGHT BRAKE LAMPS KEEP BURNING OUT CONSTANTLY, EVEN THOUGH I'VE REPLACED THE BULBS MANY TIMES. EVERY TIME I CHANGE THEM, IT IS VERY HARD BECAUSE THE CONNECTOR SEEMS TO HAVE MELTED TO THE HOUSING LAMP. WHEN I TALKED TO A SERVICE REP FROM THE DEALERSHIP, HE TOLD ME THE WIRING HARNESS WAS POORLY DESIGNED, AND I WOULD NEED A NEW ONE, WHICH ISN'T EVEN COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE, AS BRAKE LIGHTS ARE REQUIRED BY LAW, AND IF THEY AREN'T WORKING PROPERLY, THEY POSE A HUGE RISK TO DRIVER AND THOSE AROUND HIM. IF THE WIRING HARNESS IS REALLY TO BLAME, HYUNDAI SHOULD OWN UP TO THEIR MISTAKE AND REPLACE IT UNDER WARRANTY, OR THE NHTSA NEEDS TO MAKE THEM DO A MASS RECALL FOR THE SAKE OF EVERYONE'S SAFETY. I CANNOT KEEP CHANGING THE BULBS AND REPLACING THE WIRING HARNESS SYSTEMS WITH FAULTY DESIGNS AND RISKING GETTING FIX-IT-TICKETS. I'VE EVEN TRIED BUYING MORE EXPENSIVE LED BULBS THAT PRODUCE LESS HEAT, AND THEY STILL GO OUT AFTER A SHORT TIME. A SHORT SEARCH FROM OTHER REPORTS SHOWS MANY OTHERS WITH THE SAME ISSUES
THE STARTER ON MY 2011 HYUNDAI SONATA IS INOPERABLE. IT DOESNT TURNOVER. IVE THE KEY IN THE IGNITION SEVERAL TIMES. THERE IS NO CLICKING NOISE; IT'S SILENT. MY HYUNDAI ONLY HAS 67,281 MILES. I'VE KEPT UP WITH ALL RECALLS AND THE REGULAR MAINTENANCE SCHEDULE OF MY VEHICLE. PLEASE ADVISE.
AIRBAG LIGHT STAYS ON WHILE DRIVING. INTERMITTENTLY GOES OFF AND COMES BACK ON. NO ACCIDENTS TO VEHICLE. NO ABUSE TO VEHICLE. CAR WAS DRIVEN SEVERAL TIMES THE DAY IT STARTED STAYING ON. WORKED FINE UNTIL THE LAST TIME IT WAS DRIVEN THAT DAY. CAR WAS PARKED IN MY CARPORT. DROVE OUT OF DRIVEWAY AND LIGHT WAS ON. STOPPED AT A DRIVE THRU. LIGHT WENT OFF BUT CAME RIGHT BACK ON. REMAINED ON FOR REMAINDER OF DRIVE DOWN HIGHWAY.
HAVE BEEN HAVING ISSUES WITH THE SUSPENSION ON MY CAR. MAVIS WAS PERFORMING A BRAKE REPAIR WHEN THEY SUGGESTED SUSPENSION WORK BECAUSE OF THE FRONT COIL SPRINGS. I LOOKED UP THE ISSUE AFTERWARDS AND FOUND RECALL 133 ON THE 2011 HYUNDAI SONATA. HOWEVER, HYUNDAI ONLY COVERS 2011 SONATAS MADE BETWEEN DECEMBER 09 AND FEBRUARY 10, MINE WAS MANUFACTURED IN OCT 10. THEY ARE SAYING MY CAR IS NOT ELIGIBLE FOR COVERAGE UNDER THIS RECALL, DESPITE THE FACT THAT MY CAR HAS BEEN DIAGNOSED TO HAVE AN ISSUE WHICH THEY HAVE ALREADY ACKNOWLEDGED IS AN ISSUE FOR THIS EXACT MAKE AND MODEL OF THIS VEHICLE. NO SEVERE DAMAGE HAS BEEN DONE YET, BUT IT HAS BEGUN TO HAVE RIPPLE EFFECTS, AS MY TIRES HAVE WORN SIGNIFICANTLY OVER THE LAST FEW MONTHS, NO DOUBT DUE TO A MISALIGNMENT CAUSED BY THE FRONT COIL ISSUES. THIS ISSUE IS COVERED UNDER A RECALL THAT HYUNDAI PUT OUT FOR THE EXACT SAME YEAR AND MODEL, BUT YET THEY CLAIM MY CAR IS NOT ELIGIBLE DUE TO THE MANUFACTURER DATE. WHILE THIS HAS YET TO CAUSE ANY SERIOUS ISSUES, THE FACT THAT THESE COILS COULD PUNCTURE MY TIRE AT ANY MOMENT IS SCARY. THE FACT THAT THEY KNOW THIS EXISTS AND REFUSE TO COVER IT IS SCARIER.
NOT SURE IF MY CAR HAS THE "TAKATA RECALL" BUT IT SHOULD DUE TO THE FACT MY AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ONE DAY I GET IN MY CAR TO START MY DAY AND ITS BEEN ON EVERY SINCE.
THE AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT WILL NOT GO OFF. I READ A NUMBER OF OTHER HYUNDAI OWNERS WITH THE SAME COMPLAINT
TOOK CAR TO DEALERSHIP FOR ENGINE RECALL CHECK IN 2016, WAS TOLD MY CAR WAS FINE ONLY TO HAVE THE ENGINE SEIZE 12 MONTHS LATER WHILE DRIVING. ENGINE WAS REPLACED BY NORTHTOWNE HYUNDAI IN KC, MO AND CAR WAS RETURNED AFTER 7 WEEKS. WITHIN A FEW DAYS OF DRIVING WITH THE NEW ENGINE I HEARD A DISTINCT WHINING AT ABOUT 2500 RPM AND NOTICED A STEADY LEAK DUE TO SPOTS ON MY DRIVEWAY. I RETURNED THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP WHO SAID THAT THE LEAK WAS FROM THE TRANSMISSION AND THAT THEY HAVE NO LIABILITY SINCE THE ENGINE REPLACEMENT DID NOT CAUSE THEM TO HAVE TO ACTUALLY TOUCH THE TRANSMISSION SINCE THE TWO SYSTEMS ARE COMPLETELY INDEPENDENT OF ONE ANOTHER. CORPORATE HYUNDAI SAYS THAT THE POWERTRAIN (I.E. TRANSMISSION) IS NOT COVERED UNDER THEIR EXTENDED 120,000 MILE WARRANTY AND THE COST OF THE REPAIR IS GOING TO BE AN OUT OF POCKET EXPENSE TO ME.
I WAS DRIVING ABOUT 55 MPH ON A HIGHWAY AND MY CAR JUST SHUT DOWN IN THE MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC AND WOULDN'T START, I WAS BLESSED NOT TO GET FROM BEHIND. I HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED HOME. NOW I'M AFRAID TO DRIVE IT. ALSO MY STEERING WHEEL HAS BEEN MAKING THIS RATTLING/KNOCKING SOUND ANYTIME I TRY TO STEER IT AT ALL TIMES. I HAVE CALL IN EVERY RECALL NOTICE I'VE GOTTEN AND I'M ALWAYS TOLD MY CAR WASN'T IN THE RECALL.
I WAS DRIVING MY CAR ABOUT 45 MILES PER HOUR. ALL OF A SUDDEN MY ENGINE JUST CUT OUT. I BEGAN TO PUMP THE GAS AND THERE WAS NO ACCELERATION AND NO SOUND FROM THE ENGINE. IT WAS COMPLETELY DEAD. THE LIGHTS WERE ON AND ALL OTHER FUNCTIONS WERE WORKING PROPERLY. THE YELLOW ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. I HAD TO PULL OVER AND WAS HOPING AND PRAYING THAT MY BRAKES WERE STILL WORKING. THEY DID. THERE WAS NO WARMING . NO OIL LIGHTS OR COOLANT LIGHTS CAME ON . IT WAS ABOUT 75 DEGREES AND A CLEAR NIGHT WITH NO RAIN. I HAVE TAKEN MY ENGINE IN 2 OTHER TIMES DUE TO WEIRD SOUNDS AND ODD ISSUES FOR THE RECALL. ALL TIME IT HAS PASSED THE "PRESSURE TEST" . MY CAR WAS TOWED INTO THE DEALER. THEY ARE ADMITTING THERE IS DEFINITE NOISE IN THE ENGINE, BUT IT IS STILL PASSING THIS RANDOM TEST. I HAVE HAD ALL MY OIL CHANGES AND AM AT THE DEALER ENOUGH THAT THEY KNOW WHO I AM. THIS COULD HAVE KILLED ME IF I WAS ON THE FREEWAY HERE IN SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA. MY DEALER HAS BEEN AMAZING. THE CORPORATION IS GIVING ME THE RUN AROUND. (PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF YOU NEED MY DEALER PRINT OUT TO SHOW THAT IT IS IN FOR SERVICE)
I NEVER RECEIVED THE NOTICE ON MY CAR RECALL NUMBER 123. I HAVE TAKEN MY CAR IN FOR ALL RECALLS I HAVE RECEIVED AND I WAS NEVER TOLD THAT THE ENGINE COULD FAIL BECAUSE OF METALLIC DEBRIS WASN'T REMOVED FROM THE CRANKSHAFT. MY CAR IS IN THE SHOP BECAUSE THE MOTOR IS LOCKED. IT JUST STOPPED AND THEN WOULD NOT MOVE . SOUTHERN STATES HYUNDAI IN RALEIGH IS WHERE I HAVE TAKEN MY CAR FOR ALL RECALLS FOR FOUR YEARS. THEY KNEW ABOUT THIS DEFECT IN 1915, BUT HAVE NEVER INFORMED ME OR DONE THE WORK REQUIRED BY THE RECALL. MY CAR WAS MADE IN ALABAMA AND THE HYUNDAI WEB SITE CONFIRMS THAT MY CAR SHOULD HAVE BEEN COVERED UNDER THIS RECALL. SOUTHERN STATES IS SAYING THEY HAVE NO RECALL FOR MY CAR BUT ONE SMALL THING THAT NEEDS TO BE DONE. THEY DON'T WANT TO FIX MY CAR EVEN THOUGH IT IS THERE FAULT THAT THE RECALL WORK HAS NEVER BEEN DONE.
MY FUEL SENDING UNIT HAS FAILED. MY "MILES TO EMPTY" METER IS NEVER ACCURATE OR STEADY. IT'S ALWAYS MOVING SPORADICALLY. I HAVE TO CONSTANTLY KEEP MY TANK FILL IN FEAR OF NOT KNOWING HOW MUCH GAS IS ACTUALLY IN MY CAR. ALSO, MY AIRBAG LIGHT IS ON. IT JUST RANDOMLY CAME ON WHEN I WAS DRIVING. I'M NOT SURE IF THIS HAS ANYTHING TO DO MY SEAT BELT OR A FAULTY SENSOR. BOTH OF THESE ISSUES BOTH HAPPEN WHEN THE VEHICLE IS OR ISN'T IN MOTION.

TAKATA RECALL MY HEAD LIGHTS FLICKER AND GO OUT WHEN EVERY I USE MY BLINKERS TO MAKE A TURN. IF MY HEAD LIGHTS ARE ON AND I DON'T USE MY BLINKERS WHEN I TURN I DON'T HAVE A PROBLEM. I HAPPENS MOSTLY WHEN I USE THE LEFT BLINKER. ALSO, THE LIGHTS ON THE DASH FLICKER AT THE SAME TIME.
I LIVE IN MINNESOTA AND FOR QUITE SOME TIME I WAS HEARING AN INTERMITTENT RATTLING NOISE COMING FROM THE RIGHT FRONT OF MY WHEEL WELL WHILE DRIVING. WHEN I FINALLY TOOK IT IN I WAS TOLD THE COIL SPRING WAS BROKEN AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. I UNDERSTAND THAT OTHER 2011 SONATA'S HAVE HAD THIS PROBLEM AND HAVE HAD THE VEHICLES RECALLED DUE TO CORROSION OF THE COILS CAUSING THEM TO BREAK. I BELIEVE THIS RECALL SHOULD BE EXPANDED TO OTHER 2011 SONATA'S
ENGINE FAILURE WHILE DRIVING IN MIDDLE OF ROAD WITHOUT ANY WARNING. WHEN ATTEMPTING TO RESTART VEHICLE SMOKED AND SMELLED OF ELECTRICAL BURNING. HYUNDAI SERVICE CENTER ORIGINALLY SAID THIS VEHICLE WAS NOT PART OF THE 2011 HYUNDAI SONATA THETA II ENGINE RECALL, BUT WHEN ADVISING I FOUND ONLINE (SPECIFICALLY AT AUTOSERVICE.HYUNDAIUSA.COM) THAT IT INDEED WAS, THEY AGREED TO CHECK VEHICLE AND CONTACT HYUNDAI TO HAVE ADDED TO THE RECALL. THIS VEHICLE EXHIBITS ALL THE PROBLEMS MENTIONED IN THE RECALL/LAWSUIT. THEY OCCURRED SUDDENLY AND WITHOUT NOTICE. WE WERE AT RISK OF CRASHING OR BEING HIT BY A VEHICLE DUE TO MANNER IN WHICH IT BROKE DOWN. VEHICLE WAS AT RISK OF FIRE, AS IT SMELLED OF BURNING AND SMOKED.VEHICLE WAS LEFT AT SERVICE CENTER AND AM AWAITING RESPONSE.
STEERING COLUMN MAKING A TERRIBLE NOISE AND SHAKING WHILE DRIVING.
VEHICLE IS MAKING A LOUD CLICKING SOUND IN THE STEERING COLUMN AND WHILE TURNING EITHER LEFT OR RIGHT ITS A DOUBLE CLICKING LOUD SOUND. WHILE THE VEHICLE IS AT A STILL POSITION WHEN YOU TURN THE WHEEL YOU CAN HEAR A CLICKING NOISE BOTH RIGHT OR LEFT. IF YOU HIT A BUMP YOU CAN HEAR A LOUD ANNOYING SOUND LIKE SOMETHING IS LOOSE. IT GETS LOUDER AND LOUDER. YOU CAN HEAR IT OVER THE RADIO. THIS HAPPENS EITHER ON STREETS AND THE INTERSTATE AKA HIGHWAY
AIRBAG LIGHT COMES ON RANDOMLY AND WILL GO OFF AND COME BACK ON AGAIN RANDOMLY, WORRIED THAT AIRBAG WILL RANDOMLY DEPLOY
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 HYUNDAI SONATA. WHILE DRIVING 25 MPH, THE POWER STEERING MADE AN ABNORMAL VACUUM SOUND. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE SOUND WAS MORE PROMINENT WHILE MAKING RIGHT TURNS. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE STEERING LOCK FAILED TO OPERATE AS INTENDED. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THERE WAS AN ISSUE WITH STARTING THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE STEERING WHEEL HAD TO BE TURNED TO THE LEFT SIMULTANEOUSLY WHILE ATTEMPTING TO START THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO BE DIAGNOSED. HATCHETT HYUNDAI WEST (757 N TYLER RD, WICHITA, KS 67212, (316) 440-8400) WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 90,000.
MY STEEEING COLUMN STARTED MAKING A TERRIBLE NOISE AND STARTED SHAKING MADE ME VERY NERVOUS TO DRIVE TO THE REST OF THE WAY HOME FROM CHURCH. THIS IS A SECONDARY ROAD THAT IS PAVED BUT HAS LOTS OF CURVES . IT ALSO FELT LOOSE
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 HYUNDAI SONATA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE AIR BAG WARNING INDICATOR WAS CONSTANTLY ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL DEALER (NIELSEN HYUNDAI, 4411 E. MICHIGAN BLVD, MICHIGAN CITY, IN 46360) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE DRIVER SIDE AIR BAG NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. DUE TO THE REPAIR COST, THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT BE REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND THE CONTACT WAS CURRENTLY WAITING ON A CALL BACK. THE VIN WAS INVALID. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 87,000.
MY STEERING SUDDENLY FELT LOOSE AS I WAS MOVING IT IN THE DRIVEWAY. IT CONTINUED THAT WAY. I TOOK IT TO MY REPAIR SHOP AND THEY IDENTIFIED THAT THE STEERING COUPLER HAD FAILED. THIS PART IS A SOFT RUBBER AND APPEARS CHEWED UP. THE PART HAS BEEN REPLACED WITH WHAT WAS DESCRIBED TO ME AS A STURDIER VERSION. MY MECHANIC WOULDN'T EVEN ALLOW ME TO DRIVE THE CAR HOME FOR FEAR FOR MY SAFETY.
RECALL CAMPAIGN #14V434000 WAS REPAIRED IN 2014. THE IDENTICAL PROBLEM IS OCCURRING NOW IN 2017. I HAVE NO IDEA IT THE VEHICLE IS ACTUALLY IN PARK BECAUSE THE INDICATOR LIGHTS DO NOT LIGHT UP, SO I ALWAYS HAVE TO USE THE EMERGENCY BRAKE. WHEN I AM IN DRIVE, I NOW HAVE TO ENSURE THE DOORS ARE LOCKED MANUALLY BECAUSE THE VEHICLE DOES NOT REALIZE I AM IN DRIVE AND KEEPS THE DOORS UNLOCKED. ON 8/28/17 I REQUESTED A SERVICE APPOINTMENT AND WAS TOLD I HAVE TO DRIVE THIS UNSAFE VEHICLE UNTIL 09/19/17 BEFORE I CAN BRING IT IN TO SEE IF THEY CAN FIX THE PROBLEM. ALSO, ON 8/15/17 I HAD A ONE-TIME INCIDENT WHERE MY BRAKES SLIPPED. LUCKILY, THE BRAKES HAVE NOT SLIPPED AGAIN.

LATER, THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO SUBURBAN HYUNDAI OF LANSING (5827 S PENNSYLVANIA AVE, LANSING, MI 48911; (517) 913-9500 WHERE) IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ENTIRE ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AT 800-633-5151 AND STATED THAT THE CONTACT HAD TO PAY FOR THE CHARGES SINCE THE CONTACT HAD A SALVAGED TITLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 69,000.
I JUST PURCHASED THE CAR MAY 2017. I HAVE HAD NO ISSUES WITH THE CAR. HOWEVER ON SUNDAY AUGUST 20, 2017 MY BREAK LIGHTS WOULD NOT GO OFF. AFTER ABOUT 2 HRS OF TRYING TO GET THEM TO GO OFF. NOTHING. I THEN DID SOME RESEARCH AND VERIFIED THAT THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE ISSUE THAT I WAS HAVING. SO I TOOK IT TO THE HYUNDAI DEALERSHIP. I HONESTLY DONT BELIEVE THAT RECALLS SHOULD HAVE "CLOSE" DATES. NOT EVERY PURCHASES THAT CAR THE YR IT WAS MADE. NONE THE LESS EVEN WITH A RECALL I AM HAVING TO COME OUT OF POCKET ORIGINALLY $101, UNTIL I EXPLAINED MY ISSUES WITH THEM AND THEN IT WENT TO $81. IM STILL A LITTLE ANNOYED THAT A RECALL CAN EXPIRE AND LEAVE THE NEW OWNER WITH PAYING FOR THE ISSUE.
NHTSA CAMPAIGN # 16V190000 (HYUNDAI RECALL # 143) WAS PERFORMED ON MY 2011 SONATA IN OCTOBER 2011. I DID NOT DRIVE THE CAR VERY LONG DISTANCES SINCE THEN. NOW LESS THAN ONE YEAR LATER I AM EXPERIENCING LOSS OF POWER STEERING WHEN THE VEHICLE IS DRIVEN CERTAIN DISTANCES. IT BECOMES VERY HARD TO STEER WHEN DRIVING.
STEERING WHEEL HAS LOOSE SPOT NOTICEABLE ESPECIALLY WHEN TURNING INTO A PARKING SPOT. IT IS AS IF IT'S PULSATING OR A CLUNKING LOOSE AREA WHEN STEERING WHEEL IS TURNED.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO CAPITOL HYUNDAI MONTGOMERY (2820 EASTERN BOULEVARD, MONTGOMERY, AL) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ENGINE ASSEMBLY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 120,000.
I HAD MY CAR IN FOR ANOTHER PROBLEM. MECHANIC ADVISED ME THAT THE POWER STEERING UNIVERSAL JOINTS HAD BEEN IMPROPERLY INSTALLED AND I SHOULD CONTACT HYUNDAI ABOUT THE PROBLEM I HAVE 48,000 MILES ON THIS CAR AND MAINTAIN IT VERY WELL. I SAW THERE WAS A RECALL ON THAT MAKE AND MODEL BUT MY CAR WAS MANUFACTURED ON 9/30/11 WHICH WAS AFTER THE COVERAGE PERIOD. I CONTACTED HYUNDAI AND THEY SAID THERE WAS NO RECALL BUT WOULD REFER THE COMPLAINT TO THEIR RESEARCH DEPT. I NEVR HEARD ANY MORE. DO I HAVE ANY RECOURSE? IS IT POSSIBLE THAT CARS MANUFACTURED AFTER THE EARLIER SEPT. DATE COULD HAVE THE SAME DEFECT?

WHEN I HIT BUMPS IT SOUNDS LIKE THE DRIVERS SIDE WHEEL IS GOING TO POP OFF. THE CLICKING OF THE STEERING WHEEL AFFECTS THE WHEEL WHEN GOING OVER THE BUMPS. IT SEEMS AS IT GOING TO FALL OFF
TAKATA RECALL I HAVE GONE THROUGH THE RINGER WITH THIS VEHICLE I PURCHASED THE ENGINE STOPPED ON ME WHILE I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE INTERSTATE. IT WASN'T UNTIL I HOUNDED DOWN HYUNDAI AFTER THEM NOT RETURNING MY CALLS FOR 3 WEEKS THAT THEY TOLD ME THERE WAS A RECALL ON MY ENGINE. I SPENT ALMOST $1000 IN RENTAL FEES OF MY OWN MONEY BEFORE THEY CONTACTED ME. THEY EVENTUALLY GOT IN CONTACT WITH ME AND PUT IN A RENTAL CAR BUT ALSO ASSURED ME I I WOULD BE REIMBURSED FOR THE OUT-OF-POCKET FEES I HAD TO PAY. THAT HAPPENED IN SEPTEMBER OF 2017 IT IS NOW APRIL OF 2018 AND I STILL HAVEN'T RECEIVED ANY FUNDS. ANOTHER ISSUE HAPPENED ABOUT 3 WEEKS AGO WHILE I WAS ON MY WAY TO WORK WHILE SITTING AT A RED LIGHT ONCE IT TURNED GREEN I PRESSED DOWN ON THE GAS TO GO FORWARD AND THE CAR WOULD NOT MOVE. I'VE HAD MY CAR TOWED ALMOST 7 TIMES IN THE PAST MONTH FOR IT TO BE A TRANSMISSION ISSUE. WHICH AFTER DOING RESEARCH ONLINE THERE IS A RECALL FOR THE CVT TRANSMISSION FOR MY CAR. THIS IS ANOTHER RECALL THAT I WAS NOT INFORMED ABOUT AND HAVE YET TO BE INFORMED ABOUT. I'VE HAD NOTHING BUT FINANCIAL HARDSHIPS DEALING WITH SERVICING THIS CAR AND BEING IGNORED BY YOUR COMPANY. I HAVE HAD THIS CAR FOR A LITTLE OVER A YEAR AND IT HAS BEEN FULL OF RECALLS, SOME I HAVE BEEN TOLD OF, SOME I HAVE NOT. THIS IS A RECENT EVENT, I GOT MY OIL CHANGED AT THE USUAL SHOP AND ABOUT 1000 MILES BEFORE I WAS DUE (I GET IT EVERY 3-4,000 MILES) I WAS COMPLETELY OUT OF OIL. I THAN TOOK IT TO MY LOCAL SHOP AND THEY COULDN'T FIND ANY LEAKS OR ISSUES BUT WARNED ME THERE IS A RECALL FOR MY CAR BURNING OIL, WHICH I WAS NOT TOLD BY HYUNDAI. I TOOK IT TOO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE MY WARRANTY IS THROUGH AND THEY DID AN OIL CHANGE FOR ME AND TOLD ME TO COME BACK IN 1000 MILES. I WENT TO THE BEACH, WAS ABOUT 300 MILES FROM MY 1000 MILE GOAL AND I WAS AGAIN COMPLETELY OUT OF OIL. I PUT A QUART IN AND TOOK IT BACK TO THEM AND I WAS EVEN OUT THAN BUT THEY REFUSED TO FIX IT BECAUSE I HAD ADDED OIL ON MY OWN (SO MY ENGINE WOULDN'T RUN WITH NO OIL). THEY ARE STILL UNSURE OF WHAT HAS CAUSED THIS OIL BURNING OR HOW MUCH OIL MY CAR IS BURNING.

WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH, THE VEHICLE MADE A LOUD RUMBLING NOISE AND THE REAR DRIVER SIDE TIRE BLEW OUT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE TIRE HAD SEVERAL RIPS IN THE TREAD. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED ABOUT THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE TIRE AND VEHICLE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 150,000.
AIRBAG INDICATOR LIGHT IS LIT UP ON DASHBOARD INDICATING A FAULT WITH THE AIR BAG.
MY STEERING WHEEL IS CLUNCKING & RATTLING VERY BAD AS IF I AM GOING TO LOSE CONTROL. I HAVE ALSO BEN BURNING OIL LIKE CRAZY FOR MONTHS.
HAD MY 2 FRONT TIRES CHANGED, AFTER THEY WERE CHARGED THE BRAKE PADDLE LOCKED UP AND THE PUSH BUTTON STARTER WILL NOT START THE CAR AND I HAVE NO BRAKE LIGHTS. THE ONLY WAY TO START THE CAR IS TO PRESS DOWN ON THE BRAKES WHILE PUSHING AND HOLDING THE STARTER AT THE SAME TIME FOR ABOUT 60 SECONDS , THE CAR WILL NOT MOVE OUT OF GEAR UNLESS THE SHIFT RELEASE LOCK IS PUSHED. I HAVE NO BRAKE LIGHTS
LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS STOPPED WORKING WITHOUT WARNING WHILE DRIVING VEHICLE IN RURAL AREA. WAS NOT NOTICED INITIALLY BECAUSE WAS DRIVING ON WELL TRAVELED ROAD (2 LANES, MAIN ARTERY OF CITY) WITH OTHER VEHICLES AND THEIR LIGHTS ILLUMINATED THE ROAD WAY. HOWEVER, WHEN ON A LESS TRAVELED ROAD THAT IS WHEN UNABLE TO SEE HIGHWAY OR SURROUNDING AREAS. AS A RESULT, THIS FORCED ME TO MOMENTARILY PULL OFF THE HIGHWAY. THE HIGH BEAM FORTUNATELY WAS WORKING SO UTILIZED FOR REMAINDER OF DRIVE HOME. POSED POTENTIAL RISKS - DRIVING FOR A WHILE WITH NO LIGHTS ON, TURNS, WHEN GETTING BACK ON THE ROAD, BLINDING CARS IN THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION, MAKING A U-TURN TO TURN INTO MY HOUSING AREA ON A MULTI-LANE HIGHWAY AT 10:00 PM AS THIS WAS DISCOVERED IN THE EVENING . IT IS UNCLEAR IF THIS WAS ASSOCIATED WITH THE SPORADIC CLICKING NOISE HEARD FOR SOME TIME WHICH APPEARS TO ORIGINATE FROM THE FRONT AREA OF THE CAR. THE SOUND CAN BE HEARD ON THE INSIDE OF THE CAR AND IS NOT AUDIBLE WHEN STANDING OUTSIDE. REPORTED SPORADIC NOISE ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS TO DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIR. WAS INFORMED THAT THEY DIDN'T KNOW WHERE THE SOUND WAS COMING FROM BUT IT DID NOT APPEAR TO EFFECT THE CAR; MAYBE A SNAKE (ACTUALLY TOLD BY DEALERSHIP). NO RECALL, OR COULD NOT DUPLICATE SOUND AND THEREFORE UNABLE TO ADDRESS TICKING.
BRAKE ISSUE,- WHEN I PRESS ON BRAKE PAD THE REAR LIGHT SEEMS TO EITHER GET STUCK MAKING CARS BEHIND ME THINK I AM IN THE STOP MODE OR WILL BE STOPPING SOON, IT COMES ON AND OFF TIME TO TIME OR EITHER STAYS ILLUMINATED. I DID YOUTUBE SOMETHING ABOUT INSERTING A PENNY ON THE SPOT UNDER BREAK PEDEL. ELECTRICAL ISSUE - ME KEY GETS STUCK IN THE IGNITION WHEN THE CAR IS IN PARK POSTION , HOWEVER THE ONLY WAY TO DISLODGE THE KEY IS DISCONNECTING MY BATTERY TO SHUT DOWN THE CAR THEN I CAN TURN THE KEY TO REMOVE IT FROM IGNITION, COULD IT BE MY ANTI-THEFT SYSTEM MALFUNCTIONING? STEERING WHEEL ISSUE - HEAR A CLICK IN THE STEERING COLUMN AS IF SOMETHING HAD LOOSE INSIDE. DOOR HANDLE/ PANEL ISSUE- ON HANDLE AND STEERING WHEEL IS CHIPPING OFF
MY AIRBAG LIGHT HAS BEEN ILLUMINATED FOR ALMOST A YEAR NOW. I WAS TOLD BY MY HYUNDAI DEALER THAT THIS SITUATION IS UNDER RECALL REVIEW... "YOUR VEHICLE IS AFFECTED BY THE SONATA AIRBAG CONTROL UNIT RECALL. THE REMEDY IS NOT YET AVAILABLE. WE ARE CURRENTLY MAKING PREPARATIONS TO IMPLEMENT THE RECALL." I WAS ALSO TOLD THAT THEY CAN FIX THE PROBLEM FOR APPROX $2,500. I CANNOT AFFORD TO PAY THAT AND IT HAS BEEN CLOSE TO A YEAR NOW THAT HYUNDAI CORPORATION HAS BEEN TRYING TO COME UP WITH A RECALL REMEDY. THIS IS TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE AND OBVIOUSLY UNSAFE. MY COMPLAINT IS ON THE HYUNDAI CORPORATION FOR MOVING ENTIRELY TOO SLOWLY ON THIS RECALL CAMPAIGN. MINE AND MY FAMILY'S SAFETY IS AT STAKE! DEFECTIVE BRAKE SWITCH STUCK IN ON POSITION CAUSED THE CAR SLOW DOWN OF ITS OWN ACCORD IN TRAFFIC. CAR DROVE AS IF YOU HAD FOOT ON BRAKE AND ACCELERATOR SIMULTANEOUSLY. BRAKE LIGHTS STAYED ON AFTER TAKING FOOT OFF BRAKE PEDAL.
FRONT COIL SPRING HAD CORROSION CAN UP RESULTING IN A FRACTURE NEAR THE BASE WITH A LARGE PORTION BREAKING OFF AND HITTING THE TIRE. THIS IS THE SAME DEFECT MENTIONED IN THE DEC. 2015 RECALL CAMPAIGN #15-01-049 ENTITLED "INSTALLATION OF URETHANE PROTECTOR OVER FRONT COIL SPRINGS (RECALL CAMPAIGN 133)" IN WHICH ON PAGE 5, STEP 4 IT STATES "-INSPECT THE LOWER COILS OF THE SPRING FOR DAMAGE OR CORROSION. REPLACE AS NECESSARY, UNDER WARRANTY REGARDLESS OF MILEAGE, BEFORE COMPLETING THE RECALL PROCEDURES." HOWEVER, HYUNDAI STATES THAT MY VIN INDICATES THE CAR WAS MANUFACTURED OUTSIDE THEIR 2.5 MONTH MANUFACTURING RANGE AND IS NOT COVERED BY THE EXISTING RECALL. I SUGGEST THAT THE PROBLEM IS MORE EXTENSIVE THAN THEY HAVE ADMITTED AND ONLINE SEARCHES OF THE OWNERS FORUMS SHOWS MANY OTHERS WITH THIS SAME ISSUE. THE SPRING IS COMPLETELY SHEARED OFF AND FAILED WHILE IN MOTION ON A CITY ROAD. I CALLED THE MANUFACTURER AND THEY DECLINED TO ACKNOWLEDGE ANY KNOWN DEFECTS IN THE MANUFACTURING OR DESIGN OF THE COIL. NOTE, THAT WHILE MOST VEHICLES HAVE 3RD PARTY AFTER-MARKET OEM COILS AVAILABLE, THERE ARE NO THIRD PARTY MANUFACTURERS / RETAILS (I.E. MOOG, ETC.) MAKING THIS COIL , AS APPARENTLY THEY DO NOT WANT THE LIABILITY ASSOCIATED WITH THE PRODUCT.
