GASOLINE SPLASH BACK WHEN FILLING GAS TANK. THE JEEP WAS IN PARK AND LEVEL. GASOLINE BURPED OUT OF FUEL FILLER TANK TUBE. ALL OVER THE JEEP AND GROUND. THIS HAPPENS EVERY TIME I FILL THE TANK. ALSO GETS ON CLOTHES.
2008 JEEP WRANGLER HAS HAD SEVERAL ISSUES WITH TIPM. WIPERS WILL COME ON, HORN WILL SOUND, WASHER FLUID SPRAYS, AND TRANSMISSION WILL NOT SHIFT (WHEN THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION AND THIS HAPPENS) INTERMITTENTLY AND WILL SOMETIMES CREATE A NO CRANK/NO START CONDITION AFTER THE MALFUNCTION HAPPENS WHILE THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION AND HAS BEEN SHUT OFF. DEFECT HAS BEEN TRACED BACK TO TIPM AND TIPM WAS REPLACED WITH AN AFTERMARKET REMANUFACTURED TIPM. PROBLEM RESOLVED AND NOW HAS REAPPEARED WITH ADDITIONAL SYMPTOMS, SUCH AS WHEN VEHICLE IS PUT IN REVERSE WIPERS WILL GO OFF AND ENGINE WILL REV TO HIGHER RPMS THAN NECESSARY TO ALLOW FOR ACCELERATION. THE TIPM DEFECT CREATES A SIGNIFICANT SAFETY HAZARD WHEN IT INTERFERES WITH THE SHIFTING, ACCELERATION OF VEHICLE. MOST RECENT ISSUE WAS 11/09/2020; ISSUE HAS BEEN ONGOING SINCE 06/2019.
THE DASHBLIGHTS STARTED ACTING POSSESSED WHILE DRIVING AND WINSHIELD WHIPERA CAME ON WITHOUT BEING ACTIVATED BY SWITCH. NOW THE GUAGES ARE STUCK STRAIGHT UP AND IT WONT SHIFT OUT OF PARK..THE RADIO AND WINDOWS STILL WORK AND THE LIGHTS CONE ON WITHOUT BEING TURNED ON.
EVERY TIME I FILL UP MY GAS TANK, NO MATTER WHAT GAS STATION, I ALWAYS GET ABOUT A CUP OF GAS THAT SPITS BACK OUT OF THE FILLER PORT. THE NOZZLE ALWAYS CLICKS OFF BUT THE GAS JUST KEEPS COMING.
WHEN I FILL UP THE VEHICLE, GAS FLOWS BACKWARDS OUT OF THE FILLER NECK AND POURS DOWN THE SIDE OF THE VEHICLE ONTO THE GROUND. THE FUEL ALSO SPLASHES ONTO ME AS WELL. I HAVE THE VEHICLE COMPLETELY OFF KEYS OUT OF THE IGNITION AND IN PARK.
WHEN FUELING IT OVERFLOWS INSTEAD OF STOPPING.
OVER THE PAST FOUR MONTHS MY JEEP HAS HAD STARTING ISSUES. EVERYTHING IS RUNNING FINE, GO OUTSIDE AND IT WON'T CRANK. SOMETIMES IT WILL TURN OVER OTHER TIMES, NOTHING AT ALL. I'VE HAD IT TOWED, PURCHASED A NEW BATTERY, HAD THE STARTER, ALTERNATOR, ETC. CHECKED AND ALL GOOD. JEEP RUNS GOOD FOR A COUPLE WEEKS AND THEN AGAIN THIS MORNING I'M STRANDED. THIS IS GETTING OLD!
DRIVING DOWN THE FREEWAY AND OUT OF NOWHERE THE JEEP STARTED TO DEATH WOBBLE UNTIL I SLOWED TO A STOP THAN WAS ABLE TO DRIVE AGAIN
WHEN FILLING UP WITH GAS AT THE GAS STATION EVEN IF I MANUALLY STOP THE GAS FLOW EARLY THE GAS OVERFLOWS OUT ON TO THE BUMPER AND GROUND. MAJOR GAS SPITBACK!
I WAS DRIVING DOWN A STATE HIGHWAY AT 40 MPH. WHEN MY HORN STARTED BLOWING, WINDSHIELD WIPER TURNED ON, LIGHTS FLASHING SO I HAD TO TURN ONTO A SIDE ROAD. MOTOR WAS STILL RUNNING SO I TURN IT OFF. THE ENGINE STOPPED BUT EVERYTHING ELSE REMAINED ON. HORN WAS STILL BLOWING, WIPERS ON...I DISCONNECTED THE HORN WIRES TO STOP THE HORN. I STARTED TO MOVE SOME WIRES THINKING THAT THERE MAY BE A SHORT SOMEWHERE. FINALLY EVERYTHING STOPPED BUT NOW MY CAR WOULDN'T START. I HAD TO GET IT TOWED. THROUGH SOME RESEARCH I FOUND IT TO BE THE TIPM ( TOTAL INTEGRATED POWER MODULE. IT HAS BEEN FINE SINCE I HAD IT REPLACED. FORTUNATELY THIS ALL TOOK PLACE DURING THE DAY IN GOOD WEATHER. HAD IT HAPPENED AT NIGHT OR IN THE WINTER SNOW OR IN SOME REMOTE AREA IT WOULD HAVE CAUSED A GREAT DEAL OF PAIN OR A DANGEROUS SITUATION. FROM WHAT I HAVE RESEARCHED MYSELF THIS IS NOT A ISOLATED INCIDENT. PLEASE REVIEW THIS INFORMATION. THANK YOU.
I'VE EXPERIENCED THE 'DEATH WOBBLE' AROUND SEVEN TIMES SINCE PURCHASING THE VEHICLE IN FEBRUARY OF LAST YEAR, MAINLY ON SECONDARY ROADS. I TOOK IT TO TWO LOCAL MECHANICS WHO FOUND NO ISSUES. IT HAD YET TO HAVE HAPPENED AT HIGH SPEEDS UNTIL YESTERDAY WHEN I WAS ON INTERSTATE 81 (WHICH I DRIVE DAILY-SPEED LIMIT 70) AND HIT THE BEGINNING OF A BRIDGE AND THE JEEP SHOOK SO VIOLENTLY THAT I HAD TO PULL INTO THE EMERGENCY LANE, BRING THE VEHICLE TO A COMPLETE STOP, AND TURN MY HAZARD LIGHTS ON. I AM AFRAID TO DRIVE IT AT THIS POINT. I FEAR NOT ONLY MY SAFETY, BUT THE SAFETY OF OTHER DRIVERS ON THE ROAD AROUND ME. I HAVE READ ONLINE THAT THIS IS COMMON AND WAS CONSIDERED TO BE A MANUFACTURING FAULT AND THAT RECALLS WERE BEING ISSUED, BUT WHEN I SEARCHED MY VIN NUMBER, NO RECALLS WERE FOUND.
LIGHTS FLASH ON AND OFF, DOORS LOCK AND UNLOCK WHILE VEHICLE IS PARKED AND NOT RUNNING, KEYS ARE NO WHERE NEAR VEHICLE. BATTERY COMPLETELY DEAD. REPLACED BATTERY. NOT MADE AWARE OF TIPM ISSUE. NEW BATTERY COMPLETELY DRAINED. HAD TOWED TO MECHANIC. STARTER, ALTERNATOR, TRANSMISSION, ETC ALL CHECKED AND NO ISSUES. HAD TO DROVE SEVERAL HOURS TO DEALERSHIP TO CONFIRM/FIX TIPM.

HOT OIL WARNING STARTED FLASHING AND DINGING. WAS DIAGNOSED WITH A TRANSMISSION ISSUE. SOME ONLINE SEARCHES INDICATED THAT SOMETIMES ITS JUST A BAD SENSOR BUT LOOKS LIKE THERE MAY BE A TRANSMISSION PROBLEM. I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN IT OCCURRED BUT THE TEMPERATURE GAUGE NEVER WENT ABOVE HALF WAY. *TR

WHEN FILLING UP AT THE GAS STATION, THE FUEL PUMP WILL KICK OFF AND A SECOND LATER GAS COMES FLYING OUT OF THE TANK AND HITS ME, MY JEEP AND GOES ALL OVER THE GROUND.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS THE DOORS LOCKED AND UNLOCKED INDEPENDENTLY, WITH THE HORN BLARING AND HEADLAMPS FLASHING WITH THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS ACTIVATED WITHOUT WARNING, OR DRIVER INPUT. THE CONTACT BECAME AWARE THAT THE FAILURE WAS DUE TO THE FAILURE OF THE TOTALLY INTEGRATED POWER MODULE (TIPM). THE CONTACT STATED THAT TO PREVENT THE FAILURE, THE NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE WAS DISCONNECTED WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO BE DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 115,000.
ALRIGHT I HAVE A 2008 JEEP WRANGLER SAHARA JK. AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION 2DOOR SOFT TOP. AND I HAVE NOTICED ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS WHEN THERE IS WET CONDITIONS ON ANY CURVY ROAD THAT WHEN SLOWING DOWN TO TAKE A CURVE TO THE RIGHT WITH THE TRACTION CONTROL ON THE TRANSMISSION WILL DOWN SHIFT AND CAUSE THE BACK TIRES TO SPIN AND LOSE TRACTION WHICH INTURN SENDS THE [XXX] END SIDEWAYS. AND IT DOES IT BOTH UP AND DOWN HILL AND PRETTY MUCH ONLY ON RIGHT TURNS THE PASSENGER SIDE WHICH PUTS THE DRIVER SIDE REAR END INTO THE ONCOMING TRAFFIC LANE A LITTLE. AND I TRULY BELIEVE IF IT WAS A YOUNG DRIVER OR ANYONE THAT HASN'T DROVE ANYTHING WILDLY BEFORE IN THERE LIFE IT COULD CAUSE A BAD ACCIDENT. BUT IF YOU TURN THE TRACTION CONTROL OFF IT DON'T DO IT IS BAD IF AT ALL. WHICH MAKES ME THINK IT'S WIRING OR THE COMPUTER AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM. I'VE HAD IT HAPPEN ON BACK ROADS AND MT ROADS EVEN TURN ON THE INTERSTATE RAMP. ANY ROAD WHERE YOU REMAIN IN MOTION WITH A DECENT CURVE TO THE RIGHT. ALOT ON THIS WINDING MT ROAD OVER THE RIDGE TO THE NEXT TOWN. IT'S CALLED JOPPA MOUNTAIN. AND IT SIDESTEPS WITH YOU THERE LIKE IT HAS ME QUITE A FEW TIMES, AND YOU ARE NOT ON YOUR GAME IT COULD GET REAL BAD REAL FAST BECAUSE THAT ROAD WINDS BACK AND FORTH ALL THE WAY UP AND BACK DOWN WITH STRAP DROP OFFS THAT YOU WOULD BE PRAYING FOR A TREE TO STOP YOU. ALWAYS WHEN TURNING RIGHT AND SLOWING DOWN WITH THE TRACTION CONTROL ON. I'VE HAD PEOPLE ALMOST HIT ME BECAUSE OF THIS!!..AGAIN, THIS IS A WELL KNOWN ISSUE AND NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED...AT FIRST I THOUGHT MAYBE IT WAS JUST ME....BUT AFTER DOING HOURS OF RESEARCH (HUNDREDS OF POSTS ABOUT THIS EXACT PROBLEM ON LINE) AND EVEN HAVING OTHER PEOPLE DRIVE MY VEHICLE, WE ALL AGREE SOMETHING IS WRONG..
VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY AT FUEL PUMP WITH THE FUEL TANK HALF FULL. BEGAN REFUELING AND HAD AN IMMEDIATE BACK SPLASH /SPEWING OF FUEL. ESTIMATE AT LEAST A HALF GALLON WAS SPILLED ONTO THE VEHICLE, THE GROUND AND ON MY PERSON.
I WAS DRIVING DOWN A BLACKTOP ROAD AND MY PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG DEPLOYED. THE AIRBAG WAS REPLACED IN NOV 2018. I NEVER HIT ANYTHING. MY INSURANCE COMPANY CAME OUT AND INVESTIGATED THE INCIDENT

TIPM PROBLEMS FROM THE RESEARCH I'VE DONE. CAR GOES HAYWIRE! HORN GOES ON RANDOMLY AND STAYS ON EVEN WHEN DRIVING! WIPERS GO ON AND OFF RANDOMLY EVEN WHEN I TRY TO USE THE WIPER SWITCH TO CONTROL IT, NOTHING HAPPENS. WIPER FLUID GOES ON AND OFF RANDOMLY EVEN WHEN NOT CONTROLLED BY SWITCH. DOORS LOCK AND UNLOCK RANDOMLY WHILE DRIVING EVEN WHEN NOT USING THE REMOTE. ALARM GOES OFF WHILE DRIVING WITH THE HORN. ALL DASHBOARD LIGHTS RANDOMLY FLASH ON AND OFF WHILE DRIVING. ALL THESE WEIRD EVENTS USUALLY OCCUR AT THE SAME TIME OR RANDOMLY BY THEMSELVES. MOSTLY HAPPENS WHEN DRIVING OR WHEN TRYING TO INITIALLY UNLOCK AND ENTER THE VEHICLE FOR USE.

WHEN DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AT ABOUT 60 MPH THE FRONTEND STARTED TO VIOLENTLY SHAKE UNCONTROLLABLY. I TOOK IT IN TO MY MECHANIC AND HE DID $1400.00 IN REPAIRS. IT SEEMED TO HELP BUT THEN 6 MONTHS LATTER IT STARTED AGAIN.I TOOK IT BACK TO THE MECHANIC THAT DID THE FIRST REPAIRS AND HE SAID HE COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG AT THIS TIME.

DEATH WOBBLE- HIT BUMP AND STEERING WHEEL SHAKES UNCONTROLLABLY ! EXTREMELY DANGEROUS. I HAVE REPLACED ALMOST ALL SUSPENSION COMPONENTS-$1600 AND IT HAS HAPPENED 4 MORE TIMES. THERE IS NOTHING THAT I CAN DO ONCE IT STARTS-ALMOST GOT RUN OVER BY A SEMI. IT HAPPENS TO ALLOT OF PEOPLE. CHECK THE INTERNET.
WITH NO WARNING WHILE DRIVING THE JEEP IT JUST SHUT OFF. NO STEERING, NO BRAKES. WOULDN'T START BACK UP AFTER. WE BROUGHT IT TO THE REPAIR SHOP AND THE MOTOR IS TOTALLY CEASED AND NEEDS A NEW MOTOR.
I AM EXPERIENCING A RECURRING ISSUE THAT APPEARS TO BE THE TOTALLY INTEGRATED POWER MODULE (TIPM). EVERY COUPLE OF MONTHS, THE ENTIRE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM GOES HAYWIRE, FOR ABOUT 3 MINUTES AND THEN IS FINE. IN RESEARCHING THIS, I AM FINDING THAT IT WAS A COMMON PROBLEM ON JEEP VEHICLES OF THAT TIME PERIOD. IT MOST RECENTLY OCCURRED TODAY, ALTHOUGH IT HAS HAPPENED FOR ABOUT THE LAST 2 YEARS, SINCE SHORTLY AFTER I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE.

WHEN GOING OVER 35 THE WHEEL STARTS TO WOBBLE LIKE THE DEALTH WOBBLE. HAS A LOT OF LACK IN STEERING WHEEL.. WHEN CONTROL CONTROL IS ON IT GOING TO 5 RPM AND SHIFTING FUNNY..
WHILE TRAVELING DOWN THE ROAD WHEN YOU SLOW TO TURN A SLIGHT CURVE AND PRESS BRAKES THE JEEP GOES INTO A UNCONTROLLABLE SHAKE IN THE ENTIRE FRONT END. YOU CAN NOT STOP IT BY APPLYING BRAKES BECAUSE IT MAKES IT WORSE. YOU HAVE NO CONTROL OF THE SHAKE AND IT EVEN SHAKES THE STEERING WHEEL AND WHOLE FRONT END OF THE JEEP. EVENTUALLY IT PULLS OUT OF IT AFTER SEVERAL FEET BUT YOU FEEL THE WHOLE FRONT END IS GONG TO COME OFF THE SHAKE IS THAT VIOLENT. I HAVE ALMOST WRECKED MY VEHICLE TRYING TO HOLD IT ON THE ROAD WHILE TURNING AND HAD OTHER CARS ALMOST PLOW ME FROM THE BACK. IT IS VERY SCAREY AND YOU HAVE NO WARNING WHEN IT IS GOING TO HAPPEN.

THE CONTACT DEPRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL MULTIPLE TIMES AND THE VEHICLE FINALLY CAME TO A STOP ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE CONTACT TURNED OFF THE VEHICLE AND WAITED AWHILE BEFORE DRIVING AGAIN. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HE CONTINUED TO EXPERIENCE THE FAILURE WHILE DRIVING SLOWLY BACK HOME. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO POMOCO CHRYSLER JEEP DODGE RAM OF NEWPORT NEWS (LOCATED AT 12629 JEFFERSON AVE, NEWPORT NEWS, VA 23602, (757) 369-3565), BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 122,460.
WHILE IN MOTION DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AND ON A CITY STREET CAR SUDDENLY DIES, NO POWER STEERING, LIGHTS FLASHING, HORN BLARING, WINDSHIELD WIPERS AND FLUID ARE ACTIVATED AND DOORS LOCK AND UNLOCK. MECHANIC INFORMS ME IT IS TIPM ISSUE WITH 2007-2011 JEEPS/CHRYSLERS/DODGES. I INVESTIGATED ONLINE AND JEEP FORUMS ETC. SUPPORT THIS AND YET JEEP REFUSES TO ACCEPT ACCOUNTABILITY- AS SOMEONE WHO HAS NEARLY WRECKED ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS, I IMPLORE YOU ADDRESS THIS OR SOMEONE IS GOING TO DIE, BECAUSE JEEP CONTINUES TO IGNORE THIS PROBLEM!!! THIS ALSO HAPPENS IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT WHEN THE CAR IS PARKED STATIONARY AND ISN'T EVEN ON- I HAVE WOKEN IN A PANIC SEVERAL TIMES BY WHAT I THINK IS MY CAR ALARM GOING OFF, TO FIND THE HORN BLARING, BLOWER MOTOR, FLASHERS, INTERIOR LIGHTS, AND THE WIPERS GOING ON AND OFF. ALSO, WHILE DRIVING AT NIGHT, THE LIGHTS SUDDENLY GO OUT. ONCE AGAIN I URGE YOU TO INVESTIGATE THIS DANGEROUS PROBLEM, BECAUSE THIS WILL CAUSE A SERIOUS ACCIDENT, OR WORSE IF THESE ISSUES ARE NOT RESOLVED! *THESE INCIDENTS HAVE HAPPENED ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS, BUT THE MOST RECENT WAS TODAY, SO THAT IS THE DATE USED TO ANSWER "WHEN DID THIS HAPPEN"
NOTIFIED DURING JULY 2019 OF 2 RECALLS (S43 AND S33). ON 7/12/2019 S43 WAS COMPLETED. S33 PARTS WERE ORDERED. THE FIRST ETA WAS IN SEPTEMBER. THAT WAS CANCELED DUE TO LACK OF PARTS. I HAVE BROUGHT THIS TO THE ATTENTION OF THE DEALER AND TO "ALL STAR DODGE CHRYSLER JEEP RAM" BUT THERE IS STILL NO DATE AND WAS TOLD THERE IS A LARGE BACK ORDER LIST AND NO KNOWN DATE AS TO WHEN THE PART WILL BE AVAILABLE. THE RECALL NOTICE SAID "IT IS EXTREMELY IMPORTANT TO TAKE STEPS NOW TO REPAIR YOUR VEHICLE TO ENSURE THE SAFETY OF YOU AND YOUR PASSENGERS." I HAVE TAKEN THESE STEPS. CHRYSLER HAS PUT IN AN PART ORDER AND CANNOT GIVE ME A DATE AS TO WHEN THIS CAN BE FIXED. THE SIZE OF THIS BACKLOG INDICATES THERE ARE MANY INSTALLATIONS NEEDED.
TOTALLY INTEGRATED POWER MODULE (TIPM) MASS FAILURE CAUSING ALL ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS TO GO HAYWIRE AND CAR TO BE UNDRIVABLE. THIS APPARENTLY IS AN INCREASINGLY BAD PROBLEM ON JEEP WRANGLERS.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND STATED THAT THE PARTS WERE EXPECTED TO BE AVAILABLE BY LATE SEPTEMBER. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE.
THE HOOD LATCHES NEEDED TO BE CHANGED. IF YOU TRAVELED ANYTHING OVER 50MPH ON THE FREEWAY THE HOOD WOULD VIOLENTLY FLUTTER AND YOU COULD SEE IT RAISING UP ALMOST TO 3/4 OF AN INCH. THIS MADE ME SCARED TO DRIVE IT ON THE FREEWAY.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 83,030.
MANUAL TRANSMISSION POPS OUT OF GEAR, THIS IS THE THIRD TIME THE SYNCHRONIZER WILL NEED TO BE REPLACED. I PAID TO HAVE IT REPLACED THE FIRST TIME BECAUSE THE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. THE SECOND TIME CHRYSLER PAID TO REPLACE IT: THAT WAS 2 1/2 YEARS AGO (THAT IS HOW LONG IT LASTED FOR) I RECENTLY CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP WHO REPLACED IT IN 11/2016 AND THEY SAID I DON'T HAVE A WARRANTY AND THEY ONLY GUARANTEE THEIR WORK FOR 2 YEARS. I FOUND A RECALL SERVICE BULLETIN ON LINE FOR THE SYNCHRONIZER THAT WAS SENT TO ALL DEALERSHIPS APRIL 20, 2010
GAS TANK COVER IS RUSTED SO BAD THE TANK COULD FALL OUT. VERY UNSAFE FOR THE ROAD.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE SAME DEALER AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE PARTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE TO REPAIR THE FAILURES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURES AND PROVIDED A CASE NUMBER. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE CONTACT WOULD BE NOTIFIED WHEN THE PARTS WERE AVAILABLE. THE CONTACT WAS NOT CALLED AND THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 190,000.

BALL JOINT ON THE TIE ROD FELL OFF OF THE PITMAN ARM OF THE STEERING BOX BACKING OUT OF A PARKING SPOT AT A SHOPPING CENTER, LEAVING NO STEERING CONTROL. LOW SPEED AT TIME OF INCIDENT (UNDER 5KM/H) LUCKILY THERE WAS NO ACCIDENT. VEHICLE WAS BACKING OUT OF SPOT TO THE RIGHT AND A CLUNK WAS HEARD AND FELT IN THE STEERING WHEEL WHEN STRAIGHTENING THE WHEELS. JEEP WRANGLER 4DOOR 4X4 SAHARA UNLIMITED
