MY 2011 SONATA HAS FAILED TO START 3 TIMES THIS PAST MONTH. THE BRAKE WILL NOT DEPRESS AND IT APPEARS THAT IT DOESN'T RECOGNIZE THAT I HAVE THE KEY. IT HAS A PUSH BUTTON START AND THE KEY DOES NOT GO IN THE IGNITION. AFTER A FEW HOURS IT STARTS. I HAVE BEEN STRANDED IN THE DARK AND THIS MADE IT A SAFETY ISSUE ON A PERSONAL BASIS. *TR
WHILE DRIVING AT 55 MPH ON THE HIGHWAY, THE CAR SELF ENGAGED AND SET THE CRUISE CONTROL WITH NO DRIVER INPUT. THE CAR STARTED TO ACCELERATE TO A HIGHER SPEED, BUT STOPPED ACCELERATING WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS PRESSED. THE CRUISE CONTROL WAS OFF AT THE TIME OF THE INCIDENT. THE CAR IS LESS THAN 2 MONTHS OLD AND HAS ALREADY BEEN IN THE SHOP FOR OTHER CRUISE CONTROL RELATED PROBLEMS. THIS CAR IS THE NEW SONATA HYBRID AND HAS HAD MULTIPLE OTHER PROBLEMS REQUIRING NUMEROUS VISITS TO THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT.
HYUNDAI SONATA 2011 NEW STEERING PROBLEM , ALIGNMENT PROBLEM THE CAR PULL TO THE RIGHT LEAVING THE LANE ON HIGH WAY WITH STRONG RESIST FROM THE STEERING POWER ASSIST TO RETURN TO THE LANE WRONG ALIGNMENT NOT ADJUSTABLE BY THE DEALER WHO DID IT 4 TIMES THE LAST ONE THE HYUNDAI REPRESENTATIVE ASK FOR NON STANDARD PARTS TO FIX THE PROBLEM WITH BIGGER SIZES IN BRAKING ON HIGH SPEED 100 KM THE CAR TURN TO THE RIGHT AND WAS STOPPED AWAY FROM THE NEXT LANE CARS BY 5 CM THIS PULLING IS ALL THE TIME AND IN CORNERS TURN THE CAR MOVES IN ZIGZAG THE POWER STEERING ASSIST STOPPED ASSISTING OVER 40 KM SPEED AND THE FORCE FROM THE MOVING WHEELS IS VERY HIGH YOU HAVE TO USE BOTH HANDS STRONGLY ALL THE WAY OF THE TRIP TO KEEP THE CAR IN TRACK BY SHIFTING THE WHEEL 3 DEGREE TO THE LIFT IF YOU ARE LUCKY AND NO STRONG BREAKS NEED IT MAY YOU WILL BE SAFE. *TR
MY CAR (2011 HYUNDAI SONATA )STARTS DRIFTING TO THE LEFT WHEN GOING OVER 60 MPH. I CONTACTED THE HYUNDAI DEALER WHERE I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE IN FEBRUARY AND WAS TOLD "IT'S A DEFECT IN THE 2011 HYUNDAI SONATA, BUT HYUNDAI DOES NOT HAVE A FIX FOR IT YET ." *TR
LEASED 2011 HYUNDAI SONATA ON 6/21/11. ON 6/25 WITH 140 MILES ON THE ODOMETER I NOTICED A STRONG PULL TO THE LEFT AT ABOUT 35 MPH. NEEDED TO ACTIVELY CORRECT STEERING TO KEEP CAR IN A STRAIGHT TRAJECTORY. I IMMEDIATELY CHECKED TIRE PRESSURE LOOKED UNDER THE CAR FOR ANYTHING OBVIOUS BUT FOUND NOTHING. DID NOT DRIVE ON HIGH SPEED ROADWAY UNTIL MANY DAYS LATER AND FOUND THAT AT 65 MPH THE PROBLEM WAS THE SAME. AFTER JULY 4TH HOLIDAY I TELEPHONED HYUNDAI DEALERSHIP AND THEY TOLD ME TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT, THEY SAID THEY HAD NEVER HEARD THAT BEFORE.I DID NOT GO TO THE DEALERSHIP THRU TODAY 8/15/11. I HAVE HOWEVER SEEN THE NUMEROUS SAME COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE 2011 SONATA. I WANTED TO MAKE MY OWN SELF HEARD AS TO THIS PROBLEM. IT CONTINUES TODAY AND I AM GOING TO GO TO THE DEALERSHIP BUT EXPECT THE SAME STONEWALLING I HAVE READ ABOUT. *TR
THE CAR PULLS TO THE LEFT AND THE STEERING IS SLIGHTLY TILTED LEFT IN NORMAL DRIVING POSITION. ALSO HAVE TO APPLY A CONSTANT FORCE TO KEEP THE CAR STRAIGHT. AT HIGH SPEEDS THE STEERING FEELS FREE. *TR
PURCHASED 2011 SONATA GLS ON 6/20/11. DRIVING HOME I HAD TO MAKE MY LEFT HAND HOLD TIGHTER ON THE STEERING WHEEL TO KEEP THE CAR FROM DRIFTING TO THE RIGHT. AS I RELEASED MY GRIP FROM THE STEERING WHEEL I NOTICED THE CAR PULLING/DRIFTING ALL THE WAY TO THE RIGHT AS FAR AS SPACE WOULD ALLOW. NOTIFIED DEALERSHIP IMMEDIATELY, HAD CAR SERVICED 4 TIMES IN TWO MONTHS. HYUNDAI ADJUSTED TIRE PRESSURE, DID ALIGNMENT, ROAD FORCE BALANCE TEST AND ROTATED TIRES, DID ANOTHER ALIGNMENT. THIS HAS LESSENED THE PULLING/DRIFTING TO THE RIGHT (SOME PULLING/DRIFTING STILL REMAINS) AND WHAT WILL HAPPEN WHEN, DURING NORMAL MAINTENANCE, I ROTATE THE TIRES BACK TO THEIR ORIGINAL POSITION? WILL THIS TERRIBLE PULLING/DRIFTING TO THE RIGHT BEGIN ALL OVER AGAIN? THE PROBLEM REMAINS THAT WHEN YOU MOVE THE STEERING WHEEL TO THE RIGHT TO EITHER STAY IN YOUR LANE, CHANGE LANES TO THE RIGHT, OR MAKE A RIGHT HAND TURN, AFTER YOU COME BACK TO CENTER, THE CAR DRIFTS BACK TO THE RIGHT. AT FIRST HYUNDAI WOULD NOT ACKNOWLEDGE THAT THERE WAS ANY PROBLEM. THEY NOW SAY THAT THIS IS NORMAL. HOW IS IT NORMAL WHEN IT DOES NOT DO IT TO THE LEFT? HYUNDAI SERVICE MANAGERS SAY THIS PROBLEM OCCURS ON ALL 2011 SONATA'S FROM MINOR TO MAJOR PULLING TO THE LEFT OR RIGHT ON EACH VEHICLE. HYUNDAI HAS REFUSED TO CONTINUE TO TRY TO FIX THIS PROBLEM. I HAVE FILED A COMPLAINT WITH HYUNDAI MOTOR AMERICA AND HAVE A CASE NUMBER AND HAVE CONTACTED MY STATE'S ATTORNEY GENERAL'S OFFICE. I WILL BE CONTACTING HYUNDAI AGAIN BY CERTIFIED LETTER REQUESTING THAT THEY TELL ME WHAT THEY INTEND TO DO TO FIX MY BRAND NEW CAR. WHY IS THERE NO RECALL FOR PEOPLE IN MY SITUATION? WHY IS HYUNDAI NOT HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR WHAT THEY HAVE DONE AND BE MADE TO FIX MY BRAND NEW CAR? AS CONSUMERS WE PAY A LOT OF MONEY FOR THESE CARS. THEY ASK US TO BE HONEST WITH THEM ON THEIR TV COMMERCIAL, BUT WHEN I DID THEY DID NOT LIKE IT.
I HAVE A NEW 2011 SONATA. I BEEN HAVING EVERY PROBLEM YOU CAN IMAGINE WITH MY CAR. THIS TIME IT'S MY LEFT TAIL LIGHT, IT WAS LITERALLY HANGING ON BECAUSE OF MY TRUNK. I LOOKED INSIDE WHERE THE LIGHT USE TO BE ATTACHED AND ALL THE PLASTIC CRUMBLED APART. I CALLED HYUNDAI ABOUT IT AND THEY SAID THEY HAD A NEW TAIL LIGHT TO REPLACE MINE WITH AND WHEN I GOT THERE FOUND OUT IT WAS BROKEN, SO THEY TOOK A TAIL LIGHT OFF ANOTHER SONATA AND PUT IT ON MINE UNTIL THEY ORDER ANOTHER ONE. MY ORIGINAL TAIL LIGHT SCRATCHED AND CRAVED THE PAINT ON MY CAR IN AND AROUND THAT AREA. IT COULD HAVE EASILY CAUSED AN ACCIDENT IF I HAD NOT BEEN SO CAUTIOUS DRIVING AFTER SEEING IT HANGING ON BY MY TRUNK. ONE OF THE SERVICE GUYS TOLD ME THIS WAS THE 4TH TIME HE SEEN THIS! *TR
VEHICLE PULLS TO RIGHT SIDE ALL THE TIME BROUGHT TO DEALER DID RECALL FOR PULLING FRONT STRUTS WHEEL ALIGNMENT REPLACED L/FRONT STRUT AGAIN AND WHEEL ALIGNMENT CAR STILL PULLS TO RIGHT. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 HYUNDAI SONATA. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING 25 MPH WHEN THE VEHICLE BEGAN PULLING TO THE LEFT ABNORMALLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER WHO ATTEMPTED TO REPAIR THE FAILURE BUT TO NO AVAIL. THE DEALER ADVISED THAT THE STRUTS WERE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE HOWEVER, A COMPATIBLE STRUT WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND A CLAIM WAS FILED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 1,500.
FROM THE INITIAL TEST DRIVE I NOTICED A PULL IN THE STEERING. IT WAS MENTIONED AND I WAS TOLD THAT IT WAS A SIMPLE ALIGNMENT ISSUE. AFTER PURCHASED I ASKED ABOUT THE STEERING. UNFORTUNATELY, (I WAS TOLD) THE DEALERSHIP DID NOT HAVE THE ROAD FORCE BALANCE MACHINE FOR THEM TO PROPERLY TEST THE ALIGNMENT. I WAITED TILL NOVEMBER BEFORE THIS WAS AVAILABLE. THE 2011 SONATA WANDERED THE ROAD AND PULLED CONSTANTLY TO ONE SIDE OR THE OTHER (WITH NO RHYME OR REASON). AT ONE POINT IT WOULD PULL SO HARD THE VEHICLE WOULD "V-LINE" OFF ROAD ONCE LETTING GO OF STEERING WHEEL. AFTER SEVERAL REPAIR ATTEMPTS (REPLACED STRUTS, CAMBER BOLT KITS, FRONT TIRES AND SEVERAL ALIGNMENTS) THE PULL WAS STILL THERE. THERE WAS NOTHING MORE HYUNDAI CAN DO AND I WAS TOLD "THAT'S JUST HOW THE CAR IS". I HAVE GONE THROUGH TWO ARBITRATION HEARINGS WITH THE BBB AND HYUNDAI STILL CONTINUES TO SAY "THERE'S NOTHING MORE WE CAN DO, THE CAR IS PERFORMING AS IT IS INTENDED TO". NEGATIVE HYUNDAI!!! THE CAR STILL PULLS AND WANDERS AS IT PLEASES AND I HAVE HAD SWAY BAR LINKS BREAK DURING NORMAL DRIVING CONDITIONS. HYUNDAI IS SAYING I HAVE HIT AN "ANIMAL" AND THE IMPACT HAS BENT BOTH OF THE SWAY BAR LINKS AND BROKE ONE ON THE RIGHT FRONT. ALL THOUGH THERE IS NO BODY DAMAGE FROM THIS ANIMAL AND NO SCRAPES ON THE UNDERCARRIAGE. I NEVER HIT ANYTHING IN THE CAR AND FEEL THIS BREAKAGE IS DUE TO ADDED PRESSURE ON SUSPENSION/STEERING PARTS FROM ADJUSTMENT MADE BY HYUNDAI TO "TRY" AND GET CAR TO DRIVE STRAIGHT. MY WARRANTY HAS BEEN DENIED AND HYUNDAI REFUSES TO MAKE THE REPAIRS. SO DON'T LET THE 10 YEAR/100,000 MILE WARRANTY LET YOU MAKE THE DECISION WHEN BUYING, WHEN THEY CAN DENY YOUR WARRANTY ANYTIME THEY WANT WITH ANY MADE UP EXCUSE. I HAVE BEEN FIGHTING FOR WELL OVER 8 MONTHS FOR A REFUND ON THIS CAR AND I'M STILL FIGHTING!! *TR
STEERING ON 2011 HYUNDAI SONATA PULLS TO THE LEFT. PROBLEM IS WORSE AT HIGHER SPEEDS. TECHNICIAN AT OIL CHANGE SHOP NOTICED FEATHERING OF TIRES @ ~5000 MILES. TOOK IT TO DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD THE ALIGNMENT WAS WITHIN FACTORY SPECS. ABOUT 9 MONTHS LATER TIRE NOISE AND HANDLING WERE BAD ENOUGH I TOOK IT BACK. AT FIRST, I WAS TOLD THEY COULDN'T REPRODUCE THE ISSUE. COMPLAINED IN SURVEY AND DEALERSHIP CALLED AND ASKED TO LOOK AT IT AGAIN. I WAS TOLD THE TIRES WERE PRETTY BADLY CHOPPED UP AT THIS POINT. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 HYUNDAI SONATA. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH, THE VEHICLE CONTINUOUSLY PULLED INTO THE LEFT DIRECTION. THE FAILURE OCCURRED WHENEVER THE VEHICLE WAS IN OPERATION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER SEVEN DIFFERENT TIMES FOR THE SAME PROBLEM. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND A FILED SERVICE ENGINEER INSPECTED THE VEHICLE; HOWEVER THEY COULD NOT DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER REPLACED ALL FOUR TIRES AS A GOODWILL. THE FAILURE PERSISTED AFTER THE REPLACEMENT OF THE TIRES. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 35.
I STOPPED BY THE GAS STATION TO FILL UP AND TURNED OFF MY CAR. AFTER FILLING THE GAS TANK I ATTEMPTED TO START MY CAR AND WAS UNABLE TO GET THE CAR OUT OF "PARK." I TRIED MULTIPLE TIMES AND EVEN ASKED THE GAS ATTENDANT TO TRY AND THEY WERE UNABLE TO GET THE VEHICLE OUT OF PARK AS WELL. THIS LASTED FOR ABOUT 10 MINUTES BEFORE I WAS ABLE TO GET THE CAR OUT OF PARK AND PROCEED ON MY WAY. *TR
WHEN HEADLIGHTS ARE ON LOW BEAM, YOU CAN DEFINITELY SEE A HORIZONTAL LINE. I NOTICED THIS WHEN DRIVING ON BACKROADS. AT SOME POINTS I CANNOT SEE MORE THAN A FEW FEET IN FRONT OF MY VEHICLE. VERY DANGEROUS ESPECIALLY IF THERE WAS SOMETHING OR SOMEONE IN THE ROAD AHEAD. NO VISIBILITY AT ALL. I TURNED ON MY LIGHTS IN MY GARAGE AND YOU COULD DEFINITELY SEE THE FLAT LINE ON THE GARAGE WALL. I DON'T FEEL SAFE DRIVING AT NIGHT ESPECIALLY ON BACKROADS WHICH I HAVE TO DO OFTEN. *TR
THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE STEERING IN MY 2011 HYUNDAI SONATA LIMITED. AT SPEEDS ABOVE ABOUT 45 MPH, THE VEHICLE DRIFTS RANDOMLY LEFT & RIGHT. THE HIGHER THE SPEED, THE WORSE IT IS. THE VEHICLE IS ALSO VERY SENSITIVE TO WIND AND EVEN THE WAKE OF PASSING VEHICLES PUSHES THE CAR AROUND ON THE HIGHWAY. IT ALSO IS HARD TO STEER ON GROOVED PAVEMENT, WHICH CAUSES THE CAR TO SQUIRM AROUND ERRATICALLY. I AM CONSTANTLY "CORRECTING" THE STEERING TO MAINTAIN A STRAIGHT TRACK. THE VEHICLE OFTEN PULLS STRONGLY TO THE LEFT. THIS OCCURS ESPECIALLY WHEN ON THE LEFT SIDE OF A "CROWNED" HIGHWAY. PULLS VERY STRONGLY TO THE LEFT, BUT TRACKS STRAIGHT WHEN ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE ROAD. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 HYUNDAI SONATA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FRONT DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE HEADRESTS COULD NOT BE ADJUSTED. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND WAS TOLD THAT THE HEADREST COULD ONLY BE SET TO THE HIGHEST POSITION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE HEADREST SETTING MADE IT UNCOMFORTABLE TO DRIVE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 15,000. *TR
UNABLE TO SHIFT THE CAR INTO DRIVE FROM PARK. WHILE STOPPED AT A RED LIFT THE CAR FAILED TO ACCELERATE WHEN PRESSING ON THE GAS. HAD TO PLACE THE CAR IN PARK AND TURN IT OFF. WHEN CAR WAS STARTED AGAIN IT FAILED TO BE PLACED INTO DRIVE. HAD TO KEEP RESTARTING CAR TO GET IT TO SHIFT INTO GEAR. ESC LIGHT COMES ON WHEN THIS HAPPENS AND SAFETY ON EVEN AFTER ABLE TO SHIFT INTO PARK. ESC DOES NOT WORK PROPERLY WHEN THIS OCCURS. CAR DOES NOT HANDLE PROPERLY WHILE ON ICE, SNOW OR WET GROUND. *TR
MY 2011 HYUNDAI SONATA LIMITED IS PULLING RIGHT. NOTICED IT AFTER DRIVING HOME. WENT BACK WITHIN THE WEEK TO DEALER SERVICE CENTER. THE PULLING RIGHT IS STILL THERE, NOT AS SEVERELY, BUT STILL THERE. TOOK IT IN 3 WEEKS FROM PURCHASE, THEIR MACHINERY SAYS THERE IS NO ALIGNMENT PROBLEM, BUT EVERY TIME ROAD TEST DRIVE WAS DONE, IT STILL PULLS TO THE RIGHT. NOW, I HAVE BEEN GIVEN A RENTAL CAR AND THEY ARE KEEPING IT FOR 2 DAYS JUST TO FIX AN ALIGNMENT PULLING TO RIGHT. *TR
REAR TAIL LIGHTS KEEP BLOWING OUT BULBS
WITHIN DAYS OF PURCHASING THIS VEHICLE IT WAS NOTICED THAT IT PULLED TO THE LEFT. WE DROVE IT FOR 1,000 MILES THINKING THAT IT WAS WINTER WITH SLUSH ON THE ROADS AND THEREFORE THIS MAY CAUSED THE PULLING. WE TOOK IT OUT ON THE ROAD AND IT DID NOT STOP PULLING TOT HE LEFT. THE PULL WAS CONSTANT AND REQUIRED ONE TO APPLY PRESSURE TO THE STEERING WHEEL TO THE RIGHT TO COUNTER THE CONSTANT PULL TO THE LEFT. WE HAVE TAKEN THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER 3 TIMES AND THERE HAS BEEN NO MEDIATION OF THE PROBLEM. I HAVE CALLED THE HYNUDAI CUSTOMER SERVICE. THE FIRST TIME I LEFT THE CAR WITH THE DEALER FOR 4 DAYS. THEY SAID EVERYTHING WAS IN "SPEC" WITH HYUNDAI SPECIFICATIONS. THEY EVEN SAID THE TECHNICIAN DROVE THE CAR AND FOUND NO PULLING TO THE LEFT. I LEFT THE LOT AND IMMEDIATELY RETURNED STATING IT PULLED AS BAD AS BEFORE. I BROUGHT IT IN AGAIN AND THEY ROTATED THE TIRE AND BALANCED THEM. THIS DID NOT CORRECT THE PROBLEM. THIS LAST TIME, THE DEALER PERFORMED A ROAD TEST FORCE BALANCE. THIS HAS NOT CORRECTED THE PROBLEM. THIS PULLING IS ACUTE AND IS A SAFETY HAZARD. IT IS TO THE POINT THAT I WILL NOT ALLOW MY SPOUSE TO DRIVE THE CAR OUT OF TOWN. THE DEALER ACKNOWLEDGES NOR ADMITS THIS IS A SAFETY PROBLEM BUT THE SERVICE MANAGER DID INDICATE WHEN HE RODE WITH ME THERE IS A DEFINITE STEERING PROBLEM. I HAVE RECEIVED NO SATISFACTION FROM THE DEALER. THIS PROBLEM NEEDS TO BE CORRECTED BY HYUNDAI BEFORE A FATALITY OCCURS.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH, ALL OF THE LAMPS ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL ILLUMINATED, THE AIR CONDITIONER SYSTEM FAILED, AND THE ENGINE BEGAN TO LOSE POWER. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT ONCE THE VEHICLE WAS SHUT OFF AND RESTARTED, IT FUNCTIONED AS NORMAL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER, WHO WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 3,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 4,400. THE FAILURE RECURRED AT 4,400 MILES, TRAVELING AT 45 MPH. CAR AT DEALERSHIP NOW, I AM TOLD THE PROBLEM IS A COMPONENT THAT DETERMINES IF CAR IS IN ENGINE OR ELECTRIC MODE. PART IS ON ORDER- SVC MGR. VEHICLE TRACKS--POORLY PULLS TO LEFT AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. BROUGHT BACK TO DEALER FOR FIX , ALIGNMENT PERFORMED SEVERAL TIMES. REQUIRES MUCH MORE EFFORT TO HOLD STEERING, AND CREATES FATIGUE AFTER HOURS OF DRIVING. I CONSIDER THIS A HAZZARD CONDITION

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND THEY ADVISED HIM THAT THEY WERE UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. IN ADDITION, WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS THE STEERING WHEEL WOULD PULL TO THE LEFT VERY HARD. ONCE UNLOCKED, I ENTERED THE VEHICLE AND ATTACH THE SEAT BELT. I PLACE THE KEY FOB ON THE DASHBOARD, DEPRESS THE BRAKE PEDAL AND PRESS THE ENGINE START BUTTON. THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM WILL CYCLE THROUGH ACC AND ON MODE BUT THE CAR WILL NOT START. A CHECK OF THE BATTERY SYSTEM SHOW THAT THE CAR BATTERY IS AT FULL POWER. THIS PROBLEM OCCURS INTERMITTENTLY. THE ONLY RELIABLE SOLUTION FOR STARTING THE CAR IS TO DEPRESS THE BRAKE PEDAL AND DEPRESS THE ENGINE START BUTTON FOR A MINIMUM OF 10 SECONDS. DEFECTIVE TIRE PRESSURE MONITOR SYSTEM. DURING A 5 MONTH CYCLE WITH A DISTANCE DRIVEN OF 4500 MILES, THE TIRE PRESSURE MONITOR SYSTEM WARNING LIGHT WAS ACTIVATED 7 SEPARATE TIMES DURING NORMAL DRIVING CONDITIONS. CHECKS WITH A PRESSURE GAUGE IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWING ACTIVATION SHOWED THAT THE TIRE PRESSURE WAS WITHIN 1 PSI OF THE RECOMMENDED TIRE PRESSURE. ON EACH OCCASION THE TIRE PRESSURE MONITOR WARNING LIGHT RESET WITHOUT ANY MANUAL INTERVENTION. IT WOULD TAKE FROM 20 MILES OF DRIVING UP TO 200 MILES OF DRIVING TO RESET. PURCHASED NEW HYUNDAI SONATA LIMITED 2.0T. FROM THE TIME OF DELIVERY, STEERING PULLS LEFT, ESPECIALLY IN THE CENTER AND LEFT LANES ON 3-LANE ROADS (IE. INTERSTATE HIGHWAYS). *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 HYUNDAI SONATA. THE CONTACT STATED THE VEHICLE WOULD DRIFT TOWARDS THE DRIVER'S SIDE WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE FAILURE WAS DUE TO THE BALANCING OF THE TIRES. THE VEHICLE WAS ALIGNED BUT THE FAILURE CONTINUED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE IT WAS IN THE PROCESS OF HAVING THE FAILURE DIAGNOSED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 500.
THE VEHICLE TRACKS TO THE LEFT. DESPITE NUMEROUS ATTEMPTS AT FIXING THE ISSUE THE DEALERS (MORE THAN ONE) CAN'T SEEM TO FIX THIS. HYUNDAI HAVE ISSUED A RECALL ON IT (SONATA-TR01) YET THIS 'FIX' DOESN'T RECTIFY THE PROBLEM. *TR
I BOUGHT A 2011 HYUNDAI SONATA 2 WEEKS AGO AND FOUND A LEFT PULL PLUS A SLIGHT DRIFT TO EITHER SIDE WHEN GOING STRAIGHT ON A HIGHWAY BETWEEN 55-80 . IT TURNS WELL IN THE CORNERS EITHER LEFT OR RIGHT BUT AGAIN WHEN GOING STRAIGHT IT HAS A TENDENCY TO WONDER TO EITHER SIDE AND AT TIMES A SLIGHT PULL TO THE LEFT. AT THIS POINT IT IS JUST A BIT ANNOYING BUT I AM AFRAID OF IT GETTING WORSE AS TIME GOES ON. I AM PLACING A CALL IN THE AM WITH MY DEALER AND POSSIBLY TO HYUNDAI ASSISTANCE TO FILE A COMPLAINT. I FOUND THIS ISSUE WHEN I EASED OFF THE STEERING WHEEL ON A STRAIGHT STRETCH OF HIGHWAY FOR ABOUT 3 SECONDS IT WILL GO STRAIGHT THEN IT WILL GO IN EITHER DIRECTION ON A STRAIGHTAWAY. I FIND THAT WHEN I HAVE THE STEERING WHEEL STRAIGHT IT WILL TRAVEL STRAIGHT FOR A FEW SECONDS AND THEN START VEERING OFF TO EITHER SIDE. MY INITIAL THOUGHTS AFTER READING SOME POSTS ON THE HYUNDAI FORUMS IS THAT IT IS A DISCONNECT WITH THE ELECTRONIC STEERING CONTROL COMPUTER OR THE SOFTWARE FOR IT HAS A FLAW IN IT. MY CAR WAS BUILT IN MARCH OF THIS YEAR AND I KNOW FROM READING POSTS FROM BACK IN EARLY 2010 THIS HAS BEEN AN ISSUE. I DON'T THINK IT IS A FRONT END ALIGNMENT PROBLEM BECAUSE WHEN YOU STOP THE CAR IT GOES STRAIGHT. I'M NOT SURE IF TIRES COULD BE THE ISSUE EITHER AS MANY POSTED THAT THEY HAD ALL THE TIRES CHECKED AND REPLACED, STRUTS CHANGED, WHEEL BEARINGS CHANGED, STEERING ANGLE SENSOR RECALIBRATED AND STILL THE PROBLEM PERSISTS. I CAN LIVE WITH THE ISSUE FOR NOW BUT IF IT GETS WORSE COULD BECOME A BIG SAFETY ISSUE. MY WIFE DRIVES THIS CAR WITH MY DAUGHTER WHO HAS A DISABILITY. MY CONCERN IS FOR THEM GETTING INTO AN ACCIDENT BECAUSE OF THIS. OR WORSE CAUSING AN ACCIDENT WHICH CLAIMS LIVES. AGAIN I WILL GO BACK TO THE DEALER TO HAVE THIS LOOKED AT BUT I AM NOT CONFIDENT THAT THEY WILL BE ABLE TO FIX THIS ISSUE. I HAVE READ THAT HYUNDAI ENGINEERS HAVE NOT BE ABLE TO FIGURE OUT WHAT IS WRONG. IT'S A SHAME I LIKE THE CAR. PLEASE GET HYUNDAI TO FIX THIS BEFORE SOMEONE GETS HURT. *TR
