The contact stated that he shifted from drive (D) to park (P) and from park to neutral (N) and then drive (D) several times until the vehicle responded as needed. The contact stated that the failure recurred several times while driving. The vehicle was taken to two transmission specialists, where it was diagnosed that the transmission needed to be rebuilt. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken back to the transmission specialist, where it was diagnosed that the transfer case was unintendedly shifting into neutral(N), and the failure was related to NHTSA Campaign Number: 13V175000 (Power Train, Electrical System). The vehicle was not repaired. The dealer and the manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 175,000.
Was driving cars engine started shaking was stalling losing power in the middel of the road engine light came on we barely male the car home it was stalling out happend only less than 5 miles from home put code reader on vehicle had 5 codes one was Power train and other spark plug ect going out dealer ship they had it towed the tow truck driver couldn't get the 2 front tires to move took him 2 hrs finally he told me he had to remove my drive shaft to tow it the dealer ship cleared the codes told me nothing is wrong with the vehicle and I have to come get it and drive it home 1 hr 30 min from there I am not willing to do that it's unsafe also they sold it to me with broken seat belts and a water leak that flood in entire front of the car so now my car is sitting there and I have no help on this.they refuse to fix anything except the seat belts and won't tow it back to me.

I HAVE HAD A PROBLEM WITH TRANSMISSION OVER TEMP CAR WILL NOT START HAVE TO LET SIT FOR 20 TO 30 MINS
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 JEEP COMMANDER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE FAILURE RECURRED WHILE THE ENGINE WAS IDLING AND AT AFTER START-UP ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO BOSAK JEEP (3111 W. LINCOLN HWY MERRILLVILLE, IN 46410) AND AN UNKNOWN RELAY SWITCH WAS REPLACED HOWEVER, THE FAILURE CONTINUED. THE MECHANIC THEN INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE CRANKSHAFT SENSOR, CAMSHAFT SENSOR, AND POWER TRAIN CONTROL MODULE WERE DEFECTIVE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 133,700.

THE IGNITION SWITCH WAS REPLACED, BUT THE GEAR SHIFTER WAS NOT. THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE CONTACT REFERENCED NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 13V175000 (POWER TRAIN, ELECTRICAL SYSTEM) AS THE POSSIBLE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. TAKATA RECALL I WAS DRIVING ALONG AS NORMAL ON THE CITY STREET WITH MINIMAL AND MY VEHICLE CUT OFF ON ITS OWN. IT WILL NOT TURN OVER OR EVEN TRY TO TURN OVER.

OUR 2007 JEEP COMMANDER HAS HAD A RECURRING ISSUE FOR OVER A YEAR WHILE IN OPERATION WHETHER IN MOTION OR STATIONARY, VEHICLE WILL SHUT OFF RANDOMLY. WHEN YOU ATTEMPT TO RESTART THE VEHICLE, IT STARTS RIGHT BACK UP AGAIN. THE RANDOM VEHICLE SHUTDOWNS TAKE PLACE IN ALL DRIVING CONDITIONS AND REGARDLESS OF UPHILL OR DOWNHILL DRIVING. BROUGHT THE JEEP COMMANDER TO THE JEEP DEALERSHIP AND THEY REPLACED THE IGNITION SWITCH AS PART OF A RECALL. THIS DID NOT RESOLVE THE PROBLEM AT ALL AND THE DEALERSHIP WAS UNABLE TO FIGURE OUT CAUSES FOR RANDOM STALLING EVEN WHEN THE COMMANDER FAILED DURING TESTING WITH TECHNICIANS. I REPLACED VIRTUALLY EVERY SENSOR I COULD IMAGINE INCLUDING, THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR AND IDLE AIR CONTROL SENSOR, EGR, MAP SENSOR, AIR INTAKE SENSOR AND THE PCM. NO LUCK, WE HAVE THE SAME RANDOM STALLING AND THE PROCEDURE IS, RESTART THE VEHICLE IN NEUTRAL FOR RECOVERY WHILE IN MOTION. THE RESTART DOES NOT FAIL, BUT THE RANDOM STALLING CONTINUES SOMETIMES FIVE OR SIX TIMES ON A 100 MILE TRIP. THIS IS DANGEROUS AND CAN GET SOMEONE OR THEIR FAMILY KILLED.
DRIVING STRAIGHT AHEAD AT APPROXIMATELY 70 MPH ON A TURNPIKE THE ENGINE AND ALL POWER IMMEDIATELY AND INSTANTLY SHUT OFF. VEHICLE HAS APPROXIMATELY 110,300 MILES ON THE ODOMETER. QUITE A SCARY CIRCUMSTANCE. AS I WAS PULLING OFF THE MAIN FREEWAY TO THE SHOULDER, I TURNED THE IGNITION TO START AND THE ENGINE IMMEDIATELY STARTED, SEEMED TO RUN FINE, AND I PROCEEDED ON AS IF NOTHING HAD HAPPENED. NO ERROR OR WARNING LIGHTS WERE ON THE DASH. 5.7L HEMI ENGINE. THIS COULD HAVE RESULTED IN A VERY BAD ACCIDENT.
WHILE DRIVING AT SLOW SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE STALLS OUT, OBVIOUSLY RESULTING IN A LOSS OF POWER STEERING & BRAKES. THIS HAS HAPPENED 50+/- TIMES OVER THE LAST 2 YEARS OF MY OWNERSHIP. THE PROBLEM HAS INTENSIFIED OVER THE LAST 2 WEEKS, BUT WOULD ALWAYS RE START AFTER SHIFTING INTO PARK. LAST NIGHT (10/8/2017) IT HAPPENED AGAIN. THIS TIME WHILE MERGING ONTO A HIGHWAY AT 55 MPH. THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY LOST POWER AS I COASTED TO THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY. THIS TIME IT WOULD NOT START & I HAD TO HAVE THE VEHICLE TOWED. THROUGH ON-LINE RESEARCH, THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM ON THE JEEP COMMANDER (4.7L) DATING BACK TO WHEN THE VEHICLES WERE NEW. THE FIX FOR THE PROBLEM VARIES GREATLY. GIVEN THE TIMELINE FOR THIS PROBLEM, ITS OBVIOUS THIS IS A PROBLEM THAT DAIMLER CHRYSLER (NOW FIAT CHRYSLER USA) IS AWARE OF & MAKES NO ATTEMPT AT A SOLUTION.
LIKE COUNTLESS OTHER OWNERS OF THIS VEHICLE FORM YEARS 2006-2007, THE "TRANSMISSION OVER TEMPERATURE" LIGHT HAS BEEN GOING ON AND OFF FOR YEARS. I'VE SPEND OVER $1500 ON REPAIR FOR ALL THINGS SURROUNDING THE TRANSMISSION, ONLY FOR THE LIGHT TO CONTINUE TO COME ON. SOME PEOPLE HAVE EVEN NOTED THAT THEY WERE STRANDED FOR HOURS DUE TO THIS - IT'S OBVIOUSLY NOT JUST ONE PERSON'S EXPERIENCE WITH THE CAR, AND A QUICK GLANCE ONLINE WILL SHOW THE DEPTHS OF ISSUES PEOPLE ARE HAVING WITH THE TRANSMISSION AND THE LIGHT ON THIS VEHICLE.

AFTER READING ALL THE SIMILAR COMPLAINTS ONLINE IT SEEMS THE ISSUE MAY BE WITH THE SHIFT MODULE. WITH SO MANY COMPLAINTS IT WOULD BE NICE IF THIS COULD BE A RECALL AND CORRECTED.
MY VEHICLE WOULD NO LONGER ACCELERATE IN TRAFFIC CAUSING ME TO ALMOST GET HIT IN THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE. I COULD DO NOTHING BUT COAST AND BRAKE. JEEP COMPLAINT CASE # 31436177. I AM HAVING A NO CRANK NO START ISSUE WITH BOGUS ERROR MESSAGE THAT READS TRANSMISSION OVER TEMP. I HAVE TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO THREE DIFFERENT PLACES AND NO ONE CAN IDENTIFY WHY THE VEHICLE WILL NOT START OR FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH THE TRANSMISSION OR WIRING....... THAT IS CAUSING THIS ISSUE. THE JEEP STARTED HAVING THIS ISSUE INTERMITTENTLY IN FEBRUARY 2017 AND NOW IT WILL NOT START AT ALL AS OF APRIL 2017. ELECTRICAL MECHANIC IS BAFFLED AND CAN NOT FIND ANY THING WRONG WITH THE JEEP EVEN THOUGH IT DOES NOT START AT ALL ANYMORE. SINCE FEBRUARY 2017 AFTER THIS ISSUE STARTED I HAVE HAD THE COMPUTER UPDATED TO FIX THE PROBLEM, I HAVE HAD THE IGNITION SWITCH REPLACED TO SOLVE THIS PROBLEM, I HAVE HAD THE TRANSMISSION COOLER LINES AND TRANSMISSION FLUID CHANGED OUT TO FIX THIS PROBLEM AND STILL THE VEHICLE WILL NOT START INTERMITTENTLY AND NOW WILL NOT START AT ALL AS OF A WEEK AND A HALF AGO. I WAS ALSO TOLD THAT IT MIGHT BE THE KEY NOT BEING RECOGNIZED BY THE JEEP AND WOULD NEED TO BE REPROGRAMMED BUT THIS IS NOT THE ISSUE EITHER. THIS IS NOT THE FIRST ISSUE I HAVE HAD WITH THIS VEHICLE EITHER. I ALSO HAD THE WIRING HARNESS CATCH FIRE INSIDE THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR BOOT SHORTLY AFTER PURCHASING THE VEHICLE THAT CAUSED WINDOWS, LOCKS....... NOT TO FUNCTION AND HAVE HAD NUMEROUS ISSUES WITH WATER POURING IN FROM DRAINS FROM THE SUNROOF FLOODING THE VEHICLE AND RUINING THE CARPET ON BOTH THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE OF THE VEHICLE ALSO CAUSING A MOLD SMELL.

THE U-JOINTS ARE WORN AND THERE IS NO REPLACEMENT JOINTS. IT IS A DEALER ITEM AND NEED TO GET A NEW DRIVE SHAFT FOR THE FRONT AND REAR ON A 4X4 JEEP COMMANDER.YOU NOTICE THE VIBRATION ON THE STEERING WHEEL IN DIFFERENT SPEEDS DUE TO THE BAD U-JOINTS.
