FORD'S VENDORS THAT FABRICATE THESE PARTS SHOULD BE UPDATED WITH MODERN PROCEDURES TO APPLY CORROSION PREVENTED COATINGS ON THESE PARTS PROPERLY. SHOULD BE A RECALL ON THESE SECTIONS FOR REPAIR... NO ACCIDENTS, NO ISSUES, AS TIME GOES ON THERE MAYBE PROBLEMS IN THE FUTURE WITH FORD PRODUCTS SUB FRAME CORROSION RESULTING IN ACCIDENTS ON ROADS.

I HAVE A 2006 MERCURY MOUNTAINEER WITH AUTO RUNNING BOARDS. THE RUNNING BOARDS SEEM TO HAVE A MIND OF THEIR OWN. BOTH HAVE BEEN REPLACED BY THE DEALER, THE LATEST WAS 5-5-09. TODAY WHEN OUR DAUGHTER WAS ENTERING THE PASSENGER SIDE THE RUNNING BOARD OPENED UP LIKE IT WAS SUPPOSED TO BUT CLOSED AT ONCE ONTO OUR DAUGHTER FOOT. THE PASSENGER DOOR WAS STILL OPEN WHEN IT CLOSED AND THE RUNNING BOARD WOULD NOT RETRACT. WE WERE VERY LUCKY NOT TO HAVE SUFFERED SERIOUS INJURY. IF SHE HAD BEEN 7 INSTEAD OF 15 I WOULD HATE TO THINK WHAT MIGHT HAVE HAPPENED. *TR
Complaints are unverified consumer reports submitted to NHTSA. A high complaint count may reflect vehicle popularity, not defect severity. Data sourced from NHTSA public records.
