UPON REACHING THE 70 MPH SPEED LIMIT THE VEHICLE'S STEERING BEGAN TO VIBRATE WHEN TURNING TO THE RIGHT. RECENTLY HAD NEW TIRES AND WHEEL ALIGNMENT DONE SO THAT PROBLEM IT IS NOT .IT APPEARS AS THOUGH IT IS GETTING WORSE AS THE STEERING NOW MAKES A CLUNKING NOISE WHETHER MOVING OR NOT. ALSO THERE APPEARS TO BE MANY ISSUES WITH THIS AND HYUNDAI HAS ISSUED A SAFETY ALERT, BUT NO RECALL. THIS INCIDENT WILL ULTIMATELY RESULT IN INJURIES AND POSSIBLY FATALITIES IF NOT ADDRESSED. HOPEFULLY THE NHTSA WILL FORCE DEALERS TO REPLACE THESE FAULTY PARTS BEFORE THAT HAPPENS. *JS
ABOUT A YEAR AGO, MY AIRBAG LIGHT LIT UP ON MY DASHBOARD. IT STAYED ON EVERY TIME I HAD MY CAR ON. HYUNDAI FIXED IT FOR ME. THEY SAID THAT THEY REPLACED THE CLOCK SPRING ASSIST, RESET THE CODES AND IT WAS FIXED. NOW THE LIGHT IS BACK ON AGAIN. ITS NOT EVEN A YEAR LATER.
MY HUSBAND WAS DRIVING HOME FROM WORK AND THE ENGINE STARTED MAKING A HORRIBLE KNOCKING NOISE. THIS WAS ON A FRIDAY. WE HAD THE CAR TOWED TO OUR MECHANIC THE FOLLOWING MONDAY AND HE TOLD US THE WHOLE BOTTOM END OF THE ENGINE HAD FAILED. HYUNDAI WOULDN'T HONOR OUR WARRANTY BECAUSE WE DIDN'T HAVE ALL OF OUR MAINTANENCE RECORDS FOR THE CAR. WE ENDED UP PAYING FOR THE ENGINE TO BE REPLACED OUT OF OUR POCKET. WHEN HYUNDIA SENT OUR MECHANIC THE NEW ENGINE IT WAS THE WRONG ONE. MY MECHANIC SPEND THE NEXT 3 WEEKS ARGUING WITH THEM OVER HIS FACT. FINALLY AFTER 6 WEEKS, HYUNDIA AGREED TO SOURCE A SECOND NEW ENGINE AND INSTALL IT THEMSELVES. EVEN WITH THIS DECISION, THEY STILL WOULDN'T COVER IT UNDER OUR WARRANTY. THEY TOOK AN ADDITIONAL 4 WEEKS TO INSTALL THE ENGINE. WE PAID FOR A RENTAL CAR OUT OF POCKET WHILE THIS WAS BEING TAKEN CARE OF. SO ULTIMATELY, THIS COST US CLOSE TO $6000 OUT OF POCKET WHEN IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN COVERED UNDER OUR WARRANTY. I WILL NEVER PURCHASE ANOTHER HYUNDAI, NOR WILL I RECOMMEND THEIR PRODUCTS TO MY FAMILIY AND FRIENDS OR ANYONE ELSE I COME IN CONTACT WITH. THIS HAS BEEN AN HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 90,400. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.

2011 HYUNDAI SONATA DEFECT IN THE LIGHT STEM SWITCH THAT CAUSES HEADLIGHTS AND DASH LIGHTS TO FLICKER *CN THE CONSUMER STATED HE BEGAN TO EXPERIENCE OCCASIONAL EPISODES OF FLICKERING HEADLIGHTS, ESPECIALLY WHEN SWITCHING BETWEEN HIGH AND LOW BEAM. *JB
I AM USING THE SAME KEY THAT I HAVE USED SINCE THE CAR WAS FIRST PURCHASED NEW. SEVERAL TIMES PER WEEK, WHEN I STOP THE CAR AND SHIFT IT INTO PARK, I AM UNABLE TO REMOVE THE KEY FROM THE IGNITION. THE STEERING WHEEL IS NOT LOCKED, THE CAR WILL START FINE, AND THE CAR WILL RUN FINE---I AM JUST UNABLE TO REMOVE THE KEY FROM THE IGNITION WHEN THE VEHICLE IS TURNED OFF AN IN PARK. *TR
CLICKING SOUND FROM THE STEERING WHEEL. WILL HAPPEN AT REST OR MOTION. PROGRESSIVELY GOT WORSE. ALSO PRODUCED A THUD SOUND ON BUMPS ON INTERSTATE. DEALER INDICATES THE STEERING COUPLER HAD FAILED. I TOLD THEM I SEEN MANY OTHER PEOPLE WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. WHY WAS IT NOT COVERED BY MANUFACTURER WITH IT BEING SO WIDESPREAD ISSUE? COST ME $394.48 FOR DEALER TO REPLACE INCLUDING THE RECOMMEND ALIGNMENT.

THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE ENGINE ROD HAD BLOWN AND, AS A RESULT, THE ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT RECENTLY RECEIVED A NOTIFICATION FOR NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V568000 (ENGINE). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
I RECENTLY PURCHASED A 2011 HYUNDAI SONATA GLS ON 12-26-14 WITH 97,300 MILES. THE CAR ONLY CAME WITH ONE KEY SO I DECIDED TO GET ANOTHER KEY FROM LOCAL HYUNDAI DEALERSHIP. WHILE THERE I DECIDED TO CHECK ON ANY RECALLS THE CAR MAY OF HAD AND NOT YET DONE. THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT PULLED UP 4 TOTAL RECALLS WHICH HASN'T BEEN TAKEN CARE OF YET. I TOLD THEM ABOUT A CLUNKING FEEL IN THE STEERING WHEEL WHEN I TURNED IT TO THE LEFT OR RIGHT. THEY SAID IT WAS THE FLEXIBLE COUPLING........A ROUND THICK RUBBER PART THAT LOOKS LIKE A GEAR. RUBBER.....REALLY......IN THE STEERING GEAR SYSTEM?????? THE TECHNICIAN SAID THIS PART IS A SAFETY HAZARD AND WEARS OUT ON A REGULAR BASIS TO THE POINT YOU COULD LOOSE TOTAL CONTROL OF STEERING. COME TO FIND OUT THAT PART WAS REPLACED AROUND 26,000 MILES. THEY SAID IT WASN'T A RECALL ITEM AND THE REPLACED PART WAS ONLY WARRANTIED 12 MONTHS/12,000 MILES. THEY ALSO INFORMED ME IT WAS A SAFETY ISSUE AND I SHOULD GET IT REPLACED ASAP! THE TOTAL COST IS $250.......$8 FOR PART AND THE REST IS LABOR. NOT A BIG SURPRISE.......LABOR'S ALWAYS MORE EXPENSIVE THAN THE PART! I DIDN'T DO A LOT OF RESEARCH ON THE CAR BEFORE I BOUGHT IT. SHAME ON ME!!!! WITHIN AN HOUR ON THE INTERNET I LEARNED A GREAT DEAL ON THE UNBELIEVABLE NUMBER OF PEOPLE WHO ARE HAVING THIS PROBLEM. I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY HYUNDAI HASN'T RECALLED THE FLEXIBLE COUPLING? I'M GOING TO DIG A LITTLE DEEPER TO SEE HOW MANY ACCIDENTS/DEATHS ARE ASSOCIATED WITH THIS PARTICULAR PART. I'D LOVE TO KNOW IF THERE'S A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT AGAINST HYUNDAI ON THIS PART? HYUNDAI YOU ARE PUTTING A TREMENDOUS AMOUNT OF PEOPLES LIVES IN RISK OF INJURY OR DEATH BECAUSE YOU WILL NOT RECALL A PART WHICH IS LESS THAN $10!!!!! THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO RICK CASE HYUNDAI (3180 SATELLITE BOULEVARD NW, DULUTH, GA 30096, (678) 321-1584) FOR AN UNKNOWN ELECTRICAL SYSTEM RECALL. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE RECALL REPAIR WAS PERFORMED, BUT IT FAILED TO PROVIDE A PERMANENT SOLUTION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER ON FOUR OCCASIONS TO HAVE THE STARTER REPLACED. THE DEALER INDICATED THAT THE STARTER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED A FIFTH TIME. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN A RECALL AND SUGGESTED THAT THE VEHICLE BE REPAIRED BY THE DEALER AGAIN. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 25,000.
STEERING MAKES A CLICKING OR KNOCKING SOUND WHEN TURNING LEFT OR RIGHT. CALLED DEALERSHIP ABOUT STEERING RECALLS. THEY CLAIMED ONE HAD ALREADY BEEN PERFORMED AND THIS SOUNDED LIKE A COUPLING PROBLEM. I HAVE READ OTHER SIMILAR COMPLAINTS. PART IS LESS THAN 2 DOLLARS...LABOR IS OVER 200 DOLLARS. I BELIEVE A RECALL SHOULD BE ISSUED IF OTHERS ARE COMPLAINING ABOUT THE SAME THING. *TR
THE STEERING OF MY 2011 HYUNDAI SONATA GLS MAKES CLICKING NOISE WHEN TURNING THE WHEEL LEFT OR RIGHT IN PARKED. ALSO WHEN I DRIVE ON A BAD/UNEVEN ROAD, THERE IS NOISE FORM THE STEERING COLUMN AS IF SOMETHING INSIDE IS LOOSE. I FEAR THAT IT MAY A SAFETY ISSUE. OIL LIGHT BLINKED ON AND OFF TWICE. CAR WAS MAKING A KNOCKING NOISE. STOPPED TO CHECK OIL; ABSOLUTELY NO OIL IN THE VEHICLE. NO SIGN OF LEAK; NO SMOKING; NO OTHER INDICATION OF PROBLEM. PUT 3 QUARTS OF OIL IN THE CAR. KNOCKING SOUND WAS WORSE. DROVE CAR HOME AND HAVEN'T DRIVEN IT SINCE. THIS IS ONE OF MANY PROBLEMS I'VE HAD WITH THIS CAR. I GET REGULAR OIL CHANGES. I HAVEN'T HAD THE CAR LOOKED AT YET DUE TO COST AND OUT OF WARRANTY. I'VE READ OTHER COMPLAINTS OF LOSS OF OIL RESULTING IN COMPLETE ENGINE FAILURE. THERE WAS ABSOLUTELY NO INDICATION THAT THE OIL WAS EVEN LOW WHICH I ATTRIBUTE TO THE FAULTY ELECTRICAL SYSTEM SINCE I'VE HAD PROBLEMS WITH THAT AS WELL. IT'S MY OPINION THAT THIS CAR IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE. I'VE READ THIS YEAR MODEL HAS OVER 900 PROBLEMS WHILE OTHER YEAR MODELS HAVE AVERAGE OF 230 SOMETHING PROBLEMS. OBVIOUSLY, THIS CAR SHOULD BE COMPLETELY RECALLED AND REPLACED BY HYUNDAI DEALER. *JS

THE CONTACT SUSTAINED NECK, BACK AND SHOULDER INJURIES THAT REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FUEL PUMP MODULE HAS HIGH RESISTANCE AT THE CONNECTOR AND BURNED A HOLE THROUGH IT. *THE CONNECTOR BURNED* THAT SHOULD NOT HAVE HAPPENED, THIS COULD HAVE CAUSED AN EXPLOSION OR A FIRE TO START...THIS IS NOT NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR AND IS A SAFETY HAZARD....THE PART WAS MANUFACTURED WRONG AND SHOULD NOT HAVE WORN OUT. WE ARE THANKFUL THAT WE ARE STILL ALIVE. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHO STATED THAT THE STEERING COUPLER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 75,000.
I AM A LOYAL HYUNDAI CUSTOMER WHO HAS OWNED 4 OF THEIR VEHICLES. I TOOK MY CAR IN TO SUPERIOR HYUNDAI NORTH TO HAVE A COUPLE SAFETY RECALL ITEMS TAKEN CARE OF. I ALSO WOULD HEAR A WIND TYPE SOUND SOMETIMES (WITHIN A WEEK PRIOR TO TAKING IT IN) WHEN I WOULD START DRIVING FROM A STOPPED POSITION. WHEN I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP SERVICE DEPT. THEY TOLD ME THEY HAD BAD NEWS. MY ENGINE HAD TO BE REPLACED. THEY SAID THERE WAS NO OIL IN IT. I ASKED THEM HOW IT COULD BE EMPTY AS MY CAR HAS NEVER LEAKED, NEVER SMOKED, NEVER SMELLED LIKE OIL BURNING, HAD ONLY APPROX. 48,000 MILES ON IT, AND HAD BEEN SERVICED. THEY HAD TO TAKE SOME OF THE ENGINE APART AND SAID SINCE THEY FOUND NO SLUDGE IN THE ENGINE, IT WAS COVERED UNDER THE WARRANTY. PROBLEM I HAVE IS THEY ARE REPLACING MY ENGINE WITH A REBUILT ONE. THEY SAID HYUNDAI WON'T APPROVE THEM TO PUT A NEW ENGINE IN IT. I HAVE NO WAY OF FINDING OUT WHAT HAPPENED TO THE REBUILT ENGINE THEY ARE PUTTING IN MY CAR AND THEY CAN'T TELL ME HOW MANY MILES WAS ON IT ORIGINALLY. THEY TOLD ME THERE WAS ONE MORE CAR LIKE MINE THERE WITH THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM. THEY ALSO TRIED TO TELL ME IT WOULDN'T HURT MY TRADE-IN VALUE. THAT I DIDN'T HAVE TO DISCLOSE THE ENGINE REPLACEMENT. ONE, THAT'S NOT A MORAL AND DECEITFUL PROBLEM THAT I WOULD NEVER DO AND TWO, I BELIEVE IT'S THE LAW THAT I WOULD HAVE TO DISCLOSE IT. I SPOKE TO ONE OF THE SALESMEN ABOUT BUYING THE LOANER CAR I'M DRIVING WITH THE TRADE OF MY CAR AND THE FIRST THING HE TOLD ME WAS THE PROBLEM WITH MY ENGINE WOULD CAUSE THE TRADE-IN VALUE TO BE LESS. HMMM...JUST AS I THOUGHT!! THEY NEED TO EITHER PUT A NEW ENGINE IN MY CAR OR GIVE ME THE TOP VALUE OF MY CAR WITH A GOOD DISCOUNT AND PRICE ON A NEW ONE OR THEY WILL LOSE A VERY LOYAL CUSTOMER! *TR
TELL US WHAT HAPPENED: BOUGHT VEHICLE NEW AND REGULARLY HAD SERVICED BY DEALER. VEHICLE DIED WITHOUT ANY WARNING COMING OFF HIGHWAY AND I HAD TO TURN FLASHERS ON AND PLACE IN PARK TO RESTART. ENGINE STARTED KNOCKING WITH NO WARNING AND NO WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED. HAD TOWED TO DEALER AND WAS TOLD ENGINE HAD NO OIL AND REQUIRES AN ENGINE CHANGE. WHERE DID IT GO? THERE HAS NEVER BEEN ANY SIGNS OF SMOKE, BURNING SMELL OR LEAKS ANYWHERE AND NO WARNING LIGHTS EVER GIVING INDICATION OF A LOW OIL OR LOW OIL PRESSURE INDICATION NOR ANY OTHER ENGINE LIGHT WARNING. NOW DEALER SAYS WE HAVE TO CONVINCE REGIONAL MANAGER THAT THIS WAS NOT NEGLECT ON OUR PART TO HAVE COVERED UNDER THE 100,000 MILE POWER-TRAIN WARRANTY. *TR
THIS VEHICLE HAS A MANUFACTURED DEFECT AND HAS BEEN REJECTED BY A STATE CERTIFIED STATE INSPECTOR. IT WAS FAILED DUE TO THE AIR BAG LIGHT CONTINUED TO SHOW ON THE DASH BOARD. THE STATE INSPECTOR INDICATED THAT THIS VEHICLE WOULD NOT PASS INSPECTION UNTIL THE AIR BAG SITUATION HAS BEEN RESOLVED. I AM NOT CONCERNED IF OTHER HYUNDAI VEHICLES ARE RECALLED OR NOT. MY PRIMARY CONCERN AT THIS PRESENT TIME IS MY 2011 HYUNDAI SONATA LIMITED IS TAKEN CARE OF IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE REQUIREMENTS OF THE NATIONAL TRAFFIC AND MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY ACT. I NOTICE SOME PLAY AND A KNOCKING NOISE IN THE STEERING WHEEL, ALONG WITH A KNOCKING /RATTLING SOUNDS IN THE STEERING COLUMN AREA WHEN DRIVING . THIS HAS GOTTEN WORSE, A REPAIR SHOP INFORMED ME THAT HYUNDAI HAD A RECALL ON THIS ISSUE. I CHECKED FOR RECALLS WITH VIN AND NONE WERE FOUND.. FROM RESEARCHING ON LINE THIS SEEMS TO BE MORE WIDE SPREAD PROBLEM THEN HYUNDAI IS LEADING TO BELIEVE. AND NO ONE SAYS HOW DANGEROUS THIS MAY BE, IF LOST OF COMPLETE STEERING IS POSSIBLE
WHILE DRIVING THE CAR ON INTERSTATE 95 , THE CAR ABRUPTLY STALLED OUT DOING 60 MPG , THE FLASHERS WOULD NOT WORK. I SHIFTED IT IN NEUTRAL AND IT STARTED AFTER TWO ATTEMPTS. WE PROCEEDED TO GET OFF THE INTERSTATE ONTO ANOTHER FOUR LANE HIGHWAY. ABOUT A HALF A MILE DOWN THE ROAD, IT STALLED AGAIN. AFTER TWO MORE ATTEMPTS TO RESTART THE ENGINE, IT DID RESTART AND EVERYTHING SEEMED FINE. THREE MORE MILES DOWN THE ROAD, THE CAR STALLED OUT AGAIN AND THEN STARTED SMOKING. WE COULD NOT RESTART THE CAR AND THE FLASHERS INITIALLY WOULD NOT WORK AGAIN. AFTER TEN SECONDS, THE FLASHERS STARTED TO WORK AND THEN WE PROCEEDED TO PUSH THE CAR ACROSS THE HIGHWAY INTO A 7-11. THE ENGINE HAD SEIZED UP. THE CAR HAD TO BE TOWED TO THE HYUNDAI DEALER. AFTER CALLING THE DEALER THE NEXT DAY, I FOUND OUT THAT FOUR CARS WITH THE SAME PROBLEM WERE WAITING TO BE REPAIRED. THE DEALER IS NOW PUTTING A NEW ENGINE IN THE CAR SINCE IT IS STILL UNDER WARRANTY. THE PROBLEM IS THEY ARE PUTTING A NEW ENGINE IN THE CAR WITH THE SAME EXACT PROBLEM. THEY HAVE NOT FIXED THE INITIAL PROBLEM. I AM AFRAID THIS SAME EXACT INCIDENT WILL HAPPEN AGAIN AND I WILL NOT BE AS LUCKY. THEY ARE PUTTING MY LIFE AND MY FAMILIES' LIFE IN JEOPARDY. I WANT THEM TO BUY BACK THE CAR, THIS SHOULD NOT HAPPEN WITH ONLY 25,000 MILES ON THE CAR AND AN UP-TO-DATE CAR SERVICE RECORD. *TR

IN THE SPAN 2 MONTHS, THERE WERE 2 OCCASIONS WHERE MY CAR WOULD NOT START. I THOUGHT IT WAS THE BATTERY AND HAD SOMEONE JUMP ME AND IT STILL WOULDN'T START. HOWEVER, AFTER TRYING SEVERAL TIMES, CAR WOULD FINALLY START. ONE OTHER TIME I PULLED INTO A STORE AND WHEN I CAME OUT, MY CAR WOULDN'T START. AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS, IT FINALLY STARTED. THEN ON NOVEMBER 28TH, 2014, MY BOYFRIEND WAS DRIVING MY CAR AND IT JUST STOPPED RUNNING. I HAD IT TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC AND THEY STATED THAT THE ENGINE HAD SEIZED. I DID NOT HAVE ANY WARNING OR INDICATION THAT ANYTHING WAS WRONG. TODAY I HAVE TO HAVE IT TOWED TO THE HYUNDAI DEALERSHIP AND THEY WILL LET ME KNOW THE EXACT PROBLEM AND IF IT IS COVERED UNDER THE WARRANTY. *JS
WHEN I TURN THE STEERING WHEEL ALL THE WAY IN (I.E. WHEN PARALLEL PARKING), THE POWER STEERING GOES OUT. THE EPS LIGHT COMES ON IN THE DASHBOARD AND THE STEERING WHEEL JUMPS ALL THE WAY BACK TO THE CENTER POSITION. STEERING IS COMPLETELY GONE. WHEN I THEN TURN OFF THE IGNITION AND TURN IT BACK ON, THE STEERING IS WORKING PROPERLY AGAIN. *TR

WHILE DRIVING HOME THE CAR JUST STOPPED AND SHUT OFF. BEFORE SHUTTING OFF IT WAS LIKE THE CAR LOST ALL POWER. WHAT I MEAN IS THAT THE EVEN THOUGH THE GAS PEDAL WAS PRESSED THE CAR WOULD NOT MOVE. I HAD TO LEAVE MY CAR ON SIDE OF A VERY DARK AND DANGEROUS ROAD. THE NEXT DAY I WENT TO RETRIEVE MY CAR. I SAW OIL SPOTS ON THE GROUND WHERE I HAD PULLED OFF THE ROAD AND UNDER THE HOOD. AGAIN, MY CAR WOULD NOT START, SO I HAD TO TOW IT HOME. I CALLED TUSCALOOSA HYUNDAI AND THEY TOLD ME THAT SINCE MY CAR WAS PAST THE MILEAGE WARRANTY THAT THE COST WOULD BE ON ME AND THAT I WOULD NEED A NEW MOTOR. I INFORMED THE MECHANIC ABOUT THE COMPLAINTS ON THE 2011 MODEL AND I WAS HAVING THE SAME ISSUES BEFORE MY CAR STOPPED. JOHN TOLD ME THAT, I JUST CANT BELIEVE EVERYTHING THAT I READ. I'M VERY UNSATISFIED WITH HIS COMMENT. HE TOLD ME THAT I WOULD JUST NEED A NEW ENGINE. I CAN NOT AFFORD THIS. I KNOW THAT I HAVE TAKEN CARE OF MY CAR AND FOR HYUNDAI TO SAT THIS IS MY FAULT IS GARBAGE. THEY KNOW THAT THEY HAVE MESSED UP AND ARE REFUSING TO FIX THIS PROBLEM. AS I WAS DRIVING AT ABOUT 40 MPH THE CAR MADE AN ELECTRICAL NOISE AND THE STEERING WHEEL BEGAN SHAKING VIOLENTLY. I FOUGHT THE SHAKING WHEEL TO PULL THE CAR OVER AND TURNED IT OFF. THE CONTACT LATER RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBERS: 15V568000 (ENGINE) AND 14V434000 (POWER TRAIN). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. I FILLED UP MY CAR ON THURSDAY AFTER FILLING IT UP THE FIRST TIME I STARTED THE CAR THE GAUGE READ FULL, LATER ON WHILE DRIVE THE FUEL GAUGE SAID 3/4 FULL EVEN THOUGH I HAD DRIVEN A FEW MILES. THE NEXT DAY AFTER TAKING MY KIDS TO SCHOOL I STOPPED TO RUN AN ERRAND. I GET BACK IN MY CAR TO START IT UP AND THE GAS LIGHT IS ON AND THE FUEL GAUGE SAYS EMPTY. DRIVING ON INTERSTATE FOR APPROX 1 HOUR, WHEN SUNROOF EXPLODED OUTWARDS, NO ROAD DEBRIS HIT THE VEHICLE TO CAUSE EXPLODING SUNROOF, IT WAS NOT AN EXTREME TEMPERATURE CHANGE. SOUND WAS LIKE A GUNSHOT INSIDE THE CAR, AND THANKFUL THAT THE MOONROOF COVER WAS CLOSED AT THE TIME SO THAT GLASS DID NOT SHOWER INTO THE CAR WHILE DRIVING. VERY FRIGHTENING AND COULD HAVE EASILY CAUSED ACCIDENT. GOING ROUNDS WITH HYUNDAI RIGHT NOW TO GET REPAIRED. DEALERSHIP STATING THAT HYUNDAI WILL NOT COVER THE PART. DEALERSHIP SUGGESTING I FILE WITH MY INSURANCE COMPANY, HOWEVER THIS WAS A FAULT ISSUE WITH PRODUCT, NOT INSURANCE RELATED. VEHICLE UNDER WARRANTY AND STILL HAVING ISSUES WITH THE DEALERSHIP. *TR
WHEN TRAVELING AT LOW SPEEDS CAR MAKES A CLUNKING SOUND. WAS VERY CONCERN SOMETHING WAS WRONG WITH THE SUSPENSION, TOOK THE CAR TO MY MECHANIC. THE MECHANIC PUT THE VEHICLE ON THE LIFT AND FOUND THE SUSPENSION TO BE IN GOOD SHAPE. HE THEN TEST DROVE THE CAR AND STATED THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE 2011 SONATAS WITH THE POWER STEERING. STATED THAT A RUBBER COUPLING IN THE MOTOR DRIVEN POWER STEERING ASSEMBLY IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE 2011 HYUNDAI SONATAS.
AS I BEGAN DRIVING MY 2011 HYUNDAI SONATA THAT MORNING I HEARD A RATTLE WHENEVER MY RPM WOULD REACH BETWEEN 2-3K. I CONTACTED MY LOCAL HYUNDAI DEALERSHIP AND MADE AN APPOINTMENT. TODAY 11/20/14I WAS TOLD THAT MY ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. MY CAR WAS PREVIOUSLY IN THE DEALERSHIP LATE SEPTEMBER 2014FOR AN OIL CHANGE AND ALSO DUE TO A SMALL KNOCK/BANG AS I ACCELERATED. THE TECHNICIAN FOUND THE KNOCK TO BE A SUPPORT HITTING AGAINST THE FIREWALL. UPON TIGHTENING SAID SUPPORT THE PROBLEM WENT AWAY. THE CAR WAS REPORTEDLY TEAT DRIVEN BY THE TECHNICIAN NUMEROUS TIMES TO CONCLUDE THAT THE PROBLEM WAS FIXED. OIL CHANGE WAS DONE AS USUAL AND MY CAR WAS GIVEN A CLEAN BILL OF HEALTH (ONLY A RECOMMENDATION OF BRAKES GETTING LOW). *TR

THEY CLAIMED ONE HAD ALREADY BEEN PERFORMED AND THIS SOUNDED LIKE A COUPLING PROBLEM.I TOOK IT IN FOR AM OVERVIEW AND THEY CONFIRMED IT IS THE COUPLING. I HAVE READ MANY SIMILAR COMPLAINTS WITH EVEN WORSE RESULTS. THE PART ITSELF IS CHEAP TO REPLACE ONLINE...BUT LABOR IS OVER 250 DOLLARS AT THE LOCAL DEALER.
