VEHICLE WAS SOLD WITH NO LIGHTS IN BACK, INCLUDING BREAK AND REVERSE LIGHTS, BROKEN SEAT BELTS IN BACK SEATS AND ONE BACK SEAT THAT DOES NOT FOLD DOWN WHICH BLOCKS REAR VIEW, AND FINALLY WITH BALD TIRES THAT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED IMMEDIATELY. THE LIGHTS WERE SUPPOSEDLY FIXED BY THE DEALERSHIP'S REPAIR SHOP BUT AFTER ONLY A FEW WEEKS THE LIGHTS WERE NOT WORKING. THE SEAT BELTS WERE SUPPOSED TO BE REPLACED AND WE WERE TOLD THAT REPLACEMENTS WERE ORDERED BUT THE DEALERSHIP NEVER CALLED BACK TO CONFIRM THAT THEY ARRIVED AND READY FOR INSTALLATION, THEY STILL HAVE NOT BEEN REPLACED. WE WERE TOLD THAT THE TIRES AND SEAT FOLDING DOWN WERE NOT SAFETY ISSUES AND HAD TO REPLACE THE TIRES OURSELVES. THE SEAT STILL DOES NOT FOLD DOWN AND THE LIGHTS ON THE BACK OF THE VEHICLE STILL DON'T STAY ON.
WHEN DRIVING CAR AT NIGHT THE DASH LIGHTING AND THE HEAD LIGHTS WENT DARK FOR 5 MINUTES AND CAME BACK ON, DRIVER HAD TO PULL OVER AND ALMOST CAUSED AN ACCIDENT DUE TO NO LIGHTING. THIS HAS HAPPENED 3 TIMES IN THE PAST 3 WEEKS VERY CONCERNING. HEADLIGHTS AND DASH LIGHTING SHOULD NOT GO BAD BEFORE THE POWER TRAIN ON ANY CAR BUILT EVER.THANK GOD THE PERSON DRIVING WAS CALM ENOUGH TO HANDLE THE DISTRACTION.
DRIVING AT NIGHT THE HEADLIGHTS WOULD FLASH ON AN OFF

THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V438000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM); HOWEVER, THE PART TO DO THE REPAIR WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 81,000. WE PURCHASED OUR 2006 JEEP COMMANDER IN NOVEMBER, 2008. THE FIRST PROBLEM WE EXPERIENCED WAS THE ROUGH VIBRATION OF THE FRONT END. WE TOOK IT TO OUR MECHANIC AND WAS TOLD THAT HE WAS UNABLE TO SEE ANY THING PHYSICALLY WRONG. THIS PROBLEM HAS INCREASED OVER THE YEARS. THE SECOND PROBLEM WE NOTICED, ALL OF THE INTERIOR DOOR HANDLES BROKE WHICH CREATES SOME DIFFICULTY IN EXITING THE VEHICLE. WE MAINTAINED REGULAR MAINTENANCE ON THIS VEHICLE AND THE ONLY OTHER PROBLEM WE EXPERIENCED UNTIL NOW, WE PURCHASED TWO NEW BATTERIES AND THE AIR CONDITION BLOWER WAS REPLACED. IN AUGUST, 2014, I STARTED THE TRUCK, PRECEDED OUT OF THE PARKING LOT AND ALL THE DASH LIGHTS CAME ON AFTER A MINUTE OR SO THE LIGHTS WENT OFF BUT THE ENGINE LIGHT STAYED ON FOR 1 DAY. IT HAS DONE THIS SEVERAL TIMES AND THEN THE LIGHTS STARTED COMING ON WHILE I WAS DRIVING AT ANY SPEED IT APPEARED AS IF THE TRUCK WAS SHUTTING DOWN. IF I WAS ABLE TO I WOULD PULL OVER AND RESTART THE TRUCK THIS PRACTICE DID NOT STOP THE LIGHTS FROM COMING ON AND OFF. I WAS SITTING AT THE RED LIGHT AND PROCEEDED TO MOVE THE VEHICLE WHEN THE LIGHT CHANGE AFTER APPROXIMATELY 5 SECONDS OF ACCELERATION THE TRUCK SHUT COMPLETELY OFF THE DRIVER BEHIND ME COULDN'T HAVE NONE I WAS STOPPING BECAUSE I NEVER HIT THE BRAKES. I PLACED THE VEHICLE IN PARK AND RESTARTED IT. YESTERDAY WHILE DRIVING ALL THE LIGHTS CAME ON AND FLASHED OFF AND ON FOR ABOUT 5 MINUTES. I CONTINUED TO DRIVE FOR APPROXIMATELY 10 MILES TURNED THE KEY OFF AND THE KEY WAS UNUSUALLY HOT. THIS MORNING THE TRUCK WOULD NOT START EVERYTHING INSIDE THE VEHICLE CAME ON AND I COULD HEAR A CLICKING SOUND COMING FROM THE ENGINE I WAITED A FEW MINUTES AND TRIED IT AGAIN, AFTER 2 TRIES THE TRUCK STARTED. IF THIS IS A MANUFACTURER DEFECT WHOM DO I CONTACT TO HELP ME RESOLVE THIS MATTER. I AM AFRAID THIS TRUCK IN IT'S CURRENT CONDITION MAY BE A HAZARD TO MYSELF AND OTHERS. *TR
WHILE DRIVING - USUALLY AT NIGHT AND AT ALL SPEEDS MY HEADLIGHTS WILL FLICKER LIKE A STROBE LIGHT AND THEN GO OFF COMPLETELY, INCLUDING THE INTERIOR LIGHTS AS WELL INDICATING MY SPEED, ETC.. VERY, VERY DANGEROUS TO NOT BE ABLE TO SEE OR BE SEEN AT NIGHT IN RANDOM PLACES ON THE FREEWAY, IN THE CITY, ETC....PLEASE SOMEONE HELP - DEALER STATES THAT THEY HAVE NO CLUE AS TO WHAT THE PROBLEM MIGHT BE!! ANOTHER PROBLEM, I HAVE BEEN DEALING WITH, IS THE AIR CONDITIONER IN THE VEHICLE WILL STOP AND NOT BLOW ANY AIR. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY STATED THAT THEY DID NOT HAVE THE PART TO FIX MY CAR. ON TOP OF THAT THEY GAVE ME A PIECE OF MY CAR THAT APPARENTLY FELL OFF, WHILE THEY WERE INSPECTING IT??!!?? THEY TOLD ME IT WAS NOT THEIR FAULT AND THAT IT IS A FAULTY PIECE CALLED THE HOUSING WHICH IS PART OF THE INLET HOUSING AND THAT IT WOULD COST $1,156.38 TO FIX. UNBELIEVABLE! *TR
WHILE DRIVING ALONG A SECONDARY ROAD AT NIGHT, THE HEAD LIGHTS AND DASHBOARD LIGHTS WENT OFF SUDDENLY WITH OUT WARNING FLICKERING ON AND OFF SEVERAL TIMES BEFORE COMING BACK ON.THIS HAS REPEATED IT SELF SEVERAL TIMES. *TR
DASH LIGHTS AND GAUGES BEGAN FLICKERING AND ON / OFF. EVENTUALLY OVER A PERIOD OF MONTHS, ALL VEHICLE LIGHTS BEGAN OCCASIONAL GOING ON AND OFF COMPLETELY. THIS INCLUDED HEAD LIGHTS, TAIL LIGHTS, DASH LIGHTS. BEGAN DOING THIS MORE AND MORE OFTEN. DO A LOT OF MECHANICAL WORK MYSELF. SAW THAT THIS WAS A FAIRLY COMMON PROBLEM WITH JEEPS AS REPORTED ON THE INTERNET. CAUSE WAS A FAULTY LIGHT CONTROL SWITCH ON THE STEERING COLUMN. BOUGHT A NEW CONTROL ARM/SWITCH FOR ABOUT $130. AND INSTALLED IT MYSELF. PROBLEM APPEARS TO BE REPAIRED NOW. SHOULD BE A SAFETY RECALL FOR THESE SWITCHES IN LOSING ALL INSIDE AND OUTSIDE LIGHTS WHILE DRIVING AT NIGHT. HAVE CHECKED AROUND AND DO NOT SEE ANY RECALL AS OF YET FOR THIS PROBLEM.
DRIVING TO WORK AT AN INTERSECTION. IN THE MIDST OF TURNING LEFT ON TO THE ROAD TO MY WORK PARKING LOT... MY CAR STALLED ON ME. AGAIN, I WAS IN AN INTERSECTION WITH ON COMING TRAFFIC. NO LIGHTS CAME ON (WARNING LITES) NO WEIRD SOUNDS , NO JERKING - JUST STALLED. STARTED BACK UP ONCE I TURNED THE KEY OFF AND THEN ON AGAIN. *TR

THE LIGHTS ON MY 2006 JEEP COMMANDER AC/HEAT PANEL WILL NOT LIGHT UP SINCE 2011. ALSO MY STEREO LIGHTS, HEAD LIGHTS AND SPEEDOMETER LIGHTS AND OTHER INSTRUMENT LIGHT FLICKER RANDOMLY. THE FAILURE RESURFACED AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. SHE IS IN THE PROCESS OF HAVING THE VEHICLE INSPECTED AND REPAIRED BY THE DEALER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 55000. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 63000.

THE INTERIOR LIGHTS COMPLETELY FAILED AND WOULD FLASH WHEN THE DOOR WAS AJAR. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INSPECTED BY A DEALER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 39,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 40,300.
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THE HEADLIGHTS WERE TOO HIGH, AND FOCUSED TOO HIGH AND TOO FAR TO THE LEFT. WHILE STOPPED AT A STOP SIGN, A POLICE OFFICER PULLED THE CONTACT OVER, AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT IT WAS ILLEGAL TO DRIVE WITH THE HIGH BEAMS ON WHILE FACING TRAFFIC. THE CONTACT INFORMED THE OFFICER THAT THE LIGHTS WERE THE LOW BEAMS, AND PROCEEDED TO DEMONSTRATE THE BRIGHTNESS OF THE HIGH BEAMS. THE OFFICER THEN INSTRUCTED THE CONTACT TO HAVE A DEALERSHIP ADJUST THE HEADLIGHTS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A SERVICE DEALER, WHO INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE HEADLIGHTS WERE NOT ADJUSTABLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED, WHO WAS ALSO UNABLE TO PROVIDE ANY ASSISTANCE. UPDATED 12/1/2006 - THE CONSUMER TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER WHO INSISTED THAT THE HEADLIGHTS ON THE COMMANDER WERE NOT ADJUSTABLE. THE CONSUMER TOOK THE VEHICLE TO AN INDEPENDENT REPAIR FACILITY WHO WAS ABLE TO ADJUST THE LIGHTS. *NM
TURN SIGNALS HAVE 4 MODES RIGHT TURN OR LEFT TURN - MOVING SWITCH "FULLY-UP" OR "FULLY-DOWN" LOCKS IT INTO A "RIGHT" OR "LEFT" MODE UNTIL CANCELLED RIGHT LANE CHANGE OR LEFT LANE CHANGE - MOVING THE SWITCH "PARTIALLY-UP" OR "PARTIALLY-DOWN" AGAINST A DETENT SIGNALS A LANE CHANGE TO THE "RIGHT" OR "LEFT" THAT IS IMMEDIATELY CANCELLED UPON RELEASE CONDITIONS EXIST WHERE THE LEFT LANE CHANGE MODE DOES NOT ACTIVATE. THIS WAS REPORTED AND THE CONDITIONS TO DUPLICATE THE SITUATION WERE DEMONSTRATED. THE DEALER AGREED THAT THE SWITCH SHOULD NOT BEHAVE IN THE MANNER DEMONSTRATED AND ATTEMPTED TO REPAIR THE ISSUE BY REPLACING THE SWITCH. ON DELIVERY, THE TURN SIGNAL STILL MALFUNCTIONED UNDER THE SAME CONDITIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS AGAIN TAKEN TO THE SAME DEALER A SECOND TIME. THE DEALER RESEARCHED THE ISSUE BY RECREATING THE CONDITIONS ON OTHER VEHICLES ON THE LOT AND DETERMINED THAT THE CONDITION IS INTRINSIC TO THE DESIGN OF THE SWITCH AND RELATES A DESIGN FAULT IN THE SWITCH AND NOT A BAD PART. ONE GENERALLY ACTIVATES THE SIGNAL WITH ONES HANDS STILL ON THE STEERING WHEEL. THEREFORE, PUSHING DOWN TO ACTIVATE THE LEFT LANE CHANGE MODE, AS APPLIED WITH THE INDEX OR MIDDLE FINGER, CREATES BOTH A "DOWNWARD" AND "FORWARD" FORCE ON THE STALK DUE TO THE ANGLE OF APPLICATION. WHEN APPLIED, THAT IS A "DOWNWARD" FORCE TO ACTIVATE THE LEFT LANE CHANGE SIGNAL MODE ALONG WITH A "FORWARD" FORCE AS ONE WOULD EXPECT BASED ON THE ANGLE OF APPLICATION, THE LEFT LANE CHANGE SIGNAL MODE FAILS THE OPERATE BECAUSE THE CONTACT IN THE TURN SIGNAL SWITCH LIFTS OFF ITS MATING CONTACT AND OPENS THE CIRCUIT. I HAVE GONE THROUGH THE MOTIONS TO ACTIVATE THE LEFT LANE CHANGE SIGNAL MODE, THINKING THAT IT HAD ACTIVATED, ONLY TO FIND THAT THE SIGNAL DID NOT OPERATE AS IT SHOULD HAVE. THIS POSES A SAFETY HAZARD AS OTHER MOTORISTS ARE NOT ALERTED TO MY INTENTIONS AND MAY NOT COMPENSATE FOR MY INTENDED LANE CHANGE AND ALSO SUBJECTS ME TO A VIOLATION OF MY STATE VEHICLE CODE. *JB
