EVERY TIME I GET GAS, THE LIBERTY CANNOT TELL WHEN TO STOP THE PUMP FROM PUMPING GAS. GAS ENDS UP OVERFLOWING DOWN THE SIDE OF THE CAR, ON THE GROUND AND EVEN SOMETIMES ON ME. THIS IS A DANGEROUS SITUATION.

I HAVE MY BROTHER'S 2005 JEEP LIBERTY WITH LESS THAN 100,000 MILES. IT IS A VERY IMPORTANT VEHICLE TO ME AS HE PASSED FROM CANCER. TO DATE I HAVE FILLED THE CAR 3X AND EVERY TIME I GET A GAS GUSHER COMING OUT OF THE TANK. THE LAST TIME I WAS EXTRA CAREFUL AND STILL ENDED UP GETTING GAS ALL OVER THE CAR AND MYSELF. NOW I TRY TO ESTIMATE GALLONS SO IT DOESN'T SPRAY OUT AND I STAND OFF TO THE SIDE. 600.00 IS A LOT OF MONEY TO SPEND FOR A NEW FUEL NECK REPLACEMENT. OBVIOUSLY NOT EVERYONE IS REPORTING THIS AS THEY ARE TRYING TO FIX IT THEMSELVES. TRY GOOGLING THIS ON THE INTERNET. THIS IS NOT A SAFE SITUATION, ALTHOUGH GAS ON THE OUTSIDE DISSIPATES QUITE QUICKLY. ONE SPARK AND THE GAS STATION COULD BE TOAST. I AM VERY LEERY OF CHRYSLER & DODGE GAS TANKS, THANKFULLY MY MAGNUM WHICH STARTED ACTING UP HAD A LIFETIME WARRANTY ON THE FUEL TANK, WHICH DODGE IS NOT VERY QUICK TO POINT OUT. MY MAGNUM JUST STARTED DYING AFTER IT WAS FILLED UP, FIXED NOW I HOPE. HOPING YOU CAN COME UP WITH A RE-CALL FOR THESE JEEPS. VERY DISAPPOINTED IN THE FUELING UP ISSUES.
WHILE FILLING UP THE GAS TANK, THE PUMP AUTOMATIC SHUT OFF IS TRIGGERED SEVERAL TIMES BEFORE THE TANK IS FULL AND AS A RESULT, GAS ENDS UP SPEWING BACK OUT OF THE TANK RUNS DOWN THE SIDE OF THE VEHICLE TO THE GROUND CREATING A POTENTIAL FIRE HAZARD. IT SEEMS LIKE THE GAS TANK IS UNABLE TO VENT THE AIR OUT QUICKLY ENOUGH SO THE GAS COMES BACK OUT OF THE TANK FILL TUBE.
MY CAR IS ALWAYS OVERFLOWING GAS WHEN I COMPLETE THE FUEL TANK.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 JEEP LIBERTY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ODOR OF FUEL WAS PRESENT INSIDE AND OUTSIDE OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE ODOR WAS CAUSED BY A FUEL LEAK COMING FROM THE FUEL PRESSURE VALVE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER AND LOCAL DEALER WERE NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 123,000.
GAS TANK OVERFLOWS WHEN FILLING UP GAS.
EVERY TIME THE VEHICLE IS REFUELED, IT DOES NOT SHUT OFF AS IT SHOULD AND GAS POURS OUT AND ALL OVER THE GROUND AND DOWN THE SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. SEVERAL TIMES IT HAS BEEN SO BAD THAT EMPLOYEES OF THE GAS STATION HAD TO INTERVENE. THIS IS A FIRE HAZARD, AS WELL AS A ENVIRONMENTAL PROBLEM.
FUEL SPILLS FROM TANK DURING FILL UP. I BOUGHT THIS CAR USED AND THE PAINT IS DAMAGED FROM THE PREVIOUS SPILLS THAT HAVE OCCURRED. IT IS EVIDENT THIS HAS BEEN A LONG STANDING ISSUE WITH THIS VEHICLE.
WHEN FUELING VEHICLE AS IT FINISHES FILLING THE GAS TANK IT WILL SPEW GAS OUT AND OVER THE SIDE OF THE VEHICLE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 JEEP LIBERTY. AFTER PLACING FUEL IN THE VEHICLE, FUEL SPILLED OUT. THE DEALER DIAGNOSED THAT THE FUEL TANK NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 31,000.
MY GAS OVERFLOW EVERY TIME I FILL UP MY TANK. THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING FOR A FEW YEARS AND I CONTACTED JEEP AND WAS TOLD THEY WOULD NOT DO ANYTHING. THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD AND COULD CAUSE A FIRE AND SOMETHING SHOULD BE DONE I HAVE SPOKEN TO SEVERAL JEEP OWNERS WITH THIS MODEL AND THEY ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM.
NHTSA RECALL NUMBER 13V-252. CHRYSLER/JEEP HAS NEVER CONTACTED ME IN REFERENCE TO THIS RECALL. WHICH SEEMS TO BE VERY SERIOUS SINCE IT APPEARS PASSENGERS IN MY VEHICLE AND MYSELF COULD BE KILLED DUE TO THIS DEFECT. ANOTHER EXAMPLE OF JEEP NOT CARING ABOUT THEIR CUSTOMERS. ONCE THEY GET THEIR MONEY THEY DON'T KNOW YOU. I AM THE ONLY OWNER OF THE VEHICLE AND I HAVE NOT MOVED SO THERE IS NO EXCUSE FOR NOT CONTACTING ME. I AM SURE THEY WILL LIE AND SAY THEY DID. IF THEY HAD I WOULD HAVE HAD THE WORK DONE SINCE IT INVOLVES LIFE AND DEATH. ALL ABOUT THE BOTTOM LINE AND NOT CARING ABOUT PEOPLE. I WOULD PREFER THEY SEND ME THE MATERIALS TO REPAIR THE PROBLEM AND I WILL HAVE MY MECHANIC TAKE CARE OF THE ISSUE. WHEN I HAD JEEP REPAIR A DEFECTIVE WINDOW REGULATOR NOW THAT DOOR DOES NOT WORK. FUEL OVERFLOWS GAS TANK EVERY TIME VEHICLE IS FILLED WITH FUEL
EVERY TIME THE GAS TANK IS FILLED, GASOLINE OVERFLOWS BEFORE THE AUTOMATIC FUELING NOZZLE SHUTOFF ACTIVATES. FUEL RUNS DOWN THE SIDE OF THE VEHICLE AND ONTO THE GROUND.
WHILE DISPENSING FUEL INTO THE VEHICLE AT A FILLING STATION THE FUEL GUSHES FROM THE FILL PORT PRIOR TO THE TANK BEING FULL. THE FUEL CONTINUES TO COME OUT FOR A FEW SECOND AFTER THE FUEL DISPENSING IS STOPPED. THIS IS COMPLETELY UN SAFE, WASTEFUL AND CREATES AN EMISSIONS ISSUE AT EVERY FILL UP.
THE CAR DOES NOT SHUT OFF FUELING WHEN THE GAS TANK IS FULL, CAUSING A LARGE AMOUNT OF GAS TO SPEW OUT OF THE CAR WHEN FILLING GAS EVERY TIME. CAUSES GASOLINE TO GO EVERYWHERE, IS A FIRE HAZARD. (IT IS NOT JUST A LITTLE BIT OF GAS, THE CAR IS TURNED OFF, AT THE GAS PUMP AND AT THE GAS STATION.)

THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED SEVERAL TIMES AFTERWARDS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE DEALER STATED THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS FOR THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 91,935.
