THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 10V457000(STEERING), ALTHOUGH THE CONTACT WAS EXPERIENCING AN IDENTICAL FAILURE. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 54,500. TINGING METAL SOUND WHILE DRIVING. IMMEDIATELY AFTER START IT DIES, OIL LIGHT COMES ON MODERATE ACCELERATION, SHIFTS ERRATIC AND HARD IN MULTIPLE GEARS
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2011 HYUNDAI SONATA. WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING AND CRASHED INTO THE REAR OF ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED, BUT FAILED. THE BRAKES WERE REPAIRED THREE TIMES PRIOR TO THE CRASH. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT SALVAGE YARD. THE CONTACT WAS NOT INJURED. THE VEHICLE WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBERS: 15V759000 (SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC) AND 15V568000 (ENGINE). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 88,000. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 HYUNDAI SONATA. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE STEERING POWER STEERING SEIZED AND THE EPS LIGHT ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE FAILURE OCCURRED INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE EPS CONTROL UNIT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT WAS NOTIFIED OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V190000 (STEERING) AFTER THE FAILURE OCCURRED; HOWEVER, THE PART TO DO THE REPAIR WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 65,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
STEERING COLUMN SHAKY AND MAKING CLUNKS, WITH INTERMITTENT LOSS OF CONTROL OF STEERING WHEN GOING OVER BUMPS AND POT-HOLES. CREATES A RATTLING NOISE AND SHAKES THE STEERING WHEEL VIGOROUSLY.
FIRST, THIS IS MY 2ND COMPLAINT I'VE FILED. MY CAR HAS BEEN REPAIRED MANY TIMES FOR RECALLS (ONE IS BEING DONE CURRENTLY FOR THE SECOND TIME) AND OTHER WARRANTY REPAIRS. THIS IS THE LIST SO FAR: IDLER PULLY, TENSIONER ARM AND BELT, STEERING COLUMN (WHICH BROKE WHILE DRIVING AFTER I HAD TO GET 4 NEW TIRES AND 4-WHEEL ALIGNMENT (24000 MILES) THAT THEY SAID I HAD TO GET), PREMATURE STARTER FAILURE, SHORT BLOCK, LEATHER AROUND GEAR SHIFTER WORE HOLE IN IT, AND MY CAR HAS NOW BEEN IN THE SERVICE DEPT. SINCE DEC. 17TH BECAUSE THE ENGINE FAILED AGAIN. THEY ORDERED A LONG BLOCK FOR IT BUT HYUNDAI MOTORS AMERICA CANNOT KEEP UP WITH GETTING THE ENGINES MANUFACTURED AND SENT TO ALL THE DEALERSHIPS FAST ENOUGH FOR THE RECALL.I AM NOW THE 12TH CAR DOWN ON THE LIST. I STILL HAVE ANOTHER OUTSTANDING RECALL FOR THE BRAKE STOP PAD, AND I NOTICED RECENTLY THE REARVIEW MIRROR IS FADED IN SPOTS (DARK WORN AREAS). I CONTACTED HYUNDAI MOTOR AMERICA PUBLIC RELATIONS HOTLINE. IT TOOK THEM 2 WEEKS TO GET BACK TO ME. THE MAN THAT CALLED ME ASKED FOR INFORMATION FROM ME, HE CALLED THE DEALERSHIP, AND THEN SENT ME A LETTER STATING THEY WOULD ONLY REIMBURSE ME A PORTION OF MY REPAIRS I HAD TO PAY FOR. IN THE LETTER, ALSO WAS A RELEASE OF LIABILITY FOR ME TO SIGN. THAT'S NOT GOING TO HAPPEN!!!! THE RELEASE WOULD HAVE MADE THEM NOT LIABLE TO PAST OR ANY FUTURE SITUATIONS, INCLUDING DEATH. HOW STUPID DO THEY REALLY THINK WE ARE? THEY'VE HAD WELL BEYOND AN ACCEPTABLE AMOUNT OF TIME TO TAKE CARE OF THESE RECALLS. IT'S TIME TO BUY THE VEHICLES BACK AND REBUILD THEIR IMAGE. IF NOT, THERE WILL BE MORE RECALLS OR EVENTS THAT COULD LEAD TO DEATH. HOLDING THEM ACCOUNTABLE IS THE ONLY ACCEPTABLE WAY TO HANDLE THIS.PEOPLE ARE STILL OUT THERE DRIVING UNSAFE VEHICLES!!
"TAKATA RECALL" I WAS DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE THE OTHER DAY AND MY CAR WAS SHAKING, SO SCARY. I'M NOT A MECHANIC, BUT I KNOW WHEN SOMETHING IS WRONG. THE LIGHTS ON MY CAR GETS SO HOT THAT THEY KEEP GOING OUT AND THE CAR IS A DRIFTER. I JUST HAPPEN TO ENTER MY VIN# IN THE SYSTEM AND I WAS SHOCK. I HAVE BEEN DRIVING THIS CAR NOT KNOWING MY CAR HAS 4 RECALLS ON IT. I WOULD LIKE TO GET ANOTHER CAR BECAUSE AT THIS POINT I DO NOT FEEL SAFE DRIVING MY FAMILY EVEN IF THEY SERVICED IT. JUST HEARING ALL THE PROBLEMS THAT WRONG WITH THIS CAR, I DO NOT FEEL SAFE. WHO DO I NEED TO TALK TO ABOUT THIS MATTER?
I BOUGHT MY HYUNDAI SONATA GLS 2011, IN 2010, AND SINCE THEN THERE HAVE BEEN SEVERAL RECALLS ON IT. I HAVE DONE MY RESEARCH, AND HAVE FOUND THAT A MANUFACTURER MUST REPAIR, REPLACE, OR SUPPLY A NEW VEHICLE TO THE OWNER WHEN A RECALL IS MANDATED. I HAVE TAKEN MY VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR EACH RECALL, AND WHAT THEY DO IS INSPECT THE VEHICLE, AND IN MOST CASES, TELL ME MY CAR DOESN'T APPLY TO THE RECALL AS THEY FIND NOTHING WRONG. I AM DISTURBED BY THIS BECAUSE AGAIN, EVERYTHING I HAVE READ, EVERYONE I HAVE TALKED TO, ETC ... TELLS ME THAT THE DEALER MUST DO SOMETHING IN ORDER FOR THE RECALL TO BE CONSIDERED COMPLETE. I AM DRIVING AROUND IN A VEHICLE WITH THINGS WRONG WITH IT, TRANSPORTING A TODDLER, AND AM STUCK WITH FINDING RESOLUTION ON MY OWN. HOW IS THIS FAIR TO THE CONSUMER? THE MANUFACTURER HAS ALL OF ITS MONEY, AS MY CAR IS PAID OFF, AND MY CAR ISN'T WORTH ANYTHING FOR TRADE OR RESELL DUE TO NEGLIGENCE. IF I CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE BY FILING A COMPLAINT, AND POSSIBLY SAVE SOMEONE'S LIFE, I AM WILLING TO TRY EVERYTHING AND ANYTHING IN MY POWER TO DO SO.
I AM HAVING TROUBLE STARTING AND COMPLETELY SHUTTING MY CAR DOWN. WHEN I HIT THE BUTTON TO START IT I GET A RATTLE NOISE AND THE THE ENGINE DOESN'T TURN OVER. WHEN I TRY TO SHUT IT OFF THE DISPLAY IN THE CAR WILL TELL ME TO SHIFT TO PARK WHEN ALREADY IN PARK AND THE RADIO WILL NOT SHUT OFF. I HAVE TO RE-START THE CAR AND MOVE THE SHIFT LEVER FROM PARK TO DRIVE AND BACK TO GET IT TO SHUT DOWN. THIS GOES ON SEVERAL TIMES SOME DAYS. ALSO WHEN I'M DRIVING IN AUTOMATIC, THE CAR WILL SUDDENLY GO INTO MANUAL FIRST GEAR AND I WILL HAVE TO SHIFT OVER TO MANUAL AND BACK TO AUTO TO PUT IT IN DRIVE. I HAD A RECALL FOR SHIFT LEVER PROBLEMS BEFORE BUT I THINK THERE IS MORE TO THE PROBLEM THEN WHAT THEY ARE FIXING. THIS CAR SEEMS TO HAVE MANY ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS. MY HVAC ALSO HAS QUIT WORKING WHILE DRIVING AND HAD TO SHUT THE CAR DOWN BEFORE IT WOULD WORK AGAIN.
I HAVE A 2011 HYUNDAI SONATA WITH APPROXIMATELY 65,000 MILES. IN 2015 THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED TWICE WHILE ON BUT PARKED. THE ESC AND POWER STEERING INDICATORS WERE ON. AFTER A WHILE THE ISSUES SPONTANEOUSLY RESOLVED IN THESE INSTANCES AND THE VEHICLE ABLE TO BE DRIVEN. IN OCTOBER 2015 THE POWER STEERING LOCKED UP WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE ON A CITY STREET (SPEED <40MPH). I WAS UNABLE TO TURN THE STEERING WHEEL AND NAVIGATE RESULTING IN SEVERAL NEAR MISSES WITH STREET PARKED VEHICLES BEFORE BEING ABLE TO STOP THE VEHICLE. CAR TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE THEY STATED THAT THEY DROVE THE VEHICLE AROUND AND "RECALIBRATED IT." TWO MONTHS LATER WHILE AGAIN TRAVELING ON CITY STREETS (<40MPH) THE STEERING WHEEL BEGAN TO SHAKE VIOLENTLY AND I WAS UNABLE TO STEER, AGAIN ALMOST RESULTING IN A SIGNIFICANT CRASH. DURING THIS INCIDENT THE SAME ECS AND POWER STEERING INDICATORS LIT UP. UNABLE TO STEER I WAS FORCED TO STOP AND TURN OFF MY VEHICLE IN THE MIDDLE OF A BUSY ROAD. HOWEVER, ONCE THE VEHICLE WAS TURNED OFF THE STEERING WHEEL CONTINUED TO SHAKE VIOLENTLY UNTIL SOMEONE WHO CAME TO ASSIST ME SHUT OFF THE CAR BATTERY. THE CAR WAS TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE UPON SHOWING THEM VIDEO THE SERVICE MANAGER STATED HE HAD NEVER SEEN THIS OCCUR IN HIS 20 YEARS OF EMPLOYMENT. THE CAR IS SCHEDULED TO BE ASSESSED ON MONDAY. INTERNET SEARCHES SHOW OTHER VIDEOS OF THIS MAKE/MODEL WITH THE SAME VIOLENTLY SHAKING WHEEL AND REPORTS OF ACCIDENT CLOSE-CALLS. MY SPECIFIC CAR WAS PART OF AN EARLIER RECALL (CAMPAIGN 097) RELATED TO POWER STEERING THAT WAS REPORTEDLY FIXED AT THAT TIME, THEREFORE THIS CAR CLEARLY HAS KNOWN PROBLEMS IN THIS DOMAIN. I WILL NEVER GET BACK IN THIS VEHICLE AND WILL LIKELY LOSE MONEY ON A TRADE IN. THERE ARE CLEARLY SIGNIFICANT SAFETY ISSUES WITH THIS VEHICLE THAT HAVE NOT BEEN RESOLVED BY THE EARLIER RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE BRAKE LINING NEEDED TO REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE CONTINUED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER WHERE THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS ALSO SERVICED UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V568000 (ENGINE). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 139,000.

ENGINE MAKING A PINGING & TAPPING SOUND UPON ACCELERATION & A REGULAR BURNT OIL ODOR ENGULFING THE INTERIOR CABIN OF VEHICLE WHILE IN MOTION. IT IS BURNING EXCESSIVE OIL BETWEEN 3,000 MILE OIL CHANGES.

STEERING COLUMN COUPLER- POTENTIAL TO LOSE STEERING -I HEARD A CLICKING SOUND WHEN THE STEERING WHEEL WAS TURNING DURING NORMAL STEERING OF THE VEHICLE. AT TIMES, THE STEERING GOT LOOSE AND "FLYAWAY". BECAUSE OF THIS, THE STEERING COLUMN NEEDED REPAIR AT A COST OF $325. THIS PROBLEM IS WELL KNOWN. THE SERVICE ADVISOR AT HYUNDAI COMMENTED THAT HE WAS SURPRISED THIS IS NOT A RECALL. MY NEIGHBOR HAS A HYUNDAI AND HE WAS FORCED TO GET THE SAME REPAIR. NUMEROUS POSTS EXIST ON HYUNDAI FORUMS ABOUT THIS PROBLEM. I CONTACTED HYUNDAI AND THEY ADVISED THERE IS NO RECALL CAMPAIGN AT THE PRESENT, BUT IF ONE COMES ABOUT, THE MONEY I SPENT FOR THE REPAIR WILL BE REFUNDED. THIS IS A SERIOUS SITUATION AND I AM BESIDES MYSELF THAT A RECALL DOESN'T EXIST FOR THIS. THANK YOU. *TR
THERE IS A RECALL ON MY VEHICLE ENGINE. I TOOK MY CAR TO THE DEALER AND THEY INSPECTED THE ENGINE FOR THE DEFECTIVE PART (ENGINE). THEY SAID THE CAR DOESN'T MET THE REQUIREMENT FOR FIX OR REPLACEMENT. HOWEVER, THEY INCREASED THE OIL AMOUNT FROM 4.5 QUARTS TO 5.5 AND CHANGE THE OIL DIP STICK WITHOUT EXPLANATION WHEN I ASKED WHY. I BELIEVE THEY ARE ATTEMPTING TO COVER UP THE PROBLEM WITH TEMPORARY FIX. CAN YOU INVESTIGATE IN TO THIS MATTER PLEASE. I CALL THEM SEVERAL TIMES ABOUT THE SITUATION WITH THE DEALERSHIP AND THE CHANGES MADE WITHOUT EXPLANATION. AFTER SEVERAL WEEKS OF WAITING FOR THEM TO RESPOND I CALL THEM AND THE COSTUMER SERVICE PERSON ON THE PHONE GAVE ME AN EXPLANATION, AGAIN NOT RESPONDED TO MY QUESTION DIRECTLY BUT BY SOMEONE WHO ONLY ANSWER THE PHONE. PLEASE HELP OR ADVISE!
THE STEERING WHEEL ALL OF A SUDDEN FELT LOOSE ONE WHILE I WAS DRIVING AND THEN IT STARTED MAKING A RATTLING NOISE AND IT CAN BE HEARD WHEN I TURN THE WHEEL, GO OVER A BUMPS OR IF I DRIVE FASTER THEN 60 MILES PER HOUR IT GETS REALLY LOUD WITH A CONSTANT RATTLING NOISE, MY CAR ONLY HAS 72000-73000 MILES ON IT
AIRBAG LIGHT ON INSTRUMENT CLUSTER CAME ON DURING VEHICLE STARTUP, WHILE STATIONARY, DURING ITS BUILT-IN TEST. MILEAGE ON VEHICLE WAS APPROXIMATELY 96,000 MILES. TOOK TO DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS. RESULT WAS, "...NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY, BUT WE CAN FIX IT FOR $1,000". RESEARCH INDICATES THIS IS A SYSTEMIC PROBLEM FOR THIS VEHICLE.
THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE BRAKE SWITCH FOR 2011 SONATAS. COINCIDENTALLY, I AM HAVING THE ISSUE ON MY CAR. ALTHOUGH I HAVE TO PAY $200 OUT OF POCKET FOR THIS, I SHOULD BE REIMBURSED AS THIS IS NOT COINCIDENTAL AND IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN RECALLED ON MY VEHICLE. NOW THE ENGINE IS BEING RECALLED. THIS VEHICLE IS TERRIBLE AND UNSAFE!

I HAVE A HYUNDAI SONATA 2011 WITH ~ 70,000 MILES ON IT. FOR MORE THAN A YEAR, I STARTED HEARING OBNOXIOUS NOISE COMING FROM THE STEERING WHEEL WHEN I DRIVE ON ROUGH ROADS OR TAKE AN EXIT ON A FREEWAY. THE STEERING WHEEL WILL START VIBRATING AND BECOMING HARDER TO CONTROL. I VOICED THE CONCERN TO TWO HYUNDAI DEALERS (ONE IN MI AND ANOTHER IN CA) AND TOLD THEM I WAS WORRIED ABOUT MY SAFETY AND THAT RIDING IN THE CAR, BUT NOTHING WAS BROUGHT UP ABOUT STEERING COUPLING, WHICH AS YOU WILL SEE TURNED OUT TO BE THE PROBLEM. THE PROBLEM CONTINUED WORSENING, UNTIL MOST RECENTLY I COULD HEAR OBNOXIOUS KNOCKING NOISE BY TURNING THE STEERING WHEEL LEFT AND RIGHT, AND ON THE FREEWAY AND ROUGH ROADS, THE STEERING WHEEL WOULD VIBRATE AND SHAKE, AND I COULD FEEL "LOOSENESS' WHEN BYPASSING CARS AND EXITING FREEWAY. WORRIED ABOUT MY SAFETY, I TOOK MY CAR TO A DEALER AND ASKED IT TO BE FIXED. FOR THE FIRST TIME, A HYUNDAI DEALER RECOGNIZED THE PROBLEM TO BE THE COUPLING. THEY FIXED THE CAR WITH $320, MOSTLY LABOR WITH THE PART IS LESS THAN $50 DOLLAR (MOST OTHER HYUNDAI DEALERS DIDN'T WANT TO DO IT FOR LESS THAN $380). THE CAR HAS BEEN FIXED, AND AS OF TWO DAYS AFTER THE VISIT TO THE DEALER, I NO LONGER HEAR NOISE, AND THE CAR FEELS MUCH SAFER TO DRIVE. THIS IS A HYUNDAI PROBLEM AND IT IS DANGEROUS TO THE SAFETY OF PEOPLE IN THE CAR AND ON THE ROAD. MY DEALER TOLD ME TO KEEP THE RECEIPT IN CASE A RECALL IS ISSUED. SEEING WHAT TURN MY CAR TOOK AS A RESULT OF THIS PROBLEM, I STRONGLY BELIEVE A RECALL IS URGENT. I HOPE NHTSA IS LISTENING, FOR THE MANUFACTURER IS NOT.

I HAVE REPLACED ALL MY EXTERNAL LIGHTS BULBS TWO TIMES SINCE I'VE HAD THE CAR, WITH THE LAST TIME ABOUT 6 MONTHS AGO. I KEEP ON HAVING INTERMITTENT EXTERNAL LIGHTS GO OUT, THEN COME BACK ON. IN GENERAL, WHEN THEY TEMPORARILY GO OFF ITS JUST THE BEGINNING OF THE END. THEY TEND TO PERMANENTLY BURN OUT. I ALWAYS HAVE REPLACED ALL LIGHT BULBS WHEN THE FIRST ONE GOES OUT, BECAUSE THE REST USUALLY START GOING OUT. I HAVE TWICE REPLACED ALL THE BULBS AT THE SAME TIME, BUT KEEPING HAVING ISSUES. ALSO, MY REAR DRIVERS SIDE LIGHT ASSEMBLY WAS HANGING OFF THE CAR BY THE WIRE HARNESS. SOMEHOW THE PLASTIC PART BROKE THAT KEEPS IT ATTACHED TO THE FRAME OF THE CAR.
THERE IS A LOAD RATTLE NOISE FROM THE STEERING COLUMN AT ANY SPEED WHILE DRIVING OVER ROUGH ROADS OR TURNING THE STEERING WHEEL RIGHT AND LEFT. I TOOK IT TO MY REGULAR MAINTENANCE FACILITY TO HAVE THEM SEE WHAT HE PROBLEM WAS. THEY INFORMED ME THAT HYUNDAI HAS A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN WHICH VERIFIES THE ISSUE. THIS BULLETIN DESCRIBES THE PROCEDURE TO REPLACE THE WORM SHAFT FLEXIBLE COUPLING IN THE MOTOR DRIVEN POWER STEERING (MDPS) STEERING COLUMN TO ADDRESS THIS CONDITION. HYUNDAI INSTALLED FAULTY OIL FEED PIPE TO THE TURBO IN HYUNDAI SONATA 2011 2.0T, THE PIPE LEAKS AND RESULTS IN LOW OIL IN THE ENGINE, WHICH CAUSES ENGINE FAILURE. I SAW THE OIL LEAKS ON THE PARKING SPOT. TOOK IT TO THE MECHANIC AND THE PIPE WAS AT FAULT, MY ENGINE OIL WAS AT CRITICAL LEVEL, PROVIDED THAT I HAD IT CHANGED ABOUT 1000 MILES.

I EXPLAINED THIS TO THE SERVICE REP AND WAS TOLD SINCE WE JUST TOOK OVER A MONTH AGO THEY CAN ONLY ADDRESS WHAT THEY DIAGNOSED! MY CAR WAS BOUGHT BRAND NEW HAS 46953 MILES, I WAS 6MONTHS 9 DAYS OUT OF TIME WARRANTY. TOTALLY RIDICULOUS AND ON TOP OF IT I STILL HAVE THE CLICKING NOISE!

UPON COMING TO THE NEXT INTERSECTION, THE LIGHT TURNED RED SO I CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP. AS I DID, I LOOKED ACROSS THE DASHBOARD AND NOTICED SUDDENLY EVERY POSSIBLE INDICATION SIGNAL WAS LIT. AS THE LIGHT TURNED GREEN I ATTEMPTED TO USE THE GAS PEDAL TO START DRIVING FORWARD ONLY TO FIND THAT THE GAS PEDAL HAD SUDDENLY GONE STIFF AND IT WAS CLEAR THAT THE ENGINE WAS OFF. I WAS FORCED TO PUT THE CAR INTO PARK, RETURN THE KEY TO ITS STARTING POSITION AND RESTART THE CAR ENTIRELY. I THEN CONTINUED ON MY WAY BUT VERY CAUTIOUSLY LEERY AFTER THIS EPISODE. I CONTINUED ON FOR ANOTHER COUPLE OF MILES AND AS I SAW TRAFFIC AHEAD OF ME I BEGAN TO SLOWLY ENGAGE THE PARKING BREAK TO START DECELERATING SLOWLY AND ALL OF A SUDDEN THE ENGINE STALLED AND CUT OFF AGAIN, THIS TIME WHILE THE CAR WAS STILL TRAVELING! I DESPERATELY USED ALL OF MY STRENGTH TO PRESS ON THE AGAIN STIFF BREAK PEDAL WHILE FINALLY THINKING TO USE MY OTHER FOOT TO ATTEMPT TO ENGAGE THE EMERGENCY BREAK AS THE CAR WAS STILL IN MOTION AND CARS WERE COMING TO A COMPLETE STOP JUST AHEAD OF ME! HYUNDAI HAS STATED RECENTLY THAT THERE IS A KNOWN RECALL INVOLVING SIMILAR MALFUNCTIONS BUT TELLS ME THAT IT IS NOT "FINALIZED" AND THE "VEHICLE IS COMPLETELY DRIVABLE WHILE THEY WORK ON THIS" AND I WAS ADVISED I WOULD HAVE TO PAY OUT OF POCKET TO EVEN HAVE THE INSPECTION DONE AT THIS TIME.
FIRST THIS IS APART OF THE CAMPAIGN 133 RECALL. A REMEDY IS NOT AVAILABLE YET I AM NOT WILLING TO PAY TO CORRECT A DESIGN FLAW. REGARDING THE RECOIL SPRING ISSUE. SECOND SEPARATE ISSUE ALL FOUR OXYGEN SENSORS WENT BAD AT THE SAME TIME HOW IS THAT POSSIBLE.
I HAD THE SAME PROBLEM RECENTLY, MY TAIL LIGHT ASSEMBLY MELTED AROUND THE CONNECTOR FOR THE BRAKE LIGHT BULB ON THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE. THE CONNECTOR AND BULB GOT SO HOT THAT SURROUNDING PLASTIC AND CONNECTOR PLASTIC MELTED, CAUSING THE BRAKE LIGHT TO FAIL AND MAKING REPLACEMENT COST AROUND $650. THE PROBLEM ALSO CAUSED A FUSE TO SHORT OUT AND THE BRAKE SENSOR UNDER THE PADDLE FAILED (WHICH IS ALREADY AN ONGOING ISSUE CURRENTLY BEING RECALLED FOR SONATA'S ) AND THE CAR WOULD NOT START. HYUNDAI DEALER CLAIM REPLACEMENT BULBS WERE PUT IN WRONG WHEN CHANGED OUT WHICH CAUSED THE PROBLEM, BUT I FIND THAT HARD TO BELIEVE. I DECIDED TO DO A LITTLE RESEARCH AND FOUND HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS FOR THE SAME EXACT PROBLEM. I AGREE THIS SHOULD BE RECALLED BY NHTSA. THIS IS DEFINITELY A MANUFACTURING DEFECT THAT IS CAUSING A SAFETY HAZARD FOR 2011 HYUNDAI DRIVERS AND OTHER DRIVERS THAT ENCOUNTER CARS WITH THE FAILING BRAKE LIGHT ASSEMBLY.
