I WAS DRIVINV ANAD WITH NO WARNING AT ALL ALL OF THE DASH LIGHTS CAM ON AND THE CAR STOPPED. I HAD IT TOWED TO SHOP AND WAS TOLD THAT FOR SOMEUNKNOWN CAUSE THE ENGINE SISIZED, A FEW MONTS EARLIER HYUNDAI RECALLED MY VEHICLE FOR METAL IN THE ENGINE. THE DEALER SAID THEY CLEANED IT OUT BUT I WONDER IF THAT IS WHY THE ENGINE SEIZED. I WOULD LIKE THIS LOOKED INTO SINCE I HAVE READ MANY SIMILAR COMPLAINTS ON THIE FORUM. THESE CARS SHOULD BE RECALLED. THIS IS A VERY DANAGEROUS ISSUE
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 HYUNDAI SONATA. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS OPERATED, THE STEERING COLUMN MADE AN ABNORMAL CLICKING SOUND. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR AN OIL CHANGE AND FRONT WHEEL ALIGNMENT. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE ALIGNMENT COULD NOT BE PERFORMED. THE TECHNICIAN WAS INFORMED THAT THE ERROR IN THE SOFTWARE FOR THE POWER STEERING CAUSED AN ERROR IN THEIR SYSTEM; THEREFORE, AN ALIGNMENT COULD NOT BE PERFORMED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE VEHICLE FELL UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 10V426000 (STEERING), BUT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 123,000.
WHILE DRIVING MY 2011 SONATA AND TURNING LEFT THE STEERING WHEEL MAKES A LOUD CLICKING SOUND. ALSO STEERING WHEEL MAKES A HORRIBLE LOUD NOISE WHEN DRIVING OVER ROUGH ROADS. IT SOUNDS LIKE IT IS GOING TO BREAK. THIS JUST STARTED A FEW DAYS AGO. I ALSO HAVE A TON OF ROAD NOSE. I HOPE EVERYONE EXPERIENCING THESE SAME ISSUES WILL COMPLAIN TO HYUNDAI.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2011 HYUNDAI SONATA. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 70 MPH, THE ENGINE SEIZED. WHEN THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED, THE RPM GAUGE NEEDLE WAS IN THE RED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DRIVER WAS ABLE TO PULL THE VEHICLE OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND NOTICED SMOKE AND FLAMES UNDER THE HOOD. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT EXTINGUISHED THE FIRE. A FIRE REPORT WAS FILED AND NO INJURIES WERE SUSTAINED. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT STATED THAT THE CAUSE OF THE FIRE APPEARED TO BE CAUSED BY FUEL LEAKING INTO THE ENGINE BLOCK. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN IMPOUND LOT AND DEEMED DESTROYED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 101,000.
SHORTLY AFTER HEARING A SOUND LIKE A WORN BELT WHILE DRIVING I CALLED THE DEALER/AUTO-SHOP FROM THE VEHICLE AND INFORMED THEM THAT I WOULD BE BRINGING THE VEHICLE IN IMMEDIATELY, APPROXIMATELY 10 MILES DISTANCE. ROUGHLY 1 MILE FROM THE DEALERSHIP THE VEHICLE BEGAN LOSING POWER AND I PULLED TO THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY, WHILE CALLING FOR A TOW-TRUCK A PASSING MOTORIST STOPPED AND INFORMED ME THAT 'YOUR CAR IS ON FIRE.' I EXITED THE VEHICLE AND THEN I SAW FLAMES COMING FROM THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. AT THAT TIME THE LOCAL PD ARRIVED AND CALLED FOR A FIRE TRUCK. AFTER THE FIRE DEPARTMENT EXTINGUISHED THE FIRE THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED THE LAST MILE TO THE DEALERSHIP.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 HYUNDAI SONATA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE DOOR FAILED TO OPEN. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL DEALER (SOUTH SHORE HYUNDAI, 360 SUNRISE HWY, VALLEY STREAM, NY 11581) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE DOOR LOCK ACTUATOR FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 76,000. UPDATED 10/30/207*JS
DRIVING ON FLORIDA TURNPIKE CAR SHUTS DOWN MOTORS BLOWN NO INDICATION THAT THERE WAS AN ISSUE RECORDS PROVIDED VEHICLE WAS BEING MAINTAINED WITHIN A YEAR-AND-A-HALF LATER SAME EXACT THING MOTOR BLOWN DRIVING DOWN THE STREET NO INDICATION THAT THERE WAS AN ISSUE MOTOR IS BLOWN ONCE AGAIN PUTTING ME AND MY CHILDREN'S LIFE AT RISK
I WAS DRIVING MY VEHICLE AT APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH ON A STRAIGHT INTERSTATE HIGHWAY WHEN THE ENGINE SUDDENLY SEIZED (LOUD NOISE, LOST POWER, DIFFICULTY CONTROLLING) AND SPONTANEOUSLY IGNITED. I WAS ABLE TO MANEUVER TO THE SHOULDER WITH MUCH DIFFICULTY AND WAS FORCED TO LEAP TO SAFETY AS THE CAR WAS ON FIRE. THIS OCCURRED 3 DAYS AFTER I HAD THE CAR SERVICED AT A HYUNDAI DEALER FOR INEXPLICABLE LOSS OF OIL. I WAS TOLD THERE WAS NO LEAK; THEY CHANGED THE OIL AND RECOMMENDED OIL CONSUMPTION TESTING EVERY 1000 MILES X 3 BECAUSE OF KNOWN PROBLEMS WITH 2011 SONATAS BUILT AT A SPECIFIC PLANT IN ALABAMA (SEE ATTACHED NOTIFICATIONS OF CLASS ACTION AND EXTENDED WARRANTIES). THE CAR WAS ULTIMATELY ENGULFED IN FLAMES.
MY CAR JUST STALLED ON ME YESTERDAY APRIL 6TH, 2017 WHEN I WAS DRIVING TO A FRIENDS HOUSE, ON THE STREET IN MOTION. I WAS IN MID-DRIVE AND IT JUST STALLED, ALL THE DASH LIGHTS WENT ON AND I COULDN'T ACCELERATE ANYMORE. I HAD TO COAST ALL THE WAY TO A GAS STATION, BARELY MAKING IT. TURNED THE KEY TO THE OFF POSITION AND BACK ON AND IT JUST TURNED ON AGAIN. TOOK IT TO HARBOR HYUNDAI THIS MORNING AND THEY FIRST SAID THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH IT, THEN THEY TOLD BE THE OIL LIGHT WENT ON AND IT COULD BE ENGINE FAILURE AND I SHOULD SELL MY CAR FOR PARTS OR DRIVE IT UNTIL IT FAILS. AND WHAT A COINCIDENCE THAT THIS MORNING A RECALL ON 2013 - 2014 HYUNDAIS WITH ENGINE STALLING. SO HYUNDAI ISN'T DOING ANYTHING FOR ME. I NEED HELP, I THINK MY CAR YEAR SHOULD BE INCLUDED IN THIS RECAP AS WELL.
I WAS PICKING UP MY STEPDAUGHTER UP AND SHE SHUT THE DOOR, SO I STARTED TO DRIVE AND MY DOME LIGHT STAYED ON THEN IT STARTED FLICKERING. I WAS ON A CITY STREET DRIVING. IT HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES SO I JUST KEEP IT OFF NOW.

THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO SCHEDULE A REPAIR WITHIN A REASONABLE TIME FRAME AND WAS UNCERTAIN OF WHEN AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WOULD SCHEDULE A REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER REFERRED THE CONTACT TO A DEALER FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. IN THE INTERIM, THE CONTACT HEARD AN ABNORMAL NOISE COMING FROM THE VEHICLE AND THERE WAS AN ELECTRICAL CONCERN. THE NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER, VIN, AND FAILURE MILEAGE WERE NOT AVAILABLE.
CRUSE CONTROLS DOES NOT ENGAGE AND/OR DOES NOT DISENGAGE.
I HAVE TAKEN MY VEHICLE IN RECENTLY BECAUSE MY CAR STALLED A WEEK AGO WHILE ON THE HIGHWAY DRIVING 55 MILES AN HOUR. AFTER THE INSPECTION COMPLETED AT HYUNDAI DEALERSHIP, I WAS ADVISED EVERYTHING IS OKAY TO DRIVE THE CAR AND WE WOULD LIKE TO COMPLETE AN OIL CONSUMPTION TEST BECAUSE THEY WANTED TO TEST OUT THE ENGINES CONSUMPTION FOR WHAT THEY THINK COULD BE A SAFETY RECALL INCIDENT. I DROVE THE CAR FOR THE FIRST TIME ON THE INTERSTATE HIGHWAY FOR ABOUT 85 MILES SINCE IT WAS LAST IN THE SHOP, FOR WHAT WAS SAID THAT EVERYTHING WAS SAFE TO DRIVE, AND I NOTICED TODAY THAT MY CAR STARTED TO RATTLE AT A 65 MILES AN HOUR ON I95 NORTH IN MARYLAND- WENT I HAD TO EXIT THE HIGHWAY BECAUSE MY CAR HAD CAUGHT ON FIRE UNDERNEATH THE HOOD AND ENGINE OF CAR AND THE SCAR STALLED. SMOOTH ENTERED CABIN OF CAR AND FIRE DEPARTMENT WAS CALLED. CAR WAS NOT ABLE TO BE DRIVEN AND WAS VERY UNSAFE AFTER I WAS TOLD I WAS OKAY TO DRIVE IT.
AIRBAG LIGHT ON VEHICLE IS ON. THE LIGHT IS ONE WHEN IN PARK AND IN OPERATION OF VEHICLE. DEALERSHIP WANTS $130 SIMPLY TO DIAGNOSE PROBLEM. UNDERSTAND THAT AIRBAG ISSUES PLAGUE OTHER HYUNDAI VEHICLES THAT HAVE BEEN SUBJECT TO RECALL.
THE AIR BAG LIGHT WON'T TURN OFF. STARTED THE CAR AND WAS DRIVING WHEN IT CAME ON AND IT HAS BEEN ON AND IT WON'T TURN OFF CHECK OUT THERE IS A FAULTY CODE THAT IS SHOWING UP AND THE LIGHT DOESN'T TURN OFF.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE POWER STEERING CONTROL MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 170,000.
AIRBAG ENGINE LIGHT ON. THIS HAPPENED WHILE I WAS DRIVING ON THE CITY STREET.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 HYUNDAI SONATA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE STOP LAMP ON THE VEHICLE MELTED INTO THE LIGHTING STRUCTURE, WHICH CAUSED THE BRAKE LAMP NOT TO ILLUMINATE WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE TAIL LAMP ASSEMBLY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE TAIL LAMP ASSEMBLY WAS REPLACED ON THREE SEPARATE OCCASIONS; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 30,000.
CRUISE CONTROL WILL NOT CANCEL WITH CANCEL BUTTON. WILL HAPPEN ANYTIME I'M DRIVING ON HIGHWAY AND SET THE CRUISE CONTROL.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 HYUNDAI SONATA. WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH, THE ENGINE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT PULLED THE VEHICLE OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE CONTACT MADE SEVERAL TIMES TO RESTART THE VEHICLE, BUT IT FAILED TO RESTART. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO MODERN HYUNDAI OF CONCORD (965 CONCORD PKWY S, CONCORD, NC 28027, BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL AND THAT THE CONTACT HAD TO PAY FOR THE REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AT 855-671-3059 AND STATED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN A RECALL AND NOTHING COULD BE DONE. A CASE NUMBER WAS NOT PROVIDED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 161,000.
ON MARCH 10 I TOOK MY SONATA TO GET AN OIL CHANGE AT SUPERLUBE. I ALSO TOOK THE CAR ON THE 11TH TO THE HYUNDAI DEALERSHIP TO CHECK FOR A KNOCKING NOISE I HAD HEARD IN THE CAR. THEY RAN TESTS AND TOLD ME MY ENGINE WAS FINE, AND I NEED BRAKES, AN ALIGNMENT, AND TIRES. SO I SPENT $800 GETTING THESE THINGS DONE ON MY CAR INCLUDING THE OIL CHANGE. WELL ON THE 18TH OF MARCH IN TRAVELING MY CAR STOPPED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE HIGHWAY. I CRANK UP IT DRIVE FOR A MINUTE AND CUT RIGHT BACK OFF AGAIN. SO I HAD THE CAR TOWED TO MY HOUSE. THEY RAN TESTS, COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH THE CAR, THOUGHT IT WAS MY PULLEY, BUT IT WAS ALL RIGHT. SO THE MECHANIC SAID LET'S TRY ANOTHER OIL CHANGE. STARTED DRAINING THE OIL, IT WAS BLACK AS TAR AS IF I HAD NOT GOTTEN AN OIL CHANGE. TREATED THE GAS AND THE FUEL INJECTION SYSTEM. STILL A KNOCK IN ACCELERATION. WENT BACK TO SUPERLUBE TO GIVE THEM A PIECE OF MY MIND ONLY TO FIND OUT THAT THE MANAGER HAD BEEN HAVING PROBLEMS WITH GDI ENGINES AND THE FUEL INJECTION SYSTEM. TOLD ME THAT THEY KNEW ABOUT IT AND-AND NOT SAYING ANYTHING. I WAS ONLY MAD BECAUSE I HAD TAKEN MY CAR TO HYUNDAI TWICE SINCE I HAD THE CAR IN A YEAR FOR ENGINE INSPECTION AND NOT ONE TIME DID THEY TELL ME THIS.
I DROVE MY CAR TO WORK AND IT WAS JUST FINE, WENT TO LEAVE THAT EVENING AND MY VEHICLE STARTED MAKING A CLICKING NOISE AND THEN WOULD NOT CRANK AT ALL. IT THEN POURED LIQUID FROM THE ENGINE AND I KNEW THERE WAS A BAD PROBLEM. I CONTACTED HYUNDAI AND THEY SAID THERE WAS A RECALL ON MY ENGINE AND THAT IT WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED BUT IT COULD TAKE MONTHS TO DO THIS. I UNDERSTAND AND AM VERY GRATEFUL FOR THIS BUT I'M A FULL TIME COLLEGE STUDENT AND I HAVE A JOB AND I'M LEFT WITHOUT A VEHICLE. I'VE ASKED ABOUT A LOANER UNTIL MINE IS DONE AND THEY TOLD ME NO BECAUSE I'M NOT 25. I'M JUST OUT OF LUCK AND THEY WILL NOT HELP ME AND SEEM TO BE IN NO HURRY TO GET MY VEHICLE BACK TO ME. I CAN'T RENT ONE BECAUSE I'M TOO YOUNG AND I BOUGHT A $1500 TO GET ME THROUGH AND NOW IT'S NOT WORKING. I NEED SOMEONE TO PLEASE HELP ME!!
"STEERING COUPLER IS BAD" PER THE SECOND MECHANIC THAT HAS LOOKED AT MY CAR, ONE WAS FROM A HYUNDAI DEALERSHIP. I KNOW TWO INDIVIDUALS THAT HAVE REPLACED THEIR STEERING COUPLER AFTER THE STEERING WHEEL STARTED SHAKING, RATTLING, OR CLANKING NOISES. IF IT IS NOT REPLACED AND THE COUPLER BREAKS, I WILL LOOSE CONTROL OF MY CAR.
MY ENGINE COMPLETELY STALLED AT 141K MILES. I HAD THE OIL CHANGED JUST 3 WEEKS PRIOR AND WAS NOT DUE FOR ANOTHER 1,000 MILES HOWEVER THERE WAS LITTLE TO NO OIL ON THE DIPSTICK AFTER THE VEHICLE STALLED. LUCKILY I WAS ONLY DRIVING ABOUT 30 MPH WHEN IT JUST STOPPED AND I WAS ABLE TO GET OFF THE ROADWAY. I WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE APPARENT 5 RECALLS THIS VEHICLE HAS UNTIL I RESEARCHED IT MYSELF. CONTACTED HYUNDAI AND THEY ARE TOWING IT IN TODAY TO SEE IF MY MOTOR FALLS UNDER THE GUIDELINES FOR THE RECALL. THE VIN STATES IT IS AFFECTED BUT I'M NOT CERTAIN THEY WILL MAKE THE REPAIRS.

THE VEHICLE WAS COASTED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND TURNED OFF. PREVIOUSLY, THE STEERING COLUMN MADE A POPPING NOISE AND THE VEHICLE SHOOK. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO STATED THAT NOTHING COULD BE DONE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THE RECALL WAS CLOSED AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO THE DEALER. THE FAILURE WAS NOT REMEDIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 113,822.
'"ENGINE SEIZED" WELL I WAS PLANNING TO TAKE A TRIP IN A WEEK TO VISIT FAMILY IN NM. SO I STARTED BY TAKING MY CAR IN FOR SOME RECALLS THAT I SAW MY 2011 SONATA NEEDED, SO I TOOK THE CAR AND THEY DID RUST PREVENTIVE AND COLUMN SHAFT ECU REPLACED PLUS THEY DID A COURTESY MULTI-POINT INSPECTION AND I WAS TOLD AND GIVEN MY COPY AND WAS TOLD TO REPLACE CABIN FILTER, DRIVE BELT, BRAKE FLUID BECAUSE IT IS DARK, PLUS I NEED AN ALIGNMENT -RECOMMENDED. I GOT THE ALIGNMENT DONE AND THE BRAKE FLUID FLUSH DONE AT FIRESTONE THE NEXT DAY AFTER I HAD MY VEHICLE SERVICED AT HYUNDAI DEALER, EVERYTHING WAS GOOD! SO NOW I FIGURED TO HAVE MY COOLANT FLUSHED BECAUSE THE CAR HAS 97,000 MILES AND ITS DUE FOR THIS SERVICE, AND I HAD TRANSMISSION FLUID DRAINED AND REPLACED ALSO... WELL AFTER ALL WORK WAS PERFORMED AND THE CAR WAS TAKEN OUT FOR FINAL ROAD TEST THE ENGINE JUST SEIZED STOPPED, THE ENGINE WOULD NOT EVEN TURN OVER? EVERYTHING WAS GOOD ON THE ELECTRICAL SIDE BATTERY, STARTER WAS CLICKING AND AN ODOR LIKE SOMETHING BURNING WAS GIVEN OFF WHEN I WAS SHOWN THAT THE ENGINE WOULD NOT EVEN TURN OVER? THE MANAGER JUST TOLD ME TO CALL HYUNDAI AND HAVE IT CHECKED OUT?! %#! SO I CALLED AAA AND HAD MY CAR TOWED TO DEALER, RIGHT AWAY THEY TELL ME THERE IS A $125.00 DIAGNOSTICS CHARGE AND WAS TOLD THAT MOST LIKELY THE ENGINE IS NOT COVERED ? BECAUSE I'M THE SUBSEQUENT OWNER! I WAS A BIT ANGRY AT THIS POINT BECAUSE WHEN I SPOKE TO "M" ON THE PHONE AND EXPLAINED MY SITUATION, I WAS TOLD THAT IF IT'S THE SHORT BLOCK ON THE ENGINE I WAS COVERED, BUT ONCE THERE I WAS TOLD TOTALLY A DIFFERENT LINE! I AM NOT HAPPY AT ALL! AND SOMEHOW THE WARRANTY DOESN'T COVER SUBSEQUENT OWNERS UP TO 100,000 MILES! I ALWAYS SERVICED MY CAR ETC... :( NOW I WAIT FOR THE BAD NEWS FROM HYUNDAI SERVICE...
WENT TO MY MECHANIC FOR TRANSMISSION FLUSH, HE CHECKED ENGINE OIL FOUND TO BE 3 QUARTS LOW (LAST OIL CHANGE 2500 MILES AGO), NO LOW OIL INDICATOR CAME ON, BEEN CHECK OIL REGULAR NOW HAD TO ADD 1 QUART AFTER 500 MILES (MOSTLY STOP AND GO TYPE TRAFFIC)

BRAKE LIGHT WIRES RUN TOO HOT WHILE CAR IS OPERATING AND CAUSES BULBS TO BURN OUT A DAY OR TWO AFTER BEING REPLACED. PLASTIC SEEMS TO BE MELTING AND MAY BE ABLE TO CAUSE A FIRE. BRAKE LIGHTS GO IN AND OUT WHILE DRIVING AS WELL WHICH MAY CAUSE AN ACCIDENT.

I FELT A "LOOSENESS" ON MY STEERING COLUMN ESPECIALLY WHEN HITTING A BUMP. I PUT THE CAR IN FOR SERVICE WITH MY PERSONAL MECHANIC. HE POINTED OUT TO ME THAT A PLASTIC GEAR WELL IN THE INSIDE OF THE STEERING COLUMN HAD WORN DOWN . ALMOST AT SAME TIME I RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE FROM HYUNDAI ENTITLED "COLLISION RISK ELECTRIC POWER STEERING UNIT MAY LOSS" NHTSA CODE 16V190000. I CALLED THE SERVICE MANAGER AT CAROUSEL HYUNDAI IN WEST CHESTER PA. WHERE I PURCHASED THE CAR. HE TOLD ME THAT THE WORN PLASTIC GEAR WAS NOT PART OF RECALL AND IT WAS A SEPARATE ISSUE. IMPLYING THAT I WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR IT . THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND THEY WILL HAVE STEERING COLUMN APART FOR RECALL ,WHY CAN'T THEY REPLACE PLASTIC GEAR WHILE STEERING COLUMN IS BROKEN DOWN. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED AT THE OWNER'S EXPENSE. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 167,760.

THE STEERING WHEEL AND COLUMN SHAKE AND MAKE A HORRIBLE NOISE ANYTIME I HIT A BUMP IN THE ROAD WHILE IN MOTION. IT IS ONLY GETTING WORSE. IT STARTED OUT NOT DOING IT ALL THE TIME AND NOW IT DOES IT ANYTIME I HIT ANY SLIGHT BUMP IN THE ROAD.

THE BACK DRIVERS SIDE BRAKE LIGHT KEEPS BURNING OUT. THIS HAS BEEN OCCURRING FOR SEVERAL MONTHS AND I HAVE REPLACED THE BULB TOO MANY TIMES TO COUNT. I FINALLY TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP WHO TOLD ME THE WIRING WAS BAD AND CAN CAUSE THE LIGHT TO MELT OR FUSE TOGETHER. I RESEARCHED THIS PROBLEM ONLINE AND NOTE IS A COMMON PROBLEM AMONG THE HYUNDAI CARS. I HAVE 2 KIDS, STILL IN CAR SEATS, AND CAN'T TAKE THE RISK OF THE BRAKE LIGHT WIRES CATCHING FIRE. I AM HOPING THIS ISSUE WILL BE RESEARCHED AND A RECALL IMPLEMENTED.
AIRBAG LIGHT IS ON AND WON'T GO OFF!!!
I EXPERIENCED A TOTAL ENGINE LOSS IN 2015 WHILE TRAVELLING ON AN INTERSTATE HIGHWAY IN MY 2011 HYUNDAI SONATA. MY MECHANIC DIAGNOSED IT AS AN ENGINE DEBRIS PROBLEM. THIS WAS PRIOR TO HYUNDAI DISCLOSING THAT IT HAD A KNOWN ENGINE DEBRIS FLAW WITH THE ENGINE. RATHER THAN SCRAPPING A FOUR-YEAR OLD VEHICLE, I HAD THE ENGINE REPLACED BECAUSE THE REST OF THE VEHICLE WAS IN GOOD SHAPE. AT THE TIME OF REPLACEMENT NEW 2011 SONATA THETA II ENGINES WERE IMPOSSIBLE TO OBTAIN (BECAUSE OF THE HIGH FAILURE RATE) SO A LOW MILEAGE (53K) USED THETA II ENGINE FROM A DIFFERENT 2011 SONATA WAS OBTAINED BY MY MECHANIC AND INSTALLED IN MY VEHICLE. OBVIOUSLY, THIS OCCURRED BEFORE IT BECAME PUBLIC KNOWLEDGE THAT THE ALABAMA MANUFACTURED THETA II ENGINE HAD INHERENT AND DANGEROUS FLAWS. TRAGICALLY BUT PREDICTABLY THE NEW ENGINE IS NOW EXHIBITING THE SAME SYMPTOMS AS THE OLD ONE. UPON INSPECTION THE ENGINE WAS DIAGNOSED BY MY HYUNDAI DEALERSHIP AS HAVING FAILED THE CAMPAIGN 132 DIAGNOSTIC TEST. HYUNDAI HAS HOWEVER REPEATEDLY REFUSED TO PROVIDE ANY REMEDY TO THIS SECOND ENGINE PROBLEM, SAYING THAT THEY DON'T WANT TO PROVIDE REMEDY BECAUSE THE ENGINE WAS SOURCED FROM A DIFFERENT 2011 SONATA (AND THAT THE ENGINE IS NOT THE ORIGINAL ONE). IT IS UNCONSCIONABLE TO DENY COMPENSATION BECAUSE I HAD THE UNFORTUNATE EXPERIENCE OF BEING THE RECIPIENT OF NOT ONE, BUT TWO ENGINES THAT FAILED DUE TO THE SAME FAULTY DESIGN FLAW. HYUNDAI SHOULD STAND BEHIND ITS FAULTY PRODUCT AND PROVIDE A REMEDY TO THE PROBLEM OF THEIR MAKING.

IN ADDITION, THE TAIL LIGHTS SHORTED OUT NUMEROUS TIMES AND THE BULBS WERE REPLACED MORE THAN FIVE TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS UNABLE TO BE DRIVEN DUE TO THE FAULTY ENGINE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
STEERING IS MAKING KNOCKING/CLUNKING SOUND WITH VIBRATION, AND HAS SIGNIFICANT PLAY EITHER LEFT OR RIGHT WHILE DRIVING/TURNING. WHEN DRIVING ON CITY STREETS THE CLUNKING IS SIGNIFICANTLY WORSE, AND I RECENTLY DROVE DOWN A GRAVEL ROAD WHICH VIBRATIONS IN THE STEERING MADE THE VEHICLE DIFFICULT TO CONTROL EVEN AT LOW SPEED ( <5MPH). THIS IS A 2011 MOM DRIVEN, PART TIME DRIVER VEHICLE, WITH ONLY 46,878 MILES ON THE ODOMETER. I HAVE OWNED MANY VEHICLES WITH EXCESSIVELY HIGHER MILES THAT HAVE HAD NO STEERING ISSUES SUCH AS THIS. THIS IS OBVIOUSLY A MANUFACTURE/DESIGN/QUALITY CONTROL ISSUE, ESPECIALLY AFTER RESEARCHING AND SEEING ALL OF THE OTHER SIMILAR COMPLAINTS. I AM DUE TO TAKE THE VEHICLE INTO THE DEALER FOR 2 OTHER RECALLS NEXT WEEK. I WILL BRING IT UP TO THE HYUNDAI MECHANIC AND SEE WHAT KIND OF RESPONSE I GET. RESEARCH ON THE INTERNET STATE THAT THE PROBLEM IS MOST LIKELY A "RUBBER STEERING COUPLER"? I THOUGHT I HAD TAKEN IT IN FOR A RECALL FOR SOMETHING SIMILAR, BUT SUPPOSEDLY IT HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH THIS PART. IT'S FUNNY THAT MY WIFE NOTICED THE NOISE SHORTLY AFTER THE LAST RECALL ABOUT A YEAR AGO, AND THE KNOCKING/CLUNKING HAS SLOWLY GOTTEN WORSE AND MORE FREQUENT.
MY CAR WILL NOT GO INTO GEAR, THE SHIFTER LIGHT WON'T LIGHT. I HAVE TO SHUT MY CAR OFF AND TURN IT BACK ON. THIS DOESN'T HAPPEN EVERY TIME I START MY CAR JUST OCCASIONALLY.
