MY CAR WILL JERK AS I'M DRIVING RPMS GOING HIGH WHILE NO SPEED IS PICKING UP. WITH JUMP OUT OF GEAR WHEN AT STOP LIGHT. LOUD GRINDING NOISE FROM TIRES COULD HAVE FOOT ALL THE WAY DOWN ON GAS PETAL AND GO NO FASTER.
THE GEAR SHAFT WILL STOP MY CAR FROM STARTING WHEN I TURN IT OFF. IT WILL ALSO MAKE MY CAR VUT OFF WHILE DRIVING..THE BUTTON ON THE GEAR STICK WILL GET STUCK AND I AM ABLE TO SHIFT GEARS...WHEN THE CAR IS NOT STARTED AND MY FOOT IS NOT ON THE BREAKS. EVEN WHEN THE BUTTON IS NOT STUCK, IT STILL WILL GET STUCK IN PARK AND WONT LET ME START MY CAR..A RECALL SHOULD BE STARTED..BECAUSE I HAVE SEEN OTHERS ON HERE WITH SIMILAR COMPLAINTS..SO ITS A MANUFACTURING ACCIDENT NOT THE CONSUMER.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 MERCURY MOUNTAINEER. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY, IT WOULD NOT REVERSE WHEN PROMPTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 154,758.
2ND MOUNTAINEER OWNED TRANSMISSION WILL NOT SHIFT IN LOW GEARS AND UNRESPONSIVE. STALLED IN TOWN AND ON HIGHWAY AT HIGH SPEEDS ALMOST CAUSING COLLISIONS SEVERAL TIMES AFTER BECOMING UNRESPONSIVE WHILE DRIVING.
HAVE SENT A COMPLAINT RECENTLY NO ONE HAS CONTACTED ME I'VE SEEN ON LINE HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS DUE TO FAULTY TRANSMISSIONS ON FORD, AND MERCURY MOUNTAINEER ESP 20001- THRU 2012 MODELS AND HAD A 2004 LAST YR. I HAD TO SEND TO JUNKYARD BECAUSE TRANSMISSION WAS BAD AND WOULD ALSO STOP WHILE DRIVING ESP. ON HIGHWAYS AT SPEEDS OVER 55 MPH MANY CLOSE CALLS AND LUCKY I WASNT INJURED OR KILLLED DUE TO TROUBLE WITH TRANSMISSION NOT SHIFTING AND BECOMING UNRESPONSIVE TO WHERE IT HAD TO BE TOWED SEVERAL TIMES WHEN TRANSMISSION BECAME UNRESPONSIVE NOW MY 2006 MOUNTAINEER AWD HAS SIMILAR PROBLEMS AND EVERY ONE I HAVE TRIED TO PURCHASE AS A REPLACEMENT ALSO HAS HAD PROBLEMS WITH THEIR TRANSMISSIONS FAILING SO NEED SOME ADVICE AS TO WHAT CAN BE DONE TO CORRECT THESE ISSUES!.....AS IN PAST I STATED IT FAILS LOSES POWER AND TRANSMISSION FAILS WHILE DRIVING ON HIGHWAY AFTER SLOWING DOWN OR COMING TO STOP AT LIGHTS OR STOP SIGNS IT USUALLY IS UNRESPONSIVE AND CANT GET OUT OF LOW GEAR AND OR COMPLETELY WILL NOT GO THRU GEARS NORMALLY!....HAVE HEARD ONLY 2011 MODELS HAVE BEEN RECALLED RECENTLY NOT FAIR IN MY OPINION THAT NO ONE HAS PAID ATTENTION TO THE EARLIER MODEL FORD EXPLORER AND MOUNTAINEER ESPECIALLY IN MY CASE O4-08 HAVE ALL HAD EXACT PROBLEMS SIMILAR TO MY CURRENT 06 MOUNTAINEER AWD....AS SEVERALMECHANICS RECENTLY REFUSE TO WORK ON IT TELLING ME THEY ARE NOT WORTH THEIR TIME AND NO GUARANTEES AS THEY FEEL THAT THEY ARE ALL FAULTY FROM 02-2012 AND ALL SHULD HAVE BEEN RECALLED DUE TO SAFETY ISSUES!.....IN MY OPINION I BELIEVE THIS SHULD BE LOOKED INTO BEFORE IT BECOMEWS THE CAUSE OF AN ACCIDENT OR WORSE...I AM DISABLED AND NEED A SAFER VEHICLE AND IN HOPES FORD WILL MAKE RIGHT BY ME AND POSSIBLY LOOK INTO AND OR SEE ABOUT A RECALL ON MY 06 MERCURY MOUNTAINEER!. I HAVE GONE THROUGH 3 RADIATORS SO FAR AND NOW I NEED A 4TH. THIS TIME, THE RADIATOR CAUSED THE PUMPS TO START LEAKING ( WHICH ARE NOT SERVICEABLE) AND EVENTUALLY RUINED MY TRANSMISSION, RENDERING THE TRUCK NON-DRIVABLE. THIS PROBLEM HAS COST ME THOUSANDS OF DOLLAR AND I WANT A RECALL TO START ON THIS PART WITH FORD. *TR
TRUCK COOLING SYSTEM DIED WHICH CAUSED THE TRUCK TO CATCH FIRE WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY, SMOKE PORING OUT, STATE TROOPERS HAD TO ASSIST US. MY DAUGHTER WAS SCARED TO DEATH AND NOW REFUSES TO GET BACK IN THE TRUCK EVEN THOUGH WE GOT A NEW ENGINE. TO MAKE MATTERS WORSE WE SPENT 3000 ON AND ENGINE...500 ON COOLING SYSTEM AND HAD THE TRANSMISSION REPROGRAMMED. THE TRUCK IS STILL HAVE MAJOR PROBLEMS AND NOW FOR SAYS IT NEEDS THE TRANSMISSION REBUILT OR REPLACED. ALL OF THIS IS OUT OF POCKET. WE CANT EVEN TRADE IT IN BC THEY WILL ONLY GIVE US 1/2 OF WHAT WE PAID FOR IT 2 YRS AGO. NIGHTMARE AND MAKES ME SICK THAT FORD DOESN'T CARE. *TR
I PURCHASED THE 2006 MERCURY MOUNTAINEER IN JULY 2011. WHEN I WENT TO TAKE THE KIDS ON VACATION THE CAR HESITATED AND STOPPED ON THE HIGHWAY THEN FELT LIKE WE WERE REAR ENDED, VERY DANGEROUS WITH THE HESITATION ON ACCELERATION ALMOST CRASHED. CALLED THE PLACE I PURCHASED THEY HAVE NOW REPLACED THE TORQUE CONVERTER AND RESET THE TCM THE VEHICLE IS EVEN WORSE AND THEY ALSO HAVE HAD IT FOR 34 DAYS ON AND OFF. CALLED FORD THEY SAID THEY HAVE NO PROGRAM TO FIX AND WILL NOT REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION WHICH NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. THE DEALER REPORTS WITHOUT A BAD CODE EVEN THOUGH THEY KNOW THE VEHICLE IS HAZARDOUS THEY CANNOT FIND THE PROBLEM TO FIX, I SAID PLEASE JUST REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION AND UNFORTUNATELY TO NO AVAIL I HAVE PURCHASED A $18,000 HAZARD THAT I ONLY WAS ABLE TO DRIVE FOR 30 DAYS, TRADED MY OTHER VEHICLE AND GAVE THEM $1600 CASH FOR DOWNPAYMENT I JUST WANT MY VEHICLE FIXED.... *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 MERCURY MOUNTAINEER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD LUNGE BACKWARDS WHEN DRIVING IN REVERSE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER BUT THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE CAUSE OF FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE ISSUE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 52,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 55,000.

ONE DEALER TOLD ME THE SHIFT NEEDED TO CHANGED YET AGAIN AND NOW WHEN THE CAR IS TAKEN OUT OF PARK INTO ANY GEAR IT WONT MOVE IT TAKES ABOUT 25 MINS TO ACTUALLY PUT INTO GEAR. THE DEALER SAID IT WAS A SHIFT SOLENOID I HAD IT REPLACED A TRANSMISSION FLUSH AND REPROGRAM AND STILL THE SAME PROBLEM THE CAR ONLY HAS 62,000 MILES. *TR

SHE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER WHO STATED THAT THE SHIFT SOLENOID NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AND THE TRANSMISSION FLUSHED. THE DEALER PERFORMED THE REPAIRS AND THE FOLLOWING DAY THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO EXPERIENCE THE SAME FAILURE. THE VEHICLE ALSO MADE A LOUD THUMPING NOISE WHILE SHIFTING INTO REVERSE. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER AND WAS WAITING FOR THEM TO COMPLETE THE DIAGNOSTIC TEST. THE WAS CONCERNED SINCE THE FAILURE WAS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE THAT NEEDED TO BE ADDRESSED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 62,000.

2006 MERCURY MOUNTAINEER V8 AWD--WHEN SHIFTING FROM PARK TO DRIVE OR REVERSE IT "CLUNKS" HARD INTO GEAR. THE WRENCH SYMBOL AND THE ENGINE SYMBOL LIGHT UP. THE VEHICLE ALSO DRIVES HARD AS IF IT ISN'T CHANGING GEARS. THE DEALERSHIP WILL ONLY SAY THAT THE FORD TSB RECOMMENDS REPLACING THE TRANSMISSION FLUID AND FILTER, THEN RESEALING WITH FOAM SEAL FIRST BUT REFUSES TO GIVE ME AN ACTUAL DIAGNOSIS OF WHAT IS GOING ON WITH THE CAR. THEY CAN NOT TELL ME THE REAL PROBLEM AND INSIST THAT WE WILL HAVE TO WORK THROUGH THE VARIOUS STEPS ON THE FORD TSBS WHICH MAY OR MAY NOT WORK (BY THEIR OWN ADMISSION) AND THE COST OF FINAL REPAIRS IS COMPLETELY OPEN ENDED. WHEN I QUESTIONED WHAT WE WOULD TRY NEXT AFTER THE TRANSMISSION FLUID/FILTER REPLACEMENT (BECAUSE I WAS SKEPTICAL ABOUT THIS CAUSING THE ISSUE ON A VEHICLE WITH ONLY 43,000 MILES) THEY HAD NO ANSWERS AT ALL. WE HAVE OWNED THIS VEHICLE LESS THAN A YEAR. AN INTERNET SEARCH REVEALS THAT THIS IS A MAJOR ONGOING PROBLEM WITH THIS MODEL BUT FORD REFUSES TO OWN UP TO IT. THERE NEEDS TO BE A RECALL. *TR

HAVE HEARD FROM MANY THERE PEOPLE WITH 2006 FORD EXPLORERS THAT THERE IS A MANUFACTURER DEFECT IN THE TRANSMISSION. HAVE HAD CHIP REPROGRAMMED AT DEALERSHIP (WAS CHARGED) AND ALSO HAD TRANSMISSION FLUSHED AND IT IS ACTUALLY WORSE NOW. MY CAR HAS HAD A CONTINUING PROBLEM WITH THE TRANSMISSION. IT SHIFTS ROUGHLY AND LURCHES WHEN BEGINNING TO MOVE. FOR EXAMPLE, WHEN STOPPED AT A STOPLIGHT, AND THEN BEGINNING TO DRIVE, IT WILL LURCH, JOLTING THE PASSENGERS. OUR DRIVEWAY IS SLOPED TOWARD THE STREET. WHEN I PARK THE CAR, I ALWAYS SET THE EMERGENCY BRAKE AS WELL. THE CAR ALWAYS ROLLS A FEW INCHES BEFORE THE BRAKES LOCK, EVEN THOUGH IT IS STOPPED AND IN PARK. ON SEP. 4, 2009, MY MOTHER BORROWED MY CAR TO GO TO LUNCH. SHE COULDN'T FIND THE EMERGENCY BRAKE RELEASE. SHE PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND GOT OUT TO LOCATE THE EMERGENCY BRAKE. SHE FOUND IT AND RELEASED IT. THE CAR POPPED INTO REVERSE AND ROLLED BACKWARDS TO THE STREET. THE DOOR KNOCKED MY MOTHER DOWN AND SHE HIT HER HEAD HARD ENOUGH TO SUSTAIN A CLOSED HEAD INJURY WITH MINOR BLEEDING IN HER BRAIN. THE CAR ROLLED ACROSS THE STREET, OVER THE CURB AND HIT A NEIGHBOR'S POPLAR TREE. THE ENTIRE TAILGATE WAS DESTROYED, THERE WAS SOME INTERIOR DAMAGE AND THE FRAME WAS WARPED. THE TAILGATE HAD TO BE REPLACED, THE BUMPER AND TRAILER HITCH HAD TO BE REPAIRED AND THE FRAME STRAIGHTENED. MY MOTHER WAS IN HOSPITAL OVERNIGHT AND HAD TO HAVE TWO CT-SCANS. SHE STILL HAS HEADACHES AND TRANSIENT DIZZINESS. WE ARE JUST FORTUNATE THE CAR DIDN'T RUN HER OVER, HIT A PEDESTRIAN (THERE ARE A LOT OF WALKERS IN OUR NEIGHBORHOOD), HIT A CAR OR A NEIGHBOR'S HOUSE. *TR
PURCHASED IN JUNE 2009 AND HAVE HAD PROBLEM AFTER PROBLEM. MOUNTAINEER PREMIER AWD. TRANSMISSION ISSUE, FEELS LIKE YOU'RE GETTING HIT FROM BEHIND WHEN COMING TO A STOP. RADIATOR LEAKS. BACK LIFT GATE RANDOMLY OPENS, WON'T LATCH. WHEN IT RAINS, WATER COMES IN THROUGH THE INTERIOR LIGHT MOUNT AND THROUGH DVD PLAYER. SPARK PLUGS NOT EASILY REPLACED, BROKE OFF AND HAD TO BE TOWED TO A SHOP FOR REMOVAL. GAS UNABLE TO BE PUMPED PROPERLY I CAN PUT IN .25 AT A TIME IF I'M LUCKY. IT TAKES 20 MINUTES TO PUMP HALF A TANK OF GAS. I LOVE THE FEATURES THIS VEHICLE HAS BUT THIS HAS BEEN SUCH A HASSLE. *TR

TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP 3 TIMES AND NOTHING, NOW I AM FIGHTING WITH GRAND LEDGE FORD, GRAND LEDGE, MI TO GET IT FIX OR REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION BEFORE SOMEONE GET SERIOUSLY HURT OR EVEN DIES.
