ORDERED & PURCHASED A BRAND NEW 2011 SONATA SE TURBO IN RADIANT SILVER VIA HYUNDAI OF NANUET WHO SWAPPED MY VEHICLE OUT FROM GLICK, HYUNDAI OF MONTICELLO, NY. SINCE THE FIRST DRIVE HOME, THE STEERING WHEEL HAS BEEN OFF CENTER & CONSTANTLY PULLS TO THE LEFT SIDE OF ROADWAY AT VARIOUS SPEEDS MORE PRONOUNCED AT HIGHER SPEEDS. THIS IS NOT AN ISOLATED DEFECT AS THERE ARE HUNDREDS OF EXACT COMPLAINTS & GROWING FOR THIS MODEL YEAR NEW CAR. A FACTORY RECALL ON THIS ISSUE SHOULD BE ORDERED AFTER DETERMINING THE ROOT PROBLEM & A EFFECTIVE SOLUTION. PLEASE DO THE RIGHT THING, WE ALL CAN'T BE WRONG! *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 HYUNDAI SONATA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE PARKED, SHE PRESSED THE KEY LESS IGNITION BUTTON TO START THE VEHICLE BUT THE VEHICLE FAILED TO START. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THE SENSOR SWITCH WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED. AFTER THE REPAIR THE FAILURE CONTINUED INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER TWO MORE TIMES FOR THE REPLACEMENT OF THE SENSOR SWITCH. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 3,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 HYUNDAI SONATA. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH WHEN HE DROVE OVER A PATCH OF ICE, CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO CRASH INTO A UTILITY POLE. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. A POLICE REPORT WAS AVAILABLE. NEITHER THE DEALER NOR THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE AIR BAG FAILURE. THE CONTACT WAS AWAITING THE RESULTS OF AN INVESTIGATION BY THE INSURANCE COMPANY. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 14,000.
I OWN A 2011 HYUNDAI SONATA SE. 11000 MILES. ON DECEMBER 11,2010 WHILE ON I-16 IN SAVANNAH, GEORGIA, I WAS DRIVING MY SONATA AND IT FELT LIKE MY FRONT END BOTTOMED OUT. RPMS REVVED UP AND STAYED AT 5000 AND I WAS ONLY TRAVELING AT 65MPH. IT WAS LIKE I WAS STUCK IN 2ND GEAR. GEARS WOULDN'T SHIFT UP OR DOWN. THIS WENT ON FOR 10 MILES. WHEN I SLOWED AND ACCELERATED IT WAS VERY HESITANT. I STOPPED THE CAR AND TURNED THE IGNITION OFF FOR 20 MINUTES. WHEN I STARTED IT AGAIN, IT SHIFTED NORMALLY. NO OTHER OCCURRENCES SINCE THEN. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 HYUNDAI SONATA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH, THE VEHICLE BEGIN TO ABNORMALLY PULL TO THE LEFT. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND THE DEALER STATED THAT THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE TIRE WOULD NEED REPLACING. THE DEALER REPLACED THE TIRE BUT THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER AND THE DEALER STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD NEED A WHEEL ALIGNMENT. THE DEALER PERFORMED A WHEEL ALIGNMENT BUT TO NO AVAIL. THE THIRD TIME, THE DEALER STATED THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT CALLED THE MANUFACTURER TO REPORT THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HE BELIEVED THE VEHICLE TO BE VERY UNSAFE TO DRIVE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 3,800.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 HYUNDAI SONATA LIMITED. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH HE NOTICED THAT THE VEHICLE PULLED TO THE LEFT. HE STATED THAT THE STEERING FEELS LIGHT WHEN TURNING TO THE LEFT AND HEAVY WHEN TURNING TO THE RIGHT. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR THE FAILURE. HE STATED THE FAILURE HAS BEEN ON GOING FOR THREE WEEKS. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 1,200.
MY 2011 HYUNDAI SONATA TRANSMISSION WENT AFTER 2 MONTHS. THE RPMS WENT HAYWIRE AND IT SWITCH GEARS. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND CHANGED THE TRANSMISSION. I HOPE THIS DOESN'T HAPPEN AGAIN. HOWEVER I 'M FINDING ALOT ON THE INTERNET IN REFERENCE TO THIS ISSUE. *LN
PURCHASED A 2011 HYUNDAI SONATA 2.0T (LIMITED W/ NAV) IN NOVEMBER, 2010. FROM THE ONSET, THE STEERING HAD A DISTINCT AND SIGNIFICANT PULL TO THE LEFT. THE STEERING WHEEL WOULD ALWAYS BE SLIGHTLY TURNED TO THE LEFT. RETURNED CAR TO DEALERSHIP SERVICE DEPARTMENT MID DECEMBER TO BE CORRECTED. DEALER STATED THAT THE ALIGNMENT WAS ADJUSTED AND IT WAS CORRECTED. THE STEERING PROBLEM RETURNED IMMEDIATELY. RETURNED CAR TO DEALERSHIP A SECOND TIME IN EARLY JANUARY. CAR IS CURRENTLY AT DEALERSHIP. THE DEALERSHIP STATED THAT CORPORATE HYUNDAI ENGINEERS ACKNOWLEDGE THE PROBLEM, BUT DO NOT HAVE A PERMANENT SOLUTION. THE STEERING ISSUE REQUIRES CONSTANT COMPENSATION TO THE RIGHT TO PREVENT THE CAR FROM UNINTENTIONALLY MOVING TO THE LEFT. IT OCCURS MAINLY DURING ACCELERATION AND AT CRUISING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. IT SHOULD BE NOTED THAT IT IS NOT AS NOTICEABLE DURING HARD ACCELERATION AS IT IS WITH A NORMAL LINEAR ACCELERATION. THE LEFT PULL IS REDUCED WHEN WEIGHTED WITH ADDITIONAL PEOPLE IN THE CAR. THE PULL, THOUGH CONSTANT, VARIES IN FORCE. AT TIMES, IT IS VERY STRONG AND OCCURS EVEN WHEN 'ROLLING' WITH WITHOUT ANY ACCELERATION, E.G., STOP AND GO TRAFFIC. BECAUSE THE STEERING ISSUE HAS NOT BEEN FIXED AND BECAUSE THERE IS NOT A PERMANENT SOLUTION FOR A WIDESPREAD PROBLEM, IT IS A PUBLIC SAFETY ISSUE THAT MUST BE ADDRESSED. THE CAR SIGNIFICANTLY PULLS TO THE LEFT DURING NORMAL DRIVING CONDITIONS WHICH IS A DESIGN DEFECT WITH POTENTIAL DANGER. *TR

THE VEHICLE HAD BEEN TO THE DEALER SEVERAL TIMES WHERE THE DEALER PERFORMED AN ALIGNMENT AND RESET THE ELECTRONIC STEERING BOX TO NO AVAIL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 15 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 1,335.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 HYUNDAI SONATA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS HAVING A STEERING PROBLEM AND PULLED HARD TO THE LEFT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHO STATED THAT THE PROBLEM WAS COMMON BUT THERE WAS NO REMEDY. THE VEHICLE WAS PUT UP ON AN ALIGNMENT RACK BUT IT COULD NOT BE STRAIGHTENED. AN ENGINEER FROM THE MANUFACTURER DROVE THE VEHICLE AND ACKNOWLEDGED BUT STATED THAT THERE WAS NO FIX FOR THE PROBLEM. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 24 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 900.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 HYUNDAI SONATA. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS WHEN SUDDENLY THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO PULL INTO THE LEFT DIRECTION. THE FAILURE OCCURRED WHENEVER THE VEHICLE WAS IN OPERATION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE THEY INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE FAILURE COULD BE RELATED TO THE ELECTRONIC STEERING OR THE STEERING CRADLE. ALSO, THE TECHNICIAN INFORMED THAT THERE WAS NOT A REMEDY FOR THE STEERING FAILURE AND WOULD CONTINUE TO INVESTIGATE FOR A RESOLUTION. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS LESS THAN 40.

ON 12/2/2010, I WAS DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEED (APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH) AND THE CAR VIOLENTLY JOLTED, AS IF I HAD RUN OVER A LARGE OBJECT. IF I HAD NOT HAD BOTH HANDS ON THE STEERING WHEEL, I MIGHT HAVE LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. SUBSEQUENTLY, I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE, BUT IT SEEMED TO BE OVER-REVVING, AS IF IT WAS STUCK IN THE WRONG GEAR. I RETURNED THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP THAT NIGHT. AFTER READING THE COMPUTER ERROR CODE, THE SERVICE MANAGER INDICATED THAT THEY WOULD HAVE TO REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION. I WAS PROVIDED WITH A LOANER VEHICLE. ON 12/8/10, I RECEIVED A CALL FROM THE SERVICE MANAGER. HE STATED THAT IN THESE CIRCUMSTANCE, THE TRANSMISSION IS TYPICALLY REPLACED WITH A REBUILT TRANSMISSION WITH A NEW HOUSING. HE INDICATED THAT THE DEALERSHIP WAS TRYING TO OBTAIN A NEW TRANSMISSION FOR ME. THEY WERE EXPERIENCING DIFFICULTY BECAUSE THERE WAS 80 SOME REQUESTS FOR NEW TRANSMISSIONS AND ONLY 70 SOME AVAILABLE (COUNTY?, STATE?, CENTRAL FLORIDA?) UPDATED 01/20/11 *BF
CAR CONSTANTLY PULLS TO THE LEFT WHEN ON HIGHWAY SPEEDS WHEN HANDS ARE OFF STEERING WHEEL. WHEN HANDS ARE ON STEERING WHEEL, I HAVE TO CONSTANTLY FIGHT IT.
VEHICLE PULLS HARD TO THE LEFT NO MATTER WHAT IS DONE. CAR IS BRAND NEW AND THIS SEEMS TO BE AN ISSUE AFFECTING MOST NEW SONATA SE'S AND SONATA SE 2.0T'S. THE DEALERSHIPS DENY THAT THIS IS AN ISSUE AND OFFER NO FIX AT THE MOMENT. *TR

I HAVE HAD RECURRING PROBLEMS WITH THE KEYLESS IGNITION. THE CAR FREQUENTLY DOES NOT START OR WILL NOT TURN OFF. I HAVE HAD IT REPAIRED THREE TIMES. I BELIEVE THAT THERE IS A DESIGN DEFECT. THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT AT THE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME IT IS WITH ALL 2011 HYUNDAI SONATAS AND I SHOULD JUST GET A NEW CAR. I AM FILING A COMPLAINT WITH BBB AUTOLINE (CALL 800-633-5151) AND MY STATE CONSUMER PROTECTION DEPARTMENT IN THE STATE ATTORNEY GENERAL'S OFFICE. I AM ALSO THINKING OF TAKING THEM TO COURT (MY FAMILY MEMBER IS AN ATTORNEY). IF ANYONE ELSE HAS THIS PROBLEM, PLEASE FILE COMPLAINTS EVERYWHERE YOU CAN. CAR HAS A CONSISTENT PULL TO THE LEFT THAT IS ALWAYS PRESENT. THE DEGREE OF THE LEFT PULL VARIES AND IS MUCH MORE NOTICEABLE WHEN CRUISING AT FREEWAY SPEEDS. THE MOMENT YOU ARE NO LONGER PUTTING PRESSURE ON THE STEERING WHEEL THE CAR WANDERS LEFT IMMEDIATELY. LEAVE PRESSURE OFF FOR ABOUT 5-7 SECONDS AND THE CAR HAS ALREADY DRIFTED AN ENTIRE LANE TO THE LEFT. IT DOESN'T SEEM TO MATTER WHAT TYPE OF ROAD BED YOU ARE ON, NOR DOES IT SEEM TO MATTER HOW MUCH OF A CROWN THE ROAD HAS. THE CAR PULLS LEFT UNDER ALL CONDITIONS(KEEPING STEADY RATE OF SPEED WITH ACCELERATOR, KEEPING STEADY RATE OF SPEED WITH CRUISE CONTROL, CAR IN NEUTRAL ROLLING ALONG, ACCELERATING). A FULL VEHICLE ALIGNMENT HAS NOT SOLVED THE PROBLEM. EVERY SIMILAR CAR AT THE DEALERSHIP WHERE I PURCHASED MINE FROM EXHIBITED THIS SAME BEHAVIOR. *TR
THE VEHICLE PULLS TO THE LEFT 100% OF THE TIME LIKE IT WAS OUT OF ALIGNMENT. STEERING WHEEL HAD TO BE TURNED A LITTLE TO THE RIGHT TO COMPENSATE ON DRIVING STRAIGHT. I JUST BOUGHT THIS CAR AND DID NOT HIT ANY CURB OR POT HOLES. THIS NEEDS TO BE LOOKED AT IMMEDIATELY AS THIS IS AFFECTING MANY PEOPLE WHO OWNS THIS CAR. A RECALL FOR THIS NEEDS TO BE INITIATED. *TR
THE STEERING PULLS TO THE LEFT, & SOMTIMES TO THE RIGHT. I HAVE TO STRUGGLE TO KEEP THE CAR FROM CROSSING THE CENTER LINE WHILE IT PULLS TO THE LEFT. STEERING HAS WANDERED SINCE CAR WAS NEW. FEELS UNSAFE TO ME. I TOOK CAR BACK TO DEALER AT 949 MILES. THEY DID RE=ALIGNMENT CAR STILL PULLS, TOOK CAR BACK 3 MORE TIMES TO DEALER FOR SAME STEERING PULL, DEALER ACKNOWLEDGES THE SEVER PULL, THEY INSTALLED A FACTORY SUGGESTED CAMBER KIT, CAR STILL PULLS & WANDERS. THIS CAR IS UNSAFE & SHOULD HAVE A RECALL.
2011 SONATA 2.0T LIMITED PULLS TO THE LEFT AT ALL TIMES. IT IS MUCH MORE APPARENT WHEN DRIVING ON THE FREEWAYS, BUT IS PRESENT WHEN DRIVING SLOWER ON SIDE STREETS AND COUNTY ROADS. THE DEGREE OF PULL VARIES. AT TIMES YOU CAN'T FEEL IT PULLING, BUT IF YOU TAKE PRESSURE OFF THE STEERING WHEEL THE VEHICLE DRIFTS LEFT. AT OTHER TIMES YOU CAN FEEL THE LEFT PULL AND HAVE TO CORRECT VIA PRESSURE ON THE STEERING WHEEL IN THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION. A FRONT AND REAR ALIGNMENT WAS PERFORMED AND THE PROBLEM IS STILL THERE. I TEST DROVE THE ONLY OTHER 2011 SONATA 2.0T AT MY LOCAL DEALERSHIP AND IT PULLED LEFT THE SAME AS MINE. *TR
2011 HYUNDAI SONATA LIMITED 2.0T WITH BUILD DATE 10/22/10. AT SPEEDS OVER 45 MPH THERE IS A SIGNIFICANT PULL TO THE LEFT. ALIGNMENT HAS BEEN CHECKED AND IS WITHIN SPEC. TIRES ARE PROPERLY INFLATED. AT LOWER SPEEDS THERE IS NO PULL. THIS OCCURS NO MATTER IF UNDER POWER OR NOT SO IT IS NOT TORQUE STEER. THIS IS REPEATABLE 100% OF THE TIME ON ANY FLAT ROAD GOING OVER 45 MPH. *TR
MY 2011 HYUNDAI SONATA 2.0T LIMITED PULLS TO THE LEFT AT ALMOST ANY SPEED IN 99% OF SCENARIOS. IT'S AS IF THE STEERING, WHEN AUTOMATICALLY CENTERING ITSELF, CENTERS ITSELF OFF TO THE LEFT. THE CAR ONLY HAS 200 MILES AND WAS IN FOR AN ALIGNMENT FROM THE DEALERSHIP, BUT THE CAR FEELS EXACTLY THE SAME. IF YOU ARE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY, WITHIN A SECOND OR TWO OF LETTING GO OF THE STEERING WHEEL THE CAR VEERS INTO THE NEXT LANE. IT'S QUITE ABRUPT AND COULD BE DANGEROUS. IT COULD ALSO BE HURTING FUEL MILEAGE AND CAUSING PREMATURE TIRE WEAR. *TR

PURCHASED 2011 HYUNDAI SONATA LTD TURBO IN NOV '10. CAR PULLS TO THE LEFT WHEN DRIVING AT ANY SPEED. FIRST SERVICE: DEALER PERFORMED 4 WHEEL ALIGNMENT. CAR STILL PULLS. SECOND SERVICE: DEALER CHECKED ALIGNMENT AND BALANCED ON ROAD FORCE BALANCER. DEALER RECOMMENDED REPLACEMENT RIM DUE TO MILD SCRATCH AND TIRE REPLACEMENT BECAUSE IT FLAT SPOTTED. CAR NOW PULLS HARDER THAN BEFORE, DANGEROUSLY SO AS TO CAUSE THE CAR TO CHANGE LANES AT THE SLIP OF THE WHEEL ON A STRAIGHT ROAD. TOOK CAR TO INDEPENDENT WHEEL AND TIRE ALIGNMENT AND ROTATION SPECIALIST, INSPECTED "SCRATCHED" RIM, STATED IT WAS BALANCED AND ANY DAMAGE COSMETIC. THIRD SERVICE: DEALER AND REGIONAL FIELD SERVICE ENGINEER (FSE) RE-CALIBRATED STEERING SENSOR, ADJUSTED REAR CAMBER. RECOMMENDED REPLACEMENT OF REAR WHEEL DUE TO SCRATCH. FSE DROVE THE CAR AND WAS SATISFIED WITH THE ALIGNMENT. CAR STILL PULLS EXACTLY AS BEFORE. *TR

I PURCHASED A 2011 HYUNDAI SONATA SE TURBO ON NOVEMBER 22, 2010. WITHIN APPROXIMATELY TWO TO THREE DAYS OF DRIVING THE VEHICLE, I HAD PROBLEMS WITH THE VEHICLE SEVERELY PULLING TO THE LEFT. I NOTIFIED MY LOCAL DEALERSHIP FROM WHERE I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE AND BROUGHT THE VEHICLE IN TO HAVE IT CHECKED OUT. I WAS INFORMED THAT THE STEERING COLUMN WAS OFF CENTERED AND THAT I WOULD NEED TO HAVE A WHEEL ALIGNMENT DONE. I HAD A WHEEL ALIGNMENT DONE AND THE SAME DAY THAT I RECEIVED THE CAR BACK, IT WAS STILL PULLING TO THE LEFT. I NOTIFIED THE DEALERSHIP ONCE AGAIN ABOUT THE PROBLEM AT WHICH TIME ANOTHER ALIGNMENT WAS PERFORMED. ONCE I RECEIVED THE VEHICLE BACK THE VEHICLE WAS STILL PULLING SEVERELY TO THE LEFT AND NOW THE LOW TIRE PRESSURE LIGHT CAME ON. WHILE DRIVING THIS VEHICLE IT IS A CONSTANT FIGHT WITH THE STEERING WHEEL JUST TO MAINTAIN A STRAIGHT PATH. SIMPLE THINGS SUCH AS USING ONE HAND TO TURN ON THE BLINKERS OR I.E. WINDSHIELD WIPERS CAUSES THE VEHICLE TO PULL TO THE LEFT. I AM CONCERNED ABOUT MY SAFETY WHILE DRIVING THIS VEHICLE AND FEEL AS THOUGH THIS PROBLEM NEED TO BE ADDRESSED IMMEDIATELY. PLEASE HELP CONCERNED DRIVER.

LIGHT REAPPEARED ON THE DRIVE HOME. 2 DAYS LATER, ENGINE STALLED. AFTER BEING TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP, THEY DISCOVERED AN EXHAUST VALVE MELTED/CRACKED AND DAMAGED THE COMBUSTION CHAMBER. BRAND NEW ENGINE ORDERED AND REPLACED. *TR

I HAVE A TURBO LIMITED SONATA. IT HAS A SEVERE LEFT PULL. IF I AM DRIVING ON A FLAT SURFACE AND LET GO OF THE STEERING WHEEL, I WOULD BE OFF THE ROAD TO THE LEFT IN ABOUT 5-6 SECONDS. IF I AM ACCELERATING, I WOULD BE OFF THE ROAD WITHIN 1-2 SECONDS. IT IS A REAL PROBLEM. MY DEALERSHIP DOES NOT HAVE THE SPECS TO FIX THE ISSUE. I CALLED THE NEXT CLOSEST DEALER AND THEY ALSO DO NOT HAVE A FIX. I AM CONSTANTLY ASSURED THAT HYUNDAI IS WORKING ON THE ISSUE, BUT LETS FACE IT, IT HAS BEEN OVER SIX MONTHS. I HAVE LOST FAITH THAT THEY ARE WORKING ON A FIX. THE NEWLY SOLD 2011 SONATA LIMITED TURBOS ARE BEING SOLD WITH THE 17" WHEELS, NOT THE 18" WHEELS I HAVE. THEREFORE, IT LOOKS AS THOUGH THEY ARE TRYING TO CHANGE IT TO FIX THE PROBLEM. BUT WHAT ABOUT THOSE OF US WITH THE 18" WHEELS? DO WE HAVE TO WAIT UNTIL SOMEONE DIES BEFORE THIS GETS FIXED? THAT IS NOT ACCEPTABLE TO ME. THERE ARE ALREADY OVER 165 COMPLAINTS AND I HOPE MORE ARE ADDED DAILY. I AM A REPEAT HYUNDAI SONATA BUYER AND VERY DISCOURAGED WITH THE QUALITY OF SAFETY IN THIS CAR. I TOOK IT TO A DEALERSHIP AND THEY ROTATED THE TIRES AND PERFORMED A FULL ALIGNMENT. THIS DID NOT SOLVE THE PROBLEM. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY CONCERN. DRIVERS HAVE MANY DISTRACTIONS, PHONES, RADIOS, DROPPING THINGS, KIDS, PETS, PUTTING MAKE-UP ON, ETC. THAT YOU MUST BE ALLOWED TO REMOVE THEIR HANDS FROM THE WHEEL FOR A FEW SECONDS WITHOUT THE CAR PULLED OUT OF THE LANE. HIGH BEAMS ON THE CAR ARE JUST ANOTHER STANDARD HEADLIGHT BULB. THE AIMING IS HIGHER TO CREATE A PERCEPTION OF GETTER VISIBILITY. HIGH BEAMS ARE NOT EFFECTIVE AT LIGHTING DARK COUNTRY ROADS. I BOUGHT A NEW 2011 HYUNDAI SONATA GLS. FROM THE FIRST DAY HAD IT I NOTICED A HARD PULLING TO THE LEFT WHILE DRIVING AT SPEEDS OVER 35 MPH. THE FASTER I GO, THE MORE DRAMATIC THE DRIFT. IT'S EXTREMELY HARD FOR ME TO COMFORTABLY DRIVE THIS CAR ON THE EXPRESSWAY DUE TO THE CONSTANT STRUGGLING TO KEEP THE CAR STRAIGHT. ONE SCARY INCIDENT OCCURRED WHEN I WAS GETTING ONTO AN EXIT RAMP AS THE STEERING WHEEL WAS JERKING THE CAR TO THE LEFT TOWARD A 10 FOOT DITCH. ALSO, WHILE STATIONARY, IF I PULL THE STEERING WHEEL TO 90 DEGREES TO THE LEFT AND LET GO, IT SNAPS BACK TO APPROXIMATELY 60-70 DEGREES LEFT OF CENTER. IF I PULL THE WHEEL 90 DEGREES RTO THE RIGHT, IT AGAIN SNAPS BACK 60-70 DEGREES LEFT OF CENTER. THERE IS A SERIOUS PROBLEM HERE AND WHEN BROUGHT THE CAR BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP, THEY SAID THAT CHECKING AIR PRESSURE AND TEST DRIVING IT SHOWED NO PROBLEMS. BROUGHT VEHICLE BACK TO SAME DEALER FOR A THIRD TIME, DEALER CONFIRMED VEHICLE WAS IN ALIGNMENT PER THEIR PREVIOUS WORK AND CLAIMED THERE WAS NOTHING ELSE THEY COULD DO. 4 DAYS LATER TAKE TO A SECOND HYUNDAI DEALER WHO CLAIMS ONE OF THE REAR TIRES WAS OUT OF ALIGNMENT, READJUST ALIGNMENT, HOWEVER, VEHICLE CONTINUES TO PULL OFF CENTER. IT'S A NEAR CONSTANT STRUGGLE TO KEEP THE CAR CENTERED IN THE LANE YOU ARE TRAVELING IN. HAVE CONDUCTED MY OWN TESTS ON RESIDENTIAL STREETS, COUNTY ROADS AND HIGHWAYS IN OPPOSITE DIRECTIONS OVER THE SAME STRETCH OF ROAD AND THE CAR CONTINUES NOT TO TRACK STRAIGHT. NONE OF THESE ATTEMPTS AT REPAIR HAVE FIXED THE ISSUE. IT WENT STRAIGHT AS AN ARROW NO MATTER HOW MUCH ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS APPLIED. THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON SINCE I TOOK THE CAR OFF THE LOT. I DIDN'T THINK ANYTHING OF IT AS THE DEALER SAID IT WAS NORMAL FOR A TURBO VEHICLE. AGAIN, THE VEHICLE I TEST DROVE AT ANOTHER VEHICLE WAS THE SAME TURBO MODEL AND IT DROVE STRAIGHT AS AN ARROW. *TR
I HAVE A 2011 SONATA. I AM VERY HAPPY WITH IT EXCEPT FOR THE HEADLIGHTS. WHEN ON LOWBEAM THERE IS A DEFINITE HORIZONTAL LINE JUST A FEW FEET OFF THE GROUND. ANYTHING ABOVE THAT LINE IS NOT ILLUMINATED BY ANY LIGHT. WHEN APPROACHING A SMALL HILL OR WHILE DRIVING IN THE MOUNTAINS, YOUR VISIBILITY IS WAY TOO SHORT - JUST A FEW FEET IN FRONT OF THE CAR. IN OTHER WORDS, THERE IS NO "SPLASH" OF DIMMER LIGHT ABOVE THIS HORIZONTAL LINE - THERE IS NO LIGHT AT ALL! (I HAVE A PHOTO THAT I WOULD LIKE TO SEND.) I HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE DEALER (HYUNDAI OF GREER) AND THEY CLAIM THE LIGHTS ARE PROPERLY ADJUSTED. IF THIS IS SO, THEN YOU HAVE A DESIGN DEFECT.
