When running the vehicle in electric mode (and sometimes hybrid), there seems to be an issue with acceleration. When pressing the pedal, the vehicle begins to accelerate until it reaches around 50% power. Once that happens, it either barely accelerates or doesn't at all - even if you are pushing the gas pedal completely to the floor. After a short period of time, the engine kicks on to compensate, but there is of course a delay there and many times causes the vehicle to lurch forward. After taking my vehicle to the dealership twice for this, I was told that although Stellantis is keeping quiet about this, during the 68C recall software flash fix Stellantis installed something into the vehicles to essentially throttle the battery's power. They claim this is to avoid the battery from getting too hot. I was never notified that they would be completely altering the functionality of my vehicle and how it drives - which is inappropriate - and I believe this also poses a safety risk as the loss of propulsion/delay in acceleration and the lurching of the vehicle could cause an accident you're pulling out onto a road or are in traffic. Stellantis is claiming nothing was done to the vehicle and my dealership is now claiming it is functioning as intended, which makes sense because if they DID make this change, it is technically running how they want it to. However, I have had this vehicle for nearly 2 years and it NEVER drove like this before. I have also seen numerous posts and comments from other owners on the NHTSA website, Reddit, Facebook, and various Jeep forums mentioning they are having the EXACT same issues I am having, so I know it is not just my vehicle. This, along with the other recalls that STILL have no resolution is completely unacceptable and Stellantis would rather gaslight us into believing our vehicles are fine instead of owning up to the truth - that they are not.
Catastrophic Loss of Motive Power and Power Steering at Road Speed Following Recall 68C Update. Description: On February 6, 2026, my 2024 Jeep Wrangler 4xe (Mileage: 24,947) suffered a catastrophic safety failure while in motion on a public roadway. This occurred about 25 hours after the vehicle was "cleared" by a dealership for Recall 68C (NHTSA Recall 25V-741). While driving at approximately 25/30 MPH in Electric Mode, the vehicle suddenly displayed a "Service Transmission" warning and a red high-voltage "Service Hybrid Electric Vehicle System" error. The vehicle immediately lost all motive power and entered a "Limp Mode" (Turtle icon) that restricted speed to under 5 MPH. Simultaneously, the vehicle lost power steering and displayed errors for "Service Shifter," "Auto Emergency Braking (AEB) Unavailable," and "Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) Unavailable." I was forced to drift the unpowered vehicle across lanes of traffic into a shoulder without power steering where another vehicle almost hit me. The vehicle revved excessively but would not provide propulsion. After a hard restart, I was able to move the vehicle at 20 MPH to a safe location, where it was subsequently towed to the dealership. This failure occurred after the manufacturer assured me the vehicle was safe following the Recall 68C software update. This is a life-threatening defect that caused a total loss of control on a live roadway. I am requesting a formal investigation into the effectiveness of the 68C software remedy. I have video and photos of the dashboard
Dealers: Lakeland Crysler Dodge RAM, FL; Second authorized Jeep dealer, Bartow FL Complaint: My 2024 Jeep Wrangler Sahara has multiple unresolved safety defects despite repeated warranty repairs, and I have no confidence in this Jeep at just 12,000 miles. Forward Collision Warning (FCW) not working — Lakeland Jeep failed to repair or document inspections. Fuel leak / gasoline fumes in the cabin — After repairs on Feb 4, 2026, strong fumes entered the cabin while my children were passengers. A second dealer confirmed the leak and retained the vehicle as unsafe. sensor failures — Reported since July 2024, still unresolved. Failure to document safety sensors — Repeatedly requested, ignored by dealer and Stellantis. Dealer GM and Stellantis negligence — Cases closed prematurely; repairs rushed without confirming the Jeep was safe to drive. The Jeep continues to pose serious risk to passengers, including my children, due to fuel fumes and non-functioning safety systems. I cannot trust this vehicle to transport my family safely, despite being only 12,000 miles. Documentation: Emails, texts, certified letters, and repair orders document repeated safety defects and communication with Stellantis and Lakeland Motors Jeep. Request: Immediate investigation and warranty repairs Written confirmation that the Jeep is safe before return Buyback under Florida Lemon Law due to repeated unresolved safety defects
My Jeep Wrangler 4xe now has controlled/limited electric propulsion while driving in electric only mode after 68c recall was performed. With no warning while driving in electric only mode, my vehicle will not accelerate without accelerator press almost to the floor to activate the internal gas engine. This behavior on a cold run starts out fine, but as the vehicle(electrical system) warms, the limitations come on strong can catch the driver completely off guard if needing to accelerate quickly to merge into traffic or enter freeway on ramps. This erratic behavior is both dangerous to the driver along with other drivers on the road. My dealer has driven the vehicle on a short(in town) test drive and concluded the vehicle drives as intended by the manufacture. No warning are lamps visible, and as outside temps rise, this issue seems to be more apparent. This electrical behavior started the day I received my vehicle from the dealer after 68c recall was performed. The software that is now installed on these 4xe vehicles seem to be limiting/cutting the electrical output of the onboard high voltage battery to limit or eliminate heat stress on the internal battery known to catch fire and burn under heavy load. This creates a safety hazard to owners who drive these vehicles that basically stall out(no acceleration/dead pedal) without warning given to the operator prior to the software limiting the battery output to the vehicle drive train at will. When this occurs the electrical boost gauge on the 4xe dash will not rise above 25% no matter how far down you push the accelerator pedal, where normally(when not limited by software) the gauge can reach 100% during the electrical acceleration process.
The hybrid system in my 2024 Jeep Wrangler 4xe repeatedly fails, causing the vehicle to lose propulsion, drop out of electric mode, hesitate, and shut off while driving. These failures have occurred in traffic and at highway speeds. The vehicle has experienced multiple safety‑related power‑loss events, including on JR Allen Parkway and I‑185, where the hybrid system failed to transition between electric and gas modes and the vehicle began losing power. Beginning in April 2025, the vehicle generated repeated Jeep Connect alerts stating “Electric charging failed for your vehicle.” These alerts occurred dozens of times over many months, indicating an early hybrid‑system malfunction. The issue is not related to home charging equipment, as the alerts come from the vehicle’s telematics system and the hybrid system later failed while driving. On February 5, 2026, the dealership’s Service Director informed us that the defect was identified, no fix exists, and the vehicle is unsafe to drive. FCA has not provided a remedy. The vehicle cannot be safely operated in electric mode due to hybrid‑system failure, and it cannot be safely operated in gas mode due to engine‑related safety concerns. The vehicle is unsafe in all modes of operation. This defect creates a serious risk of collision due to sudden loss of propulsion, inability to accelerate, and unexpected shutdowns while driving.
Following a manufacturer over-the-air (OTA) software update released in Fall 2025 and subsequent completion of Safety Recall 68C, my vehicle exhibits new and dangerous driving behavior that did not exist prior to these updates. While operating in electric mode, the vehicle can unexpectedly lose power during acceleration, including at roadway speeds and while climbing hills, creating a risk of sudden deceleration in traffic. Under electric operation, the vehicle accelerates normally up to approximately 45 mph. Beyond that point, electric power output progressively decreases even as accelerator input is maintained or increased. Vehicle speed can decline while the accelerator is further depressed, and the electric power indicator visibly drops. This often results in abrupt internal combustion engine (ICE) engagement, aggressive downshifting, and sudden acceleration. This loss-and-surge behavior is unpredictable and hazardous, particularly in traffic or on inclines. Prior to the OTA update and recall action, the vehicle provided consistent electric power well beyond 45 mph, and ICE engagement was smooth and nearly imperceptible. I consistently achieved approximately 22–23 miles of electric range on the same daily route. Post-update and post-recall, usable electric range has been reduced to approximately 14–15 miles under similar conditions, regardless of weather. The issue also occurs at low speeds, including complete loss of electric momentum while climbing hills, followed by harsh ICE engagement that can cause wheel spin. This behavior raises safety concerns related to power loss and unexpected acceleration. Based on the timing and nature of these changes, I am concerned that software updates may be intentionally limiting battery power output and usable capacity to reduce stress on potentially defective high-voltage batteries rather than correcting the underlying hardware defect. This materially alters vehicle performance and safety and requires investigation.
Ever since the 68c recall update my Jeep has been having a hard time knowing what system it should be using to drive. The electric system shuts off, but the engine doesn’t start up until I press the gas pedal to the floor. I’ve had multiple instances on the freeway where this has happened and almost caused me to wreck. I’m very concerned this is happening.
After the 68C / NHTSA 25V-741 Recall was completed, the Jeep can be difficult to drive and will dangerously lose power or accelerate unexpectedly. When driving in Electric Mode it will suddenly lose power and often start the engine abruptly. I've nearly been rear ended when it lost power, but also almost crashed into the car in front of me when the engine started abruptly and gave full power unexpectedly. This is a new characteristic since the recall was completed. I spoke with the dealer assistant service manager, and he said that unless the vehicle is displaying an error or warning, that it is operating as Stellantis has written the software for the recall. I spoke with Stellantis and told them of the severe safety issue, and that I feel unsafe driving it. Since I've been told this defect is normal, I asked for a refund/return. They said "sorry" and can't help me and referred me to arbitration. This is a defective vehicle that has been rendered even further defective. Stellantis refuses to take any responsibility.
Hybrid mode, parking vehicle 2mph stopping/breaking. Vehicle lurches forward toward trees. I continue to apply breaks place into park and pull up break, while turning wheel to left doing circles to avoid collision w anything for approximately 30 feet. The hybrid mode seemed to go from electric to gas, which may have triggered the erratic jolt forward?
Under recall 78C, Sand Contaminated Engine, I was advised by the manufacturer FCA to contact the dealership immediately if there were any unusual sounds/movements while operating the vehicle. On January 10th, 2026, the vehicle is noted to be making a new clicking/vibration sound. I contacted the dealership Milton Ruben Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram in Augusta GA who towed the vehicle to their location. Upon vehicle arrival, the sales manager Ben at number [XXX] called this consumer and stated he did not want the vehicle and wasn't going to service it because they catch on fire, and that he will just place it on the back lot. So now I am without a safe vehicle to drive and this is a leased vehicle that is under manufacturer warranty. My 2024 Jeep Wrangler 4xe has multiple major safety defects involving fire risk, loss of propulsion, and engine failure. The vehicle has been subject to four significant recalls, including: * NHTSA 24V720000 (Recall 95B): High-voltage battery may fail internally and cause a fire while parked or driving. Owners are instructed to park outside away from structures and to avoid charging. * NHTSA 25V766000 (Recall 78C): Debris inside the engine may cause engine failure, loss of drive power, and engine compartment fire. * NHTSA 25V710000 (Recall A7C): OTA software error may cause sudden loss of drive power while operating the vehicle. These recall remedies are not yet available. The vehicle has become unsafe for normal use and puts my family at risk. I pursued a lemon law claim previously due to early severe issues, including charging/fire hazards, but the problems continue and are worsening. I am unable to safely drive, park, or charge the vehicle as designed. I am requesting NHTSA review due to the ongoing risks of fire, propulsion loss, and the lack of available repairs.
Vehicle: 2024 Jeep Wrangler 4xe Manufacturer: Stellantis / Jeep Recalls Involved: •High-Voltage Battery Fire Risk Recall (park-outside / do-not-charge) •Engine Casting / Sand Contamination Recall (Recall 68C) — risk of sudden loss of propulsion and fire NHTSA Case: If referencing dealer/Jeep case → Case #94839085 Mileage: [insert mileage] VIN: [insert VIN] Complaint Description: My 2024 Jeep Wrangler 4xe is currently subject to two serious safety recalls: (1) a high-voltage battery recall requiring the vehicle to be parked outside and not charged due to fire risk, and (2) Recall 68C involving engine casting/sand contamination that can lead to unrecoverable loss of propulsion, engine failure, and potential fire. Jeep has notified me that no repair is currently available for either recall and has provided no estimated timeline for a remedy. As a result, I have been advised not to drive or charge the vehicle. This has left me with a vehicle that is unsafe to operate, unsafe to store, and unusable for daily transportation. I contacted Jeep Customer Care and the dealership for assistance. Jeep has only offered a limited 30-day reimbursement-based rental that requires me to pay out–of–pocket and does not cover the full period during which my vehicle is unsafe and unrepairable. Jeep has not provided a loaner or replacement vehicle despite the indefinite loss of use. This situation raises serious concerns because: •The vehicle cannot be safely driven, •There is a real risk of engine failure or fire while driving, •There is a risk of battery fire even while parked, •A remedy is unknown and unavailable, •Jeep has not provided a safe, usable transportation solution. I am filing this complaint because I believe the severity of these defects, the lack of an available remedy, and the manufacturer’s inadequate interim support pose a significant safety risk to me, my family, and the public. I am requesting NHTSA to review this matter.
I brought my vehicle into the dealership 11/15/2025 for the battery recall the dealership informed me Jeep has no fix for the vehicle and could be mid January 2026 this is unacceptable for this vehicle I cannot use as intended
Recall 68c recommends against charging, therefore impacting our fuel consumption negatively. This therefore is costing additional money to use this transportation. Also, it is nearly impossible to follow the recall guidelines for keeping away from structures and other vehicles. Some properties refuse this vehicle from being on their property.
Jeep Wrangler 4xe (VIN: [XXX] ) has three active recalls with no available remedy. My vehicle has shut down three times while driving, exactly matching the safety defects described in Recall 25V-710, which warns of sudden loss of propulsion. Recalls 25V-741 and 25V-766 warn of potential fire and catastrophic engine failure. Jeep/Stellantis refused to provide a safe remedy or replacement without charging me. The car is unsafe to drive and unsafe to park near my home. Request NHTSA intervention. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
I lease a 2024 Jeep Wrangler 4xe (VIN [XXX] ). On 10/23/2025, while traveling about 50 mph, the vehicle suddenly lost propulsion and the dash displayed “Put in Park to drive.” I had to coast through traffic, stop, shift to Park, and fully restart to regain drive. Within minutes it recurred. This defect is unpredictable and dangerous. I regularly commute on the Ohio Turnpike at highway speeds and I cannot risk driving this vehicle because it can cut power without warning, leaving me unable to accelerate while surrounding traffic closes in. I am avoiding highway use entirely and limiting all driving due to the high risk of rear-end collision during a power loss. The vehicle is unsafe to operate until a permanent remedy exists. Background: the vehicle has previously exhibited powertrain/electrical issues (including overheating) and spent ~2.5 weeks at the dealer over the summer. Early incidents occurred under 18,000 miles. Recall context: Mopar and NHTSA show an open safety recall A7C / 25V-710 on my VIN for loss of motive power; status “remedy not yet available.” The vehicle is available for inspection by NHTSA or the manufacturer. I can provide screenshots/video of the “Put in Park to drive” message and repair records upon request. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
Jeep wanted to do an OTA update through the connect service. I continued to select 'update later' for several days then it all of a sudden my uconnect service told me it was updating. Immediately after it was updated, while on the road, the screened flashed off then back on just like it does at start up wanting me to start the vehicle. At this point we were at a stoplight and wasn't actively moving at this time. It was already running, and when the button was pressed, it turned, off, then pressed again and turned back on and restarted with on with CEL. I was only a mile from my local dealership, so I proceeded to go there.
The jeep lost power after only driving abojt a mile down the road. all the lights came on the dash and I had to pull over until it came to a slow stop, the brakes didn’t seem like they working. Once in park I got a dash light that said Service Charging System. I was not able to move it out of park to even neutral. After about 15 minutes I was able to get it to start and drove it home about 1 mile- it did the same thing. When it restarted the check engine light is on.
Complete loss of power and power steering. Repeated every 1.5 minutes after restart.
Software update causes vehicle to completely loose power after two minutes or so of driving. Very serious problem and dangerous. Requires stopping vehicle immediately and rebooting. Happens again and again.
