RECENTLY THE STEERING HAS A LITTLE SLACK AND WHEN I HIT A BUMP, IT SOUNDS AND FEELS LIKE THE STEERING WHEEL WILL END UP IN MY LAP. MY WIFE DOESN'T WANT THE KIDS TO RIDE WITH ME. THIS CAR HAS VERY FEW MILES- ONLY 40,400 MILES- AND SHOULDN'T CLANK AND RATTLE WHEN YOU ENCOUNTER MINOR BUMPS. I TOOK THE CAR FOR OTHER RECALLS AND WAS TOLD THE HYUNDAI RECALL 097 & NHTSA #10V-426 WASN'T FOR MY CAR AND I'M OUT OF WARRANTY (UNDER 60,000 BUT PAST 5 YEARS AS OF 5 MONTHS AGO). IT WAS GOING TO COST A LITTLE OVER $300 TO FIX (MOSTLY LABOR) AS THE PART WAS $2.99. WHEN I ASKED IF IT WAS A SAFETY CONCERN, I WAS TOLD NO, ONLY NUISANCE ISSUE. I'LL SAY SO- IT JARS MY EYE TEETH. RE-ENTRY FROM SPACE IS PROBABLY SMOOTHER.
THE 2011 HYUNDAI SONATA PNEUMATIC HOOD LIFTS, BOTH LEFT AND RIGHT, HAVE FAILED. THESE PNEUMATIC LIFT STRUTS DO NOT HOLD THE VEHICLE HOOD UP WHEN THE HOOD IS RELEASED AND LIFTED UP. WHEN LIFTED UP THE HOOD IMMEDIATELY FALLS DOWN HARD BECAUSE THERE IS NO SUPPORT ANYMORE TO KEEP THE HOOD UP. THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS BECAUSE A PERSON'S ARM OR HAND OR BOTH COULD BE SEVERELY INJURED OR POSSIBLY SEVERED OFF. THIS HAPPENS WHEN THE VEHICLE IS STATIONARY AND THE HOOD IS RELEASED AND OPENED TO REPLACE WINDOW WASHER FLUID OR TO PERFORM ANY OTHER MAINTENANCE ITEM. BOTH THE LEFT AND RIGHT PNEUMATIC HOOD STRUTS MAKE A NOISE INDICATING THAT THERE IS NO PNEUMATIC SUPPORT FUNCTION TO MAKE THEM WORK SAFELY AND PROPERLY. CAN VERY DANGEROUS IF SMALL CHILDREN WERE CLOSE TO THE HOOD OR HAD THEIR FINGERS IN THE WAY WHEN PUTTING THE VEHICLE HOOD UP.
WHILE MY CAR IS IN MOTION THERE IS A LOUD KNOCKING NOISE COMING FROM MY STEERING COLUMN AND THE STEERING WHEEL WILL ALSO SHAKE.
"TAKATA RECALL" "TAKATA RECALL" CLUCKING NOISE IN STEERING WHEEL. BAD COUPLER WEARING OUT . THIS IS DEFINETLY A SAFETY HAZARD. PART THAT WAS PUT IN WHEN THEY MADE THE CAR IS VERY BAD. MAY LOSE CONTROL OF STEERING . THIS SHOULD BE RECALLED. STEERING FEELS VERY LOOSE.
AFTER TAKING MY 2011 HYUNDAI SONATA IN FOR ENGINE RECALL MY STEERING WHEEL IS NOW MAKING NOISE AND IT MOVES TO THE LEFT ON ITS OWN NOW. ALSO MY RIGHT AXLE IS LEAKING GREASE AND THE CAR HAS ABOUT 69,000 MILES ON IT. I BOUGHT IT NEW.HYUNDAI DEALER SAID THE NOISE IS COMING FROM A COUPLING AND WOULD COST 270.00. THEY ALSO SAID IT WAS NOT PART OF THE RECALL FOR STEERING COLUMN INTERMEDIATE SHAFT WHICH I TOOK THE CAR IN FOR WHEN THAT RECALL CAME OUT.I DONT KNOW WHAT THEY DO OR IF THEY DO ANYTHING WHEN THEY SUPPOSEDLY LOOK AT YOUR CAR DUE TO A RECALL. MY CAR WAS DOING GREAT WHEN I TOOK IT IN FOR THE RECALLS UNTIL THE LAST TIME. ALSO WHEN I TOOK MY CAR IN FOR ENGINE RECALL MY OIL DIPSTICK WAS YELLOW. BUT NOW I HAVE AN ORANGE OIL DIPSTICK. BACK TO THE PART ABOUT THE STEERING NOISE IT MAKES NOISE SITTING STILL AND MOVING AND SOMETIMES IT GETS LOUDER IF THE ROAD IS NOT AS SMOOTH.ALSO HOW DO THEY KNOW IT IS THE COUPLING AND NOT SOMETHING ELSE SUCH AS WHAT THE RECALL WAS FOR WHEN THEY JUST LISTENED TO MY CAR AND NOT INSPECT IT TO BE SURE. THE COUPLING SHOULD HAVE BEEN INCLUDED IN THE RECALL AND IF NOT IT NEEDS TO BE RECALLED.THIS SOUNDS DANGEROUS. THE NOISE ALSO GETS LOUDER WHEN I TURN THE WHEEL WHILE DRIVING. SOMETIMES IT SOUND LIKE THE CAR IS RATTLING AND SOMETIMES SOUNDS LIKE A SHOCK ABSORBER STARTING TO GO BAD.
DURING A VISIT TO THE HYUNDAI DEALERSHIP TO ADDRESS CURRENT RECALL ISSUES WITH MY VEHICLE, I WAS TOLD THE STEERING COUPLER NEEDS TO BE REPLACED AND IT IS OUT OF WARRANTY. I ASKED WHAT WILL HAPPEN IF I DON'T GET IT REPLACED AND I WAS TOLD "NOTHING, THE NOISE WILL JUST DRIVE YOU CRAZY". MY RESEARCH TELLS ME THAT SOME SONATAS HAVE BEEN RECALLED FOR THIS SAME ISSUE AND THAT FAILURE TO GET IT REPLACED IS A SAFETY ISSUE. I AM LEARNING THAT THIS ISSUE IS AFFECTING VEHICLES THAT WERE NOT PART OF THE HYUNDAI RECALL SEVERAL YEARS AGO. WHAT AM I TO DO? MILEAGE IS 60,246.
THE STEERING COLUMN STARTED TO MAKE A NOISE ABOUT A MONTH AGO. THE NOISE SOUNDS LIKE SOMETHING IS LOOSE AND HAS GOTTEN WORSE OVER TIME. THE CAR IS NOW PULLING TO THE LEFT. THE NOISE HAPPENS WHEN THE CAR IS IN ANY GEAR. ALSO, THE CAR STEERING WILL VIBRATE SOMETIMES AT HIGHER SPEEDS.

IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED FOR NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V759000 (SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC) AND DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO VIBRATE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 96,000.

WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS BEING SERVICED ACCORDING TO NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V568000 (ENGINE), THE TECHNICIAN INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE RECALL WAS NOT ABLE TO BE SERVICED. THE MALFUNCTION INDICATOR LAMP AND THE MILEAGE CONTROL CIRCUIT NEEDED TO BE REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. AS I APPLIED THE BRAKES I COULD FEEL THE ABS TRYING TO KICK IN AND THEN THE CAR STARTED EXCELLERATING. I WAS APPROACHING A VERY BUSY STREET SO I PUT THE CAR INTO A SNOWBANK. I HAD THE CAR TOWED TO DEALERSHIP, IN FEAR OF DRIVING IT, TO GET OT INSPECTED. MIND YOU, THIS MAKE AND MODEL CAR HAS HAD SEVERAL RECALLS. WHILE IN SHOP THEY FIXED TWO RECALLS #'S 132 AND 136 AND THEN THEY DIAGNOSED THAT THE BRAKE SENSOR MALFUNCTIONED AND THAT THEY HAD TO RECODE IT. I WAS FORTUNATE TO HAVE AVOIDED WHAT COULD HAVE BEEN A MAJOR ACCIDENT. THEY, HYUNDAI, DON'T REALLY WANT TO STAND BEHIND THEIR PRODUCT ONCE IT'S PAST WARRANTY.
TAKARA RECALLS AFTER BUYING SEVERAL NEW BATTERIES MY SONATA 2011 WON'T START AND CONTINUES TO DO THE SAME OVER AND OVER AGAIN....WHAT IS WRONG? AND IS THERE A RECALL?
I TOOK MY CAR IN TO A HYUNDAI DEALER FOR CAMPAIGN #133, 136, 132, AND WAS TOLD THAT THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE STEERING COLUMN, IT WILL BE $400 TO FIX. UPON FURTHER RESEARCH, I LEARNED OF A OLD RECALL IN 2010 FOR THIS SAME PROBLEM, BUT ONLY ON CERTAIN VIN NUMBERS. THERE ARE TO MANY COMPLAINTS FOR THIS NOT TO BE REOPENED WITH ALL VIN NUMBERS INCLUDED. OBVIOUSLY THE MANUFACTURE CONTINUED TO MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE ON ALL VEHICLES.

THE FAILURE ALSO RECURRED WHILE DRIVING OVER 60 MPH. THE FAILURE RECURRED NUMEROUS TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 105,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.

THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V568000 (ENGINE). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 83,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
VEHICLE IN MOTION RANDOMLY TURNS ON CHECK ENGINE LIGHT FOR A SECOND, WILL HESITATE AND THEN SUDDENLY SURGE AS IF TRYING TO CATCH UP. TRANSMISSION SEEMS TO BE THE MAIN ISSUE.
AT 62,000 MILES THE STEERING WHEEL FELT TIGHT, AND THEN SUDDENLY IT FELT LOOSE WHEN I TURNED THE WHEEL TO THE RIGHT, AND THEN IT STARTED A CLICKING NOISE EVERY TIME I TURNED THE WHEEL TO THE RIGHT OR LEFT. OVER THE NEXT 3,000 MILES IT HAS BECOME PROGRESSIVELY WORSE WITH CLICKING AND RATTLING ANY TIME I TURN THE WHEEL, EVEN SITTING STILL. GOING OVER ANY BUMP MAKES A RATTLING NOISE IN STEERING COLUMN. I SEE THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM IN 2011 SONATA'S AND WONDER WHY THERE IS NO RECALL?!!
WHEN STOPPED, TURNING THE STEERING WHEEL LEFT OR RIGHT PRODUCES A THUMPING SOUND/FEEL IN THE STEERING WHEEL. STEERING WHEEL ALSO VIBRATES AT HIGHER SPEEDS, AROUND 70 MPH. DEALER DIAGNOSED THIS PROBLEM AS A FAILURE IN THE STEERING COLUMN, W/SMART KEY - 2011 HYUNDAI SONATA [563103Q400] . DEALER QUOTED $1300 TO REPAIR. I AM CURRENTLY ASKING THE DEALER TO REEVALUATE THE CONDITION TO SEE IF THIS IS REALLY A PROBLEM WITH JUST THE STEERING COUPLING, SONATA - 2011 HYUNDAI SONATA [564003Q000]. SO FAR NO REPAIR HAS BEEN MADE.

THERE IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE WITH MY SONATA'S STEERING. I HAVE READ A TON OF COMPLAINTS ON THE SAME PART FAILURE, BUT AM UNABLE TO LOCATE A RECALL FOR THE RUBBER COUPLER THAT CONNECTS THE ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING TO THE ACTUAL STEERING COLUMN. I STARTED HEARING A CLICKING NOISE IN MY STEERING WHEEL WHEN THE WHEEL WAS TURNED IN EITHER DIRECTION FROM CENTER. IT DID NOT MAKE A DIFFERENCE IF THE CAR WAS MOVING OR AT STOP. THE NOISE CONTINUED GETTING WORSE OVER A 3 MONTH TIME FRAME AND IS NOW MORE OF A THUD NOISE. THE NOISE ITSELF IS NOT THE SAFETY PROBLEM, ONLY A SIDE EFFECT. THE SAFETY ISSUE IS THAT THE SAME PART THAT IS FAILING CAUSING THE NOISE HAS NOW STARTED TO CAUSE THE STEERING WHEEL TO VIOLENTLY SHAKE BACK AND FORTH ANYTIME THE CAR GOES FASTER THAN 55-60MPH. HOW CAN SOMEONE MAINTAIN CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE WHEN THE STEERING WHEEL IS SHAKING SO BADLY, AND HOW EXACTLY IS THIS NOT A SAFETY ISSUE? IT IS SCARY TO DRIVE TO SAY THE LEAST, BUT I HAVE TO DRIVE 80 MILES ROUND TRIP DAILY FOR WORK. MY ARMS ARE ALMOST NUMB BY THE TIME I MAKE IT TO WORK OR BACK HOME FROM BEING SHAKING ALMOST THE ENTIRE WAY. IT IS NOT LIKE I CAN DRIVE THE CAR SLOW ENOUGH ON THE FREEWAYS HERE IN THE DFW AREA, THAT WOULD BE A HOLE OTHER SAFETY TOPIC. I GUESS I'M GOING TO HAVE TO FORK OUT THE $3-400 TO FIX IT. WHY CAN'T NHTSA JUST ADD THIS PART TO THE EPS RECALL #143 THAT COVERS THE EPS CONTROL UNIT? IF THE DEALER HAS TO TAKE IT A PART TO REPLACE THE EPS CONTROL UNIT, WHY WOULD THEY NOT INSTALL A NEW COUPLER? ITS, FUNNY THOUGH, YOU KNOW HYUNDAI IS AWARE OF THE ISSUE, THEY CHANGED THE DESIGN OF THE COUPLER FROM A RUBBER ONE TO A METAL ONE ON THE NEWER MODELS, BUT HAVE YET TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT THEIR POOR DESIGN OR EARLIER MODEL YEARS. THERE HAVE BEEN SEVERAL RECALLS FOR ADDITIONAL ITEMS ON THIS CAR THAT WERE NOT AS SEVERE AS THIS ISSUE IS, SO I'M HOPPING NHTSA ISSUE THE RECALL.
THE STEERING COLUMN IS LOOSE AND "CLICKS" WHENEVER THE STEERING WHEEL IS PLACED CLOSE TO THE NEUTRAL POSITION, CAUSING A FEELING OF "LOOSE STEERING" TO THE DRIVER. THE DEALER WAS CALLED AND CONFIRMED THIS HAS BEEN A RECURRING PROBLEM FOR HYUNDAI CARS MANUFACTURED IN MY YEAR, YET THEY SAID THERE WAS NO RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM. IT IS A DEFINITE SAFETY ISSUE WHICH SEEMS TO BE GETTING WORSE, AFFECTING THE STEERING AND OVERALL CONTROL OF THE CAR.
MY 2011 HYUNDAI SONATA GLS HAS A KNOCKING IN THE STEERING WHEN I TURN THE WHEEL IT SOUNDS AS IF SOMETHING IS LOOSE AND ALSO KNOCKING WHEN I HIT A SPEED BUMP. I CONTACTED HYUNDAI AND THEY SAID MY CAR IS NOT ONE THE 100,000 VIN NUMBERS THAT ARE AFFECTED BY THIS RECALL ALTHOUGH MY CAR IS HAVING THE SAME ISSUES WITH WHAT IS IN THE RECALL. THE MAIN ISSUE IS THEY ARE ONLY FULFILLING THE RECALL TO A SMALL AMOUNT OF SONATAS MADE AT A SPECIFIC FACTORY WHEN THEY ARE MANY OTHER CARS WITH THIS DEFECT. HYUNDAI IS CHARGING OVER $300 FOR THE REPAIR. AS I CONTINUE TO DRIVE THE CAR IT IS GETTING MORE LOOSE AND COULD EVENTUALLY CAUSE AN ACCIDENT
CLICKING IN STEERING WHEEL. SHAKES VIOLENTLY AT 60 MPH. NOISE COMES FROM THE STEERING WHEEL WHEN U HIT A BUMP. DEALER KNEW EXACTLY THE PROBLEM AND THE COST BEFORE I COULD EVEN EXPLAIN. EVIDENTLY, THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH HYUNDAI THAT NEED TO BE FIXED FOR FREE AND NOT $350 LATER.
I WENT TO THE DEALERSHIP BECAUSE OF THE UNSTABLE STEERING. THEY TOLD ME THAT COUPLER WAS BROKEN AND IT IS VERY COMMON ISSUE WITH 2011 HYUNDAI SONATA. BUT THERE IS NO RECALL ON THIS. EVEN WHEN THE COUPLER WAS REPLACED, THE CAR IS STILL UNSTABLE WITH STEERING. THERE IS A RECALL ON HYUNDAI SONATA FOR ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING SYSTEM. MY CAR WAS NOT INCLUDED, BUT I THINK MY CAR IS ALSO AFFECTED BY THE PROBLEM. I AM AFRAID THIS CAR IS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE. I THINK NHTSA SHOULD EXTEND THE EPS RECALL ON HYUNDAI SONATAS TO ALL 2011 HYUNDAI SONATA.
HYUNDAI RECALL 132 FOR METAL CHIPS ON CRANKSHAFT - DEALER SAYS CAR IS FINE EVEN THOUGH IT'S USING A QUART OF OIL EVERY 600-800 MILES NOW, AND IT KEEPS GETTING WORSE. THE CAR USED ZERO OIL UNTIL AROUND 77K MILES, THEN THE RECALL CAME OUT AND IT SEEMS THE TYPICAL RESPONSE FROM HYUNDAI IS TO DENY ANY RESPONSIBILITY FOR THIS PROBLEM

I HAVE HAD THE BATTERIES CHANGED SEVERAL TIMES AND IT STILL WON'T WORK, MY FRONT SUSPENSION IS MAKING A VERY LOUD NOISE WHEN I STEP ON MY BRAKES(EVERYTIME I'M IN MOTION) I'VE HAD NEW BRAKE PADS, ROTORS AND $700 MICHELIN TIRES PUT ON IN AUG 2017 AND THIS NOISE IS GETTING WORST, THE WIPER BLADES ARE TOP OF THE LINE AND I CANNOT DRIVE AT NIGHT OR IN THE RAIN BECAUSE IT'S VERY HARD TO SEE, LASTLY I TRY TO USE MY CRUISE CONTROL ON THE (HIGHWAY) AND I SET IT AND BOUNCES BACK DOWN VERY LOW

THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO, AFTER DIAGNOSING THE FAILURE, CONTACTED A LOCAL DEALER AND REPORTED THAT THE PIGTAIL ON THE FUEL PUMP FAILED AND BURNED. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS OUT OF WARRANTY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT UNDER WARRANTY. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 57,543.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBERS: 15V759000 (STEERING) AND 15V568000 (STEERING); HOWEVER, IT WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBERS: 15V759000 (SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC), 15V568000 (ENGINE), AND 14V434000 (POWER TRAIN). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 69,000. PARTS DISTRIBUTION DISCONNECT.
WHEN DRIVING, OR STOPPED, AND YOU TURN THE STEERING WHEEL THERE IS A CLUNKING NOISE AND A DEAD SPOT IN THE STEERING WHEEL. AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS IF YOU HIT THAT SPOT ON THE STEERING WHEEL THE WHEEL WOULD START TO SHAKE AND VIBRATE AS IF THERE WAS A FRONT END ALIGNMENT PROBLEM. THE MILEAGE ON THE VEHICLE WAS 71, 657 WHEN I BROUGHT IT TO THE DEALER FOR REPAIR. THEY INFORMED ME THAT A FLEXIBLE COUPLING IN THE STEERING COLUMN HAD "WORN OUT" AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE COST WAS ESTIMATED AT $568 WHICH INCLUDED THE COST OF THE PART AT $3.53 AND THE REMAINDER LABOR AND TAX. THE CONTACT LATER RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V568000 (ENGINE) AND WAS ALSO INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V759000 (SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC). THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 95,000. PARTS DISTRIBUTION DISCONNECT.
THE STEERING WHEEL SHAKES AND VIBRATES BADLY AND LOUDLY WHENEVER APPLYING PRESSURE TO BRAKES, ESPECIALLY IF YOU ARE SLOWING DOWN FROM GOING 50 MPH+. THE STEERING COLUMN ALSO CLICKS AND HAS A LOT OF GIVE WHENEVER TURNING. HYUNDAI MECHANIC SAYS REASON IS THE STEERING COUPLER IS LOOSE AND NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. I HAVE READ NUMEROUS FORUMS AND DISCUSSION BOARDS, AND THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE ARE HAVING THIS ISSUE, AND IT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED. I BOUGHT MY CAR BRAND-NEW AND HAVE LESS THAN 60,000 MILES ON IT. APPARENTLY THIS ISSUE IS NOT RELATED TO THE 2010-2011 INVESTIGATION WHERE THE STEERING COLUMN WAS BECOMING SEPARATED AND CAUSING THE SAME ISSUE. THOSE CARS WERE RECALLED AND FIXED. TO FIX THIS PROBLEM COSTS AROUND $320 DUE TO THE MECHANICS HAVING TO REMOVE THE STEERING COLUMN. NO RECALL AS OF YET COVERS THIS ISSUE. MECHANIC ALSO WARNED THAT IF IT IS NOT FIXED, THE STEERING COLUMN CAN BECOME LOOSE AND IN EXTREME CASES, COME OFF. THIS IS A SERIOUS PROBLEM WITH THIS MODEL AND NEEDS TO BE INVESTIGATED.

CAR STILL IDLES BUT DOES NOT ACCELERATE WHILE IN MOTION WHILE DRIVING IN THE DARK (ONLY) MY TRACTION LIGHT COMES ON. DURING THIS TIME, WHILE I AM DRIVING, THE CAR FAILS TO ACCELERATE. MY AIRBAG LIGHT WENT ON AT AROUND 90K MILES. I REPLACED THE CLOCK SPRING ON THE STEERING WHEEL BUT IT DID NOT FIX IT. I FOUND THAT THERE ARE HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE AIRBAG LIGHT FOR THE SAME 2011 HYUNDAI SONATA (SEE WEBSITE HTTP://WWW.ABOUTAUTOMOBILE.COM/COMPLAINT/2011/HYUNDAI/SONATA/AIRBAG). THE DEALER SAYS THAT IT IS NOT UNDER WARRANTY AND THAT THERE ARE NO RECALLS FOR IT. I AM AFRAID THAT THE AIRBAG WILL NOT DEPLOY IN AN ACCIDENT. PLEASE HELP.

WHEN I TOOK MY SONATA TO CHANTILLY VA DEALER FOR HYUNDAI RECALL CAMPAIGN 132, AFTER INSPECTING THE VEHICLE, SERVICE MANAGER TOLD ME THAT THERE WAS SOME CLICKING NOISE STARTING TO HAPPEN IN STEERING FLEX COUPLING DUE TO WEAR OUT. I WAS QUOTED AN ESTIMATE OF $450 PLUS TAX TO FIX IT. MY CAR HAS 61K MILES BOUGHT IN NOVEMBER 2010. I WAS TOLD THAT I JUST PASSED WARRANTY PERIOD. I HAVE BEEN HAVING MY VEHICLE SERVICED REGULARLY AT FAIRFAX HYUNDAI DEALER AND WAS NEVER INFORMED OF THIS PROBLEM BEFORE.

DASHBOARD WARNING SIGNS STARTED BLINKING (WRENCH, BATTERY, ETC) WHILE I WAS DRIVING THE CAR ON A CITY 4-LANE HIGHWAY (ROUTE 1 IN BALTIMORE) AT A SPEED OF 30-50 MPH. AFTER STARTING AND STOPPING MY CAR, A SONATA HYBRID, SEVERAL TIMES, EVENTUALLY I LOST ALL POWER TO THE CAR SUCH THAT THE BRAKES AND STEERING WOULD NOT WORK. AT THIS POINT I WAS ONLY GOING ~10 MPH. LUCKILY I WAS AT THE MALL AT THIS POINT AND THE CAR CAME TO A STOP ON ITS OWN. THE CAR WOULD NOT START AND THE DOOR LOCKS AND FOB DID NOT WORK. I THEN HAD IT TOWED TO THE DEALER. THEY REPLACED AN ELECTRICAL BOARD OF SOME TYPE AND THEN WERE ABLE TO DRIVE IT BUT ALSO NOTED ALL OF THE DASHBOARD ALARMS GOING OFF. THEIR CURRENT WORKING DIAGNOSIS IS THAT THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE CONNECTION TO THE ELECTRIC BATTERY CAUSING HIGH RESISTANCE. IT IS STILL UNDER REPAIR AT THE DEALER. I AM WORRIED THAT THIS COULD HAPPEN AGAIN.
