SUBFRAME BROKE BETWEEN THE REAR WHEELS WHILE DRIVING ON CITY STREET. MECHANIC INSPECTED IT AND SUBFRAME IS RUSTED FROM INSIDE OUT. MILEAGE ON THE CAR IS 150,000 MILES AND I AM THE FIRST OWNER THAT TOOK VERY GOOD CARE OF THE CAR, FROM KEEPING IT IN MY GARAGE, TO REGULAR MAINTENANCE AND CAR WASHING TO PREVENT RUST. CAR IS INOPERABLE WAITING FOR THE PART TO COME IN FOR REPLACEMENT FOR 6 DAYS. NISSAN HAD A RECALL ON THIS MODEL FOR 2003-2007 YEAR OF MANUFACTURING, HOWEVER I HAD NOT RECEIVED ANY NOTICE.
THIS PROBLEM HAS BEEN GOING ON SINCE 2013. POWER STEERING LEAKAGE. 3 MECHANICS CHECKED CAR COULDN'T FIND LEAK. I ENDED UP CARRYING FLUID WITH ME CAUSE I NEVER KNEW WHEN IT WOULD GO OUT. THE 4TH MECHANIC CHANGED THE POWER STEERING PRESSURE SWITCH THAT WASN'T THE PROBLEM. HE HAS NOW FOUND THAT THE CARE LEAKS WHEN NOT IN MOTION. A POWER STEERING RACK HAS BEEN ORDERED
VEHICLE TAKES MINUTES TO PICK UP SPEED ESPECIALLY TRUE WHEN IT IS ON A STOP POSITION EITHER IN AN INTERSECTION OR TRAFFIC LIGHT INTERSECTION. I PUT MY FOOT ON THE GAS AND PRESS ALL THE WAY DOWN WHERE IT SLOWLY MOVES, PICK UP A SPEED AND DO THE SAME THING FOR EACH STOP SIGN OR TRAFFIC STOP LIGHT. WHEN STARTING THE VEHICLE, IT MAKES A SCREECHING SOUND. IF ABLE TO DRIVE, STEERING WHEEL SOMETIMES HAVE THAT SLIGHT SHAKING. WE HAVE BEEN EXPERIENCING THESE ISSUES FOR MORE THAN A YEAR NOW. TIRES WERE CHANGED AND BRAKES CHANGED BUT ISSUES STILL A BIG CONCERN.
I AM THE ORIGINAL OWNER OF 2005 MURANO. I NOTICED A PROBLEM WITH HYDROPLANING SOON AFTER PURCHASE, AND HAVE ALWAYS BEEN EXTREMELY CAREFUL AND ON GUARD WHEN DRIVING IN RAIN OR EVEN WHEN STREETS ARE WET. THIS WOULD HAPPEN WITH BRAND NEW TIRES AND TIRES THAT WERE SLIGHTLY WORN SO THE TIRES DON'T SEEM TO BE THE PROBLEM, UNLESS ITS THE TYPE OF TIRE BUT ITS NOT THE TREAD ON THE TIRE. THE CAR CAME WITH GOODYEAR EAGLE P235/65 R18 TIRES AND I HAVE REPLACED WITH SAME TIRES WHEN NISSAN SERVICE DEPARTMENT ADVISED OF TREAD WEAR. ON JULY 22, 2013 I WAS ON MY WAY HOME FROM GATLINBURG WITH DAUGHTER AND 2 YEAR OLD GRANDDAUGHTER IN CAR. WE WERE CAUGHT IN DOWNPOUR GOING THROUGH KNOXVILLE. I TRULY CANNOT BELIEVE WE ARE ALIVE. MY CAR WOULD CONTINUALLY LOSE TRACTION AND IT WOULD SLIDE TO ONE SIDE UNTIL IT WOULD GRAB TRACTION BEFORE GOING OFF THE ROAD OR WRECKING. SOMETHING IS TERRIBLY WRONG WITH THE MURANO IN REGARDS TO HYDROPLANING. I ALSO HAVE HAD THE PROBLEM WITH THE DRIVER'S SIDE VISOR COMING DOWN AND WILL NOT STAY UP SINCE A COUPLE YEARS AFTER I BOUGHT THE CAR. I LOVE EVERYTHING ELSE ABOUT MY MURANO AND DUE TO HYDROPLANING SAFETY ISSUE I WILL NOT BE PURCHASING ANOTHER ONE. PLEASE TAKE THIS ISSUE UP WITH NISSAN BEFORE PEOPLE ARE KILLED. AT APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH STEERING WHEEL WOULD SHAKE AS AN OUT OF BALANCE CONDITION. I HAD THE TIRES RE-BALANCED AND COULD NOT RESOLVE THE STEERING WHEEL SHAKING. DID NOT DO ANY HIGHWAY DRIVING FOR A LONG PERIOD OF TIME. PRIOR TO GOING ON VACATION I HAD TIRES RE-BALANCED, DURING THE HIGHWAY DRIVING THE STEERING WHEEL SHAKING WAS AGAIN VISIBLE AND COULD ALSO BE FELT IN THE STEERING WHEEL. LOWER CONTROL ARM WAS REPLACED WITH NO RESOLVE OF THE SHAKING STEERING WHEEL. TIRE DEALER REPLACED TIRES AT A COST TO ME OF $400.00. BACK TO CAR DEALERSHIP, REPLACED TIRE ROD END THAT COULD BE THE CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM ON THE DRIVE HOME STEERING WHEEL SHAKING AT HIGHWAY SPEED OF 65 MPH. BACK TO DEALERSHIP WHO HAD TWO DIFFERENT MECHANICS TEST DRIVE THE CAR AND THEY SAID THAT THEY COULD NOT REPLICATE THE SHAKING, THEY MUST HAVE HELD ON TO THE STEERING WHEEL WITH A GORILLA GRIP. I HAVE A SHORT VIDEO OF THIS SHAKING STEERING WHEEL. WIFE AND I WENT TO TEST DRIVE A NEWER USED 2009 NISSAN MURANO WITH THE SAME APPROXIMATE MILEAGE, MY CAR NOW AT 88,000, SAME VISIBLE SHAKING IF NOT WORSE. SOLVED PROBLEM BY TRADING IN THE CAR. NOW MAYBE THE DEALERSHIP WILL FIX THE PROBLEM AT THEIR EXPENSE, NOT MINE. *JB
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 NISSAN MURANO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DRIVER'S SEAT FRAME DETACHED AND LEANED TOWARDS THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR. THE CONTACT PLACED A STACK OF BRICKS TO KEEP THE SEAT STEADY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. IN ADDITION, THE POWER STEERING LINE DETACHED AND LEAKED FLUID. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE POWER STEERING LINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE TECHNICIAN CLAMPED THE POWER STEERING LINE; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURES. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 65,000.

TRAVELING ON A CURVE AT APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH WHEN APPROACHING THE EXIT/CURVE, HEARD NOISE ON FRONT RIGHT HAND SIDE. RELEASED FOOT OFF THE ACCELERATOR AND WHEN I TRIED TO STEER I COULD NOT MANEUVER IT AS I WANTED. I HIT THE CONCRETE DIVIDER ON THE ROAD, ROLLED OVER AND ENDED UP ON THE OTHER LANE ON THE DIVIDER ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE CAR WAS A TOTAL LOSS BUT I SURVIVED. I BELIEVE SOMETHING POPPED RELATED TO THE STEERING OF THE CAR. HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE. *TT
IT SEEMS THAT I HAVE ALL OF THE WELL KNOWN PROBLEMS WITH THE NISSAN MURANO. I GOT THE AIR BAG LIGHT THAT WON'T TURN OFF WHICH TO ME IS A MAJOR SAFETY AND VERY DANGEROUS ISSUE. I HEARD THAT IN CASE OF AN ACCIDENT THE AIR BAGS AND SEAT BELTS WON'T WORK. NISSAN NEEDS TO ADDRESS THIS PROBLEM ASAP BEFORE SOMEONE OR MULTIPLE PEOPLE LOSE THEIR LIFE BECAUSE OF THEIR LACK OF RESPONSIBILITY. ANOTHER PROBLEM I HAVE IS NONE OF DOOR ACTUATORS WORK INCLUDING THE REAR HATCH DOOR EXCEPT FOR THE DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR THAT DOOR IS THE ONLY DOOR THAT UNLOCKS AND LOCKS WHICH I ALSO THINK IT'S ANOTHER SAFETY ISSUE. I ALSO HAVE THE BAD POWER STEERING RACK WHICH I MENTIONED A LOT IS A SAFETY ISSUE. THE STEERING HAS SO MUCH PLAY THAT ITS DIFFICULT TO DRIVE I WISH NISSAN WOULD STEP UP TO THE PLATE AND ADMIT THAT THESE SHOULD BE REPAIRED BECAUSE OF THEIR BAD ENGINEERING WITH THESE TRUCKS. *TR
HIGH SIDE POWER STEERING HOSE ON NISSAN MURANO. 2003-2007 THIS IS A FIRE HAZARD. A FACTORY RECALL SHOULD BE ISSUED FOR THE HIGH SIDE POWER STEERING FLUID LINE ON THE NISSAN MURANO. THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE WITH THE NISSAN MURANO FROM MY RESEARCH ON THE INTERNET. THE DEXTRON FLUID IS HIGHLY FLAMMABLE! THERE WAS NO WARRANTY OR RECALL RELATED TO THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WERE 70,650. 2005 NISSAN MURANO PURCHASED MAY 2005~ 13,000 MILES: I WAS IN PROCESS OF A Y TURN. WHEN I PUT THE CAR IN REVERSE TO BACK UP, THE CAR WOULD NOT MOVE, I PUT THE CAR IN DRIVE IN MADE AN ATTEMPT TO DRIVE FORWARD. THE CAR DID NOT MOVE. THINKING MAYBE I MIGHT BE ON SOMETHING, I PUT CAR IN PARK, GOT OUT AND LOOKED AROUND AND UNDERNEATH MY WHEELS. NOTHING. GOT BACK IN THE CAR AND TRIED TO BACK UP AGAIN. CAR WOULD NOT MOVE. I GOT OUT, STOOD IN FRONT OF THE CAR AND LOOKED AT IT. I COULD READILY SEE THE LEFT FRONT WHEEL WAS TURNED IN THE DIRECTION THEY WERE SUPPOSED TO BE SINCE I WAS IN THE PROCESS OF A Y TURN. HOWEVER, THE RIGHT WHEEL WAS FACING THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION. I KNEW THIS CAR WASN'T GOING NO WHERE. BUT FOR THE LIFE OF ME I DID NOT GET HOW THAT COULD SUDDENLY BE. I DID NOT HIT ANYTHING. THE PAVEMENT WAS FLAT. NO CURBS, NO NOTHING IN THE WAY! I WAS STUCK BLOCKING MY CUL DU SAC. I CALLED THE DEALER. I TALKED TO A GUY IN SERVICE DEPARTMENT. I TOLD HIM WHAT THE SITUATION WAS. HE SAID, "IT SOUNDS LIKE TIE RODS ARE SHOT." I SAID, "ON A NEW CAR?" HE SAID, I WILL CALL THE TOW DRIVER. THERE IS NO VISIBLE DAMAGE UNDERNEATH OR ANYWHERE ON THE VEHICLE TO INDICATE I HIT ANYTHING OR THAT ANYTHING HIT ME. I DID NOT RUN OVER OR HIT ANYTHING. I WAS JUST IN THE PROCESS OF A Y TURN. THE TOW DRIVER ARRIVED. HE WALKED AROUND THE VEHICLE AS I TOLD HIM WHAT HAPPENED. HE SAID, "THIS IS GOING TO BE A PROBLEM!" AS THE CAR WAS BEING PULLED ONTO THE FLATBED TRAILER TOW, I CRINGED, COVERING MY FACE FROM THE NOISE OF METAL CRUSHING AND BENDING. I KNEW WHATEVER WAS WRONG WITH MY CAR WAS NOW ENHANCED BY THE TOW. IT IS DEFINITELY THE TIE ROD. THE DAMAGE IS $5,000.00. THE RESULT, THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT SAID I HIT SOMETHING AND NISSAN WON'T PAY. I KNOW IT IS A PARTS FAILURE OR MANUFACTURING DEFECT. MY CAR IS ON RACK AT DEALER NOW SO ANY ASAP INFO WOULD BE APPRECIATED. *NM
