FUMES IN CAB WHILE DRIVING CAUSING BURNING NOSTRILS, HEADACHE, BAD TASTE IN MOUTH, GAGGING AND NAUSEA. 2 DIFFERENT HYUNDAI DEALER SERVICE DEPARTMENTS HAVE TOLD ME IT IS NORMAL FOR THE PLASTIC GAS TANK TO VENT THE FUMES IN HOT WEATHER TO PREVENT THE GAS TANK FROM EXPLODING, AND THERE IS NO REPAIR FOR IT. I DON'T KNOW HOW IT IS SAFE FOR THE DRIVER TO BE BREATHING IN THOSE FUMES. I HAVE TO PARK THE CAR AND GET OUT SO I CAN BREATHE. THIS IS NORMALLY ON DAYS WHEN THE TEMPERATURE IS ABOVE 110 DEGREES, WHICH IS OFTEN IN LAS VEGAS SUMMERS, AND NORMALLY HAPPENS DURING CITY STOP AND GO DRIVING, BUT HAS ALSO HAPPENED DURING HIGHWAY DRIVING. THIS HAPPENS WITH OUR 2009 HYUNDAI ELANTRA UNDER THE SAME CONDITIONS, AS WELL, BUT THE FUMES ARE NOT AS STRONG.
TL* THE CONTACT'S GIRLFRIEND OWNS A 2011 HYUNDAI SONATA. WHILE DRIVING, THE CONTACT HEARD A CLICKING NOISE COMING FROM THE STEERING WHEEL AND AN UNKNOWN WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE POWER STEERING UNIT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 127,455.
HEARD A NOISE IN THE TRUNK OF MY CAR WHILE I WAS DRIVING ON THE I WAS ON THE INTERSTATE. CHECKED THE BACK OF THE CAR AND THE RIGHT TAIL LIGHT ASSEMBLY WAS HANGING FROM THE CAR. THE ONLY THING KEEPING IT FROM FALLING OFF WERE THE LIGHT WIRES. THE PLASTIC BOLTS WERE COMPLETELY BROKEN OFF. CHECKED THE LEFT REAR ASSEMBLY AND WAS THE SAME. THE PLASTIC IS BROKEN AND BRITTLE. THIS COULD BE A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE FOR ME AND THE OTHER DRIVERS ON THE ROADWAY. CALLED HYUNDAI AND OF COURSE THEY WERE NOT INTERESTED IN ASSISTING IN ANYWAY. NEVER BUY ANOTHER HYUNDAI.
WHILE DRIVING THE CAR, IT STALLED AND I STRUGGLED TO TURN INTO A PARKING SPACE. I HAD A DIFFICULT TIME TURNING THE STEERING WHEEL, THEN IMMEDIATELY ON MY DASHBOARD, THE EPS LIGHT APPEARED. THE CAR WONT START IMMEDIATELY, IT DOES NOT LOCK W/ THE KEY, I HAVE TO MANUALLY LOCK IT- WHEN DONE MANUALLY THE CAR DOES NOT START. HOWEVER, WHEN THE KEY WORKS THE CAR STARTS. THE ENTIRE DASHBOARD HAS TO BE REPROGRAMMED BC OF THE EPS ISSUE. I RESEARCHED THE EPS ISSUE AND FOUND THE RECALL ON HYUNDAI FOR THIS ISSUE. WHEN IN A STATIONARY POSITION, WHEN THE CAR DOES NOT START, I WAIT A MOMENT AND TRY SEVERAL TIMES AND THEN IT STARTS. MY BUSINESS INVOLVES TRAVELING AND THIS IS VERY CONCERNING AS MANY TIMES I AM TRAVELING ALONE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2011 HYUNDAI SONATA. WHILE THE CONTACT'S DAUGHTER WAS DRIVING, THE VEHICLE STARTED TO SMOKE UNDER THE HOOD. THE CONTACT'S DAUGHTER PULLED INTO A PARKING SPACE. UPON FURTHER INSPECTION, THE CONTACT'S DAUGHTER'S BOYFRIEND LIFTED THE HOOD WHEN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT SUDDENLY CAUGHT FIRE WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT STATED THAT A GENERAL MANAGER OF A NEARBY STORE EXTINGUISHED THE FIRE. NO INJURIES WERE SUSTAINED AND A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED. THE INSURANCE COMPANY HAD THE VEHICLE INSPECTED AND DIAGNOSED THAT THE FIRE STARTED BEHIND THE ENGINE DUE TO A SHORTAGE IN THE WINDSHIELD WIPER WIRING. THE CONTACT CALLED JIM SHORKEY UNIONTOWN KIA (724-317-0282 LOCATED AT 1050 PITTSBURGH RD, UNIONTOWN, PA 15401), BUT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 75,800. THE LIGTH STAY ON AND NO TURN OFF
ON 7-18-2017 MY 2011 HYUNDAI SONATA LOST POWER AS I WAS DRIVING IN THE CITY AND I WAS ABLE TO COAST TO SAFER PLACE OFF A BUSY ROAD. IMMEDIATELY FELLOW DRIVER ALERTED ME THAT THERE IS FIRE UNDER THE FRONT OF THE CAR. 911 WAS CALLED BUT THE FIRE DEVELOPED VERY QUICKLY AND THE CAR WAS NOT SAVED. SPECIAL CHEMICALS WERE USED TO PUT OUT THE FIRE. THE POLICE ORDERED THE VEHICLE TO BE TOWED. ON 7-19 I INFORMED HYUNDAI DEALERSHIP IN DES PLAINES ILLINOIS OF THE EVENT AND OFFERED THEM THE VEHICLE TO INSPECT IF NEEDED. THEY DECLINED AND TOLD ME TO OPEN THE CASE WITH HQ. I CONTACTED THEM AND CASE WAS OPEN AS THE VEHICLE WAS UNDER RECALL FOR DANGER OF ENGINE CATCHING FIRE. ASKED THEM TO TAKE POSITION OF THE VEHICLE OR AGREE TO PAY STORAGE CHARGES BUT THEY DECLINED. OVER ONE MONTH LATER HYUNDAI REQUESTED ME TO PROVIDE THE VEHICLE FOR INSPECTION. THE CAR WAS NO LONGER AVAILABLE AND CASE WAS CLOSED AS THERE WAS NO VEHICLE TO INSPECT. POLICE REPORT ALONG WITH PICTURES WERE SUBMITTED TO HYUNDAI WITH THE ORIGINAL CLAIM.

WHEN PARKING, THE VEHICLE DID NOT ALWAYS GO IN PARK WHEN SHIFT LEVER WAS MOVED TO "PARK". SHIFT LEVER POSITION INDICATOR ON DASHBOARD SHOWS BLANK. WHEN RETURNING TO VEHICLE, CAR WOULD NOT START. TOOK VEHICLE TO DEALER, THERE WAS PREVIOUS RECALL ON HYUNDAI SONATA FOR SHIFT LEVER PROBLEM BUT WAS TOLD MY VEHICLE HAS DIFFERENT PROBLEM. DEALER REPLACED "INHIBITOR SWITCH" TO TRY AND CORRECT PROBLEM. LOOKS LIKE ORIGINAL RECALL DID NOT CORRECTLY ADDRESS THE PROBLEM.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 HYUNDAI SONATA. WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO DEL RAY HYUNDAI, ACURA OF DEL RAY BEACH, FLORIDA (LOCATED AT 655 NE 6TH AVE, 33483) WHERE THE ENGINE ASSEMBLY WAS REPLACED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ENGINE INDICATOR ILLUMINATED DIRECTLY AFTER THE REPAIR WAS COMPLETED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE SAME DEALER ON THREE OCCASIONS WHERE THE FUEL CAP AND CANISTER CLOSE VALVE WERE REPLACED, BUT THE ENGINE FAILURE WARNING INDICATOR KEPT ILLUMINATING. IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ENGINE INDICATOR ILLUMINATED INTERMITTENTLY AT FIRST, AND THEN ON A CONSTANT BASIS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 92,000.
THERE IS A PLAY IN STEERING INTERMEDIARY SHAFT. WHEELS MAKES NOISE WHILE TURNING.
THE STEERING COLUMN SHAKES LIKE IT'S GOING TO FALL OFF. I HAVE TO BE VERY CAREFUL WHEN DRIVING. I WAS TOLD TO DRIVE CAREFUL OVER BUMPS. THAT IS HARD TO DO. IT MAKES NOISES WHEN TURNING.
I HAVE A 2011 HYUNDAI SONATA WRITING IN REGARDS TO THE HYUNDAI STEERING GEAR ASSEMBLY RECALL NO. 0## I HAVE A VEHICLE THAT HAS THIS LOOSE STEERING WHEEL CONCERN WHERE THIS VEHICLE IS IMMOBILE NOW AND CANNOT BE SAFELY DRIVEN ANYTIME. THIS VEHICLE HAS BEEN PARKED IN MY YARD SINCE IT WAS PICKED UP FROM THE DEALER SEVERAL WEEKS AGO. WHEN I SPOKE TO THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP ABOUT IT, I AM TOLD IT IS NOT COVERED DUE TO ITS MILEAGE. THIS ITEM HAS BEEN A CONCERN AWHILE AND BROUGHT MORE CLEARLY TO MY ATTENTION WHEN DRIVEN BY MY FATHER. HE DESCRIBES IT AS "A DEATH TRAP" AND TOLD ME NOT TO DRIVE IT UNTIL IT CORRECTED. THERE IS EXCESSIVE PLAY OR A LOOSE FEELING IN THE STEERING WHEEL AND IT IS VERY SLOW TO RESPOND. IT FEEL LIKE IT WILL FALL APART AT ANYTIME WHEN DRIVING AND IT HAS A CLICKING NOISE WHEN MAKING A TURN EITHER DIRECTION. I HAVE WRITTEN A LETTER TO THE HYUNDAI ASSURANT PROGRAM AND I HAVE BEEN TOLD THE SAME THING; ITS NOT A COVERED WARRANTY ITEM. I SAYS IT IS COVERED DUE TO THE RECALL NO MATTER WHEN IT WAS DISCOVERED, BECAUSE THE ASSEMBLY OF THE STEERING COLUMN IS DEFINITELY MALFUNCTIONING. AN UPLOAD OF THE LETTER FORWARD TO HYUNDAI ASSURANT PROGRAM IS ATTACHED TO THIS COMPLAINT. UNHAPPY OWNER OKLAHOMA
THE SAME BULBS GO OUT IN MY TAILIGHT AND HEADLIGHT 3X A YEAR AND THE DEALERSHIP KEEPS TELLING ME IT'S NOT ELECTRICAL IT'S JUST BULBS DON'T ALWAYS LAY LONG. MY SRS LIGHT POPS ON
TXX3 IS THE CAMPAIGN BUT THERE WAS ALSO ANOTHER CAMPAIGN THAT WAS TALKING ABOUT THE SPECIFICS OF WHAT IS HAPPENING WITH MY VEHICLE THAT ALL RELATE TO THIS. MY CAR HAS STALLED NUMEROUS TIMES INCLUDING ON THE HIGHWAY. I HAVE ALREADY HAD IT TOWED TO ANOTHER SHOP, AND NOW I NEED IT TO GO TO THE DEALERSHIP. THE GUY ON THE PHONE AT THE DEALERSHIP KNOWS THE RECALL AND ISSUES, BUT BASICALLY SAYS MY CAR DOESN'T QUALIFY. IT ONLY GETS THE EXTENSION OF WARRANTY ON THE MOTOR. HOW CAN A COMPANY MAKE A VEHICLE THAT COULD KILL SOMEONE DUE TO POOR ASSEMBLY AND NOT REALLY BE WILLING TO HELP? THEY SHOULD ASSUME RESPONSIBILITY AND FIX MY CAR.
WHEN I TOOK MY 2011 SONATA IN FOR THE MOTOR RECALL, I WAS TOLD MY MOTOR WAS OK. ON JULY 11, 2017 MY 2011 SONATA LIMITED SUDDENLY STOPPED RUNNING WHILE DRIVING ABOUT 55 MPH AND STRANDED ME IN THE MIDDLE OF A BUSY FOUR LANE HIGHWAY. I HAD 146 THOUSAND ON THE ODOMETER WHEN THIS HAPPENED. AS IT WAS OUT OF WARRANTY, I HAD IT TOWED TO MY REGULAR MECHANIC. A FEW DAYS LATER HE INFORMED ME THE MOTOR COMPLETELY SEIZED. HOW CAN THIS BE AS HYUNDAI ASSURED ME MY MOTOR WAS OK AND I CHANGE THE OIL EVERY FIVE THOUSAND MILES WITH PURE SYNTHETIC? I THINK IT IS ONE HELL OF A COINCIDENCE THAT YOU HAD A RECALL ON THAT MOTOR, YOU FOUND MINE TO BE OK, AND THEN IT SUFFERS A COMPLETE AND ABSOLUTE FAILURE. I PAID MY MECHANIC $4602.05 TO REPLACE THE MOTOR WITH A USED MOTOR THAT HAS 48 THOUSAND MILES ON IT, AS I COULD NOT AFFORD A NEW CAR. THIS IS MY LAST HYUNDAI OR KIA.
AIR BAG LIGHT COMES ON WITHOUT CAR BEING IN ANY TYPE OF ACCIDENT. DEALER WANTS TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE CONTROL MODULE. WHEN RESEARCHING THIS ONLINE, A TREMENDOUS AMOUNT OF HYUNDAI OWNERS ARE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE.

THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER (SIMMONS ROCKWELL HYUNDAI LOCATED IN BIG FLATS, NY) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ENGINE SEIZED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V434000 (ENGINE). THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 112,000.
MY DAUGHTER WAS DRIVING HOME FROM WORK AND SAID THAT HER CAR STOPPED GOING LIKE IT WAS OUT OF GAS SHE PUSHED THE ACCELERATER AND IT JUST STARTED MAKING A POUNDING NOISE AND WOULD NOT GO THEN ALL OF THE DASH LIGHTS CAME ON AND IT LOST ALL POWER AND SHE TRIED TO GET TO THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY WHERE SHE CALLED ME. AFTER I GOT THERE I TRIED STARTING IT AND IT STARTED BUT SOUNDED LIKE A DIESEL TRUCK SO I TURNED IT OFF. I HAD A FRIEND PULL IT HOME TO HER HOUSE 2 MILES AWAY I HAVE A KIA OPTIMA AS WELL THAT HAS THE SAME MOTOR DO EXACTLY THIS IN SEPT 2016. ITS NOT DRIVABLE IT HAS 109,587 MILES IT'S A 2011 AND THE VIN PULLS UP A SHORT BLOCK MOTORS ISSUE THAT HAS TO BE CHECKED FOR THIS ISSUE HOW DO I GET THIS CAR TO A DEALER AND CHECKED AND FIXED?? PLEASE HELP.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 HYUNDAI SONATA. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO RESTART ON THE FIRST ATTEMPT. THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO RECALL WHEN THE RECALL NOTIFICATION WAS RECEIVED, AND WAS UNAWARE THAT THERE WAS A RECALL UNTIL THE FAILURE OCCURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V568000 (ENGINE). THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER (LAKE NORMAN HYUNDAI, 02520 CHARTWELL CENTER DR, CORNELIUS, NC, 28031) AND THE RECALL REPAIR WAS COMPLETED. THE CONTACT WAS ADVISED THAT THE OIL LEVEL WAS LOW AND PROVIDED AN OIL CHANGE. THE VEHICLE DID NOT PRODUCE THE DIAGNOSTIC CODES THROUGH THE INSPECTION THAT REQUIRED REPLACING THE ENGINE; HOWEVER, THE RECALL REMEDY FAILED TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE. FOUR DAYS LATER, THE FAILURE RECURRED THREE MORE TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO RESTART ON THE FIRST ATTEMPT AFTER ONE FAILURE. TWO OTHER TIMES, THE VEHICLE RESTARTED AFTER A FEW ATTEMPTS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER, BUT NO DIAGNOSTIC CODES WERE FOUND. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THEY COULD NOT DO ANYTHING BASED ON THE INFORMATION THAT THE DEALER PROVIDED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REGISTERING THE FAILURE CODES AND NO ADDITIONAL ASSISTANCE WAS OFFERED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 140,000.
TRANSMISSION REPLACED.. STARTER TAKING MORE BATTERY POWER TO START CAR SO STARTER WAS REPLACED THEN CATASTROPHIC ENGINE FAILURE. AFTER REPLACEMENT OF ENGINE- IT WAS FOUND THAT THERE IS AN ELECTRICAL SHORT THAT WILL NOT ALLOW THE ALTERNATOR TO REMAIN CHARGED. WHEN THE ENGINE FAILED WE WERE DRIVING 68MPH ON THE HIGHWAY ALL LIGHTS, DUMMY LIGHTS AND THE POWER TO THE CAR STARTED TO FLASH, INCREASE THEN DECREASE QUICKLY THEN AGAIN AND AGAIN.. THUMPING NOISE LIGHTS CONTINUED TO FLASH/ON OFF/ETC CAR LOST POWER ENGINE DIED. THE DEALERSHIP IS NOW SAYING THAT I AM RESPONSIBLE FOR PAYING FOR DIAGNOSTICS TO FIND THE UNDERLYING CAUSE OF ELECTRICAL SHORT .. I AM RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY ELECTRICAL REPAIR THAT NEEDS TO HAPPEN. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM WAS NOT FAULTY PRIOR TO ENGINE FAILURE. HYUNDAI SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR FINDING THE ISSUE AND CORRECTING THE PROBLEM.. THE CAR HAD NO ALTERNATOR CHARGING ISSUES PRIOR TO THE ENGINE FAILURE. A TOTAL OF $13,800 HAS BEEN SPENT ON REPAIRS AND THE CAR IS STILL NON FUNCTIONAL. THIS IS JUST NOT RIGHT.
AIRBAG LIGHT IS ON AND WON'T GO OFF
2011 HYUNDAI SONATA IS VERY UNSAFE. I HAVE HAD TO HAVE BRAKE LIGHT RECALL FIXED AT LEAST 3 TIMES AND THE BRAKE LIGHTS ARE STILL GOING OUT. THE HORN HAS COMPLETELY GONE OUT. THE ENGINE SHUTS OFF AT RANDOM TIMES LEAVING ME STRANDED IN UNSAFE SITUATIONS. THE TAKATA AIRBAGS STILL HAVE NOT BEEN REPLACED. CAR IS VERY UNSAFE TO DRIVE; HYUNDAI NEEDS TO BUY BACK ALL THESE VEHICLES.

THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE DIAGNOSTIC TESTING WAS COMPLETED; HOWEVER, THE CONTACT WAS REFERRED TO THE DEALER. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A LOCAL DEALER (ANNAPOLIS HYUNDAI LOCATED AT 935 WEST ST ANNAPOLIS, MD 21401 410-295-1234) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT HAD RECALL REPAIRS COMPLETED AT BOB BELL HYUNDAI (LOCATED AT 7175 RITCHIE HIGHWAY GLEN BURNIE, MD 21061 410-863-1805) APPROXIMATELY ONE YEAR AGO. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 160,000.
REAR PASSENGER SIDE TAIL LIGHT WASN'T WORKING AND WHEN I TRIED TO REPLACE IT, THE PLASTIC HOUSING WHERE THE LIGHT BULB GOES HAD MELTED. NOW THE LIGHT BULB DOESN'T FIT IN THE HOLE. A GOOGLE SEARCH OF THIS PROBLEM INDICATES THERE ARE MANY OTHERS THAT HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. SOUNDS LIKE A DEFECT TO ME.
WAS GETTING ONTO THE HIGHWAY WHEN MY POWER STEERING GAVE OUT, WAS ABLE TO PULL ONTO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AWAY FROM TRAFFIC. MY ENGINE STARTED KNOCKING AND I WAS UNABLE TO KEEP MY CAR RUNNING. I HAD IT TOWED TO HYUNDAI IN CLARKSVILLE MARYLAND, WHERE THEY STATED I HAD ENGINE FAILURE AND THAT IT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THEY ARE NOW TELLING ME THEY CAN'T REPLACE IT ALTHOUGH IT IS UNDER A RECALL AND UNDER THE CUT OFF MILEAGE. THEY ARE NOT COMMUNICATING WITH ME ABOUT THE REPAIR OF MY CAR AND HAVE YET MADE ANY ATTEMPTS TO GET ME INTO A NEW CAR. AT THIS POINT I DON'T WANT MY CAR REPAIRED, I WOULD RATHER THEM BUY MY CAR BACK OR PUT ME IN A NEW CAR. THE CAR HAS 5 RECALLS THAT I AN AWARE ABOUT INCLUDING THE ENGINE, POWER STEERING, FRONT SEAT BELT LATCHES, MY BRAKES PEDAL, AND FRONT COIL SPRINGS.

WHEN THE AUTO FUNCTION OF THE HEADLIGHTS IS ON THE HEADLIGHTS OFTEN COMPLETELY TURN OFF ALONG WITH THE INTERIOR CABIN LIGHTS AND GAUGE CLUSTER LIGHTS INTERMITTENTLY WHEN THE TURN SIGNALS ARE ENGAGED AND ALSO WHEN THEY'RE NOT. THE PROBLEM SEEMS TO MOSTLY BE LINKED TO THE USE OF TURN SIGNALS, BUT DOES ALSO HAPPEN WHEN THEY'RE NOT USED.

HAD TO LIMP IT TO THE RIGHT SHOULDER AND WAIT 2.5+ HOURS TO GET A TOW TO THE DEALERSHIP. 101,846 MILES. I'VE HAD TO REPLACE THE STARTER AND FIX THE STEERING ISSUE AT MY COST. I MAINTAIN MY VEHICLES PER FACTORY SPEC AND TAKE THEM TO THE DEALER FOR REPAIRS. (I HAVE A FORD RANGER WITH 240,000 MILES ON IT!). DEALER HAS INFORMED ME THAT THE ENGINE NEEDS TO BE REPLACED OR REBUILT. THE 2.4L ENGINE IS NOTORIOUS FOR THIS FAILURE PATTERN.
2011 SONATA, CAR BURNS OIL TO BLACK IMMEDIATELY. TOOK CAR IN ON WARRANTY SERVICE FOR FRONT KNOCKING NOISE THAT APPEARED TO GENERATE FROM STEERING WHEEL. REPLACED LEFT TRANSAXLE, STILL NOISE TOOK IT BACK THEY REPLACED RIGHT TRANSAXLE. THE ISSUES WITH ELECTRICAL STILL EXIST THEY'VE REPLACED THE LEFT SIDE BUTTONS ON STEERING WHEEL EVEN THOUGH I COMPLAINED NONE WORKED CORRECTLY. NOW CRUISE CONTROL IS NONEXISTENT. THE AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON AT 73000 MILES. SEAT DOESN'T GO ALL THE WAY DOWN. THERE IS A DEFINITIVE RATTLE ORIGINATING FROM THE ENGINE AND AT TIMES THE REAR END SEEMS TO HAVE DRAG AND SHAKE. THEY INSPECTED CAR FOR RECALL AND OF COURSE THEY SAID MY VEHICLE IS UNAFFECTED BUT WHO KNOWS HOW THOROUGH THEIR INSPECTION ACTUALLY IS. I MEAN THEY REPRESENT HYUNDAI SO WHY WOULD THEY WANT TO SAY IT WAS BAD PRIOR TO ANY BREAKDOWN. RIGHT. I FEEL LIKE THIS SEVERE OF AN ISSUE SHOULD HAVE AN INDEPENDENT INSPECTION.

THE STEERING WHEEL HAS A DEFECTIVE PART AND THERE IS NO RECALL. COMPLAINTS ALL OVER THE INTERNET. THE STEERING WHEEL CLICKS WHEN YOU TURN OR HIT A BUMP AND THE STEERING WHEEL IS VERY LOOSE. THE DEFECTIVE PART IS A "COUPLER" THAT COSTS $5 TO BUY, BUT THEY WANT $400 FOR LABOR. THIS IS A COMMON KNOWN ISSUE AND IT'S A SAFETY HAZARD, BUT THERE'S NO RECALL. IT'S RIDICULOUS. I NEARLY LOST CONTROL HITTING A BUMP BECAUSE THE STEERING IS SO LOOSE FROM THIS DEFECT.
