THE SKID PLATE BELOW THE GAS TANK COMPLETELY RUSTED AWAY. THE SKID PLATE IS THE ONLY THING HOLDING THE GAS TANK SECURE TO THE JEEP. THERE ARE NO OTHER RETAINING STRAPS. I NOTICED THE PROBLEM BEFORE THE GAS TANK WAS ABLE TO DROP AND SECURED IT WITH RUBBER STRAPS UNTIL I COULD GET IT REPAIRED. THE JEEP COULD NOT BE DRIVEN. A FULL TANK OF GAS COULD HAVE CAUSED THE TANK TO DROP THROUGH THE RUSTED SKID PLATE. THE JEEP ALSO HAS SKID PLATES BELOW THE FRONT AND MID DRIVE COMPONENTS. THEY HAVE NOT RUSTED AT ALL. THERE IS NO RUST ON THE JEEP ANYWHERE ELSE. I HAVE PHOTOS OF THE RUSTED COMPONENT WHILE IN PLACE AND AFTER IT WAS REMOVED AND REPLACED. I CHECKED WITH MY LOCAL JEEP DEALER AND THEY WERE UNAWARE OF A PROBLEM.
THE CAR TURN OFF ARE STALL WHILE DRIVING. NORMALLY OCCURS WHEN FOOT IS SLIGHT ON THE PEDDLE HOWEVER ALSO ATTEMPTS TO STALL AT HIGH SPEEDS. A REVIEW OF THE INTERNET SHOWS THAT THIS LIFE THREATENING PROBLEM IS A FREQUENT EXPERIENCE AND A LONG TERM REPORTED PROBLEM. I AM HAPPY TO PROVIDE THIS INFORMATION UPON REQUEST. DOES THERE NEED TO BE A LOSE OF LIFE TO OBTAIN RELIEF OF THIS ISSUE. IS THIS ISSUE A RESULT OF DEMANDS BY THE EPA TO HAVE THESE CARS RUN AT AN IDEAL SPEED THAT IS TOO LOW? IS THE EPA ALSO THE REASON FOR THIS PROBLEM? LIVES ARE AT RISK WITH NO ACTION BEING TAKEN TO PROTECT CONSUMERS. *TR
DOESN'T ACCELERATE SOMETIMES." SERVICE PARK ASSIST SYSTEM " APPEARS ON THE PANEL. I'VE HAD THE OXYGEN SENSOR REPLACES AND STILL HAVE THE SAME PROBLEMS FROM TIME TO TIME. I PULL INTO TRAFFIC AND IT WON'T GO. THIS COULD VERY WELL DO HARM TO MY FAMILY IN THE VEHICLE. I'M WORRIED! *TR
VEHICLE WAS LEAVING A STOP SIGN ENTERING A FEEDER ROAD WITH 50 MPH SPEED LIMIT. UPON ACCELERATING, THE VEHICLE LUNGED, AND DIED. IT RESTARTED AND WAS DRIVEN TO IT'S ORIGINAL DESTINATION. WE CALLED CHRYSLER AFTER SHE RETURNED HOME AND THEY TOLD US TO TAKE IT TO A DEALERSHIP FOR A DIAGNOSTICS. DEALERSHIP SAYS IT IS NOT COVERED BY ANY RECALL AND THAT THE THROTTLE BODY NEEDS CLEANING FOR $250. (A $2 CAN OF CLEANER). THIS SAME VEHICLE STALLED TWICE IN THE SAME TRIP ONE WEEK EARLIER BUT I CONSIDERED IT AS PART OF THE COLD WEATHER. AFTER READING ALL OF THIS, THEY HAVE AN ISSUE WITH THE 2007 HEMI'S AND HAVE NOT FESSED UP TO IT.
WHEN CAR IS DRIVEN AT FREEWAY SPEEDS AND YOU EXIT AND SLOW DOWN THE ENGINE WILL STALL AND THEN START BACK UP ITSELF. THE CAR IS A 2007 JEEP COMMANDER WITH THE 5.7L ENGINE. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 JEEP COMMANDER 4X4. ON SEPTEMBER 10, 2007, WHILE DRIVING 70 MPH, THE VEHICLE SHUT OFF WITHOUT WARNING. THE CRUISE CONTROL WAS ENGAGED AT THE TIME OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT SHE WAS DECELERATING AND THE WHEELS AND BRAKES LOCKED UP SIMULTANEOUSLY. THE VEHICLE RESTARTED APPROXIMATELY 15 MINUTES LATER. ANOTHER FAILURE OCCURRED WHEN SHE PLACED THE VEHICLE IN REVERSE. SHE STATED THAT THE VEHICLE FAILED TO MOVE WHILE THE GEAR WAS IN REVERSE. SHE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND THEY STATED THAT THE FUEL PUMP FAILED. THE VEHICLE IS CURRENTLY BEING REPAIRED AT THE DEALER. THE CONTACT ONLY HAD THE VEHICLE FOR THIRTY DAYS BEFORE THE FAILURES BEGAN. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 2,436. UPDATED 09/26/07 *TR
