There are 50 owner-reported powertrain & transmission complaints for the 2024 Jeep Wranglerin NHTSA's database. These are unverified consumer reports and may not reflect confirmed defects.
after a recent recall (68C) for my 4xe the driving characteristics of my vehicle have totally changed. accelerationis delayed and jerky with the engine cutting in and out very unpredictavely now. electric range has also gone down in a real world scenario. Jeep has not clarified or explained that the recall did to the driving dynamics of the vehicle after the recall.
I am writing to report an additional safety‑related incident involving my 2024 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 4xe. This vehicle previously experienced propulsion issues that I reported under NHTSA Case Number 11692887. On the morning of February 4, 2026, while driving to work on a busy interstate (approximately 12 miles from home), the vehicle again began exhibiting propulsion instability. The vehicle experienced repeated surging and thrusting movements that became progressively more severe during the drive. During these events, the check‑engine light intermittently illuminated and then turned off. This incident occurred exactly seven days after my vehicle was evaluated by Sam Leman Dodge on January 27, 2026, for three open safety recalls. At that visit, I was provided paperwork indicating that the issues had been addressed. However, as of today, the official Jeep/Mopar recall website still shows multiple serious and active safety recalls for my VIN, including recalls involving fire risk and sudden loss of motive power. After the February 4 incident, I contacted the dealership, and their service department advised me not to drive the vehicle and recommended that it be towed to the dealership for evaluation. I followed this guidance due to the severity of the propulsion behavior and the safety concerns involved. Given the recurrence of propulsion instability, the worsening severity of the surging behavior, the dealer’s recommendation not to drive the vehicle, and the presence of multiple unresolved safety recalls, I am requesting NHTSA’s assistance in ensuring that the manufacturer addresses these issues and restores the vehicle to a safe operating condition. Thank you for your attention to this matter. Recognize that this is the second time I have emailed the NHTSA regarding propulsion issues with this vehicle (Earlier Case Number 11692887). Please help me build a relationship with Jeep to ensure this vehicle is restored to a safe condition.
I was driving my car when it powered down and had an unrecoverable loss of propulsion. It's a miracle I didn't crash and kill myself or anyone else on the road. This aligns with NHTSA Recall Number 25V-766. Jeep dealer identified the issue is failed transfer case assembly, then had to replace transfer case motor, then updated the software for the electric battery, but that software update is an ineffective remedy for the recall. I'm afraid to drive car because it might spontaneously catch fire or power down while driving again, which is terrifying because you lose all steering control. My car has been at the Jeep Dealer in Lynnfield, Massachusetts since January 7, 2026. The Jeep dealer said they couldn't buy my Jeep from me because they can't certify it's safety due to open recall. I can't park car in my parking garage or anywhere in Boston per recall notice. Bought Jeep Wrangler Rubicon X 4xe brand new 1/20/24 for $76,500 and have $25,000 of equity/payments in it, but it has a note of $52,500 outstanding and due to recall issues the car is only worth maybe $32,500 but should be worth at least $60,000. I want manufacturer to buy my car back from me because it's under warranty and they can't fix the battery in a way that makes it safe to drive or even park near anything.
After a bad OTA update in October, in November before the stop charge recall was issued I noticed on Nov 21, when in "ELECTRIC" mode, after 10 or so minutes of driving the vehicle loses the ability to accelerate past half application of the accelerator. This lack of power continues until the accelerator is FULLY pushed on the floor forcing the gas engine on and causing immediate and dangerous acceleration. After this incident on the 11/21, I didn't charge again until I had the 68C recall performed where the dealer told me they think it's fixed. On my way home from the dealer it happened again. From here I emailed the dealer over the holiday and sent them videos of the problem. I opened a case with Jeep and brought it in. I was then told they replicated my issue but that it's normal now since all the updates. They refused to go for a quick ride along and closed my Jeep case with no resolution or help. This problem that did not exist before the OTA update. I don't know if it's related to the OTA update or related to the A7C recall, wither way I don't feel safe driving this with any amount of charge in it, even though the dealer gave an OK to charge. The dealer wants nothing to do with addressing this because I think they can't fix it since there is no CEL or codes in the computer. I don't know what to do from here. You will find attached the email chain and see YouTube addresses. I can share these directly if needed or produce much better ones. This is completely repeatable and consistent.
This is a 2024 Jeep Wrangler 4xe. It currently has 22,700 miles on it. These issues began prior to 20,000 miles. The car stops driving with out warning. This has occurred on three occasions, while driving in traffic. It locks up, but power is still working. A message pops up that says put the vehicle in Drive...which it already is. It comes to an abrupt stop. It will not regain power. You have to power on and off multiple times to get it to start. Recently it failed to start (engine). Again, had full power, but the engine would not start. It also will not charge fully to 100%. The display screen will bling or go black, with no power. The steering wheel will shake uncontrollably while driving over 65-70 MPH. These issues began in summer 2025. One incident was in Sept. Oct, Nov, and Dec 13 was the last.
My vehicle is affected by multiple safety recalls related to the high-voltage battery / charging system. The recall instructions include safety restrictions such as not parking near structures/buildings and limiting/avoiding charging (or following specific charging precautions) due to a potential safety hazard (including fire risk). Despite these warnings, there is no available remedy/repair at this time, and an authorized dealer has confirmed the recalls apply but cannot complete the recall repairs. Separately (and repeatedly), while driving the vehicle has displayed a “STOP SAFELY / PULL OVER” warning message multiple times. Each time this occurs I must pull over immediately due to concern for a sudden loss of propulsion or unsafe operation in traffic. This creates a significant safety risk to me and others because it can occur unexpectedly and could lead to a crash, loss of power, or being stranded in an unsafe location. The condition has been reproduced multiple times. The vehicle is available for inspection. The exact root cause is UNKNOWN at this time, and I have not received a permanent fix.
The vehicle experienced a loss of motive power while stopped at a traffic light and would not accelerate when the accelerator was pressed. The failure appears related to the powertrain/electrical system. The vehicle was unable to move and required a restart to regain propulsion. The vehicle remains available for inspection upon request. This failure placed my safety and the safety of other road users at risk due to the inability to proceed through an intersection as expected, creating a risk of collision. The problem has not been reproduced on demand, but it has occurred at least once and is consistent with an active safety recall (A7C) related to loss of motive power. The issue has been discussed with the manufacturer and a dealer, both of whom confirmed that no repair or interim remedy is currently available. The vehicle has not been physically inspected by the manufacturer due to the lack of an available repair. No warning lamps or messages were present prior to the failure, and the loss of propulsion occurred without warning.
We are aware of the Jeep Wrangler 4xe software update which basically disables the wrangler and have been diligent about selecting the red X to not accept the update. This morning on my son’s way to work the update went through anyway resulting in a loss of power forcing him to stop the vehicle. Thankfully he was able to limp the Jeep to our local service station where the firmware over the air update “fix” was able to be applied and the vehicle is functioning again. This is a major concern for several reasons, he was a minute away from one of the busiest interstates in New York, where this could have been a very serious incident, second the vehicle updated regardless of user input to defer or not install. Had we not have been prepared for this because of social media, not Jeep, this would have had serious implications.
DRIVING DOWN ROAD, APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH THE JEEP ABRUPTLY STOPPED, NOTHING NO POWER TO ANY PART OF THE VEHICLE , LOSS OF DRIVE POWER. THANKFULLY NO ONE WAS BEHIND ME FOR SURE I WOULD HAVE BEEN HIT IN THE REAR, I AM SO AFRAID TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE , AS THIS HAS HAPPENED ON TWO OCCASIONS LATE SEPTEMBER AND OCTOBER 14 2025. ALREADY. THE DEALER CONFIRMED IT AS I SENT A PICTURE OF THE DASH BOARD THAT WAS TAKEN THE SECOND INCIDENT , WITH ALL THE THINGS THAT LIT UP. NO NOT ONE TIME WAS THERE ANY WARNING, MESSAGES OR LIGHTS PRIOR TO INCIDENT. I CONTACTED DEAERSHIP TO MAKE APT WAS TOLD "DONT BRING IT IN" THERE IS NO REMEDY, "ICAN GIVE YOU THE 800 NUMBER FOR CHRYSLER/JEEP" EARLY NOVEMBER I GOT RECALL NOTICE FOR THE BATTERY THAT COULD "GO ON FIRE" OR "BLOW UP" - I CALLED AND THE DEALER GAVE ME AN APPOINTMENT FOR 1/20/26 - 3 MONTHS??? IASKED IF THEY CAN ALSO ADDRESS THE 2ND RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM THAT HAS OCCURRED 2 TIMES OUT OF NOWHERE WAS TOLD WE WILL GO OVER THIS WHEN YOU COME IN. I REQUESTED A LOANER CAR THATS WHY THEY MADE MY APT 3 MONTHS AWAY, THEY CLAIM DIDNT HAVE A LOANER UNTIL THEN. WENT ON 1/20/26 THE TECH CALLED ME TWICE ONCE TO TELL ME THERE IS NO REMEDY TO FIX AC7 PROBLEM AND THEY WILL SEE WHAT CAN BE DONE ABOUT "BATTERY ISSUE RECALL, CALLED AGAIN ASKING RIDICULOUS QUESTIONS LIKE HOW ARE YOU CHARGING THE VEHICLE, ARE YOU USING AN AFTER MARKET CHARGER, AS IF YOU DIDNT LEASE ME THIS VEHICHLE WITH THE CHARGE... I FELT LIKE THEY WHERE TRYING TO SAY ANY ISSUE WAS MY FAULT. I SENT THE TECH A TEXT TO LET HIM KNOW THAT I REALLY AM NOT COMFORTABLE PICKING UP THE VEHICLE WITHOUT THE NO REMEDY FOR THE ISSUE AND CONCERNED FOR MY SAFETY AND THE SAFETY OF MY FAMILY. HE SAID "YOU SHOULD BE ALRIGHT" "YOU SHOULD BE OK TO DRIVE", I TOLD HIM THAT I WASN'T REASSURED THAT I "SHOULD" BE OK??? i SAID I WANTED TO DISCUSS GETTING A LOANER OR REPLACEMENT VEHICLE, HE SAID THAT WAS NOT GOING TO HAPPEN & IF i DIDNT PICK THE VEHICLE I WOULD BE CHARGED $50/DAY FOR LOANER.
While I was en route to get a recall serviced my Vehicle powered off while I was driving, at a speed of 25mph, out of my neighborhood. The Dashboard instructed me to put the vehicle in park (P), press the brake and the start button to power on the engine. The check engine light remained on and the vehicle started driving real sluggish. I couldn’t get above 10mph. I pulled into a parking lot and sat called the Jeep service department where I was going to have it serviced. I informed them of the issue so they could look at it, if I made it to them. The warnings for the check engine light said service stability controls. I proceeded to drive very slowly with my hazards on and still on 10mph very ruggedly; then all of a sudden the vehicle started to pick up speed and the check engine light went off. I was able to get on the highway and safely make it to the Jeep service center where they checked my vehicle but could not find a problem.
After an OTA firmware update, I started driving as normal for a couple of blocks, I stopped to pick up my wife who was walking. She got into the car, loses the door as I began to accelerate the car suddenly stopped, the engine quit immediately. I put the transmission back in Park I was able to restart and proceed to my destination a short distance away. The Check Engine Light was illuminated. After an hour stop I started the vehicle to return home it drove normal and the CEL cleared itself. My concern is that this could happen again and could be catastrophic at highway speeds.
entire vehicle shuts down, without warning. was driving down road all of sudden the truck shut off no not engine, electrical, stearing etc. Was confirmed at dealer. no not until after it shut down did a waning appear.
Completed OTA update previous day. Driving the next day 1 mile into the drive the check engine light, went off, a warning on the dash said something about electrical stability system failure, showed a picture of the jeep with red electrical highlighted. The car ran very poorly, could not accelerate and the car slowed from 35 to 15. During this time the car flashed instructions to put the car in park. After about 1/2 mile I slowed to stop and put the Jeep in park. Restarted by pushing holding brake and pushing start button. Ran well for 10 + miles, then same thing happend again. The Jeep flashed engine warning light, dings and lights flashing. Had to into the left turn lane and came to stop at the stop light. Put the Jeep in park again, tried to restart but this time it did not restart. The gear stuck in Park with the P flashing on the indicator. Had to pull the emergency release cord to put Jeep into N to push to a safe location. Jeep failed to start or move from P and is at the shop now.

Jeep over the air update caused my car to shut off completely in the middle of an intersection. I had to come to a complete and violent stop and restart the car. This happened three more times trying to get home - with kids in the car - though thankfully subsequent times were kess precarious because I took side streets and was careful.
There are 2 open safety recalls on this vehicle. One for stopping which it already did and one for fire. My vehicle stopped and lost all power while going 35 mph. I am not safe in this vehicle and want my lease voided.
On October 12, 2025, while I was driving, the vehicle abruptly shut off, locked up, and completely stalled while in motion. This created an immediate and serious hazard to my safety and to other drivers on the road. I contacted Jeep to report the incident, but I was informed that no service appointments were available for several weeks. I was also told that Jeep currently does not have a repair or remedy for this issue. At present, Jeep has acknowledged a safety defect, has no available solution, and cannot perform a timely repair. The vehicle is unsafe to operate and cannot be used for its intended purpose. I rely on reliable transportation for my personal and professional obligations and cannot be without a safe vehicle for an extended period while Jeep attempts to resolve a known safety problem. Given that Jeep is unable to repair the defect and is effectively in breach of its warranty obligations, I am requesting that Stellantis Financial Services immediately terminate my lease without any early termination fees, penalties, or additional charges. I must obtain a dependable vehicle from a manufacturer that can provide safe and operable transportation.
Update was prompted on uconnect system. Vehicle randomly shuts off when driving, specifically in hybrid or electric mode. Restarts and shuts down again.
After an Update, the Jeep died completely in the middle of the road with a bunch of errors on the dash and would not restart. After about 10 minutes, it restarted but died again shortly after. A third try a while later and it ran in manual transmission mode to where we could get it home. Check engine light is on and vehicle is still acting odd.
Did a OTA UConnect update that showed up Sat am 10/11/25 - CEL came on along with a wrench icon - Jeep experienced a total loss of power. Instrument display showed car was off and i coasted to a stop. was able to drop at dealer Saturday. tech at dealership indicated i was the 3rd one that morning and said another local dealer had 5 issues that morning. A check of the internet intimates there are anecdotally hundreds of affected Jeeps.
