PURCHASED 2007 E350 WAGON JUNE 16 2014, UPON FIRST REFILL OF FUEL TANK NOTICED THE SMELL OF GASOLINE INSIDE AUTOMOBILE. IT DISSIPATES OVER TIME. ON 30 JUNE, PURCHASED SECOND FULL TANK OF FUEL AND NOTICED SAME ISSUE AND BEGAN RESEARCH. I DISCOVERED THIS HAS BEEN AN ENDEMIC ISSUE WITH THE FUEL PUMP AND FUEL TANK. AM RESEARCHING RECALLS AND TAKING TO TRUSTED MECHANIC TODAY TO GET TO THE ROOT CAUSE. FUEL VAPORS ARE HIGHLY VOLATILE AND I WILL CONTACT MERCEDES BENZ TO REGISTER MY COMPLAINT. WILL KEEP YOU UPDATED. THE CURRENT MULTI-BILLION GM RECALL IS A SIMILAR ISSUE THAT CORPORATE LEADERS IGNORED FOR YEARS AND NOW PAYING A DEAR PRICE. WILL ENGAGE MB OF NA IN A DELIBERATE AND DOGGED MANNER UNTIL RESOLVED. *TR
EVERY TIME I FILL UP MY CAR ALL THE WAY, I NOTICE A VERY STRONG FUEL SMELL COMING FROM THE DRIVER SIDE OF THE CAR. I HAVEN'T SPILLED ANY FUEL INSIDE MY CAR SO IM ASSUMING THERE IS A LEAK SOMEWHERE, THE SMELL IS UNBEARABLE AT TIMES. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 MERCEDES BENZ E230. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO SHIFT FROM FIRST GEAR AND THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 65,000.
VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN AT HIGHWAY 54, MO ON CRUISE CONTROL AT 70MPH. NEXT TO ELDON EXIT, ON A STRAIGHT PART OF THE HIGHWAY, ALL OF SUDDEN THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE SPRING BROKE WITH A VERY LOUD BANG. AFTER INVESTIGATION, THE SPRING BROKE AT THE FIRST LOWER WINDING (THE END OF PLASTIC COVER, WHERE IT STARTS THE SECOND WINDING). AT THE BROKEN LOCATION AND ONLY AT THAT LOCATION, SURFACE RUST (30-40MM LONG) COULD BE SEEN. THE SPRING ON THE OTHER SIDE (PASSENGER SIDE) WAS OKAY BUT I COULD SEE THAT THERE IS NO PAINT (ABOUT 20MM LONG) AT EXACT SAME LOCATION AND IT STARTED TO RUST ON A VERY SMALL SPOT (1-3MM). *TR
2007 MERCEDES BENZ E350 SHOWED SYMPTOMS OF CRANKING BUT NOT STARTING INTERMITTENTLY AND ALSO NOTICED FUEL ODOR IN THE COMPARTMENT OFTEN FOR WEEKS. EVENTUALLY FUEL ODOR WAS NOTED WITHIN THE INTERIOR OF THE VEHICLE AND THE CAR WILL NOT START AT ALL AFTER CRANKING FOR FEW SECONDS LOOKING LIKE IT WAS NOT GETTING FUEL AT ALL. WHEN THE CAR WAS ARRANGED TO BE SENT TO THE DEALERSHIP, THE TOW TRUCK GUY REMOVED THE REAR SEAT TO IDENTIFY SOURCE OF FUEL SMELL WHICH HAD REVEALED FUEL POOLING ON STARTING ATTEMPT OF THE ENGINE AND THE HEAVY FUEL POOLING WAS NOTED AT THE FUEL PUMP SENDING UNIT. THIS SEEMED EXTREMELY HAZARDOUS FOR CAR SAFETY.THE FUEL WAS GUSHING OUT WHICH SPREAD TO THE SEAT AND FABRIC AND SENT FUEL SMELL AND FUMES INTO THE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT. MERCEDES QUOTED $800+ FOR THE REPAIRS AND DELIVERED THE CAR PROMISING THAT THE FAULTY PUMP AND SENDING UNIT WAS REPLACED. THE CAR DID NOT EVEN MAKE HOME AND BROKE DOWN BEFORE REACHING HOME SHOWING SAME STARTING PROBLEM . HENCE IT WAS TOWED BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THIS TIME THEY ARE ASKING ANOTHER $800+ TO REPLACE THE SECOND FUEL PUMP WHICH THEY CLAIMED WAS WORKING WHEN THE CAR WAS DELIVERED. FUEL SMELL STILL EXISTS IN THE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT AND THE CAR IS NOT DRIVABLE . DEALERSHIP DID NOT ACCEPT ANY RESPONSIBILITY FOR DELIVERING THE CAR WITHOUT REPAIRING THE REPORTED DEFECT AND ASKING DOUBLE PRICE FOR A MANUFACTURE DEFECT OF THE CAR WHICH IS A MAJOR ROAD SAFETY HAZARD ITEM AND MUST BE CONSIDERED AS A SAFETY RECALL FROM MERCEDES CAR COMPANY. *TR
STRONG GAS SMELL ESPECIALLY WHEN PARKED AND AFTER FUELING. *TR
CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE LOCAL DEALER AND THEY FOUND CODES 1200, 1208, P0016 AND P0017. WORN BALANCE SHAFT SPROCKET. DOING RESEARCH ONLINE TURNS OUT THERE ARE HUNDREDS AND HUNDREDS OF AFFECTED MB CUSTOMERS. MERCEDES KNEW OF THIS PROBLEM AS EARLY AS 2007 BUT HAS NOT PUBLICLY ADDRESSED THIS ISSUE OR ISSUED A RECALL. THE BILL TO FIX THIS ISSUE IS OVER $4,000, SOME PEOPLE REPORT THE DEALER QUOTING THEM OVER $10,000. MY PRICE TO FIX THIS IS $5,995. MY COMPLAINT IS THAT THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE BY MERCEDES. KNOWINGLY THEY INSTALLED, AND KEPT INSTALLING, PARTS THAT WEAR OUT PREMATURELY LEAVING CUSTOMERS WITH AN UNFAIRLY LARGE BILL TO CORRECT THEIR MISTAKE. *TR
TOOK MY VEHICLE INTO THE SHOP FOR NEW SPARK PLUGS AND A COIL REPLACEMENT. THEY NOTICED A STRONG GASOLINE SMELL COMING FROM THE VEHICLE. THEY REMOVED THE BACK SEAT WHERE THE FUEL PUMP IS LOCATED AND FOUND THE FUEL PUMP IS LEAKING. YOU CANNOT JUST REPLACE THE FUEL PUMP ON THIS YEAR/MODEL E350. THE ENTIRE GAS TANK MUST BE REPLACES. WE HAD NOTICED THE SMELL OF GAS A FEW TIMES AFTER FILLING THE VEHICLE COMPLETELY UP WITH GAS AND WERE WONDERING WHY IT SMELLED SO STRONGLY OF GASOLINE. NOW WE FOUND OUT WHY. MERCEDES IS WANTING TO CHARGE ME TO BRING MY CAR INTO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER/SERVICE CENTER TO ASSESS THE SITUATION. HOWEVER, THEY WANT TO CHARGE ME FOR ASSESSING IT AND FROM THERE MAKE A DETERMINATION IF THEY WILL EVEN DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT SINCE MY VEHICLE IS NOT UNDER WARRANTY. *TR
FUEL GAUGE SHOWED 3/4 TANK, CAR STOPPED , MECHANIC TOLD US THE CAR WAS OUT OF GAS. I SPEND 600.00 AT THE SHOP TO FIND OUT THIS. THEY FIRST WANTED TO REPLACE TANK, FUEL PUMP AND SENDERS. GAS GAUGE IS NOT WORKING PROPER, ANY ADVISE? *TR
WHILE DRIVING AND CHANGING GEARS FROM FIRST TO SECOND, AT OR AROUND 10 - 20 RPM MY ENGINE BECAME UNCONTROLLABLE AND JERKED SPORADICALLY. I COULD NOT CONTROL THE VEHICLE UNTIL IT CHANGED INTO 3RD GEAR AND THEN BEGAN TO DRIVE AS NORMAL. THE CAR DOES THIS REPEATEDLY NOW UNTIL I FEEL IT HAS BECOME UNSAFE TO DRIVE. THE JERKING IS RANDOM SO I DON'T KNOW WHEN TO EXPECT IT AND WHAT TO DO WHEN IT HAPPENS. IT HAS CAUSED ME TO VEER OFF THE ROAD OCCASIONALLY. *TR
MY WIFE'S 2007 MERCEDES BENZ E350 SMELLS OF GAS EVERY TIME WE FILL UP THE CAR. THE SMELL IS NOTICEABLE INSIDE AND OUTSIDE THE CAR. WE HAD THE FUEL SYSTEM REPAIRED BUT THE SMELL MAY HAVE INFECTED THE BACK SEAT AND UPHOLSTERY. THE COST OF REPAIR WAS SLIGHTLY UNDER $1500 USD. I BELIEVE THIS IS AN UNSAFE SITUATION. HAD THE CAR BEEN REAR ENDED OR HIT ON EITHER REAR QUARTER IT IS EXTREMELY POSSIBLE FOR THE CAR TO CATCH/BURST ON FIRE. I'M VERY UPSET THAT MERCEDES HASN'T BEEN REQUIRED TO FIX THIS DEFECT AT THEIR COST. I'VE SEEN NUMEROUS OTHER COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS WITH VEHICLE IN THE 2004 TO 2008 YEAR. *TR
ONCE I FILL UP, THERE IS A VERY STRONG ODOR OF GASOLINE SMELL INSIDE AND OUTSIDE OF THE CAR. I TOOK OF THE REAR SEAT, THE FUEL PUMP COVER AND THERE IS A PUDDLE OF GAS. IT DOESN'T HAPPEN WHEN THE FUEL IS BELOW 3/4 OF A TANK OF GASOLINE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 MERCEDES BENZ E350. THE CONTACT SMELLED FUEL INSIDE THE VEHICLE. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE TWO FUEL SENDING UNITS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 62,512.
THE 2007 MERCEDES E550 EMITS A VERY STRONG GAS ODOR. IT SMELLS LIKE GAS VAPOR AND NOT BURNT MOTOR OILS. THE SMELL APPEARED SHORTLY AFTER I REFUELED THE GAS TANK. I DROVE THE CAR TO A SHOPPING CENTER, AND I COULD SMELL THE GAS BOTH INSIDE AND OUTSIDE. AFTER LEAVING THE CAR IN THE GARAGE, THE GARAGE NOW ALSO SMELLS LIKE GAS. *TR
AFTER FILLING UP MY GAS TANK, FOR THE FIRST TIME AFTER BUYING MY USED CAR, I SMELLED GAS IN THE INTERIOR OF THE CAR. ONCE HOME, I COULD SMELL GAS OUTSIDE OF THE CAR ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE. I RESEARCHED THIS ONLINE AND CAME TO FIND OUT EITHER THE SENDING UNIT OR GAS TANK WAS FAULTY WITH THIS GROUP OF MERCEDES. I REMOVED THE REAR SEAT, THEN REMOVED THE COVER PLATE OVER THE FUEL SENDING UNIT ONLY TO FIND ABOUT 5-6 CUPS OF GASOLINE SITTING ON TOP OF THE GAS TANK. I TRIED TO SOAK UP THIS GAS WITH RAGS, BUT THE VOLUME WAS TOO GREAT, SO I USED A SHOPVAC TO REMOVE THE LAKE OF GAS SITTING ON TOP OF THE TANK, RIGHT BENEATH THE REAR SEAT. I BOUGHT THIS CAR BECAUSE I THOUGHT IT WOULD BE SAFE FOR MY CHILD; I GUESS I WAS WRONG WHEN I FURTHER READ THAT MERCEDES IS DOING NOTHING ABOUT THIS PROBLEM AND THE NHTSA HAS BEEN DRAGGING IT'S FEET FOR 3 YEARS ON THIS MATTER. WOULD YOU FEEL SAFE DRIVING MY CAR, WITH YOUR SON OR DAUGHTER IN THE REAR SEAT, ONLY TO BE REAR ENDED ON THE HIGHWAY BY A TRUCK? I AM GOING TO GUESS THAT YOU WOULD SAY NO, AND THAT YOU WOULD FEAR FOR YOUR CHILD BEING BURNED ALIVE. PLEASE TAKE ACTION ON THIS MATTER NOW. *TR
The contact owns a 2007 Mercedes-Benz E350. The contact stated while driving approximately 65 MPH, the check engine warning light illuminated and with an abnormal sound coming from the gear shifter. The contact stated there was a failure with the transmission and the vehicle would not exceed 65 MPH. The transmission was replaced. The contact was unable to reach the manufacturer; however, several voicemails left for the manufacturer. The approximate failure mileage was 100,000.
PARKED CAR IN GARAGE AND THERE IS AN EXTREMELY STRONG GASOLINE ODOR THAT NOT ONLY FILLS THE GARAGE BUT HAS SEEPED IN TO THE HOUSE OVERNIGHT. POSSIBLE CATASTROPHIC EXPLOSION POTENTIAL. *TR
THE RIGHT REAR TAIL LIGHT IS OUT DO TO BAD ORIGINAL ELECTRIC WIRING AND CONNECTORS. THE PROBLEM IS COMMON AND WIDELY KNOWN AND THEY'VE RECALLED FOR C-CLASS BUT NOT FOR E-CLASS. BRAKE LIGHT WON'T FUNCTION BECAUSE CONNECTOR HAS MELTED. POTENTIAL FIRE WAITING TO HAPPEN NOW. *TR
FUEL IS LEAKING FROM TOP OF FUEL TANK WHEN TANK IS FULL, CAUSING ODOR INSIDE OF CABIN, AND FUEL TO DRIP ONTO GROUND. *TR
GAS GAUGE ONCE GETS TO 1/2 TANK NO LONGER SHOWS HOW MUCH GAS IS IN THE TANK SMELL GAS FUMES AFTER REFUELING. *TR
WHILE DRIVING, NORMAL ACCELERATION LAGGED MORE THAN USUAL. WHEN I SUBMITTED CAR FOR SERVICE, I WAS TOLD FOAM AROUND INJECTORS HAS MELTED INTO THE INJECTORS. THIS DAMAGED THREE INJECTORS ON ONE SIDE TO THE POINT OF COMPLETE REPLACEMENT (APPROXIMATELY $800 EACH). I WAS TOLD I CAUGHT THIS SITUATION EARLY. *TR

SMELLED GAS INSIDE VEHICLE AFTER FILLING UP, ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, AND THE SMELL WAS EXTREMELY OVERWHELMING WITH GAS FUMES. I HAD TO ROLL ALL WINDOWS AND SUNROOF DOWN IN 20 DEGREES WEATHER. CONTACTED MERCEDES BENZ ATLANTA ON PIEDMONT (ALL RECORDS ON FILE WITH UP KEEP OF VEHICLE MAINTENANCE) TO ADVISE. FIRST AVAILABLE APPOINTMENT WAS TUESDAY 8 AM. TOOK THE CAR TO BE REPAIRED AND I AM STUCK WITH A $1400 REPAIR BILL. I WAS TOLD BY MY SERVICE ADVISOR THAT IN 7 YEARS THE FUEL PUMP GOES OUT AND HAS TO BE REPLACED? REALLY MERCEDES? THIS IS A MANUFACTURE DEFECT AND THE CONSUMER SHOULD NOT BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR SOMETHING THIS MAJOR. SO MUCH FOR HIGH END TOP OF THE LINE. THIS IS CERTAINLY A DEFECT AND NEEDS TO BE RECALLED IMMEDIATELY. I WANT MY MONEY BACK AND MERCEDES NEED TO SEND MY CHECK IMMEDIATELY. I WILL THINK LONG AND HARD BEFORE I PURCHASE ANOTHER MERCEDES SINCE THIS IS THE NORMAL EXPECTANCY FOR MERCEDES UPSCALE PERFORMANCE. *TR

I BOUGHT MY CAR USED A COUPLE OF MONTHS AGO. THE LAST TWO TIMES I FILLED MY FUEL TANK I SMELL GAS IN MY GARAGE. WHEN I ONLY FILL TO 3/4 OR LESS THERE'S NO GAS SMELL. THE SMELL WILL SUBSIDE ONCE MY GAS DROPS TO 3/4 FULL. THIS WAS REPEATABLE BOTH TIMES I FILLED MY FUEL TANK. PLEASE REFERENCE NHTSA ACTION# PE12001. *TR
EVERY TIME THE GAS TANK IS FILLED 100% FULL (ONLY UNTIL GAS PUMP NOZZLE FIRST CLICK) AND THE CAR IS BEING DRIVEN FOR LESS THAN 20 MILES AND PARKED, I CAN SMELL VERY STRONG GASOLINE ODOR FROM OUTSIDE THE CAR. I HAVE TRIED TO FIND THE ISSUE AND LIFTED IT UP. WHAT CAN BE SEEN IS ABOUT 1OZ OF GASOLINE PUDDLE ON REAR UNDERCOVER (UNDERNEATH GAS TANK). OTHER THAN THAT, I CAN SEE LEAKED DRIED GASOLINE PATH ON THE SIDE OF THE TANK, WHICH POINTS TO THE LOCATION OF THE PUDDLE. THIS STRING GASOLINE ODOR ISSUE CANNOT BE SEEN OR SMELLED IF THE TANK IS FILLED ONLY 3/4 OF TANK VOLUME. THIS IS ISSUE HAS BEEN REPORTED TO MERCEDES BENZ SERVICE AT COLUMBIA, MO. HOWEVER, THEY QUOTED $600 JUST TO FIND THE ISSUE, EVEN THOUGH THIS IS CLEARLY MANUFACTURING DEFECT, SINCE HUNDREDS OF SIMILAR CASES CAN BE FOUND AT SEVERAL FORUMS AND SO MANY HAS BEEN REPORTED HERE. *TR
FILLED UP MY 2007 MERCEDES E350 ON 1/4/14 AND CAME HOME. I WAS AWAKENED BY A STRONG ODOR OF GAS SMELL. WENT INTO THE GARAGE AND WAS MEET WITH EVEN A STRONGER ODOR OF GASOLINE. THIS IS A DANGEROUS SITUATION DUE TO THE FACT THAT MY WATER HEATERS ARE LOCATED IN MY GARAGE AND I DON'T WANT TO HAVE AN EXPLOSION DUE TO THE VAPORS. I HAVE NOTICED MULTIPLE COMPLAINTS ON THIS ISSUE AND AN INVESTIGATION IS BEING DONE. I JUST HOPE THAT NO ONE IS INJURED OR KILLED BEFORE SOMETHING IS DONE TO TAKE CARE OF THIS. *TR

AFTER FUELING MY CAR, GASOLINE SMELL BECAME INTOLERABLY STRONG. I CALLED THE DEALER AND THEY TOLD ME THAT THE 2007 E350 IS KNOWN FOR LEAKS AND I SHOULD BRING IT FOR A DIAGNOSTIC CHECK. THE MANUFACTURER ACCORDING TO THE DEALER IS AWARE BUT NO FEDERAL ACTION HAS BEEN MANDATED. ESTIMATES COULD RANGE FROM $1000 TO $2000. BUMMER. *TR
MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WENT ON AND I IMMEDIATELY TOOK THE CAR TO MY MERCEDES DEALER WHO, AFTER INVESTIGATING, SAID THAT I HAD A LEAK IN THE SEAM OF MY FUEL TANK. THE LEAK WAS IN THE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT BUT I COULDN'T SENSE ANY GASOLINE ODOR. THE DEALER SAID THAT THE TANK HAD TO BE REPLACED AND THE CHARGE WOULD BE $2200. I LEFT THE CAR FOR REPAIR AND WHEN I PICKED IT UP THE DEALER SAID THEY WOULD PAY HALF THE COST. AFTER CHECKING REPORTS OF THE SAME PROBLEM ON THE WEB, I HAVE BEEN WONDERING IF MERCEDES IS COVERING UP A POTENTIALLY LETHAL DEFECT IN THAT MODEL. *TR
VERY STRONG SMELL OF GASOLINE OUTSIDE THE CAR WHEN PARKED; AND INSIDE WHEN DRIVING OR WHEN STOPPED WHILE DRIVING SLOW. THIS HAPPENED A DAY AFTER SERVICING THE CAR TRANSMISSION AT THE SAME DEALERSHIP.TOOK IT BACK TO DEALER, THEY CLAIM IT'S A VERY COMMON ISSUE AND THE CAR IS HAZARDOUS TO DRIVE BECAUSE GAS LEAK IS ON TOP OF EXHAUST AND CAN START A FIRE. IT NEEDED $3,000 REPAIRS (GAS TANK + FUEL PUMP & SENDING UNIT.) I WAS DRIVING A TIME BOMB WITH MY CHILDREN THE NIGHT BEFORE WITHOUT REALIZING IT. THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL FOR THIS DANGEROUS FACTORY DANGEROUS DESIGN & POOR ENGINEERING QUALITY OF GAS TANK. *TR

THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000.
I NOTICED A VERY STRONG ODOR OF FUEL IN MY GARAGE. WHEN I GOT IN THE CAR ODOR WAS EVEN STRONGER. I LOOKED ON THE FLOOR OF THE GARAGE BUT THERE WAS NO LIQUID ON MY FLOOR. I TOOK THE CAR TO A LOCAL MECHANIC AND THEY CALLED THE MERCEDES DEALERSHIP AND THE DEALER STATED IT WAS A KNOWN PROBLEM AND THE FUEL PUMP LEAKING AND WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. WHEN THE BACKSEAT WAS REMOVED THERE WAS FUEL ON TOP OF THE FUEL TANK. THIS FUEL PUMP WAS REPLACED BUT THE ODOR WAS STILL THERE. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE MERCEDES DEALER AND THEY KEPT THE CAR FOR A WEEK AND EXPLAINED TO ME THE FUEL TANK WAS LEAKING AND WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. AGAIN HE STATED THIS WAS A KNOWN PROBLEM. I INQUIRED HOW THIS WOULD BE POSSIBLE THAT A FIVE YEAR OLD FUEL TANK WOULD BE LEAKING. I STATED IT SOUNDS LIKE A MANUFACTURE DEFECT. THE TECHNICIAN INFORMED ME THAT IT WAS NOT A DEFECT BUT RATHER THE PART WAS DESIGNED JUST TO LAST HAT PERIOD OF TIME. I DISPUTE THAT EXPLANATION. I RECEIVED A QUOTE TO REPLACE THE TANK FOR $1,895. *TR

EXCESSIVE GAS SMELL INSIDE AND OUTSIDE OF VEHICLE. AFTER TIGHTENING THE GAS CAP AND TRYING TO FIGURE OUT WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS, I CONTACTED THE MAIN NEW JERSEY OFFICE JAN 24 TO REPORT THAT I WAS AFRAID TO DRIVE THE CAR ANY LONGER. THAT DAY, THE CAR WAS TOWED TO THE LOCAL MERCEDES BENZ; I WAS INITIALLY INFORMED THAT THE SMELL WAS DUE TO A LEAKING GAS TANK. HOWEVER THE LEAK WAS COMING FROM THE FUEL FILTER/SEAL/COVER RING FOR WHICH I WAS CHARGED $570.70 TO REPLACE. AT THAT TIME, MILEAGE WAS 128,318. *TR

MY CAR SMELL OF GAS FUMES WHEN I FILL UP. ONLINE RESEARCH HAS SHOWN ME THAT MANY OTHER MB OWNERS HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. THE MB GAS SENDING UNITS ARE LEAKING UNDER THE BACK SEAT. THERE WAS A RECALL FOR 2003 TO 2006 MODELS BUT NOT 2007 ALTHOUGH MANY 2007 MODELS HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. THE MERCEDES DEALERSHIP SAID THE FUEL TANK ITSELF WAS CRACKED ON THE TOP PART OF THE FUEL TANK WHERE THE 'NIPPLES' ARE THAT CONNECT THE HOSES TO THE CARBON CANISTER. I NOTICED ONLINE ON MERCEDES FORUMS THAT THIS IS A VERY COMMON COMPLAINT AND THAT THERE IS A LAWSUIT AGAINST MERCEDES FOR SUCH A COMMON DEFECT. *TR

I BELIEVE THIS IS SIMPLY ANOTHER INSTANCE WHERE THE FUEL SENDING UNITS ON A MERCEDES E350 W211 CHASSIS ARE LEAKING FUEL, CREATING AN EXTREMELY HAZARDOUS CONDITION. *JS
