AIRBAG LIGHT WILL NOT TURN OFF ONCE THE VEHICLE IS STARTED. THIS ISSUE CAUSED ME TO FAIL MY CAR INSPECTION BECAUSE IT IS A HAZARD IF I WAS TO GET IN AN ACCIDENT AND THE AIRBAG DOES NOT DEPLOY. THE COULD LEAD TO FATAL RESULTS.

THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 68,000.

WHILE DRIVING ON THE LONG ISLAND EXPRESSWAY IN QUEENS NY, AN EXTREMELY BUSY HIGHWAY, THE CONTROL ALARM ON MY FRONT RIGHT TIRE COMPLETELY SNAPPED OFF. THIS CAUSED ME TO LOSE CONTROL OF MY CAR AND GO ACROSS 3 LANES ON A MAJOR HIGHWAY WITH CARS TRAVELING 70 MPH PAST ME. LUCKILY NO CARS WERE HIT AND LUCKILY MYSELF OR NOBODY WAS KILLED. WHATS MORE DISTURBING INSTEAD OF THE DEALERSHIP DOING IT'S JOB TO MAKE SURE MY CAR IS COMPLETELY FUNCTIONAL, THEY LET ME LEAVE THE LOT WITH AN ISSUE THEY CLEARLY KNEW ABOUT AND JUST DIDN'T SAY ANYTHING TO ME. AFTER ALL THEY PROVIDED A COMPLIMENTARY WHEEL ALIGNMENT SO THEY CLEARLY WERE EXAMINING MY WHEELS AT THE TIME. AND UP TO THIS POINT THE CAR HAD BEEN DRIVING FINE, SMOOTH, NO ISSUES. I JUST HAD AN OIL CHANGE ABOUT A MONTH BACK AND NOTHING WAS NOTED TO ME BY THE MECHANIC THEN. I SPOKE WITH THE DEALERSHIP A FEW MONTHS BACK AND THEY TOLD ME THERE HAD BEEN A RECALL ON THE REAR CONTROL ALARMS, WHICH I KNOW ARE ABOUT THE SAME PARTS AS THE FRONT CONTROL ALARMS. MY CAR WHEEL JUST SNAPPED OFF AND I ALMOST DIED ON A HIGHWAY AS A RESULT OF THIS CAR. AND I HAVE BEEN READING CONSUMER COMPLAINTS THAT SIMILAR ISSUES HAVE HAPPENED AND THERE WERE POSSIBLE RECALLS ON THE FRONT CONTROL ALARMS TO THE WHEELS. THIS INCIDENT OCCURRED ON 10/1/16. IT HAS BEEN 10 DAYS AND HYUNDAI CORPORATE HAS NOT CONTACTED ME. THEY ARE TRYING TO AVOID BEING RESPONSIBLE FOR A CLEAR SAFETY AND ROAD HAZARD WITH MY VEHICLE. IN ADDITION MY ENGINE CEASED ON FATHERS DAY 2014 AND THEY REPAIRED THE ENGINE. THEN IN APRIL 2016 I HAD METAL FRAGMENTS IN MY ENGINE AND THEY PERFORMED A COMPLIMENTARY WHEEL ALIGNMENT. 3 MONTHS LATER MY CONTROL ARM IS SNAPPING OF MY FRONT PASSENGER TIRE.

THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME DIFFICULT TO MANEUVER WITHOUT WARNING. THE FAILURE RECURRED ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE FLEX COUPLER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 64,000.
MY 2011 HYUNDAI SONATA RECENTLY BEGAN HAVING PLAY IN THE STEERING COLUMN. IT HAS 91,853 MILES ON IT NOW BUT STARTED ABOUT 1,500 MILES AGO. WHEN YOU TURN THE STEERING WHEEL THERE IS MOVEMENT BEFORE THE ACTUAL WHEEL ASSEMBLY IS ENGAGED. I AM CONCERNED THAT IT MAY GET WORSE OR EVEN FAIL. ALTHOUGH THERE ARE RECALLS FOR THIS MODEL CAR MY VIN IS NOT INCLUDED AT THIS TIME.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 HYUNDAI SONATA. WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH, THE CONTACT DEPRESSED THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL AND THE VEHICLE STALLED. IN ADDITION, THE BRAKE LIGHTS REMAINED ILLUMINATED. WHEN THE CONTACT PRESSED THE PUSH START BUTTON, THE ENGINE STARTED WITHOUT THE BRAKE PEDAL BEING DEPRESSED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO CRAFT HYUNDAI (2625 LAKESIDE DR, LYNCHBURG, VA 24501, 434-455-7060) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE CRANK SHAFT FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES AND STATED THAT THE CONTACT SHOULD HAVE AN EXTENDED WARRANTY. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 171,000.
RECENTLY TOOK THE VEHICLE IN FOR A RECALL ON THE POWER STEERING SYSTEM AND AT THE SAME TIME SAID THE PRESENTING PROBLEM WITH STEERING WAS A CLICKING IN THE STEERING COLUMN WHEN TURNED A FEW DEGREES LEFT OR RIGHT FROM CENTER. THEY NOTED THIS WAS THE STEERING COUPLER COVERED UNDER A TSB 14-ST-002-1. THE SERVICE MANAGER HAD DRAWER WITH A NUMBER OF WORN OUT RUBBER STEERING COUPLERS THAT HE NOTED WAS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM AND WAS POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS. HE NOTED HYUNDAI HAD CHANGED TO AN ABS PART FOR REPLACEMENT. BASED ON THE FLAWED DESIGN, IT APPEARS THERE WOULD BE CLOSE TO A 100% FAILURE RATE AT SOME POINT ON THE PART.
9/30/2016 - WHILE DRIVING HOME FROM WORK (20-25 MILES) HEARD A KNOCKING IN THE ENGINE WHILE ON THE ROAD AND EXPRESSWAY. TOOK MY CAR TO JIFFY LUBE BECAUSE IT WAS TIME FOR AN OIL CHANGE AND HAD THEM CHECK THE ENGINE AND NOISE. THEY ADVISED THAT THE ENGINE IS BAD AND WILL NEED TO BE REPAIRED OR REPLACED. THE MILES FROM MY LAST OIL CHANGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 3200 MILES. TOOK MY CAR TWO BLOCKS DOWN THE ROAD TO MIDAS AND ANOTHER MECHANIC CONFIRMED THE ENGINE NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. I HAVE TAKEN CARE OF THE CAR WITH REGULAR OIL CHANGES, UPKEEP AND CAR MAINTENANCE. ON 1/11/2016 MY 2011 HYUNDAI SONATA ENGINE WAS TAKEN IN FOR THE RECALL CAMPAIGN 132 AT THE HYUNDAI REPAIR LOCATION. IN JUNE, I TOOK MY CAR IN FOR SERVICE AT FIRESTONE AUTO CARE BECAUSE MY ENGINE LIGHT HAD CAME ON AND THEY PERFORMED AN ENGINE ANALYSIS AND FOUND MY OXYGEN SENSOR WAS BAD ON 6/04/2016 AND THEY REPLACED THAT. I CANNOT DRIVE THE VEHICLE BECAUSE THE ENGINE IS ON ITS LAST LEG, CANNOT ACCELERATE BECAUSE THE CAR IS NOT RESPONDING AS IT SHOULD AND I FEAR I AM RISKING MY LIFE AS WELL AS OTHERS ON THE ROAD. THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN DRIVING FROM 9/29 TO 9/30 IS NIGHT AND DAY I DO NOT UNDERSTAND HOW AN ENGINE GIVES OUT WITH NO WARNING.
TAKATA RECALL - MY FIANCEE WAS DRIVING MY CAR IN A PARKING LOT, THEN STOPPED AND ACCIDENTALLY TOOK HER FOOT OFF OF THE BRAKE WHEN SHE PUT HER JACKET ON THE SEAT AND IT FELL ON THE FLOOR. SOON AFTER, SHE HIT A BUILDING AT LESS THAN 5 MPH SINCE THE CAR SLOWLY ACCELERATED WITH THE FOOT OFF OF THE BRAKE. THE AIRBAG DEPLOYED AND THE TRIP & RESET BUTTONS THAT WERE ON THE STEERING WHEEL WERE BROKEN OFF AND BECAME SHRAPNEL THAT WENT RIGHT PAST HER FACE. LUCKILY SHE ONLY SUSTAINED BURNS AND BRUISING DUE TO THE AIRBAG, BUT IT COULD HAVE BEEN MUCH WORSE IF THAT SHRAPNEL HIT HER IN THE FACE OR CHEST. I WOULD LIKE TO FORMALLY MAKE A COMPLAINT STATING THAT THE AIRBAG SHOULD NOT HAVE GONE OFF WHEN THE VEHICLE IS UNDER 5 MPH AND FURTHERMORE THE STEERING WHEEL SHOULD NOT HAVE SHRAPNEL BEING CREATED WHEN THE AIRBAG DEPLOYS.
THERE IS A CLUNKING SOUND IN STEERING COLUMN WHEN TURNING THE WHEEL WHILE STATIONARY AND IN MOTION. ALSO, THERE IS A LOUD RATTLING SOUND IN THE STEERING COLUMN WHEN GOING OVER ANY BUMPS AT ANY SPEED, WHICH HAS PROGRESSIVELY WORSENED TO THE POINT WHERE IT SOUNDS AS IF THE STEERING COLUMN IS GOING TO DISCONNECT. I WAS AFRAID TO DRIVE THE CAR FOR FEAR OF LOSING CONTROL OF STEERING. THE DEALERSHIP SAID IT WAS THE COUPLER, WHICH IS AN ISSUE THEY HAVE BEEN REPAIRING A LOT. THE PART COST $3, BUT THE PROCESS IS LABOR INTENSIVE, SO THE TOTAL BILL WAS OVER $300.

CLICKING NOISE FROM THE STEERING WHEEL WHILE TURNING, DRIVING, EXCESSIVE VIBRATIONS WHILE DRIVING AT SPEEDS OVER 50 MPH AND SOMETIMES WHILE ACCELERATING
CAR STARTED MAKING A LOUD CLUNKING AND RATTLING NOISE IN THE STEERING WHEEL COLUMN DRIVING OVER BUMPS OR TRACKS. WHEN THE CAR WAS STATIONARY AND IN NEUTRAL, THE COLUMN WAS VERY LOOSE WHEN TURNED. STEERING WHILE DRIVING BECAME EXTREMELY LOOSE AND A SAFETY CONCERN. THE PROBLEM WAS DIAGNOSED AS A BAD FLEXIBLE COUPLING WHICH NEEDED TO BE REPLACED.
EVERY TIME I DRIVE OVER A BUMP OR TURN THE STEERING WHEEL, IT MAKES A CLICKING/CLUNKING SOUND. I JUST WENT PAST MY WARRANTY-COVERED MILEAGE OF 60,000 MILES.

I STARTED MY CAR ONE DAY AND NOTICE THAT THE AIRBAG LIGHT WAS ON AND WOULDN'T GO OFF. I WASN'T INVOLVED IN A WRECK OR HIT NO BUMP, JUST STARTED IT AND IT WAS ON.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE VEHICLE NEEDED TO BE REPAIRED PER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V190000 (STEERING). THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 HYUNDAI SONATA. WHILE TURNING THE STEERING WHEEL TO THE LEFT, A RATTLING NOISE WAS HEARD COMING FRONT THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE GEAR BOX SHAFT SECTOR FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 130,000.
#1TODAY 9/18/2016 WHILE I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD MY AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON. WHEN I MADE MY FIRST STOP THE LIGHT WHEN OFF. WHEN I BEGAN TO DRIVE AGAIN THE LIGHT CAME ON AND WILL NOT GO OFF.#2 I HAD TO PAY OVER THREE HUNDRED DOLLARS TO HAVE MY STERLING COUPLER REPLACED IT STARTED WITH A LITTLE CLICKING NOISE WHEN I TURN TO THE RIGHT AND AFTERWARDS BEGAN TO PROGRESS AND GET LOUDER. WHILE DRIVING THE CAR THE STEERING WHEEL WILL SHAKE AND VIBRATE UNTIL IT FELT AS IF THE STEERING WHEEL WILL SHAKE A LOSE.#3 THE LIGHTS ON MY CAR WILL FLICKER ON AND OFF WHILE DRIVING IT'S VERY OBVIOUS AT NIGHT IT IS A SCARY SITUATION. ONE NIGHT THEY FLICKER AND DIDN'T WANT TO COME BACK ON RIGHT AWAY UNTIL I HAD TO PULL OVER ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD UNTIL THEY CAME BACK ON. I CALLED MY HYUNDAI DEALER AND WAS TOLD THAT IT WILL BE AN 118 SERVICE CHARGED TO LOOK AT IT BECAUSE MY WARRANTY IS UP. I THEN CONTACTED HYUNDAI USA WHEN THEY FINALLY CONTACTED ME BACK THEY PRETTY MUCH TOLD ME THE SAME THING THE HYUNDAI DEALER SAID. THE PROBLEM WITH MY LIGHTS BEGAN IN 2012 BUT EVERY TIME IT TOOK THE CAR IN THE PROBLEM COULD NOT BE DETECTED SO THEY WOULD SAY AND THIS WAS WHEN I WAS UNDER MY WARRANTY.
DRIVERS SIDE AIR BAG LIGHT WILL NOT EXTINGUISH. AIR BAG LIGHT REMAINS ON. THIS WEB SITE HAS REPORTED 97 COMPLAINTS IN REGARDS TO THE AIR BAG LIGHT. APPARENTLY WITH THE LIGHT ON IN THIS MODEL, THE BAGS WILL NOT DEPLOY IN AN ACCIDENT. THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY CONCERN ESPECIALLY SINCE THIS IS MY 19 YEAR OLD DAUGHTERS CAR. THIS LIGHT REMAINS ON AT ALL TIMES, ALL CONDITIONS ON ALL ROADS. WEATHER CONDITIONS HAVE BEEN VERY DRY FOR A COUPLE OF WEEKS. LIGHT COME ON 9/18/2016
DURING MY ANNUAL NYS INSPECTION, A BULB IN MY LEFT DRIVER SIDE TAILLIGHT WAS OUT. MECHANIC (WHO IS THE ONLY ONE BESIDES HYUNDAI THAT TOUCHES MY CAR) WAS PERPLEXED. ASKED IF I TRIED TO REPLACE THE BULB. SAID NO. SAID IT LOOKED LIKE SOMEONE TRIED TO PULL OUT THE ENTIRE TAILLIGHT ASSEMBLY (LENSES AND ALL.) I PARK IN PRETTY SAFE AREAS AND IN AN UNDERGROUND GARAGE AT HOME. HE HAD TO EPOXY THE ASSEMBLY SO IT WOULDN'T FALL OUT. KNOWS MY CAR INTIMATELY. TODAY, WHILE HAVING IT WASHED, I SAW THE WORKERS POINTING TO THE PASSENGER REAR TAILLIGHT ASSEMBLY. IT HAD POPPED OUT JUST LIKE THE OTHER ONE. I DUCT TAPED IT BEST I CAN. OWNED SEVERAL CARS BUT HAVE NEVER HAD ANY TAILLIGHTS THREATEN TO FALL OFF. MECHANIC SAID IT COULD EASILY FALL OFF IF I HIT A BUMP. VERY STRANGE!

MY CAR HAS THE SAME PROBLEM DESCRIBED BY A LOT OF OTHER PEOPLE ON THIS FORUM. THE STEERING WHEEL MAKES A CLICKING NOISE WHILE TURNING AND ON BRAKING. THE CAR ALSO WOBBLES AT SPEED > 60 MPH. THE AUTHORIZED DEALER BASED IN SOUTH PLAINFIELD NJ IS NOT HELPFUL AND SHOWS A LIST OF PROBLEMS (UNRELATED TO THE STEERING) THAT REQUIRES FIXING AND COSTING A LOT OF MONEY. THIS MAY BE A SAFETY ISSUES THUS NOT SURE WHERE I SHOULD TAKE MY CAR FOR REPAIRS. INDEPENDENT CAR SERVICE GUYS LIKE MAVIS, MIDAS INFORM THAT THE AUTHORIZED DEALER SHOULD FIX IT FOR FREE. ALSO, I HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT THE POWER WARRANTY THAT IS EXTENDED IS ONLY FOR ENGINE PROBLEMS.
PERIODICALLY THE CAR UNLOCKS ALL DOORS AT STARTUP (PUSH BUTTON) AND YOU CAN'T MANUALLY LOCK THEM. ALSO THERE HAVE BEEN TIMES THAT YOU COULD NOT LOCK THE CAR AFTER EXITING WHEN THIS OCCURRED. THE ONLY WORK AROUND I FOUND IS TO "REBOOT" THE CAR. THE TECHNICIANS HAVE RUN VARIOUS TESTS AND DID NOT COME UP WITH A CAUSE OR A SOLUTION. THIS IS VERY UNSAFE FOR ANYONE WITH SMALL CHILDREN. THIS HAS BEEN AN ISSUE WITH THIS VEHICLE SINCE I BOUGHT IT IN JULY 2010. THE LAST DATE THIS OCCURRED WAS ON 9/15/2016. "AIRBAG LIGHT RECALL" I HAVE AN AIRBAG LIGHT ON IN MY CAR NOW AND IT SEEMS LIKE A TON OF OTHER PEOPLE ARE HAVING OR HAVE HAD THE SAME ISSUE! THIS LIGHT POPPED ON ABOUT A MONTH AGO WHILE I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD. I HAVEN'T HAD ANY ACCIDENTS, NOTHING ELSE CHANGED THE LIGHT JUST POPPED ON. I AM REQUESTING THAT THIS BE TURNED INTO A RECALL BECAUSE THIS IS NOT DUE TO ANYTHING THAT I HAVE DONE.
BRAKE TAIL LIGHT CONSTANTLY MALFUNCTIONS. IT HAS BEEN REPLACED SEVERAL TIMES AND IT KEEPS FAILING. WHEN YOU BRAKE THE LIGHT DOES NOT COME ON AND IT COULD CAUSE AN ACCIDENT.
THIS IS A CURRENT RECALL. PLASTIC STEERING COUPLING ($2.00 PART). I HAVE REQUESTED REIMBURSEMENT MORE THAN THREE MONTHS AGO AND HYUNDAI KEEPS DRAGGING THEIR FEET ON MAKING REIMBURSEMENT.
I AM HAVING ISSUES WITH MY AIRBAG LIGHT ALSO MY STEERING COLUMN IS CLICKING , THE LAST TIME THERE WORK ON MY VEHICLE THEY DISCONNECT MY CRUISE CONTROL AND MY BLUETOOTH, WILL NOT USE WEST BROAD HYUNDAI ANYMORE.
I PURCHASED A PRE-OWNED 2011 SONATA IN OCT 2013. IN SEPTEMBER OF 2016 THE STEERING WHEEL AT TIMES WOULD BE HARD TO STEER. THEN AROUND OCTOBER OF 2016 MY STEERING WHEEL STARTED MAKING A CLICKING SOUND WHEN TURNING THE WHEEL AND THE ESC LIGHT REMAINED ILLUMINATED EVEN WHEN I DEPRESSED THE BUTTON NUMEROUS TIMES . WHEN I WENT TO A LOCAL MECHANIC TO FIND OUT WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS, I WAS TOLD IT WAS THE STEERING COLUMN AND THAT I WOULD NEED TO TAKE IT TO HYUNDAI TO FIX IT BECAUSE THE STEERING WOULD HAVE TO BE REPROGRAMMED. I CALLED AND WAS SURPRISED TO LEARN THAT IT WAS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. I HAD TO SHELL OUT $1100 JUST TO HAVE IT REPAIRED.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 HYUNDAI SONATA. WHILE PARKING THE VEHICLE, IT FELT AS IF THE BRAKES DID NOT HOLD AND, SUDDENLY, THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED AND CRASHED INTO A BUILDING WITHOUT WARNING. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE CONTACT AND THE FRONT PASSENGER WERE UNINJURED. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 78,000.
THE STEERING COLUMN MAKE A HORRIBLE RATTLE SOUND WHEN GOING OVER BUMPS AND ALSO MAKES A POPPING NOISE WHEN YOU TURN THE STEERING WHEEL TO THE LEFT AND TO THE RIGHT.
THIS IS A CONTINUATION OF A FEW MINUTES AGO. WHEN THE AIRBAG DEPLOYED THERE WAS A BIG BLACK HOLE IN THE MIDDLE OF IT & A LOT OF SMOKE CAME OUT. WHEN I FIRST GOT TO THE HOSPITAL, THEY SAID I HAD PNEUMONIA , I GUESS FROM THE SMOKE, & FROM THERE THEY SAID I HAD ALL THESE BLOOD CLOTS.
I COLLIDED WITH ANOTHER CAR WHICH WAS CAUSED BY ANOTHER DRIVER ZIG ZAGGING ACROSS I 95. MY AIRBAG DEPLOYED, AS IT SHOULD, BUT THE PAIN IN MY CHEST WAS SO BAD THAT IT HURT TO BREATHE. NOW THEY SAY THAT I HAVE BLOOD CLOTS IN MY LEG & LUNGS, & WATER AROUND MY HEART . I NEVER HAD ANYTHING LIKE THAT UNTIL THE ACCIDENT. MY CAR WAS TOTALED & I AM IN THE HOSPITAL AT THIS TIME.
AIRBAG INDICATOR LIGHT IS ON, SEEN ON INSTRUMENT CLUSTER PANEL. DEALERSHIP DIAGNOSTIC DETERMINED THE ISSUE IS A FAULTY CLOCK SPRING. CAR HAS NOT BEEN IN ANY ACCIDENTS. CAR RECEIVES ROUTINE MAINTENANCE.
THE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT REMAINED LIT AFTER STARTING THE VEHICLE. DON MOORE HYUNDAI DEALERSHIP ADVISED ME THAT MY AIR BAG WILL NOT DEPLOY IF A FRONT END CRASH WERE TO OCCUR BUT THEY DID NOT HAVE THE PART NECESSARY TO REPLACE IT IN STOCK. THIS IS THE DRIVER SIDE AIRBAG. THE VEHICLE IS ONLY 5 YRS OLD AND HAS BEEN MAINTENANCED REGULARLY. THE 2011 MODEL IS THE ONLY YEAR THAT IS NOT INCLUDED IN AIR BAG RECALL. SAFETY IS EXPECTED FOR MORE THAN 5 YRS OR 60,000 MILES. I WAS ADVISED THAT THE PART IS A COIL OR SPRING BEHIND THE AIRBAG ALLOWING IT TO DEPLOY.

MOST OF THE ISSUES WERE THE AIRBAG COIL SPRING NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. IF THIS IS THE CASE THERE NEEDS TO BE A RECALL ON THE AIRBAG SPRINGS. ONCE THE AIRBAG LIGHT IS ILLUMINATED ON THE DASHBOARD THE AIRBAG WILL NOT DEPLOY. THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE AND NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED. I SPOKE WITH A REPRESENTATIVE WITH HYUNDAI AND THEY INFORMED ME THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO ABOUT THE ISSUE BESIDES TAKE IT TO HYUNDAI AND HAVE THEM RUN A DIAGNOSTIC ON THE VEHICLE AND GET IT REPAIRED. THE REPRESENTATIVE DID NOT SEEM AT ALL CONCERNED FOR ME OR MY FAMILY SAFETY WITH HER RESPONSE. IF YOU COULD PLEASE RESEARCH THIS INFORMATION IT WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED.
THE STEERING WHEEL IS RATTLING ANY TIME I GO OVER A BUMP. ITS PROGRESSIVELY GETTING WORSE.
I TOOK MY VEHICLE IN FOR A RECALL IN THE POWER STEERING. A FEW DAYS LATER, THERE WAS A CLUNKING SOUND WHEN I TURNED MY STEERING WHEEL WHEN CAR WAS NOT INMOTION. ON THE FREEWAY, WHEN EXCEEDING SPEED OF 65MPH, MY STEERING WHEEL VIOLENTLY SHOOK AND FELT LIKE I WAS LOOSING CONTROL OF THE CAR. TOOK IT BACK TO HYUNDAI AND THEY SAID THIS WAS NOT BECAUSE OF THE RECALL WORK THEY DID AND A COINCIDENCE. I STRONGLY DISAGREE! THEY CHARGED ME $500.00 TO REPLACE THE STEERING COLUMN/COUPLER.
MY VEHICLE HAS ABOUT 85K MILES ON IT. I AM EXPERIENCING A CLUNKING SOUND WHEN TURNING THE STEERING WHEEL. THE VEHICLE STEERING HAS ALSO BECOME QUITE LOOSE/HAS PLAY WHILE DRIVING AT SLOW SPEEDS. THESE SYMPTOMS ARE MOST NOTICEABLE WHILE STATIONARY OR IN MOTION BELOW 40 MPH. THE LOOSENESS SEEMS TO GO AWAY WHEN I REACH HIGHWAY SPEEDS. THE ISSUE WAS DIAGNOSED AS A BAD STEERING COUPLER BY MY HYUNDAI DEALER. HYUNDAI HAS ISSUED A TSB FOR REPAIRING THIS ISSUE THAT CLAIMS IT DOES NOT CAUSE ANY STEERING ISSUES. ONLY THE CLUNK SOUND. THIS IS FALSE. MY STEERING PERFORMANCE HAS CHANGED. MY STEERING WHEEL DID NOT USED TO BE LOOSE AT ANY SPEED. THAT IS DEFINITELY A SAFETY AND PERFORMANCE ISSUE. KIA USES THE EXACT SAME PART AND HAS THE EXACT SAME ISSUE AND TSB FOR SOME OF THEIR CARS. THEY HAVE ISSUED AN EXTENDED WARRANTY TO COVER THEIR CARS FOR THAT SPECIFIC FAILURE. HYUNDAI NEEDS TO DO THE SAME THING.
POWER STEERING COUPLER IS FAILING. SERVICE AT DEALERSHIP TOLD ME I WOULD NEED TO HAVE THIS REPLACED. I LEFT THE DEALER AND DROVE BACK IN BECAUSE I HEARD A NOISE WHEN I TURNED THE STEERING WHEEL WITH THE ENGINE ON. WAS TOLD IT WAS THE COUPLING. LOOKED ON THE WEB AT HOME. THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM. SHOULD BE A RECALL.
