THE CAP INDICATOR LIGHT IS ON. AFTER CHECKING IT SEVERAL TIMES I WAS INFORMED BY AN AUTO TECHNICIAN THAT THE NECK OF THE FUEL PIPE NEEDS TO BE REPLACE.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 MERCURY SABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THERE WAS A FUEL ODOR PRESENT INSIDE OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 154,000.
EXITED FROM THE HIGHWAY TO REFUEL. UPON FUELING WE INTENDED TO CONTINUE OUR TRIP AS PLANNED. CAR STOPPED AT LIGHT BEGAN TO ACCELERATE FOR 5-10 FEET. ENGINE MADE A REVVING SOUND AND ALL POWER WAS LOST. ALL FUELS LOOK GOOD AND THIS CAR HAS LESS THAN 20,000 MILES TOTAL BECAUSE IT WAS USED SPARINGLY BY PREVIOUS OWNER. NO LIGHTS OR INDICATION GAVE WARNING THAT TRANSMISSION WOULD LOSE POWER. WE ARE NOW SEEING ONLINE THAT THIS IS AN ISSUE. I HAD PREVIOUSLY CALLED DEALER BUT KEPT GETTING HUNG UP ON. I AM A WIDOW WITH CHILDREN AND DO NOT HAVE THE MONEY TO JUST TOW THE CAR TO BE FIXED AS THIS WAS OUR ONLY TRANSPORTATION WE HAVE BEEN LIMITED ON ACTUALLY TRAVELING TO THE DEALERSHIP SO THEY CAN CHECK RECALL INFORMATION FOR US. *TR
I DROVE MY MERCURY SABLE 2000 TODAY. JUST SECONDS AFTER I GOT OFF FROM A HIGHWAY TO A LOCAL ROAD, MY FILLED MY CAR ACCELERATED WHEN I HIT THE BRAKE. I HAD TO HIT THE BRAKE HARD TO STOP THE CAR IN A TRAFFIC LIGHT. HOWEVER, THE ENGINE RUSHED TO 4000RPM. I SWITCHED TO PARK GEAR AND TURNED OFF THE IGNITION. AFTER A FEW SECONDS, I TURNED ON THE CAR AGAIN BUT THE ENGINE RUSHED TO 4000RMP. HAD NO IDEA WHAT HAPPENED. WAIT FOR A MINUTE AND TURNED THE CAR ON AGAIN. SAME PROBLEM EXISTS. IN THE PARK POSITION, I HIT THE GAS PEDAL GENTLY AND THE ENGINE RUNNING BACK TO NORMAL. THEN I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE THE CAR BACK HOME (~10MILES). IT WAS SO SCARY AND HAVE NO IDEA WHEN THIS PROBLEM WILL COME BACK AGAIN. *TR
WE HAD A SMALL EXPLOSION IN FUEL INJECTION AREA THAT SHREDDED THE AIR INTAKE MANIFOLD. MY WIFE WAS ATTEMPTING TO START THE CAR AT THE TIME. THERE WERE NO INJURIES AND NO VISIBLE FIRE DAMAGE, BUT IT WAS VERY LOUD. THE DEALER WAS NICE ENOUGH TO GIVE US A LOANER FOR A WEEK WHILE THEY REPAIRED THE DAMAGE. WE HOPE IT DOESN'T HAPPEN AGAIN, BUT THOUGHT IT WAS WORTH REPORTING IN CASE OTHER SABLES ARE HAVING EXPLOSIONS.ENOUGH TO GIVE US A LOANER AND .*AK
WELL THIS IS REALLY NOT A DEFECT JUST VERY BAD DESIGN,MY 2000 MERCURY SABLE HAS NO SHIELD OF ANY KIND OVER,ON OR AROUND THE FUEL TANK THAT HANGS A FOOT OR LESS OFF OF THE HIGHWAY.I WAS DRIVING MY CAR DOWN THE ROAD AND NEVER HEARD OR SAW ANYTHING ON THE ROAD,BUT EVIDENTALLY RAN OVER SOMETHING SMALL AND IT RUPTURED THE FUEL TANK ON THE CAR AND I LOST ALL OF THE GAS WHILE I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD,NOW THAT IS A BIG HAZARD IF I WOULD HAVE RAN OVER A LIT CIGARETTE.....BOOM. THEY NEED TO DESIGN A COVER OR SHIELD OF SOME SORT TO PREVENT A POSSIBLE BAD ACCIDENT.
UPON STARTING VEHICLE THERE WAS A LOUD BOOM WITH A CLOUD OF BLUE SMOKE FROM ENGINE COMPARTMEN, DESTROYING INTAKE MANIFOLD. WARRANTY COVERED REPAIRS. DEALER COULD ONLY GUESS WHAT PROBLEM WAS. *AK
VEHICLE BLEWUP. CONSUMER OUT OF CAR WHEN HE SMELLED GAS. TOWED VEHICLE TO DEALER. DEALER INDICATED INTAKE MANIFOLD EXPLODED OR BACKFIRED. *AK
GAS FUMES/ODOR IN PASSENGER'S COMPARTMENT. ALSO, ODOR CAN BE SMELLED AROUND HOOD, AND IN ENGINE COMPARTMENT. CONSUMER HAS CONTACTED DEALER. DEALER NOTICED PROBLEM, AND HAD REPLACED FUEL INJECTION SYSTEM, PROBLEM STILL OCCURRED. DEALER UNSURE WHAT WAS CAUSING PROBLEM. *AK
