WHEN YOU FUEL UP THE FUEL GAUGE DROPS TO EMPTY. IT WILL LATER GO TO FULL PUT THE ENGINE SERVICE LIGHT COMES ON. TO GET THE LIGHT TO GO OFF YOU HAVE TO HAVE SOMEONE CLEAR THE CODE OR DISCONNECT THE BATTERY CABLE. I FOUND A LARGE NUMBER OF PEOPLE WHO HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEMS WITH THEIR NISSAN VEHICLES. *TR
I BOUGHT A USED 2007 NISSAN PATHFINDER IN APRIL 2010. EVERY SINGLE TIME I FILL UP THE TANK, SINCE THE VERY FIRST TIME, IMMEDIATELY AFTER GETTING THE GAS, THE GAS GAUGE READS AS EMPTY. TWO TO THREE DAYS LATER IT GOES BACK TO NORMAL. THE SERVICE ENGINE SOON LIGHT IS CONSTANTLY ON. NISSAN DEALER SAYS IT'S THE SENDING UNIT AND IS $700 TO FIX. I HAVEN'T DONE IT YET. I HAVE SEEN MANY MANY SIMILAR COMPLAINTS ONLINE. SOME 2006 AND 2008 NISSANS HAVE BEEN RECALLED FOR BAD SENDING UNITS. TIME TO INCLUDE 2007'S! IT SOMETIMES HELPS TO KNOW HOW MUCH GAS YOU HAVE IN YOUR CAR! *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 NISSAN PATHFINDER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN THE GAS TANK WAS FULL, THE GAUGE DISPLAYED EMPTY. THE FUEL GAUGE WORKED NORMALLY INTERMITTENTLY WHENEVER THERE WAS A QUARTER TANK OF GASOLINE IN THE VEHICLE. THE DEALER INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND SAID THAT IT WAS THE DTE SENSOR THAT FAILED. THE CONTACT WAS NOT SURE ABOUT THE DEFINITION OF DTE, BUT IT DEALS WITH THE MILEAGE AND FUEL TANK READING. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 60000.
TL*-THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 NISSAN PATHFINDER. THE CONTACT OBSERVED WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 80 MPH, THE FUEL GAUGE DISPLAYED A READING WHICH INDICATED FUEL WAS CONSUMED IN THE FUEL TANK. THE VEHICLE STOPPED, DUE TO A LACK OF FUEL IN THE FUEL TANK. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOTIFIED, THEY INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT APART OF A RECALL AND THE OWNER WOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE DIAGNOSTIC CHARGE. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED AT THE TIME OF THE COMPLAINT. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 83,000. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 85,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
I OWN A 2007 NISSAN PATHFINDER WITH A FAULTY FUEL GAUGE. THERE IS A RECALL, BUT MY VEHICLE IS NOT COVERED DUE TO THE LIMITED PRODUCTION RANGE OF THE RECALL. I FEEL NISSAN SHOULD HONOR THE RECALL ON ALL VEHICLES WITH THIS PROBLEM AS IT'S CLEAR THEY HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THEIR FUEL GAUGE. MY ONLY OPTION IS TO SPEND OVER $400 OUT OF POCKET AND MAYBE THEY WILL HAVE A SECONDARY RECALL THAT WILL REFUND MY MONEY. THIS IS NOT ACCEPTABLE AND THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AS RUNNING OUT OF GAS PUTS NOT ONLY THE PERSONS IN THE VEHICLE AT RISK BUT OTHER DRIVERS AS WELL DEPENDING ON WHERE THE VEHICLE RUNS OUT OF GAS. *TR
ADD GAS TO THE TANK THE GAUGE WILL SHOW EMPTY FOR A WHILE AND THEN WILL GRADUALLY OVER ONE TO TWO DAYS GET TO THE "RIGHT" AMOUNT IN THE TANK. TANK DOES NOT RESET SHOW EMPTY WHEN FUEL. EVENTUALLY RESET TO CORRECT STATUS THE NEXT DOES. DISTANCE TILL EMPTY DOES NOT RESET. I FOUND NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS ON THE INTERNET AND THE DEALER ACTS LIKE I AM THE FIRST ONE TO BRING THIS ISSUE TO THEM. THIS CREATES A HUGE SAFETY RISK OF NOT KNOWING WHAT THE CORRECT VOLUME IS. MANY NISSAN OWNERS ARE REPORTING THIS ISSUE AND NOTHING IS BEING ADDRESSED. *TR
FUEL GAUGE PROBLEM WAS ADVISED BY NISSAN THAT FUEL GAUGE PROBLEM RECALL IS ONLY FOR 2006 AND 2008 VEHICLES. ????
THE FUEL GAUGE STOPPED READING CORRECTLY. AFTER FILLING UP THE VEHICLE, THE GAUGE READS EMPTY. AFTER DRIVING FOR AWHILE, THE FUEL GAUGE MAY BEGIN TO REGISTER AGAIN, BUT NOT ALWAYS. WE HAVE CHOSEN NOT TO REPAIR YET DUE TO COST. *TR
AT 33,392 MILES, I WENT TO HAVE MY BRAKES INSPECTED AT MY LOCAL SERVICE SHOP DUE TO A SLIGHT SQUEAKING WHEN IN REVERSE. THE OUTSIDE SURFACE OF THE ROTORS WERE SMOOTH SO I THOUGHT IT WAS JUST BRAKE DUST BUILD UP. UPON INSPECTION AT THE SHOP, THE INSIDE SURFACE OF BOTH FRONT ROTORS WERE BADLY RUSTED AND THE BRAKE PAD THAT PRESSES AGAINST THE INSIDE SURFACES WERE PARTIALLY GOUGED. BOTH ROTORS COULD NOT BE RESURFACED DUE TO THE EXTENSIVE RUST AND REQUIRED REPLACEMENT. AND EVEN THOUGH THE OUTER PADS WERE STILL AN OK THICKNESS AND THE OUTER ROTOR SURFACE WAS SMOOTH, THEY ALL NEEDED REPLACEMENT DUE TO THE BADLY RUSTED ROTORS! AFTER TAKING THE PARTS TO MY NISSAN DEALER TO SHOW THEM THE RUSTED ROTOR SURFACES, THEY SUSPECTED THAT THE INSIDE-CALIPER SLIDING PINS HAD RUSTED INHIBITING THE PAD FROM CONTACTING THE INSIDE ROTOR SURFACE, BUT STILL WOULDN'T PAY FOR MY REPLACEMENT SINCE "RUST" WASN'T COVERED! THE KICKER IS THAT THE BRAKES WERE INSPECTED DURING A "COMPLIMENTARY MULTI-POINT CHECK" ONLY ONE YEAR PRIOR WITH NO PROBLEM REPORTED. CONSIDERING I DRIVE THE VEHICLE EVERY DAY TO WORK, IF THE CALIPERS WERE SLIDING AND GRABBING THE ROTORS PROPERLY THERE SHOULD HAVE BEEN NO RUST BUILD UP AT ALL. BUT APPARENTLY THE INSIDE BRAKE PADS WERE NOT MAKING CONTACT WITH THE ROTOR SURFACE AND COULD HAVE RESULTED IN A DANGEROUS SITUATION HAD I NEEDED TO BRAKE HARD IN AN EMERGENCY. I STILL HAVE ALL DAMAGED PARTS, RECEIPTS, AND PAPERWORK (AND PICTURES OF ALL TOO) FOR ANYONE WISHING TO INSPECT THEM. CHECK IT OUT BEFORE SOMEONE GETS HURT! *DT
I FILLED MY 2007 NISSAN PATHFINDER UP WITH GAS. WHEN I STARTED DRIVING HOME, I NOTICED TO SERVICE ENGINE SOON LIGHT WAS ON. IT HAS REMAINED ON FOR A WEEK CONTINUOUSLY. THE FUEL GAUGE STARTED GOING CRAZY DURING THIS TIME. ONE MINUTE IT SHOWS A FULL TANK AND THE NEXT IT SHOWS EMPTY AND THE NEXT A HALF A TANK TO THREE QUARTERS A TANK. TODAY, I FILLED UP THE TRUCK AND IT SHOWS A HALF TANK. ALSO, DURING THIS TIME THE DTE STARTED OUT FLUCTUATING AND NOW JUST SHOWS --- ALL THE TIME. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 NISSAN PATHFINDER. THE CONTACT WENT TO START THE VEHICLE AND DISCOVERED THAT THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED AND THE FUEL LEVEL GAUGE WAS INACCURATELY DISPLAYING AN EMPTY READING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE FUEL INDICATOR SENDING UNIT WOULD NEED REPLACING. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE FAILURE DID NOT RECUR. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 32,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 35,400.
MY 2007 NISSAN PATHFINDER'S GAS GAUGE STARTED MALFUNCTIONING IN FEBRUARY 2010. I ACTUALLY WAS TOLD I HAD 1/2 TANK BUT REALIZED IT WAS EMPTY WHEN I RAN OUT OF GAS WITH MY TWO KIDS ON THE HIGHWAY. I CALLED NISSAN USA AND THEY TOLD ME IT HAD BEEN RECALLED FOR CERTAIN YEARS AND MONTHS THE CAR WAS MADE BUT MY MONTH WASN'T COVERED. I CANNOT FORK OVER 500 DOLLARS TO FIX THE GAUGE BUT I NEVER KNOW HOW MUCH GAS I HAVE SO OBVIOUSLY THAT IS NOT SAFE. *TR
I HAVE A 2007 NISSAN PATHFINDER THAT IS ONLY AT 33,700 MILES. ON 2/6 I HAVE MY CAR SERVICED. ON 2/19 MY CHECK ENGINE SOON LIGHT ILLUMINATED. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER THIS MORNING 2/20 AND THEY TOLD ME IT WAS THE FUEL SENSOR. THEY ALSO SAID IT WASN'T UNDER WARRANTY (NOT TRUE). AFTER GETTING A QUOTE OF $600, I DID RESEARCH AND UPON READING FORUMS HAVE COME TO THE REALIZATION NISSAN WILL NOT RECALL/FIX THIS PROBLEM IN THEIR VEHICLES. IT IS A SAFETY HAZARD DUE TO THE FUEL GAUGE NOT WORKING PROPERLY AND THE POSSIBILITY OF RUNNING OUT OF GAS, WHETHER IT BE ON THE HIGHWAY OR CITY STREETS. *TR
THE LAST 3 TIMES THAT I'VE FILLED MY GAS TANK, THE GAUGE SAYS EMPTY AND THE LIGHT INDICATING LOW FUEL COMES ON. THE DTE (DISTANCE UNTIL EMPTY) INDICATOR SHOWS -------INDICATING ZERO MILES LEFT UNTIL I RUN OUT OF GAS. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ALSO COMES ON. ABOUT 2 DAYS LATER MY FUEL GAUGE WILL START TO REGISTER CORRECTLY AND THEN ON THE 3RD DAY, MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WILL GO OFF. I CALLED SUTHERLIN NISSAN IN FT MYERS WHICH IS WHERE I BOUGHT MY 2007 NISSAN PATHFINDER BRAND NEW AND I SPOKE WITH NICOLE IN THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT WHO TOLD ME THAT MY SUV WAS NOT PART OF THE RECALL AND IN ORDER FOR THEM TO DETERMINE WHAT THE PROBLEM IS, I WOULD HAVE TO COME IN FOR A DIAGNOSTIC CHECK AND I WOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE CHECK AND THE REPAIRS. *TR
THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 NISSAN PATHFINDER. THE FUEL GAUGE FAILED WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS AT 38,000 MILES. THE GAUGE READ EMPTY AT ALL TIMES THE CHECKED ENGINE LIGHT REMAINED ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT HAD TO RESET THE GAUGE CHIP EACH TIME THE GAS TANK WAS FILLED; THEREFORE HE WAS ABLE TO ESTIMATE WHEN THE FUEL WAS AT HALF TANK. THE MANUFACTURER ADVISED HIS VIN WASN'T INCLUDED RECALL 10V074000 FUEL SYSTEM, OTHER: STORAGE: FUEL GAUGE SYSTEM, BUT HE SHOULD TAKE THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WILL SERVICE THE VEHICLE HIMSELF. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 38,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 42,000. LI
LIKE SOME OF THE OTHER COMPLAINTS, I ALSO HAD TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS WITH MY 2007 NISSAN PATHFINDER. IN OCTOBER 2009, WITH 48,000 MILES, MY TRANSMISSION STARTED TO ACT UP, SHIFTING IN AND OUT OF OVERDRIVE VERY ABRUPTLY, AND VIOLENTLY. ALSO, WHEN I WAS AT A CRUISING RPM OF 1500-2500 RPM, IN OVERDRIVE, THE CAR WOULD VIBRATE VERY VIOLENTLY. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP, AND THEY STATED THAT IT WAS THE TRANSMISSION, AND FORTUNATE FOR ME, IT WAS COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. 6,000 MILES LATER, IN FEBRUARY 2010, THE PROBLEM CAME BACK. ONCE AGAIN, I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER. THIS TIME THEY STATED THAT THEY FOUND ANTIFREEZE IN THE TRANSMISSION FLUID. THEY STATED THAT THEY NEEDED TO CONTACT A NISSAN REP FOR FURTHER INSTRUCTIONS. 3 DAYS LATER I RECEIVED A CALL STATING THE PROBLEM (ANTIFREEZE WAS LEAKING INTO THE TRANSMISSION LINES FROM INSIDE THE RADIATOR, AND IT NEEDED REPLACED), AND THEY SAID THAT NISSAN WOULD COVER THE TRANSMISSION, BUT NOT THE RADIATOR. WHEN ASKED THE PRICE OF THE RADIATOR, THEY QUOTED ME 650 DOLLARS! THE RADIATOR ENDED UP COSTING ME 677 DOLLARS AFTER TAXES, AND THEY REPLACED THE TRANSMISSION UNDER WARRANTY, ALTHOUGH THEY STATED THAT THEY SHOULD NOT, SINCE THE PROBLEM WAS DUE TO THE RADIATOR. I SEE THAT THIS WAS NOT JUST A FLUKE PROBLEM WITH MY VEHICLE, BUT IT SEEMS TO BE COMMON WITH THIS VEHICLE. SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED OVER THIS MATTER, FOR IT IS A SAFTEY ISSUE, AND SOMEONE IS BOUND TO GET INJURED, IF THEY HAVE NOT ALREADY. I HAVE FOUND HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS ONLINE OVER THE LEAKING AND MIXING INSIDE OF THE RADIATOR, LEADING TO THE TRANSMISSION PROBLEM. TODAY, ON AUGUST 24, 2010, I LEARNED THAT THE TORQUE CONVERTER WILL NOW NEED REPLACED. A 2007 NISSAN PATHFINDER WITH 64K MILES, ON ITS 3RD TRANSMISSION, NEW RADIATOR, AND NOW WILL NEED A TORQUE CONVERTER. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE!!! NISSAN REFUSES TO ACCEPT FAULT FOR THE PROBLEM. *TR

2007 NISSAN PATHFINDER HAS THE SAME PROBLEM AS THE 2006 AND 2008 PATHFINDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 10V-075 WE HAD TO REPLACE THIS AND WONDER WHY 2007 MODEL YEAR IS NOT INCLUDED SINCE THE SAME ISSUE IS OCCURRING. *TR
THE SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT APPEARED AT ABOUT 50K MILES. WE DETERMINED IT WAS A FAULTY FUEL SENSOR. NISSAN INSISTED ON US PAYING FOR A DIAGNOSIS AT THEIR SERVICE CENTER WHEN WE ALREADY KNEW WHAT WAS WRONG, THEN THEY CHARGED ME TO HAVE IT INSTALLED. THIS WAS FOLLOWED BY A RECALL ON 2007 PATHFINDERS BEING RECALLED FOR FUEL SENSOR BUT MINE IS EXCLUDED. *TR
FAULTY FUEL GAUGE SENSOR, 2007 NISSAN PATHFINDER . IT WAS THANKSGIVING DAY, I WAS RETURNING HOME WHEN MY SON I STOPPED TO FILL UP. MY SON WAS DRIVING AND SHORTLY AFTER TAKE OFF HE INDICATED THE GAUGE WASN'T WORKING, THE DISTANCE TO EMPTY NUMBERS WEREN'T UP AND THE "SERVICE ENGINE SOON" LIGHT WAS ON. WE GOT OFF AT THE NEXT EXIT AND I THOUGHT HE MUST HAVE NOT BEEN PAYING ATTENTION AND NO GAS WAS PUMPED. I TRIED TO FILL UP ONLY TO GET ABOUT .50 CENTS IN THE TANK. I DROVE HOME AND NOTICE THE DISTANCE NUMBERS READ BACKWARD UNTIL THE NEEDLE WAS ON FULL AND IT READ CORRECTLY. I DROVE THE VEHICLE A COUPLE OF DAYS THEN THE LIGHT WENT OFF. AFTER DRIVING FOR ANOTHER FEW DAYS THE LIGHT CAME BACK ON. I TOOK IT TO AUTOZONE FOR THEM TO TEST IT. THEY READ ME THE THINGS IT COULD BE. I THEN CALLED NISSAN IN GONZALES AND THEY TOLD ME THAT SOUND ABOUT RIGHT AND IT WOULD COST ME AROUND $500 PLUS TAX. I DIDN'T HAVE THE $$ AT THE TIME THEREFORE I HAD TO CONTINUED TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE WITH THE ENGINE LIGHT STILL ON, AND TRY AND MONITOR MY MILEAGE AND ESTIMATE HOW LONG I HAD BEFORE EMPTY. TIMES I WOULD FILL UP AND NEEDLE WOULD DROP TO EMPTY AND GAS LIGHT WOULD BE ON AND OVER A COURSE OF 2 OR 3 DAYS, IT EVENTUALLY WENT OFF, AT TIMES IT WOULD STILL SHOW FULL, AND IT WOULD GIVE ME THE DISTANCE TO EMPTY UNTIL ABOUT HALF WAY THEN I JUST HAD THE DOTS. THIS WAS ALWAYS SOMEWHERE AROUND 180-200 MILES REMAINING. I'VE BEEN DRIVING AROUND A LITTLE OVER 3 MONTHS WITH THE FAULTY SENSOR. CAN I TELL YOU MY NERVES WERE BAD, BECAUSE I DIDN'T WANT TO BE ON THE ROAD AT NIGHT, OR ANYTIME AND RUN OUT OF GAS. I FINALLY TOOK MY CAR IN FOR A DIAGNOSTIC AND THEY TOLD ME THIS IS FOR SURE WHAT I NEEDED. I JUST GOT MY CAR REPAIRED ON MONDAY, MARCH 1, 2010. YOU BETTER BELIEVE I HAVE MY RECEIPT. *TR

THE DEALER STATED THAT THE FUEL SENSOR FAILED AND WOULD NEE TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 40,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 56,000.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO PERFORMED A DIAGNOSTIC TEST THAT LOCATED THE FAILURE WITHIN THE TIMING CHAIN. THE MANUFACTURER DENIED ASSISTANCE WITH THE REPAIR. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 32,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 64,000.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT HE WOULD ADD GASOLINE TO THE VEHICLE BUT THE FUEL GAUGE WOULD READ EMPTY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION WHERE THEY STATED THAT FUEL LEVEL SENSOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED BUT PROVIDED NO ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 135,000.
A HIGH PITCHED HUMMING/WHINING NOISE FROM UNDER THE HOOD ON A 2007 NISSAN PATHFINDER. TOOK TO DEALERSHIP AND AFTER PERFORMING A DIAGNOSTIC CHECK, THEY STATED THAT IT WAS THE TIMING CHAIN AND IT WOULD BE $935.00 TO REPAIR. I ASKED THAT SINCE THE CAR WAS ONLY TWO YEARS OLD WITH MAINTENANCE RECORDS SHOULDN'T IT BE UNDER WARRANTY. THEY STATED THAT SINCE I HAD 65,000 MILES I MISSED THE DEADLINE BY 5,000 MILES AND IT WAS O.K. TO KEEP DRIVING AND NOT TO WORRY ABOUT IT. I RESEARCHED AND FOUND THAT THEY HAVE HAD A SERVICE BULLETIN (NTB07-042A) OUT ABOUT THIS ISSUE SINCE APRIL, 17,2009. I HAVE HAD MY VEHICLE IN A FEW TIMES SINCE THE BULLETIN CAME OUT AND FEEL THAT THEY SHOULD HAVE NOTIFIED ME ESPECIALLY SINCE I HAVE PAID FOR ANOTHER BULLETIN ISSUE REGARDING THE FUEL GAUGE(REFERENCE SERVICE BULLETIN NTB07-069B) THAT COST ME $395.00. I FEEL THE DEALERSHIP IS NEGLIGENT IN ADVISING MY WIFE TO NOT WORRY ABOUT THE TIMING CHAIN AND TO GO AHEAD AND DEAL WITH IT LATER. IT APPEARS THAT THEY WANTED MORE MILEAGE TO PLACED ON THE VEHICLE SO THEY WOULD HAVE A STRONGER CLAIM DOWN THE ROAD TO NOT PAY FOR THE REPAIRS THAT WERE MENTIONED ON A BULLETIN FIVE MONTHS PRIOR -WHICH MEANS THAT ISSUES HAVE EXISTED LONG BEFORE THIS TIME FRAME FOR A BULLETIN TO BE ISSUED. NISSAN IS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM (NTB07-06B) BUT REFUSES TO FIX AT THEIR EXPENSE. THEIR DEALERSHIPS ARE CHARGING $500 + IN PARTS AND LABOR TO FIX THIS POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS SITUATION. WE RAN OUT OF FUEL ON THE EXPRESSWAY, AND HAD TO WAIT FOR ALMOST AN HOUR ON THE LEFT SIDE OF I-75 UNTIL GEORGIA HERO BROUGHT US SOME FUEL. PLEASE HELP. *TR

THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED TO-DATE. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 60,000. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 55,000.

WHEN THE FUEL TANK WAS FULL, THE GAUGE WOULD DISPLAY THE FUEL TANK AS EMPTY AND VICE VERSA. THE DEALER INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THE FUEL SENSOR HAD FAILED. MY HUSBAND WAS DRIVING TO WORK ON THE M1 DOING 70 MPH WHEN THE PASSENGER SIDE IMPACT AIR BAGS DEPLOYED AND EXPLODED FOR NO REASON. LUCKILY MY HUSBAND FROZE AND SLOWLY MOVED OVER TO THE SLOW LANE. THE VEHICLE WAS RECOVERED AND TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER WERE THEY SAID THEY COULD NOT FIND WHY IT HAD GONE OFF. SO THEY CALLED NISSAN FOR ADVICE WHO THEN CAME OUT AND TOOK THE AIR BAG SENSOR SYSTEM OUT TO BE TESTED. THEY ALSO SAID THAT THEY FOUND A SCRATCH AND 2 SMALL DENTS UNDERNEATH OF THE DRIVERS SIDE FOOT RAIL WHICH WERE FRESH AND THAT WE MOST OF DROVE OVER SOMETHING AND THAT COULD HAVE SET THE MOTION SENSOR TO TRIGGER THE AIR BAG TO DEPLOY. I EXPLAINED THAT WE HAD NEVER DROVE OVER ANYTHING OR KNOWN TO HAVE HAD ANY DAMAGE DONE TO THE UNDERNEATH OF THE VEHICLE. THEY REPLIED THAT THE MOTION SENSORS MOST HAVE FELT THAT THE CAR MIGHT HAVE OVER TURNED THEREFORE ACTIVATING THE OPPOSITE SIDE AIR BAGS. AFTER SEEING THE INDENTATION FOR MYSELF I FIND IT HARD TO BELIEVE THAT THE VEHICLES WHEELS WOULD HAVE NOT LIFTED OFF THE ROAD SO HOW CAN THE SENSORS THINK THAT IT WAS GOING TO TURN OVER. TWO DAYS LATER I RECEIVED A CALL EXPLAINING THAT NISSAN WAS TAKING RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE DAMAGE AND THAT IT WAS NOT GOING TO BE COVERED UNDER THE WARRANTY, BUT THEY REPLACED THE SENSOR SYSTEM WITH A BRAND NEW ONE. WHY WOULD THEY REPLACE IT IF THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE OLD ONE? I ASKED THEM WHAT WOULD NEED REPLACING THEY SAID A NEW SEAT, AIR BAGS AND ROOF LINER AND THAT IT WOULD COST THOUSANDS. NORMALLY I WOULD HAVE BEEN DRIVING THE VEHICLE AT THAT TIME OF DAY WITH MY 2 CHILDREN SAT THERE AND I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO SLEEP SINCE IT HAPPENED DUE TO THINKING WHAT COULD HAVE HAPPENED, AS IT COULD HAVE CAUSED A FATALITY. *TR

WHY HAS THERE NOT BEEN A RECALL ON THIS PROBLEM. CHECKED DIFFERENT PLACES AND A LOT OF PATHFINDERS OR NISSAN TRUCKS HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM AND IT IS NOT COVERED. NISSAN INC. ABOUT 6 MONTHS AGO I WAS DRIVING DOWN A MAJOR INTERSTATE AND SUDDENLY MY TRUCK CUT OFF. LUCKILY I WAS ALREADY IN THE FAR RIGHT LANE WHICH ALLOWED ME TO MERGE ONTO THE SHOULDER BEFORE STOPPING COMPLETELY. WHEN THE TRUCK CUT OFF, THE POWER STEERING ALSO WENT OUT MAKING IT VERY DIFFICULT TO STEER THE TRUCK OUT OF THE ROAD. BEING THAT THIS PORTION OF THE INTERSECTION WAS UNDER CONSTRUCTION, MY TRUCK WAS NOT ABLE TO CLEAR THE ADJACENT LANE WITH ON COMING TRAFFIC. TRAFFIC BACKED UP UNTIL SOMEONE JUMPED OUT OF THEIR CAR TO HELP PUSH THE TRUCK FURTHER ONTO THE SHOULDER. I LATER FOUND OUT THAT THE TRUCK RAN OUT OF GAS AND THE FUEL LEVEL INDICATOR STOP WORKING ON MY CAR. I HAD NO WAY OF KNOWING WHEN MY CAR WAS LOW ON FUEL OTHER THAN TO KEEP A RUNNING TAB ON HOW MANY MILES I HAVE DRIVEN SINCE THE LAST FILL UP OF FUEL. THE SAME EXACT THING HAPPEN TO MY WIFE WHILE DRIVING DOWN A MAJOR ROAD.(SHE HAS THE 2006 PATHFINDER AND MINE IS THE 2007 PATHFINDER) SHE SUDDENLY LOST HER POWER STEERING AND COULD NOT PULL OVER INTO A NEAR BY GAS STATION ALMOST CAUSING A FEW CARS TO CRASH INTO HER TRUCK. AFTER TAKING MY TRUCK TO THE DEALER TO DETERMINE THE PROBLEM, THEIR REPLY WAS THAT THE PROBLEM COULD NOT BE REPAIRED UNDER THE WARRANTY AND TO REPAIR THE PROBLEM WOULD COST ME A SUBSTANTIAL AMOUNT OF MONEY. THEY WERE WELL AWARE OF THE PROBLEM DUE TO MANY OF THEIR TRUCKS HAVING THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM. OUR LOCAL MECHANIC CALLED THE DEALER ALSO TO INQUIRE ABOUT THE ISSUE AND WAS TOLD THAT IT IS VERY COMMON FOR ALL OF THE NISSAN PATHFINDERS TO HAVE THIS ISSUE AT APPROXIMATELY 30K MILES. HE STATED THAT THEY HAVE BEEN REPAIRING THEM VERY OFTEN. BOTH ME AND MY WIFE FEAR THAT WE COULD GET INTO A SERIOUS ACCIDENT OR CAUSE A SERIOUS ACCIDENT DUE TO THIS MANUFACTURER FLAW. WE BOTH FEEL THAT A MANUFACTURER RECALL IS IN ORDER AND THAT NISSAN CORP IS PUTTING IT'S BUYERS IN DANGER BY REFUSING TO HAVE THIS REPAIRED BY THE DEALER FREE OF CHARGE TO THE BUYER. FUEL GAUGE WAS EXPERIENCING INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS WHILE STILL UNDER WARRANTY, TO WHERE WHEN I FILLED IT THE FUEL GAUGE WOULD DROP TO ZERO/EMPTY. I TOOK IT INTO THE NISSAN DEALER (SANDY SANDSING IN PENSACOLA, FL) AND THEY TOLD ME THE ISSUE/RECALL WAS LIMITED TO THE ALTIMA AND THE XTERRA ONLY AND NOT MY PATHFINDER. AT 38000 MILES THE FUEL GAUGE ISSUE WAS CONSTANT, BUT IT WAS NOW OUT OF WARRANTY. FINALLY, NISSAN ISSUED A RECALL AND I WAS UNABLE TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THE REPLACEMENT BECAUSE MY MILEAGE WAS OVER THEIR LIMIT. I AM NOT ASKING TO HAVE THIS SENSOR REPLACED JUST FOR THE FUN OF IT, IT IS INOPERABLE. NISSAN SHOULD HAVE TO PAY ME FOR THE POOR GAS MILEAGE I GET FROM HAVING TO CONSTANTLY DRIVE WITH A FULL FUEL TANK; BECAUSE THE GAS GAUGE WAS UNRELIABLE. I WILL NEVER BUY A NISSAN AGAIN. *TR

WHEN I BROUGHT IT BACK MONTHS LATER THEY TOLD ME I HAD LOW OIL IN ENGINE AND COMBINED WITH I WAS PAST THE 60,000 WARRANTY NOW (67,861) THAT I WOULD NOT BE COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. THEY KNEW THIS WAS A PROBLEM AND CLAIMED THAT I HAD NO RECORD OF IT BEING A PROBLEM SINCE THEY COULDN'T "FIND" ANYTHING WHEN I BROUGHT IT IN THE FIRST TIME. TWO DEALERSHIPS TOLD ME THAT IT WAS JUST A NOISE WHEN IN FACT NISSAN HAS KNOWN ABOUT THE TIMING CHAIN ISSUE THIS WHOLE TIME. I WAS TOLD TO PAY FOR THE REPAIR MYSELF WHICH WAS ABOVE $1,500.00. *TR
