During the crash, the front of the vehicle was severely damaged but only the front driver air bag located under the dashboard console had partially deployed. No other airbags in the vehicle were deployed to provide protection to the driver. No injuries were reported. A police report was taken at the scene and the vehicle was towed away. During the crash, the vehicle was destroyed. The cause of the failures was not determined. The manufacturer and local dealer were contacted regarding the failure. The failure mileage was 75,000.

The contact depressed the accelerator pedal and the vehicle failed to respond. The contact pulled off the road and turned off and restarted the vehicle; however, the failure recurred. The contact stated that the vehicle was losing motive power and slower speeds; however, while depressing the accelerator pedal the vehicle was jerking while the RPM was increasing. Additionally, the contact stated that she had experienced a failure of the rear passenger’s side seat belt which started to tighten independently while her child was in her car seat and restrained by the belt. The contact stated that she had to cut the seat belt webbing to the disconnect button on the belt buckle. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 118,000.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO MAJOR WORLD (43-40 NORTHERN BLVD, LONG ISLAND CITY, NY 11101, (866) 614-2884) TO BE DIAGNOSED, BUT THE MECHANIC WAS UNABLE TO RETRIEVE A FAULT CODE. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 LINCOLN MKC. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 3-5 MPH IN TRAFFIC, ANOTHER VEHICLE STRUCK THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE OF THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED PRIOR TO THE CRASH. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED AN INJURY TO THE LEFT SIDE OF THE HEAD AS IT CAME IN CONTACT WITH THE DRIVER SIDE WINDOW, AS WELL AS INJURIES TO THE LEFT SHOULDER, LUMBER STRAIN, LEFT KNEE AND LEG INJURIES, AND RIGHT AND LEFT WRIST STRAINS. MEDICAL ATTENTION WAS REQUIRED. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT HER LEFT JAW WAS SWOLLEN AND SHE SUFFERED ONGOING HEADACHES. THE CONTACT WAS UNAWARE OF THE INJURIES TO THE OTHER PARTY INVOLVED. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN UNKNOWN LOCAL LINCOLN DEALER IN CLEVELAND, OHIO WHICH WAS THEN TAKEN TO NICK MAYER COLLSION CENTER (2613 SCRANTON RD IN CLEVELAND, OHIO 44113 (216) 556-1222) FOR BODY REPAIRS AND DIAGNOSES FOR THE AIR BAG DEPLOYMENT FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 13,900.
