I WENT TO DEALER/SELLER TO REPORT CRACKS AROUND SIDEWALL THAT APPEAR TO BE DEFECTS. THE DEALER REFUSED TO REPLACE THE TIRES. I FEAR THAT THEY ARE DEFECTIVE AND THAT I MIGHT BE HARMED. THEY SAID IT IS "WEATHER DAMAGE" I KNOW WHAT WEATHER DAMAGE IS ON TIRES, AND THIS AIN'T IT. PLEASE HELP. THIS IS A FORD PRODUCT, AND THEY ARE RUNNING SCARED. NORMALLY, THEY ARE COOPERATIVE ABOUT REPAIRS. THEY SHOT ME DOWN, FAST...TRYING TO COVER THEIR ASSES. PLEASE INVESTIGATE FALTY CONTINENTAL TIRES ON FORD/MERCURY TAURUS/SABLE FOR YEAR 2000. CONSUMER STATED THAT DOUGHNUT TIRE ON VEHICLE WASN'T UP TO SAFETY STANDARD AS STATED IN FEDERAL MOTOR SAFETY STANDARDS 110 IN NEW TIRE MANUAL. THIS CONSUMER WASN'T SATIFIED. HE HAS SPOKEN WITH DEALER.*AK CONSUMER FEELS THE SAFETY LABELS SHOULD INCLUDE MAXIMUM LOAD, OCCUPANT NUMBER, AND LUGGAGE LOAD. *SLC
WE WERE ON A TRIP ON SEPTEMBER 20, 2000 ON A NORTHERN CALIFORNIA HIGHWAY TRAVELING ABOUT 58 MPH WHEN THE LEFT REAR TIRE BLEW OUT. THE CAR HAD ABOUT 1200 MILES ON IT AT THAT TIME. A TOW TRUCK ARRIVED AND THE OPERATOR CHANGED THE TIRE AND STATED THAT THE TIRE WAS UNREPAIRABLE DUE TO SIDEWALL FAILURE. WE DROVE TO THE LES SCHWAB TIRE DEALER IN BURNEY. CA. THEY AGREED THE TIRE WAS UNREPAIRABLE AND SOLD US A REPLACEMENT TIRE FOR $84. THE TIRE DEALER TOLD US TO GO BACK WHERE WE BOUGHT THE CAR TO GET REIMBURSED FOR THE COST OF THE NEW TIRE. THE LITHIA MOTORS SERVICE DEPARTMENT TOOK POSSESSION OF THE DEFECTIVE TIRE, ORDERED AND EVENTUALLY REPLACED IT WITH ONE OF THE SAME BRAND AND SIZE, AND STATED THEY WOULD REIMBURSE US FOR THE COST OF THE LES SCHWAB TIRE. I ASKED FOR ALL THE TIRES TO BE REPLACED SINCE I WAS AFRAID ANOTHER TIRE WOULD FAIL. THEY SAID THERE WERE NO RECALLS FOR THAT TIRE AND THEY WOULD NOT REPLACE ANY OTHER TIRES. *AK (DOT NUMBER: ACX8 TIRESIZE: R21560R16)
VEHICLE HAS A FIRESTONE TOURING T3 TIRES, TIRE SIZE P21560R16, AND DOT NUMBER NOT AVAILABLE. WHEN DRIVING LEFT REAR TIRE TREAD SEPARATED FROM TIRE, TIRE ONLY HAS 3700 MILES. CONSUMER HAS CONTACTED DEALER, DEALER HAS REPLACED THE TIRES. PLEASE PROVIDE ANY FURTHER DETAILS. *AK *SLC
THE ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT TIRES OFFER POOR PERFORMANCE, ESPECIALLY IN THE RAIN. THE CAR WAS SO BAD IN THE RAIN THAT MY WIFE REFUSED TO DRIVE THE CAR. THE OE TIRES HAVE A TREADWEAR RATING OF 520. I AM AFRAID THAT THE RUBBER IS SO HARD (WHICH WILL GIVE LONG LIFE) THAT GRIP WAS SACRIFICED. I CHANGED THE TIRES TO CONTINENTAL CONTITOURING CONTACT CH95 WHICH HAVE A TREADWEAR RATING OF 360. THESE TIRES ARE ALSO ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT ON BMW, MERCEDES, VOLVO, AUDI AMONG OTHERS. THE CAR IS MUCH IMPROVED. WET PERFORMANCE IS MUCH, MUCH BETTER AND DRY PERFORMANCE IS IMPROVED ALSO. MY WIFE NOW FEELS SAFE DRIVING THE CAR. I DON'T KNOW IF THIS IS REALLY A DEFECT, BUT I WANTED YOU TO KNOW. THANKS. *AK( DOT NUMBER: TIRE SIZE: P215/60R16 )
